Does anyone have a male Samoyed? I’m curious because I’d like little miss Bingo to have puppies.

2024.05.13 01:59 Short-Departure3347 Any dog life jackets you recommend?

I want to get my teacup puppy trained on kayak as he can fit in the cockpit with me. Just thought I’d come here to see if there’s any brands you guys recommend. Maybe color type for visibilit6 etc.
Also any tips on getting going used to the kayak both on and off the water would be helpful. I’m not worried about his recall per se it go or him to jump out the kayak either.

11 month old male puppy in kidney failure. Need advice
Hello All! I have an 11 month old Samoyed puppy named Rocco, who in the process of trying to get him neutered, got bloodwork results that we were told by two vets looks as though he could be in stage 2 kidney failure. As unusual as it is for puppies this young to have kidney level bloodwork numbers coming back as though he was 10-15 years old, it is something I was told could be somewhat common in Samoyeds males. We are just devastated and shocked because he acts like a normal healthy puppy. His breeder had never heard of this happening and hasn’t encountered it in any of her dogs but that is what you get for getting a purebred I suppose. We have an ultrasound scheduled for may 31st to hopefully find out more but if anyone has any information about this and what the treatment options might be, I trust this more than Google. The Internet prognosis isn’t good and the way our vet spoke it sounded like we probably should be preparing ourselves for the worst but any information about his possible outlook, causes, treatment progression and/or options would be helpful, I would hate to see him die soon but I also won’t allow him to suffer.

Samoyed Puppies for Sale in Miami
Hi everyone! I am trying to rehome my Samoyed puppies. We are not professional breeders, the puppies were born to our family at home to our dog Siena. There are 3 girls and 2 boys available!
The price of the puppies of $3,000 is based on their care and purebred. The puppies have daily playful interaction with their mom, socially exposed to people of different ages, and constant love. Unlike puppies usually found at compounds where they are not exposed to these things. These pups will grow up to be loving , social and happy companions for your home. We also have the mom and dad AKC DNA purebred Samoyed certificate. In addition to this, a simple google search of “most expensive dog in 2024” will confirm the Samoyed breed being $14,000. You are able to evaluate that the price listed is an adequate price.
If interested please leave a comment below and we can connect! Thank you.

2024.05.11 21:23 Top_Distribution9312 International Pet Move - POSITIVE

International Pet Move - POSITIVE
I see some posts regarding moving pets internationally and wanted to share our postive story and recommmendation in case it helps anyone, or at the very least makes them feel less anxious (I was a mess moving our pets overseas).
Last month we moved from the US (rural NV) to the UK with our dog and two cats (all under 3 years old). When I initally started looking into transporting them, I saw this company posted deep on a comment section and teached out and havent seen much about them otherwise so needed to share:
We went with Pet Transport Pro and when we signed we had no idea how truly amazing our choice would be, but the owner was there for us every step of the way.
Nothing about this move was easy, least of all the pets. We lived 10hrs drive from an airport that they could fly out of, we were in the midst of BA changing their price rules, and our little Samoyed puppy had an insane growth spurt 2 months before flying, making him a “giant” dog and could no longer fly through Heathrow. We also lived in rural NV where our vet said they knew how to file all the paperwork and DIDN’T.
This is where Pet Transport Pro came in. The true breaking point was the USDA “rejecting” our travel 2 days before flight, which never actually happened and sent me into an absolute panic. After that, Pet Transport dealt with all of the communications with the vet and made everything so clear to me. Nothing about moving them was easy, to the point where I was on the phone with the vet 1 hour before they boarded to get new signatures and Pet Transport MADE IT SMOOTH.
Our pets arrived safe, happy, well fed 36 hours after departure from us and 6 hours after my arrival in the UK. They have no trauma associated with their crates and got back in happily when we moved house 2 weeks ago.
To anyone going through shipping their pets, I know its awful and everyone will get through it. I hope this helps someone 💙

2024.05.11 20:54 K0N1V Adopted a 8 week old samoyed pup today and want advice on training

Hey everyone! I've been interested in a samoyed for a few months now, got one today after doing some research online, but this is my first puppy ever and i need some pointers.
I wanted to ask how and when I should start training him. I know hes new to our house and needs to get used to us so im not expecting him to be obedient and willing to train right away. He obviously misses his family, he makes sad noises a lot, and seems to be happier when coming back home from a walk or carrying him when outside. This is cute but obviously not ideal, i want him to fulfill his needs outside. Because of the carrying around tho i feel like he kinda lost the incentive to walk around on his own. He does walk on his own on grass but kinda goes his own way and only follows me when he goes every other direction lol. He also seems to walk back home much more keenly than going out.
I also wanted to know how many days into ownership i should start teaching him to come when i call his name, sit and other important stuff. I don't want to pressure him into training too early when hes uncomfortable, is there any signs the dog could give telling me that i can start? He doesnt seem too keen on treats right now, but ill try some different ones, maybe the ones i got him arent exactly his taste, or maybe its too early. All advice is greatly appreciated!

2024.05.11 17:14 Samhuskyring My sister has 4 kids and doesn’t want my dog to hang out with us

My sister invited the family on Sunday for a lunch in her backyard. I have a 2 yo Samoyed who is gentle and trained puppy. He is very sociable and loves everyone (worst guard dog ever lol). When we are invited to our parents, I always bring him and everything is fine.
I asked her if I could bring him this Sunday and she said she’d rather not because she did some gardening (he doesn’t dig but I know it’ s an excuse because she just doesn’t want him to come).
So now I am hesitating about going there. I have always welcomed her 4 kids to my house even though they were loud and put some mess.

2024.05.09 22:08 yreadthis HELP!! 4 year old samoyed puppy won’t play fetch

Hi everyone! I recently got my 4 year old samoyed puppy and was trying to train her to play fetch. At first, she would perfectly grab the ball and give it back and this went for about 20 minutes. I rewarded her with a treat whenever she did a good job. Now when i throw the ball she seems completely uninterested or either runs to the ball and back without grabbing it, or she bites it but drops it then comes back to me without it. I have this long plastic blue stick and she loves to bite it and bring it to the most RANDOM spots! What should I do?

2024.05.06 08:52 No_Piano_4048 Need reassurance/To read other experiences

Hello,
First of all, sorry for this long post and for my english (it is not my native language).
I have an old german shepherd puppy named Helga (6 months, female) that my boyfriend and I added to our family last december (we already have one male husky/samoyed of 3 and two cats that are 4 and 6 yo). Since the beginning, I had a really hard puppy blues as she was nothing like my other dog (she was and is really fearful, barks easyly) but after some time and some lessons with a really good dog trainer, we started creating our routine and all seemed to be good.
That was before my worst nightmare became reality.
When Helga was 4 months, she started limping and we thought it was from her rapid growth (at 6 months, she weights 27kg), but after two days, the limping was still there so we rushed her to the vet. I need to precise that we have always been very careful, so no stairs, no "jumps" (as much as you can avoid a puppy to jump), short walks but without restraining her. After seeing three vets (two of them are orthopedic surgeons) and doing some radios, they all said that she could have elbow dysplasia. We still need to do a scan to really be sure it is ED (elbow dysplasia) and if the results are positive to ED, we will do an arthoscopy.
Were is the link with being reactive you will tell me, well... the first vet we saw told us to put her on strict rest (so no long walks, no free walks, no contact with other dogs, no more lessons with our dog trainer (I asked about that last one, the vet told us to stop the courses... he even told us to put Helga in a cage as long as we could during the day for her to not move. WE REFUSED OF COURSE, we let her free in our house with our other dog and cats)) and as I am a really anxious person (I was and I am still afraid of making her situation worse with her possible ED), I did what he told (apart for the cage, etc). Helga was on "strict rest" during at least 3 or 4 weeks.
I need to precise that she is a really sweet girl ! She is a happy puppy, she is already potty trained, she loves her "big brother", she is calm inside, does not destroy things, etc...
But well, I think that no doing her doggy lessons (I tried to do exercises at home), no having contact with dogs during 3 weeks did (apart from our other dog) and having to rest all this time (we had to wait 4 weeks to had the appointments with the two others orthopedic vets...) did her not good... she started barking at people, barking at dogs, barking at imaginary things, she started to be afraid of everything and that was when my boyfriend and I talked and decided that we could no longer let her like this.
I started doing the doggy lessons again, started to do walkies in the city where there is a lot of people walking their dogs too, started to let her run in the fields/forest... started to let her have a life all dogs should have.
Then the others appointments came and I really was angry to our first vet when the two others told us that she NEEDED to continue her doggy lessons and to have a free run at least 1x per day. I really felt (and still feel) like I had failed her. She also saw a canine osteopath that told us the same (so to let her live her life as normally as possible). BUT I PRECISE that all vets and the osteopath told us to NOT let her play with others dogs still.
So here I am, working on her reactivity. Some days are good, some others (like this morning) are terrible (she barked at nothing, barked at a girl that appeared at the corner of the street...) SHE HAS NEVER BITTEN. She only barks and I know, I know that "I am not having a hard time, she is having a hard time" but I am so tired. I am so afraid of the future. I don't want to rehome her, I will work on this as much as is it needed. I don't care if she doesn't like other dogs and don't want to play with them on the future. I just want her to be capable to be aroung other dogs without reacting/being afraid.
There is some progress, she no longer (or occasionnally) barks at people/cars/other things than dogs.
But well... If you have/had a reactive dog, please tell me your story. Tell me that one day, it is going to be worth it because I am at a stage that I only see the bad and no longer the good... (my boyfriend, on the other hand, is really supportive. He is really positive and only thinks that things will get better).
Also, if we need to operate her, she will need at least 2 or 3 weeks of REALLY STRICT rest and I am so afraid that things will get worse again...

2024.05.04 07:31 YakFar4153 How do I pick out a female Samoyed puppy from the litter?

Hey everyone,
I'm excited to be getting a female Samoyed puppy soon! The puppies are about 5 weeks old now, and I have to pick my puppy next week. However, I won't be able to visit them in person because they're a bit far away. I have access to pictures, videos, and the breeder's description of their personalities.
I need your advice on how to choose the best puppy from the litter. What physical characteristics should I look for in a healthy and good-quality Samoyed puppy? What about personality traits—are there specific behaviors I should look for in the videos or listen for in the breeder's description?
Since I can't interact with the puppies directly, how can I use the information I have to make the best decision? Any tips or things I should ask the breeder would be really helpful!
Thanks in advance for your advice!

2024.05.03 18:14 atang11796 My dog heavily prefers my girlfriend over me. Any ideas on why and how to fix it?

We adopted an 7-9 month old Samoyed mix puppy about a month ago, and she is a very chill and sweet dog. She treated us both equally to begin with, but as time went on she has started to heavily prefer my girlfriend over me. I spend a little more time with her as I work from home fully, whereas my girlfriend goes to office 2 times a week. I typically walk her and play with her a little more often than my girlfriend does, but whenever she comes home, the dog will follow her around everywhere and completely ignore me, unless I have food. When my girlfriend is not around, she barely acknowledges me and is mostly just low energy and sleeping. She rarely follows me around and is not that excited to see me if I come home. I have had a few instances where I have abruptly grabbed her in the middle of her having an accident just to minimize the damage, which I think spooked her, so I feel bad. We were also told by the foster parents that she was generally scared of men (potentially due to a history of abuse?) but grew to like her husband within 3 weeks. So I am just worried she won't ever treat me like she does my girlfriend and that will ruin our relationship and I will care about her less as well. This is also my first time having a pet so I could be overreacting.

2024.05.03 05:45 ekko1x Help name this Samoyed puppy!

Help name this Samoyed puppy!
I will be picking up this male Samoyed puppy in a few weeks and I’m struggling to think of a name that feels right!
Here are a couple of details about him: - Born on St. Patrick’s Day. - Born prematurely with an incomplete tail. Tail had to be removed. - He’s SUPER cute!
Doesn’t need to be tied into the puppy’s name, but here are some of my interests, if it helps at all: - Greek Mythology - Astrology
Let me know what you think! :)
Thank you so much!

2024.05.02 07:19 YakFar4153 What leash and collar should I get for my upcoming Samoyed puppy?

Hey everyone,
I'm getting a Samoyed puppy soon and want to make sure I have the right leash and collar for her. Can you all give me some advice on what types of leash and collar are best for a Samoyed puppy, and what sizes I should be looking for my puppy?
I've read that Samoyeds can be strong and energetic, so I'm thinking about durability and comfort. What brands or styles do you recommend? What about specific materials?
I'd really appreciate any tips on what to look for in terms of sizing as my puppy grows. Any input on how to properly size the leash and collar for a growing puppy would be great too!
Thanks in advance for your advice!
