ArtSteps is for people who make and enjoy videos of art in progress. Time lapses of pencil drawings, oil paintings, clay sculpture, 100 foot long murals, 3D modeling, zBrush works, digital speed-paints, and other creative works all belong here. While this sub was created mainly for timelapses, in some cases instructional videos fit too especially ones where an artist shows their process of taking the work from start to finish. Check out the guidelines or DM the mod if you have any questions.

Doesn't work when tapping pen or brushing lightly.
Has anybody experienced this problem?
The sensitivity works. But if I want to tap or brush really light, it doesn't show up. I have several other type of wacom tablet and they works really well.
Tried connecting to different computers, still the same. I have installed the newest driver and also tried some old drivers, but no luck. Replacing the nibs doesn't work either.
I think it's not a Photoshop problem, since it behaves the same outside the app.
Would really appreciate the help.
Thanks!

2024.05.14 06:00 rahulmo_d Is there a way to reduce the size of a pasted brush mask after pasting it from one image to another?

Using Mac OS. Version 7.2
Maybe this would be easier on photoshop but I’m not exactly sure how to go about that either.
I literally shaved a word onto someone’s chest for a photo shoot, but I use the brush mask to fix and emphasize the words on his chest in one image and it came out great. That image was a close-up shot of the chest.
Now there’s more zoomed out images where I want to use the exact same writing or brush strokes so there’s consistency.
When I try to copy and paste the brush mask, it just takes up the whole image in the zoomed out photos.
I was thinking about just cutting out the portion of his chest and pasting it and blending it onto other images but it’s tricky with light and the borders of the pasted image. Any ideas?
Thank you!

2024.05.13 19:33 Vlado1817 Advice needed for a power efficient build

HI .. for traveling reasons I ended up working with apple laptops ..(so I had like 5 -6 years away for pc world) now Im back to a desktop and need to build a pc but I live in country where electricity is not cheap .very. I'll be using this pc would for : learning modeling ( moving polygons , z brush .. painting with photoshop and other apps .. texturing .. ) and mild gaming
for what I understand the majority of those tasks are single thread single core or not heavy multithreaded. So Im looking to an i5 13gen ( 13600k or 13500 ?)
also I heard that z motherboards ( z690-790) are those you can tweak power limits and such
or just built something with an non ''k'' cpu ? what you think ? advice/suggestions are welcome :)
what ram ?
gpu: is not an issue coz I have only 3 options 3080,4070,.3070 :P)
psu: I have a corsair 750w gold plus.
thanks in advance
ps: pleas feel free to comment .. at first I thought to go with an non k like an i5 13500. but I read that you can't tweak it a lot and I just keep finding ''TDP'' but ahh that ''idea'' seems to have different concept from and to intel.

I randomly started having shoelace strokes out of nowhere and I only have this issue in photoshop and not in other softwares
Basically everything is in the title, I was painting and then for some reason I started having shoelace artifacts at the end of my brush strokes. I tried using paint.net to check if it was photoshop or my tablet but apparently it's photoshop. Does anyone know how to fix it ?

2024.05.11 00:32 wemadethemcrazy Paint Bucket Tool not filling in the borders when I click on a shape.

I've been using Adobe Photoshop daily for over twenty years. About a week ago, my paint bucket tool stopped filling the edges of shapes only if the bordering areas were the same color as the shape I was filling. I'm constantly adjusting my designs, and often times (like most of the time), I have to extend certain areas and match the colors so it is seamless and appears to be the original design.
I've been using this technique for years and have never had a problem. For the past two weeks, the fill has not filled the edges, so now I have to zoom all the way in and use my brush tool to trace the white line around the part of the design I'm adding onto. It's annoying and time-consuming, and up until two weeks ago, it wasn't necessary.
I don't know if a new update did this, but even if I put the tolerance at 100 percent, it'll fill the area I'm trying to fill with the matching color; it'll even jump the border to other areas of the design filling them in, but the border will remain white no matter how many times I hit the paint bucket tool.
Please advise.

white pixels appears whenever i try to move, brush, stamp and etc on photoshop.
Hi! I've been using photoshop to do my textures for a while, whenever i try to move the image or do some retouching and texturing on the image, these white pixels appear and start blocking my images. Can someone please help me?

2024.05.10 18:05 Worth-Attempt7479 Problem with importing .abr into Krita

Hello everyone!
I (Windows 10, Version 5.1.1) got a lot of brushes for Photoshop that I really would like to work with in my Krita (2D animation) workflow.
I googled and found a guide on how to install them on the Krita Webpage. (Docs>Reference Manual>Resource Management>Brushes) On this guide it said the following:
  1. Click on the blue file folder on the left and then navigate to where you saved your .abr file and open it.
  2. If everything went fine you will see a number of new thumbnails show up at the bottom of the window. In our case, they would all be thumbnails representing different types of trees. [...]
I followed the guide and an youtube Tutorial til this point but they are just not showing up. (Also I went with Settings > Manage Resources > Import Resources, which didn't work) Does anyone here have an idea or a fix for me how I could likely get the brushes to work inside of Krita?

2024.05.10 14:58 craigp5986 Moire issues

Is there any setting or method to possibly preventing moire in camera? It seems like both my A1’s with all the lenses I use have issues with that. Sometimes I can remove it with the brush tool but a lot of the times the “wave” pattern remains after using the tool in LrC. I have used Nikon, Fuji, and Canon and never had this issue before. It just seems incredibly debilitating to fix very time in photoshop for every photo with that issue. Has anyone else noticed a problem with this? Thanks

2024.05.10 11:18 MyStationIsAbandoned New to Affinity. Is there a way to stop images from opening in another monitor but still have them open in a new floating window?

After using Photoshop for well over 20 years, I'm just too used to having everything open this way. I can't find any options and I've been searching for more than an hour with no results.
I don't want to open files as a tab and then have to make them windows. Sometimes I need to open 20+ images at a time. Having to make them all windows will kill my work flow and so will having to drag them all the way from my 3rd monitor to my main monitor. There has to be some way to change what monitor they show up in right?
While I'm here, is there a way to stop updates? I'm on the free trial, but the program getting bought out has me worried now. Like pretty much everyone here, I'm here because I don't want to pay a subscription fee if/when it happens.
For those who care. I've been using Photoshop CS5 for years now and am now switching because I have a 4k monitor now. It makes the UI too tiny for photoshop and even when I fix it to scale with the system, it screws up brush making the cursor smaller than the affected area it paints/erases effectively making CS5 pretty useless to me now. So now I'm here

2024.05.10 00:00 CatdeBourgh Thick, Textured Oil Brushes Recommendations?

An artist whose art-style I enjoy, uses Photoshop + Artrage, and I am trying to see if I can find brushes/textures that can replicate this thick, oil painting texture. I believe most of the 3D-esque texture stems from Artage and I have seen some good oil brush bundles but I don't know if they achieve the same level of thickness I'm looking for (I've seen Grzegorz Rutkowski pop up a few times but not sure how'd I go about tweaking to get the same results in CSP).
Artist is dvsr_rsvd@.
