2024.05.13 22:26 searching-vector 31 [M4F] #UK #Europe #US League, Overwatch, WoW? Letā€™s play something

Hi there, Iā€™m sure neither of us expected to be browsing Reddit in hopes of finding our partner! Iā€™m hoping to find someone who shares the love for gaming so we can play together in our free time!
Iā€™m 31M from the UK, white, a little over 6ft and trying to find my person! Iā€™m happy to swap pictures so we know if weā€™re each others type. I donā€™t smoke, I do sometimes drink at celebrations, but my real vice is tea! Iā€™m a big nerd at heart and I know my person will be too. My main hobbies are gaming (arpgs and mmoā€™s mainly), Iā€™d be happy to give OW or valorant a try if you enjoy playing those! watching a good series/movies (love horror) and cooking!
Now for who Iā€™m looking for! Please be female (I would like to start a family eventually so no trans or child-free, sorry), 22+ years old, single, no kids, looking for a long term monogamous relationship, a non-smoker and not a party animal (occasional drinking is fine šŸ˜‹)
If we share some common hobbies and you feel like we could click please drop me a DM. I know it can be a little intimidating to send the first message so just try to tell me a little about yourself and what we have in common. Iā€™m sure weā€™ll have no problem getting the conversation going so donā€™t worry about feeling awkward! I look forward to hearing from you šŸ˜

2024.05.13 22:25 LostLight0201 FDVV in a Roth IRA?

Hi everyone. Iā€™m 31 and Iā€™ve opened a Roth along side my taxable account. I plan to max it out this month, my fiancĆ© is in the same boat, however she will be rolling over 4 separate retirement accounts into Fidelity this month. Iā€™m looking for any advice on whether having a high dividend ETF or fund would be a good idea, or if I should be going a different route. When I opened it i purchased FDVV because the idea of compounding dividends tax free made sense at the time. Just checking my logic and hoping to gain insight. Thank you in advance to those who offer their opinions.

2024.05.13 22:22 Subject_Luck_2594 Feeling hopeful!

Just thought Iā€™d share a little momentary success since I know we all struggle with the rollercoaster ride that is rosacea.
Iā€™m 33y/o male. Nose flushing is my primary symptom, which started becoming a daily occurrence early this year (though, itā€™s been happening for at least a couple yrs).
I got overwhelmed upon my diagnosis. Like, a total anxious disaster! I couldnā€™t stop reading articles, journals, and this subreddit. I bought DOZENS of new moisturizes and sunscreens, switched to a more whole food and organic diet, and added tons of supplements. My anxiety isnā€™t totally under control, but Iā€™m not leaping to try new things or freaking out when I flare. Anyway, Iā€™ve narrowed down what I know has made a difference and shared it below. As of the last few weeks, my flares have been infrequent, and when theyā€™ve occurred, vastly less intense in both redness and duration.
1) Excel V laser (Iā€™ve had 3 sessions on the mid section of my face). Wow! Iā€™ve seen red spots disappear the instant my doc hit them w/ the laser. Itā€™s also made my skin texture gorgeous, which I love (hey, if itā€™s gonna be red n embarrassing, might as well be buttery and wrinkle free!)
2) MSM powder 3-4g/day. This is a non-negotiable for me. Idk wth is going on here but goddamn did this pretty immediately change my flush response.
3) Avoiding heat, especially sudden heat (e.g., getting into a hot car or opening an oven). Also, sunscreen. Iā€™ve been using this physical/chemical blend that someone here recommended and really like it (especially since itā€™s cheap AND 50spf!)
4) The hardest thing: anxiety/stress management! Allowing myself some ā€œrosacea worry timeā€ but not allowing myself to spend hours obsessing over it every day. I cannot count the number of flares I caused just by thinking I was going to flare. Ugh!
5) Live my life. I love CrossFit, running, and a drink with friends. Will those things flare me? Potentially, yes. But I have to accept the bad with the good and keep moving forward. Like #4, this one is tough, admittedly.
Above all, I appreciate all of you strangers more than you know. Friends n family donā€™t understand and you all have gotten me through some tough moments. DM if you have any questions or ever just need an ear. Much love!
Ps., Iā€™ll be getting microBotox for the 1st time next Fri and will update yā€™all on how that goes!

2024.05.13 22:21 Disastrous-Walk4529 18M - Looking for new friends in my life

Hi, My name is Haze and I'm from Sri Lanka. I'm currently an introverted high school student studying Maths, Chemistry and Physics. I like listening to music, watching movies and TV series, hanging out, studying and many more in my free time.
My interests include nature, horror and the paranormal, history, K-pop, spirituality (Law of Attraction, meditation, manifestation, astrology), chocolate, cats, and aesthetics.
I'm going through a pretty tough time with my friendships and it feels so lonely, empty and suffocating sometimes, so I decided to join here and try it. I'm looking for long-term friendships with people around my age (16-23) where we can talk about our daily lives, have deep meaningful conversations, and support each other during their good and bad times. It's like I'm looking for a new best friend for my life.
I consider myself an open-minded person so, I don't care about your gender, origins, religion, sexuality etc.
I'm sorry I know this is boring so, Thank you for reading till the end and if you're called to I hope you leave me a msg or comment here, so we can get back to each other and form a special bond

2024.05.13 22:20 XzraSB Why am I still here?

Why am I still here?
I would like to start by saying this is my first post ever in regards to my investment. I had a bit of an existential crisis at market open, while at work today. I think last year I made 38k as a 4th year apprentice electrician, so this was a life changing amount of unrealized gains. Needless to say I havenā€™t sold. You can see below Iā€™ve been loading up on gme since November of last year. I am a bbby ape in origin and Iā€™ve been following this play since I thought there might be a connection when bbby broke out a couple years ago. I ended up holding the bag on that play, though I didnā€™t have nearly the same stake in that as I do in this. So that begs the question why am I still here? Why didnā€™t I sell instead of taking screenshots? Iā€™ve spent the last couple years in my free time studying and learning. Following the same crumb trail that has lead us all to the same conclusion. This play has always been about more than changing my life or yours. This play is going to change the world mark my words. This is about the corruption of the elite ruling class of this nation. This is about making lasting change, tearing down the old ways of the world and building a society that Iā€™d be proud to bring children into. This play to me is life or death of the free world. The only way I believe this change is possible is (as a wise man once said) unwavering conviction. And a little faith that we have a great leader running the charge goes a long way. This is the great awakening, the turn of tides and this is a hill I will die on if it come to it. I donā€™t think any of you needed to hear this from me, more less itā€™s something I needed to get down to mark a time in history and the small role I am playing, because although apes alone are weak, apes together strong! There is no we in investing, but there is me in gme, and hell I know there a lot more of me out there. With all that said, of course I am not a financial advisor and this is not financial advice, but hodl and change will follow. So long for now fellow regards.

2024.05.13 22:20 securimancer Day in a Life of a Principal Security Engineer

Day in a Life of a Principal Security Engineer
a securimancer working to keep Reddit safe and secure
Greetings fine humans. Iā€™m here today writing a ā€œDay in a Lifeā€ blog post because someone asked me to. I cannot imagine this is interesting, but Redditors tend to surprise me so letā€™s do this.
Morning Routine
Like many of us, mornings are when I take care of all the dependent lifeforms under my command. Get in an hour or so of video games (Unicorn Overlord currently) for my mental health. Feed the coterie of beasts (including the children), make coffee for the wife and me, prep the kids for school. Catch up on Colbert (my news needs comedy otherwise darkness consumes), check out whatā€™s been happening on Medium and Reddit, and read a few of my favorite cybersecurity / engineering mail lists. Crack open the olā€™ calendar and see what my ratio of ā€œget shit doneā€ to ā€œhelp other people get shit doneā€ is in store for my day. All roughly before 8am. And the beauty of working for a Bay Area company (if we can call it that, weā€™re so remote friendly) is that I normally have a precious few hours before people in SF wake up to get things done.
Daily Tasks
Each morning has a brief reflection of what I need to get done that day. Iā€™m a big fan of the Eisenhower Method to figure out what I actually need to prioritize in my day. Itā€™s exceedingly rare that I get a majority of my day focused on work that Iā€™ve initiated, so prioritizing activities from code review and pull request feedback to architectural systems design reviews to pair programming requests from the team to random break/fix fires that pop up, all of that gets organized so I feel like Iā€™m (at least trying) to do the most impactful work for the day. Reddit has a few systems to help drive queues of work: Jira for planned work and ā€œbig rockā€ items that weā€™re trying to accomplish for that quarter, Harold (an in-house developed shame mechanism) for code review and deployment, and Launch Control (Redditā€™s flavor of Googleā€™s LaunchCal) for architecture design reviews. Plenty of potential dopamine hits as ā€œthings to get done.ā€
Meetings
Itā€™s exceedingly rare that I have meetings that could have been an email (and if I do, theyā€™re almost always vendor meetings). A lot of what my meetings tend to focus on are around conflict resolutions across teams as we try to achieve different goals or drive consensus to resolve problems that come up on various programs teams are trying to deliver. Working on Security, you can often get perceived as the ā€œDepartment of Noā€, but in every meeting I work hard to make sure that isnā€™t the case. It starts with getting a shared context of what is the problem at hand, understanding the outcomes that we need to drive toward and inputs into the problem (timelines, humans, trade offs), and deciding how we move forward. Meetings are a terrible way to convey decisions as they are only as good as the individuals that remember them, so lots of these meetings are centered around decision docs or technical design reviews. Capturing your rationale for a decision not only helps make sure you understand the problem (if you canā€™t write about it, itā€™s hard to think about it), but also helps capture the whys and rationale behind those decisions for future you and other product and engineering staff.
Thereā€™s also meetings that I live for, those that are building up humans. We have biweekly SPACE (Security, Privacy, and Compliance Engineering) brown bags where we talk about new things weā€™ve shipped or some training topic that upskills all of us. We have biweekly threat modeling meetings where we pick a topic/scenario and go through a threat modeling exercise live, which helps build the muscle memory of how to do technical diagramming, and helps build a shared context of how the system works, what our risk appetite is, and how various team members think about the problem providing multiple viewpoints to the discussion (honestly the most valuable component). As a Principal Engineer, Iā€™m keenly aware of my humanity and the fact that I do not scale in my efforts alone: training and building up future PEs is how I scale myself (at least until cloning becomes more readily available).
Ubiquity
One of my super powers is being everything everywhere all at once, or so Iā€™ve been told by my fellow Snoos. Iā€™ve been told that I have an uncanny knack to be in so many Slack channels and part of so many threads of discussion that itā€™s ā€œinhumanā€. Being a damn fine security engineer is hard because not only do you have to have the understanding and context of the thing youā€™re trying to secure, but also know how to actually secure the thing. This is nigh impossible if you donā€™t know whatā€™s going on in your business (and weā€™re still ā€œsmall enoughā€ size-wise that this is still possible for one human), so Iā€™ve got Slack keyword alerts, channel organization, and a giant 49ā€ ultrawide monitor that has a dedicated Slack tiled window to keep me plugged in and accessible. I also have developed over many years my response to pings from Slack: ā€œCan I solve this problem, if not who can? Is this something I should solve or can I delegate? Can this be answered async with good quality, or is a larger block of dedicated time required to solve? Is this thread too long and needs a different approach?ā€ This workflow is second nature to me and helps me move around the org. Iā€™ve also been here almost 5 years and, as Iā€™m in Security and have to know everything about everything to secure anything (which I donā€™t, but I am a master of Googling, learning, and listening), Iā€™ve been exposed to pretty much everything in our engineering sphere. With that knowledge comes great power of helping connect teams together that wouldnā€™t have connected otherwise.
Do Security Stuffs
Occasionally I actually get to do ā€œsecurityā€ things. These past two quarters itā€™s been launching Redditā€™s ā€œunified access controlā€ solution leveraging Cloudflare Zero Trust, moving us off old crusty Nginx OAuth proxies onto a modern system that has such groundbreaking things like caching and logs , among other things. But really, itā€™s the planning, designing, and execution of a complex technical migration with only a handful of engineers. I oversee security across the entire business so that requires opining on web app security, k8s / AWS / GCP security, IAM concepts, observability, mobile app dev, CI/CD security, and all the design patterns that are included in this smƶrgĆ„sbord of technology. Keeping all this in my head is why I canā€™t remember names and faces and my wife has to tell me multiple times where Iā€™m supposed to be and when. But the thing that keeps me going is always the ā€œbuildingā€, seeing things get stood up at Reddit that I know are sound and secure. Itā€™s not denying peopleā€™s requests or crapping all over a developer for picking a design they didnā€™t know had a serious security design flaw. Weā€™re not a bank (either in terms of money we get to throw at security, or tolerance for security friction), we get to make risk tradeoff decisions based on Redditā€™s risk tolerance (which is high except where it comes to privacy or financial exchanges) and listen to our business as we try to find ways to improve ads serving and improve our usersā€™ experience. So I view myself like any other software engineer, I just happen to know a lot about security. And I guess not just security, I know a lot about our safety systems, our networking environment, and our Kubernetes architecture. It just comes with the Security space, that inquisitive mind of ā€œhow does this thing work?ā€ and wanting to be competent when you talk about it and try to secure it.
Not everything is 0s and 1s, however. A lot of security is process, paperwork, and persistence. Designing workflow approval processes for how an IAM flow should look like. Reviewing IT corporate policies for accuracy and applicability. Crafting responses to potential advertisersā€™ IT teams on ā€œhow secure is Reddit, reallyā€. Writing documentation for how an engineering system works and how other engineers should interact with it. Updating runbooks with steps on how others should respond to an incident or page. Building Grafana dashboards to quantify and visualize how a tooling rollout is working. Providing consulting on product features like authentication / authorization business logic across services. Interviewing, not only for my own team but also within other engineering and cross-functional areas of the business.
End of Day Routine
Eventually, I run out of time in the day as Iā€™m beckoned away from my dark, cave-like, Diet Coke strewn office by the promise of dinner. Wrapping up document review, (hopefully) crossing things off my to-do list, and closing out Slack threads for the day, I try to pack everything up and not carry it with me after work. Itā€™s challenging being an almost completely remote company with a heavy presence in the West Coast, as pings and notifications come in as dinner and kidsā€™ bedtime happens. But I know not everything can be finished in a day, some things will slip, and there will always be more work tomorrow. Which is juxtaposed occasionally with bouts of imposter syndrome, even for someone as senior and tenured as I am. Happens to all of us.
After-hours work is restricted to on-call duty and pet projects. You donā€™t want to know how many on-call queues Iā€™m secondary escalation on. Or how many Single Point of Securimancers services that I still own (looking at you, Reddit onion service). And pet projects are typically things that Iā€™ve got desires to do: prototyping security solutions we want to look into, messing with my k8s homelab, doing routine upgrades. Nothing clears the mind like watching semver numbers go up (until you find the undocumented change that breaks everything).
Future Outlook
And finally, what's on the horizon for our little SPACE team? Weā€™re still a small team coming out of IPO, and our greatest super power is networking and influencing our engineering peers. We got our ISO 27001 and SOC2 Type 2 last year and continue to ever increase scope and complexity of public accreditation. Weā€™re close partners with our Infrastructure and IT teams to modernize our tech and continue to evolve our capabilities in host and network security, data loss prevention, and security observability. Weā€™ve got two wonderful interns from YearUp that started and are going to be with us this summer, and we continue to focus on improving our team composition (more women and diversity, more junior folks and less singleton seniors). All of this work takes effort by this PE.
So there you have it, a ā€œday in a lifeā€ of a u/securimancer. If you made it this far, congratulations on your achievement. Got any questions or want to share your own experiences? Drop 'em in the comments below!

2024.05.13 22:18 Jazz_Brain Advice on used baby stuff

FTM second trimester, trying to get a lot of baby stuff second hand and have had some solid luck in the hunt. Honestly i just get a kick out of finding the thing I want for a deal and I've had good luck with the basic stuff and some toys.
Anyway, couple questions--and I'm here on moderately granola because I prefer products that are sustainable and free of fragrances and sulfates, phthalates, etc etc.
  1. I use Blueland and 7th generation for laundry. Are there others or things I should add that you recommend for getting used textile items extra clean and sanitary before first use? (I'm open to buying used cloth diapers, but this question especially applies to those)
  2. What do you like for cleaning non-textile items (eg the pack n play frame)?
  3. What about cleaning things like wooden toys and board books? I've had some good luck finding tummy time toys and want to be sure I get them good and clean before baby gets here. I don't want to bleach/lysol things that are likely to get mouthed.
  4. What would you NOT buy secondhand? We're going new for car seat, crib mattress and things that go in the mouth, but open to other things too. We don't have a lot of friends or family with kids, so we can't really get things that are used but we know the history (ie a used car seat that we know has never been in an accident is not in the cards for us).

2024.05.13 22:13 Aspid92 Avatar generator [Hobby/Paid]

Hello,
I'm a teacher who uses games and gamification and many times I do projects related to different moments In history.
Iā€™ve also posted before looking for people to create small games for education.
It is something common that I use avatars in many of this projects, as this is something students like.
Fot that reason I started working on a project that resulted in this http://gamificavatar.com/
I did a crowdfunding (which was not successful) and got some of the designs for these 3 eras (Prehistoric, Ancient Rome and Medieval). http://gamificavatar.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/gamificavatar_splash01-768x307.jpg As we did not get enough money, I ended up putting the rest of the money myself to reach the first tear. But I did not get enough for a programmer to combine these designs with the code of https://getavataaars.com/ which is shared on https://github.com/fangpenlin/avataaars-generator.
It is free to use according to the License:
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:
As I have not programming skills I did a not so good version with Genially. For Prehistoric and for the medieval ages.
I'm looking for a programmer to finish the job (for free if possible, but I'm open to see some budgets) and if there is a graphics designer who wants to complete the collection that would be awesome too.

2024.05.13 22:13 Potatoskewer22 [24/M] - Searching for the "one" isn't easy or quick but hey. Patience is a virtue...... or something like that

You know what they say, if at first you don't succeed....... something or another (P.S. pictures of me on my profile)
Searching for the "one" isnt easy, but what can we do aye? First things first, to throw some random bits of info out there about me! (Info dump incoming šŸ˜‚)
I'm 24 and biracial! Half Irish and half African/northern Indian, and I'm living in the UK!
I'm approximately 6'0"-6'1" in height and id say an average/kept build. I also have somewhat long-ish hair for a guy, going near my shoulders, it's naturally straight! I also have a well kept somewhat shorter and neat beard :) I also have very fair skin. I guess I took physically more from one side of my heritage šŸ˜‚šŸ¤Œ I'm also a Muslim lad! So just putting that out there too for the sake of it.
I do enjoy binging on junk food but between my high metabolism and my physically active job working as an electrician (which I'm trying to fully establish myself in) I tend to never put any weight on šŸ¤·
So! What am I looking for? Well it's a long shot. I'd like to imagine something like the female version of myself. My other half. Someone I find attractive, kind, easy going, fun to get along with, can hold a conversation without making it feel like a one sided effort and chore. Etc!
Important note!!!
IF you are not from the UK. Be aware relocating doesn't appear to be an option for me currently šŸ˜… so bear that in mind please. I am open to a potential long distance but again. There's that.
I guess I'm the hopeless romantic type. Fantasising about soulmates, something real, serious, natural and everything great. Is that easy to obtain these days? Bruh. HECK no šŸ˜ but can a guy try? Well, here's to hoping I suppose. Guess only time will tell
Anyone between the ages of 20-27 is welcome! Anyone who wants to actually get to know each other and dreams about something sincere and real! (With some fun stupidity and jokes thrown in there of course, that banter is a mustšŸ—暟‘)
I like a woman with a little bit of confidence ya know? Probably one of the most attractive personality traits, who can hold a conversation and engage with the other person you know? Nothing more off putting than someone who gives single worded dead replies lol
Here's a bit more about me. My hobbies! my hobbies are various. I'd argue I'm an ambivert. Though my main hobbies lean towards something a little more introverted. You have hiking and the likes as well as going out with friends and driving around at night with them, but then you also have gaming which is a huge hobby of mine!!
So yeah! There's my shot being let out. I'd say I consider myself to be an honest and open book and would like someone who is open, honest and sincere in the same way!
Oh! And my preferred platform is Snap (:
So. Here's to hoping!

2024.05.13 22:12 My_Lady_Mia Debunking The Difference Between Cheating And Polyamory

The definition of cheating in a relationship seems to change, and depends upon who you ask as to their expectations.
The stereotype is that men tend to perceive cheating as exclusive to physical encounters or actions. Whereas, women also see emotional infidelity as cheating.
Emotional cheating is defined as sharing something with someone you wouldnā€™t with your partner.
Relationships that exist over the internet or phone may also be considered cheating, especially if you share explicit words, photos, or sexual acts.
With the development and rapid growth of the internet, smartphones, dating websites/apps, social media, and all the like, it is now easier than ever for cheating to occur.
Infidelity is considered a violation of emotional or sexual exclusivity. The boundaries of exclusivity, or omittance, are different in each couple, which is to be expected as everyone has different views and values.
Sometimes these boundaries have been clearly discussed and stated, but most of the time, boundaries are usually silently assumed. If each partner has different assumed boundaries and limits, it is difficult for intimate inclusivity expectations to be met by either partner.
When a partner has violated the unwritten rules around their relationshipā€™s infidelity, it is a ā€˜naturalā€™ response of the affected partner to feel sexual jealousy and rivalry - but should this be the ā€˜naturalā€™ response to cheating? It is the expected, and almost obligatory, response to this situation, but it does not have to be.
In fact, infidelity is not always the result of an unhappy or unhealthy relationship. Take polyamory for example, which is defined as the practice of, or desire for, romantic relationships with more than one partner at the same time, with the informed consent of all partners involved. Except, it is so much more than this.
Polyamory takes into account that no one person can be absolutely everything to another. In modern day relationships, we turn to one person to provide what an entire village once did to give us a sense of grounding, purpose, and stable continuity. As well as, expecting our relationship to be romantic, emotionally open, and sexually satisfying. This is an impossible ask of just one person, as we are only human.
A way to keep the embers of a relationship burning with desire is to ensure that you have time to yourself, as well as, together. Polyamory fulfils and surpasses this by having multiple relationships which fulfil different aspects of what you need. These relationships are also known as consensual non-monogamy, which can be purely platonic, romantic, sexually intimate, intellectually stimulating, kinky, or just for chillaxing.
The primary couple in a polygamous relationship is usually married, live together, or have families together. This is not the end of romance, it is the beginning! As, both partners know that they have years in which to deepen the connection they share, to experiment together in and out of the bedroom, and even to fail - because this is how we learn and grow as human beings.
In the book by Alain de Botton, ā€˜The Course of Love,ā€™ it says, ā€˜When we run up against the reasonable limits of our loverā€™s capacity for understanding, we musnā€™t blame them for dereliction. They were not tragically inept. They couldnā€™t fully fathom who we were ā€” and we could do no better. No one properly gets, or can fully sympathize with anyone elseā€¦ there can not be better options out there. Everyone is always impossible.ā€™
Basically, there is no-one out there who will anticipate every single one of your needs, be able to read your head or your heart, be able to act selflessly when it comes to you, or be able to always make everything better.
If cheating has already taken place in a ā€˜conventionalā€™ relationship, the usual conclusion is that too much pain has occurred, that the trust has been compromised, and that leaving one another is the best option. This may not be the best solution, as breaking up is not straightforward or practical in many cases.
You need to continually work hard to have a healthy relationship. Thoughts, values, feelings, and sexual drive all change over time as we live and learn from life experiences. We have the capacity to process these changes and to consider things properly before acting - so as not to react as an obligatory reflex.
Polyamorous relationships involve multiple people; imagine the relief you would feel by knowing that you do not have to be the unfaltering, infallible superhero 24/7 for your partner because they are not looking to get absolutely everything from you. Being able to ā€˜outsourceā€™ different needs to different people in your life is not only liberating, but actually incredibly healthy too. As polyamorous relationships require more honesty, open communication, care, and self-reflection.
When you have multiple partners, you have the opportunity to learn about and connect with different people on a deeper emotional level. This can cultivate greater intimacy, fulfilment, and stability in these relationships, as you ā€˜assignā€™ different needs, desires, and expectations to different people who can cope with the smaller emotional demand.
A poll was conducted with results showing that being in non-monogamous relationships with multiple people is seen as less offensive than cheating on your marriage partner.
Cheating involves hiding our feelings and actions from our partner, which usually creates greater distance and disconnection between you both. Your body language, micro-expressions, and tone of voice will eventually reveal how you genuinely feel if you are hiding something.
Being caught in the act of infidelity has a psychological effect upon the one cheated upon and include feelings of betrayal, anger, and fear, dissociated self-image and self-awareness for the person cheated on, and a loss of personal and sexual confidence.
The attitude towards infidelity varies from 84% of people in America strongly agreeing that cheating is morally unacceptable, to only 47% of people in France saying this.
The attitude in the UK towards polyamory has now reached a third of heterosexual men and 11% of women being open to the concept of having multiple non-monogamous relationships, as many people now want to have more authentic relationships with partners that are not limited by arbitrary restrictions on affection.
So, why do people cheat? The main reasons for infidelity are: Lack of love causing the feeling of falling ā€˜out of loveā€™ with your partner, or not enough passion or interest in the partner anymore. Neglect, feeling as though you are not receiving enough attention, respect or love. Esteem boost to validate your sense of self-worth by being desired by or having sex with multiple partners. Sexual desire: not wanting sex with your partner or wanting to have sex more with others. Low commitment where the relationship is not clearly defined. Variety and wanting to have more sexual partners or experiences. Situation stressors, such as being in an unusual scenario, under high stress, under the influence of alcohol or a substance.
These factors reveal more about the individual person who cheats, and their personality, rather than anything else. If you are feeling neglected and unappreciated then you will start to subconsciously seek out praise and approval elsewhere.
One way to reduce the likelihood of cheating is to build ā€˜companionate love,ā€™ rather than equating real love with passion. This is where partners have a deep commitment between them and share affection for each other, but they lack sexual desire or passion. It is just one form of love that people in romantic relationships can cultivate. It endures and grows over time with deeper meaningfulness in the relationship where both partners have mutual respect and enjoyment of each other's company.
Companionate love is an intimate sort of love that is stronger than friendship because there is a long-term commitment between you both built upon love and shared values. It is more grounded, steady, and based on emotional intimacy and a sense of comfort and security with your partner.
There is always something about your partner that is still to be discovered. We all change our ideals and reprioritise our values as we grow older, and the hardest thing for us is to acknowledge and accept the true nature of who we are. Over time, actions rather than our intentions become more important, so try to be grateful for the considerate and affectionate signs within your current relationship. It is much healthier to make your current relationship as good as possible than imagining that ā€˜the oneā€™ could be around the corner.
(Of course, there is no condoning staying in an abusive and neglectful relationship.)
No one is perfect. This is where consensual non-monogamy can take the pressure off of trying to be perfect for your partner. Spreading your emotional and physical requirements across multiple partners is more likely to satisfy the majority of your needs than piling everything onto one person and straining the relationship. This means that you - and your partners - will have better relationship skills and will be generally happier.
However many people you choose to have in your relationship, just make sure that you stay safe, sane, and consensual all you glorious, beautiful kinksters.

2024.05.13 22:09 West-Stranger3438 How to report a server? (Wonder of the Seas)

My sister and I just came back from Wonder of the Seas on Sunday 5/12. The experience was as expected but with an interesting little dent. This server (letā€™s call him RW) at Hooked Seafood (we bought the package online before the cruise) scammed our tips in a way that we (naively) never experienced before. Story was simple; I ordered one drink (my sister doesnā€™t drink, we didnā€™t buy a drink package) with the meal, when the bill came, the amount was $0, which was supposed to be a bit more than $16 after the mandatory 18%. Itā€™s pretty ā€œuniversalā€ that bartenders or servers give ā€œfreeā€ drinks, and hoping customers tip the drink money to them. He was busy serving other customers after he dropped off the bill, so I didnā€™t bother to chase after him to correct the bill, and I tipped him $15, then we left.
Rewind a bit; this RW from Indonesia was pretty chatty; he was telling us how hard it is to work on the ship and he doesnā€™t get holidaysā€¦and all. I know they work for the money (wait, who else here doesnā€™t???) and Iā€™m more on a softhearted side, so I thought it was OK that RC makes $16 less from me.
But! When I checked my bill on the app (it was the last day), I saw the drink charges there. This would look like RWā€™s service was so great that the clients tipped him more on top of the 18% already charged gratuities.
Well, which is not true.
Go on with this RW guy; then I remembered - throughout the trip there were sales walking around selling specialty meals. We were approached by quite a few; I guess RC has a system to train them, so all of them politely asked us if we wanted to try something different, introduced the restaurants and how good they are. We booked some specialty dinings online already, so we thanked them, and theyā€™d say something nice like enjoy, have a good dayā€¦and move on to other customers.
VS. this RW - on the first day, our first lunch on board, on 4th main dining (because we joined ā€œKeyā€) - came to our table and told us how chaotic the dinner that night at the main dining room would be, we probably wonā€™t get to eat but had to wait for hours - so we should buy specialty dinner from him for that night. It's my 3rd time on this kind of mega ship, and my last experience was in 2022, which I consider not that ā€œancientā€. I donā€™t believe RCā€™d be so much less organized than before. It was my sisterā€™s first cruise though, and she panicked and almost dived into buying dinner from RW - because by that time she had not seen Windjammer yet; we just boarded and went straight to 4F main dining. I stopped her and guaranteed her we had to have some faith on RC; weā€™d get to eat somewhere and wouldnā€™t miss our show that night.
Well, yup, the first nightā€™s dinner was as expected. The flow was of course a bit slow, but totally reasonable.
I think staff like RW is a dent to RCā€™s reputation (I canā€™t put an emoji here but, wellā€¦). Believe me I donā€™t have unreasonable high expectations (from service provided, well, and - humanity), but a sales/server trying to gain his commission by scaring new cruisers?? I think I should report. We laugh about how dumb I was to tip him the cocktail equivalent charges; itā€™ll remain our joke of the cruise experience for quite a while, and actually some of my friends and families are pretty entertained already.
Finally ~ the big question ~ how to I report this guyļ¼ŸI will not go too far like writing 25 letters to the CEO, but just to copy and paste this post to somewhere in RC? Iā€™m curious how theyā€™d react - or donā€™t react. Iā€™d like to try and see as an experiment, but where do I reach out to RC? I received the email of invitation for review from RC but I havenā€™t opened it yet.

2024.05.13 22:09 Ghost_Pants Prague Show Saturday May 18th

Hello you beautiful weirdos! I just wanted to post a few tips from a guy who lives in Prague for those who will be coming to visit. The show is in an area that isn't really known for their late night antics so I wouldn't expect much after the show, but you are a short walk uphill through a tunnel to a great night spot, Zizkov.
Transport - Public transportation is great here in the city but make sure that you have a ticket. Download the app from this website and you can buy tickets on your phone. https://pidlitacka.cz/en and I recommend you have a ticket as the IIHF hockey tournament is happening in Prague so we have more visitors than normal and they will be looking to fine tourists. Google maps will also suffice for how to get from one place to another and of course we have ubebolt if you prefer to just get a faster ride.
Beer - It is what this country is known for, Pilsner Urquell is the flagship and if you can find a place that has tankovna it will be even better. Lokal is the big chain around the city and good Czech food with great beer at all places. Around the corner is https://maps.app.goo.gl/YdY9AXdzn42QXsGx6 which has a large indoor place and even tables outside in the back. Dva Kohouty has a nice outdoor area and is walking distance from the show. Bad Flash Karlin has some craft beer quite close to the venue as well. If you just want to grab some bottles BeerGeek Karlin is the spot and they have multiple shops and a bar with 30 taps of beer and decent wings. Download untapped and you can find all the craft beer spots if that is what you are after. Avoid the center for food and drink as you will pay more for sure, but that is the same for any European capital city.
Hockey - As mentioned the IIHF tournament is happening now in Prague and Ostrava so there will be plenty of people wearing jerseys and getting rowdy. There is a fan zone that is free where you can watch on a screen outside and drink and eat with a rowdy environment so if you are into hockey go to Ceskomoravska on the yellow line and you can't miss it. This will also make some places much more crowded as the city is full of people for that, especially if they have TV's as people will be out watching the games.
Partying - Despite what all the signs will tell you we have not legalized weed here in Prague so anything you find in some corner store will be either CBD or some HHC variant. The people on Wenceslas square might have something but you will not get what you pay for and you might also just get some cbd or something else so be warned. Zizkov that was mentioned earlier is a place full of pubs that are open late and your odds are much better of getting something legit. I am not here to promote anything, just trying to help you avoid getting ripped off. Please be safe and remember people do actually live in the city so get as weird as you want, but please don't be a loud mess on the streets after 10 PM as that is the official legal quite time for noise.
Hope that helps and I will come back here and try to field questions up until the show. Have fun and let's enjoy a killer Her and I that I hope to manifest.

2024.05.13 22:08 AnalystShort1331 25 M Anime šŸ§™ā€ā™‚ļøand gaming šŸ•¹ļøfriends wanted!

Yo! First I want to say thank you for taking the time to read my post. Iā€™m still searching for a few more people to talk to regularly, so I thought Iā€™d try another shot to find some decent people.
Anyways about me:
So a little bit about me. Im 25 M and I live in the US. Iā€™m pretty chill and easy going for the most part. I love joking around a lot, so donā€™t take me seriously most times haha šŸ˜…. I like to think that Iā€™m a good listener, or at least i try my best to be. Iā€™m pretty decent at holding conversations too, I can talk about a wide variety of stuff, and Iā€™m not opposed to even talking about more difficult topics, as long as it is civil. Iā€™m go with the flow pretty much, and the energy I get from you Iā€™ll give back in return.
Iā€™m introverted and a homebody, my ideal way of relaxing is wrapped up in a blanket watching a good Netflix series šŸ˜Œ, or just kicking back with some friends playing some games.
I spend a lot of my free time gaming lately. I mostly play Apex whenever I game but I also own some other games too. I have both a PlayStation and a Switch and Iā€™m open to suggestions if you ever had another game you wanted to try playing. Feel free to ask me what games I own btw.
I enjoy listening to music. I listen to a little bit of everything. I like watching tv shows and movies on Netflix, and Iā€™m a huge anime fan! I have more nerdy hobbies overall šŸ˜… and I really enjoy science related topics, i like learning in general tbh. I enjoy playing card and board games, dominoā€™s, ect, and Iā€™m semi decent in chess too. I was learning to speak French at one point but consistency is kinda my arch enemy in wellā€¦.everything šŸ’€. I like reading every now and then, and I love a good story. I love memes and funny/interesting videos, so definitely feel free to share memes whenever you find them, and I definitely will do the same.
Long term wise, I prefer to keep talking on discord after talking on Reddit for a bit. I also would like it if in the long term youā€™re comfortable with voice chats. Iā€™m cool with just chatting, but long term it would be better if we could call every now and then. Also, it would be good if we could do virtual hangouts from time to time. Maybe play some games, vibe out to some music, watch some shows/movies/anime together. Iā€™m open to suggestions as well, so if you ever had something you wanted to plan then Iā€™m open to trying new stuff.
Hopefully something in my post appealed to you. If it did, donā€™t be shy, even if we donā€™t have the same hobbies it would still be nice to have more consistent friends to talk to. I can hold pretty decent convos, and can talk about a variety of stuff. So donā€™t be shy, feel free to say Hi! šŸ˜šŸ‘‹

2024.05.13 22:08 Geekdotexe 25M - Looking for folks who just want to chat and maybe play some games

Hi folks, my name is Jordan and I'm a 25 year old guy from the UK. I work most weeks but soon I'm going to have three weeks off which is to say a LOT of free time and a not a lot to do with it šŸ˜….
So if you fancy getting in touch I'd love to chat to some folks and maybe have some people I can chat to during those weeks. I'll give a little downlow on who I am and my interests and we can go from there!
I'm a big book person, fantasy, historical, sci-fi I've read a lot, and that does include manga and comic books as well! I've been catching up on Sakamoto Days and have begun reading Yumi and the Nightmare Painter. I also write my own books though it's just one for now and it's a large setting guide for a home-brewed DND setting I have been putting together for several years now (it haunts my brain at all times haha)
Most swiftly on as you can likely tell I am into D&D and video games of all sorts, I'm a bit strategy and RPG fan (Persona/Mass Effect and the Command & ConqueDawn of War games are my jam) and I actually work in the games industry as a technical artist.
I could keep going but there's plenty more I can tell you if you chat so I will leave this here and feel free to just hit me up, I'm open to anything and anyone.
