I messed up really bad and I’m not sure what to do. I graduated undergrad with a 2.3 SGPA and 2.9 CGPA.
I was a bio major originally, struggled with my mental health for 2 semesters and accumulated Cs, Ws, and Fs as a result. I took a break to focus on my health and changed major to a BA in human development. I got straight As with a 4.0 gpa each semester until graduation afterwards.
I’ve been working a full-time job in a hospital as a pharmacy tech to support myself and myself through school and balancing work and school has been tough. I’ve been doing this since freshman year of undergrad.
I started DIY post-bacc retaking the prereqs last year and got 2 Cs in general Chemistry 1 & 2
I had to withdraw from Trig / a medical terminology class because of a traumatic experience. Now I might withdraw from micro because I’ve been struggling again with my mental health.
I’m not sure what to do now since my start is extremely rough. My insurance kicks in soon so I plan to talk to my PCP about health and will be seeking therapy. I plan to get my life together next semester but I’m not sure if my mistakes ended this career opportunity.

34 F, 165 lbs, 5’4”, Caucasian. No drugs, drinking, or smoking.
I used to use tret gel 0.05% from the age of 23-29 with no issues whatsoever. I stopped use when trying to conceive for our first baby.
I got a new prescription from my dermatologist a few months ago and was excited to start again, but I’m wondering if this is what’s effecting my eyes.
I 0.05% tret cream every other night and I do not go above my orbital bone or below my eyebrows.
I have red, painful, gunky eyes for the third time in the last 3 months. Just 3-4 weeks apart between symptoms starting. I go to urgent care and get antibiotic eye drops.
Other factors in my life that I was blaming the pinkeye on was: having a toddler (but he hasn’t had pinkeye!), going to a new gym, and working in a high school (which I’ve been doing for 6 years and never had this problem). I’ve been reading anecdotes from people on Reddit about tret and eye damage and I’m wondering if it could be true?

I need help figuring out wether my build will have any bottle necks or incompatibly issues, specialy with the motherboard, as I'm the less sure about it. *I will be buying a windows key on keysfan to save money in case that effects anything, this will also my time building a PC.

I'm 24 yrs old and I've been using 0.05% tret for almost 5 years and I've been very consistent with it. I use it every night with no issues and have seen amazing results.
It was time to renew my prescription and my derm suggested going up to 0.1% dosage since I've been on the 0.05% for so long and is worth to give it a try.
I'm not sure if I want to up the dosage. Is it worth it? Are there pros/cons to upping the dosage?

You are Jalen Brunson. (Cool feeling, right?) You catch the ball on the right wing and weave together some between-the-legs dribbles while you contemplate how you should score. Pound dribble to a step-back? The double-crossover-to-hesi combo to get to the paint for a classic floater?
Not this time. You call up good ole’ Isaiah Hartenstein — love that guy — for a pick, but it’s a ruse. As he approaches, you flash the quickest in-and-out in the land and reject the screen, blowing by your hapless defender like the Road Runner lapping the Coyote. Layup drills aren’t this easy.
As Knicks fall around him like so many orange, autumnal leaves, Brunson just keeps carving a path to points. He’s had five 40-burgers in 11 playoff games. There aren’t many guards in the league with as diverse a shotmaking profile. I wanted to dig deeper and figure out how he got all these buckets, particularly the ones inside the arc, where the artistry happens.
A shot chart can show you where the shots happened (sort of), but they can’t show you what kind of attempt it was. The NBA assigns a type to every shot, but the descriptions are both inconsistent and wrong too often to be useful for a micro-analysis like this. So, I hit the tape. I rewatched all of Brunson’s 244 two-point attempts from these playoffs and categorized them into several shot types (there is some discretion involved, art and science, but I tried my best to be consistent).
Here’s how he scores inside the arc, from least prolific to most. The Book of Brunson, if you will (or if you will not; that’s what I’m calling it, regardless). It starts a little slow, but I promise it gets exciting toward the end. Kind of like every single Knicks playoff game.

7) THE DUNK

1 make, 0 misses, 0 FTM, 2.00 Points Per Shot (PPS)

Brunson is listed at 73 inches tall. If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge not too far from Madison Square Garden I can sell you. He only had three dunks in 77 regular season games, but he had one threadbare yet magnificent jam in these playoffs. Here it is: [video here]
When I played 2K (back when a single digit followed the “2K” prefix, yikes), that was called the “rim-grazer” package. Barely gets over the cylinder. Still counts!

6) Cuts

2 makes, 1 miss, 1 FTM, 1.67 PPS

Here’s the thing about Brunson. Brunson makes Brunson happen. He doesn’t need passes from teammates; he needs them to set picks, space the floor, and stay out of the way. In the regular season, 23% of his two-pointers were assisted, a low number. In the playoffs, that’s fallen to 15%. And calling some of these “assists” feels generous. You tell me how much the pass here had to do with Brunson scoring: [video here]
I digress. Back to cuts. Synergy has him in the fourth percentile for the share of shots finished off of cuts; it’s not his jam. By my count, Brunson has had precisely three field goal attempts off cuts in 11 playoff games. Two went in. For what it’s worth, Hartenstein had the assist on both (and in fact, Hartenstein’s 10 total playoff assists to Brunson are more than anyone else on the roster). Here’s one: [video here]
Understandably, the Pacers were not expecting it. Neither was I, but then again, I’m not paid eight figures to stop him.

5) Transition

6 makes, 3 misses, 3 FTM, 1.67 PPS

The Knicks, famously, are the slowest team in the league, and they’ve crawled in the playoffs. Might be too tired from the heavy minutes; have to save your energy for offensive rebounds, I get it. Josh Hart carries most of the transition load.
But every once in a while, someone will poke the ball loose and toss it up to Brunson. He’ll catch it, dribble, lay it up. Most of the time, he makes it; sometimes, he misses it. If it doesn’t sound that exciting, well, it’s not.

Brunson can’t really throw it down in a highlight kind of way (except that one time when he did!). Fast-break Brunson layups are about as dull as fast-break layups can be. Let’s move on.

4) Spinning (usually) fadeaways over his (always) left shoulder

13 makes, 8 misses, 2 FTM, 1.33 PPS

Okay, now we’re getting to the good stuff. I will lump most of Brunson’s middies together, as you’ll see shortly, but I am partial to the aesthetics of the spinning fadeaway.
I mean, look at this thing. It’s gorgeous. The footwork, the arc, everything. And always — always! — using that left shoulder as a pole to spin around: [video here]
These are difficult shots, but by my count, he’s shooting 62% on turnarounds! That’s wild. I wonder if he shouldn’t take more of these and fewer step-backs, although these are a bit harder to get off with bigger bodies on him. Brunson knows what he’s doing; I shan’t second-guess him.

3) Layups and blow-bys

29 makes, 23 misses, 19 FTM, 1.48 PPS

Layups are a massive part of Brunson’s shot diet, even if it’s harder for him to get to the rim than some of his less-normal-sized peers in the league. Shot a little better doing these against Philly with a jump-less Embiid than against Indiana, where he has gone just 14-for-29 by my count (although he’s drawn a handful of fouls, so that’s a bit misleading).

It isn’t casual, though. It’s a lot of work. I’m stressed about the impact of all this acceleration and deceleration on his joints, ligaments, and bones, and despite what the tenor of this piece may lead you to believe, I’m not even a Knicks fan.
I’m also stressed you’ll judge me by my chosen highlights, spent more time than I care to admit picking ones that will prove to you that I’m both knowledgeable and a little hipster. Brunson made Nesmith touch parquet twice in the ongoing series (which hurt me; I’m a huge Nesmith guy), but that’s a little too cool to be cool, you know what I mean? Here’s where I landed. Ah, now I’m second-guessing myself. Oh well. You know what Brunson layups look like. It’s all crazy dribble combinations and shot fakes in fits and spurts, starts and stops, that somehow end with him blurring to the hoop for a high-arcing shot off the glass.

2) Floaters

The infamous Brunson floater. A cruel tool, one the Geneva Convention was specifically designed to combat. It’s unstoppable (except when it’s stopped).
Floaters are a weapon of last resort for too many point guards, the shot they puke up when they can’t get past their man. That can be true for Brunson at times, too.
But Brunson has weaponized the floater, often by using it to bait fouls. If he gets the hostage dribble on a defender, putting them on his back, you better believe he’s gonna throw the ball upward and his body backward to get the whistle (I thought they legislated that out of the game, but nobody told the refs judging Brunson). That’s not my favorite play, of course, but it’s hard to deny the effectiveness.
He launches floaters from everywhere and anywhere. Leaning left, leaning right, falling down. Contested, wide-open, in the middle of four bodies. Occasionally, Brunson reminds me of classic fight-movie scenes in which the protagonist is drowning in enemy combatants, buried so you can’t even see him, when he suddenly springs up, spraying bad guys everywhere: [video here]
People say Brunson is good at getting to his spots, as if there is a finite number. I don’t really agree. All spots are Brunson spots; the floater will come from whatever direction he chooses.

1) Step-backs, side-steps, pull-ups, and other hyphenates

Even excluding the turnaround fadeaways and floaters, Brunson has shot more midrange jumpers than any other type of shot. Yeah, that’s sort of cheating; I’m lumping many different kinds of buckets into one bucket. Maybe it’s too broad to be useful. But frankly, some of these are hard to differentiate (and also, this post would be too long; if you’re still here, I appreciate you. Know that this started off being much longer in a way that benefitted no one.). You’d think it would be easy to tell a pull-up from a side-step, but I swear Brunson can combine these in ways that somehow don’t defy the laws of basketball (i.e., traveling). It’s hard, so eventually, I decided to lump them all together.
Midrange jumpers are generally looked down upon. You can see from my points-per-shot calculation how much less efficient they’ve been than everything else, but that’s the nature of the beast. Just because they don’t always go in doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate them.
Sometimes, it’s hard to manufacture even sub-optimal offense (and that’s particularly true in the playoffs). Sometimes, you gotta go out there and cook; as long as the meal’s not burnt, it’ll do. And sometimes, it’ll be g*dd*mn delicious: [video here]
In truth, many of these possessions are ticking grenades, and it’s up to our hero to jump on them. The Knicks try to run their offense, nobody else can do a dang thing off the dribble (not, mind you, that they receive many chances), and suddenly there are six seconds left on the shot clock. The midrange isn’t dead; like wealth, it has simply consolidated into the hands of the few. Only players with sufficient star wattage are allowed to take them. And with a playoff run for the ages, Brunson’s been outshining nearly everyone.

Let me start by saying this first, 7 month ago I went cold turkey, it was the same time where I was at my worst, I lost hope in all my doctors. (I also had doctors in my family which I stopped taking advice from)
Well as you can guess that time was the worst time of my life. I was feeling so low I can’t even describe it. On top of my skin flair ups I experienced stomach ulcers with diagnosed IBD, weight loss, depression, fatigue, migraines, intense stomach pain and nerve ending pains like stinging. And yes I did go crazy during that time.
It was hard for me to explain but even though everyone was saying I should continue using steroids to “get my life back” and continue using immunosuppressants there was a voice inside of me that was telling me not to do it. So I didn’t. And that voice helped me all throughout the coming pain and fights reassuring me that I did the right choice.
I was lucky and got into a medical trial of some form of immunosuppressants but I declined it.
I closed myself of to the world (not to my close friends and family of course) and faced MY reality. Because this was my life now! Every day was a fight with inflammation. But with time I got better and better. My approach was and what gave me strength was telling myself that I am connecting with nature again.
I started to take long walks in the forest, I sunbathed a lot ( and am still doing so) I started to only use natural products, I developed a intolerance to any kind of soap or shampoo and am only using natural soaps/conditioners/ ingredients now.
I started using aloe gel which helped me insanely with my skin and moisture, I also developed intolerance to Vaseline my skin was very itchy when I applied it.
I only take showers once a week or a bath with epson salt.
That being said, 7 months ago I decided to risk it all and I am so happy to say it payed of.
My skin is healthy, I have no inflammation. For the first time in my whole life. I can sleep. I’m not in pain. I don’t have stomache ulcers or stomach pains. ( I have been on high potent probiotics for the 7 months) My migraines are gone. I stopped losing weight. For the first time in my life my lymph nodes are not swollen. There also used to be small pumps on my veins which are also gone now for the first time in my life ( this is just my own observation, doctors always ignored this)
1 month ago I started micro immunotherapy and am taking 2LALERG from Labolife, since it’s supposed to help your immune system regulate itself to its natural state and that aligned with my goal. It’s not a medication and has barely if any side effects.( I have no idea if this has helped me in any way just putting this out there) I have always had high IgE which also resulted in the inflammatory states in my body.
Yeah all in all I’m feeling really good. I though I was doomed for life. That things would never get better. But it’s not true. It can get better!
PS: I have been trying very hard to avoid stress in these months as I noticed how big of a impact it has on me and my body

Posting on here for some advice on whether to start using retinol again… I have a long story with acne and getting perioral dermatitis recently - really need some advice
For context, I have struggled with acne my entire life, from the age of 11 I was on multiple treatments including creams and antibiotics to try and control my spotty and oily t-zone. At the age of 17 I had a terrible break out on my cheeks, it was really severe and I had never had acne like that before. After numerous things I ended going on the contraceptive pill and that completely cleared my skin. I was on the pill for about 5-6 years but it really affected my mental health, depression, anxiety and mood swings were horrible so I finally came off it before the age of 23.
When I came off the pill I became quite nervous that all my acne would come back, I began getting spots here and there, and after seeing the rave about tretinoin online I decided to give it a go. It definitely wasn’t the best decision from me, I got the retinol uglies, I went in with 0.5 which was definitely too strong too quick and I was losing hope after a few months. I think my skin was just TOO exfoliated, I couldn’t figure out a routine and I think I was using too many products.
I then switched to Dermatica and got prescribed Adapalene 0.2% / Clindamycin 1% / Niacinimide 4% This felt better but my skin was continually peeling, it looks glowy now that I look back on pictures but I was still getting spots. Nothing drastic but I was definitely searching for that glass skin look.
After 6 months they switched my prescription and removed the Clindamycin (due to resistance to that ingredient I think you can only take it for 6 months). This was before Christmas time in 2023, the weather became really extreme and my skin suffered. I thought it was just the weather and I would lather in moisturisers and continue to only use Dermatica every 3rd night but my skin would not stop peeling. I contacted Dermatica and told them my side effects and they said that my skin is just getting used to it. I began to get a dry patch near my mouth which slowly got worse, I thought this was because of the weather but I got a lot of redness around my mouth and looking online I felt like I had developed perioral dermatitis.
Long story short I did have perioral dermatitis. I stripped my skincare routine to be VERY minimal and began taking antibiotic, I was prescribed Lymecycline from my doctor for 3 months, I also started using Azelaic Acid after following Dr Sam Bunting advice online.
Now that I have finished my antibiotic, I am still continually getting spots, it almost feels a tad worse now that I’ve finished the antibiotic (Lymecycline is also prescribed for acne as well as POD). My skin feels really clogged and my forehead just has a lot of tiny spots, I keep getting breakouts and I just want to not have to deal with it all the time, it feels NEVER ending that I have acne for the rest of time at the moment.
Here is my current skincare routine: AM - Wash face with water - The Ordinary Caffeine Solution under my eyes - The Inkey List Azelaic Acid 10% - The Inkey List Vitamin C 15% (just started using this to brighten marks) - The Inkey List Niacinimide (for my oiliness) - The Inkey List Omega Water Cream (if my skin is feeling moisturised I don’t use this) - Paula’s Choice Clear SPF 30 Fluid
PM - Remove make up with The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm - Wash face with Dr Sam Bunting Flawless Cleanser - Dr Sam Bunting Flawless Neutralising Gel - this has 2% salycilic acid, 5% azelaic acid, 0.5% bakuchiol, 5% squalene (started using this in the past week now that I have finished my antibiotic and I only put it on my spots, most nights in the week) - Sometimes I may use Paula’s Choice BHA or AHA (probably once a week and not at the same time as the gel above) - Cosrx Snail Mucin (if my skin is feeling dry or I have used an exfoliator) - The Inkey List Omega Water Cream OR Aveeno Oat Restorative Night Cream
Treatments: - I’ve got the Omnilux Red Light Therapy mask and I use it a few times a week (my skin feels very hydrated and plump from this) - I’ve been using a high frequency wand a few times a week on my spots
I’ve been contemplating using The Ordinary Retinal 0.2% maybe once or twice a week in the evenings, but I’m just really nervous and not entirely sure whether it’s worth it. My skin did look good on Dermatica (apart from the peeling) and definitely way less clogged than I feel now, so I feel really tempted especially hearing that retinal is really good.
Considering I’ve been using Azelaic Acid daily for 3 months now I feel like my skin is slightly less sensitive, but I’m VERY worried I will fall into a trap and over exfoliate if my spots still continue, I’m a stress picker and I just want them gone so if one appears I just need to do something to it. I’m also very scared of the retinol uglies, I’ve started a new job recently and I’m definitely worried it will crush my confidence on a daily, as already I get quite down about spots.
Does anyone have any advice if retinal is a good idea?

Neonatal hypoglycemia treatment
I (36F) G2P1 gave birth to my son at 39+1. Pregnancy was complicated by uterine arterial notching, and bilateral hydronephrosis (resolved after birth). No GDM. Baby was AGA 7lbs 5oz. APGARs 8 and 8.
Approximately 6 hours after birth, I noticed my baby was shaky. Our pediatric NP was in the room and I asked her to look at it. At first she said it was nothing, but decided to take a temp. It was 97.0. She had the RN take a glucose level which resulted as <20. He was sent to the transition care nursery.
He was given dextrose gel and formula. BG rechecked 1 hour later and was 20. Given a second dextrose gel and formula. Rechecked in another hour and was 22. Instead of treating, whoever was taking care of him re-did the test and it resulted at 39. No intervention was done. Three hours later it was checked and again resulted at <20. Given dextrose gel and transferred to NICU.
Glucose resolved on DOL 4 (had been receiving 12.5% dextrose infusion) and he was weaned off the dextrose infusion. DOL 4 my baby began having seizures and was found to have cytotoxic edema in his left occipital and parietal lobes.
I’ve collected all of his medical records from the hospital and now what to know if a case should be pursued? The transition nurse who disregarded the third reading of 22 despite protocol saying to contact MD seems like a delay in critical care. Any advice?

I started .025 tret about a month, my skin has tolerated it well and I'm now up to daily .04 micro gel (that's all my pharmacy had available but it's so much more gentle on the skin). I'm also in the process of introducing azelaic acid (finacea) into the mix.
I don't have acne but have generally terrible skin from s life time of neglect - lots of hyperpigmentation, sun damage, lines and uneven skin tone. I spent an insane amount of time in the sun with no SPF, never used a single product including moisturizer until last year, etc. so I'm playing catch up!!
From what I've read I really think tret and Aza will help me, but I'm wondering how long it took you out there with similar issues to notice worthy changes?

I had been using Minox (Achē) for 6 years and Dut 0.5 every second day and had been stable. Adding in Micro-needling (biweekly 1.5mm) a couple of years ago I actually saw some improvement.
I moved countries and eventually ran out of Minox but purchased a new brand online (Sons 5%) four months ago and have been rapidly losing my hair.
I contacted their support and they suggested that it can take at least 2 months to stabilize when using a new brand (but it has been 4 and no improvement). My doctor raised a concern if the brand itself was "spurious" as she said that it "seems as though I hadn't been using any Minox at all."
She then prescribed oral Minox 1.25mg (Loniten) and oral Tretinoin 10mg (Vesanoid) but going to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription the pharmacist thinks that my doctor mis-clicked the drop-down box.
The Tretinoin (is very expensive) and they surmise that she must have meant isotretinoin which are readily available and less than quarter of the price. They also told me that the Tretinoin tablets and the Isotretinoin tablets are basically the same thing.
My wonder is, since most people seem to be using Tretinoin as either part of their Minox preparation (compounded) or using it as a topical cream prior to applying regular topical Minox, what would be the efficacy of using oral Minox with oral Tretinoin?

Hi all.
Over a course of nearly 9 months I damaged my skin barrier as I used Differin, Benzoyl Peroxide and Azelaic Acid. I didn't use them all at once, but used them in the same day but at different hours.
Anyways, I stopped using literally anything on my skin since around February. I wanted to restart using Differin 0.1 gel again.
How long should I wait before restarting it again and how should I start using it this time to not damage my skin?

I'm trying to understand the results of my cats first blood test indicating CKD. I've just seen proteinuria should be checked for before deciding on treatment and I can't tell if that was checked for in the test. Is anyone able to let me know please?
Or any other advice for going forward.

The lab notes on the blood results said the the haemolysis that happened during the collection might have affected the results of several of the key categories so does that mean I should wait for the second blood test to consider her to have CDK? (She's over twelve and 2.5 kg and I'm worried about starting her on prescription renal food too soon if it may effect her negatively rather than benefit).The vet said her blood glucose results can be dismissed as it was due to too little blood being in the vial during the test but one of her main symptoms is peeing on the floor lately so should I still be worried about diabetes being a possibility and have that retested or would the urinalysis still have caught that?
We'll be redoing some of the tests next week and attempting a blood pressure test which they could not do last time because she was too stressed. Should I be asking for further diagnosis such as imaging to try and find any underlying cause that may be treatable?
(Also, could her having been on kitten food which I didn't realise was higher phosphorous and Urinary Care dry food have caused the diluted urine and higher BUN?)
