As it stood, my crazy plan certainly seemed to resonate with the gathered leaders, though they did offer their own suggestions as to how best to implement improvements and contingencies. I of course welcomed each and every one of them, then debated their merits and as the hours flew by we weeded out the ideas that simply would not work and expanded on those that would.
It was quite honestly refreshing to not have to do all the thinking for once, it felt nice to do a little outsourcing as one might describe it. Besides, as many would say I only had one point of view, well, two if we’re being literal, that of a human and an arachne, the former coming from a world without magic and monstrous beings like those I had surrounded myself with.
Their unique viewpoints had offered a wealth of possibilities and were in their own ways invaluable to the war effort. I am glad that they all managed to get along as well. I had seen no hint of animosity or long held grudges between any of them, not even the age old and quite frankly stereotypical hostility between the elves and dwarves had reared its head. In fact, the two races had seemingly fed into each other's ideas with excited glee, and I had almost expected there to be a bout of mad cackling near the end of their ramblings.
Of course now the meeting was over and we were all starting our preparations. The basic prep wouldn’t take that long, ensuring our warriors were all well supplied, their weapons and armor at peak quality before the battle was paramount. It was everything else about the plan that would take time, time we must ensure we had if we were to succeed. And so I headed for the Aberrant Spire, a place I had not been in a long time.
As I followed the streets I was reminded of my first delve into this city, back when it was fully under the control of vile abominations. I paused, looking at a short building on my right, large claw marks scoring the wall near the lip of the roof. I remember one of those beasts had attempted to climb up to get me as I traversed the rooftops.
Remembering that I felt a shiver run down my spine and issued a silent word of thanks that such horrors no longer existed in my new home, that vibrant life had returned to these hallowed streets. It was a place of hope now, not terror.
It was with this remembering of certain facts that I began looking for a faster means of travel to reach the Spire, as walking would be a long and arduous task indeed. Thankfully this was something that was already thought of, for as I meandered through the streets in my search I came across a somewhat raised walkway, except this walkway had a pair of lines worked from crystal or metal, I couldn’t rightly tell which, running through it.
I paused, wondering how I had never seen this thing before and in doing so I bore witness to its purpose. A merchant with a large wagon approached a circular pattern on the walkway, ensured his wares were well secured and then spoke a destination. At once a ball of energy surrounded him and the wagon, raising it all off the ground and then sending him zipping along, following the right hand line. Even as I watched, another traveler came from the opposite direction, the magic wrought into the pathway depositing them gently off to one side and they continued on their merry way.
I had to wonder why thing wasn’t around the first time I had come here, though the more I looked at the construction the stone looked somewhat fresh, perhaps it was simply a new addition and not something from the city’s past. Either way, it looked mighty useful so I stepped into the circle and took a deep breath.
“The Aberrant Spire.” I spoke clearly, and felt myself go weightless. The magic ball of energy formed around me, lifting me off solid ground and leaving me floating, which certainly triggered a slight fear response from my arachnid instincts. I was moved into position and then shot forward. It took all I had to not scream, sudden fear turning into excitement as my human experiences harkened back to several amusement park visits as a kid and getting to ride the roller coasters.
Though instead of loop the loops and corkscrews it was naught but straight lines and gentle curves that weaved through and over the city streets. Everything was a blur and yet I hardly felt it, really all that I felt was a vague sense of motion in my gut and the wind pulling at my hair, but that was it. I did see the spire come into view however, and steadily it grew larger and larger till at last it dominated the skyline.
My breakneck pace started to slow and just as it had with the other traveler, the magic gently shifted me to one side and then put me down softly. I found my legs were incredibly wobbly and as such I simply stood there and waited for the wobbling to cease. Once it had I stepped off the platform and down onto the street proper, finally taking in the sights as it were.
If the areas around the palace and the rest of the city were for merchants, common folk and nobility, then this area was almost exclusively inhabited by those with magical talents. I saw robed figures flitting to and fro, some hovering along on disks of light or wind, one even walked into a shadowy patch and vanished, presumably reappearing elsewhere. And over it all loomed the Spire, still as pretty and strange as it had been, though it seemed to glow with newfound life and vigor.
The teleporter complex seemed in working order as well, though it would have to be since new mages had taken up residence in the spire above. I made for the complex, many mages who had been engrossed in walking and thinking doing double takes as I passed. I simply nodded at each in turn and continued on my merry way, entering the complex and getting bombarded by the sounds of a busy building. Pages and mages zipped about, conducting their various tasks as they did, stepping into or out of the teleporters as needed. It felt almost like that one time I’d visited Grand Central, boy hadn’t that been fun.
I decided that I should probably get some directions to the person that would be most suited to help me with my plan, really whomever happened to be in charge of this place would be perfect for that and so I stepped up to a circular desk that seemed to be staffed by a mixture of elves, dwarves, humans and even a slime person, the latter wobbling in place and simply shifting their features about to face anyone that spoke to them.
I stopped before an elf, the woman looking up and recognition dawning on her face as she beheld me.
“Y-Your majesty! What brings you all the way out here?” She stammered even as she made to stand and bow. I waved her back down into her seat with a smile, the elf sinking back down into her seat.
“I have business with whomever is in charge of the Spire and I have found that I have no idea who that happens to be. I was hoping to change that, and get directions as well.”
The woman nodded, still a bit frazzled thanks to an unannounced visit by royalty.
“I-I can do that, a moment please your majesty.” She said, hunching over a large book that sat before her and furiously flipping through it. Once she found what she needed, she opened a drawer and pulled out what looked like some sort of talisman, setting it down before me on the desk. “Firstly, this will identify you as not only an authorized visitor to the spire, but also as royalty. Granted we all know you are but the spire itself wouldn’t and so would treat you as an intruder if you didn’t carry this with you at all times. And considering your authority over us all, it will allow you to access areas that would be otherwise restricted to normal visitors.”
As she explained its function I picked the talisman up and looked it over. It was a simple thing, not too gaudy though I couldn’t help but notice a coat of arms upon it that had a distinctly arachne flavor to it. I could swear I’d seen it before somewhere else, perhaps that would have to be something else I looked into later.
“I can call an escort for you, they can guide you right to the Archmage.” The receptionist spoke, snapping me from my thoughts as I affixed the talisman to my breast.
“That won’t be necessary, a map will suffice. I am an adventurer first and a queen second after all.” Chuckling, I watched her nod and pull a sheet of parchment towards her, a hand hovering over the surface and magic flowing from her palm onto the page. What looked like ink appeared on it, which then took the shape of the current room I resided in. Words even appeared, informing me that I could use any of the teleporters I wished.
“The man you are looking for is Archmage Yesric. As far as I know he doesn’t have any pressing duties today so you should find him sequestered in his office.” The receptionist rose and bowed again, keeping her hunched over pose even as I started to walk away.
“Thank you, you’ve been most helpful.” I said. I took a subtle look over my shoulder and was relieved to see that she’d sat back down and was currently in the midst of furious conversation with her coworkers. Which was fair, not every day a member of royalty comes asking for help right?
Stepping into the teleporter I was promptly deposited into the halls of the Spire, which now bustled with activity. Mostly staff it seemed, though I spotted several gaggles of younger folk all dressed in something reminiscent of school uniforms rushing through the halls, their expressions belying a desperate desire to reach their destination as quickly as possible. I had heard nothing about the spire being used as some sort of school, though I suppose it only made sense to train the next generation of magic users in a place where magic was dominant.
Looking down at the map I’d been provided, I was pleased to see that my current position was reflected upon its surface. But now there was a handy dandy guiding line that pointed down a hallway to my right. And so without further ado, I followed it. People naturally got out of my way, though whether that was because I took up most of the hall or because they knew who I was I wasn’t sure, either way I did my best to not impede their progress too much.
Turning a corner I was suddenly met with an empty hallway, one that slowly began to fill with black smoke. My gut twisted and my head felt heavy, my eyes began to flutter and then I blinked, the hallway was bustling with people, no longer filled with the smoke. I licked my lips, trying to shake the ghosts of the past and move forward, though my legs couldn’t help but shiver slightly with every step I took.
Floor by floor I made my way closer to my target, till eventually I was directed through a door into what looked like every executive's office that I’d ever seen, just with a fantasy twist to it. Or rather, it was the little office for a secretary that I entered, which presumably meant that through the next door was what I was looking for.
A bespectacled goblin lass looked up from a large tome and blinked at me, her eyes rather enlarged thanks to the lenses that sat before them.
“Can I help you?” She drawled tiredly, and I stepped up to a good distance from her desk.
“Yes, I’m here to speak with the Archmage.”
“I do not recall setting any meetings today. May I ask who wishes for this audience?” She said, flipping through another much smaller tome that sat nearby.
“Safa Eventra.”
She continued to look through this smaller book, before freezing, her head slowly turning towards me. Now she really seemed to be looking at me and I could only smile politely back at her.
“A-Apologies your majesty, a moment if you please, I must inform the Archmage of your presence.” She said, hopping down off her chair and scampering hurriedly towards the other door. I didn’t say anything, instead just engaging in the arachne equivalent of rocking back and forth on my heels. She slipped through the door and I could hear muffled speech before several loud thuds and some not so muffled cursing ensued. The goblin secretary appeared, leaning against the door after closing it.
“The archmage will see you in just a moment, your majesty.” She said, resuming her post and doing her best to look professional for me.
“That’s quite alright, I’m in no rush.” I responded, humming softly to myself as I looked around the room. A moment later, I heard a voice call out from the office and since that was my cue, I bowed my head to the secretary and stepped through the door into the archmage's office.

Hey, I’m a trans woman in the UK and I recently after a 42 month wait had an appointment at the Gender Identity Clinic and got referred to a few different places for further treatment.
One of the referrals was for facial hair removal. On the NHS you can get 8 sessions of laser hair removal or 16 hours of electrolysis in 8 2 hours sessions. I was sent a letter with a bunch of information on the methods and a list of the places that work with the NHS to offer the treatment.
Based on the information I was given I think I’d rather go for the laser hair removal because you seemingly need to grow out your facial hair a bit for Electrolysis, something that just makes me shiver with dysphoria.
But I wanted to hear anyone’s stories for if you’ve had facial hair removal. Is there anything you would recommend? Is there anything you would advise to definitely avoid? Do you have a specific place (perhaps ideally in London) that you would swear is great? Do you have any horror stories of places to never set near?
I have heard that the Alexandrite laser is the best if you have light skin and dark hair like I do, but the only place that offered it on the list of providers was 2 and a 1/2 hours drive away. Did you find another specific laser to be effective? Because perhaps one of your recommendations might be a bit closer to where I live.
Honestly, any advice from those who have done something similar would be helpful.

2024.05.15 13:52 Difficult-Election33 I'm questioning if im ftm.
I have no idea if I'm gender fluid or just trans. In early 2023 I came out as trans to my mum after realising in the mirror that I would want to have no boobs and I imagined myself as a cis boy and I felt so much more content with myself. I came out to my mum at a random night and she supported me but I still asked her to use they/them pronouns for me since my brother was already critical of me using those pronouns. I came out to my brother over the phone sobbing because I couldn't keep it from him anymore and he hated me for it. He treated me different and he outed me to my sister. My sister supported me but was sad because our older sister had passed away a couple moths ago at the time from cancer and she was sad because I was her "only sister left". In late 2023 I still identified as trans and had only cut my hair short but was too shy to ask for a binder so I just hid under masses of clothes and sometimes ducktape if it got too bad. My brother and my relationship was crumbling but he still used they/them which was fine but still reminded me that I will "never be a real boy" and that if I decide to take testosterone and get surgery I would be ruining my body irreversibly and regret it massively. Just before the start of 2024 I had doubted my identity as trans. I told my mum and she fully supported me. My brother was relived and glad I "got rid of that mental illness" and my sister didn't really care all too much. Not long after glimg back to using she/her pronouns I felt uncomfortable and turned to Google and quizzes to help me figure things out. I expressed that on somedays I feel like a boy and sometimes I am happy being female and even find joy in it. I came to the conclusion I was gender fluid. Until recently I have been question if im trans again because I've been getting so much gender envy and I've been having a lot of dysphoria. I have no idea so it would mean a lot if someone could give advice!!

 | Kwiw for scale. I washed my hair 2 days ago and this is how much I lost in the bath today, is this normal? I expect hair loss every time I wash but this seems excessive. I've not cut my hair since June 2022 so that might be the issue. I'm am struggling with gender I been struggling with it for a while now. When I first started year's ago I tried to not think about it but now it's all I think of most of the time, what if I was born a women. I hear so many trans women talk about how much happier they are, I also heard of hrt and benefits that could come with it and it sounds magical from the softer skin, more feminine body shape and more. Also on top of that recently I've been questioning my sexuality as well I never found myself thinking a guy is cute/hot but recently I've been staring to feel that when I do see a guy who looks good and I feel bad maybe because I was raised to not think that way. However now that I'm trying to let go of all internal homophobia and transphobia taught onto me, which is why I struggle so hard trying find out who I am I so confused. I'd like to think I'm a trans women because I don't like living a male facial hair, masculine body is just something I'm not a fan of. I also think I would be a lesbian because although I thinks guys can look hot sometimes I don't think I would date a guy. It's all becoming really blurry at this point. I think I've been taught so much hate young and being around people in my earlier teens who also had those negative views affected me big time. This must be why I feel significant guilt about both my gender and sexuality, which is why I feel like I'm faking it or it would be wrong because of the things taught I was taught to be wrong is now in my life and I feel like I don't belong. I've working on educating myself on gender and sexuality and being more open minded and unlearning hate, it's helped grow so much and meet so many cool people in the LGBTQ community if you read this and have something you'd like to add or some advice thank you

 | I got my summer box today like many of you. It came in a terrible state with lotion all over, and dirty heel cream (packing HAD HAIR IN THE PLASTIC!) And thankfully customer service fixed the problem immediately and gave me some credit to shop the edit sale. Montce bag- I am in love with the bucket bag! It is so much sturdier than I honestly had assumed, but I am very hippie/bohemian so it matches my style and I couldn't be happier. I do like my bags to be a little stiffer, so I ended up cutting an oval piece of cardboard out of my FFF box for the bottom. I'm so impressed with the quality of the bag though. Miami Beach Bum & Body cream- It is very thick and seems like it will last all summer. Still unsure on the smell being too fake or not! Volition Firming gradual tanner- I'm a super pale girl and o-m-g this is amazing. The smell isn't great but it does work and beautifully at that! I look so glowy. Fsnty liquid Killawatt highlighter- (Vintage Velour)- It's a liquid diet highlighter, it's very subtle but beautiful almost beige/eggshell color? Ban.do Waterproof playing cards- They are vibrant and pretty nice quality. My baby stole them and chewed on them and they are still in amazing shape lol. Versed SPF- I haven't opened/used yet, but I really love my other products from Versed that I recieved in FFF boxes. Style Edit Medium brown root cover up- I got this for my fiance who has been faced with thinning hair. This works awesome for him but let it dry first! S'well Container- It's stainless steal with a Silicone lid, washed very easily. It holds up to 2 cups and seems durable! |

... As I neared the completion of my sketch an hour later, my attention was drawn to the man seated across from me. With a flick of his wrist, he pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, bringing it to his lips with practiced ease. I watched in silence as he inhaled deeply, the smoke curling around him in lazy tendrils. It was at that very moment when I looked at the man as in if he was a close person, not a strange to ignore. I ordered a Funko weeks ago in time for Mother's day. I just got it yesterday. I ordered mine weeks in advance but I understood they had a lot of Mother's day orders to fulfill. The item itself was delivered with what appears to be ink or paint stains on it. The hair piece that goes on top of the head was not attached when I got it and it barely fits as if it was cut incorrectly. Underneath the foot, you can see a hole where the stand is supposed to go but they did not provide me with a stand so the funko keeps falling down.

I don't usually have dreams or nightmares I usually just go to sleep goes black for like a minute and wake up, rarely do I have a dream or nightmares, but for the last two nights I've had this same nightmare occur, it's kinda blurry but the first nightmare was some kind of murder case and I had to find this dead person, well tldr I figure out where they are and open a door and when I do I find a dead blonde female with their hair in their mouth and there's blood everywhere and the body is on top of a pool of blood so the rooms got like a red tint to it, and then I woke up very aggressively at like 3 am my heart was racing very fast and other things I don't know how to explain, and it scared me it took me like an hour to calm down and took longer to finally fall asleep, well last night when i went to bed i had pretty much almost the same story play out but when I opened the door instead of it being somebody i didn't know it was my GF's face on the corpse with blonde hair in her mouth but it was long blonde hair made it a circle and there was blood everywhere this time as well same as last time, when I woke up from this nightmare i sat up quickly with my heart racing and hyperventilating and was kinda panicking, things like that dont really get to me often but this is really messing with me and is reacurring and I dont know whay to think about it

I hate my mom. I hate her so fcking much. I got a letter from school with my chosen name and she went on a whole rant about the fact that I'm deciding this to early and I'm too young. She told me again that I'd never become a boy and I'd just be a trans boy. On the other hand she still thinks this is a phase and I'll grow over it. Before I came out she was okay with me buying mens clothes and she even approved of me cutting my hair. Now she's taking it all back, she wants me to buy women's clothes because "that's how my body is" and I can't cut my hair past my shoulders. So I was scrolling through social media sadly instagram and I saw this person talking abut dying their hair ginger not red not dark red literally ginger and all the comments were defending her for dying her hair saying “all these natural gingers are bitter and negative you guys don’t own the colour” etc when we’ve obviously been relentlessly bullied then I scroll down a bit see an actual natural ginger and the comments bully her. now I have autism too and I take everything seriously so when I was younger I got bullied to the point I was told “spray paint your hair” and I went home I did for years and ended up in the hospital because I spray painted my hair black I was told to off myself by my younger sibilings and I actually tried my first attempt at age 11 bc of hair bc I was told my entire life there was something wrong with me now I’m not against dying hair ginger go for it that’s not what this post is about it’s just everyone will defend someone’s choice to be ginger but everyone will gladly bully someone who’s born with it’s just insulting to me

I made a post here a few days ago about how the (UK) press got involved in the Madeleine case thanks to independent actions by the McCanns and their friends, even though the PJ officers that reported to the scene around 1 a.m. explicitly told them not to go to the media.
Some replies pointed to the incompetence and/or indifference of the Portuguese investigators, suggesting the McCanns were justified in taking matters into their own hands and deciding to overrule the authorities. This made me wonder about the response they’d likely get from the UK police if Madeleine had gone missing in her home country. So I dug a little deeper and got informed about local protocols.
First, the concept of readily involving the media in a missing child case can be attributed to the AMBER Alert, a child abduction alert system implemented in the US “to ask the public for help in finding abducted children”. It was named after 9 year-old Amber Rene Hagerman, who was confirmed to have been abducted in 1996 and found dead days later (sadly, the culprit was never apprehended). She was playing alone in a local parking lot and a neighbor happened to witness her being taken. This neighbor, who proactively called 911, was also able to describe the captor and the vehicle he was driving.
In popular imagination, people often think that police should alert the media by default. "If LE doesn’t ring a fellow journalist minutes after arriving at the scene, they’re being incompetent, they’re failing you." That’s not quite so. In fact, for an AMBER alert to be issued, all of the following criteria – according to the guidance established by the U.S. Department of Justice – MUST be met:
"6 year old boy abducted from Oxford Bus Station at 1.45pm today. He is described as wearing a Leicester City football top with ginger hair. The offender forced him into a white transit van, with ladders on the roof. He has long greasy hair, aged 40-45 with dark clothing Any information – please call (this number)"
As you see here, there’s a description of the victim and enough information about the captor for the public to aid in a successful rescue. Channels are obliged to report the carefully drafted police statement - they don't have free range to turn this into a speculative coverage.
A case like Madeleine’s – even if Portugal had some kind of AMBER alert in place (it didn’t, precisely because such crimes were and continue to be extremely rare over there) – wouldn’t even qualify in the US for the police to summon the media.
By 1 a.m., first responders could never confirm that an abduction had taken place (Madeleine could have wandered off, and even if there was apparent physical evidence of an abduction, such as a broken window, there's no sufficient analysis to attest it wasn't staged). Most importantly, there was no descriptive information of “the captor or captor's vehicle to issue an alert” (there isn’t to this day, by the way). There were no witnesses to the actual abduction, like there was in Amber’s case.
I went on about the AMBER alert because that's the program that inspired UK's Child Rescue Alert (CRA), which was “first piloted by Sussex Police following the abduction and murder of Sarah Payne” and follows similar criteria:
It’s clearly stated that “the CRA will be on a regional level, not a national level” – an international level, like the McCanns reaching out to British news outlets despite being in Portugal, is obviously out of the question. That’s because local coverage often leads to the most promising tips, while a nationwide appeal could result in a thousand useless tips coming in from all sorts of places (even those where the suspect couldn’t realistically drive to in that window of time). Yet all calls must be taken, all tips must be logged in, and countless men-hours are wasted. If we're talking about a worldwide coverage, you'd be getting sightings in Morocco.
Bottom line is: if your child goes missing, even if you’re certain it was an abduction and you’re desperate to go to the media and believes the officers refusing to do so after spending 10 minutes with you aren’t taking you seriously, that doesn’t mean you’re dealing with a bunch of doofus that don’t care about your baby. You would be compromising the case by going rogue. No question.
There are appropriate ways to get the media involved – such as LE scheduling a press conference when it’s deemed appropriate to do so -, and that's all up to the discretion of the authorities. DD two weeks, absolutely reeling - long post
Wow, so I've had a whole year of being trickle fed a truth. My partner of 8 years had been increasingly awful to deal with. Angry all the time (apparently about work). Ranting, cold and distant. Then he tells me, he got 'handsy, over clothes' with a colleague at work and they had an EA. To say I was devastated was an understatement.
He'd admitted to sexting a different colleague a month before and I'd been trying to hard for us after forgiving him. During my efforts he was starting the big EA/PA. After the 'handsy' incident I asked him to move out for a bit whilst I processed it so he moved into a shared house with some workmates. 1 year of us trying to rebuild (I thought) including starting couples counselling. Seeing each other a few times a week.
1 month ago he admits he slept with her that time at work. A week later he admits it was more than once and they had a brief affair but it broke up before he left our house. 2 weeks ago he admits hes lived a DOUBLE life this whole time and basically whenever he's not been with me he's been with her at her house, with her and her kids -whilst keeping his original rented room. So I'm on maybe the 4th DDay now.
I'm reeling, I've been gaslit and manipulated for a whole YEAR. Given the cold treatment and witholding whenever I questioned an inconsistency - and there were many. I lost 10kg in weight from the anxiety alone. He’s been having unprotected S with both of us, sometimes the same day! Feels l like such a violation (risks aside), both now being tested.
I spoke to her. She was equally gobsmacked. She'd been dumped a week prior to last DDay with no explanation from him. Apparently he left me a year ago for her, when I wouldn't have a baby with him. 1) He never asked! It was never off the table. 2) We never broke up! They've been talking about marriage, and venues and even a baby.
I'm so confused. I had 6 amazing years with this guy. Then he became this awful person to live with, then this.
As it stands; he loves me, it's always been me, he wants our future, he's had some sort of breakdown, his IC has brought him back. He can’t tell me why… anything.
He has allowed me to vent, not exploded (as he would normally before) he even cut his ridiculous midlife crisis hair for me. He's given me his phone location access and access to his phone (obviously it's been sanitised). Posted a pic of us on FB, AP doesn't have FB so missed our anniversary post in March obv. She was only ever known about implied or overtly by 4 people he knew and his therapist.
I demanded he enlighten the AP and was present for that text and the ensuing phone call. He's now blocked her so I've ended up answering her questions. Ive now set boundaries and stepped back.
Since then, he's been attentive and rode the waves with me. Hes been in IC the whole time and currently we are still in CC (4 months) but haven't been since this all broke (Next ones going to be crazy). I've spent a fortune this year in IC trying to improve myself because my self esteem has been eroded so bad by his behaviour.
What do I do? I'm so in love with that guy of 6 years but I don't recognise this awful gaslighting monster I've known for the last 18 months. And now it seems my guy is back from the dead. But 18 months of what I can only describe as demonic possession (not really obv, but that's what it looked like), I just... Don't know. I feel like an idiot for considering R. My emotions are everywhere. I alternate between wanting to be held and just the sight of him making my skin crawl.
I apologise for the stream of consciousness nature of this but I'm so overwhelmed and I darent tell most of my friends. Does it get better? How? If you’re a WP and can relate, how is it possible to fake (he says) a whole loving family life with AP and still love the BS and keep them around? BS, does it get any better? How did you ride the waves? How did WS regain your trust?
