I've researched this topic quite a while and as often in music you get 17 different answers from 10 pro engineers.
But the answers vary so much, I'm trying to narrow it down to a "rule of thumb" / starting point that I can just write down and start with when mastering.
Most had 100 ms at the bottom end of their recommended range. Very few going as low as 10 - 30 ms.
At the top of the recommended range most were around 150 ms, others 200 ms and few were going up ungodly lengths of 1 second, no joke. How does one discern all this info into a rule of thumb?
If you are a pro engineer, what's a typical range for master compressor release time that you would recommend? Of course, it depends on the track. Let's say mainstream pop, hip hop, r&b and rock to at least narrow it down a bit.

growing up, everything came easy for me. i did everything effortlessly whether it be academics, relationships, friendships etc. but now, all i do is try try try haha iykyk
not only am i slowly drifting from friends, i find it hard to make new ones especially as a homebody. last year, my parents separated and my grandmother passed. these events led to me being demotivated in college, and so i was dismissed from my state uni. although i transferred to an online school na, i still feel like a failure and always worry whether i’ll fail in every other aspect. when i applied to a bpo recently after being unemployed for seven months, it felt like i turned a new leaf and was excited for all the possibilities. but when i started training, i would always get anxiety and it was draining to the point that i thought of ways on how i can be hospitalized so i couldnt go to work. ending nag-awol ako and i feel defeated nanaman. i used to always step out of my comfort zone, i did things scared, pero ngayon parang lagi nalang naooverwhelm and i end up bailing.

Just what the title says. I'm always the backup option. I have two people I consider MY online best friends and they call me theirs, at least around me, but I'm always their second option. They always call each other first and make plans (like watching movies or shows) together, and I am almost never invited. On the off chance I do happen to get invited to plans with no set time yet, they will forget and do the plan without me. I'll find out about it after.
I'm at work now with 2/3 of my favorite coworkers and they keep asking each other to go smoke / vape and not asking me, which is pretty much how that always goes. I have to ask them to go with me and am never asked myself. The other night I was here with all three and at one point, we were going to go out in pairs to smoke / vape, because we work on a psych unit and one person has to stay at all times. Well, the two of them went to smoke and the other went to go do something. Next thing I know they all went out together without me and stayed out for an hour. I ended up going by myself when they came back. They also have hung out after work several times without inviting me and only told me after. They invited me last time but only after they'd all already made the plans and I guess as an afterthought.
And then there's my real life best friend, who will choose me first while she is single but then always ask her current boyfriend or invite him along to plans we do have together. Which I guess is normal, but she doesn't even tell me when she's going to do this or ask if I'd rather hang just the two of us. With her previous boyfriend she would ask and if I said I'd rather see just her she would invite him anyway. Even inviting him to girls nights and sleepovers.
Idk. It just feels shitty. With the first two I mentioned, I have told them I feel that way and they'll include me for a few days and then revert.

Hi everyone! I have come here to ask about a girl I’ve been talking to so I can hopefully get a better understanding of what she might be thinking or what is happening etc
For context, we’ve known each other for a while and our messaging was always fun and exciting, she would reply whenever she could or wanted to which was usually within an hour and was always very loving and playful.
Until more recently about just over a week ago she started to text me less which I wasn’t too worried about but then we had our first big “fight” after which she didn’t respond for 2 days and I have admitted I was in the wrong and have apologised many times. And ever since the fight it hasn’t been the same she takes longer to respond and isn’t very loving like she was beforehand and she takes over a day to respond sometimes and the conversation just seems flat and in my eyes she seems uninterested.
I did tell her about how I was feeling and she said she wasn’t doing very well mentally right now which could be a reason for the change but I’ve only been more worried because of the fight recently and we have our active status on for each other and she’s online all the time and not replying to me which to my nt brain would say she’s uninterested or ignoring me. Her snap score is also going up all the time so she is messaging people and I can’t help checking it which just makes me feel like not a priority like I used to be and ignored.

2024.05.14 10:26 Artasil Need some help with list/tactics

Hello everyone, i need some help with list tuning. This weekend I played against adepta saroritas and just got tabled turn 2. He won the roll of and I was second going and on first turn he just obliterated my forces. Riptide - gone, flamer crisis - gone, stealth suits - gone. He even charged and killed shadowsun in my home objective with his dominion squad in rhino with his scout move. I deployed fairly defensive but I have no idea that he can move so fast. I didn't use strategic reserves and had sunforges in deep strike but on my movement turn 2 there were no other models on table. What should I do, I need some help with list tuning and some tips about sisters in general. Maybe I should use strategic reserves more? Like leave only flamer suits, shadowsun and stealth on board and other units put in strategic reserves/ deep strike when going second? Also he had Exorcist with really scary inderect weapon that just popped my broasides and I cant even do anything about it because it was in his deployment zone. Maybe another detachment, another units... help much needed. Thanks all in advance and I will attach mine and his lists

2024.05.14 10:26 Electronic_Pop_2287 Got solid 7 back from Ozark Coin

They charged me $500, it took 7 weeks, I didn't get any high res pics or even a framed standing holder!!? The bill is from a bank and I got it in the bank envelope put it away in heavy books for a while then my brother drove up and took it down to get it graded for me I can't drive and don't have much money like he does. So anyway they graded it , according to their rubric online at PMGs website ef-45 means the bill has a horizontal fold all across OR 3 bends vertically... My bill has never been folded let alone bent. The cut is even, it is crisp and fresh you can smell it and tell and see the shine off the bill in the right angle of light... What do I do? Call PMG and say what? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!! I'll attach a pic of it , also wanted to see if anybody really likes it. I can't smile anymore cuz my front tooth chipped out so I was hoping to get the same grade as the other solid 7 cuz it was taken out of a till and graded as uncirculated.....67..... Gaaahhh waited 7 weeks for disappointment 😞😞😞😞

Hello everyone, I’m new to this subreddit. I’m in my early 20s and for most of my life I’ve been trying to deal with the loss of my dad. My dad died when I was toddler. I wish could get into the details here, but I’m afraid that’s too personal. To make a long story short: he ultimately changed our family’s life and others for the worse because of his unconscionable actions. When I was younger, I didn’t think about him a lot, but as I got older I began to think about all of the things that we missed out on together, but at the same time, I can’t help but think about all of the pain he’s caused me, even from the grave. I’ve seen the father-son relationships that my bros have with their dads and it’s honestly something I’ve always wanted to have with mine. Often times I wonder if we ever meant enough to him for to risk everything that he worked so hard to get. When someone asks about my parents,it’s hard for me to tell them that I only have 1 parent, and when they ask about my dad, I have to try my best not to get teary-eyed; this is something i’ve always struggled with, not only that, but it’s the fact that I can’t even tell them how he died. I’ve never even shared it with my best friends and I don’t even talk to my family about it. His actions also affected my relationship with the other side of my family, who I hardly ever see, but I still love them. As a child I was told “just tell them you don’t like to talk about it,” which is why I feel like I have a hard time expressing my feelings or even trying to get in a relationship, bc of the fear of rejection and this secret. Despite all this, I’ve had a good life, many struggles, just like everyone else, but at times I fear that I will end up like him. Sometimes I’m even told that I’m a splitting image of him, at times it’s comforting, yet scary.
As a Christian, I know I am supposed to love others and forgive them, but in a situation like this, how does one overcome something like this: loving your deceased parent that you don’t remember, despite their dark past that can ultimately affect how others would view you, if they knew the truth? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.14 10:25 Swiftbow1 New Progressives and not sure if something is wrong

Hello!
I was prescribed progressive lenses recently and just got them. I can see great in the middle (and kind of the top? But the middle is best.). And the sides (peripherals) are odd, but I'm told that's a normal thing for these.
But I'm especially finding the bottom (reading) really not doing what it's supposed to do. Like, I know it's supposed to be for close-up, but, when I'm reading, the bottom part of the lens is NOT useful and I'm leaning my head down or lifting the reading material up so I can see through the middle of the lens. Everything I've found online says that people with bifocals/progressives usually LIFT their chins to read better, and I'm having to do the opposite.
For the reading part of the lens to work at all, I seem to have hold material like WAY closer to my face than I'm used to. (About 8 inches for good clarity, whereas I usually hold books at lap distance, which is about 19 inches.) Do I just read at an unusual distance? Did they mess up the prescription? Or should I just have them redo this as single lens?
Or maybe I just need to get used to it. But being fuzzy at close range doesn't seem like something you get used to.

2024.05.14 10:24 Sheepish-Vagabond Puppy MIGHT have ingested ibuprofen?

Species: dog
Age: 10 weeks
Sex/Neuter status: not neutered
Breed: border collie cross
Body weight: less than 5kg
Clinical signs: vomited?
Your general location: adelaide

This morning our new pup threw up in his crate after a run around the house while I showered, nothing substantial, just some brownish bile/sludge. No issue for the rest of the day. About ten hours later he threw up again after acting normal all day, mostly hair and cat kibble, so not sure what/when he got into either, little bit of brownish sludge. He ate his dinner immediately after with no issues. Is now napping normally.
I just found an ibuprofen tray that's been clearly chewed, and it had a couple of tablets in it, looks like he pulled an old tray out of the trash but I have no way of knowing if there are tablets missing. It looks like it would have been thrown out because the blister packets were partially open. Both ends were seriously chewed. Besides the odd vomiting which he's never done before he doesn't seem sick in any way, very playful, lots of energy. I suspected he was sick from potentially eating the cat crunchies from the trash but now I'm not sure??
I don't get paid until tomorrow but read online how serious poisoning is when left too long. would he be showing more serious symptoms by now?
He's drinking normally, peeing and pooping normally, and active as normal.

They had to ride through grass fields so tall and unruly that even their ponies, easily twelve hands high, were struggling. Only an hour or two more and they would be back in the Elven territories.
Anataya led. Flanked by her guard and her lady in waiting. The kid took up the rear and Kayara had to fight to not look behind her to make sure he was ok and still there. She could hear his pony trying to feast on the grass and the glorious wildflowers, and that would have to be enough. She knew it would only cause upset if she were to bruise his ego as such.
They had seen glorious sunsets and pitch black nights, steep grass-slick hills and uneven forests. The others seemed quite up to the task and readily familiar with camping. With killing their meal. With sleeping on the hard ground.
She had spent the night in a jail cell before, but there had been fresh straw and a blanket. She was indeed glad that it was a warmer season or she surely would have frozen to death thanks to the princesses scheme!
“What’s with that face?” Asked Tyren, a wolfish grin at the ready. She rode her gelding with the proficiency of a soldier. Hers was the only pony that could keep its head up when riding through the tall grasses. The rest of them had to keep their calm and keep a stern, short rein.
“I’m hungry.” Kayara said simply. “You didn’t want the hare that I caught for you!” The boy chirped up behind them. It had looked like a much meaner version of the pet she had kept as a child. Its eyes were so the same as the fluffy piebald bunny she had once adored. She thought back to the now vacant cage in her room. The hand painted river rock that had been made upon her death. Seventeen year old Kayara had horrid penmanship but hadn't been bad with a paintbrush.
She had buried the bunny in the family's pet cemetery just off the main garden, right below her window. The rock was painted with various pinks and purples and yellows. The colors of energy that floated over the bunny when she pet it. Like static on a blanket.
“We should be nearing the city by tomorrow afternoon. If that helps.” Tyren offered. Her eyes were so cold. As if no emotion flickered behind them, so at odds with the olive branch she voiced.
“Thank you Tyren.”
Houses and farms began popping up in clusters, like the fungus on the trees in the woods. They were built in the style of elven homes. Three stories high and dome shaped. Elven country homes were more like live-in garden centers. Massive living walls of braided living cedar formed the exterior and wildflowers grew out of the cracks. Some of the bigger homes had towers protruding, miniature tree castles amongst the most luscious gardens.
“For the last time, we are not going to steal from my people.” Ana said with a voice that threatened violence. No bullshit, no stealing, she wouldn't have it.
“Ana, they'd likely offer you their food if we rode closer to their homes. Close enough that they could see who you are.”
“I said no. If you don’t drop it I will have you whipped when we return.” Anataya said slowly, anger burning in each word spat. Then suddenly kicked her pony into a faster pace. Then faster again and again; grass and dirt from the road flying into Kayara and Tyrens faces and nearly spooking their own equestrians out of control.
They gave chase and found the princess heading towards the fields below a wealthy man's mini palace. You could tell he was an old wealth by the way they grew their fields in circles with trees and flowers that had specific old timey jobs in the garden.
Anataya ran into a corn and bean field. Sunflowers, growing in bunches, stood tall and bright against the cobalt blue skies. Onion flowers were blooming in the underbrush. Likely other crops could be found in the field but Ana was racing ahead into the center where the tangles of beans and such grew the thickest. Then she stopped.
She hopped off her pony and stood for a moment in the center of the now partially trampled field. Then she collapsed to her knees. Tyren rolled her eyes hard as she banked her pony to a stop near the now hysterical princess. Ana wept and screamed and dug at the dirt. Kayara jumped down from her pony in sync with Tyren, and the two of them tried to hoist the princess to her feet. To no avail, Anataya was too far gone into madness to register their words.
A Violet Corona of light began to bleed into sight before Kayaras eyes. It wrapped around the princesses crown as if it was such. Illuminating the man who appeared in the corn and vines, flashlights and shotgun at the ready. Dogs were being held back by another man. Both were Elves, old and wealthy looking. “The Princess- Braeden the Crowned Princess is in our garden!” “Yes Olh K see that.” The one with the gun, lowered the weapon and nodded at his partner to make the dogs stand down. A whistle and the barking ceased. A stray yap came from the tiny brown dog carried by the third man that came into view with another source of truly very bright light. He was clearly the one in charge. He wore a simple pair of baggy trousers and a tight fitting top. An army issued long sleeves meant to endure cold temperatures. Kayara recognized it because her fathers eldest son had been issued the same one.
His silver chain, a bear head pendant, violet eyes. This was a high ranking officer in Antayas dead brother's army. Fucking hells.
Ana stopped crying at the sight of the necklace. On the back of the head would be the officer's information, although it wasn’t really needed. That pendent was named in stories and songs. Kayara had once seen an opera about the living hero, the mantatur slayer and peace keeper of his own kind. The Great Grizzly of Craephen— and this man before them was one of his main commanders. Maybe an advisor!
“Geraeld!” Ana said as if she’d seen a ghost.
“Antay?” Getaeld seemed to be at a loss for words.
Kayara had no idea what to do or where to look as the princess rushed to embrace the man. He held her awkwardly as the dog in his one hand tried to wiggle free. “It has been so long!”
“Not long enough princess.”
“Geri, you know her?” The one holding four big dogs on fine leather leashes, he held them with a farmers grip but his hair and his robes spoke only of wealth.
The other man, the one with the gun now uncocked and limp in his arms; he said “what are you doing here?”
Maybe he was in charge. His unbuttoned trousers and puffed up boxers told Kayara he was the first to be up and alert that there was something going on in his backyard. The one with the little dog passed it to the shotgun guy and strode forward to assess the damage to his property. “You’ve terrorized my boyfriend's property and terrified our dogs. What do you have to say for this, your majesty?”
“I am so terribly sorry Geri… Geri, please forgive me Geri.” The princess dropped to her knees and widened her eyes at him, hands clasping together at her chin.
“You are a child, Majesty.” He glared but yanked her to her feet, hauling her away to his boyfriend’s house. “I shall take you home. Follow me.” The princess began stumbling and pushing him or tripping him up and so, with a heavy and exhausted sigh, he picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. Like a sack of potatoes! The princess proceeded to prop herself up on her elbows and smirk at the amassed crowd. She looked directly at Kayara and winked! Kayara could have sworn the woman's back arched up a notch…

I'm a dropper who failed miserably and still not getting any good private colleges (atleast some with cse) and I don't wanna compromise with branch if I'm anyways getting some shit college as it will make things harder to cope up with course related stuff and coding side by side (since it's the only ray of hope). I'm now seriously reconsidering my decisions to go forward with engineering stream and I have this momentary option of joining iit's online bsc program. It's the only decent thing that i can go along with rn. So please guide me, whether it'll be doable to learn competitive programming on my own to aim for off campus placements. Is there someone who didn't do btech and still landed a decent tech job (8lpa). Please guide me I'm in dire need of some serious enlightenment. Moderators please approve this post🙏

2024.05.14 10:19 Switzel159 I have a question Google can’t answer

I’ve been looking to try and find the answer to this, but as said in the title I can’t anywhere online. I currently own a marina s10 and s20 hang on back filter. I’ve had my 5 gallon for over 2 years and the newest 20 gallon for only a few days. My question is that it says that I need to replace the filter media every 4-6 weeks. I’ve been going along with this, changing each one at a time (for example I’d change one on one week and then change the other a few weeks later) but I was wondering, won’t this crash my cycle? I can’t believe I’ve only started thinking about this now…My oldest tank is doing great, everything tested well. I’ve tried to leave the filter media but it gets so gunked up and it messes with the water flow. I’ve rinsed it but either way the filter starts to make noise after a while since the media gets funky. My tank seems to be doing fine with me following the instructions to change it every 4-6 weeks but a few times I’ve had to go a while without changing them and then they start to smell. Sorry for this paragraph anyone had to read. Here’s a photo of my betta, Burr so my post don’t get lost haha.
