Made this for my mom and I’s movie nights, thought I’d share!
Kinda messy, but I originally just made it for my mother and I. We have movie nights often and are wanting to watch some movies with verified Rs/TRs as we’re both in the romantic family. The categories are a little off, but again, wasn’t originally intending to share, lol!
Still, I thought other romantic ladies may be interested in this list. Seeing verified celebs in action is a great way to get a feel for the ID, in my opinion!

2024.02.27 19:13 Living_Stranger_9668 Upgrade my new Q Acoustic 5040

Hi everyone. I just bought a pair of Q Acoustic 5040s, currently paired with a Denon Ceol N11 that I already owned. The speakers provide sound to an environment of approximately 30m2, the use is mixed with music (Tidal and some vinyl) and films. I don't mind the current configuration, but I find the Heos app very frustrating (especially regarding the use of Tidal) and above all I feel the lack of an HDMI eARC to only use the TV remote control. What could I change the denon with (also making an upgrade in terms of sound performance)? As a budget I would prefer to stay within €1000, €1500 at most.
!thanks

2024.01.01 03:28 dazzlerkid Episode 8 Teaser

A new article have been published regarding to UT episode 8: https://v.daum.net/v/20240101092321904
It is said that each participant from every unit will have to choose who they want to be candidate for elimination. Based on the teaser from Ep 8, looks like Lim Seowon was trying to eliminate someone from her unit (vocal) and it could be possibly Bang Yunha because of her reaction on the very last part of the teaser.
Since unit station was filmed before the 1st promotion ceremony, there are still 30 girls left to compete.
It may be coincidental that 2 from each unit was eliminated already.
According to SBS website, it seems that there's also 2 eliminated contestants after the unit station. So voting will not be counted.
It could be the unicorns decision to eliminate them, or could be the 2 most voted by the girls to be eliminated, or there are 2 girls that dropped out from the show.
We will know in Episode 8 what will happen. Stay tuned on January 3, 2024 - 10:40PM KST.
After Episode 8, we are down with 22 girls and I believe that they are the finalists and will compete for the remaining slots to reach the P grade. It could be predicted that 2nd promotion already happened. And there are possibly 1-2 girls who already secured their debut (Nana is secured for sure).
Anyway, Universe Ticket will have a total of 12 episodes and the final episode will air on January 31, 2024 (Wednesday).

2023.12.22 12:02 myweithisway 2023 Year In Review: Looking Back on 2023 in Kdramaland

안녕하세요. KDRAMA Mod Team입니다.
As we approach the end of 2023 and prepare to welcome 2024, we are kicking off our special year-end discussions and activities! This post will outline upcoming plans and also serve as the first post in our 2023 Year In Review post collection.
The Plans
Our year-end discussions and activities will be comprised of three parts:
Please join us in these discussions as we say farewell to 2023 in kdramaland. Now without further ado, let's begin!
Looking Back on 2023 in Kdramaland
We invite all of you to look back upon 2023 with us at the many things that took place in kdramaland and Korea and share your thoughts and reflections on this past year. To get us started, we have curated a list of events and news from this past year. The following list of events and news has been curated with consideration of how the events/news affected kdramaland and our community. While we welcome input from the community in the comments, we do ask that community members do not make the curation of this list into a political or ideological issue. If there are any events or news that you feel should be remembered, please feel free to share in the comments!
THE WORLD entered into 2023 ready to move onwards from the COVID-19 pandemic as life slowly returned to normalcy. While this was great news in many aspects, for OTT streaming platforms it meant a more challenging market landscape as people were no longer as glued to their screens as they were during lockdown. Despite this, all the players in the kdrama industry vowed to invest more in creating new content, demonstrating their belief in the increasing popularity of Korean content all around the world. Netflix especially drew much attention when it announced that it will invest US$2.5 billion in South Korea over the next four years to produce Korean TV series, movies and scripted shows, marking the largest investment ever made in the South Korean content industry.
Dramas, movies, and scripted shows are just one slice of the K-content pie as the South Korean government renewed their commitment to K-content and the content industry by aiming to double the country's exports of cultural content to $25 billion USD by 2027 following on the heels of exports of the content industry hitting an all-time high of $12.4 billion in 2021. Here content industry is an umbrella term for organizations that make copyrighted works available to the public, such as publishing, music, games, broadcasting, films, cartoons, animation, characters, advertising, knowledge information and content solutions. Notably, the webtoon industry has seen astronomical growth in recent years, especially on the global level, and solidified its place as a key player in the content industry for its creation of IP that can generate revenue through adaptation across a broad spectrum of mediums such as dramas, books, games, and merchandise goods.
In addition to announced investments, the content industry also welcomed the opening of Studio M, a multipurpose water-based filming studio inside Studio Cube, a state-run filming studio in Daejeon, just 140 kilometers (~87 miles) south of Seoul. Besides investing in infrastructure and funding content creation, the SK government also committed to combating digital piracy via a reward initiative for whistleblowers of pirate websites, offering up to 3 billion won ($2.2 million) in compensation. While digital piracy has always been a threat to the content industry, in an era of increasingly rising subscription fees, users are turning to illegal streaming sites and other non-legal distribution channels, hurting the content industry as copyrights are infringed. A friendly reminder here that our subreddit is a staunch supporter of using legal streaming sites so please, source your dramas responsibly.
While 2023 did not see a global hit on the scale of Squid Game, the industry still celebrated the success of Moving and Bargain. Meanwhile in Chungmuro, the Blue Dragon Film Awards bids adieu to an old tradition as Kim Hye Soo, who still holds the record as the youngest recipient of the film awards’ best actress award, steps down as host of the awards after 30 years. While Chungmuro looks forward to next year’s awards, it is also a great chance to look back on its past, especially as 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of both director Park Chan-wook’s 2003 magnum opus Old Boy starring Choi Min-sik, and director Bong Joon-ho’s Memories of Murder starring Song Kang-ho.
In keeping with both reflection on the past and innovation for the future, KBS welcomes back Gag Concert, its flagship comedy TV show that initially aired in September 1999 and ended its first season after 1,050 episodes in June 2020. Newer fans, especially international fans, may be unfamiliar with Gag Concert but this comedy skit show was truly a cultural icon with many star-studded cameos and more than a few jabs at the kdrama industry and its obsession with makjang viewership ratings. Another cultural icon also took an innovative step forward this year as EBS (Educational Broadcasting System) welcomed a new character “Byeori” to its show “Ding Dong Dang Kindergarten”, marking the first time a local children’s show will feature a character with autism spectrum disorder, demonstrating increased attention to promoting acceptance and celebration of differences. “Ding Dong Dang Kindergarten” is one of the most popular children’s TV shows in Korea and has been airing since 1982.
However not all attempts at new things were successful as Busan lost its bid for hosting the World Expo in 2030 and the World Scout Jamboree was a bit of a debacle. Despite these disappointments, SK did have many achievements and milestones throughout the year such as the first time twin pandas were born in the country, Gaya Tumuli being named a UNESCO World Heritage, Jeju’s Haenyeo (women divers who dive without oxygen masks) Fisheries System being designated as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems, KTX’s cumulative total number of passengers exceeding 1 billion, and the opening of the National Museum of the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty.
While some milestones were universally celebrated, other milestones can seem more like the markings of the end of an era that can bring forth discomfort and confusion. As Korea phases out the Korean age system (in mostly legal contexts) and guidelines on ceremonial rites issued under the Confucian educational institute Sung Kyun Kwan authorize the inclusion of fried chicken and ramen on the jesa table (table of food served at traditional ritual honoring ancestors), changes to Korean (traditional) culture seem to be the hot topic this year in SK. With ‘sologamy’ weddings and policies on use of English names in companies making headlines, it will be interesting to see what other aspects of Korean culture undergo change in the upcoming years.
Speaking of weddings, this year kdramaland witnessed the marriage of actresses Cha Chung Hwa, Son Eun Seo, and Lee Da Hae. Meanwhile actors Daniel Henney, Lee Dal, Yoon Bak, Go Kyu Pil, Shim Hyung Tak, Moon Sang Hoon, Heo Dong Won, and Song Joong Ki also got married. Song Joong Ki and wife also welcomed their first child later in the year. And then there are the actor-actress couples that tied the knot this year including Sojin and Lee Dong Ha and Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In. There was also more baby news as actresses Yoo Da In, Gong Hyun Joo (twins!), Yoon Jin Yi, Ji So Yeon (and her husband actor Song Jae Hee), Yoon Seung Ah (and her husband actor Kim Moo Yeol), Na Hye Mi (and her husband actor Shinhwa’s Eric), and Uhm Hyun Kyung (and her husband actor Cha Seo Won) welcomed their first child. Meanwhile actress Kang Sora welcomed her second child.
While celebration of marriages and births have always garnered headlines in kdramaland, this year it seems that SK’s birth rate has been an especially hot topic in the news, especially in the latter half of the year as it was announced that SK’s total fertility rate hit a new low of 0.7, projected number of elementary school freshmen nationwide for next year is below 400,000, and law is being revised to increase parental leave benefits. SK’s low birth rate also directly ties into another ‘forever’ hot issue in SK, that of mandatory military service. Along with school violence, mandatory military service and SK’s changing social outlooks about marriage and having children are some of the important social themes being explored in kdramas. Expect to see more dramas about these themes in years to come, but do also consider past dramas on these themes for a glimpse of changing tides via a kdrama lens.
Changing tides has been something keenly felt in our subreddit community within the past few years as kdramas have skyrocketed in popularity across the world and we’ve grown exponentially in size going from 70,000 in October 2019 to 600,000 in November 2023. This year has been especially meaningful as we celebrated both the 10th anniversary of Heirs, the drama that gave rise to our sweater parrot icon, and our very first AMA with actor Teo Yoo. For the mod team, having the chance to participate in and celebrate these milestones together with the community this year has truly been an honor. We thank you for an amazing 2023 and invite you to stay with us in 2024 as this subreddit tackles its turbulent teenage years.
With that, we are signing off with early best wishes for the New Year -- may your dramas be great, your duds be few and far in between, and Truck of DoomTM-nim find a new look!

2023.11.22 09:46 MmaRamotsweOS The Closet (2020)

Ha Jung-woo, Kim Nam-gil, Heo Yool are the only people we see in this for the majority of the movie. Other characters are only shown for a minute or two and then they're gone. They are played by Park Sung-woong, Kin Soo-jin, Kim si-A, Park Ji-a, and Im Heon-seong.
Our story starts with an old VHS video that has a date of 1998 in one corner. In it, a shaman (Park Ji-a) is performing some sort of ritual in front of a closet. The closet swings slowly open, and the shaman is attacked.
Now in the present, we see a man (Ha Jung-woo) driving on a mountain road, beautiful scenery all around. He's angrily bitching into his phone about someone having not yet found anyone to take care of his daughter, Yi-na (Heo Yool) . He's brought his daughter to live in the mountains to get both of them some peace and quiet, but why he's done this we don't know yet. We see the young daughter, maybe 10 years old? in the backseat, refusing to look at or talk with him. It's clear by the way he speaks to her in the car that he has no idea how to talk to her. By bitterly complaining to the nanny agency to hurry up, right in front of her, he's giving the impression that he'd rather not have to deal with her. At dinner she plays on her phone and he walks away from the table to take a business call. They get to the new house, and we learn about something terrible that happened to their family a year ago, leaving him with a mental disorder. So really this move to peace and quiet is for him, leaving young Yi-na isolated, lonely and very angry about it.
All of that was learned in the first 15 minutes or so, the rest is a slow build up of crazier and crazier happenings, and murderous ghost children. The real villain, and the makeup you'll see on them, are incredible.
Kim Nam-gil's Shaman character shows up about 30 minutes into the movie, and things get a lot more complicated. He's charming, funny....and oh, so shady. Just like Yi-na's father, we don't know whether to trust him or not. Is he here to do a dance, make some noise, put on a bit of a show and then take the money and run, or is he actually going to help? Dad has nothing to lose, so he hires him, and things get progressively worse for the family.
I won't say anything else, it's a fun and scary horror film, with some good humor in it here and there. The Shaman makes a joke about the Among the Gods movies, and that was fun (Ha Jung-woo stars in those).
If you've seen the old horror movies The Exorcist (1973), Poltergeist (1982) or the newer Dark Water (2002) and The Woman in Black (2012) I thought about all of those, at different points in the movie. In a good way, as The Closet is super creepy, sometimes very scary, and only one or two jump scares. A movie that doesn't have to rely on jump scares is always a good thing. I enjoyed it.
