WIBTA if I don’t attend my sisters wedding in just over 3 weeks? I have been debating these feelings for a while as I feel I have more been invited out of politeness rather than her actually wanting me there. Our sistership slightly improved over the next few months. Or so I thought. While her cousin, mum, friends literally the female Immediate family of sisters fiancé, have all been involved in the wedding in some way or another, dress shopping, planning etc. But guess who wasn’t invited to any of it at all. The next thing was she tried uninviting my son, as they wanted to make the wedding child free, so asked me if I could not bring my son, but then said certain other family were allowed to bring there children ( one is a similar age to my son so age is not a factor here). Then just last week, we were on the phone and out of nowhere she tells me that the only reason I wasn’t invited to the bachelorette( took place last weekend) was because as the party was abroad, she didn’t want me to have the stress of finding a babysitter. Although I feel like that should have been my decision to make, I didn’t say anything. Come to find out, it wasn’t abroad, it wasn’t too far from where we live. I don’t know why I’m taking this so personally, but I just feels like a kick in the face because after everything we’ve eve been through and ( I hate this saying so much but there’s no other way to put it) everything I’ve done for her, how can she treat me like this?? I literally don’t understand, and seeing everyone say how nice it was to meet everyone made me realise that I’m going to go to my sisters wedding, ive been excluded from everything and I don’t really know anyone there, I can’t get past how embarrassing it is going to be for me at the wedding when I just pop up out of nowhere. Also I just feel that my sister really does just genuinely dislike me that much now why the f am I wasting my money and time on outfits,travel etc. I would just rather not go, as much as i know my sister will kick right off if I don’t, I can’t just let myself take over 3 years of disrespect, but I need to make a decision, the wedding is in less than a month. I’m so sorry for the long post but this is really the shortened version x Edit: forgot to mention I haven’t actually received a formal invitation, apparently no one has, it’s just all been verbal, and the details of the ceremony have only recently been confirmed with me.

So, it's just an educated calculation on my part that the Philippine property prices are going to tank within the next 10 years for the following reasons:

1. Unreasonable increase in property values over the past 10 years (ie, it's a bubble). Property prices in the NCR have gone up way higher than wages and other forms of investment.
   
2. Rent vs buying prices show that from an investment perspective, it's cheaper to rent upmarket condo units and homes. If you look at condo and luxury home rentals and sales (I looked at Makati/AAV), you'll see that renting makes way more sense. In AAV, homes that are selling for P120-270 million are renting for only P130-250K. When you factor in maintenance fees, RE fees, reasonable periods of vacancy, etc the CAP rate is sometimes below 1%.
   
3. Many units in BCG and other areas are sold, but units are empty. At night you'll notice the lights are off in many of the higher end residential units, which leads me to believe that they are being bought but not used (ie being held purely for speculation--could be OFW, locals with multiple units, etc).
   
4. The slow demise of call centers and outsourcing: with a) AI as a threat, b) young Chinese and Indians who are learning American English and will be entering the workforce in the next few years becoming competition, c) younger western consumers preferring not to speak with a live customer service or tech agent (it's the boomers--who are dying off slowly--who want to talk to someone "live") etc, the services of locals won't be needed as much.
   
5. The prevalence of WFH: many industries will slowly shift from office based work to WFH, lessening the demand for office space (along with number 4, above).
   
6. Investors growing knowledge base re stocks and other forms of investments. Older investors are not as savvy as younger investors; OFWs and other older investors had no other choice (to them) other than RE. They were not aware of ETFs and stock and the benefits of dividend income, etc.

My partner and I (lesbians) got engaged last year and are getting married this November! I told my parents, brother, and any family members accepting of my sexuality the good news. My dad was pretty upfront that he wasn’t coming and I don’t really know why, but it also didn’t come as a surprise. We’ve never been that close. My mom is an addict who cannot afford to come, and the cost is also too much for my brother and his family. SO SORRY FOR THIS ONE. IT IS VERY LONG!!! <3
I am a little worried and would love some help/advise on how to control my emotions around some situations, or if i might be over reacting. My MIL to be can be rather overbearing and has an issue accepting boundaries. Over the past several months I have noticed that my MIL can be somewhat overly mothering and emotionally manipulative. She also seems to try to target me whenever my finance is not around, and when it is just me and her. i.e. She had a tantrum when I told her that she could not join us on a walk which my fiance and I wanted to do as a couple AS A DATE DAY. My fiance later tried to have a conversation with her about this and she described it as just being playful...
She also refers to my fiance, his two brothers, their partners and myself (as a collective) as children "Do you think the children will like this" or she will talk to my FIL in front of us as "The children..." - Bare in mind I am 30 in November - My own parents never categorize me as a child so I am somewhat shocked that she does this - All of the "so called Children" in my fiances family are 23 and over. At first I thought this was a term of endearment that she was just too used to saying, but after my fiance had a conversation with her about this asking her to stop saying this in reference to me, as it was making me extremely uncomfortable, I was asked so many questions as to why I didn't like it. I advised that I found it belittling and patronising as my own parents don't refer to me and my siblings in that way. And also that I was nearly 30 now and I find it a little offensive (I have my own house and worked hard for it, I have two degrees which again I worked hard for, and I have been through a lot in my life, I stopped being a 'child' a very long time ago)- I know that this could be me overreacting a little bit, but this is whole new territory for me as I have never been referred to as a 'child' in my adult life, not even by my own parents who refer to me either by my name, or as their eldest daughter.
I am sorry if anyone else has the same situation and is okay with it, but it just makes me uncomfortable. When I was explaining about how I was feeling she was smiling the entire time but looked so confused at the same time, as she couldn't understand why I felt the way I did. And she continues to use the word Children to describe me and my fiance. Even my FIL has told her to stop it, but she doesn't seem to understand or pay attention to it.
The big red flag for me was this: The other day my partner and I went to see his parents for a visit. He was in the garden in deep conversation with his dad, and I was talking to his mother in the dining area, the conversation was quite lovely at first... Until she started talking about buying fabric from a well know UK fabric and craft store to make some elegant dresses. She had a lovely royal blue material which she was showing me and advised that the both of us should go on a trip to the store together, as she really wanted to by the same type of fabric, but in emerald, green (WAIT FOR IT). She was going on about dresses and weddings, and my gut instantly knew where this was going. A few moments later, she says, “I would really love to make a nice dress in blue for *bother-in-laws wedding*” and then proceeded to say, “... and I would like to make something in the emerald green for your (and my fiancés) wedding” - HELL TO THE FRICKING NO!!! Please note, me and my fiancé got engaged in September of last year, and I happily told MIL and my fiancés family that I was not the conventional sort of gal, I never wanted to wear just white, or white at all. I showed them all, numerous times, the picture from my Pinterest board, of what I hoped my wedding dress would be or at least look like. And guess what colour that dress was and the colour I have wanted my dress to be ever since I can remember… IT’S EMERALD GREEN... I created my Wedding Planning Pinterest board in 2015 and I have always wanted to wear Green.
This conversation literally hit me to the point where I was either going to cry or blow up - Due to the share fact that she was so adamant that she wanted to wear the same colour as me, but also that she did this when it was just me and her in the room and no one else was around to hear it. Somehow, I just managed to keep my cool and I simply said, "NO. I am sorry, but you are not wearing the same-coloured dress as me on my wedding day. Absolutely not. And I am not meaning to sound like a bridezilla in any way here, but that is a very specific colour that I have had picked out in my mind for a long time now. No, please don't wear that colour, anything but emerald green" She seemed shocked at first, and then joked it off saying, “Well I don't have to wear emerald, green (DAMN RIGHT). I will wear blue or something.” And then she made a joke about the fact of me saying "on my wedding day" like "OOO MY WEDDING... OOO IT'S MY WEDDING DAY" . I didn't have the energy to question this so i just had to laugh it off. I later told my fiance about this and he was frustrated at the situation, and advised that she will not be wearing the same colour as me on our big day. It worried me that she does things like this when it is just me and her, sometimes it is very minor things, but they are noticeably overbearing and manipulative in my eyes.
She still treats my fiance like he is a teenager, and tried to do the same thing with me, like "oh let me clean you glasses for you" and "take a coat with you its cold" (I am always hot to the point I overheat, she is aware of this), "here you go let me do that for you" These are just examples, but she acts as though we cannot do things for ourselves at times, and her way is the best way. I have been very independent since I was 18 years old (and younger tbh - but 18 is when I moved out by myself etc) . So it is hard for me to see this as anything but patronising.
Do you think I am overacting or is it normal for me to feel uncomfortable? Any advise on how to tackle these issues would be really helpful. I have spoken to my mum and sister about this, and they are very hurt by the way I am feeling at the moment. I just wondered if this is how other people would also feel, or if anyone else is or has been through the same.

My dad asked me in september to go to a family gathering for the weekend of the 18th of may. I said yes of course, it's a 3 day weekend so let's do it.
Except that until last week he would'nt talk to me or exchange infos about the wedding unless I asked. Last month I tried to bring it up and he just brushed off all of my concerns.
Once i asked him in the family group chat (mom, dad, sister (18yo), brother (16yo) and me) " hey do you have the invite for the wedding that takes place in your family ?". He then when on a rant about me saying "your family" and that it was a bad thing that I was not saying in "my family". But the reason I said so is because my mom was in the group. So it makes sense to specify which part of the family I'm talking about.
The wedding is this weekend. He hasn't given me any details about when we are leaving, what is the theme and what I should wear, who will be there (my sister is on holidays with friends and my brother told me he might come but dad is unsure ???), how long it will take to go there (we're driving but I don't know for how long). He just told me "I'm picking you on Saturday, be ready". I don't even know when he is picking me on Saturday.
Until last week, he still hadn' t decided for his accomodation and he didn't know where I'd be staying (with him or with family members). So I had to give him options.
The thing that pisses me off the most, is that he was given the invite in september. And my mom saw it on the table last week. Yet he refuses to give me any details when I ask about it.

I (19M) met my best friend (19F) about 4 years ago during the end of my Freshman Year in High School. In that time, she was dating someone and I was dating someone and eventually, both of our relationships went to crap because of very immature reasons that were common with kids our age. I was afraid to be alone after my break up so I ended up getting closer to her and it got to the point where we began to talk every single day, and that streak hasn’t ended since. I had a feeling about her even during that time but went on to enter a situation-ship that turned into an actual relationship for about a month until that too ended unceremoniously. She was there for all of it and even gave me the confidence to end the relationship with my ex after my ex said that I “wasn’t a priority,” something I’ll never forget. That line hurt like hell after putting so much energy into caring for her.
My second ex, the situation-ship one, would joke around with my feelings afterward and try to talk to me months after our breakup. For context, I told her never to speak to me again after she claimed she loved me then went on to date another guy as reported by my best friend. So this behavior was very detrimental to my mental health and made things a lot worse for me. My best friend however, protected and defended me from her actions. My ex let it slip that she was afraid for my bff to find out we were talking because she had scolded her before.
Eventually, that ended and up until this point, my bff was someone who was scarily similar to me and sorta brought me out of my shell. I changed a lot of my “loner” ways for her and would walk to class with her, not even speaking sometimes, just enjoying her presence. We’d have these little moments between each other and got mistaken for a couple a few times too. She had an affinity towards me but it was nothing romantic.
Fast forward to last year and I’m starting to take notice of some strange feelings for her and through subtle prodding, it was still clear she wasn’t into me in that way. There’d be little clues of something brewing within her heart but not enough to act.
Now this is where it gets interesting. 2024 has probably been our best year yet and the crazy part is that we haven’t seen each other in-person since our mutual friend’s graduation party which was last year. We have plans to travel across the world, live in some apartment together, own a dog together, dress up for halloween as Agnes and Kristofferson from Fantastic Mr. Fox, and a bunch more like me cooking for her and us doing each other’s hair. We text and talk to each other like we’ve been married for 20 years. She’ll tell me when something’s wrong and never takes out her frustration on me, called me when she was having cramps and stuff, will occasionally take some photos of herself for me.
The photos of her is where I find myself realizing how deep I’ve fallen because this woman is just gorgeous. I legitimately can’t see myself with anybody else but her. Her smile, her hair, her cute glasses, and her entire body is simply STUNNING. Don’t even get me started on personality because that’s what has me so starstruck. I was looking at her photos tonight and man, I wonder how I lived without her for 15 years…
I never run out of things to talk about with her and unlike the past few years, all of her plans seem to include me in them. Driving together, napping together, just being around each other always. I mentioned her being my partner a few times and she gladly accepted that title. I EVEN KNOW WHAT WEDDING RING SHE WANTS. It’s not the look that matters but the engraving, which is the timestamp for Harry’s love confession to Sally in “When Harry Met Sally.”
My relationship/friendship with her is completely unlike the ones where I was actively dating them, I am so completely invested in her life and what’s she doing and what she likes. It’s borderline obsession with loving every aspect of her and the world she sees. My friends are always talking about flirting with girls and all that but as long as my best friend exists, I feel as though I’m taken.
And I know some people would question why I haven’t confessed and that’s because I’m waiting until I can see her face-to-face and know for sure if she loves me back in that way. We say I love you quite a bit but with everything going on between us, I have a feeling that I’ll get my true answer by getting to look into her eyes again. Part of me thinks I’m dreaming all this up and that she truly does see us as just friends but there’s too many coincidences for me to ignore it. We’re too close, I believe. That line hurt like hell after putting so much energy into caring for her.
My second ex, the situation-ship one, would joke around with my feelings afterward and try to talk to me months after our breakup. For context, I told her never to speak to me again after she claimed she loved me then went on to date another guy as reported by my best friend. So this behavior was very detrimental to my mental health and made things a lot worse for me. My best friend however, protected and defended me from her actions. My ex let it slip that she was afraid for my bff to find out we were talking because she had scolded her before.
Eventually, that ended and up until this point, my bff was someone who was scarily similar to me and sorta brought me out of my shell. I changed a lot of my “loner” ways for her and would walk to class with her, not even speaking sometimes, just enjoying her presence. We’d have these little moments between each other and got mistaken for a couple a few times too. She had an affinity towards me but it was nothing romantic.
Fast forward to last year and I’m starting to take notice of some strange feelings for her and through subtle prodding, it was still clear she wasn’t into me in that way. There’d be little clues of something brewing within her heart but not enough to act.
Now this is where it gets interesting. 2024 has probably been our best year yet and the crazy part is that we haven’t seen each other in-person since our mutual friend’s graduation party which was last year. We have plans to travel across the world, live in some apartment together, own a dog together, dress up for halloween as Agnes and Kristofferson from Fantastic Mr. Fox, and a bunch more like me cooking for her and us doing each other’s hair. We text and talk to each other like we’ve been married for 20 years. She’ll tell me when something’s wrong and never takes out her frustration on me, called me when she was having cramps and stuff, will occasionally take some photos of herself for me.
The photos of her is where I find myself realizing how deep I’ve fallen because this woman is just gorgeous. I legitimately can’t see myself with anybody else but her. Her smile, her hair, her cute glasses, and her entire body is simply STUNNING. Don’t even get me started on personality because that’s what has me so starstruck. I was looking at her photos tonight and man, I wonder how I lived without her for 15 years…
I never run out of things to talk about with her and unlike the past few years, all of her plans seem to include me in them. Driving together, napping together, just being around each other always. I mentioned her being my partner a few times and she gladly accepted that title. I EVEN KNOW WHAT WEDDING RING SHE WANTS. It’s not the look that matters but the engraving, which is the timestamp for Harry’s love confession to Sally in “When Harry Met Sally.”
My relationship/friendship with her is completely unlike the ones where I was actively dating them, I am so completely invested in her life and what’s she doing and what she likes. It’s borderline obsession with loving every aspect of her and the world she sees. My friends are always talking about flirting with girls and all that but as long as my best friend exists, I feel as though I’m taken.
And I know some people would question why I haven’t confessed and that’s because I’m waiting until I can see her face-to-face and know for sure if she loves me back in that way. We say I love you quite a bit but with everything going on between us, I have a feeling that I’ll get my true answer by getting to look into her eyes again. Part of me thinks I’m dreaming all this up and that she truly does see us as just friends but there’s too many coincidences for me to ignore it. We’re too close, I believe. Too close for either of us to enter a relationship with someone else, at least.

TL;DR this girl is literal perfection and loves me to bits but I can’t read her mind on if the feelings are romantic. Am I crazy on thinking so from how close she is to me?

TDLR: Ended up spending everything on a lemon, how do I make myself ok with this?
Also, I want to note that I fully understand that this is a privileged problem to have, with so many currently homeless or in the rental crisis.
In 2020 my partner and I built our first house. We were both low income with a dependent so we couldn't afford to build much. We went with a small bit of land in a very cheap suburb. We built our first house on a tight budget. I designed the floor plan, together we picked the finish. It was beautiful. Sadly though the backyard was too small, we couldn't sleep for traffic noise and we had an abusive neighbour. We decided to sell and walked away debt free (including personal loans etc) and over 100k profit, this was the start of the property boom.
Moved into a rental and planned to build a bigger house now finances were a bit better without the debt. Partner bought his dream car but we were left with enough for a build deposit. We purchased rural land and designed an amazing house. Due to job changes though the distance became an issue and we had to sell prior to building as it wasn't feasible. Luck was on our side again though and we made 10k profit from the land.
We planned to build local and purchased land. This is when building prices sky rocketed though and we were struggling to get what we wanted in budget. We also discovered my child needed access to swimming for therapy. Being in a rental the blow up swimming pool was not allowed and was about to cause us huge issues.
We found a house for sale that was large. On 700m2, had a beautiful pool and spa. It was listed for $599,000 to $630,000. The market was extremely competitive, and from previous experience when we sold our first house we went in with our best offer subject to building inspection. We offered $650,000 and had $30,000 left over for house improvements, we planned to heat the pool for our daughter etc. We got the building inspection and that came back with no defects and that the property was in good condition.
We moved In and everything went to hell from there. Turns out the flooring was a DIY and the grout was never sealed or whatever so our feet were constantly black. Even now 6 months later with constant cleaning the tiles always look dirty. We didn't realise things like linen cupboards were gutted. The spa does not work and needs to be chucked (bubbles work but doesn't heat and shorts out)the pool needed massive repairs (all this was meant to be checked by the specialised building inspector) the roof needs 20k of work, there's a leak behind the wall in the bathroom, the electrical work was a DIY job and a safety hazard, it's just endless issues.
Obviously our money quickly went to fixing the safety issues with nothing to spare and nothing to show for it. We can't heat the pool for my daughter so that can only be used in the height of summer. The spa was the back up plan for the dead of winter but that doesn't work and is so old would cost too much to fix. We don't even have access to a bath as she needs me in with her for regulation and it's so small I literally don't fit, I'm now squeezing in everynight and dealing with bad leg cramps each day. We knew the bath was small but figured the spa would be a happy replacement for water regulation. The floors have to be washed twice a day and are doing my head in. Can't fix any of the cosmetic issues like we'd planned.
I'm so angry and disappointed with myself for making the decision to buy this house but also not listening to my intuition. When we inspected the house privately the owners were walking out the front, and the female owner gave me a look and my intuition screamed don't buy, we fell in love though so I ignored it. I'm extremely angry at the building inspector who missed everything, we would not have bought this house with even one major defect since we had such limited liquid funds. I'm angry with my partner because he is not open to selling it and moving on, he wants to settle which I get, he hates moving as does my child, but it will be a very long time before this house has enough equity for any renovations.
How do I deal with the fact I was handed this golden opportunity to have a really nice house for my child and I blew it on this? How do I accept that I should have gotten two building inspections?
