2024.06.09 19:46 Cool-Beans-Man How deep am I in the friendzone? Perhaps a chance?

WARNING: I am typing this in my phone so I don't know how long the post will be and I'm trying to condensed as much as I can.
My crush is someone whom I was friends with for several months before I caught feelings and got rejected (I wanted the feelings to be known so the friendship wouldn't seem disingenuine). She told me she had a lot going on her life and that she wasn't looking/thinking about relationships at the time (y'all don't need to tell me what that potentially means) For the next year, we've gotten very close. So close that she recently told me I was the second most important person in her life at this moment (behind her best friend from middle school).
Some background details about my crush. She is a very anxious person (has gotten better over time based on details about her past). Social, general, and other anxieties that I'm ignorant about. Truthfully, I never had experience with anyone like her so I don't know what to do and am learning as I go. She has had two very bad relationships in the past, and has her guard up with most people (especially men). She's also the type who prefers to stay home and do work. Like, fills her entire schedule with - an unhealthy amount of - work. The amount is so bad people had voice their concern; The purpose is to distract herself.
Despite the walls she puts up, she has told me multiple times that she feels most comfortable with me. She's more bubbly, confides to me about a lot of things (cried a few times), willing to do things like going to a mall (despite her anxieties and being vocal against similar activities). We both acknowledge that her behavior is different when we're alone together (like her adorablely geeky laugh/cackle, high energy, louder). We have a routine where we do some form of cardio once a week. There are times where we've held hands for up to 2 hours while talking about our feelings. I've escalated how far I can go with touch (arms, face, hair, feet, abs, rubbing her thighs and calves or playing with them like bongos). I'm starting to feel uncomfortable with the (perceived) lack of physical boundaries. I'm a (very) shy guy myself but I try to put up a brave face.
I know that she's perfectly capable of rejecting people. She has ghosted aggressive guys and has rejected a mutual friend. She knows when someone is acting inappropriate with her, like a coworker who repeatedly placed his hand on her lower back. However, with me, she still hangs out and confides to me despite creepy ways I've touched her. People have noticed and mentioned that something must be up with us because our relationship seems to be more than friendship. Besides not saying it out loud (since the rejection) I make it painfully obvious the feelings are still there.
The only thing I know for sure is that there's definitely an emotional connection. Otherwise, I am confused because I don't know how to deal with a shy/anxious girl. The few people who know my situation told me that I'm going about it the right way.
So, as the title says, how deep am I in the friendzone? Should I ask her out for a second time?

2024.06.09 19:45 ThatKaiGuy36 My friend is being terrible to my friends and I and I don't know what to do.

So I'm a few days away from graduating middle school. I'm a 14 y/o agender person and my friends and I are excited to be done. However, I have one friend Sera(not her real name) who is being a bit of a jerk. On our last day of NJHS, she told me "Kai no one wants to be around you because you embarrass us." when I went to sit with her and the rest of my friends. I do have ADHD and my current hyperfixations are Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, so I wear merch of the 2 shows and tend to rant about them a lot. This hurt my feelings a lot so my other friend, Fizz(not her real name) yelled at Sera and told her to stop. Then last week at lunch she threw a piece of cheese at my friend Charlie (not her real name) and threw Goldfish crumbs onto her lap. Then during homeroom, she kept threatening to do it again because "She felt like being a bitch." Then just Friday, I brought my brand new embroidery kit to school for an event we had and she kept bugging me about taking it home for a few days. I didn't want to give it to her because I just bought it and the last time I let her borrow something of mine it came back broken and it was never replaced. She keeps being such a jerk to me and my friends and I don't even know how to stand up to her. She's done many other things to us like compete ignore a huge project, make everything about herself, and many other things but those are the main ones I know off the top of my head. So if anyone has any tips for me, that'd be helpful because I seriously don't know what to do.

2024.06.09 19:42 Annonimousie822 WIBTAH if I try expose my ex friend over another post?

I am 16+ F, currently about to become 17 soon due to the fast months that it's been. I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes but I need advice over this because I'm still young.
Currently, there's have been problems with me and my ex friend who have been posting a lot of things about Mr in both discord and in reddit, they're telling people how I am an abuser, and a digger for power over people I see around me, and I don't even do that, especially when I'm barely online and doing anything at home but sleep and eat food, I have had complications with this friend IRL, and what the rumours they are spreading about me are taking a huge toll on me, specially with my current situation in my own home, I don't wanna deal with this even when I'm at school or outside to see and talk to my current friends.
Due to this as well, I have faced complications with my whole career in a community id wanna stay on, because that's where I try to belong to, I don't know where else I could make new friends, or even have the courage to talk in other servers to make new friends cause I'm a shy type of person.

2024.06.09 19:42 Aginagala WWF Breakdown 1998 Review

Welcome back to my running series of WWF PPV Reviews from a ‘blind’ perspective (I have no idea what’s going to happen; the results, the feuds or how good any of the matches will be). I have always heard stories of the attitude era and golden age but never watched it myself so I set myself to watching every single PPV event chronologically. I am also watching Wrestling Bios ‘reliving the war’ series to keep me updated inbetween the events with the feuds, and to get excited about upcoming matches.
Before I review the matches, based on the past few episodes of raw and last PPVs I’ll let you know, going into the event, which match I’m most excited for and which feud I’m most excited to see.
Now this may surprise you but I’m most excited for the opener with edge vs owen hart. Although not over with the fans yet edge is a hall of famer and I really enjoy his in ring ability, and I think mixing him in with Owen hart is just a match made for success. Excited to see what they can do.
Feud Wise the triple threat is sure to deliver, Austin will have to pull out an absolute miracle to be able to get the win over Kane & Undertaker since they can’t pin each other. Everything to do with the main eventers is fantastic, although the steel cage match looks to be very good as well.
WWF Breakdown 1998 Match Ratings
Edge vs Owen Hart 2.5/5
Too Much vs Al Snow & Scorpio 1.75/5
Marc Mero vs Droz 0.75/5
Vader vs Bradshaw 2/5
D’Lo Brown vs Gangrel 1.5/5
Ken Shamrock vs Mankind vs The Rock Steel Cage Match 3.75/5
Dustin Runnels vs Val Venis 1.25/5
Jarett & Southern Justice vs X-Pac & New Age Outlaws 2.25/5
Stone cold Steve Austin vs Undertaker vs Kane 3.5/5
As I said in the intro an absolute dream match to start the ppv with edge vs Owen Hart. I genuinely think they’ll pull off something impressive here.
The crowd was pretty quiet for most of the match, but there were a few pops for the clean moves they pulled off and they got more into it by the end. This was just a classic wrestling match, although I have to say they were a bit off the ball, with their general in ring action being a little slow and unenthusiastic. I’m guessing edge wasn’t feeling as confident at this point of his career. AND WE SEE CHRISTIAN AT ONE POINT!! He appeared at the side of the ring and caused the distraction for Owen hart to get the sneak pinfall victory.
It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be but it was still a good wrestling performance, it’s just a shame the crowd really wasn’t behind them. You can’t blame them though there was no build up to the match.
Now I know a lot of people won’t like the whole silly Al snow gimmick going on at this point but to be honest I find some enjoyment in it. It’s funny and lighthearted and silly and I think it’s good to mix it up like this and not take everything super seriously. Too much is a good group to work with to make the silly gimmick funny as well.
First off I gotta say… what the hell is going on with Scorpios hair. Bro got one of the worst trims I’ve ever seen 😂 seriously needs to have a stern talk with his barber.
The crowd was much more into this match than the opener though, they actually enjoyed this more than Owen hart and edge which is crazy to me. But then again the wrestling, surprisingly was better in this one. It was fast paced, it wasn’t dragged out too long, it had some funny moments in it, just a decent mid card match. There wasn’t anything REALLY good in it so I won’t rate it highly or a must watch or anything but I found some enjoyment in it.
Marc Mero comes down to the ring and the crowd chants “sable”, of course. Droz makes his entrance and there’s is quite literally no reaction from the crowd, I haven’t seen him before so I’m guessing this is his debut.
This match however was very very boring I really didn’t enjoy it. There was one spot from Droz that was entertaining when he performed a good aerial move but other than that I don’t have much to say, just not a great match.
The crowd was REALLY quiet for the Vader vs Bradshaw match and honestly I felt bad for Vader as the crowd were being super harsh to him: calling him fat and giving him no appreciation, a sad thing to see how far he fell off. The match was SUPER stiff though, a lot of shots they did looked extremely painful and brutal, but in the way that it looked like there were hits out of frustration…
I thought they actually had a decent match though, it was just very stiff and the crowd was not into it at all; the crowd chanted boring and had no enthusiasm for anything happening in the match at all. This is a tough crowd tonight. I do like that Bradshaw changed his hairstyle though, strange seeing him with black hair though.
This random dude called Jason does impression of various superstars and to be fair he actually does a really good job, the Rock sounded bang on.
I say this again, D’Lo has actually been impressing me a lot recently, he’s really developed his in ring ability and looks way better. I think he’s really benefitting from being his own person in the WWF as well.
Gangrel I think is actually a good idea for a character in the wwf, I mean hey if you can make the undertaker work you can make Gangrel work, and the dude looks odd enough to pull it off. But it will only really work if his in ring ability matches his character; he’s a vampire so he has to embody that in his move set and how he does things, just like undertaker does with his deadman persona.
D’Lo hits a fantastic looking piledriver early on in the match as he took control, this looked really good and there was a loud audible gasp from the crowd when he hit it. But when they had the crowd behind them they decide to completely slow it down with rest holds in the middle of the ring and the stadium fills up with boos. To be fair it wasn’t that long that they held it it was just the crowd being very tough once again. D’Lo picks up the win in a match that had some decent spots but wasn’t really that great, it started well but finished poorly, the mark henry interference was random too and didn’t do anything for the match. Just an eh, you can skip this one.
Next we have the steel cage match and this should be really good. The rock has been on fire recently, foley has also been on top of his game and shamrock is someone I’ve grown to appreciate a lot in the wwf.
We get a promo from shamrock which was super average and then we get a promo from the rock, and my god talk about showing the prominent difference being good on the mic can make. The rock has now began his rise to superstardom not only from his amazing work in the ring but his mastery of the microphone. Mankind also cuts a good promo I swear my guy never stutters with his weird ass promos 😂😂. This is the difference between a star and a superstar though, just watch shamrocks promo and then the rocks… it’s quite amazing to see.
Shamrock makes his entrance and I think I’m hearing more boos than cheers, is he a heel right now? I don’t think so… the rock makes his way out and for one of the first times we hear the “Rocky” chants without the sucks after it! He gets a huge ovation here and it’s great to see. Finally there’s more than one mega star in the wwf right now again.
The match started a little slow with the three having a bit of a difficult time finding ways to fill the time in the ring as it is admittedly very limited what they can do: no outside ring work, three people with only the ring and the cage to work with. People were really behind the rock in this match though, like REALLY behind him, as soon as the rock started getting in any offence the crowd lost it, especially that double peoples elbow. There were thunderous chants of “rocky” as he started climbing the cage after that.
The match really picked up in the second half and eventually we get to see mankind doing ANOTHER big dive off a large steel structure. He’s done this before in a steel cage match but this time it missed and he lands straight in the mat, ouch that’s gotta take the wind out of you. I wasn’t sure how the match would play out but I was pleasantly surprised, Rock just can’t miss with his matches right now! Everything he’s involved in just seems to steal the show recently. Mankind hit shamrock with an absolutely thunderous steel chair shot after stopping shamrock from escaping through the cell door, foley climbs the cage and is about to escape but the rock pinned shamrock before he could hit the floor and the rock is the no 1 contender for the title! To be fair I would’ve actually enjoyed an even longer match than they had. Once they got going they really got going, but the rock was a highlight for this match he did fantastically. A great match for the mid card especially. It would’ve been even better with triple H instead of shamrock and to be fair I was disappointed to see he wasn’t on the match card, but in the future we definitely don’t have a lack of the rock vs triple H.
Man Dustin Rhodes just hasn’t had a good gimmick recently, this buildup for a match is quite literally that his wife cheated on him and because he’s a preacher he will make him repent. I suppose it’s an improvement over the artist previously known as Goldust. I personally hate home wreckers but I also hate preachy religious zealots trying to throw it in your face and convince kids they will go to hell if they ever do anything wrong so I’m not actually cheering for anyone in this match. I’m more routing for Dustin though, Val is just such an asshole 😂.
Marlena/terri comes out with Val and dances with him, and mah gawd she’s got next to naut on! The dancing is super cringy, COME ON DUSTIN PUT HIM IN HIS PLACE! To be fair to them I am invested in seeing Val getting beaten so they’ve done a decent job somewhere.
Dustin hit a great power bomb at the start of the match but then… that was kinda it and not really too much else happened. A chin lock is applied that goes on for way too long, Dustin fought out and hit two clotheslines, they battle a bit more and Terri uses the amazing power of the poontang to give Val a level up in strength and stamina. But Dustin manages to hit a bulldog for a two count that… the ref just stopped at? No clue what happened there. But then Val manages to get the win -.- the smug bastard. The crowd was more into asking Terri to take her clothes off than the match and you can’t blame them it was pretty dull. Not too much to say here. It would’ve been much better as a short physical brawl, which would’ve made sense for the heat they created between each other.
I’m very much hoping to see double J in the match for most of the time, I have no idea who Jaretts team mates are but they just look boring, not to be rude but they look like they’ll be slow and not entertaining. Double J has grown on me as a heel and that’s simply because of his in ring ability, he’s had a few entertaining mid cards recently.
I absolute love that choke hold exchange between x-pac and double J they seem to do every time they wrestle. It looks really good and really builds on the match hype. As I suspected jaretts team mates were very boring so they decided to have Jarett in for most of the match. Everything not involving those two was good. Billy Gunn has really grown on me as well and he works way better being involved with DX than he did before, it’s not that different of a role but I don’t know, maybe he just enjoys it more. Jarett absolutely nailed x-pac with a guitar at the end of the match on the outside of the ring which sounded insanely loud and looked extremely painful. He then says he’s injured his eye and honestly he does a great job because it was believable so I suppose we’ll see the outcome of that injury coming up.
The match was okay… it wasn’t anything great and I don’t know why they had it as a semi main event, they should’ve had the steel cage match as the penultimate match.
Austin then has all the odds stacked against him having to basically wrestle undertaker and Kane at the same time… and they can only win by pinning him… like what!? I’m very curious to see how this will play out.
Kanes entrance is fing awesome, undertakers entrance is fing the coolest thing ever and I really like his new theme with the rock mixup and I’m guessing this new version of undertaker will take him into his ministry arc.
Austin starts off smart by attacking undertaker from behind with a steel chair as he made his entrance. Ain’t no messing around with this match we get right off to a flying start! Kane gets control in the ring again and sends Austin to the outside where undertaker continues the beatdown, but Austin sends undertaker flying into the steel steps and counters Kanes attempts to bring him into the ring. My god he’s so over right now 😂. Austin hits Kane with a stunner but undertaker drags him out the ring to break up the pin.
The only way Austin can win this match is by getting kane and undertaker to turn against each other, and we see the early signs of this when taker accidentally clocks Kane across the jaw when Austin moves out of the way.
There’s a big pop when Austin attacks brisco for getting too close and watching on with glee as Austin got beat up by the brothers of destruction, so Austin taught him a lesson.
Eventually after a very very long beatdown on Austin he gets some offence in but undertaker hits Austin with a chair, but kane pulls him off, there’s definitely going to be some drama here. Once again the same thing happens but Kane is pulled off Austin this time. But then undertaker starts destroying Kane as they battle it out. And there’s a really cool moment of Austin and Kane working together to destroy undertaker. It’s quick fast paced back and forth action here!
Eventually Kane and undertaker get their alliance back on track and the brothers resume their assault on the rattlesnake. This match has been given much more time than any other match tonight and I am definitely not complaining!
But the issues between Kane and undertaker continue to show themselves as they both want to win the title tonight, and the stipulation could be working in Austin’s favour in the later parts of this match! There’s a double clothesline and a big pop as Austin is now the only one on his feet. Somehow, some way Austin is still fighting, with everything he has against taker and Kane but he can’t keep control over the power of Kane. But Austin counters a time stone by sending Kane into the undertaker who’s in the top ropes, he looks for a stunner but undertaker hits him with a huge boot to the face. Just brilliant booking in this match. He’s hit with a double chokeslam and both undertaker and Kane pin Austin… but who’s the new champion??
Vince makes his way to the ring and he steals the wwf belt and walks back down the ramp. Austin nails brisco with a right hook and Vince literally runs away to his limo which drives away and Austin destroys all the corpos as he goes to follow Vince but he’s already gone. I thought this was a brilliant main event which really showed Austin as the toughest SOB in the business. There wasn’t loads of crazy spots or bumps or anything like that but the story told was great and I thought the back and forth of the drama and action was really fun to watch.
Overall there wasn’t anything too crazy going on with this ppv but I thought the steel cage match and the main event were well worth watching. An okay mid card with the usual stinkers mixed in there, but I’m so happy to see edge finally making his presence known in the wwf. Excited to see where the storylines go from here. I wouldn’t say there’s any MUST SEE matches in this ppv and felt more like a weekly raw episode if I’m honest but it was still good fun, you wouldn’t miss too much if you didn’t watch it though.
Overall rating 2.75/5

2024.06.09 19:42 darrylthedudeWayne My pitch for MCU Spiderman 4, AKA, The Spectular Spiderman: Back in Black and with Love.

So this was a long time coming. So i was originally going to do this pitch awhile ago, all the way back near the start of the year (or at least when I first moved back to Ottawa) no less, at the time, it was going to be titled "The Spectular Spiderman: Team RED" based off the rumors that Ant-Man and Daredevil were going to be in it. But, then Born Again got overhauled, and I believe the stuff related to Ant-Man either wasn't true or it was, but his part got scrapped when Born Again was reworked (as in early set photos, it showed that Pym Particles at one point was going to be involved), and when they said Sony wanted it to be a Multiverse film like NWH, I lost faith and interest in it, and decided to do an Avengers 5 pitch instead (which I am still working on, and is basically going to be my equivalent to the Snyder Cut at this point, due to how big it is).
But, now that it's been confirmed they found a middle ground between Street Level and Multiverse in terms of its story, and also that my Avengers 5 pitch is going to take alittle bit, and my faith in MCU spidey 4 is back, AND that I've done pitches for post-NWH versions of Raimi Spiderman 4 and TASM 3, which I'll leave links to here:
Raimi Spidey 4: https://www.reddit.com/fixingmovies/s/TmHpOtOeWZ
TASM 3: https://www.reddit.com/fixingmovies/s/xMeDoZ9rYB
I think it only makes sense that I come back around, and try doing a pitch for MCU Spiderman 4 again, so without further ado, and no delay. Here is my pitch for MCU Spiderman 4, AKA, "The Spectular Spiderman: Back in Black and with Love".
Before the Marvel intro, we open to the night, that changed, everything. As Peter is seen trying to redeem a gift card he got in the newspaper to get Aunt May a necklace for her birthday, the jewler won't accept it, Peter tries to argue, but he just replies "I miss the part where that's my problem, now Beat It!" Peter leaves, just then, another man enters, with a gun.
You can guess what happens next, the burglar takes the jewlery and money, and on the way out, Peter let's him escape, the burgler says thanks and throws him the necklace he was going to get Aunt May. The mall security gaurd and jewler asks why he didn't do anything, Peter replies "I miss the part where that's my problem".
We get Uncle Ben's death, but I'd have it be closer to the alternate version of Ben's death in the first TASM movie, where Ben (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) only sees the burgler in the shadows, believing it to be Peter, he follows him in an alley way, only for shoots to be heard in the distance. Peter finds Uncle Ben's body, and we get this emotionally powerful showcase of Hollands acting, as he mourns over Uncle Ben.
We then cut to Ben's funeral, where see he is buried....right next to where Aunt May will be buried years later, we then cut to sometime after that, Peter on a Rooftop, listening to a phone message Ben sent him before he died, just then, he hears some commotion and goes to investigate, seeing the same man who shoot Uncle Ben in an alley way, behind the man, the shadow of Wilson Fisk slowly coming closer. The man pleads for Spidermans help, Peter simply says "You want my help, then you shouldn't have killed my Uncle". Peter then swings away, we then see Fisk beat the man to death, telling him that he warned Walter this would happen if he didn't pay up. From behind we see a little girl approach the scene, Fisk tries to comfort her, but she runs away in a panic.
Peter is now in his room, unsure if he did the right thing. We then cut to sometime after that, were we see Peter picking out a laptop from the garbage and returning to May's apartment to find...Aunt May talking to Tony Stark.
After the Marvel intro we then cut to more recent times. Where in a montage we get an idea of where Peter's life is, since the events of NWH. We see thay Peter's life as Spiderman is thriving. As he's earned the public and the law enforcements trust back, to the point where he's no longer a wanted criminal, and Damage Control has taken him off there black list, and we see him being the friendly neighborhood Spiderman, even bringing in some C and D-listers I don't see them using as villains anytime soon. These include Big Wheel, Stilt Man, Vermin, Swarm, Grizzly, Rhino (played by Paul Giamatti, though this is an MCU Variant, not the TASM version), Screwball (who is comedically revealed to be Liz Allen), the Real Moltan Man, Pot Paste Pete, and Hypno Hustler.
Though Jameson still slanders him whenever he can. However, we see that Peter's life as Peter Parker, is not going so well. He's way behind on his rent, to the point where his landlord is threatening to evict him, his apartment is very messy with pizza boxes and Chinese food boxes stacked in the corner, he can't keep a steady job, he's always late to his classes if not outright misses them and is failing collage, and he's become extremely anti-social. He doesn't interact with any or his fellow collage students and any if the neighbors in his apartment. It's only as if he's strictly Spiderman now. The only place where he acts like the Peter we know and love is at FEAST, as he comes by and helps and volunteers whenever he can. We also learn that FEAST is now being run by one Martin Li (played by Steven Oyoung).
However, things change when Fisk is elected Mayor of New York (which can be the cliffhanger of Born Again Part One, by the way), and makes Vigilantes illegal, creating a Anti-vigilante Taskforce, funded by Alchemax. Consisting off Vulture (ignore Morbius), Shocker (with a more comic accurate attire), Prowler (Aaron Davis, as last seen in ATSV), Scorpion, Hydro-Man (the real one, who was alluding too as existing in FFH), and Mysterio (somehow, still alive). Things get even weirder, when a new elusive Vigilante known as the Black Cat (played by Anya Taylor-Joy or Sydney Sweeney) comes into the fray, as well as a new student in Peter's collage names Felicia Hardy.
Basically the film would be Peter going up against Fisk and his Anti-vigilante Taskforce. Along the way, Black Cat tries to push Peter into abandoning his civilian persona and embrace being Spiderman. Ironically, neither of them know the others secret identities, and the two becomes close friends at collage, which leads to Peter to opening himself up to some of the others at the collage. Which leads to him making new friends in the form of Robbie Robertson, Carly Cooper, Flash Thompson, and Gwen Stacy (played by Thomasin Mckenzie). The latter of which, like Felicia, also forms an attraction towards Peter. Simultaneously, Spidey meets Daredevil who he finds out is Matt Murdock, and simultaneously, thanks to his Radar Sense, Matt finds out that Peter is Spiderman, and remembers even who he is.
Throughout the movie, Black Cat is the Devil on Peter's shoulder, and (like I said) is trying to push him away from bring Peter Parker and embrace Spiderman, for solely selfish reasons, while Matt is ironically the angel on Peter's other shoulder, trying to push him to keep his civilian persona and try harder to find that balance. Peter's good nature also ironically rubs off on Felicia, and while she starts the movie with bad intentions, she does grow to become a more heroic and selfless person throughout the movie, and becomes a better person by the end, respecting Peter for who he is and his decisions, and realizing why it's important for him to have a civilian identity.
Also, there is a subplot of Gwen trying to get closer to Peter, but Peter rejects her advances, not only because of his attraction to Felicia, but also because he remember what Peter 3 said about her fate, and wants to avoid that as much as possible. Also, yes, we find out the man who killed Uncle Ben was Felicias father, and yes Felicia finds out Peter basically let him die, which creates friction. Ultimately however, with help from Matt and Felicia, Peter defeats the Sinister Six, including Mysterio, who we find out isn't his Quentin Beck, but a Variant from a universe where Mysterio successfully defeated Peter Parker, who somehow ended up in 616, and the three fight Fisk, which ends in a stalemate, with Fisk agreeing to take end the Anti-Vigilante taskforce, and make a sort of middle ground. Though it's also made clear, the conflict is far from over (with this leading directly into Born Again Part Two, which I think will be the culmination of the Street level subplot now instead, by the way).
The film ends with a montage, of Peter improving his life as Peter Parker. Finally paying his rent, and sees he has new neighbors, this is where we meet officer Jefferson Davis (played by Terry Crews) and Miles Morales, Spiderman meeting with the new Captain of the NYPD, Captain Stacy (played by Aaron Eckhart or Josh Dallas), about helping out more and having better ties with the police, which he agree as assigns Yuri (played by Ming Da Wen) as Peter's partner, and Peter starts to get better acquainted with his new group of friends, yes, even Flash. He also takes Robbies advice and gets an internship at the Daily Bugle, where he reunites with Betty, sending videos of Spiderman to Jameson.
The last shot of the movie however, i have two ideasn first is Spiderman and Black Cat meeting on a Rooftop of Peter's apartment, and the two reconciling, and while they decide to call off there relationship (for now) the two decide to remain friends and allies, even revealing each other's identities to one another. Peter then returns to his apartment, he then hears a knock on the door, he answers to see it's Gwen with flowers. He asks Peter if he wants to go onna date, which Peter accepts and the two walk off hand in hand.
My second idea is the same, accept, Peter and Felicia remain in a relationship, and the two share a kiss, and still revealing there identities to one another, Peter is then left there on the Rooftop, thinking about everything that has happened recently, and smiles as we cut to black.
The film would obviously focus on the aftermath of NWH, and Peter struggling with balancing both his personas, it would also explore the idea of learning to let others in and not pushing them away. Yes Peter, shouldn't just let everyone knows he Spiderman, but that doesn't mean he has to isolate himself or decline help when he clearly needs it. It would also show how Peter's good nature can actually help seemingly selfish people change for the better, Felicia being a prime example of this. Anyways, I didn't have the Symbiote play that big of a role, because I didn't have room for it, but to make up for it, it will be the first, of six post credits scenes. Yep im pulling a Gaurdians 2.

2024.06.09 19:42 N--- Relationship problems because of confusion between traditional and feminist values.

I could really use some perspective on a dilemma I’m facing. Here’s a bit of background about me and my relationship:
My Background:
I grew up in the Middle East to a relatively open-minded Muslim family. From a young age, I was rebellious against the patriarchy. In my early 20s, I decided to distance myself from Islamic and cultural norms, idolizing Western values instead. During this period, I was at the peak of my feminist beliefs, preaching about equality and freedom. I eventually traveled to the West to pursue higher education. After a few years, I naturally toned down my feminist views and reached a point where I didn’t care as much about those issues and instead returned to traditional values.
Relationship Background:
Two years ago, I started dating a man who had been a friend for a long time. Around that time, I began exploring resources that emphasized more traditional values (Jordan Peterson et al.) and found a lot that resonated with me. My boyfriend's traditional views also influenced me significantly. We both agreed to pursue a traditional relationship. He expressed his intention to marry me, and we plan to get engaged this summer and married next summer.
The Dilemma:
Recently, as we discuss our values and expectations, some issues related to these values are surfacing more frequently. Some example include
I’ve shared my concerns with him. Part of me feels that feminist values dictate that he should like me as I am. However, another part of me wants to do things he likes, just as I want him to do things I like.
He, of course, sides with the latter perspective, asking why I wouldn’t want to do things that make me more attractive to him (to clarify, he always makes me feel beautiful and attractive, he does not make me feel lacking at all). While I do want a traditional relationship, I sometimes feel like I’m changing too much, and it almost feels like I’m not being true to myself. He tells me these are minor things and that we will both change and evolve in our relationship (he does change things for me as well).
I don't feel like I understand what my values are, im lost between the two. Part of me feels like, even though its a bit late, i should focus on better understanding/discovering/deciding my identity. I’m confused about what’s right and what isn’t for me. Is changing these aspects of myself for a partner the right thing to do? What things should I be willing to change and what shouldnt I be willing to change?

2024.06.09 19:40 Zenith135 DM makes girlfriend BBEG, ignores all player input

Kind of a long post, sorry. TLDR; dm let's girlfriend be the BBEG and make all decisions about the game. Special cameo from alien Cyborg furry chimera from the future.
I just joined a group a couple weeks ago and have been meaning to make a post about it in RPG Horror stories, but here goes:
DM posts online looking for players. I haven't played or DMed in about a year and am desperate for a game, so I sign up. There's a few questions for me that I answer (standard stuff, how long have you been playing, what kind of character are you thinking about, are you OK with no evil characters, etc.) I answer them, but as someone who has DMed for a decade I have questions of my own.
How long have they been DMing? About a year. This is their second game and it started about 2 months before I joined.
How many players? They're trying to set the foundation for a living world where other people will be able to dm in the setting, so they currently have 20+ players but only about 6 or 7 show up for a given session. They run 3 days a week so if you can't make it, no problem. Everyone just uses their Discord names rather than real names.
Any homebrew or house rule changes to 5e I should know about? Yes, a few of them.
As they start to go into them I realize this is not going to be a great game, but I don't really care that much. Im just here to play, im not super invested. They tell me to start at level 2 with 150 gold. Okay, cool. Use DnD beyond for sheets. Sure. Roll for stats, cool. End up rolling really well, 17, 14, 17, 17, 13, 17. Dm watches me roll and is amazed. Put the 14 in Wis and 13 in int.
If an attack meets a creature's AC exactly, roll to dodge. Whatever, lots of newer DMs do this.
There are apparently glowing scrolls in the world that allow you to INSTANTLY level up, no matter how much xp you have. Red flag.
The campaign is going to Level 100, switching from Xp to milestone after level 20. Huge red flag. Pause. I ask how that's going to work. What features do you get at level 21 of fighter? 22? 47? They say they're going to be pushing for multiclassing at Higher Levels or using not class feature rewards for higher levels, so I'm assuming things like feats and epic boons. Still very weird though.
Everyone can suggest custom Race for their character and the DM will discuss with another person about it to see if they believe it fits the world (this other person helped design the setting). Okay, great! I've been wanting to play a sentient undead character for a while, we'll circle back to it.
Same as above, you can create a custom item for your character to start with. Cool. I ended up asking for a Greataxe with the finesse property and was granted it. Sweet. Barbarian/rogue, here I come.
There is a homebrew banking system in place, and in order to "encourage" players to use it, you cannot carry more than 2,000 gold on your person at once because "it is too heavy". Strength of 8? 2000 gold. Strength of 24 when the barbarian hits level 20? 2000 gold. But that's fine, my character is a vagrant who doesn't use money and scavenges for everything he needs, and carries everything he owns on his person in a torn up duffel bag.
There's some custom items that can be bought so I spend my starting 150 gold (with dm permission) to get one of them, which is a special gemstone. It says "gives advantage on perception, Stealth, medicine, and Insight checks. Allows for 2 points of advantage on listed checks". Fuck yes, barbarian rogue who rolls 3 times and takes the best on Stealth, Perception, and Insight? I'm set.
Now for my custom Race. I want to play a leng ghoul from the Sandy Petersen Cthulhu Mythos book. I know they're a little overpowered, so I even volunteer to lose the ability to gain Skill bonuses and to lose the claw attacks. DM tells me no, I'll need to pick a different race. Okay, that's fine. I knew it was a long shot. I decide to just be a half orc and ask "out of curiosity, was there something specific that was too OP?" "No, we just felt that the race didn't fit the world. Nothing wrong mechanically" fair enough I guess.
First session:
My character is introduced alongside another new player. They are a paladin. We decide we've been traveling together for a while after Paladin helped get my character out of a bad spot a while ago.
Every player gets a bag of holding my first session in. But wait, a bag of holding makes items within weightless. Can't I just put gold inside the bag of holding? No, you can't put money inside these bags of holding. Other ones you can, but not the free ones we're given. Whatever. Vagrant. Don't care.
We exit the tavern we were in after some fun RP. group is very friendly and fun, and they seem to gel really well together. As we are leaving, we notice something strange glowing on a nearby tree. "K <3 M" is written in glowing script. The other players have been playing for a few sessions so I'm thinking this is probably something important with some NPCs they met previously, so Paladin and I don't have any idea what it could mean. Other players talk it over for a while, and the DM just keeps repeating "think deeper about it" and "you're not thinking realistically. Think realistically". Literally says those phrases like 5 or 6 times each. Nearly 20 minutes of players trying to figure it out and the DM giving us nothing and it changes to be full names rather than initials.
One of the players finally puts it together. This is the DM announcing they started dating someone IRL. I get pretty pissed off at this point, saying I think it's pretty irrelevant to do this. The DM says "sometimes a literal irrelevance is needed". I respond "Yeah, I agree. But this is the first session for 2 new players and you decided to spend a third of it so far on a dating announcement. Like. Congrats dude, but I really don't care about your love life. I'm here to play Dnd, not make random guesses about your love life." Other players agree and are also angry, so i feel a little more justified. Again, we all use discord names, so most of us didn't even recognize the DM's name.
After a while DM has to take a break for 10-15 minutes and leaves us for a bit. Here's where things go incredible. Most groups I've been in, if left alone for 15 minutes, will either just go to the bathroom or check social media or whatever. But this group instantly falls into very natural and authentic role play, asking the new players what their characters have done up to this point, offering to help them learn about the new land we've found ourselves in, talking about wanting to teach my character how to make some nice stews out of foraged foods and rabbit or squirrel. Genuinely some of the best role-playing I've ever been part of.
DM comes back while we're talking about rabbit stew. Instantly cuts us off, says there's no rabbits, and jumps into whatever they were saying. I would KILL for a group that role plays that freely as a DM, and this one is actively squashing it.
DM decides we're going to another town. We get there and are asked to help with defending the city while they rebuild after a raid. Cool. Nothing happens though. We spend the day sitting at guard stations waiting for raiders to return and nothing ever shows up to the town. They thank us and send us on our way with some gold (I give mine to paladin).
DM decides we are returning to the first city. We have discovered that there was a lot of corruption there (the other party members in previous sessions). So we're coming up with a plan to take the city back from the organized crime ring that is running the place. We get to the town and apparently one of the other players is a VERY influential person in the world because they were able to call in an airship of dozens of fighters for backup with this operation.
At some point during this, I I asked to make one of the relevant checks for the item I bought and so I roll with advantage. DM asks why I rolled 2d20s. I say "the item I bought gives advantage." The DM responds Yeah, advantage means +1 to the roll". I say no, advantage means you roll twice and take the better result, or it gives +5 if using the optional method. DM responds that "the double advantage means you get +2 to those checks. You don't get to roll more than once". So I tell them okay, but that they should really change the wording to just say it grants +2 because that is not what advantage means in 5e. They say that they know what it means so it doesn't matter.
Another player that is a rogue had a plan to use his extensive connections to trace the crime ring and find exactly how expansive it was so we can be sure to snuff it all out. DM just brushes over it and ignores the idea. Instead, we head directly to a front owned by the ring.
We show up to what is apparently the head of the crime syndicates' place of business and are prepared to fight. The DM "rolls to see how hard the fight will be" and gets a natural 1. The DM then narrates the player that found the place easily defeating the boss and the rest of us cleaning up the henchman. I once again was pretty upset. "So you just roll a single d20 and that means we don't get to do anything?"
"Yeah, they just were so confident that no one would ever stand up to them that they stood no chance. They didn't even have weapons or anything"
"An organized crime syndicate that has been running a city through force for years had 0 plans for if anyone ever tried to stop them, to the point none of them had weapons?"
"Yeah, that's just the way the dice roll sometimes". "You probably shouldn't be letting major plot points and large battles be determined by a single d20 roll that the players have no influence in." "Sorry, it's just the way things go sometimes." "Yeah but it shouldn't. The outcome of a major plot centric fight should be based on how well the party prepares and uses their resources, not by the DM before it even starts."
End of session 1. I message paladin and he agrees this was really bad but that he's gonna give it some time. I say the Same.
I find out between sessions that the DM has not read ANY of the books and learned how to play exclusively from the DnD beyond character sheet and watching live play YouTube videos (critical roll and dimension 20), and in fact they do not know how to read and have been teaching themselves. Yes, the DM never learned how to read as a child.
Session 2 is going to be much less in depth because literally nothing happens that any of the players have a say in.
Dm decides we're all going to the bank so my character can set up a bank account. "DM, my characterlives a nomadic lifestyle scrounging for scraps. Why would I go to a bank?" "To set up a bank account of course!" "Right. And I have 0 gold. So there's no money for me to put in a bank." "Well you might in the future, so you should set one up now!" "My character has already refused payment and charity twice in this game though. I doubt he's ever going to have any amount of money on him. He is a rogue though, so I guess he can find SOMETHING to do in a bank." DM quickly decides that there is zero reason my character would want to be in a bank and has the party leave.
We try to get horses from a stable so we can travel between towns faster (since the DM keeps deciding we're all leaving town multiple times per session) we are seeing if there are any horses that are trained to not flee from combat, like a warhorse. The DM says "No, you'll have to find a war horse out in the wild. Stables aren't going to have them." I'm a little confused as to why combat trained horses would just be out in the wild, so I ask about it. "The war horses are bright red and have manes of fire" "That's not a warhorse, that's the fucking Horse of War from the apocalypse" "Yeah, it's just a fun little reference" "So we can't have Combat trained horses because of Red Dead Redemtion and the Bible?" "Yeah, that's what the War Horse is" "So like, there's no militaries or militias in the country that ride horses then?"
Dm changes the subject. We're leaving town again!
We get to a new town and the place is being ransacked. We are hiding over a hill and watching the raid happen to try to get a good understanding of the situation when the BBEG appears. We know this because the DM says "and then, the BBEG appears. This is the BBEG for the campaign right here. She's very powerful, you do not wanna mess with her."
After the introduction, DM hands the game over to his girlfriend that he announced in the previous session, revealing she is playing the BBEG (she is also a player in the party, mind you) and is the person that helped design the setting, so is sort of co-DMing.
The BBEG starts talking to us. One of the players says "she's in the middle of town and we're outside the town on the other side of the hill, how does she even know we're here?"
"Great question. My love?" "OH, I can just see you guys." "There you go, she can see you"
"I had a 29 for my Stealth check" "I still see you" "Cool."
So the BBEG(big bad evil girlfriend) monologs about how powerful she is and how we are powerless to stop her and the DM asks if we want to stay and try to save the town or run away. I say "look, guys, I think we can take her". I've got 10 years experience DMing and more playing, and the DM obviously is not aware of how the game works. I am fully confident I can outmaneuver this enemy. Other players agreed they wanted to try to defend the townspeople.
"She's the maximum level"
"Yeah, but this is 5e. I'm level 2, I can probably take her. The difference in numbers between level 1 and 20 is like +10 at the max."
Another player interjects here. "You're level 2???? I'm level 8" "What?" Another player "Yeah I think 7 is the lowest level of any party memebers" "Oh, cool. I was told you were level 2 by the DM last week."
DM: no, I'm pretty sure I said to make yourself level 6 or 7. "Check our messages, it's like the first thing you told me. Dm: huh yeah, I did say level 2. Oops. Level yourself up to level 3 then."
We still want to try to save the Townspeople, maybe we can avoid her specifically or someone xan keep her busy long enough to help people.
Girlfriend declares she summons 150,000 troops to the city.
The DM narrates how we all run for our lives because we have no chance of beating her as BBEG calls in an army of thousands of soldiers who wear armor that resembles one of the other party members.
Now is a good time for me to say that I am absolutely not having a good time in this campaign, but that the other players make it more than worth it to deal with the DM.
Remember how my sentient ghoul was deemed "not fitting" for the setting? The other player asks "they look like me? Do they have the autobot or decepticon emblem?"
Record scratch. "Sorry, wait. Are you a transformer? I thought you were a bugbear." "No, I'm a half bear, half bat from the future that can transform into a robot because I'm partly cybernetic." "Okay. So ghoul that is intelligent is too far fetched for this world, but alien Cyborg furry chimera from the future is perfectly fitting. Gotcha."
The DM narrates us running away and going to the next town, where the invasion BBEG called is also happening. They narrate a girl being kidnapped and the party says that she is the love interest of another player who is not at the session, and the group agrees they want to try to free her bc party member would be upset if we let her get taken without even trying to save her. I agree and charge in.
"They're so far away, you wouldn't be able to reach them in time. You'd have to be able to move 45 feet at least."
"I'm a rogue. Move speed 30, cunning action dash 30, action dash 30. That's 90 feet. I can cover the distance there and back."
"Well. There's guards between you and her" "I'll take my chances. I've got a pretty good AC, with your roll to dodge mechanic AND uncanny dodge. I'm willing to risk it to save her"
"There's also 40 guards surrounding her" "They're have 40 guards escorting this 1 random girl? Is she like a princess?" "No, they just really want her kidnapped" "Okay, I guess I'll try to push through them."
The girlfriend interjects. "The BBEG teleports in. She laughs a wicked laugh about how futile your attempts are, and then teleports the girl away".
Oh. Cool. Great. Excellent.
Session ends. Another player messages asking what they missed this session. I respond "nothing that any player had any say in".
2 sessions in. 10 hours of "game play". 0 combats. 0 skill checks that weren't instantly nullified by an NPC immediately anyway (i didnt bother mentioning it, but i have rolled 3 total skill checks, all stealth, and all 3 i was spotted anyway despite getting 23+). 0 decisions made by any player. The DM just tells the party where they are going, asks what they want to do, and then makes an excuse to not let that happen and tells them what they actually do instead.
I would say the DM should write a book, but they can't read.

2024.06.09 19:40 PlatinumRaptor95 POLICE

My father always wanted me to become a police officer. Who could blame him? His dad, who also happened to be my grandfather, was shot by a random man one day when my father was just 12 years old. He saw everything with his own eyes. It must’ve been traumatizing to him.
“My dad was just watering the plants.” He would often say, “Then a masked man in a white van rolled down his window and shot him out of nowhere.”
“His body fell to the ground and I quickly ran outside.” He’d continue, “Blood started coming out of the gunshot wound. I shouted as loud as I can until my mom arrived. My mom broke down in tears. My dad, with his last, dying breaths told me ‘Avenge my death, become a police officer, so no one else would have to endure the pain you’re feeling’.”
My father eventually did not become a police officer due to financial constraints. He ended up dropping out of high school a few years after my grandfather’s death. He started working in McDonald’s just to be able to have enough money to feed my grandmother. My grandmother at the time had dementia and had to resign from her job as an accountant because of it.
My father then met his future wife, who also happened to be my mother, in McDonald’s. No, my mother was not a McDonald’s employee, but they started talking when my mom lined up in front of the cashier my dad was stationed in to order a Big Mac and some fries. My father never told me what happened next. He always just told me that it was love at first sight and they started going out the following day. After a week, my dad left McDonald’s to apply for a job in the same place where my mom was working at the time, the KFC across the street.
My father’s dream to become a police officer was then transferred onto me. Even when I was still barely able to walk or talk, he would often tell me that I should become a police officer. At the time, I didn’t know what he meant. I don’t think newborns are familiar with the concept of a police officer. Despite that, I didn’t ask any questions. I eventually took up a Criminology program in college and graduated a year ago.
Sadly, before I graduated, my father developed dementia, just like my grandmother. He eventually forgot that I was taking up Criminology and for some reason thought I was a Formula One driver. He also forgot that he wanted me to become a police officer but my mom still encouraged me to become one. She kept telling me: “Your dad may not show it, but deep inside his original aspirations for you are still there.”
He passed away from Leukemia a few months ago. It’s such a shame that he’s not here today to hear this speech but I’m pretty sure he’s listening from wherever he is right now. Sorry dad, I am not a Formula One driver, but I just finished police academy and now I’m a legitimate police officer. Thank you.
“Nice speech, Ethan, congrats!” Carlisle, one of my closest friends, told me while I was going down the stage.
“Thanks, man.” I replied to him, “Not gonna lie, I was kinda nervous even if I practiced this speech for a month, but at least it’s done now”
“I would still be nervous if I were you. I heard you’ll be assigned to the Memphis Police Department.”
“Why would I be nervous?”
“Memphis has the highest crime rate in the country. It’s dangerous out there.”
“I’m literally the best young police officer the country has to offer. If I can’t do it then who can?”
“Well, that’s true. Just be safe out there, okay?” He said as he patted me on the back.
“I will don’t worry.”
After two days, I finally arrived in Memphis. I was greeted by the chief of the Memphis Police Department, Ryan McGruder.
“Mr. Ethan Blight?” He asked me.
“Yes, I am.” I replied as I shook his hand, “You must be Chief McGruder?”
“That’s correct. Come with me, let’s head to the station.”
The main headquarters of the Memphis Police Department was around 20 minutes away from the airport. I took this time to look around as it was my first time in Memphis.
“Are you scared?” Chief McGruder asked me.
“Scared of what?” I asked in return.
“I’m sure you know how dangerous Memphis is.”
“That doesn’t scare me too much. I know what I signed up for.”
“That’s good to hear.”
Once I arrived at the headquarters, I was greeted by a man and a woman who both seem to be in their mid-30s.
“This is Corporal Tommy Allen and Lieutenant Nesty Garland.” Chief McGruder said.
“I’m Ethan Blight.” I said as I shook their hands.
“You’ll be under Lieutenant Garland’s supervision for a few months” Chief McGruder followed, “She’s also supervising another fresh grad so I hope you all get along well.”
I followed Lieutenant Garland into her workstation. As soon as we got there, she introduced me to the other fresh grad she was supervising.
“This is Ryan Chambers. You’ll both be under my supervision for some time.” Lieutenant Garland said, “And I prefer to keep it casual here in my unit so there’s no need to say each other’s titles. That means you can just call me Nesty.”
Ryan stood up from his chair and shook my hand.
“I look forward to working with you, Ethan.” He said.
“Me too!”
After a few days of settling in, Ryan and I finally got to work on our first ever case. We were asked to investigate a robbery that occurred at a local appliance store. While on the way to the appliance store, he told me about a contest the police department has every year. It’s a contest which determines who the best police officer for the year is. The winner is chosen based off performance, effectiveness, and number of cases solved.
“Who are the frontrunners?” I asked.
“I heard Nesty has been good this year but I don’t think she’ll win.” Ryan replied, “I think Corporal Allen might win, he really wants that promotion.”
“You’re not supporting our own supervisor?”
“It’s not that I don’t like her, it’s just that Corporal Allen seems better.”
“In my opinion, I think Nesty would win. I’ve seen Corporal Allen a lot but Nesty just has different aura, you know? She’s very passionate and assertive especially in the office place.”
“Corporal Allen has solved more cases this year than her. I think the number is twice as more.”
“It’s not always about the quantity.” I replied, “I think whoever solves the current case with the wanted drug dealer gets the award.”
“I heard that Corporal Allen is already preparing to take on that case. Haven’t heard anything from Nesty’s side yet.”
“We’ll see, I still feel like Nesty should win.”
After a few minutes of driving, we got to the appliance store. Outside the store was the manager who was waiting for us.
“Can you tell us what happened here?” I asked the manager.
“A man just suddenly entered the store and pointed a gun towards one of our employees.” The manager said, “He asked for all the money in the cash register and we had no choice but to comply.”
“How much did he get?”
“Around $8000.”
“Do you have a recording of the incident?” Ryan asked.
“Yes, come with me.”
The manager led us to the back and showed us the recording of the robbery. The suspect wasn’t wearing a mask which is kinda stupid if you ask me but it makes our jobs easier.
“Can you zoom in on his face?” I asked.
The manager then proceeded to pause the recording to zoom in.
“Doesn’t that look like that drug dealer we were talking about earlier?” Ryan asked me.
“You know what, I think you’re right.” I replied, “So do you think these cases are connected?”
“Maybe he needed the money to buy more drugs.” Ryan said, “Wait, I have an idea. What if we solve this case ourselves and maybe, just maybe, they give us the award.”
“I just started this week, no way they give me the award.”
“I guess it’s gonna be me then.” Ryan chuckled.
“I doubt it, and besides, I’m pretty sure Nesty is already on her way to solve the case.”
“What do you mean Nesty? I’m sure it’s Corporal Allen who’s on the way.”
“Fine, how about let’s just find out ourselves. Sir, do you know which way the suspect went?” I asked the manager.
“Aside from the money, he also happened to steal one of our high-end laptops. That laptop was just used in a live demo earlier today and it conveniently has GPS that we’re tracking right now.” The manager said, as he pulled out his phone, “He’s about 5 kilometers east of us right now and it seems that he isn’t moving.”
Ryan and I both rushed into the car and drove to his location as fast as we can. We asked the manager if we could borrow the phone that he was using to track the laptop so we can find the suspect easier. After a few minutes of driving, we arrived at a warehouse where we think the suspect is hiding. Outside the warehouse was a car which we think belongs to the suspect. We busted open the car’s trunk and saw a bag full of cash and a brand-new laptop.
“Yup, I think this is his.” I said, “He must be inside the warehouse then.”
“So, what are we waiting for?” Ryan replied.
We rushed towards the warehouse and tried to find a way in. The front door was locked so we went around to look for any open windows. We found one window which we think we can fit through but as soon as we were climbing up to reach it, we heard gunshots. We climbed up faster to see what was going on and once we got inside, we saw a man whose legs were bleeding from a gunshot wound.
“That looks like the suspect, right?” I asked.
“I think so.” Ryan answered, “But who shot him?”
We looked around then suddenly I saw a figure holding a gun at the suspect.
“There!” I shouted, “It’s a police officer.”
The figure slowly walked towards the wounded suspect. As it walked closer, sunlight coming down from the ceiling revealed who their true identity.
“I don’t believe it.” Ryan said, “Is that Nesty?”
I took a closer look and he was right. It was Nesty. I looked towards Ryan and shouted: “Ha! Nesty is the best police, see?”

2024.06.09 19:40 Middle-Fingers-Up66 "pitbull ban"

Imagine being so uneducated on a breed that you think pitbulls are the same as XL American Bully's 🤦🤣 apparently the sissys in UK have something against American puppy dogs. I think they're still holding a grudge over the whole revolutionary war incident 🤭 but apart from that Ireland is on the verge of banning the bully's as well. Really sad imo. Thankfully I'll have no need or will to vacation either of those countries.

2024.06.09 19:40 someonenothing2 I am unhealthily attached to a teacher that left a year ago, what's wrong with me?

Mrs R was a strict teacher, no one really liked her, I was afraid of her at first, but I was one of the only students who consistently did the work, I never did anything bad & I always listened.
She'd come talk to me every Tuesday when she was on duty. I would never say much to her, she'll never know how much I appreciated her, but I did give her a card on her last day. I don't love her, not like that, but I like her so much, way too much.
It hurts to write this and it hurts to think about her, every time I do I cry, I've found her facebook which she doesn't post on, but I look at the pictures to not forget her face, I do it rarely to make it special and because I cry every time. When she told us she was leaving I cried until dinner, 9PM, after school, 6 hours without stopping. I cried every night two weeks before and after she left. It has been a year, I still cry sometimes.
I miss her so bad, I need her so bad. She was the only person that seemed to care when I needed it the most, I promised myself she would forever be my favourite person, I'd literally dream about her every night, I don't anymore, I want to but thinking about her makes me feel sick.
I dont go to school anymore, I will never see her again. When I did I hoped one day she'd just come back, she never did. I miss her so bad.
Why am I like this? What's wrong with me?

2024.06.09 19:39 TwoBeautiful2155 Upgrading a built that i found out is bottlenecked and making a 2nd build for little bro from leftovers

Ok this post is gonna be long. So I hope you all pc heads are gonna enjoy it. I'm grateful for any help.
I have had this pc for about 3 years or so and while watching YouTube shorts (I know they eat my brain but I like them) found a video of a dude talking about a website to compare GPUs and CPUs for gaming. So i inputted my hardware finding out its like really not good for the GPU (15% bottleneck). I didn't build this PC myself i got it as a gift for getting into my university and never bothered to check over the parts if they are good or not. So my father built it from some used/some new parts (he has little to no idea about computers) so i thought it was a prebuild and never bothered.
Anyway I'm getting off track. I'm not amazing pc head either but i looked up some stuff on YouTube and found some things wrong.
Such as the before mentioned crying bottlenecked GPU and messy RAM values (as I'm pretty sure they are meant to be running at 3000MHz not 1066MHz they are at right now).
So my question is can you all help me in finding how i can make this pc run better for me (I use it for gaming at 1440p and 3D modelling/simulation, mostly CAD). And using the leftover parts for a build that I'm gonna gift to my little brother as his middle school graduation gift where he will be using it probably for some 1080p gaming (i have an old mouse, keyboard and monitor which i previously used I'm gonna give him)
Ok its time to get into the details of this post my budget to get parts for myself and my brothers pc is 400-500£. I'm happy to get used parts but I'm not too sure about what's actually a good deal or not
The specs i currently have are as follows:
all of that in a Masterbox Q500L with 4 Noctua NF-P12 fans
Here is all of that in Speccy
And he it is once again in GPUZ/CPUZ
I will do research on my part of what needs help here of course and put in a pc part picker list of both pcs later as well
Sorry for babbling random stuff and thank you :)

2024.06.09 19:39 KrystalWulf I miss the old Animal Jam :(

I have such fond memories of AJ from 2009-2012. The old beach section without the water slide and sea museum thing, dance parties in the juice hut. The middle ground place between the canyon and the beach, it seems one gone or changed last time I played. One of my favorite games was there, the one with the twister and bird. I miss being able to wear everything without buying a membership, and how "members are trying this speciesnout first" wasn't a lie and regular players got the animal afterwards. I miss there being no limit to how kabt characters you had, and you could just buy more slots instead of needing a membership for more than 2. The sorting game in the forest is gone...
I tried playing a year or two ago on mobile, and it's so different. It's like it's mostly pay to win. The phantom game in the savanna is gone I think? I miss it. I loved it. I think some of the games are gone from the arcade, like spider zapper. Most everything, clothing and furniture, is now for members only! We can't change the colors anymore!!!
I want to play it again, but it feels so vastly different than when I was a kid. I'm afraid if anyone finds out I'm an adult they'll get freaked out and scared of me. And I don't relate to some of them, but the game is so lonely by myself. My old accounts are gone I think. My very first one I used as a storage for all my extra rare stuff, and knowing it may have gotten deactivated and all of the rare stuff lost? It makes me sad and not sure I even want to try.
I just miss the one from my childhood and it makes me so sad and nostalgic, and playing doesn't help because it's changed so much. :(

2024.06.09 19:37 Valuable_Cut_618 AITA For telling my mom the truth about my drug history?

I, 23 F, and my mom, 49 F, where sitting at the table earlier this week, and she asked me a question about my usage of Mary Jane in the past out of the blue. When I was a kid I had been sent to the hospital for mental health reasons 5 times, the last time being when I was 16, due to some misuse of Mary Jane. I had been sober for about a week when I got home from the hospital before I started using Mary Jane again, however this time I was much more responsible, and had limited Mary Jane usage about once every two months until literally now. 2024. At the time, my mom had expressed to me she didn’t want me to ever smoke again, because she was scared about my dads usage with drugs in the past and how it affected me the first time. I have taken long breaks and have had no issues with my semi-regular usage since coming home from the hospital last. I know it was definitely a shitty thing to do especially because it was against my moms wishes, but I was always safe and it became a tool to help me with my eating disorder, anxiety, and bpd. Now that I am 23, we have not had any in depth conversations about my drug usage and now it’s completely legal where I live and I have been prescribed it by my doctor. When my mom asked if I had used any drugs recently I told her yes, I’ve been prescribed Mary Jane by my doctor a year ago and it’s helped me a lot. She looked scared and told me she doesn’t want me to go back to the hospital and to stop, so I told her it’s been a long time since those days and I’ve been using Mary Jane to help me long before my doctor prescribed it. She stared at me horrified and told me to get out. I’m just visiting her as I’m a travel nurse and only see her a few times a year, so I went to my room. She came in 30 minutes later and told me she needs me to get out of the house. I was shocked and told her that it’s been good for me and I didn’t want her to worry about me and I’m sorry for ever making her feel bad and for lying to her, but she was throwing my things in my suitcase and telling me she needs time to think about it. I really do feel bad for lying to her and risking my safety, but I seriously used it so little I felt like I was back to just being a normal teenager. I kept apologizing and she slapped me across the face. She turned her back and slammed the door, so all I could think to do was to drive off. I think I’m the asshole, but did she really need to slap me across the face? Let me know.

2024.06.09 19:37 BridgeSouthern2342 I genuinely think my brother is a sociopath.

I know what this sounds like. It seems like just another sibling rivalry, but my brother (B) is a terrible person. It started when he was five or six. B would catch frogs in the creek behind our house and dump them in a bucket of scorching hot water. Of course the frogs died from this. He had a couple of other small things that he did, but I do not think that that is relevant, as they could be passed off as just "boys being boys." B has only gotten worse over the years. Most of our arguments end in him physically hurting me. And I don't mean simple shoving. At best, it is heat-of-the-moment anger where he just punches me, at worst, he actively tries multiple things to inflict harm. Since he is younger than me, and I have a high pain tolerance, I am able to take most of his physical violence. This pisses him off, so at times he will grab the nearest hard object and start hitting me with that. These objects range from a tv remote thrown full force at my face, to a metal water bottle slammed against my shin. He gets violent over the slightest thing, like not being able to use the tv, or him being able to see my feet. I have to just take it or risk getting punished by my parents. If I so much as block him, he'll go crying to my parents that I hurt him too. Most of the time he gets away scot-free because "It takes two to argue." I am genuinely scared for when he inevitably becomes bigger and stronger than me. Another thing that leads to believe that there is something more is the fact that B is a pathological liar. He lies to get what he wants, to make himself look better, and sometimes just for fun. At one point he stole money from me, only to hand it back, telling me that he found it on my floor. I know he took it because my money was in a locked jewelry box, and he has this pattern of behavior where he will set a up a negative situation, do the "right thing", and brag to everyone about how good of a person he is. The worst offense on this list is how B treats his "friends". he basically has a group of followers who will do whatever he says, and worship the ground he walks on. He will get mad at them for not doing what he wants to do, or getting distracted by something that is not him. He exclusively befriends people who he knows will view him as better than them, such as kids with no other friends. He treats them as if they are lucky to be friends with him. He even brags to family about how nice he is to befriend the disabled kid that "nobody else wanted to be friends with." he treats these people like a means to an end, a way to fuel his ego. I hurts me that these are all really nice people. I baby sit for some of them, and they completely change when B is not around. They become more caring and considerate, and have their own personalities. These are just the main things; I haven't even scratched the surface on all of the racism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism (I am autistic). I feel horrible for not connecting with B and not making more of an effort to help him, but with the amount he makes me feel like shit, I don't think I owe him anything anymore.

Everything we REALLY know about The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum

Abstract

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is a film which is due to cover the events of Gollum's life, probably between the trilogies and through to the early parts of The Fellowship of the Ring. It is to be directed (and starred) by Andy Serkis, with Sir Peter Jackson producing and Philippa Byoens, Dame Frances Walsh, Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou writing the screenplay.
Set for release in late 2026 (although a delay to mid 2027 is a distinct possibility), it will be the eighth film in the New Line-produced film series, after this year's The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, and is thus unrelated neither to Amazon's show nor to the notorious video game on the same subject. The film focuses on a puzzling but nonetheless intriguing premise, and may entail appearances from some actors from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

Update section (as of June 2024)

TBD

The Story

Exactly what the story of The Hunt for Gollum is supposed to cover is not entirely clear: it could cover Aragorn's literal hunt for Gollum across the borders of Mordor, culminating in the capture of the creature on the Dead Marshes, interrogation by Gandalf, and incarceration in the Woodland Realm and subsequent escape during an Orc attack, ending with his becoming stuck inside the Mines of Moria. This would make the film less of a traditional prequel, being that these events take place during the time of Jackson's The Fellowship of the Ring, largely between the 32 and 36 minute mark (the film is explicitly meant to be continuous with the previous live-action films).
However, the title is merely a tentative working title and needn't be taken as too concrete an indication as to the exact contents of the film. Recent comments by Boyens, Jackson and Serkis seem to imply a larger scope, possibly as far back as Gollum's first emergence from the Misty Mountains in an attempt to track Bilbo, turning the film into a "bridge" between the trilogies, of a kind that we see more often nowdays in other media series. After arriving at Dale, a hunt after the creature is in fact already initiated by the Wood Elves, but he reaches the Anduin and eventually winds-up in Mordor. These events are ednumbered in The Lord of the Rings under the chapters "A Shadow of the Past", "The Council of Elrond", "The Dead Marshes", "Shelob's Lair" and Appendix B, rounding up some ten pages.
The unruined city of Dale, one of the biggest sets built for either trilogy, could feature in The Hunt for Gollum
Admittedly its hardly the most intriguing concept for a film based on Tolkien's works, but such an expanded premise could doubtlessly utilize Jackson's penchant for non-linear storytelling, perhaps using Aragorn's capture of Gollum and his interrogation by Gandalf as a framing device for the telling of Gollum's earlier adventures, which otherwise take place with no companion with which to run dialogue scenes. This premise also promises far more from a visual standpoint: rather than merely reprising the Dead Marshes or Cirith Ungol, one could see the Woodsmen of Mirkwood, as well as the Woodland Realm, Esgaroth and Dale in better days.
In Tolkien's unabridged chronology, these wanderings extend over multiple decades, allowing for the story of Aragorn's youthful adventures - in Gondor, Rohan and Harad - to ensue in the middle of it all, although unless the film is indeed a two-entry project, it seems unlikely for Jackson to cover both characters' detailed backstories. At the very least, it could reasonably be expected of Jackson to obscure or contract (as he had done in The Fellowship of the Ring and the Dol Guldur storyline of The Hobbit) the timeframe somewhat.
Another potential sideplot could include the downfall of Balin's colony in Moria, precisely because Gollum ends-up stuck behind the closed Western Door of those mines, with the Balin, Ori and Oin long vanquished. Jackson and Boyens previously considred using such a prequel to show Saruman looking for the Ring and falling under Sauron's spell, and while Saruman is almost sure to appear in the animated The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim, the death of actor Sir Christopher Lee might make his return to the live-action Hunt for Gollum probelmatic.
Frankly, cutting out the the latter storyline might help keep The Hunt for Gollum from "spelling out" too much of the goings-on between the trilogy. This exact kind of interstitial spinoffs set between the two Star Wars trilogies (Solo, Obi Wan, Andor and Rogue One) have done this to a rather demystifying effect, and so keeping some events untold might actually enhance the feeling that sixty eventful years have indeed passed between the trilogies, rather than distiling the events of those sixty years to a film that's bound to feel like it transpires over a more finite amount of time.
While both film series have been criticised for focusing on a concentrated, "limited" timeframe within the context of a vast fictional history, I think Jackson's desire to present a series of films that are tightly-woven together with the same characters, settings and overall conflict running through all of them. Indeed, by the time Jackson completes his second contracted film for New Line, he and Boyens will have had produced an unprecedented nine films of some 26 hours of cinema or more, cementing their already-entrenched vision of Middle-earth. Jackson had spoken before, not unjustly, of gaining a great degree of "sentimental attachment, a kind of ownership to the Middle-earth that's been put on the screen."
It may also help in reducing the risk of the film at "spoiling" the events of The Lord of the Rings trilogy for newcomers, something Jackson had expressed some awareness to with The Hobbit. Gollum's latter-day wanderins take him to the Dead Marshes, Cirith Ungol (where he encounters Shelob), Barad Dur and Moria and these could reduce the impact those places have on the screen in The Lord of the Rings for newcomers after 2026. Exactly how Aragorn could maintain his mystique in the Prancing Pony (admittedly a "card" that the films don't play nearly as long as the book) or the menace of the unseen figure of Gollum, I have no idea.
For the same reason, I would argue against the fan-favourite idea of a framing device, by which an elderly Aragorn relates his sojourn with Gollum. Such a device will not only feel overplayed alongside the framing devices of An Unexpected Journey and The War of the Rohirrim but also "spoil" the outcome of The Lord of the Rings in terms of Aragorn's fate for newcomers.
The "bridge" function of the film can help make the viewing experience of the series a more balanced experience: I've written about how the six films form a coherent narrative structure, but having said that, the midpoint ("One Ring to Rule Them All") comes in a touch early: a 2 to 2.5 hour film could redress that.
The narrative structure of the six films at the present: inserting The Hunt for Gollum before the midpoint could bring it closer to the actual middle of the piece

The Cast

Beside Andy Serkis also reprising his motion-capture role of Gollum (which he also performed recently for his Tolkien audiobooks), its unclear what characters and actors the film will involve: as producers, Jackson, Walsh and Boyens are sure to influence the casting process, as they had for The Hobbit back when it was still a Guillermo del Toro-helmed film, and as Boyens seemed to have done with The War of the Rohirrim, whose cast includes Brian Cox and Serkis' wife, Lorraine Ashbourne. A couple of regulars, like Jed Brophy (who also appeared in The Rings of Power Season One) are almost certain to appear. A cameo for Jackson may also be reasonably expected, and perhaps for Royd Tolkien, as well.
Gandalf is said to appear in the film, with the venerable but active Sir Ian McKellen expressing interest in reappearing in the role. In 2006, Jackson had said he has no interest in making a film with "a Gandalf who wasn't Ian McKellen for instance." Presumably, they could accomodate McKellen by shooting his scenes in the UK, as they had done previously with Sir Ian Holm and an even more-venerable Sir Christopher Lee.
Viggo Mortensen, who was previously considered for a return in his role of Aragorn to The Hobbit and declined an early availability check, had also expressed some willingness to return to the role. Although he predicated such a return on being "right for it in terms of, you know, the age I am now", which would seem to negate the possibility of digitally de-aging the actor, it must surely be left to Jackson's fabled skills of persuasion: admittedly, Jackson and Mortensen had spoken as late as October 2022, but that was seemingly before any plans for The Hunt for Gollum ripened. Ironically, the return of both McKellen and Mortensen was joked about before, in Stephen Colbert's Darrylgorn spoof.
Certainly, Jackson and Serkis - special effects mavericks that they are - will be unlikely to shirk from using digital deaging, a popular technique used by other major film series, especially since the film is due to involve copious amounts of motion-capture anyway. Focusing the story on Gollums' earlier misadventures, in which Aragorn and Gandalf do not feature, could keep the issue at bay to some extent.
The Tolkien series by 2026: The Hunt for Gollum poster is, of course, fan-made
Jackson had also spoken a couple of times before of trying to get Liv Tyler's Arwen to appear in the last Hobbit entry alongside Mortensen. Orlando Bloom, who had reprised his role as Legolas for The Hobbit, conspiciously liked Serkis' social media notices on helming the film: With Legolas' teaming-up with Argorn set-up in the close of The Battle of the Five Armies, and him playing a role in the battle in which Gollum escapes the Woodland Realm, his reappearance is also not unlikely.
Other characters from the Woodland Realm like Lee Pace's Thranduil could also feature. Jackson and Boyens had previously expressed desire to further explore the fate of their original character, Tauriel, but the recent announcement of retirement by actress Evangeline Lilly may or may not confound this: Lilly was also effectivelly retired when Jackson first cast her in that role. If Dale is reappear, so could Bard and perhaps some of the Dwarves.

The Crew

The film is to be directed by Andy Serkis, who had directed a recent adaptation of The Jungle Book, after having started directing with the second unit on The Return of the King and The Hobbit. He is slated to appear this week in a panel for The War of the Rohirrim.
Serkis was picked by Jackson, who wrote and directed all six previous films and will produce this film along with partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. Judging by previous producer outings by Jackson et al (District 9, Tintin, Mortal Engines and The Hobbit prior to del Toro's exit) they are sure to allow Serkis the needed latitude in terms of designing, shooting and editing the film, although as mentioned its likely they'll involve themselves with casting some of the roles.
As before, Walsh and Boyens will also be writing the screenplay along with the scribes of the Boyens-produced The War of the Rohirrim, Arty Papageorgiou and Philippa's daughter Phoebe Gittins. Jackson is not credited as a co-writer, but being that he lives with Walsh, and opposite the lawn from Boyens, its certain he will have an important part in shaping the story.
Since Jackson lives with Walsh (in the house to the right) and across from Boyens (house immediately left of theirs), he's sure to be intimately involved with the shaping of the story
Serkis is also credited as executive producer along with Jonathan Cavendish, who together run the UK studio Imaginarium. Also attached as executive producer is Jackson's agent and The Hobbit executive Ken Kamins. They're unlikely to run into trouble with New Line Cinema, which is currently being run by Pam Abdy, Michael de Luca (who worked on The Lord of the Rings) and Alan Horn, who worked on The Hobbit. Amazon/MGM and the Tolkien Estate are not involved, ensuring no issues in terms of the rights.
Although New Line had approached Jackson, the idea for the film was his own. In fact, Jackson was disappointed that the story of the hunt for Gollum could not be included in The Fellowship of the Ring, and already in 1998 had expressed a desire to film it - at that stage, as additional footage to be spliced into the trilogy. By 2002, these plans turned into a "Lord of the Rings prequel" which was in active development until 2007, and that Jackson and Boyens continued to talk about as late as the director's commentary to The Battle of the Five Armies in 2015.
This film is entirely unrelated to the 2009 fan-film of the same title, now back on YouTube; nor to Daedalic's video-game nadir, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, or to Amazon Prime's controversial show The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in spite of possible cross-over in the crew. Philippa even admitted to avoiding the show as to not become influenced by it. If anything, news of The Hunt for Gollum, pre-empting the release of the teaser for the show's second season, seem to have dampered the hype for the show, especially given the show's move from New Zealand to the UK and New Line Cinema's forthright resolve to "stop Amazon from blurring the lines" between their show and the films.
Jackson is contracted for a second film: although a recent Deadline piece makes it seem like The Hunt for Gollum will itself be two films, this is unlikely and is not the impression given in previous press releases and interview. If the second film is indeed unrelated to The Hunt for Gollum, its likely Jackson hadn't given it too much thought, but a likely candidate could be The War in the North: Like the Hunt for Gollum, it is a subject Jackson had given some thought to and spoke of his interest in dramatising. Other future films may earn a more peripheral involvement from Jackson or Boyens, but are almost certain to still shoot in their homeland of New Zealand and utilize their facilities and firms.
Concept art for The War in the North, circa 2014.
New Line had ambitiously announced the film for 2026, surely towards the end of the year in what's become a series tradition, although in the latest Variety piece its merely "being eyed for a 2026", and so a slight delay (like those of The Battle of the Five Armies and The War of the Rohirrim) may be in store. Still, if it is indeed a single-film production, a late 2026 release is perfectly concievable, especially as this story is of smaller cope than either The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit.
The Hunt for Gollum is returning not just to New Zealand but Jackson's and Boyens' hometown of Wellington, and will be produced using his companies and facilities: Stone Street Studios (filming studio), WingNut Films (production company), Six-Foot-Seven (art direction company), Weta Workshop (hand-props and creatures), WetaFX (special effects) and Park-Road Post (editing and sound). The Rings of Power, The War of the Rohirrim, the Darrylgorn spoof and the "Beyond the Door" project in the Hobbiton set had all provided more Tolkien-themed work for many of these firms in the interim.
Otherwise, its unknown who the staff of the film might include. Jackson is almost sure to call upon the services of concept artist John Howe (currently engaged with The Rings of Power but almost sure to make time for Jackson) and Alan Lee, who had recently provided work for The War of the Rohirrim. He also has access to a large number of existing and unused pieces of art by Lee, Howe and Weta that can be of use here, a practice already utilized for The War of the Rohirrim.
Jackson had maintained a partnership with the co-editor of The Two Towers, Jabez Olssen, who edited all of Jackson's subsequent films including his recent documentaries. Serkis has a relationship with director of photography Robert Richardson, suggesting a possible candidate for the lensing of the film.
Although Howard Shore could concievably return to score the picture, which is set to feature characters he depicted in music previously like Gollum, Gandalf and probably Strider, the film could also be scored by one of the Kiwi composers who contributed to his scores: Stephen Gallagher (currently composing the score to The War of the Rohirrim) or the Plan 9 ensemble together with David Long. Even in such a case, Shore could concievably contribute themes, and his existing themes could be used at the discretion of the filmmakers.
Thanks to Jackson's involvement, one can also hope for extensive behind-the-scenes, including pre-emptive video production diaries, as had been the custom on all his live-action productions.

2024.06.09 19:36 pistashiono My dog passed away about a month ago, did we get a puppy too soon?

I apologize if this doesn’t come across clearly- it’s a bit hard for me to think and write currently.
At the beginning of May, my (23F) family dog, Sam, passed away. We had him for 14 years. For the last two years of his life he needed meds several times a day and all our lives revolved around him. I have fairly severe mental health issues that cause me to have panic attacks in which I hurt myself, it can be dangerous for me to be home alone in this kind of state, and Sam was the one who could calm me down every time. He wasn’t afraid of my screaming, and he would put his weight on my lap until I calmed down. I was never alone when I had him. Losing him has been the most painful experience of my life.
After lots of family discussion, my mom decided she might need another dog sooner rather than later because she knows if she gets too used to not having one she might not get another one, and dogs are really good for her. Since we have allergies in the family we want to stick to the same hypoallergenic breed that worked for us. There was one puppy that called to us in particular, and although she looked really similar to Sam we all gave our ok to go see her. We worked out a deal with the breeder that we could take her back after a few days if things aren’t working. We brought her home this Thursday after seeing her on the Wednesday. Really coincidental timing as Sam’s ashes took longer than they expected, so we brought him home on Friday. Going from crying over his ashes to taking care of the new puppy has felt really weird and painful. This puppy has completely reopened the wound and we are all feeling very heavy.
That being said, I have already developed an attachment to this dog. Her similarities to Sam are really bittersweet, at times it’s very comforting and at times it just makes me miss him. But her personality is really what stands out. This dog called to me before I even met her, and she’s just been such a good girl since we brought her home. She slept 11-5:30 the first night, and 1:30-6:30 the second night. She’s already gone pee outside several times. She’s already listening to me. Most notably, when I was home alone with her, she was whining, I started getting overstimulated and missing Sam and had a panic attack. She immediately stopped whining and nuzzled as far into my lap as she could. She slept and stayed by my side the entire hour I was panicking. I’m not sure if she coincidentally wanted to cuddle and nap or if she instinctively helped me through my panic attack. I need a dog who doesn’t drive me crazy and isn’t scared of screaming, and I don’t actually think it’s that common to find both of those things in a puppy.
Now for the dilemma I’m facing- my mom feels that maybe she did this too soon. We are still grieving Sam and she feels like getting a new puppy should be a happy and exciting time. Here’s my thought- we are both extremely emotional people, and I truly believe that if we get a new dog even in a year, that it will reopen the wound of losing Sam. I’m not entirely convinced it won’t hurt even if we give it more time. However, I definitely feel worse now than I did last week, we’re all in a lot of pain, and I’m not sure if I’m prepared for it.
For anyone who’s lost a dear pet, how long did you wait before getting a new one, and how did it feel? I know it depends on each person, but was it an exciting and happy time, or did it hurt?
So we have a couple of options going forward- we could keep the puppy for a few more days and make our decision at the end of it. Or my mother could see if the breeder is willing to take the puppy back, keep our money, and let us know if someone else is interested in buying her, so we could have a bit more time with an empty house. Maybe someone will buy her after a few days, or maybe she’ll still be available when we feel a bit more prepared. There is also another scenario in which I have total veto power. After my mom came home to the puppy sleeping on my lap while I was panicking, she told me that regardless of whatever decision the family comes to, she wouldn’t take this dog from me if I needed her or if she would make me happy. That she could be my dog. Problem is, I have no clue if this will be a good or bad thing for me. It’s turned from me getting over my mom needing to get a dog, to me deciding whether or not /I/ should get /this/ puppy at /this/ time. This is an extremely difficult decision because after holding Sam’s ashes I feel that I need just a bit more time to sit in this grief before devoting my all energy and attention to a puppy. But I love this puppy, and I don’t know if Sam sent her to me and if it would be a mistake to give her up. So part of what I’m wondering-
How common is it to find a puppy like this? Who listens so well early on, sleeps through the night, isn’t scared of screaming, stays through panic attacks, and really pulls at your heart?
I’m so scared of returning her and regretting it. I’m honestly at the point that if we do give her back permanently I’m nervous that I won’t want to get another even when we’re more prepared. But I am hurting a lot, everything is heavy, and I do feel like I really need some time after my Sam’s ashes came home. I wish so badly that we could just give her back for a couple weeks and take her then, but I don’t know if that’s a possibility.
Especially if you have mental health issues, what would you do in my position? How would you come closer to making a decision here?

2024.06.09 19:36 JeanieGold139 (Spoilers Main) Do you think George should have had more houses support Aegon II rather than Rhaenyra to even up the Dance?

It's stated a few times throughout Fire and Blood that the majority of the realm prefers Aegon II, Rhaenyra's explicit reason for declining a Grand Council is that she feels confident she would lose. Yet it seems she had a massive advantage in the number of houses that declared for her.
Rhaenyra
Basically the entire North
Basically the entirety of the Vale
The Greyjoys and the rest of the Iron Islands
Basically all the Crownlands minus King's Landing and nobles the Greens seized and essentially forced to back them
A clear majority of the Riverlands
Probably a third of the Reach
Aegon II
The entire Westerlands
The Stormlands
Another third of the Reach
Houses Bracken and Strong from the Riverlands
King's Landing and a couple Crownlands houses, and most of them basically by force anyways
It just makes no sense how she thought she'd lose a Grand Council yet the combined Black houses outnumber the Greens at least 2:1.
All of that coupled with her clear advantage in dragons meant George basically had to make the Black commanders dumbasses who bungle dragons and battles left and right to even give the Greens a shot. I also thought it undercut the sexism Rhaenyra faced and which is supposed to exist in Westeros when the clear majority of the Kingdoms backed a daughter against a trueborn son. The Westeros we see in the main series would have balked completely at Robert if he tried to name Myrcella his heir. I get that dragons are the great equilizer but it just seems hard to believe she'd get more support than her brother in the Westeros we've seen.

2024.06.09 19:33 Far-Shine-2953 My hair twirling habit makes me unfocused

Hello, not sure if this is the right group to ask this question but let's try that.
Currently since it's exam season I'm (21F) noticing my bad habit of twirling hair got out of hand since it makes me lose focus during my study sessions. I have short hair ( not like 2mm short but more like medium short let's say? U can comfortably grab a strain of hair on the side of my head by two fingers... And then twist it in between them and make a habit out of it) and somehow it gives me some type of stimulus twisting it in between my fingers but it makes my brain totally lose focus on what I'm doing. I found out that I always start doing it when I'm bored, stressed or when I have to sit in one place for longer time or when I have to think hard about some problem. The issue with this is mainly that I just catch myself in middle of that staring out of windows twisting my hair and then I look back and realize I wasted some minutes of time and I'm barely in half of my study notes. It makes studying so much harder for me but I can't just stop it before it starts I just catch myself in the middle of doing that.
My question is what would U suggest me to help me stop this without shaving my hair off and if some of U have some similar bad habit and how do u cope? Thanks for your suggestions.

2024.06.09 19:32 rumhrummer Arch Linux + dualshock 4 replica.

So i try to make a small "retro gaming station" on top of my multimedia server mini-PC. It works alright, except for a controller. I use a replica of Dualshock 4 from DataFrog. Under Windows it works as basic controller, and works perfectly fine with DS4Windows installed.
On Linux, i'm facing some difficulties.
At first i installed a XFCE Arch-based distro. It failed to pair with a controller. I googled a lot, and found some threads that suggests downgrading Bluez to 5.68. It worked...to some degree.
I switched distros (mainly to test different flavours) to KDE-based release. And sadly it fails to connect even with Bluez 5.68. Like at all - i'm stuck at "Configuring Wireless Controller" when i try to pair, and it fails after some time.
I returned to XFCE-based distro, it works with BlueZ downgraded to 5.68.
I found out that...
  1. Strangely, "default" bluetooth GUIs fails to connect on Budgie, KDE and so on. Meanwhile, blueman manages to pair with all "DS4" functional - touch panel works, LEDs turns dark blue (white\light blue "normally"). The problem is - blueman will only connect to gamepad when it's in pairing mode, and thus it can't reconnect. So if i disable Bluetooth and enable it back- i gotta turn gamepad to pairing mode, AND i have ot "pair" it manually in blueman. It works, but i just can't have it that way, as i won't be the only one to use it, as i would have to keep a mouse next to my TV just to connect gamepad. No couch experience.
  2. When trying to pair it with Bluetoothctl i get a authorization failed in btmon. It paires in Bluetoothctl, but disconnects right after that. The gamepad is either disables LEDs and does a silent "pop" sound (it has some sound functions, mainly to connect a wired headphones and use them over BT), or turns LED to white\light blue, same silent "pop", and it disconnects. It can be paired and\or trusted- no difference. When i pair it with blueman - it pairs alright and sends a whole bunch of information.
I've used the same controller in EmuELEC, and it had a kinda simillar problem (it needed to be paired every time, but worked fine after that). But i do remember finding a solution on EmuELEC's github that worked, and it managed to run 2 of this gamepads with full feature set (1 with blue LED coloring, 1 with red blue coloring, both connecting in discovery mode, not pairing mode). iirc- that was the fix i applied for EmuELEC: raw.githubusercontent.com/EmuELEC/EmuELEC/v4.6/packages/sx05re/emuelec/bin/batocera/emuelec-bluetooth , but i don't really know how to apply it to basic Linux.
If any logs needed- i' m willing to provide it, really want this stuff to work.
