Tomos a3 dying at full throttle under load

2024.05.17 00:59 13Kadow13 Tomos a3 dying at full throttle under load

I’ve got a 1987 tomos bullet and the motor starts up beautifully, runs at wide open throttle just fine with the wheel off the ground, but when I get to try to start moving if I don’t pedal it it’ll bog down with any throttle and die. Once I get going it refuses to consistently shift into second and when it does it bogs down and dies. It’s iffy running at full throttle. Sometimes it’ll run fine but refuses to shift and eventually it’ll bog down and if I don’t cut throttle it’ll kill the engine. I’m not super familiar with two stroke engines but it feels like it’s getting too much fuel because it will accelerate from a dead stop on flat ground if I just don’t touch the throttle at all. I’ve run it without the air filter incase there was a blockage there but it was fine. I checked the clutch material and they have more than plenty material, with just a light clutch chatter whenever im riding it. My (uneducated on 2 stroke mopeds) opinion is to try rejetting the carb with a slightly smaller jet and go from there. I’ve been looking around but unfortunately I haven’t found much help on forums so I’m checking here before ordering new jets to see if any of you have any advice.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.17 00:57 DroppedLeSoap Is it too late to seek a lawyer or get advice for a car accident almost 6 months ago?

Im living in Ohio. In December of last year I was leaving work and got Tboned in the parking lot. Guy that hit me was driving on the opposite side of where you normally drive, and didnt stop at the white yield paint in the lane tonthe right of me, so was in my blind spot. Hit my rear passenger fender as I drove infront of him. It wasn't a hard accident. It dented the fender but not bad. I hit my head on my driver window.
Driver admitted fault right there, gave me his insurance information and declined to take mine. Not sure if that was a bad idea or not. But at the time I didn't care. My car I spent 1200 bucks on, and it wasn't something brand new or expensive. I just bought it from a family member. So we went our separate ways. I had a slight headache all day after that turned into a migraine. Went to bed with it. Woke up the next morning still having a migraine and went to work. All day long I felt "off".. not sure how to describe it but just felt different. Didn't think anything of it. But as the day went by I got worse. Eventually I tried going on a walk to reset a fire alarm at rhe opposite end of the plant. From here all my memory is foggy. I remmeber walking. Sitting in a stair case for a while cause I got dizzy and my legs were weak. I have brief memories of walking back to the security office where I work, leajing on the wall to support myself. Coworker made me go to the on-site nurse. I've got vague memories of being in her car later as she took me to the hospital and from then on its all foggy. I spent 3 days in the hospital where they believe I had a type of seizure, like subdermal or something. And possibly had a stroke from a TBI. But all my tests and scans came back negative so nothing was ever confirmed.
After I got home I filed a claim with the guys insurance. As i was told by the hospital that due to possibly having a stroke I can't drive for 6 months, and since my work is contracted with GM Motors that meant I couldn't work until I'm cleared. It took several days for them to get ahold of him since he was working so much, and he didn't even argue according to their claim adjuster, he admitted fault right then and there. So the adjuster said they would start the process for a settlement. I figured I got lucky since they accepted liability and didn't do anything else
It's been almost 6 months and last I heard was they're still putting everything together to come up with an estimate. I'm getting final notice bills from the hospital and other medical related companies and ive no clue what to do. Should I have even talked to a lawyer first? Or is it far too late? I didnt even consider it cause I don't know much about this type of stuff and was afraid if I got a lawyer it could go bad for me. Like maybe his insurance company would somehow decide I was actually at fault. Since it was in a parking lot from what I've read I had a 50/50 chance od being found at fault, so when they accepted liability I thought it was best not to push it. Now I'm thinking that was stupid. But its been almost 6 months. I've barely been able to cover bills. I've lost out on a complete social life, dating life, concerts/events. Should I still maybe see a lawyer?

2024.05.17 00:57 sakshamg123 2012 Nissan Sentra Starting issues

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some help with my 2012 Nissan Sentra, which has over 222,700 miles on it. It started having intermittent starting issues last November after being parked outside in Chicago for a month without being started, causing the battery to die. I jump-started it, and it worked, but the starting issues have persisted since then.
A mechanic replaced the starter motor, but the problem continues. He also checked the battery and found it was at 11 volts. I'm not sure what could be causing this. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.17 00:43 Select-Name-628 I need career suggestions, wood workers probably the best to advise, I'm torn and my health issues now need to be taken into account

I've wanted to become a tradie since I was 14. I do voluntary house refurbishments with a charity which I love but I want to specialise in something if I can where I'd make more money/be able to go self employed/be able to do emergency calls outs for extra money if possible. Hold on for the long essay but please bare with me!
So a little about me; - I'm suspected ADHD and autistic so I need to be able to work flexibly eventually otherwise I get burnt out quickly and can't cope with working/parenting. - My fine motor skills arent the greatest but also not terrible just might take a little longer than average to do things. - I currently am not particularly strong but I'm intending to start weight lifting soon as long covid caused me to lose muscle. - I love people and crave human interaction but I don't think I could handle working with people consistently all day every day without burning out. - I have a great eye for detail. My brain works pretty fast in terms of planning the order of things that need to be done for optimum and best results and time management of a project. I've worked with a lot of tradesmen and it's been frequently noted that I'd make a "great quality control" or management person and that I regularly notice things others don't or think of things others don't etc.
I thought about site joinery but I don't think in my current state I'd be strong enough for the lifting and fitting of alot of things.
I thought about plumbing but I'm worried I won't be strong enough to tighten things as they need to be.
I thought about electrical work but fine motor skills are a requirement and honestly I don't know if it would just bore me to tears (I've a taster day coming up to see how I feel)
I thought about kitchen fitting but heavy lifting...
I don't know what to do. I don't know enough about the different things I could be doing within each trade, so I don't know which direction to take...
Any advice ? 😭😅♥️

2024.05.17 00:41 Mister_UnSaved Why are Bot civilian extractions so hard??

Level 89 here. I typically play on level 7 difficulty with randoms. And I have found that the ‘rescue science teams’ mission is damn near impossible. These missions only take place on defensive campaigns. So far I have played with four different random teams, and I have only been successful once. With a personally clear rate of 25%, I have to wonder if other Divers are experiencing the same thing? I can beat most level 7 missions solo, so why am I having trouble with this mission in particular?
This is the mission where you drop in and immediately start rescuing scientists. Not the one where to have to activate terminals around the planet before starting the rescue.
For this mission, my load is: Heavy Armor with the fortified trait The pumpler or dominator The 500kg The Ems motor The rocket or autocannon sentry The quasar cannon The vitality booster

2024.05.17 00:37 KingDerp1369420 Is my fan motor bad?

A few weeks ago I came home to my condenser units fan not running and it making a loud humming noise when kicking on, like a bad capacitor. I was able to get the fan started by using a wooden dowel to hit it at that time and I figured it was the capacitor that had gone bad and I went ahead and replaced it.
I came home today to my a/c blowing warm and upon inspection of the condenser unit my common terminal had overheated. I went ahead and replaced it with another capacitor to get it up and running for the time being and think that the fan motor is the real culprit causing the capacitors to go bad.
Does this sound like a bad fan motor to the professionals on this subreddit?

2024.05.17 00:37 kattykitkittykat How to visually represent a solar term from the Chinese lunisolar calendar?

Chinese calendar apparently divides the year up into 24 solar terms to help with the timing of farming and stuff. This is relevant because when one specific solar terms) starts, this term marks the beginning of a festival called Qingming Festival, which is sort of like a Chinese Day of the Dead.
But I'm not sure how to visually represent that? I want to do it for an asian american art piece I'm making, combining Scifi/astronomy and Chinese culture.
For more context, the chinese calendar according to chinese wiki (baidu) says that "The twenty-four solar terms were originally determined by the direction of the handle of the Big Dipper. The handle starts from the "寅位”(Yin position)" and rotates clockwise once, which is one year. When the handle points to the "乙位 (Yi position)", it is Qingming."
So I'd love to maybe use a background of the night sky with the big dipper pointing in the right direction, or maybe show a diagram of the sun at the celestial longitude of 15 degrees.

This morning while driving my at temp light started flashing and my uphill assist, traction control and abs lights came on I pulled codes c1431 (brake pedal load sensing switch) and c1532. (Excessively high motor current) I replaced the brake light switch hoping for an easy fix but no dice. Now it is throwing codes c1431 and c1531(abnormal motor terminal voltage)
My research shows that it might be the valve body on the cvt but wanted to get a second opinion seeing as I'm not throwing any of the other codes that other forums mentioned
The car still drives normally and I don't believe the transmission fluid is overheating as it flashes at me even after letting it sit overnight
Any ideas?

2024.05.17 00:23 AnAnxiousExtrovert Gamewell GWF 707 - accidentally bumped into a capacitor on panel

I was adjusting a gamewell panel today because it was seating too far into the wall, and the panel door wasnt opening much at all. While reaching in there I accidentally bumped a capacitor ( R3 220 50v, labeled c31 on board), and one end isnt soldered anymore, but the other is. (but its still touching the contacts on both sides). The panel was disconnected from AC power (and batteries) when this happened. So there was no power to the panel. I started freaking out because im newer to this company. I turned the power on, and everything was fine/ no troubles. System Normal
My question is would the panel report a trouble for a "failed component?" Im sure this is going to be a problem in the future regardless.

2024.05.17 00:13 Cyberdelic420 Do you think this engine sounds like it’s running good?

Do you think this engine sounds like it’s running good?
This was my grandpas 03 Impreza that I got after he passed recently. He put quite a bit of performance parts into it and raced it pretty often up until a few years ago. I guess it started leaking a fluid into the track and hadn’t taken it back since. I haven’t been able to find any leaks after driving it to work for the last few weeks. My step dad says he thought he remembered my grandpa saying something about a blown head gasket, which I know these engines are notorious for, but the oil and coolant both shows no visible signs of contamination. There is the oil catch can though which does drain a milky mix. This could be from water contamination from combustion, or from cold starts maybe? Or could be a blown head gasket? But still no leaks onto road or drive way while operating the vehicle. I guess only way to know for sure is to drain oil pan and/or radiator and inspect all of the fluids?
This isn’t even what I initially am making this post about though. I figured after sitting for a few years it could use new spark plugs, I also see it running very fuel rich on the aifuel ratio gauge, and the exhaust smells like gas. There was a lot of back firing when in 3rd or 4th gear when I’d release the gas. It may be from the turbo, or tuning for better performance at higher RPMs perhaps. But I figured new spark plugs couldn’t hurt regardless. He had NGK R plugs in there with an arc gap at 0.029. I’m not sure if the R stands for racing or resistance as searches have provided mixed results. I put ACDelco plugs in that are supposedly gapped to this motor which does come stock with the turbo. But the gap is about 0.041 which is a lot larger than I initially figured it’d be. Maybe with direct injection and the eco tuning compression may be substantially different than stock.
With the new plugs the engine idles very rough around 500 rpm, and it almost sounded like there was a knocking from the bottom left piston which scared the hell out of me, though I hoped it was from the excessive shaking at the low rpm’s. After double checking connections and torque, it didn’t change. I put the old plug into that chamber giving suspected issues, and my problem seems to have been solved. Could just the one position have that different of a compression ratio to need the smaller arc gap when the others seem to handle it fine? I will be checking compression for each piston soon, but I haven’t yet. Now it backfires in the lower gears when releasing the gas instead of 3rd and 4th like before.
Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated, as I am an amature shade tree mechanic and I’d like to do right by my grandpa by keeping this thing running good and hopefully getting it back on the track someday.

2024.05.16 23:49 Darkmatter36 PSU board rebuild help

PSU board rebuild help
I just finished this board rebuild, schematic above. I replaced all capacitors, Vregs, and the big 47ohm 5W resistor at R103. I tested all my joints to ground and to their next connection in the chain. Plugged it in and everything went good. I'm now just trying to wrap my head around the readings I should be seeing.
This board isn't connected to anything which could be why I'm getting odd readings, to me at least. When testing VDC on the output pin out, I'm getting the bottom four correct; zero for the two grounds and a constant 5.03 for the other two.
But when I test the other 8 connections, the numbers start high and slowly fall to zero. Is this supposed to happen? Or is it a sign of a failing part? I think it's weird that they aren't a constant current. I don't know much about properly testing this.

2024.05.16 23:42 Capt_Scarfish Some contemplations on sex and gender, simple lies and complex truths.

I have a little bit of a thesis on sex and gender, specifically addressing certain objections to our modern conceptions of both.
I'm sure at this point anyone who is taking part in discussions on these topics has heard the question "What is a woman?" and received answers along the lines of "Adult human female". I'm also sure that most of you reading along have heard sentiments similar to "There's only two sexes/genders". There's nothing strictly wrong with those answers, except that I would say that they are a simple lie upon which we build a complex truth.
When we teach children about the solar system, we usually start with a diagram showing the sun in the center and all nine eight planets roughly the same size in tightly packed circular orbits. Anybody even vaguely familiar with astrophysics can point out the inaccuracies, and one might even go so far as to say that that model of the solar system is a lie. However, the simplicity of that lie is a necessary step for us to build the comprehensive truth. Beginning with the dramatic difference in size is extremely difficult for a young mind to comprehend, circles are much more easily drawn than ellipses, and the vast scales of space simply don't fit on an A4 sheet of paper in an 11-year-old's duotang. Once the foundation of a simple lie has been built, we then move on to the more complex truths of astrophysics.
In much the same way, we are taught the simple lies about sex and gender because the actual complexities of those topics are, if you'll pardon the wordplay, astronomical. There's nothing wrong with the simple lies for the vast majority of people going about their day-to-day life. Most people you'll meet on the street don't have intersex conditions, are gender conforming, and play out the cultural expectations for their gender role. After all, gender roles wouldn't be a thing if the majority of people didn't perform them to some degree.
However, simple lies are just that, simple and untrue. They're easy for our minds to grasp, but don't reflect reality. There are certain situations when a simple lie will fail us and the complex truth is necessary. When crafting legislation, teaching doctors about intersex conditions and the additional care needed, or when researching sex and gender, it is imperative that we adopt the complex, comprehensive definitions that so many seem to shy away from.
It's for these reasons that I think the dialectic coming from those who wish for the world to adopt comprehensive, complex definitions should shift towards making those differences known. Rather than telling somebody they're wrong for defining a woman as an "adult human female", I think it would be more valuable and more correct to point out that that definition fails to grasp the vast complexity of sex determination and gender identity.

2024.05.16 23:34 louvveniafisher How to Get A Car Shipping Quote for a New York to Florida Vehicle Transport

How to Get A Car Shipping Quote for a New York to Florida Vehicle Transport
When planning to transport a vehicle from New York to Florida, the first thing you need to do is get a car shipping quote. This quote provides an estimate of the cost involved in moving your vehicle and helps you budget accordingly. Understanding how these quotes are calculated can save you time and money.

Factors Affecting Car Shipping Quotes

Several factors influence the car shipping quote you receive. These include:

Distance

The distance between the pickup and delivery locations is a significant determinant. For a New York to Florida transport, the distance is approximately 1,200 to 1,300 miles, impacting the overall cost.

Vehicle Type

The size and weight of your vehicle play a critical role. Larger and heavier vehicles, like SUVs and trucks, cost more to transport than smaller cars due to the space they occupy and the extra weight.
https://preview.redd.it/ugrhs98jxu0d1.jpg?width=708&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3948b6a1b040b516a3a3e53b9f964cd65f723131

Transport Type

There are two main types of transport: open and enclosed. Open transport is more common and less expensive, but it exposes your car to the elements. Enclosed transport offers more protection but at a higher cost.

Seasonality

The time of year affects car shipping rates. During peak seasons, such as winter when snowbirds migrate to Florida, demand for car shipping services increases, leading to higher prices.

Delivery Speed

Standard delivery times are the most economical, but if you need expedited shipping, expect to pay a premium for the faster service.

Pickup and Delivery Locations

Urban areas usually have more competitive rates due to higher demand and easier access to transport trucks. In contrast, rural locations might incur additional costs.

Steps to Get a Car Shipping Quote

Research and Select Reliable Car Shipping Companies

Start by researching reputable car shipping companies. Look for companies with positive reviews, proper licensing, and insurance. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) website is a good place to verify a company’s credentials.

Request Quotes Online

Most car shipping companies offer online quote forms on their websites. Fill out these forms with details about your vehicle, desired transport type, pickup, and delivery locations. It’s a quick way to get an initial estimate.

Compare Quotes

Gather quotes from multiple companies to compare prices and services. Ensure that you’re comparing similar services – for instance, open transport versus open transport – to get an accurate comparison.

Contact Companies Directly

After reviewing online quotes, contact the companies directly. Speaking to a representative can provide a more tailored quote and address any specific needs or questions you have.

Evaluating Car Shipping Quotes

Review Inclusions and Exclusions

When evaluating quotes, check what is included. Some quotes may cover door-to-door service, insurance, and taxes, while others might have hidden fees. Clarify these details before making a decision.

Check for Insurance Coverage

Ensure that the quote includes adequate insurance coverage. Your vehicle should be insured against potential damage during transit. Ask for specifics about the coverage limits and any additional costs.

Look for Discounts

Some car shipping companies offer discounts for various reasons – military personnel, students, multi-car shipments, and more. Ask about any available discounts to reduce your shipping costs.

Finalizing Your Car Shipping Plan

Schedule the Pickup

Once you’ve chosen a company, schedule the pickup. Provide the necessary details and confirm the date and time. Ensure that someone is available to hand over the keys and complete any necessary paperwork.

Prepare Your Vehicle

Before shipping, prepare your vehicle. Remove personal items, check for any pre-existing damage, and ensure the gas tank is less than a quarter full. These steps help protect your vehicle and streamline the shipping process.

Track Your Shipment

Most car shipping companies offer tracking services. Use these to monitor your vehicle’s progress from New York to Florida. Stay in contact with the company for updates and estimated delivery times.

Common Challenges and How to Overcome Them

Delays

Shipping delays can occur due to weather, traffic, or logistical issues. To mitigate this, schedule your shipment with some buffer time. Keep communication lines open with your shipping company for updates.

Damage During Transit

While rare, damage can happen. Ensure that you have adequate insurance and thoroughly inspect your vehicle upon delivery. Document any damages with photos and report them immediately to the shipping company.

2024.05.16 23:29 Initial-Peanut-1786 Review: Eden Fantasy's Wonder Air-Pulse Wand Massager

As someone who has experience with about $20000 worth of toys and cares about toy quality and safety, I aim to provide a genuine review of this toy. I selected this toy because I thought it had the potential to meet a need in air pulse toys that other toys are not meeting: a long handle.
A problem that my fiance and I have been having with other air pulse toys is that they get lubed up and start to slip out of our hands during sex. This longer handle helps her keep the toy in place. While I would say the this toy is average when it comes to power, the ergonomic handle for me is the selling point of this toy.
The handle also works as a dildo with a bullet vibrator style vibrator at the tip. The suction power is similar to less expensive toys I own from Amazon in the $25 to $30 range but slightly more powerful. At $64.99, I consider this toy in the mid-tier segment. I think the power level was what I would expect from this segment, somewhere between my We Vibe Melt and the $25 to $30 Amazon air pulse toys I own. I imagine this toy's long handle would be useful for those with mobility challenges and those who like holding a wand vibrator. The only thing that might have made me even happier with this toy is an addition of a third motor in the air pulse housing so that it can be used as a wand vibrator on the other side or as an air pulse on the other. One can even combine air pulse and vibrator, a combo I have not seen yet on the market.

2024.05.16 23:24 Kiwifur_ 2012 Honda civic (rocking)

Guys I need some help I’ve gone to a mechanic and sunk $800 into my car already trying to get this issue resolved. I have a 2012 Honda civic with 250k miles on it (majority highway miles) anyway, when I come to a complete stop my car starts to rocks back and fourth. I’ve had him in the shop twice now for this issue, first time being my motor mounts, second being my trans mount and some kind of damaged intake pipe (I believe don’t quote me cause I don’t quite remember what it was called exactly <-) . Point is that at first it would ride smooth for a couple of days and I’ve noticed improvement in other aspects of the car but not this damn rocking. If anyone out here has advice on the matter please let me know as I want to get a little more life out this car before I buy another if possible. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.16 23:11 AshleyGamerGirl Dropped phone, BSOD, Vibrates, new screen failed to fix!

As titled, I dropped the phone, the screen is black. It vibrates and I've tried a bunch of different tapping, slapping, methods to try and get it to work. I also replaced the screen and that failed to help. Force reset doesn't work either. So if I grab a circuit diagram, does anybody have any recommendations of where to start poking around with the multimeter to see if I can fix this? I'm stuck with an old piece of junk phone and its miserable e.e..
EDIT: Forgot to mention its an A53!. Also I can feel the vibrations when powering on, force resetting, connecting USB, I don't think though, pressing my thumb to the fingerprint sensor is causing a vibration. I can't remember if it's supposed to though.

2024.05.16 23:03 md9918 Rae Intermediate Pipe with Stock Exhaust - Thoughts

Just got my Rae intermediate pipe installed with stock cat back. I did this for the extra few horses, and am looking forward to dialing it in once I get up with Dmann to complete my etune, and was also looking forward to a more aggressive-sounding exhaust.
I found the quality, as others mentioned, to be excellent. Bends and welds look good. Well packaged (and no packing peanuts or air pouches to deal with!) It came with new gaskets, a pair of bolts for the y-pipe end, and some Nerds Clusters-- an unexpected bonus. I was grateful they included two packs, because my wife stole one before I even realized I'd dumped them out of the box.
Change in the sound of the stock exhaust is pretty subtle. Cold start is the same. A bit throatier driving around town, but most of the difference is in the mid to upper RPM range where it gets a bit rowdy. A little raspier. A little more in the mid-range frequencies (angry bees, I guess I'd call it?) and definite pops when letting off the gas at 3k+ RPMs under hard acceleration (I believe due to rev hang elimination from the Dmann OTS tune I'm running), and coasting in low gear. No drone that I notice.
I intended to install it myself. I only made it to the second bolt on the cat end of the stock pipe, however-- it loosened up a bit, but then got stuck. I soaked it a couple times in WD40, hit it with the torch, and gave myself a stigmata trying to use the ol' two wrench trick. Ultimately the stud snapped, and by that point, I was grateful to have to take it in-- someone else's problem. Exhaust shop charged me $150 to replace the stud and install the pipe and had it done in an hour. Depending on your tools (impact wrench definitely would have helped) and how much you value your time, it might be worth it to check your pride and just take it in if you can find someone to do it for that price.
All in-- not a bad deal. It's pretty much the only way to gain any HP after an intake and tune on 93 besides a J-pipe (can't pass emissions here with a CEL) or some really serious upgrades, so I recommend it if you're looking to get the most out of your motor. Sound improvement is nice but you'll probably want to look into an axelback or catback if you're looking for a difference in sound that anyone other than you will notice.
