Clean Title CarFax - Frame Damage CarGurus (Does a dealer need to disclose accidents/damage by law even if it’s not on CarFax?)

2024.03.25 17:53 OmgJosh925 Clean Title CarFax - Frame Damage CarGurus (Does a dealer need to disclose accidents/damage by law even if it’s not on CarFax?)

I’m in California and I’m interested in a 2021 Supra with 3,000 miles on it. The carfax shows a clean title, but the car gurus page shows frame damage. I’m more inclined to believe the carfax because it’s a full report, but the cargurus listing showing frame damage has led me to question whether this is too good to be true or not.
The car is listed at $50k which is about $5-15k below market value for a clean title, and $5-15k over value for a salvaged title. It’s at a Toyota dealer and not listed as a CPO and with such low miles that leads me to question the frame damage flag further.
I emailed the dealer and they told me to refer to the carfax. Is this something they’d legally have to tell me about? Also it just doesn’t make sense to me why it’s not CPO with such low miles, but I don’t know how that works, maybe only certain models qualify at certain dealers and this could just be a great deal.

2024.03.21 19:37 JAWNEHBOY Is it Possible to put a Conklin OmniFlex Nib Unit in Kaweco Supra?

I just purchased a Kaweco Fireblue Supra which unfortunately doesn't write as well as I'd like. The feed is fine, it's just the Jowo Broad nib is unfortunately misaligned.
Fortunately I discovered it's a standard #6 Jowo nib, so I got to thinking: Conklin/Monteverde use Jowo nibs too. Why can't I just slap a brand new OmniFlex Nib Unit from Goulet in the supra? I'd pick up some #6 nibs to swap with my existing feed and tuning materials to see if the Broad nib is salvageable.
But I figured I'd ask around and see if anyone else has tried this already?

2024.02.13 17:11 MATI--sL There's a mod causing problems and I don't know which one

Hi! I've recently started a new game with lots of mods with my friend. Although, we have been experiencing small and short bleedings in random parts of our body when performing, apparently, random actions, as well as panic. He also gets a cold and can't stop sneezing as well as the bleeding. We don't even have an idea of which mod it could be. We though about More Medical, or Immersive Medicine but we tried them in another play through and they worked fine. So if someone has an idea or wants to take a guess on which mod could be causing this we would highly appreciate it.
Here's the list of the mods:

2023.10.13 22:37 Grunt636 My personal accurate collectible locations lists (Magazines, Snowglobes, Evidence, Museum Pieces, Books)

MY PERSONAL ACCURATE COLLECTIBLE LOCATIONS LISTS

I made these lists for personal use so they are not exact detailed locations because I like to still have to explore the area but I thought I should share them after seeing countless guides online that were just the completely wrong location or say "complete magazine guide" only to have most entries "TBD".
I have tried to also post all of these on mapgenie but as of now there's still many they haven't published.
I wouldn't consider any of these locations as spoilers they are just location and mission names.

MAGAZINES, LOCATIONS CONFIRMED BY ME

(Edit: The procedurally generated locations are on any planet or moon, the easiest way of finding these I've found is to keep checking terminals for bounties in these locations. You could also scan planets from space which may show you some but even after scanning all planets I was left with about 5 I hadn't been to so the terminal option is faster and better.)

MAGAZINES, NOT FOUND / CONFIRMED BY ME

SNOWGLOBES

(Edit: You can unlock "old earth" spacesuit and helmet by collecting 13 snowglobes, I collected every one except cydonia one to unlock it myself but you may just have to get any 13 judging by what other people have said).

EVIDENCE

(Edit: These can be turned in for the mission "Burden of Proof", you only need to collect 15/20 to complete the mission which means you can miss all the missable ones and still complete the mission, reward for completing the mission is a unique sidestar "memento mori")

MUSEUM PIECES

(Edit: These can be turned into the coe heritage museum in akila city for credits)

OLD EARTH BOOKS YOU CAN SELL TO AHNJONG SINCLAIR

(Edit: These old earth books can be sold to Ahnjong Sinclair in Sinclair's books in Akila City for 2000 credits each)

EDITS: Tided up wording, formatting and added some additional info.

2023.09.18 21:18 hydrus909 Would you buy a salvage title S2000?

The initial reaction is no, and it was mines for a while. But like the Skyline, Supra and RX7 before it, their prices are getting ridiculous. Surprisingly, appreciation on these has been a bit slower than other 90s/00s "JDM legends".
But its getting harder to find one south of 30k, and its making salvage titled and very abused examples tempting.

2023.09.12 06:57 0Camus0 Share your Auto history!

Well, I am a madman and have had a lot of cars since I started working. At one point we (me and my wife) had 4 cars in the driveway... Is something that just car people would understand, maybe even for car people is too many cars:
https://imgur.com/gallery/CIfa3Xw (sorted chronologically)
It was a 12 year journey. I'm from Mexico, so all I had at first were salvage imported cars from the US, and they were fun and learnt a lot from them, like working on them, since they failed a lot! But they were super fun and I had the opportunity to try different engines (I4, I6, v6, v8), auto vs manual, etc.
Once I moved from work to the US, I was able to afford nicer cars, at least clean title! You can tell right away when was that in the album.
Some cars were on the driveway for 6 months, some for 2 years, some were modified, some were stock. I wanted the experience, trying something new and different. For instance, the Supra modified was fast (DP + E50 tune), but it was automatic, so, I got the M4 manual, which was even faster after the DME tune and downpipes. The issue with the M4 is that, here in WA is useless to have 650 whp RWD, so got the WRX.
However, I think I'll stick with the Evora GT for a while, there is no other car that drives like this (outside the Elise/Exige). Maybe is not as powerful but the raw feel is there, race car slash go cart kind of feel. The power delivery is linear and controllable, so no issues in WA :)
Anyway, share your story, I would like to know if I am the only madman.

2023.07.28 04:58 User95409 Selling price for salvage Supra MK5

Going to sell my 2021 Supra 3.0L soon and it is salvage title due to a spin out accident which damaged the front, right side and rear bumper. The car has been repaired but the respray is noticeable if you look close, bumper to body lines are slightly off, there are missing pieces like plastic fasteners and an insert behind the passenger door panel. The motor and frame are in excellent condition, airbag never deployed, drives straight, I will include a photo of the wreck in the sale. Almost 21k miles. Seibon carbon fiber hood, BN downpipe and Volk Racing Ray's 57s 19" 275 in the back 255 in front. What do you think would be a reasonable asking price? I'm located in the bay area.

2023.07.24 17:47 Cattlemutilation141 Need Help Selling a Toyota Supra MK3 1990

Hi guys
This isn't an advertisement and if it deemed one then by all means remove my post.
Through work I have a 1990 non-turbo MK3 Toyota Supra. The car is a potential perfect restoration project. I have been told by my boss that I can't advertise it through the usual channels.
Does anyone know of anyone/anywhere that would be interested in something like this. It's too bespoke for our salvage market.
Thanks in advance and apologies if this is deemed an inappropriate post.

2023.05.21 07:03 PublicChair6758 Parts Search

Hey all glad to be here! I recently came into possession of a 1988 Turbo Supra! She’s a little rough but in relatively good shape. She turns over but won’t start because the previous owner removed some parts and lost them so he couldn’t return them to the car. I’m missing a MAF with the housing, the accordion tube, and some other odds and ends I can’t pinpoint. Any help in identifying what I’m missing and where to acquire those parts would be appreciated! I’m located in Atlanta, GA. I have tried salvage yards/pull-a-part/junkyards but finding some of the parts is very difficult. Thanks for all your help, advice and assistance!

2023.02.21 00:45 Atomic-Alien Looking for some ideas and guidance with a budget of 12k

Unfortunately, my 2015 Scion FR-S was totaled so I'm now on the hunt for a new ride. My budget is <12k and I'm set on RWD and manual. It would also be helpful if the car had decent aftermarket support. My FR-S was salvaged and I don't mind getting another salvaged vehicle, please keep that in mind as it will make the prices of the cars I am considering considerably lower. I was considering a Honda s2k, another 86, 240sx, Porsche 944, FC rx7, mk3 supra, or potentially an e36. I'm not really interested in the 350z/g35s.
I was in love with my FR-S and wouldn't mind another in the least but I figured I should expand my horizons. I generally prefer something light and nimble that I can also slide on occasion. I'd appreciate any input and suggestions I may have missed thanks!

2022.12.22 05:36 once_a_hobby_jogger My Experience With Lactate Testing - Training for the Indian Wells 70.3. Also some thoughts on Trainerroad and "Easy" Z1/Z2 work.

So I always find notes about how other people train interesting, so I figured I'd put something up about how I trained for the recent Indian Wells 70.3 in case anyone was interested. I also wanted to talk a bit about lactate testing and how I did tests at home in case anyone is interested (I know it's becoming en-vogue these days). This was a long cycle and I did a ton of different things, but I'll try to hit some of the highlights and touch on what worked for me and what didn't. My apologies if I miss anything, go off track, or have numerous typos. And apologies for the length, but there's a lot in here.
A little bit about me - I'm a 42 year old dude. 6' tall, about 175lbs-180lbs. Married with two kids. Quite handsome (according to my wife anyways). I've been a runner for most of my life, having started cross country back in high school. I bought a road bike about 10 years ago after our first kid was born, but I didn't really ride it very seriously until recently. I did my first two triathlons back in 2019, but then took a hiatus due to COVID. So I consider myself a noob when it comes to biking and swimming, but I am a fairly experienced runner.
My training for this race started after the Oceanside 70.3 back in April. I completed that race around 5:22, with a 34 minute swim, a 1:45 bike, and a 1:50 run. I had a pretty bad run in that race, I think primarily due to over-biking and under-fueling. Looking at the results, I figured my weakest discipline was still cycling, so I decided to focus primarily on biking for the next training cycle. I also happened to find this post by Alan Couzens, which also confirmed that I was fairly weak in biking compared to running, and especially weak in swimming based on my pool times.
I used trainerroad for Oceanside, and while I wasn't crazy about the triathlon plan I decided to continue using it for Indian Wells because I figured they knew what they were doing for the bike. I did end up scraping the run workouts and doing my own thing though, from the previous cycle I knew there was just too much intensity between all three sports (I'll touch on this again later). I did the standard base-build-speciality phase, but for base training I decided to do the traditional base for about 16 weeks before preceding into the 70.3 build and speciality phases. For running, I had success following Jack Daniels' 4 week cycles marathon plan, so I tried to pencil in a heavily modified version of that plan to coincide with trainerroad's four week cycles. Using this I generally had three run "workouts" a week - the Sunday long run, the Saturday brick, and the weekly JD quality session which rotated between VO2Max work, marathon pace/70.3 pace work, and threshold work. I also did an easy run, usually about an hour long, once a week. For swimming I loosely followed the Trainerroad workouts, but usually dropped the heavier intensity sets and kept it easy-ish.
I did my first lactate test in May, in a lab, to get an idea of where I was fitness wise on the bike and where I should focus my efforts. I have a running book called "Training the Uphill Athlete" that goes quite in depth on Aerobic Thresholds and comparing that to your lactate threshold to get an idea of how strong your aerobic system is. I also got really interested in reading the work of Alan Couzens (who I mentioned above). He is a big fan of lab testing, including testing on fat burning. I did my test at a lab in Sacramento with UC Davis health, results below:
Watts HR Lactate (in mmol/L
140 108 1.1
155 113 1.2
170 116 1.1
185 124 1.2
200 131 1.8
215 139 2.3
230 146 3.2
245 150 3.8
260 156 5.3
The test protocol here was to increase by 15 watts every four minutes. Samples were taken from my earlobe.
This gave me an Aerobic Threshold (AeT) of 205 watts/134bpm and a lactate threshold of 246 watts/152 bpm. I think my Trainerroad FTP at the time was just north of 250, so not terribly far off. Using the methodology from "Uphill Athlete" I was still aerobically deficient, so I felt good continuing with the traditional base plan instead of the sweet spot base type plans trainerroad is known for.
For my fat burning, I actually had pretty good results - around 6 kcal per minute if I remember correctly. Right around what Alan Couzens recommends as a place you want to be. I had a few take aways from this session though. First, my aerobic system wasn't that strong, I didn't pass the "10% test" advocated by Uphill Athlete. The guy running the test also confirmed that my aerobic system looked like it could use some work. BUT, he also noted I had a fairly weak anaerobic system. By the time I got past lactate threshold I was pretty gassed, not producing that much lactate, and while my fat burning was solid my carbohydrate burning looked to be impaired. So I knew I needed to work on my aerobic engine, but I also needed to do some glycolytic work to improve my anaerobic system.
Base Training
For base work I started off the first 8 weeks with trainerroad's traditional base 1, first the low volume plan for 4 weeks then the medium volume plan for 4 weeks. This was all easy riding, generally around 1.5 hours a day. For running I actually did a half marathon plan in prep for an open half marathon I had scheduled at the end of May. After Oceanside I felt like I had a PR in me, so I gave it a shot, running 1:32:56, beating my old PR of 1:33:08 from 6 years prior by about 12 seconds. Not much, but a win is a win. For swimming I did easy maintenance work.
From there I continued the trainerroad medium volume traditional base, phases II and III. Side note here - in the trainerroad traditional base plans there's still some harder days that includes sweet spot work, tempo, and threshold work. It wasn't all easy running. This was also when I switched over to the Jack Daniels' running plan and bumped up my swim volume. I ran into a few difficulties during this phase, most notably being the timing of hard days. My initial plan was to stack hard days, in particular doing my hard run the same day as a hard bike. This turned out to be difficult for me, the hard bike sessions in the morning were too hard too be recovered by the time I did a harder run later in the day. So I ended up moving my hard runs to a separate day, reducing my rest periods. Second, my kids started up their rec swim season around this time, so afternoons became a lot more busy, and Saturdays started getting filled with all day swim meets. I worked around this for the most part, but it did make long Saturday bike rides impossible. I kept Sundays for my long run because I had another race planned in July, but my wife ended up coming down with COVID so I had to bail on that race and stay home with the kids.
Build Phase
Around the beginning of August was when I started the trainerroad build phase, and the trainerroad build phase is hard - the first and third weeks includes a VO2Max ride, a tempo ride, and a long ride on the weekend. The second week includes a VO2Max ride, a Threshold ride, and then a long tempo ride on the weekend. I tried to keep doing my one run workout a week, which generally meant a hard bike Tuesday, a hard run Wednesday, a hard bike Thursday, a long bike Saturday (which is taxing in it's own way) followed by a brick run (which is hard), and a long run on Sunday (which is also taxing in its own way). This was a ton of work, but after completing the base phase I felt like I was able to tackle the workouts day to day. And in fact I was able to hit it most days, but sometimes I had to skip workouts to keep my training load in check.
My kids were done with swim at the end of July, but my daughter (whose 9) asked to swim with me in the afternoons, so I started bringing her with me. This was fun, but I do think it turned out to be a bit detrimental to my swimming, which I'll touch on later. But in short her best event is the 50 yard butterfly, which she can do in about 42 seconds. The training for this is quite a bit different than the training required for a 1.2 mile open water swim. But, family comes first, and so I planned workouts for us to do together that would help her improve.
During this time I used intervals.icu to track my fitness metrics - CTL, ATL, and TSB (aka form) to keep an eye on my numbers. Going back to those benchmark numbers from Alan Couzens, he notes a correlation between CTL and performance, so I had a goal of getting my CTL up to around 100 or so by the time I hit the end of the build period, and up to 110 in the speciality phase.
By the end of the build phase I was feeling run down and desperately needing a break. I got my CTL up to a peak of 96, but I felt like crap. We had a family trip to Hawaii planned for early October, which coincided with the recovery week of trainerroad, so I pushed through any fatigue I had the last week or two of the build phase and really just hammered myself down. I'd have to go back through my training logs, but I think during this phase I almost completely dropped my hard run day and just did a hard brick run and the long run.
Hawaii was super fun, but not particularly relaxing. We did a ton of snorkeling, visited the volcano, and drove around quite a bit. It was an active vacation, coupled with a lot of mai tais. Probably not conductive to training, but whatever. Coming back from Hawaii I felt like I needed a vacation from my vacation, but training had to resume, so I jumped back into the Trainerroad 70.3 specialty phase and started hitting it hard.
One thing I wanted to touch here on is Trainerroad's AI FTP detection. I started using this during the base phase, and initially (while doing all easy riding in base) it started telling me my FTP was going down. But by the time I started getting into the build phase it started going up again, and by the end of the build phase it was in the 260s, I think around 267. This was roughly a 20 watt increase in FTP compared to where I was in the beginning, which is good for the ego. But I am certain it was inflated, and started me down a negative spiral into overtraining.
Specialty Phase and Overtraining
On paper the trainerroad speciality phase looks like it's not too hard. But the weekly threshold sessions were above FTP, which is hard. Coupled with an FTP that was set (probably drastically) too high meant running myself into the ground doing "threshold" workouts at a VO2Max intensity. By the end of the three weeks of work my body was hurting, I had tons of knots that I could not get out with foam rolling, and I needed the rest week. That Friday I decided to get a massage to work out the knots, and the next day I felt like I could not get off the couch. I felt like a puddle, any and all tension in my body was gone. I felt so fatigued that I took COVID test to make sure I wasn't sick. That came back negative, and the only thing I could think was I got hit with overtraining syndrome. I had some of the symptoms, especially sleeping poorly. But not all, so I felt like maybe I was still in the clear. I skipped my long ride and brick run on Saturday, skipped Sunday's long run, and did some easy rolling and stretching on Monday coupled with a Z2 ride. I felt pretty crappy this week, and was certain I was on the cusp of overtraining. But, I still had a race to do, so I tried to figure out the best way to go forward and salvage my training.
Run Lactate Test
I want to backtrack here a bit and mention a lactate threshold test I did for the run in late September, during the build phase. I purchased a lactate plus meter so I could do my own testing. I figured between the 2-3 sports (if I ever test the swim) and wanting to do follow up tests it would be more cost effective to do my own testing rather than go to a lab (that was a 90 minute drive) each time I wanted to test. My results are below:

Speed (mph) Heart Rate Lactate (mmol/L)
4.3 104 1.3
4.9 113 1.0
5.5 119 1.5
6.1 125 1.0
6.7 135 0.9
7.3 145 3.0
7.9 155 2.7
8.5 165 6.5
9.1 170 6.1
For this test I did a 15 minute warm up, testing my lactate levels every 5 minutes. Baseline (pre-test) was 1.8 mmol. During the ramp I did 5 minute intervals at each step with a brief 1 minute break to take the readings. You're supposed to go into the test fasted, but I was hungry and fatigued, so I ate pretty much a full breakfast 30 minutes before this. That theoretically may have increased my lactate levels, but I'm not so sure (based on more recent readings).
A few things I'd note here. First, I'm like 90% sure the readings at 7.3 mph and 8.5 mph are too high. I don't think I've ever seen a case where lactate goes down as intensity goes up. I guess it is possible the lactate levels plateau, similar to the differences between 5.5mph and 6.1 mph, but I can't be sure. Second, you'll notice once I'm warmed up my lactate levels get nice and low, under 1mmol/L. This indicates a much more developed aerobic system for running compared to biking. Finally, it's a bit difficult to pinpoint where my AeT is due to the weird reading at 135bpm. It's either pretty low compared to my lactate threshold, around 130bpm, or fairly high, around 150bpm. Finally, I had to bail on the last rep 3 minutes in, I was on the verge of failure and didn't want to go flying off the treadmill. So my top end was a bit limited.
Salvaging the Training Plan
After my rest week I was still feeling super fatigued, and I knew I needed to make some changes so I could actually complete my race instead of digging myself further into a hole.
First, I did an actual ramp test in trainerroad instead of using AI FTP detection. My FTP feel from 267 all the way back down to 250, right where I started. Now, to be fair, I did this ramp test down mostly down in the aero bars, rising only for the final two steps when my heart rate was way up. But that's still a huge difference.
Second, I started slowing way down for my runs. I read an article about Norwegian training, and how they do a lot of their easy miles below the 1 mmol mark (Alan Couzens keeps popping up). Alan Couzens mentioned doing easy miles at about 70% of max heart rate, which for me was about 125 bpm, so I tried to slow way down on my runs and keep my heart rate between 125 and 135. On long runs this meant taking 1 minute walk breaks every mile. Before, I would generally run my long runs at an RPE of 6 (which is what trainerroad recommends). These runs felt closer to a 4 on the RPE scale, so actually easy.
I mostly stuck to the trainerroad plan though, keeping the same workouts just at a much lower FTP. These felt much more manageable. I think I dropped most intensity from my running, but I was still doing some harder swimming. I did add in one tempo/sweet spot ride the week before the race to get an idea of how race pace would feel and what to expect. I also did a lactate reading at 85% of FTP to get an idea of if that was a realistic power output - and it wasn't. I think the reading after a 20 minute interval was around 3.8, right on the cusp of lactate threshold. This was not a great sign of things to come, so I decided I should pace a bit slower at 80% of ftp.
I had heard the swim at Indian Wells was cold, so for the three weekends before the race I swam out in the Berkeley Marina in the San Francisco Bay to acclimate to the cold. Water temps were around 54-55, which are brutal, even with a wetsuit. I'm glad I did this though, the first swim I could barely get my face in the first couple of minutes, by the third swim I felt much better.
Going back to CTL, my CTL during this very extended taper dropped quite a bit from the peak of 96, all the way down to 78 right before race day. My form number indicated I was losing fitness as well, but again, at this point I was just happy to be there at all and not laid out on the couch.
The Race
We drove down to Indian Wells from the SF Bay Area the Friday before the race. Side note for any parents who want to do this race - the Hyatt in Indian Wells is awesome for kids. They have a super cool water park and my kids had a blast.
My initial goal for the race was to break 5 hours. I thought on a flat course with well executed transitions this might be possible. I figured the numbers necessary to make this happen would be a 33 minute swim (which I did in Oceanside), a 2:37 bike (based on best bike splits), and a 1:43ish run, and two very well executed transitions. It would be tight but doable.
Well right off the bat I did the swim in 40 minutes, which meant the plan was out the window. I'm not totally sure what happened here. I felt like my swimming was stronger, but there were not nearly as many people around me so maybe I lost the effects of the draft. But even then, this was drastically slower than the pace I can hold in the pool. Water temp was 57, which compared to the 54/55 in the bay didn't feel that bad actually. I did wear my booties, which made my feet float. So maybe that slowed me down some?
My first transition was fairly slow, at 7 minutes, which only solidified me not making the goal time.
My game plan on the bike was to keep my HR in check instead of watts - I aimed for about 135bpm. this ended up keeping me around 200 watts, about 80% of my 250w ftp. The bike was close to my estimate - 2:38. But it was a tough bike, by the end I was pretty fatigued and felt like I was riding my limit. Turns out flat is fast, but also mean you peddle non-stop for nearly 3 hours. I tried to consume roughly 100 grams of carbs per hour on the bike, which was tough. And I felt like I was going to throw up by the time I hit the run.
T2 went well. I stopped for the porta-potty and was on my way.
For the run I planned to go out "easy". I knew from my brick runs that going out easy typically put me around my goal race pace, and sure enough that happened here, going through my first mile at 7:38 with a fairly low hr of 144. From there though the course got hilly, and I started hitting most of my splits around 8 minutes or so. Slower than my goal pace. I knew to expect hills, but even then the course was a lot hillier than I expected. I didn't eat anything during this time, my stomach was right on the edge of giving up, so I took in water and gatorade only. This came to bite me around mile 12 when I finally had to walk. Between the hills and no food my quads were completely shot. I shuffled in the last two miles at a 9:30 pace, finishing the run in 1:48 and the race in 5:19. A 3 minute PR, but far short of the goal. I want to write that the Indian Wells course is easier than Oceanside, but I'm honestly not sure if that's the case. The swim sucks due to the cold, the bike course is a slog with zero breaks, and the run is stupid hilly.
On the bright side the Palm Springs area was fun. The Hyatt was awesome, and hiking at Joshua tree the day after the race was amazing.
Post-Race Analysis
So for the swim I think that doing harder anaerobic stuff with my daughter and not a lot of longer sets hurt me. I also started doing a lot of pull sets with the pull buoy in an attempt to get better and not using my legs to "save them" for the bike and run. During the race I don't think I kicked as much as I usually do in a race, and that likely slowed me down. I do also think the lack of people affected my ability to draft.
For the bike and run I feel pretty good about my performance for the most part. My bike split was close to the goal. For the run I felt strong for the first 11 miles or so, but I think the hills and temperature affected me more than I expected. It wasn't "hot" by any means, but the temps did get up to around 70 which is a lot warmer than the 50s I had been experiencing in the Bay Area.
Now that I've gotten back into the swing of things I've done two more lactate tests - one each for running and cycling.
First up the run test:

Speed (mph) HR Lactate (mmol/L)
6.0 (warm up) 121 0.8
6.7 135 1.2
7.3 145 1.1
7.9 157 1.8
8.5 165 4.9
9.1 172 5.2
I followed a similar protocol as before - 5 minute steps at predetermined intervals. This one I did a couple of hours after eating. I was originally going to start at 5.5mph, but after warming up for 15 minutes at 6mph my lactate was nice and low at 0.8 mmol/L, so I skipped that step. I was also going to do 6.1 mph but I spaced out and just did 6.7mph.
A few things to note. First, even at 7.9mph my lactate levels were still below 2.0, which is low. This was about a 1 mmol increase over my baseline at 0.8, so that's roughly my Aerobic Threshold (AeT). This is a very high percentage of my lactate threshold, well within the 10% test from Uphill Athlete. Keep in mind that since the beginning of December I've done almost all of my runs between 125-135 bpm. The only exceptions being short brick runs on Saturdays and the race itself. Second, I was able to actually complete the final interval at 9.1 mph, and I probably should have tried going for one more after. My lactate reading was also quite a bit lower than the one from back in September, which could be for a few reasons. Finally, my lactate levels plateau at that 9.1mph mark, indicating I should probably incorporate some harder supra threshold work into my training.
Overall though I think the curve here looks a lot better, and I feel like zone 1/zone 2 training really worked for me.
Next was the bike:
Watts Heart Rate Lactate (mmol/L)
140 124 1.2
155 128 1.4
170 133 2.0
185 141 2.2
200 147 2.7
215 154 4.8
230 160 5.6
245 166 7.2
Test protocol here was 5 minute intervals (instead of four minutes from back in May). I did the entire test in the aero position, which likely affected my numbers negatively versus the previous test where I alternated between upright and aero bars every minute or two. I also had some coffee pre-ride, but was otherwise fasted. I also did a 20 minute warm up, with my baseline lactate levels at 1.2 pre-ride and 1.5 after the warm up.
So right off the bat my lactate levels after the warm up were above my baseline, indicating a still weak aerobic system. Second, my Aerobic Threshold fell from around 200 watts/131bpm all the way down to 170 watts at 133 bpm. My threshold power is somewhere between steps 5 and 6, likely around 226 watts, down 20 watts from the 246 from before. My threshold heart rate is higher though, so silver linings I guess? I also managed to hit much higher lactate levels and higher overall higher heart rate, at 7.2mmol/L and 166 respectively.
So quite a disappointing result, and I think a good indicator of why the bike portion of Indian Wells felt as hard as it did. Assuming my FTP was actually closer to 226, my effort put me at 88% of FTP. Quite high.
I don't want to put all of the blame on these results on Trainerroad, I'm sure at least part of the lower power levels is due to being in the aero position. But I can't help but feel that doing so many hard intervals at too high an FTP overdeveloped my anaerobic system, causing my glycolytic system to become dominant and take my FTP down with it. (see here how increasing anaerobic capacity can lower your FTP).
One example from before my ramp test was the workout Palmer. This was a threshold workout done slightly above FTP with short rest periods. For me this was 2 minutes at 275 watts with 1 minute recoveries on my supposed 267 watt FTP. But I was absolutely dying (this was the workout that had me reevaluating everything from trainerroad). The workout was supposed to be 103% of FTP or so. But if my FTP was actually 250 per my ramp test two weeks later, I was actually at 110% of FTP, well into VO2Max territory. IF my FTP was actually supposed to be 226 down in the aero bars (which is where I did the workout), I was doing this workout at an astronomical 120% of FTP, right at anaerobic capacity efforts.
Overall I think the trainerroad plan was just too much intensity and not nearly enough easy work. Couple that with AI FTP detection and their system just did not work well for me.
Going Forward
I'm signed up for the Oceanside 70.3 again in early April, so I'm working towards that. I have decided to drop trainerroad and give Training Peaks + Zwift another go. I was originally going to just create my own plan in Trainerroad, but the more I thought about how poorly I did on their plan the more bitter I got, and I didn't really want to give them more of my money.
For this cycle I'm going to give the Norwegian training fad a shot as there's a lot there that jibes with me. First off, the double threshold days are interesting. I noted above that I initially tried to stack my hard days, but that was too much. So the idea of doing slightly easier hard workouts, but doing two of them, fits right in with my philosophy. Second, keeping my easy days super easy as I have been doing for run training has seemed to work out really well for me, so I'm going to keep doing that.
As far as focus goes, I need to do a lot of easy zone 2 work on the bike and try to build my aerobic threshold level back up. For the run, I plan on incorporating a bit more speed work, both threshold stuff in the form of marathon pace work as well as some faster sprint work to hopefully improve my top end. For the swim I'll keep working with my kids in the pool, but I also intend to do some solo stuff as well so I can work on longer sets.
Beyond Oceanside I'm signed up for my first full in October - Ironman California. So I'm really going to lean in hard on the easy work and zone 2 stuff, with just a bit of sub threshold work as support training. I plan to build up my volume as much as I reasonably can, all while keeping an eye out for the signs of overtraining.
I will also continue with the lactate testing as I think it's a really solid approach for me to evaluate how my training is going and to evaluate how I should approach my training in the future. I also like that it helps me calibrate how an effort feels with the metabolic stress on my body.
If anyone has made it through this massive amount of text, thank you for reading!

2022.10.01 17:39 Jovaen need some advice refocusing my game

Hello, delicious friends.
Long-time GM, rookie designer here. I've posted to this community on occasion and to osr before, and now i'm in a bit of a creative dark spot.
disclaimer #1: this post is not a sales pitch, nor a cheeky way of advertising myself, as the thing i'm working on is literally years away from being finished.
disclaimer #2: this post is a way for me of reassuring myself of the direction i'm thinking of taking, and possibly to vent some of my internal frustrations with the design of my game -- and its bloat that kinda excites, kinda terrifies me.
disclaimer #3: this post is lengthy. Sorry for that! If you're not into reading lengthy and less-than-perfectly-organised thoughts, that's perfectly understandable: leave a downvote, and carry on! Also, i'm non-ENL, so please excuse all the mistakes, typos, and whatnot. 😅
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
preface (for context): back in September 2020 i was binge-watching Dorohedoro, while also gorging on music by Noneuclid (death/thrash metal w. incredibly poetical themes of cosmic horror), and i came up with an idea for this game. It was supposed to be this disgustingly delicious soup of my fav things: Chaos, cosmic horror, linguistics, murky occult & chaos magic, grungy crust-punk vibes, psychedelics, more extreme music influences, more Chaos, and a huge Miévillian city with a definite dystopian bend to act as the setting. I called this thing Psychonauts.
In January 2021, i ran my first mini-campaign in my homebrew thing. I can now positively say it was one of the best, if not the very best campaigns i've ever run. It was an online campaign, something i almost never do, but i wanted to utilize the remote nature of the game to the max. With that in mind, the players were thrusted into the bodies of psychonauts / space travelers on a vessel stranded deep in some space anomaly. There was confusion. Who were they? Where were they? Where were the other players? They were also on the same ship, but there were no other players in sight. They only had their comms (i.e. Discord) to communicate, verbally and textually, no video allowed. What were those weird voices and signals in the comms? Unknown parties trying to contact them, breach their ship. White noise coming from afar, cryptic messages coming from some other parties. In the end, we had a space anomaly that shattered one dimension into a couple fragmented shards, alien consciousness mentally and physically overtaking the players' bodies, horrifying creatures laying claim on their cargo -- and a whole lot of psychonauting to escape the anomaly. We also had an independent AI they first thought was me trying to contact them, later revealed to be a secret bonus player who was acting of their own volition the entire time, teasing the players, sometimes helping them, sometimes messing with them. We had decoding secret codes, singing binaric hymns to inscrutable eldritch gods, being stranded in a wasteland between worlds, combating your fears and inner demons made manifest . . . all this over 3 incredibly good sessions. It was beyond amazing, we all loved it to pieces.
So, with my initial thoughts and the phenomenal mini-campaign under my belt, I've carried on working on that vision. Over the past 2 years, Psychonauts became Hypnonauts, and a whole lot of stuff was created. The documents are still very much disorganized and in 'drafts' mode, but each month they are taking shape more and more.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Here goes some overview of the design philosophies, mechanics, and setting as i'm now seeing them.
the philosophy: Hypnonauts is meants as a sourcebook with a complete setting and mechanic, but can also be useful for people running OSR and OSR-adjacent games, since a lot of the contents are tables upon tables -- alien curios, gear, factions and their politics, shrooms and their weird mutagenic effects, mercs you can hire, and so on, and so forth. The general vibes that came to inspire me are those found in games like Vaults of Vaarn, or Ultraviolet Grasslands. Also, Cyberpunk 2020, but with shrooms (i liked Cyberpunk a lot as a kid in the 90s, though i never played in the actual system itself). The system is very fluffy, slightly swingy, not crunchy at all. The contents are meant to spark interesting narratives, not tweak existing mechanics or give people some new mechanical advantages.
the mechanics: A very simple and straightforward percentage-based d100 system, nicked from e.g. Warhammer roleplays (since WFRP 1st edition was the first RPG I've ever GM'ed in). Exploding dice. Both critical successes and failures. Everything to power through the conflicts/puzzles as fast and smoothly as possible, and serve to propel the narrative.
the setting: The City of Psychopolis, stranded in a weird wasteland of a world, surrounded by ruins of many precursor civilizations gods-know how old. A post-post-post-(ad infinitum)-apocalyptic world. It's a place without any centralized government, where squabbling corporations, cults, and coteries vie for the control over ichor -- the mysterious inky substance possibly of extraterrestial origin, which bestows the power of hypnonauting upon people.
the players: Each players is one of the titular hypnonauts: people trained in surfing the hypnoverse, an internet of connected consciousnesses of sentient creatures, visualized very much the way people saw the internet in the 90s -- as a literal gridded ocean of data that geeks and nerds trawl and where hackers reign supreme: accessing hidden data, breaching firewalls, connecting with people via encrypted code, hijacking data packages, and even incepting themselves into other peoples' thoughts or taking over their bodies.
what the players do in the different parts of the setting:
what do players strive for?: there's a couple mechanics for the development of PCs, presented by three metacurrencies. They may gain Insight to develop their hypnonauting abilities and skills, plus to research and unlock new Truths (similar to the thought cabinet in Disco Elysium), Notoriety to advance in their odd jobs (a very loose system of 100 career paths that make the PCs somewhat more unique and focused), plus forge and strengthen bonds with factions and NPCs, and finally: Morphology to develop new mutations and supra-natural quirks.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
THE CRUX OF THE ISSUE! Can you see what i'm seeing here? There is a huge dissonance between the 1.0 mini-campaign i described in the second paragraph of the preface, and the entire vision of the game i laid before you. It's simply becoming too big -- and the bloat is seriously troubling me.
At the moment, i feel like we're becoming less Hypnonauts, and more "random adventures, partisan warfare, and criminal hijinks in a big science-fantasy world". Why would players even want to hypnonaut? I invested a lot of energy in developing the hypnoverse and the cool hacking stuff you can do there -- but there's so many factions, jobs, and just, uh, general stuff packed into the game.
It's not that i'm in a hurry to finish the game ASAP. I'm okay with finishing the project in the 2030s or the 2040s -- it's a passion project, i'm not in it for the money. But there's an incredible vastness of indie RPGs out there, and i feel that in order to have your thing seen by someone (and i'd very much like that), you have to have a streamlined vision you'd be able to present quickly and efficiently. Nice and smooth sales pitch, unique and interesting features, some cool keywords, details to catch the readers' attention.
With Hypnonauts, i'm simply unable to do that. You see how long it took me to present some basics of the game, and i really, really tried to rein in the rambling. This vision, perhaps it has too much features. And i'm feeling like we need to trim the fat.
I want the game to come back to that vision from the mini-campaign. I want it to be about confusing loneliness, distant distress signals, secret codes, white noise, frenzied comm-broadcasts, hacking into hypno-systems thousands of years old. But at the moment the game seems to have not enough focus on that. The players can move into the Tangle, and have fun guerrila adventures there. They can move into the Deep Sump, and build a colony of shoggoth-people, and never travel topside. They can leave the city altogether to become hermits, or truckers hauling cargo through the Carmine Wastes infested with the horrific cognitohazard anomalies, or propagandists, or hypnodancers, or technopaths . . .
. . . They're no longer hypnonauts. So, why call the game Hypnonauts?
Another minor thing is that i feel like that big vision, unique as i see it, is still too reminiscent of the trippy science-fantasy out there (like Vaarn, UVG, and plenty other indie titles). I'm not afraid of being somewhat derivative, but how do i present the game to new players, if they already have those other, better established titles? Seems quite pointless.
On the other hand, i did grow attached to Psychopolis and its factions, peoples, and weird anomalies, not gonna lie. But at the same time: you gotta be able to kill your darlings, no?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So, there goes the question. What do?
I'm seeing a couple options here. Feel free to vote if you've made it this far. ;)
  1. We keep the game as-is. The bloat keeps expanding. Hypnonauting becomes more optional. I publish the game somewhere around the year 2038. XD
  2. We scratch the entire project, move the setting into the archives, perhaps to be worked on some time down the line when i become a pensioner. We go back to the Duskers-esque purity of the mini-campaign. Only the isolation, the horror, the anomalies, the codes, and whatnot.
  3. We try to salvage as much as possible from the current thing, while emphasizing the hypnonauting more. I was thinking of perhaps implenenting a more strict career system that would reinforce the notion of players being hypnonauts more (different types of hypnoverse jockeys, e.g. some hackers are focused on cracking codes, others on incepting thoughts into people, or spreading terror in the minds of their targets, or summonning and controlling cognitohazard entities, etc, etc), and keep the odd jobs we have now as a mini-bonus to flesh out the characters some more (or perhaps scratch it altogether). Put more emphasis on the importance of hypnoverse warfare. Perhaps isolate the city some more, make it impossible for PCs to physically leave its boundaries? Amp up the anomalies and make the city much more inhospitable, what with some time-space cataclysms, mass cognitohazard infestations, wailing sirens, having to hide in bunkers and being unable to interact with the outside world for long streches of time?
Ain't gonna lie, i'm leaning into #3. As i said in the beginning, this is a bit of rant, to vent the frustration and find a new direction -- and stick to it. I desperately need to refocus the game, at least i really feel so.
Delicious friends, here ends the wall of text -- and if you are able to perhaps offer the tiniest bits of constructive criticism, i'll be forever in your debt!

2022.08.28 07:59 StupidManSuit21 In position to buy a mk4 supra for nothing

I will update this as I find out more info, but a mk4 supra with a salvage title was just posted in my area. Not sure which trim level it is yet or why it's a salvage title or rely any other info, only one pic I've seen and the body looks pretty straight. From what I can tell it's some dude trying to sell his grandma's old car. Is there any reason I should jump all over this for $500 or less?

2022.03.30 17:23 justathoughtfromme HOA tries to take OOP's land through theft and lies.

This is a repost. I am not OP. Originally reposted in Sept 2020.
Original Post - Nov 8, 2017 - Sold land around my house to a developer years ago; HOA formed and being forced to join it and liens on my property
So long story short, today has been an absolute shit show, I can't even comprehend where to start.
So my parents owned about 30 acres of land in the middle of nowhere Nebraska on the outskirts of town. My parents built their house in the late 80's and that's where I've lived my whole life. My parents passed away and I inheirted the property and it's all my land or was my land. Back in 2005, this developer bought up a bunch of neighboring land and wanted to my buy land, I told him I was willing to sell 10 acres furthest from the house (the adjoining section to his neighborhood). He asked for 20 acres and I told him that the 2nd 10 acres would be 3x the price and he agreed and we signed the paperwork and he bought the land and I was paid for it. End of story, or so I thought.
The land sat empty for over a decade since it took a while for him to sell the plots of land he made to home buyers and his company built houses. From about 2005 to 2012, the land sat empty and I didn't mind, I still mowed the grass and what not to keep it tidy, but never tried to take the land over or anything.
By fall of last year he had finished the entire area and there's about 200 homes in that neighborhood. Because of the neighborhood my 10 acres is now worth about 10-20x what it was originally worth and the HOA knows that.
Since the September of 2017, I've had a bunch of angry letters and citations left on my property and in my mailbox. Some of them include:
Having a barn larger than 7x7 feet (I have a 20 x 40 barn)
Having abandoned vehicles on my property (It's a project car shell, that I'm working on. I have the actual chassis in the barn but it needs quite a bit of work. I bought an old rusted body and it sits outside and will continue to do so until I can deal with it)
Having a non-coforming mailbox (Still no idea WTF this is)
Having the improper roof tiles (Again, no idea)
I ignored them and told the HOA members that I'm not part of their neighborhood and therefore have no reason to follow their bullshit rules. The HOA says since my property values have gone up, I owe backdues from the date I sold my land (BEFORE there was even a single house built) and have to correct everything on the list.
The back dues are current $10,200 but they state that if I don't pay by December 31st, 2017, I will be charged interest that has accrued? Again no idea where they are getting the interest from, but I do believe their HOA fees are around $750/year.
It'll cost me about $15,000-$20,000 to "fix" my house. I think it's absolute bullshit that they can even make me try to do so.
1) I went through all the documents I signed and not a single document from the developer makes any mention of a HOA or my association with it.
2) I have no idea why the HOA is coming after me. I live almost half a mile away from the nearest house that belongs to the neighborhood. The entire neighborhood has it's own little custom street signs and lamps. I don't have any of that, so how can they say I'm part of the HOA?
They said to either pay up or they will put a lien on my property and take it over. From what I understand, if I pay the $10,000; doesn't that mean I'm admitting to guilt and be forced into the HOA?
UPDATE: So just had a hour long discussion with the lawyer and he went through all the documents. He asked if I was sure that was every document and I told him it was and it was, when I sold all the documents I put them all in the same folder along with my taxes.
He says that there is no chance I'm in the HOA since I didn't sign anything. He let me know that he'd be glad to send them a cease and desist letter to the HOA.
I brought up adverse possession, and he suggested I don't pursue it since I want them to leave me alone rather than instigate anything bigger.
So for now, he said to not pay anyone or sign anything. He'll mail out the C&D letter today and he says if the HOA tries contacting me, I should just tell them to contact him instead. So I think I'm in the clear for now!
First Update - Nov 12, 2017
So I met with a real estate attorney that was refereed to me by a Redditor on here and did the title search and I'm in the process of trying to find the old developers' master plans. So far here's what's been dug up.
I sold my land to Developer A. He owned the land for about 2 years and then filed bankruptcy and lost the land to the bank. That's when the maintenance of the land went to shit and I was mowing it and taking care of it, cause the bank didn't care. Bank sold it to Developer B and that is the person that built the current neighborhood. We got in touch with Developer B and he said he was no longer part of the neighborhood and in fact, the HOA is in charge of the entire area. His company just owned the lots and they sold/built on them for the families and they have 0 say anymore. I asked him about the master plans and if he thought he owned my remaining 10 acres, and he said absolutely not. The entire neighborhood sits on old land + the 20 acres that were purchased from in. So he was helpful and it was clear he had no wrongdoing.
I spoke to the lawyer to see if we could file and adverse possession on the land I maintained but he said it would be a waste of time and money, but I was just going to do it to spite the HOA. The title search and everything came up clean. It showed my parents as the previous owners and then me. So no way could they have owned my land. The records go way back, and there is a clear chain of ownership as my lawyer put it and it's incontestable.
We sent a HOA a cease and desist letter as well to stop contacting me unless they have actual signed documents that show I was part of a HOA. They never got back to me. I was out of town on came back last night to my mailbox missing. It was cut clear off the post with a chainsaw (wooden post with a metal mailbox on top). I told my lawyer this and he says that it is a big deal and that USPS would send the person to jail? I repurchased an identical mailbox and set up cameras all over the property. If they try it again, I'll have them on tape.
But the biggest thing we uncovered was that we found out what they are planning. Turns out that the HOA wants to put in ANOTHER community playground and a pool/clubhouse and they need land! They can't expand in any other direction since they're almost on the end of a highway on 1 side and the other sides are zoned for agriculture, they decided they'd try to take over my land. They have yet to also file a lien on my property so I'm guessing they were trying to force me into the HOA to make them sell my land below market value?
Either way, they showed their hand and now I'm on alert. We filed a complaint with the police regarding the stolen mailbox and we have a paper trail for that now. It's just a waiting game to see what they do next I guess. Should I send them a letter saying I know their plan and there is no way they can get my land? They have their monthly meeting every 2nd tuesday of the month, so it's in a few days and I'm sure I'll be the topic of discussion. Should I go to it?
Second Update - Nov 30, 2017 - HOA towed away my car and built a chainlink fence on my land
So I was away for the holidays and I came back on Monday to find my project car was towed out of my driveway, my pond was emptied out and filled with gravel and sand and a fenced off 2 acres (2 chains by one furlong) of my property closest to HOA. I immediately called the police and filed a report regarding the stolen property. The car wasn't registered and was just an empty shell so I have no idea where it is nor will it be easy to track. It's not worth a lot (maybe $2,500?) but it's the principle of that jackass president of the HOA.
I had my lawyer draft up the C&D and sent it nearly 2 weeks ago and they haven't contacted me in any way except this. I hired a local salvage company to come tear up the fence this weekend and they are doing it free of charge since I'm letting them keep the fence to sell as scrap metal or whatever they do with it.
My lawyer suggested I send up a letter demanding payment to fix my pond as it was filled in with gravel and sand. A local landscape company quoted me nearly $8,000 to get the pond back to the way it was so that is what he suggested I ask and another $2,000 for loss of use of the pond. The HOA has lawyered up so I think it's best I no longer post anything else on here until it's settled. I didn't want to leave you all without some closure since you all have been an amazing help. I've put a picture of the layout since a few people asked. It's bad but should convey the land.
https://imgur.com/a/cGCnD
Final Update - July 5, 2018
So after 6 long months, everything been resolved. This is my final post regarding this, already asked my lawyer if I could post this and he said go ahead.
So the HOA board got a lawyer to respond to my C&D and they requested a meeting ASAP with my lawyer present as well. I didn't want to go but my lawyer suggested me hear them out at atleast. At the meeting, I noticed there president and some of the higher ups were not there.
The board had no idea what the hell was happening and their lawyer was just as confused as them. After I laid out my timeline of events they thanked me for my time accepted all the financial burden of replenishing my pond, missing car (couldn't locate it), and damages.
I got checks for everything and got my pond restored back in April and didn't really think much of it.
I found out a few weeks ago from the new HOA president. Turns out the old president, tresaurer and someone else had been stealing money from the coffers. They wanted my land to expand and put in a pool, clubhouse and etc just as I saw on their website. The old board fined everyone a ton of money to get all the cash together and buy my land. Instead they spent it on themselves. They needed my land somehow so they thought they could just take over the land I wasn't using.
Long story short, their entire plan fell apart after I fought back and brought to the other members of the HOA attention what they were doing. From what I've been told, they had to sell their house to pay back the HOA and have since moved away. The HOA has offered me market value for my land and I do plan on selling since I really don't use the land for anything and the money isn't bad.
I did not file any complaints with the Postal inspector or anything, since the situation resolved itself. I got a new project car and for those asking it was a '98 Supra with a bad engine. My new project is a '67 Fastback that I plan on restoring to look like Elanor. :)
I want to thank a ton of redditors for chiming in with advice including a few from Nebraska. [Removed names of pinged users]
Reminder, I am not OP. This is a repost.

2022.01.26 06:19 GreyouTT Looking for suggestions for my Shark Xyz deck

A water deck was something I wanted to make for a long time. It's done okay so far (I even held off an Accesscode Talker with it for a couple turns, and defeated a Chaos Max with it) but it lost most of the duels I've used it in. Which is why I call it the "Jaws of Defeat". The biggest trouble I have is when a deck uses cards that do "all face up monsters cannot use their effects" or something like that. Obviously a couple MST would do the job but I don't know what I should take out. Beyond that I'm looking for ways to tweak it to give it an extra kick. Here's what I got:

Main Deck:

Level 2 Monsters (x3)
Level 3 Monsters (x2)
  • Left-Hand Shark (x2) - Works great in combos. The effect it gives Xyz monsters does wonders. As for why it's the only level 3, see Hammer Shark, Lantern Shark, Buzzsaw Shark, and Saber Shark.
Level 4 Monsters (x17)
  • Hammer Shark (x2) - Main way to get the Level 3 Xyz out, easy to search for with Lantern Shark, and Buzzsaw Shark.
  • Xyz Remora (x2) - Turns one Xyz into two, and sends me to the moon.
  • Double Fin Shark (x2) - For later in the duel mainly.
  • Right-Hand Shark (x2) - GY effect and used in conjunction with Left-Hand. Like Left-Hand it also has a great effect for any Xyz it gets attached to.
  • Saber Shark (x3) - Raising and lowering helps with the sharks that aren't Lantern and Buzzsaw.
  • Lantern Shark (x3) - King (special summon another shark from the hand)
  • Buzzsaw Shark (x3) - Other King (special summon another shark from the deck)
Spells (x10)
  • Salvage (x2) - Really helpful spells to regain discarded mats (which are usually Lantern Shark).
  • Aqua Jet (x2) - This thing is a permanent 1000 ATK increase. Yeah.
  • Ledger of Legerdemain (x2) - It's nice to have to not get spell/trap stuck in draws.
  • Torpedo Takedown (x2) - Good when I've Xyz'd a lot, and becomes a Pot of Greed in the grave.
  • Reload (x2) - I typically use it the moment I get it if I have more than two cards in a hand (not including it). It's nice to have the shuffle.
Traps (x9)
Deck Total: 41

Extra Deck:

XYZ LVL 3 (x5)
  • Submersible Carrier Aero Shark (x1) - Right/Left-Hand Sharks banish themselves, and can be used with Ledger of Legerdemain. Also when a Blue-Eyes deck uses that fusion that banishes cards.
  • Shark Caesar (x2) - Rank 3 Bruiser. Say I use Saber to lower Right-Hand to Level 3; I can detach the other two mats and leave Right-Hand on it and I have a card that's 3800 in the damage step and can't be destroyed by battle. Or I leave Left-Hand in and he can't be destroyed by card effects. Either way is good for it.
  • Number 71: Rebarian Shark (x2) - USS Indianapolis (Gives me another shark Xyz, and with a mat to boot!)
XYZ LVL 4 (x4)
Xyz Rank 5 (x4)
  • Shark Fortress (x2) - Aggro
  • Number 73: Abyss Splash (x1) - Good to get over a wall if I don't have Caesar out or an Aqua Jet. Also has a Chaos Max mounted on its wall.
  • Valiant Shark Lancer (x1) - Doesn't require its own material to use its destroy effect, and his second effect doesn't even need a mat.
XYZ LVL 6 (x1)
Extra Deck Total: 14
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

2021.09.28 19:41 anarthull Need help as I'm about to acquire an mk3 supra the next week

I've found a guy selling his project Supra in the neighbouring country.
He claims almost everything is stock on it, the targa roof is from a different car as his had detached during a highway drive when it wasn't bolted properly.
He claims it had around 80k kilometers on it, he drove for another 8000-ish km and then took out the automatic transmission and 7mgte and got himself a 2jz and an r154.
The reason he is selling is because the mechanic that was supposed to install the engine had died of covid, and he decided he wanted to start a different project so he's selling this car as he doesn't know anybody else to do the installation for him (he has a car shop himself and is a welder, not really sure what the word for someone who works on fixing car bodies is (English isn't my first language)).
He's asking 15k euros for both the car and the uninstalled 2jz, or 7k for just the engine. He's willing to sell them separately. I want both.
My question - how do I approach buying a car that is not drive-able? How do I know the engine is healthy? How do I know there aren't random salvageable pieces of the car taken out?
Bear in mind - this is my first car I'm buying. I love the mk3, it's my favorite retro design there is and I'm prepared to take a 15k loan from the bank to buy it. I'd rather buy an mk3 than a brand new modern car, this is something that I genuinely want.
The only issue is - I'm not very knowledgeable in car assessments, and I'm not knowledgeable at ALL when it comes to taking the cars apart. I informed myself on some basic things such as where to look for rust, what parts of the car exterior to inspect, how to assess tyres condition.
I'm willing to learn as I go with this car, I wouldn't mind having it sit in a garage for a year until it's spotless and ready for the road, I'd do everything I can myself, I can manage with YouTube and forums.
What I'm worried about is paying more than what the car's worth, as I'm already paying my college tuition and taking care of my mom. I'll also have to pay import taxes and transportation to my country, so with this bank loan my whole salary is almost non-existent for the next 3 years. But if it works out, to me it'll be worth it.
Any help or advices are greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time. <3
