My dad is nearing his sixties, and ever since his youth, Trance music has been his passion. We live alone, just us two, after my mom passed away from cancer when I was just two years old (I'm 25 now). While I've gone through many hardships because of this, I've also seen my dad's smile disappear. He was never the same man he was back then, and that saddens me deeply, since he's the kindest soul anyone could ask for.
The only time I see him smile, and be genuinely excited, is when he's mixing Trance music. He started this hobby a few years ago, and is very proud and excited about his mixes. His biggest dream is for people to simply listen to it, but his mixes barely get any views. He barely understands how to navigate his computer, let alone how the Youtube algorithm works. He often gets bummed out that his mixes don't get any views, and I'd just be left there trying to shabbily explain how the algorithm works. The sad thing is he just doesn't seem to understand.

I used to have this toy when I was younger and I swear it was a purple with yellow accent car that would “transform” when you pushed a button on the roof. I have been having this recurring event in my dreams for many years now. I don't remember when it started. Chances of it happening is higher if I'm tired and sleeping late or napping. So this time I decided I will recollect and note down the events in dream as soon as I wake up. This is what I wrote down:
Context/Situation (This can change) I am in a room with my brother and mom. Mom is in pain for some reason. Maybe post some medical procedure. (My mom irl has many medical problems and is always in pain nowadays)
Recurring events Something is happening to me, Suddenly I feel like I'm losing control and I stumble and fall to ground. My mind is in control of someone/something else. It goes to a scary trip where it feels like I'm flying high altitude and falling, and flying again, through different kind of ( hostile/scary ? ) environments. I feel like I'm dying or something. Then my mind slowly comes back to my body. Even inside the dream it feels like a familiareoccurring problem. And then I wake up.
So in some earlier rendition of the dream, the context was that it was a more public place with more people. So I was self aware because I'm breaking down publicly inside the dream. So I thought maybe its projection of my anxieties of social fuck ups or something and stuck to that conclusion. But no, it was just a different context. In this particular scenario I didn't care about what anyone else thought since it was only my brother and mom in my dream. But I was distraught.
What do you guys think this repeating events in my dreams mean ? Sometimes I feel like I'm being punished for the wrongs I did. Or is it a projection of the fact that I have very less control/discipline of my mind ? Is it both ? Or something else?

As a firm proponent of the "good ending", I had a little fun writing this conversation after Dove and Beacon decided to team up to interpret their GFs' prophetic dreams. Also, Rose is a tech-priest, I decided.

Overview

After switching to (podman) containers for long running jobs as well as Sway + Foot for automatic tiling, the appeal of terminal multiplexer was lost in my personal workflow.
I recently experimented with status bars in Bash (with PS1 as demonstrated here) and got the idea to give them a new chance for this feature alone!
Naturally I benchmarked various alternatives and wanted to share my results.

Setup

Conditions - Test reads 1,228,772 lines with UTF-8 chars (250mb) from RAM and measures the time it takes to print the entirety of the file 10 times. - Each run was performed using the same file. - Cache was cleaned between re-runs (which gave me faily consistent results).
System - CPU: 7950X - RAM: DDR5 5600MHz - Polling rate: 144Hz

Compilation performance

I've seen warnings about the potential of slower compilation due to std speed being a bottleneck (hence why quiet builds are recommended). To my surprise, this might actually be an issue (with slower hardware or when compiling the entire system). For reference, I made sure to re-run the tests multiple times to confirm this.

Conclussion

These tests was done due to curiosity. In day to day tasks this probably doesn't matter that much. Nonetheless:

• Podman vs Baremetal: results were equal and within margin of error. I had runs where Rootful Podman was faster than Baremetal by a couple milliseconds and vice versa. However, to reproduce this you'd have to consider disabling seccomp [1] [2] [3] and following official performance guides.
  
• Terminal emulators are ridiculously faster at priting lines than raw TTY.
  
• Every terminal multiplexer introduces higher latency (Tmux > Zellij > Screen).
  
• Foot is faster at printing lines than Kitty (which has eerily similar performance to Tmux).
  
• Compilation completes slower with verbose and your choice of terminal- emulator /&/ multiplexer.

A lot of the dialogue is around Sunday, and the benefits and flaws of his plan that is proposed throughout the 2.2 story quest. I want to take it from a slightly different perspective, looking at the central lines that the writers put emphasis on to try and parse out the philosophy that they are presenting. For moral principles, for the sake of argument I will align with the game and assume Sunday's "Life of dignity" is the moral good, while the things he is fighting (human suffering and unfortunate destiny) are moral evil.

From what I have seen, almost nobody disagrees with Sunday's central goal he is trying to achieve. If he were to succeed, it would result in the elimination of suffering and a granting a freedom from both circumstance and responsibility. However, he is still defeated at the end of the story, and he is still the villain. Why? There are two prevalent answers to this that I have seen circulating, but both of them are incorrect (at least within the greater intentions of the story):
1. Unilateralism: Sunday did not receive consent
The most common argument I have seen. There are a couple problems with this, the first being that this is an exceptional case where the typical pitfalls of totalitarianism are not present. I'll quote Boothill here:

People do stupid things out of irrational impulses. They abandon their principles when self-interest is involved. They believe in things they know they shouldn't, and fudge— they even break their own rules! But Aeons don't. They stick to their determined path and never turn back, even if they reach a dead end!

This is one of the aforementioned central lines, and it is critical to the credibility of Sunday's argument. A totalitarian regime that abides by the principles of an aeon (which is the case, it is literally called Ena's Dream), has no danger of human error, self-serving favoritism, or any of the other pitfalls that a human dictatorship would fall into.
This indicates that unilateralism was not the issue that the writers were presenting (and logically, it makes sense why). Further supporting this is the lack of any mention of the problem of consent in the story dialogue. In fact, the main issue at the end of the story was that nobody actually wanted to leave the dream. According to Robin:

At present, [Ena's Dream] has become impervious due to people's desire to remain slumbering within the dream

In fact, Acheron, Boothill, Robin, and the Express, who forcibly woke everyone from the dream against their will also acted unilaterally. They even put people in a state of fear for their lives to do so. Despite this, they are the protagonists of the story and are praised in and out of the game (And I agree!). This can't be it.
2. Sunday is too pessimistic about human nature
Sunday's pessimism is more often casually acknowledged rather than directly challenged, however I did see a couple people using this reasoning so I will address it briefly. This time I'll quote March 7th:

It sounds... like a flawless theory...

It sounds like that because it is. Sunday is backed with loads of anecdotal evidence which are presented in the "choices" part of the story (Story chapter: Beauty and Destruction). These are given with the intention of explaining why his ideal would work, because no matter what you choose you are left with the sin and brokenness of the universe pressing in on you.
Sunday is further backed by history. The devouring of The Order by The Harmony had left the entire universe in disarray as the thriving planets under Ena's control were plunged into the chaos of human nature. If you want to break the fourth wall as well, it's pretty obvious that the aspects of the world that Sunday take issue with are eternally present with humanity. This could be the class war, the necessity of labor, or anything else. I think Firefly sums this up well:

I... admit that you are a born leader. Your perspective on humanity brims with pessimism, yet you express equal compassion for all, even when your heart pities them.

But Sunday is still wrong

With those two options out of the way, let's go to the story instead and find some of the central quotes in Penacony's story:

• "Even if the ending has been predetermined, that's fine. There are countless things that humans cannot change." - Acheron, to Aventurine
• "Mortals who walk the Paths are like sailors on a vast ocean, leaving behind a trail that creates countless ripples of possibilities. These ripples last longer than the fleeting lifetimes of humans. And for some, their presence leaves such a strong mark that it's reflected in the waves." - Acheron (and Tiernan)
• "Listen, touch, and ponder, and therein lies the sensation. Cherish it, because that's what makes us exist. Such is the only answer humans can offer when facing the Nihility." - Acheron, to the Trailblazer
• "I would never ever want to live in a dream." - Trailblazer, to Acheron
• "A touch of red will be awaiting you at the end of the path. That's the color of "existence." Follow it, and it'll guide you and illuminate the way out." - Acheron, to the Trailblazer

All of these lines generally point to Acheron's reason for being in Penacony's story. The situation on Penacony is a manifestation of Acheron's entire reason for existing. She is a watcher on the edge of The Nihility, and her aim is to turn away those who seek to become absorbed into THEIR nothingness. The reason why Acheron is in Penacony and helps tear down the dream is because Ena's dream bears a resemblance to IX. Acheron believes living in the dreamscape is the same as escaping into nothingness. If you still don't believe me, take a look at the parallelism the lines involving Acheron here:

• But if this is indeed the world that people desire — if this is precisely why life chooses to slumber — should we still seek to change it? - Acheron, to Welt; in reference to the dreamscape
• But if this is what the departed ones expected, should you try to change it? - Tiernan, to Acheron; in reference to IX

Although the reasoning for the answer is vague, in both situations it is yes. Welt's response is "people must always move towards the future. Even if human weaknesses make them pause, when they truly cannot move forward... humanity will eventually seek a way to save itself." Acheron's response is "Some tasks have to be done, even if they are pointless."
With this comes the first flaw in Sunday's plan: If there is meaning to be found in life, it is not found in the dreamscape. Meaning is the "touch of red" that only exists in reality, it is the wake that is left behind by the trailblazer, it is the light of a star that illuminates distant worlds for millions of years after its death. Acheron is intentionally vague about what this meaning actually is, her final purpose is to show you where it is not.

Why "Why does life slumber"?

A second, more logistical reason for Sunday's plan being flawed lies in the central question of the entire story: "Why does life slumber?" Several answers are presented, most significantly by Firefly (2.0), Aventurine (2.1), and the Trailblazer (2.2). Trailblazer's is most significant for this argument, and is also foreshadowed by Acheron.

Because... someday... We will wake from our dreams!

This line gets a lot of flak for being cheesy or nonsensical, but I believe the opposite. This is the best and most significant line in the entire story. It is simultaneously the answer to the overarching question of the story and also the perfect response to Sunday.
The second flaw in Sunday's plan is the indomitable human spirit (kind of). The reason why life is able to sleep is because we are assured in the inevitability of awakening and returning to reality. Sunday fails to take into account human nature, as stated by Black Swan:

You want to go back? Unfortunately, human consciousness always gravitates toward reality. Now that you've seen the flaw in the dream, there is no turning back.

Ultimately, this flaw comes down to two parts: Sunday (and devoured Ena) are not God (capital G), and humans have a will. The first is important because it means that Sunday in his limited power is neither able to make his dream an actual reality, and it also means that the said dream will have flaws that will shock people out of the dream. The second is important because of what was mentioned above, the dream will eventually unravel at the seams, and this is exactly what ended up happening.

TL;DR

When looking at the goals of the story, it is clear that the flaws in Sunday's plan do not lie in his pessimism (as his disposition is well-supported) or the pitfalls of totalitarianism (as they are negated by the nature of Ena as an Aeon). Instead it is flawed because:

1. Humanity's response to The Nihility lies not in the void or in a dream, but in reality only. To escape is to accept nothingness, to live in reality is to find meaning.
2. Neither Sunday nor Ena is God, and they cannot build a utopia in true reality nor perfect the consistency of the utopia in the dream
3. Because of the inconsistencies and the gravitation of human consciousness towards reality, we will all eventually wake from the dream and tear it apart.

Lets take for a moment and imagine a timeline where we embrace biotechnology the same way we have embraced privacy. Or maybe that was a vice versa. But if instead of artificial intelligence we started to engineer new bio-intelligences. Embracing a best case of genetic engineering scenarios. If we poured funding into genetic engineering and stem cell research like the massive outpouring currently going into AI.
We could then be having the first generation of gene altered children entering the field of biotechnology now; although most of the benefits will likely be going to the rich and powerful for better or worse. (See any number of great/terrible movies/literature on the subject.) Sure this is a slow growth path for intelligence but it's not too slow on galactic timescales.
In this timeline brains in a jar (or their equivalent) may seem inevitable because of the enormous economical impact it would have. Whether they're made of human brain cells is another question altogether; but rat brains seem to be very capable and there are always hot monkey brains.
A superintelligence singularity is possible and even likely in this scenario with jar brains designing stronger and more powerful jar brains. They would even be overseen by smarter humans too. I don’t fear a superintelligence, only a Capitalist one. [Note this is not an avocation for eugenics; I don’t think we need smarter people, only kinder ones.]
Ok. Let’s take a step back for a moment. What would an alien intelligence look like? And let's not even go too far either. There was a time when the background temperature of the universe was that of liquid water. So our Galactic neighborhood may be biased to certain life forms. (Shout out to our peaceful cousins the Archaea, love you guys.)
Imagine a world with complex life and close to earth-like conditions; then what do we find? I am willing to bet we find something that looks a lot like a crab. If not then I am definitely interested in learning why. (Science is exciting when the unexpected happens.)
Now let's add intelligent life to this planet. But intelligence that emerges from a vastly different structure then a neuron; with all the strength, weakness, and biases that entails. Maybe something closer to our lymphatic system. Remember Life beats up other Chemistry and Physics in dark alleys, then rifles through their pockets for loose solutions to the problems of Life’s own creation. (Or was that English?).
What would their art look like? Human music seems to be emergent from the bias of our neurons for clear, orderly and repetitive signals and a negative bias for noisy and disorderly signals. (And maybe our time in the womb? I don’t know, I’m not a Freudist)

It will probably be the same as the previous one, but the episode will end with some huge cliffhanger, like, I don't know, TSC seeing their friends hurt, and end up awakening their powers, and then the episode ends, idk. This probably won't happen.

Hi i found this fragrance a year ago. Went through my first bottle and didn’t buy another because the projection and longevity was just too weak barely 2-3 hours. But i love the scent it’s in my top 5 all time. I was wondering if any of you guys knew a similar fragrance (identical lol) or a clone that has more projection and better longevity. Already tried SWY and it’s not what i’m looking for. I bought LV l’immensité but i found out that it’s way too classy and upscale for my regular outings still like it tho

I have been stewing over this dream for a couple days now. I am wondering if the witches of realwitchcraft can help me.
I was laying out in the garden, on the grass under a lilac shrub. I fell asleep and dreamt that two coyotes walked up and sniffed me. The older coyote said, "No, she's not ready yet." To which the younger replied, "So we still can't show her?"
The older coyote turned away from me and said, "No, it's not the time." As the both walked away they disappeared into the air. I woke up.
From what I can find online: coyotes can be tricksters but also can mean to balance serious with play.
Has anyone in this subreddit worked with coyotes or coyote spirits before?
