This is a continuation of my pattern of posting what I think are decent grocery deals with the hope that this will save some people some money. As noted previously this is heavily skewed to items that I and my family eat. There are probably additional items that are good deals but I don't know it because they aren't items I use but hopefully my list is still useful to you.
A few quick reminders:

PC Optimum points are collected at No Frills and Superstore. 1,000pts is worth $1.
Scene+ points are collected at Safeway, Sobeys and FreshCo. 100pts is worth $1.
The value of Save on Foods points depends on what you redeem them for. If you redeem them for a 4L jug of milk then 1,000pts is worth about $1.50. Other redemptions might make them more or less valuable.

Superstore, No Frills and FreshCo are generally willing to price match identical products from (some) other major grocery stores if you show them the item in the competitor’s flyer while checking out so knowing what is on sale at stores that you don't visit can still be useful. I'm told that Save on Foods will also price match, though I have no first hand experience with them. There are some restrictions on this... FreshCo won't price match Safeway or Sobeys. Superstore (at least sometimes) won't price match Coop. The No Frills on 85st SW won't price match FreshCo.

Currently applying this cycle but struggling with building a school list. I plan on applying to 35-40 schools. My stats and EC's are listed below:
Demographics: ORM. Male resident of CA
Stats: 520 MCAT (128, 130 131, 131). 3.90 cGPA. 3.90 sGPA.
ECs after one gap year:

Clinical paid: ~700 b/w MA and scribing at two different private practices
Clinical volunteering: 120 hrs patient-interacting role at hospital (will add ~160 hrs during gap year 2)
Research: 500 hrs, 2nd author for 2 posters w abstracts in conference journal, not the presenter tho (will add at least ~850 hrs during gap year 2 and hopefully get a pub)
Shadowing: ~80 hours across 4 specialties
Non-clinical volunteering: ~200 hrs serving the unhoused, ~170 hrs at local food pantry. (will add ~300 hrs during gap year 2)
Leadership: ~150 hrs founded a book club during covid and kept it up (not really sure if this counts tbh but it's the closest I have)
Misc long-time hobbies.

Just had it done this morning! wanted to share my experience as i read like every experience post here beforehand lol
I was scheduled for 10:30 got to hospital around 8 and was prepped and ready by 9. Prep consisted of urine test, routine questions, gown, iv, and heated blankets. Talked to the OR nurses, anesthesiologist, and surgeon (who is a family friend which was so nice). We were able to go in early so I was under around 10:15 and woke up in recovery around 12:30. (They also found endo which is vindicating as ive had pain for years!) Didn’t have any nausea or sore throat or uti pain when peeing. Overall just felt sleepy and tender. Had some ginger ale and graham crackers. Got up to walk and pee around 2 and was discharged afterwards. Felt extremely fatigued and sore when i got home. Most painful thing was getting in and out of bed but even then is was only like a 5/10. Had a small migraine later but i chalk that up to caffeine withdrawal and the anesthesia wearing off. Currently cycling 600mg ibuprofen and 1000mg Tylenol, also prescribed gabapentin. 10pm now and im feeling overall ok, surprisingly no shoulder pain i read a lot of people got. definitely recommend having cough drops to avoid straining coughing thats the most painful thing so far. And a cold cap if you are prone to headaches.
shoutout to my surgeon/gynecologist for being absolutely amazing! Heather Florescue at Highland Hospital in Rochester NY!

2024.05.16 04:09 Necessary-Type1008 do i stay awake before my flight or sleep before — trying to figure out the best plan due to time difference/jet lag and could use some advice!! <3

country (country A) i’m leaving is 5 hours ahead of home country (country B) where i’ll b arriving (+5hr time difference).
my flight is at 8:20 am (A time). i’m planning on leaving at 4:15 am (A time) so i can get to the airport with approx. 3 hours before my flight.
then i land for a layover at 11:25 AM (B time!!), and will finish my final flight at 4:45 PM (B time).
should i sleep in the day before my flight, and just stay awake that evening until i need to leave (aka don’t sleep the night before my flight), then try to sleep on my first flight
or
should i sleep a 2-3 hours before my flight then try to sleep on the plane
or
should i just go to bed as normal (12am-2am A time normally) and just try to thug it out / sleep on first flight
or is there some other suggestion to combating the jet lag? i want to be recharged for work. thanks!

Actually have a strategy.
No more 16+ leg parlays anymore...........unless if it's less than %10 of your roll' and even then I feel like they should be roundrobins
I have this theory that incentives or game strategies can definitely correlate to play contracts in certain instances.
Shedeur Sanders will crack 4k passing
Last I ignored or chickened out on calling week one in the nfl. I made a video of it for the sub in last year so check it out. But here's how I think it'll go down. Mind this is what I think if 90% of key players are healthy throughout training camp and preseason:

Ravens over Chiefs. Why? They'll have a top legit run game and andrews will be 100%, passing game opens up and the D will be stronger than ever. Chiefs lose because of multiple new receivers, super bowl hangover and who gives a shit of they lose the first one
Eagles over Packets. Why? Eagles D will help carry them to victory. Hurts ability to run adds more dimension than Love. D line will feast on love. Close game. I think jacobs takes a step back or needs a few games to find his groove. I'd personally would go +12 Packets for wiggle room
Falcons over Steelers. Why? Cousins needs to prove to every person with higher percentages of melatonin in this home opener in ATL that he's not a scrub and that he earned his 100$ guaranteed contact. He has every weapon known to man to succeed on that team plus a not to shabby D. Steelers, Tomlin, Tomlinson, Wilson, WizKhalifa and Justin fields can kick rocks and get their wins after this game.
Cards over bills. Why? Mostly because idk why but figure out the finer details yourself. But seriously, I believe they won't be able to contain Kyler. He's got more to prove than Josh Allen and the bills finally having a full season back from injury. I'd argue the Cards D will be hungrier as well.
Bears over Titans. Why? Caleb Williams seems to be more mature and focused on success than what reports initially were. I think he's gotta play a lil hero ball but I think with the receivers and the D being near top 10 at the end of the season last year the make a statement to the city that Da Bears are back. Levis will have a good team behind but.. ehh.. I think the D let's him down. They'll be good after this first week
Bengals over Patriots. Why? Because Boston hates black people but jokes aside I hope I don't have to explain why.
Colts over Texans. And that's the bottom line because Stone Cold said so!!! I'd like to leave this one up for discussion but I just feel that texans have had everything go for them since last season. Tripping up week 1 wouldn't be a knock to them but I think the O coordinator for the colts, Richardson, Pittman and Taylor..uh.. actually never- mind the Texans win. I think it'll be an interesting match though.
Phins over Jags. Why? Because the women in south Beach are approximately 100x hotter than the ones in Jacksonville. I think speed kills. If the D can pressure Sunshine(can't think of his name) then it'll be though to win the in state battle.
Saints over panthers. Why? Because unless Bryson added 'growing 5 inches' to his off-season todo list or unless all New Orleans floods again then the opener is going to be hype and Carr needs to prove he's not a waste. Also Legette and his southern draw isn't going to draw up anything special to make Carolina magically win this game. I don't give a shit if he can run as fast as his horse qwatah hoaw Dolla Bill.
Vikings over Giants why? I hope I don't need to explain this.
Chargers over Raiders why? Idk why
Seahawks over broncos why? Either Sam Howell or Gen Smith and the receivers and D have absolutely no god(s) damn business losing to a rookie in Nix or Zach Wilson or even Stidham. Also, I don't have better reasons
Browns shit on the Cockboys/Cowgirls why? I really don't feel like typing anymore
Bucs over Commanders why? Last year I said to every Viking living Nordic person in a bar to not under estimate Baker. Quite honestly I don't think Dan Quinns strikes any fear into any teams expect maybe the giants from last year so why would a guy like Baker with a new contract and still a cup on his shoulder and a team with a mostly super bowl caliber players give a fuck now?
Lions over Rams why? Reference Falcons summary and partially the superbowl caliber type players reasoning from above
Jets over the 49ers why? Because Rodgers will be closer to Pacfic ocean. Why does this matter? 76% of the dolphins that used those high frequency sound waves will be in the Bay area that night. That's essentially the equivalent of Super Man fighting near the sun. Quite frankly I don't know how this is even remotely fair or legal. JETS D puts the clamps on the Shanahans scheme picks purdy a couple times, Rodgers throws around 250ish yards and Hall runs for atleast 75 yards and a TD

GROW is deeply undervalued and due to GROW into some nice gains (pun, not financial advice). The company was originally known for its gold mutual funds, and about a decade ago pivoted into ETFs. They created one of the largest and most successful thematic airline ETFs, JETS, among other ETFs.
This penny stock is trading at less than book value at the moment, as the market cap is about 0.74 of the book value. The company's current assets minus liabilities is roughly equivalent the market cap of the company at the moment, which is a bit silly. The company's recent quarters had increased opEx due to new ETFs being merged and reconfigured in their Europe business. The opEx may lower and profits may increase over the coming year, thus making it quite silly that the company is trading at roughly their level of cash + marketable securities minus liabilities.
The company is paying a dividend, and the CEO clearly thinks its undervalued too given that they are buying back shares more aggressively than ever before. The company bought back over 100k shares in February alone, of roughly 14 million shares total. That is quite the sum for one month. It seems like the CEO sees increasing profits in the future and a deep value opportunity. He even mentioned "deep value" in the most recent earnings call when discussing the buybacks.
Now, to discuss the potential for an acquisition. The CEO has been running this small company for 35 years, and is approaching 70 years old. Smart beta ETFs are becoming more popular and many other ETF providers may be interested in acquiring this highly undervalued company at a cheap price, not only to add to their current ETF offerings, but also to take a look at US Global's smart beta 2.0 tech under the hood. It just makes sense as an exit strategy.

bogs down, used to bog down at 3/4 throttle on stock 50cc 2 stroke. had 70cc cylinder kit put in with 17.5mm dellorto carb (piaggio zip), have also put new air filter in and exhaust is not stock (technias silent pro)
i have ordered larger main jets, will this solve the issue or could it be something else? i don't feel like it's the pilot jet as accelerates fine at slow speed, as long as under half throttle.. carb is clean thoughts?

2024.05.16 02:07 Nice-Ad-8429 I love Fallout 2. But...

it's early game BLOWS ASS.
Keep in mind, I've played through the game twice now, and Im coming back for a third playthrough. This is to say I know most of the tips and tricks. Now... lets start from the beginning shall we.
Temple of Trials. Those three words are basically an insult of their own to the Fallout community.
I don't know of a better way to filter out players than spending the first 15 minutes of the game running in circles and missing ants over and over again, followed by a "totally not fight to the death" fight to the death with fucking Cameron. Cameron is a very well written complex character meant to ensure that you cannot continue this game if you didn't spec into the right stats. Actually, I dumped points into charisma for this playthrough, so I figured I would just be able to talk my way around him, right?
Hahahaha.... nope.
As it turns out, you HAVE to tag speech to do this, which I didn't do. You'd think with a charisma of 10, my speech skill would be high enough on it's own to bump that speech stat to where it needs to be to talk down the tutorial guy...
But since someone thought that rather than checking the stat itself, the game should check if you TAGGED the stat, which is just... why?
Then we get the side quests in Arroyo. They're fine, pretty easy for the early game... in fact, I'd say the early game quests are still by and large doable with the exception of rescuing Smiley.
It's the random encounters that suck good 'n proper.
When encountering some of the wasteland's friendly locals, you can do one of three things. The first two involve fighting. First off are highwaymen, robbers, slavers, etc. If you stay and fight these guys: you die. Pretty easily put. There are just hordes of them and they all have bigger guns than you, and a HEAP of jet. Fighting them is useless even after clearing the quests in the first three towns. The second option is a bit rarer, but happens like clockwork. Maybe this time you get the upper hand on the robbers. Likely they were attacking a caravan or something, right? So, stick around, wait for the two sides to kill eachother and finish off the survivors.
Nope once again, you see, as a rule, Fallout 2 seems to LOVE crashing if you stay in a random combat encounter for more than a couple minutes. So you're screwed if you havent been saving after every turn, which is the best gameplay mechanic said noone ever.
The third and final option in this fantastic gameplay loop that makes me want to drink paint is to simply run away. Doing this, your companion you were hoping to keep is pretty likely to kick the bucket since they inevitably fight back, making you reload the save anyway when fucking Sulik gets riddled with bullets.
So how did I get past Cameron in the temple of trials? Well, I simply attacked him with a spear before saying anything to him, giving me a head start and a very unfair advantage. Basically I cheez'd the shit out of it, which describes this early game pretty well I think...

Could they though? I’ve seen this “argument” a lot but what could obliterate Gaza in a single day other than a nuclear weapon which would be detrimental to Israel too? But yes they’re being very humane and minimizing civilian casualties by using 2,000 pound bombs and white phosphorus in a very small, heavily populated and besieged area.
Israel flooding tunnels will literally make Gaza uninhabitable for human life (not even taking into account all of the destruction from the bombing), it’ll have disastrous effects on the water system which was already problematic and I just can’t even start with the comment about Bisan’s friend.
Everything she posts about Palestinians rubs me the wrong way.
As most people here probably know Gazans are using eSims to access the internet also she has been claiming Bisan has ties to hamas etc. (with no proof).
The numbers of men, women, children and elderly are under the identified number of casualties, the rest of the casualties don’t have full identification yet. I think they have stopped being able to properly record casualties for a while now, I don’t think this is proof of anything nefarious.

2024.05.16 01:48 OneHamster1337 What VR game have you enjoyed recently that few people know of?

Anything interesting on Steam that’s easy to overlook/ just hard to find if you’re not actively searching for it? Doesn’t matter if it’s old (or how old), so long as the community is at least half active and it has some dev support. I have 2 games to share that I think fit that “interesting but overlooked” bill (if that’s alright), but I’m hoping to see some fun recommendations for me in the comments too :)
Well, my most recent and probably best find was Brazen Blaze, which has free demo access for the open beta right now. Tbf, I like what they’re going for creating a multiplayer shooter (so far only 3v3 matches) that plays like a traditional fighter with the special abilities/ power gauges and finishers. They’re also a fun little competition going on for a Quest 3 reward that the devs are giving out, and some other rewards for just completing in-game tasks. A nice way to start off a competitive multiplayer fighter imho. There’s a lot of potential there, especially if they can expand the destructible area and add more maps for the full release.
The next I one I tried out only last weekend is Swordsman VR. I know that the first thing people compare it to is Blade & Sorcery that’s more widely popular and… well, just better. But for all the reviews, I still found Swordsman pretty fun for what it’s worth. I always liked “realistic” fencing games like that (Hellish Quart and Mordhau are my faves). They keep the spirit of old Bushido Blade alive and this one, while still behind the PC counterparts, still “feels” pretty good despite the jankiness when doing some of the more complex moves. It feels better than stuff like For Honor, that’s for sure.
I also want to give a shout out to Polybius and Vertigo, even though the last one is actually pretty popular now with Vertigo 2. Trippy shooter is the aesthetic I’m beginning to really like in VR games, not gonna lie. Also — Jet Island, even though it’s fallen off in popularity these days from the looks of it. It’s the game that’s made to give you those VR legs in the shortest time possible hahahaha
So I could go on, but too keep this post short I’m gonna leave it at these games (from those I tried recently anyhow). What games do you think are criminally under the radar for most VR players?
