2024.06.09 21:47 maveric_analytic What's the most f**ked up rap lyrics you've ever heard?

Lyrics that'd make you be like "wah da faq!" and pause the song, slam your phone on the bed and try to process wtf you just listened to... all whilst plunged into an existential questioning of you and the artist's sanity.
Mine:
"I'm sorry Puff but I don't give a fuck, if this chick was my own mother I'd still fuck her with no rubber and..."

2024.06.09 21:42 tomripley12 Mingus

I am eagerly awaiting the (surely) coming Archives release that includes the Mingus era. I know that Mingus gave Joni six tunes (Joni I-VI), but only three appear on the album. Does anyone know why? Did she write lyrics for the other three, but they were ultimately scrapped? I’m guessing not, since the album is so short and includes The Wolf That Lives in Lindsey, which as far as I know had nothing to do with Charles Mingus.
I would love for Mingus’ recordings of Joni I-VI to be a part of the archives release. But in the meantime,
1) Does anyone have any info on the three missing songs? 2) Does anyone have info about the inclusion of the “raps”? I’ve known them as part of the album for so long that I barely give any critical thought to them, but actually some are extremely random. 3) Does anyone know what types of archive materials exists for the album/period?

2024.06.09 21:38 migthebear Is this true?

A rap persona is a concept or idea the rappers portrays under a name and your persona affects the way your flow, rhyme c make beats, etc?
Like if I was a gangsta rapper, I’d have a gangsta flow, beats, lyrics, etc?

2024.06.09 21:06 bleutomato [TOMT] Song (possibly a rap song) with a voice change effect moment with the lyrics "see me now, lord i come to you with love",

The effect, which I think is a pitch shifter, starts high pitched voice a voice singing "see me now, lord i come to you with love" and when they sing "with love" the shifter shifts down until the voice is pitched low. Its kind of a more introspective moment in the song if I recall, and I think its a part of a rap song. Any help appreciated!

2024.06.09 17:21 so-pitted-wabam Lupe Fiasco: The Healer YNW Melly Needs

Alright, let’s get real for a second. YNW Melly is in a world of trouble, but what if I told you there’s one person who could save him? That’s right, Lupe Fiasco. This isn’t just about legal defense; this is about deep, transformative soul healing that only a true lyrical and intellectual genius can bring. 🌟🧠🔥
Melly doesn’t need help with his songwriting – he’s got that locked down. What he needs is soul-level healing, and Lupe is the perfect guide. Lupe’s music is more than just bars; it’s a path to enlightenment. His lyrics are filled with profound insights and truths that cut through the noise of everyday life. YNW Melly needs that kind of clarity, the kind that can only come from someone who’s mastered the art of turning pain and struggle into wisdom and growth.
Imagine Melly sitting down with Lupe, not just for a rap session, but for a deep, soul-searching conversation. Lupe’s words would be like a salve to Melly’s troubled mind, guiding him through the chaos and helping him find a sense of peace and purpose. Lupe’s ability to articulate complex emotions and social issues could help Melly see his own life in a new light, offering him a way out of the darkness.
Lupe’s wisdom goes beyond lyrics. His deep understanding of social justice, personal growth, and inner peace means he could help Melly navigate the emotional and psychological challenges he’s facing. Lupe’s guidance could be the anchor Melly needs to stabilize his life and find true healing.
This isn’t just about surviving; it’s about thriving. With Lupe’s mentorship, Melly could embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing, transforming his pain into strength and his struggles into triumphs. Lupe’s influence would be a powerful force, helping Melly reconnect with his inner self and find a path to genuine happiness and fulfillment.
In the end, it’s about transformation. YNW Melly has the raw talent and potential, but with Lupe’s guidance, he could become something more – a healed soul, a beacon of hope, and an example of how we can all rise above our circumstances. Lupe Fiasco isn’t just a rapper; he’s a healer, a teacher, and the savior YNW Melly desperately needs. 💕✊👁️

2024.06.09 13:44 Free-Yoghurt124 Why do people hate Playboi Carti?

Like i genuinely don’t understand. “Oh because of his ugly voice” 2019-2022 was his so-called “Baby Voice” era, which i really enjoyed. People hate on WLR because of the “random noises” he makes which are FYI called adlibs. Another dumb argument is “He’s a mumble rapper and has no good lyrics” bruh idgaf if he mumbles. I don’t care bout lyrics in a rap song. A rap song could have the greatest lyrics in history but have horrible production and mediocre delivery, i would not listen to it. Thats how i feel about 80s- early 90s rap. Mediocre production and below average sound quality but good “lyrics”. Another dumb argument why people don’t like Carti is “he just screams” maybe because you only saw tiktoks of his concerts and listen to Jumpoutthehouse? People will listen to 5 Carti songs and say he’s trash. What i said earlier about the good lyrics≠ good song, i want to add that i also love lyrical rappers that have good production like Nas, 2pac, 50 Cent, Kendrick, JID, Joey Badass, Eminem, Freddie Gibbs, Denzel etc. Now i already see the uncs in he comments saying “Carti is still trash, expand your music taste” but why should i if i already have a 4879 song rap playlist with a LOT of rappers and almost all subgenres of rap/ hip-hop?

2024.06.09 05:30 Spazattack43 Why do so many of yall care so much about sounding corny?

Literally who cares if something is “corny”. Corny shit is fun. I watch shitty b movies all the time cause theyre stupid corny fun. I love stupid corny rap songs because its fun. Not everything needs to be some serious lyrical genius to be good.

2024.06.09 03:45 black_dynamite79 Kendrick vs. Drake beef (Little light hearted post)

Kendrick vs. Drake beef (Little light hearted post)
https://preview.redd.it/fcmnl8vtbg5d1.jpg?width=620&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cf52f75ae54609341f551f7214962ef331bb49b
I'm gonna be honest I'm an old head, and when this thing started I thought the main battle would be Kendrick vs. J. Cole, that dream ended swiftly but I understand why. This beef has been stewing for some time and I'm not taking a hard stance as I don't really care either way but I have to say I expected more from Kdot. I think I may have expected a Pusha T type victory and did not get that. Personally Kdot doesn't rap as well when he doesn't have time to really prepare the track, this is kind of his weakest music to me, and I'm a fan of Kendrick, I don't listen to Drake. Drake had another gear though that I did not think he had, "Family Matters" to me was absolutely the red button, and I personally don't think any track topped it. "Meet the Grahams" was certainly disrespectful but not a great diss track in my opinion, "Euphoria" was great but suffered from Kdot's delivery which I hate to say it, gets a little boring. All the double/triple entendres does not lend itself to diss track because every fan will not take to time to decipher it. And I know people will say "Not Like Us" is still number one so thats proof Kendrick is dominant and while it is a nice bop, it's not real potent as far as diss tracks go, it's fun, it's light but it says a lot more about Kendrick that he knew Drake was pedophile but only brought it up because he dissed him. Also Drake has a ton of number ones as well, I put neither rapper in my top 10, but unfortunately Drake actually rose lyrically during this beef, and Kdot held his position in my opinion. I know this isn't a popular opinion and I don't really care but I still think this was more about how much the industry disliked Drake, than it was about Kdot's ability to win a beef. I said all that and didn't even bring up, Rick Ross, Metro Boomin, Future or any of the other people that also dissed Drake. It's no hate, I don't really have a horse in the race but disappointing beef for the most part. I personally would advise Kdot to keep it conscientious and not delve into beef, it's not his strong suit. What do you blokes think? Hehehehehe.

2024.06.09 01:30 Rhino_dignitarian White people lip sync rap for social media

Does it feel minstreley, or is it just mildly cringy? Not talking about N-word lyrics, just your basic white lady, or daddy-daughter duo on social media reels and tiktoks, either lip syncing rap, or even just those audio files of obviously black entertainers.

Need Help Finding a Song
There was a youtube song that I SWEAR existed... but I can't find it now. It was a really nice play on Team Rocket.
"You know who it is- Team Rocket Bitch. Get ready for trouble- and make it double..."
The back beat was fast, good bass, lots of synth at the beginning. The male vocalist was rapping the lyrics.
I couldn't find the original artist- this is a screengrab from the original video that I can't find anymore.
The video had the art included.

2024.06.08 22:04 RoyalSoldierx How I feel about every song on 3DBY by Limo Bikizt

  1. Intro - Cool intro
  2. Pollution - Amazing album opener. Probably the best song on the album but the next 2 could be as well. So much energy and a great introduction to the band.
  3. Counterfeit - I’m obsessed with this song! It’s really fun and I like how crazy he gets towards the end. Very unique and I love how they play around at the end of the song too lol.
  4. Stuck - This song is amazing! The freakout is one of their best! Love the playfulness during the bridge and this has his best rapping on the whole album.
  5. Nobody Loves Me - It’s alright. I like the ending with the do do do do do do and the soft playing. The verses are meh to me and chorus doesn’t stand out like the last 3.
  6. Sour - It’s alright. Very different sound from the previous four. I like the sound effects. The chorus is pretty catchy too.
  7. Stalemate if Faith wasn’t on this album this would be my least favorite on the album. It doesn’t move me and gets pretty annoying. I like the intro and when the lyrics kick in it loses me. I can’t stand the chorus.
  8. Clunk - I like it. Really cool and the ending is amazing. I think the rapping is really funny on this song.
  9. Faith - I don’t like it at all. I hate it honestly. I don’t like the original either.
  10. Stereotype Me - Pretty cool. I like how this is a hidden track, I never knew about it until a few months ago actually lol. It’s based of the original bridge from Pollution
  11. Stink Finger - Love this song! One of my favorites on the album! After a lot of songs I didn’t care for this song made the album interesting again! I love the cool guitar effects, very relaxing and the aggression is top tier!
  12. Indigo Flow - I didn’t like it at first but it grew on me. Really cool and experimental. Really fun.
  13. Leech - AWESOME! I hate that it’s so short. This song should be long like the first couple of songs. The gun right before the breakdown was a chefs kiss!
  14. Everything - This song is amazing and one of their best. I love how different it is from most of their songs in general. Very relaxing and I like the vocal effects. Very eerie and no song could ever compare to the creativity this one has. Wish they did more jams like this.
Overall: It was ok. When it was good it was really good. When it was bad it was really bad. 7/10

2024.06.08 20:55 YardNo7056 [TOMT] I heard a song in a video and now I can’t find it

Hi!!! So I don’t know if these are the EXACT lyrics, however these are the words I could conjure up in my brain
“It’s not just a game, you take all my pain and turn it into… underneath the waves”
Details: The “..” means I don’t know what they said during that moment. The girl is singing that verse and then after that there is a guy singing something, he sounds like he’s maybe rapping? the girl seems to have a soft voice when she sings, the guy has a deeper voice.
It’s not something better by Blanca.
Help 😭🙏!!!

Name 5 songs, preferably well known that are in a different qenre than they are known for.
  1. I Was Made For Loving You. Kiss. This is a disco song, not a hard rock song.
  2. Last Caress, misfits. This is a do whop song with very rude and crude lyrics.
  3. I'm the Man, Anthrax. This is a rap song.
  4. Beth, Kiss. This is a pop ballad.
  5. Texas Holdem, Beyonce. This is a pure hip hop/r n b song done with country instruments.

2024.06.08 19:51 AdggerGG Is the way we listen to music related to what kind of persons we relate with? Example in post description 🔽

I just saw a TikTok video from a girl who claims to be a "beat girl" and not a "lyrics girl" when it comes to music. So I was wondering that, usually, that kind of girls relate with sexists men who unfortunately ends beating up that kind of girls. And I think that the "beat girls" tends to relate with men that beat them up and "lyric girls" tends to be with that listens to them instead.
I'm not trying to be pretentious here claming that lyrics persons listen to classic music or "high IQ lyrics", is just that things that reggaeton or bad rap music that only talks about "money, bitches and killing" are mostly listened by people that doesn't hear at all and the only thing they tend do is what their instincts says to them.
