I've recently been able to upgrade my SP6, to an 8, and have gotten back into the fiddling with my setup mode, again.
Shockingly, name checks out, and I'm big samsung DeX proponent, and happen to have a bunch of DeX related accessories around, and now with my SP8 I'm able to cross pollenate between the 2 ecosystems.
As much as I'm pretty happy with the signature type covers, I love the idea of the bluetooth Pro Flex cover.
the price is.......mind boggling to me anyway, but it made me realize
I can just use a lapdock instead. they're straight up cheaper, and you gain an entire 2nd screen.
Can be used either with a single usb-c connection, or wirelessly (miracast for the screen, bluetooth for the keyboard/trackpad and the touchscreen)
Just works right out of the box with the SP.
Heck, for the price of the Pro Flex Keyboard, you could also add in another screen as well...

Pictured is my SP8 to the left, nexdock 360 to the right (connected via usb-c, but it could be 100% wireless as well) and above the 360 is the nexpad. nexpad requires a usb-c connection
nexdock is $300ish, while nexpad is $130ish.
and yes, you totally can piece together a cheaper external monitor, bt keyboard/mouse and battery bank.
but for a pretty compact, modular setup, that can also be used with a steam deck, switch/ps5, etc it's pretty great.
and if you also happen to have a phone capable of video out, you have a ton of options with it

Сәлем! I have been learning Kazakh language for a brief time, and I have been made aware a number of language policy reforms that some people are promoting. There are three which I am interested in investigating the popularity and potential effects of.

1. Latinization of Kazakh - What is the intent of this? Is it because Cyrillic cannot be reformed to better suit Kazakh (I am aware of one or two problems, but they seem easy to fix), or is this some sort of strategy to de-emphasize Russian influence and cozy up to Europe, Turkey, and Azerbaijan? What effect will this have on Russian words in Kazakh and the way they are understood and written? I have heard that this will harm the legibility of Russian words.
2. Mandating the dubbing of films, shows, and other broadcasts in Kazakh before they are aired in Kazakh theaters and on Kazakh TV. - I have seen that many films in Kazakhstani theaters are dubbed over in Russian, but that there are usually Kazakh language subtitles, possibly by order of some kind of law from what I heard. However, I have seen some language activists who are not satisfied with this, and wish to further engrain Kazakh in films and TV.
3. Requiring Kazakh fluency amongst the citizenry, including ethnic minorities such as Russians, Karakalpaks, Germans, Koreans, Chechens, Tatars, etc. - I have heard this proposed on occasion by Kazakhs who are frustrated about the fact that if they want to go to a salon, apply for licenses, and more, that they must speak Russian.

Do most people consider these issues pressing or important, and if not, what do people think of the activists who propose such ideas?
I am going to add my opinions here, but you do not have to read them if you don't want to since they could cause offense:
In the case of the first suggestion (Latinization), having watched videos by Latinization activists, read their articles/letters/manifestos, and spoken to a few Turkic speakers on the issue, I think that it is possibly some kind of cringy, spite-based, anti-Russian "decolonization" thing which should end. To clarify, I think this is why the activists are promoting it. I do not know the exact motivation of the government.
Anyway, I think that Kazakh looks ridiculous when it is Latinized (no sane Turkic speaker should want their language to look more like Turkish, Turkmen, or Azeri) and is not at all easier to learn or comprehend since Cyrillic can be learned in 2 weeks by anyone who cares to, so it confuses me what the purpose might be. I predict that even after Latinization, these activists will make noise and ask the government to outlaw Cyrillic displays, newspapers, etc. in any language in an attempt to make Russians want to leave.
The last two numbered proposals (mandatory Kazakh dubbing and requiring Kazakh fluency) are fine by me, and I think the many peoples of Kazakhstan should at the very least be able to speak good Kazakh if they want to remain. The promotion of Kazakh as a dominant language is an awesome undertaking and I hope it continues, I don't like the idea of intentionally decimating or harming the ability of people to speak Russian out of some weird ethnic/racial animus. My intention when I come to Kazakhstan is that I will know both Kazakh and Russian, but will be far more fluent in Kazakh, which I think many people will appreciate.

83 minutes. Mario Bava is so freakin’ creative. This dude has an incredible knack for creating lasting visuals and this is a perfect example of how he puts his creative stamp on a project.
This began as a story by Nikolaj Gogol roughly about witches and travelers who get diverted and stumble upon a world they were not prepared for. This would be all Bava needed to help craft impressive practical effects, beautiful cinematography, and use his writers to help craft a true piece of art. This is the legacy of Bava for me, he has one of the best imaginations in the history of film. He’s much like Harryhausen in his innovation, but instead of fantastical adventures with stop motion, Bava focuses on horrific things and practical bloody effects.
The story is interesting enough, but not what I remember from the film. We start with an incredible visual sequence back 200 years in the past where suspected witches have death masks hammered onto their face. These are masks with spikes on the inside pointing towards the face. There is an attempt to burn them alive as well, but there’s a rainstorm and the villagers get spooked and flee.
Fast forward 200 years and in “modern day” there are two male travelers who break down on the side of the road. The driver starts repairing their carriage and they wander to a nearby crypt and stick their nose into a piece of history that should have been left well enough alone. As they get more entangled in the dark magic that resides in that crypt, Bava and team use mistaken identity and cinematic magic to deliver an efficient and excellent tight 80-minute story.
I just saw Planet of the Vampires as well from the mind of Bava. The maestro just delivers every time he needs to create a memorable scene. I’m sure his time as a camera operator helps improve the way his films look, but it seems like he is also just an artist in the purest sense. He knows how to delve into the macabre and make it beautiful.
