2024.05.16 05:57 duckfarm3 tesla model y or new model 3 (both long-range)?

I'm looking to buy a new car and update my current car, which is gas-only. I primarily drive to work and back, totaling about 40 km daily, mostly in traffic (taking an hour or more). I need to park in a crowded parkade. Other than commuting, I only drive short distances or within the city and have no plans for road trips.

Currently, after rebates, the Model Y is actually a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Model 3. Initially, I was only considering the Model 3 because I like its look and feel, but the Model Y feels a lot bigger and more comfortable space-wise (also cheaper). I test-drove both, but only for extremely short distances because I was nervous. Moreover, I'm kind of a clumsy driver and have only driven a small Corolla before (I bought it about a year ago, and it's now basically a scratch post because i keep on bumping into shi).

Any suggestions?

2024.05.16 05:49 CommonPhilosophy595 Best NYC nightclubs?

Me and a group of friends are looking to go to a club in the city and were wondering where to go. We do have girls and gay men in our group so just wanna ensure they’d get in. Looking for something with RnB, spanish, pop music anything we can dance to really! We were looking into Tao but now i’m afraid it might be very difficult to get into. Any suggestions pls?? Also if anyone knows of Taos dress code for girls that’d be appreciated! (like would ripped jeans with heels be ok or is that an absolute no?)

2024.05.16 05:45 emeraldstars000 Strange coincidences surrounding the Elisa Lam case ...

  1. Dark Water Dark Water is a 2002 Japanese horror film that was adapted into a 2005 American version starring Jennifer Connelly. In both movies, a mother (named Dahlia; the Black Dahlia was found murdered near the Cecil Hotel) and daughter (named Cecilia, which sounds eerily like the Cecil Hotel) move into a new apartment where discolored water starts coming out of the faucets. The weird water and spooky elevator eventually lead them to discovering a dead body in the apartment's water supply. If you boil down the movie to its most basic elements, you get the story of Elisa Lam.
Lam was found in the Cecil Hotel's water tank about a week after the LAPD posted a video of her acting strangely in the elevator. Before her body was found, guests complained about the low water pressure and strange tasting and discolored water. It was almost like life imitated art — people legitimately wondered if someone or some higher power was deliberately playing out the movie's plot.
  1. Morbid the Death Metal Musician
Morbid, or Pablo Vergara, is a death metal musician who found himself in the middle of the Elisa Lam case after web sleuths looked into his videos. A year before Lam died, he posted a video about staying at the Cecil Hotel. People started digging up songs on his channel about someone drowning and young women being chased and murdered. Web sleuths thought that he was leaving crumbs to flaunt the fact that he murdered Lam. But by his account in the docuseries, Vergara wasn't in the country when Lam died. However, people flagged his social media handles, and his YouTube, email, and Facebook accounts were eventually terminated.
  1. LAM-ELISA test For tuberculosis
After Lam died, a tuberculosis outbreak plagued Los Angeles, especially among the homeless community in Skid Row by the Cecil Hotel. The test for the tuberculosis was literally her name, but backwards: LAM-ELISA, which stood for Lipoarabinomannan (LAM) Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Conspiracy theorists immediately speculated that Lam was effectively a biological weapon of sorts. They discovered that she was a student from the University of British Columbia, which has a reputable tuberculosis research center. This particular theory has disturbing eugenic undertones that posits Lam was sent to control the homeless population. According to this theory, Lam died because she either knew too much or planned to expose whoever sent her. But according to her autopsy report, Lam did not exhibit any signs of tuberculosis.
  1. The Last Bookstore
The last place where anyone saw Lam was, eerily enough, Los Angeles' The Last Bookstore. But this name wasn't the only strange coincidence. If you look up The Last Bookstore's domain, you'll find a postal code in its registration information: V5G 4S2. Online sleuths put the postal code into Google Maps and found the pinpoint at Lam's burial spot, Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Canada.

2024.05.16 05:32 Brenkin My girlfriend (30F) and I (29M) are happily in love with each other. But she wants to raise a family in the country, I have always been a city boy. Should we break up?

I met my girlfriend during the summer of 2020 on a dating app. Our first date was a park date, we chatted for over 4 hours, it felt like 5 minutes. Couple dates later, and we were in love. The relationship up until this point has been nothing but wonderful - she is an incredible person, and a caring partner. She is originally from a small town (more on that later), while I grew up in the suburbs, but always loved the culture of city life.
After a few years of being together, she moved in with me last October. Again, this process has been great. I love coming home to see her, and I love living with her. Everything has been great. However, around that time we had a chat about the future and the possibility of children, and she said she'd only really consider it if she were to live in a small, rural town, as that is where she wants to live when she's ready to settle down, so to speak. This lead to a difficult conversation, but we got too emotional and we were too stupid and too in love, so we parked the discussion.
Well, last week I got news that I'd have to move and find a new place. This acted as a bit of a catalyst for these conversations to happen again, and this time we didn't park it. We spoke about the prospects of our future yesterday, and she was firm that she wants to live in a small, rural town, and she doesn't want to compromise. I don't see that for myself, so I'm not willing to really compromise on this either. This is the woman I fully envisioned marrying and spending the rest of my life with. She likes the peace and quiet of the countryside, I prefer the culture of the city (and exposing my potential children to the opportunity and diversity that the city provides)
To say this was the hardest day of my life would be an understatement. We're 99% sure that we are going to part ways once I move into my new place (likely in a month or so). It is so, so painful for both of us. Simply put, we are both incredibly heartbroken. I haven't been able to think about anything else, and she went to go stay with her mom for a couple of days to give us space to process all of this.
I guess im wondering, are we ruining an incredible thing that we have by worrying too much about the future? Or are we right in making sure were on the same page here (and if we aren't, is this really the only option for us). What would you do if you were in this predicament? It all did a 360 so quickly, and I think we are both left completely devastated here.
TL;DR - Girlfriend of 4 years (that I wanted to marry) wants to raise a family in the country. I have never enjoyed the country, and I can't see myself compromising on this. Is there anything we can do or is breaking up the only option for us?

2024.05.16 05:26 Void-Space-Purgatory Missing a name for a educational short animation film? Saw it in the 90's

Saw this in the 90's, on a vhs. Was a sort of a filler before what ever else was on that vhs. Something educational I'm sure.
Hand painted backgrounds, watercolour and such, hand drawn animation all the way. Characters don't pop out, more like blend with everything.
Not overly cartoony like Disney, more real life like Soviet Union/Czechoslovakia animation style.
Definitely a lot older than 80's or 90's.
No words are spoken, mainly exclamations and murmurs and sorts. Nature sounds and background noises.
The start scene is of a beautiful, vibrant green forest. Long trees, lots of different greens and leaves. Then there is a clearing of sorts. A man walks in from the right, carrying a basket. Full body is shown. Looks like irl person, but more plainly drawn. Possibly gathering berries and mushrooms. Stops by a tree, closer shot of him. Finds an egg from below a tree, looks around but sees no nest. Puts it in his basket. Camera moves back to original position. Walks back where he came.
Next scene is of him driving away from the forest, wiggly road, then more and more cars are around him as he nears the city he lives in. Very noisy. Cars go horizontally on the screen, over bridge and roads. Everything turns more grey and concrete is everywhere. He parks and goes to his apartment. Colors are dull.
He walks towards the camera to a desk with a lamp on it. Gently puts his basket down and takes the egg from it. Places it in a small box with tissues and moves a desk lamp over it, turning it on. Sits down and watches the egg. Elbows on desk and palms on his cheeks. Clock ticks in the background as time moves on.
A close up of the egg. The egg makes shell breaking sounds. He is overjoyed and can't wait for it to hatch. And it does. But not a baby bird is seen. It's a baby snake. The snake has funnily enough more cartoony eyes than him. Seems to be an adder (European Viper). It obviously thinks him as his "mom". So happy to see him. He sighs, not sure about it at first, but decides to take care of it.
Time goes on and the snake grows. They have become a bit close. He chuckles a lot at their shenanigans. His place has a bit more color.
It is spring time again, and we see the man put the snake to his basket. Humming and all. Out he goes to the greyness. Then a cacophony of cars driving horizontally again, until only he is seen driving towards the forest by the wiggly road. It is more silent, nature sounds are back.
In the forest, he arrives at the same spot he found the egg in. He gently places the basket down and ushers the snake to check out their surroundings. Snake leaves in the end, saying goodbyes by flicking it's tail?? and the man smiles, chuckles and leaves the area.
The end.
So a sort of educational short film. Don't pick up random eggs and if you do, nurture them and bring back to forest when ready to live there.
But yeah, this is all I can remember. Not the title, not the creators or even what came after this short cartoon.
Anyone else remember this and whom possibly made it?

2024.05.16 05:21 Electronic_Jicama852 Reserves Options?

Good evening. I'm a 33 year old male. I have never considered joining the military until recently in the past few yrs for a couple reasons...
1.) I work in local government in parks and recreation (have worked for cities and a county). I have applied online for federal jobs working on a military base in recreation, have had interviews (couple second rounds), but it always comes back to not having federal experience. I'd like to be able to land one of the jobs and work in federal government for the rest of my career.
2.) I've also reached the point in my life where I want a new challenge.
I currently do crossfit 4 times a week and have been going for a year. I can run a mile in about 8 mins and I am in pretty good shape. I don't think passing the physical fitness tests would be an issue. I'm 5'9 and about 182.
Would it make sense to join the reserves, just so I can have a way better chance of landing a federal job? I'd have to be away from work for about 8 weeks for training, but I can take the time (I work for a County). What reserves would be best in my situation?

2024.05.16 05:18 MakeRealApp It took me 5 years to go from $0 to $3000 MRR and this is what my last 5 year journey looks like.

I have made a lot of goals in my life. I have also fulfilled one or two, but it took way longer than I estimated.
In 2018, when I was first introduced to web development, my goal was to get a job on Upwork within three months.
However, I didn’t get any gig on Upwork until 2021. In fact, I couldn’t even complete any projects in the first two years.
My first project was an e-commerce website for a local shop. That was my first real gig in web development. I built it using WordPress. (I was really bad at coding at that time). I believe the only reason I got this gig was because of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Then, I got another client (actually a request from a relative) who needed software for managing a local government council (mainly residential and commercial taxes).
I also built that in WordPress. It was a pretty complex project to develop in WordPress, but it served until 2021.
By now, I was good at WordPress and got a good start on Upwork. At the end of 2021, a client suggested that I start my services on Fiverr.
This time, I started on Fiverr as a mobile app developer. Everything was going well, so I hired a few developers to help me. (That’s how MakeReal got started.)
By 2022, we had built UPMIS from scratch using the MERN stack. We onboarded 14 areas. It was going well. We started working on Academy Pro and Squad AI.
My journey started well, but I got distracted.
My bad time began in mid-2022. I launched a niche food delivery service for local cities. This was the worst decision of my life so far. I lost all of my money ($15,000), a good six months, and my dev team.
The only hope was Fiverr clients. I did a few gigs and by mid-2023 started a job. It paid my bills but it wasn’t enough ($1,000/month). I started doing gig work with my current client and started monthly after a few months ($2,200/month).
2024 started well and is going pretty much okay.
So far, we made UPMIS an end-to-end SaaS product. I got a co-founder and it’s going well.
I am happy with my one client at MakeReal. We developed 20+ WordPress sites, one mobile app, and two Next.js projects over the last three months.
I joined Reddit few months ago. Since then, I’ve gotten to know a lot of folks doing exactly what I want to do in my life.
I have made an effort to get one client for MakeReal but didn’t succeed. Then I tried to get a few signups for Squad AI, but that didn’t go well either.
Now, I understand that I lack a few skills. The number one is writing.
When I open Reddit to post something, most of the time I can't produce even a single word.
So, from now on, I will write — well, anything—blogs, tweets, replies, life stories.
And this is the first part of it.

2024.05.16 05:11 Character_Morning_32 Problem is the party never ends

Morning all (or afternoon, evening, take your pick), I've been a problem substance abuser for twenty three years now, starting at 16. Luckily nothing too heavy, initially weed, I was never a gifted smoker and could never hold down a job, looked like shit and didn't care, slept all day and all night, tons of debt, shitty friends, missed out on hundreds, maybe thousands of amazing experiences because I wanted to stay home and get high. In 2008 I broke out of that, got a job in teaching and have been essentially a functioning alcoholic ever since. It's like my whole life I've always just been bad at being clear headed and straight, never content to just sit there without something getting me wrecked. Teaching is full of drinkers, I love rock, punk, metal, clubs, festivals, all full of drinkers. I am currently travelling around various spots in Asia (Vietnam - Malaysia - Japan - Thailand - currently Taiwan), working online and living the dream. Full of drinkers. I have also been a liability on a number of occasions. Drinking until 4am, blacking out, waking up somewhere where I don't know where I am. I dont piss myself but I do lose a lot of hats and cigarettes. Last Saturday morning I woke up on a bench, made it about 200m down the street then passed out on another bench, threw up under it then finally got my shit together and stumbled home. This was at about 7am in a big city in Taiwan. Families, kids going to Saturday school, elderly people exercising, everyone going about their day. And me, a 6ft3in white male barfing and sleeping in the middle of a park next to a busy subway station. It's fucking pathetic and I hate myself for it. I'm too old and too tired and my body is too beaten up to keep on doing this. But, booze is everywhere, and no matter how bad it gets I always convince myself of the same old cycle - quit completely for a little while - pat myself on the back for being a good boy - convince myself I can drink in moderation - drink in moderation for a little while - get a true taste for it - lose a whole weekend and wake up Monday feeling like hell - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, sober and working but filled with existential dread and suicidal ideation. I'm going back to the UK in a few weeks. Even if I manage to quit for a while here, when I'm back home I will be surrounded at all time by fellow drinkers, heavy drinkers, and various sniffables and smokables and the ten months I've spent getting my head together, avoiding everything other than booze, will all go out of the window and I'll be waking up at 6am on Monday for work after 4 hours sleep all weekend with a nose clogged with blood and regret and that specific kind of headache that only valium and more booze can come close to shifting. It's fucking depressing knowing this is how weak I am. Anyway, no real point or request, just haven't put this into words for anyone else to read. I've written loads in my diary but I'm already anxious that if I die suddenly and my mother reads it she will then also die, but of secondhand shame. I'm not particularly addicted to alcohol, I only drink beer and occasionally shots, I can go days and sometimes weeks without really missing it, if the time and place is right. I'm addicted to parties and late nights and chatting shit and singing and dancing. Which is a shame because they all lose some of their appeal when you're on the soft drinks. I mean, they don't, it's all about perception. How do you cope, those that have broken free? What're your stories? I feel like this cycle is similar for everyone that knows they have a problem. Thank you for reading x

2024.05.16 05:08 Mr-Swann Rebuking the "Kendrick didn't respond to Drake's bars. He just attacked" argument

"The family matter and the truth of the matter it was god's plan to show y'all the liar" (Family Matters) plus his third verse in Not Like Us is a whole ass rebuttal of "rapping like youre trying to get the slaves freed" "homie still doubled down by calling us some slaves". Do you guys even read lyrics. At least the whole third verse was recorded after he heard Family Matters.
And depending on whether you believe Kendrick had/has a mole, it's possible he heard Aubrey's tracks in advance. I mean he was moving stupidly pronounced by playing Push Ups to Rory and Mal, telling Kai Cenat and Ak that he was about to drop, etc. Both euphoria and 6:16 In LA indicate he had some notion of what Drake was up to "Fabricatin' stories on the family front cause you heard Mr. Morale" + "I see somebody lyin', i smell somebody lyin' I don't see no fire" He doesen't have a tight circle. Hell his first diss was a leak with an old reference track beat and bars he scrapped. We never did talk about wtf happened there. The Weeknd also mentioned "Leaks in their operation" so it wouldn't shock me if that was the case.
MTG has several rebuttals:
.Fuck what Ozempic did (Drake talked about Rick Ross being on ozempic)
.He called Adonis a black man to call bluff on Drake's "oh you hate lightskins but your wife is mixed" narrative. "Never code-switch whether right or wrong you a black man even if it don't benefit your goals" he clarifies that he attacks Drake for "code switching" and not for his skin-color
."Its only big D and there is videoproof" to "they be leaking videos of themselves to further push they agendas"
. "He rather destroy families than taking care of his own"
.You lied about the only artist that can offer you some help
Unless Kendrick has insane levels of foresight (which i'm not sure he is Nostradamus like that) to rebuke these things before they come his way (if that's what you think you're basically saying he's a genius, and if so it doesen't matter that he didn't directly address certain bars) he most definitely heard Family Matters.
Another thing. Spending a whole track in rebuttals comes off as defensive, which was Drake's grave mistake. It's aways better to be on the offence, gives the impression of dominance.
Also Drake just saying "If i was fucking young girls I promise i'd been arrested" was not helpful, just saying "nuh huh" is not a move that's better than mostly attacking like Kendrick did. The only new angle Drake provided was a fairly misguided attack to flip Mother I Sober On Kendrick and it just made him look stupid and kinda weird.
Also if you believe Kendrick didn't address certain things, Drake hasn't addressed the following laundry list of insults:
. He has sex offenders on payroll (amongst them Baka, to whom Drake gave several celebratory bars about being released from prison. Baka was arrested for a sexual assault charge, originally a sex trafficking charge that was dropped due to the victim not testifying, this can mean several things)
. He has substantial help from ghost-writers
. He's addicted to popping percocets
. He's addicted to visiting whore-houses
. He's a degenerate gambler
. He sculpted his abs and does ozempic (the medication which he supposedly planted but then was confirmed to belong to whomever the fuck EbonyPrince2k24 is supposed to be, is hard nosed evidence he's on several pills, ozempic included)
. T.I's friend pissed on his leg and he did nothing about it
. He's unmasculine and even next to Sexy Redd he presents himself this way
. He's a mysoginist
. He's a body-shamer
. He hates black women
. He uses his father to validate his image and in return his father squeezes money out of him
. He's not a present father
. He's a narcissist
. He keeps bringing family into rap beef and it backfires on him
. He harrases good, uninvolved people like Anthony Saleh, Dave Free, Whitney; to appear tough and in control "Ain't no brownie points for beating your chest harrasing Ant. Fucking with good people make good people go to bat"
. He payed 500 thou to settle a sex assault case he had years ago
. He belittled Kendrick for his contract splits but he's also signed to a multitude of people despite getting a massive record deal
. He attaches himself to people like J. Prince or Birdman for streed cred and then washes his image by making gun violence consciousness ads for the city of Toronto
. He violated Pac's name by using him in a diss track
. He dissed Pharell for no fucking reason and is scared to go against an actual threat like Pusha T.
. He code-switches depending of racial/cultural context
. He attaches himself to younger people like Lil Yachty to stay relevant
. He exploits twitter bots and is posted up with people like Ak, Zack Bia and XqC to control internet narratives
. He's a culture vulture (according to Kendrick, a colonizer) profiting off of black men that come from more perilous circumstances to construct an image of street life he's not familiar with

2024.05.16 05:02 endless_cerulean Real estate/general financial planning

Hello! We are looking for general thoughts and advice. This is long but not complicated. The backstory: My wife and I live in the Midwest and both work as staff in higher education. This means that our area has a much higher cost of living than the rest of the state. We currently make around 120k combined before taxes and our health insurance is covered by our institution (so long as we use our university's facilities). We have never had experience paying for insurance, so this is all we know. Retirement contributions are fabulous from our employer. We do not have kids and are not going to. Both of us came from low middle class (at times working class) backgrounds so we have fairly low expectations for wages, benefits, etc but are trying to reframe that perspective (if i lost my job l would work fast food in a hearbeat, for example). I have a masters degree and am working on an MBA paid by my employer. We have 15k in savings and are able to travel internationally for our jobs but add on vacation time. We have 15k in private loan debt between us and I still have about 10k in public loans that if all goes well will be forgiven next year. We own a rural home that we bought in 2020 and have found it is so isolating, bad for our wellbeing, and despite being an awesome property just not what we want for a lifestyle. The driving has been super stressful as our campus doesn't offer parking for employees and there has been so much road construction and numerous accidents. We also had to buy a 2nd vehicle (paid in $400 cash to a sibling) but it constantly has issues.
Here's where we are: we have an offer on our house that leaves enough leftover for a 5% down-payment on a house back in our college/workplace town as well as wiping out that private loan debt (about 400/month). We have NEVER had a down payment on any of our homes so this is a big deal and gets us into a 30 year rate that we hope to refinance (previously we did in house 100% financing with no PMI with our local bank). We want to walk to work again for our health, ditch the 2nd vehicle, and pay off those loans. Rates are crazy right now but the saved fuel cost and price of utilities in our current home will cover the difference.
I guess I'm just looking for outside and smart perspective here. We are in our late 30s...what aren't we considering? We plan to remain in our city for life. We don't have IRAs or know anything about investing besides our TIAA accounts and want our next house to be "it." I'm working on some stuff that will allow me to leave the college and expand on some skills/move to the private sector remotely but it won't be a huuuge salary increase because we love our work/life balance.

2024.05.16 04:59 accidentalswifty Animal control is on a mission to make me miserable

TL/DR; I got into some legal trouble, part of the fallout was my abusive ex calling the city and reporting that my animals were neglected and they couldn’t prove it in court but I pled to a lesser charge to be done with it. Since then, they have been itching to find me in violation of my probation and ultimately got me for having one more dog than the city allows. I have had four dogs as long as I’ve lived here and I now have to go to court and explain why I was violating my probation. The initial charges were issued based off a picture submitted by someone who didn’t have authorization to be on my property and the second time evidence was obtained after the officer climbed up on my fence and looked into my yard, without a warrant or my permission and then he threatened to seize my animals if I didn’t comply with his demands.
I went to jail on NYE and was in there for three days (weekend/holiday) for a petty crime. My 4 dogs and 2 others that I was watching for a friend were at my house. My best friend cared for them (very well might I add) while I was in jail. Animal control was contacted by my ex claiming the dogs were left alone, mistreated, and that I was boarding animals at my home. I returned home from jail and animal control was waiting for me at my house. He’s new, still has the creases in his uniform, stands about two feet shorter than me and takes his job very seriously. You know the type. Regardless of Paul Blart’s larger than life personality, I remained professional throughout all of our interactions. He wrote me a citation for animal cruelty for leaving my dogs regardless of the fact they were cared for, unauthorized use of a residence (because I accepted money from my friends to watch their dogs), not picking poop within 48 hours, hard to do when in jail, and number of dogs on premises (the city allows 3 dogs max, I have lived here for 8 years unaware of this and I moved here with the same 4 dogs I have now and that’s not changing). Prosecutor in my tiny town of like 30,000 people recommended 11 days of jail (no, I’m not joking). I pled to number of dogs on premise and the boarding charge in exchange for 1 year unsupervised probation as the judge didn’t exactly see eye to eye with the prosecutor. To my knowledge, animal control has been aware that I’ve had four dogs and I have certainly not given them any reason to believe I have less than four dogs. That I can assert without a shred of doubt.
A month after we reached an agreement, I received a letter in the mail from the same officer, stating that on 4/8 they received a complaint that my dogs were barking in excess. He edited the standard message to include that this would be my only warning and that the next one would be a summons, which would violate my probation. He made note of the complaint which was received via our cities “app” where anyone can report anything and they may do so without any ounce of personal information tied to it. What struck me as odd was that the “complaint” came in on 4/8, however the letter and the report were filed on 4/7. What’s even stranger, is that I was camping 3 hours away with all four of my dogs for a week and didn’t return home until 4/11. I can’t help but to feel like that was anything other than a targeted attempt to punish me.
A week after that, animal control is in my alley looking over my fence into my yard. Harassing my dogs who were now barking aggressively (as they have every right to do might I add, I don’t care if the FBI or the Pope are peering over my fence, unless you have my permission to do so my dogs can do whatever the hell they want). A few minutes later there’s a knock at my door, he tells me that I’m in violation of the ordinance regarding the number of animals I have on premise. I told him that * ”I do not wish to speak to you anymore because every time I have been honest with you— I have only ever been honest with him— it was under the pretense that you were “concerned” with my animals and you used that concern against me” * His supervisor, who is a literal Paul Blart on steroids told me that I would either do whatever the officer said or they would “seize whichever dogs they wished to at their discretion and I could go to court to get them back but that likely wouldn’t end in my favor”— that’s a direct quote. He then asked me to bring my dogs out one at a time for him to “inspect”, all of whom were healthy and in great shape as they’ve always been (which we both agreed on). He then issued me a summons. A day later I received a letter in the mail from the court stating I was in violation of my probation and that I needed to appear at a different date to explain to the judge why I was violating my probation.
Can animal control look over my fence? Am I not to expect a certain level of privacy in my own home? What if I had been back there sunbathing in the nude and does it make a difference if I was or not?
They didn’t have a warrant but they threatened to take my dogs away if I didn’t comply. That just feels fucked up to me, pardon my French.
What’s my angle in court? I cannot afford an attorney and the public defender they appointed me last time is a sleaze so that’s a no go.

2024.05.16 04:58 amiamian License pending suspension due to non-receipt of notices

Florida.
I received a notice today that my license is pending suspension due to non-payment of a red light camera ticket. This is the first notice I receive regarding this citation. I didn't receive any prior communications from the red light camera "vendor" or the county. While it was too late to reach the county for clarification, I did reach the vendor who acknowledged that the notices they sent me were returned to sender due to insufficient address (they didn't include the apt #). Of course I will reach out to the city in the morning and I hope I get through to someone. If anyone has any advice or experience with this, it would be greatly appreciated.
My most immediate concern is the status of my license or suspension. The court says the license suspension entry date was May X, but the notice says "will be suspended indefinitely effective June X", 30 days from the courts suspension entry date. Also, the notice was dated 10 days after the courts entry date, effectively taking away 10 days from my 30 day appeal period. Fuck them.
This isn't my first experience with this "vendor" www.violationinfo.com and non-receipt of violations. I had a previous experience some time ago where I didn't receive any notice from them. If you receive a red light camera ticket, it's effectively a fine that doesn't count as a traffic citation. However, if you don't respond, it's converted into a traffic citation, increases the fine, and does lead to points on your license. Despite apparently having knowledge that their notices were not delivered, they proceeded to escalate this to a traffic violation and hand it over to the county. Does anyone think I have any valid claims against this company for its willing or careless negligence?
