My kids go to an online charter school and they love it. There's a lot of reasons we do that - mainly that the schools here are horrible, unsafe and the only private one is a catholic school with quite the history.
We get them out a lot! They're in piano, community ed sports in the summer, summer camps, etc. We go to the library all the time and the parks.
They make friends quick at the park, camp, sports or wherever they are and I sometimes can get parents numbers but nothing ever pans out. I go WAY outside my comfort zone and try to text parents to plan meetups but it's either only me planning it or they just don't have availibility to meet up.
How do I find/help my kids make friends outside of school? Parents seem so uninterested and I feel horrible that they don't have friends to hang out with.

The sizes range from 2-6oz. Beautifully designed waterproof labels. The box was very well packaged with foam peanuts to protect the contents and the utterly stunning glass slime jars had nice honeycomb cardboard protectors around them. Even the charms were beautifully packaged with one being in a little canvas bag. Included was a mini lemon hand towelette (what a great touch!) a card telling me my packaging is eco friendly (lovely to know) and a cute bookmark care card with a super sweet note on it. Upon unpacking, I found that Eliora (the head librarian 😁) had including an incredibly thoughtful gift in the way of delicious, high quality chocolate from a little company that shares my name! In the note it was mentioned that this was especially ordered just for me on account of being the first international customer 🥲 I was so deeply touched by this! It says a lot about the customer service and just how much care is put into customer satisfaction and enjoyment. The library/book aesthetic of the entire web-store and the slimes/jars is just spectacular. I have so much appreciation for slime stores who clearly put so much thought and love into everything they do, it really is a magical experience. One thing I love about slime is how it affords us the ability to turn our thoughts off and indulge in something that taps straight into our primal pleasure center, allowing us to leave the stresses and responsibilities of the world for a while. The library theme and how beautifully it’s all pulled off ramps that experience up for me. All I’ve done so far is open the box and I already feel like I’ve taken a trip to a whimsical bookstore in some Harry Potter-esq universe! 😆 I think they may also be the only slime store to use glass jars which makes them feel very high end.
I was worried I may have a struggle getting this slime out the jar but it slipped out into my hand nice and politely. It was a tiny bit sticky at first but a couple of puffs of activator sorted that out completely. The slime was very dense and super stretchy. It was very resistant but also very elastic and bouncy with no ripping. As you stretched you could feel the sand brush across your fingers but there was very little in the way of sand fallout. This has some unreal crackly sizzles when you inflate and then squeeze it. The crackles just keep coming and coming the more you squeeze. It does inflate a lot calling for a second jar for the excess. The packaging is stunning and, equally, so is the slime!

The essential oil scents were some of the classiest and most nuanced I have experienced, the textures are super entertaining, interesting and well made. I absolutely adored the clay potatoes which were mind bendingly realistic! The mini book charms are an amazing touch. This store really blurs the lines between art and sensory product. I have a love/hate relationship with the glass jars. On one hand they are very beautiful and make the product feel so special, it wasn’t hard to get the slime out of them in the least. On the other it is harder to get the slime back in the jar. I was having issues with air pockets and the narrower mouths. Of course it inflated a fair bit so usually I just put them in new jars of my own but I loved the aesthetic of the library jars and really wanted to get some slime back in there. I very tied because I wouldn’t want the library to swap to plastic but the glass does make things tricky. All in all I can’t wait to see what's in the next restock and had SO much fun visiting the library's beautiful and profoundly whimsical little world! We are always seeking for a new and novel experience when it comes to slime and this provides just that! 9.9/10 ............... Pink Sugar Slimey £11-13 for 7oz. Came very well packaged in super cute pink heart and white foam chips. Included is little organza bag with care card, activator and delicious lychee hard candy. The labels are not waterproof.

Clearly, a lot of love and attention go into these slimes. Personally I found them to be a little on the loose side and a bit tricky to activate. It can be hard to ascertain whether this is by design or due to the warmer weather now we have hit the summer months. I always go for the fastest international shipping to minimise issues with melting and the slimes go in the fridge for 15-30 minutes prior to play. I am very much on board with Momo, Pilot, OG and others who slightly overactive their slime to avoid this. While I enjoy the odd jiggly slay, I prefer my slimes to be on the more holdable side so this is something I will keep in mind in future with Pink Sugar. Nonetheless these scents were spectacular and the thicker textures lovely! Waterproof labels would be a strong preference of mine, I did manage to get slime on one or two of these labels while photographing and that is always a real shame. 9.1/10 ...... Oh My Slime (Singapore) Came with borax, a care card and a couple of candies. Slimes come in 6 or 8oz for between around $10-14. The jars have anti leak inner caps which is a great shout. I hate opening the box to discover slime leaks and this keeps things so much tidier! The labels are nicely designed and waterproof.

It would have been less disappointing if the quality of the slimes was low and the scents/aesthetics mediocre. I would have understood if all the slimes were all the way in one direction or the other activation-wise but it was super weird to get one perfect slime (water slime no less, a typically temperamental texture) and the rest either totally deactivated or wildly over-activated to the point of being unstretchable. In light of this I am really scratching my head over giving Oh My Slime a rating that fairly represents their concoctions. I just got done reactivating slimes that arrived with me in a liquid state and it took a good 12 hours for them to settle into the consistency I like. Personally hate touching totally melted slime, it really gives me the ick which is amongst the many reasons why I have no wish to make my own slime. I keep my slime in a chiller so this is not typically an issue I commonly have as I go in with activator long before they turn back to glue. I would reactivate some of my favourites if they melted down slightly over time but I just lost heart for these sadly. I hear from a friend that their slays and clays are much better. On this occasion 6/10 on account of the great water slime and all the other redeemable factors such as jars/designs/excellent scents but I only had one slime I could play with out of the whole batch so I don’t think I will return with any enthisiasm. MAYBE for another thick water slime. ............ Lime Slimes Company Comes with care card and Borax. Waterproof labels with a lovely aesthetic. The jars are 8oz and priced from £12.15 to £15.39. I don’t much like judging a slime that I have reconstituted nearly from scratch as it’s hard to know if it’s as the creator intended. That having been said, it is a very nice, creamy thickie with medium gloss. Lovely to pop and full of crackles. It has tiny bits of red flocking in it for a very pretty strawberry pulp effect. Top left is how it arrived. Top right is where I managed to get it to with activator (still sticky by rippy.) Bottom left is after it rested overnight. Much better but still not quite as great as my previous Oui which I bought a month ago (an up to date picture of that on the bottom right.) I am so tied over Lime Slimes. I love their scents and themes and when they are good they are great. However, this is not the first completely liquified slime I have received from them and it very much spoils the experience for me. Reading your reviews on this sub I see that I am not alone in having this issue with them but it seems to be quite hit and miss. I know they come from California so I would hazard a guess that the issue happens during shipping due to the heat, I doubt these left them in this condition. I always pay for the fastest international shipping to prevent this issue occurring and most slimes arrive with me in 2-4 days. The only completely melted US slimes I have received have been from Lime Slimes, I’ve never had anything more than a slightly tacky surface that calls for a squirt of activator from other US companies. Once again, I can only reiterate how much I appreciate it when a slime leaves a store a little over-activated! I hate rating slimes which are melted as it’s not really a representation of what the creator intended. I do love Lime's Oui line when not melted and may chance buying another one if a particularly interesting scent is released when mine dies but, ultimately, I won’t be returning to Lime Slimes Co. with any gusto, which is a real shame. I really feel drawn to them as I really love the themes, presentation, aesthetic and scents generally. However, it’s a very important factor to me that I receive my slimes in a play-ready condition as I hate having to reactivate them (to a texture that may not be quite right) and the feeling of sticky mess on my hands 6.5/10 ......... Been at chipotle since last fall working part time. I trained for a few weeks at a store in our town and then moved to a new store and worked there for a few months. I just moved to Colorado (the origin of chipotle) and started at a store that’s about the same age as my last one and set up basically identically.
I really like the people but there’s some things they do differently that I just find irritating.
-They don’t use ice baths— ever. They say they do but I’ve done prep four days now and they don’t use them because “the food cools quick enough in the walk in”
-They have us cut and pan two bags of cilantro in one shallow 1/3 pan. To make it all fit they basically chop the absolute fuck out of it and it looks bruised and slimy by the time it’s done. Then they use leftovers the next day. My old store would have taken us off prep for making it look old and wet when freshly cut.
-guacamole doesn’t get split into 3 pans, but 2. It’s then put into a cooler, not an ice bath. My manager assured me “it gets to temp.” But I’ve never seen them temp anything.
I just came to rant because I thought the standards would be higher at Colorado stores, not lower. But I’m told by a few of my managers that multiple stores around here operate this way so idk.

I open my door heading to your room knocking on the door heavy and loud knowing you are still asleep "Hey we have to talk, you never paid this month's rent. This prompt is based on a anime called Code Geass. My character will be blessed with the power of the geass but in different ways. He can activate it with by his words or he can invade your mind and place what he wants into you mind to make you do it. Now what I do with this power is completely up to us.
Prompt 5- I took the lockbox out from underneath my bed. I had no clue what it said it was obviously from out of this world. I opened the box and inside was a chemistry setup of some sorts used to mix together different injections. It had a few recipes inside and the ingredients seemed to be infinite. It had four injections inside originally and when I used it on one of my friends by accident I was surprised that they listened to anything I said. I was slowly starting to decipher the clearly alien language and learned that the injections currently inside were syrumes that injected nanites into the person's body and the injector could control them in any way. Look at the other recipes the names were suggesting different things such as body altercations, a simple syrume making a person act like a chosen animal to even one that cause a instant but painful death. I sighed as I took out one of the syrumes that let me control someone and then put it in my pocket as I got ready to leave for my boring nine to five job
This roleplay is different from above but I want my character to find a alien chemistry mixing station of sorts. It allows me to make all types of syrumes that could alter my life in wonderful ways and others in wonderful ways If I chose or horrible ways if I chose that instead.
Prompt 6- This is a very different prompt. I was in a one on one gm style roleplay a while back and she is still very busy now so she can't roleplay as much. However I loved it and am looking for someone to start a new one with
So, the roleplay would be based on the webcomic/webnovel and now anime solo leveling. However, my character would be awakened as nothing like any other. I would be awakened with the class/job of fuckboy or something similar. Then I would go through the world trying to make my class works. I'd get skills based around manipulating and fucking women to help me in dungeons and out of dungeons.

This prompt is based on a anime called Code Geass. My character will be blessed with the power of the geass but in different ways. He can activate it with by his words or he can invade your mind and place what he wants into you mind to make you do it. Now what I do with this power is completely up to us.
Prompt 5- I took the lockbox out from underneath my bed. I had no clue what it said it was obviously from out of this world. I opened the box and inside was a chemistry setup of some sorts used to mix together different injections. It had a few recipes inside and the ingredients seemed to be infinite. It had four injections inside originally and when I used it on one of my friends by accident I was surprised that they listened to anything I said. I was slowly starting to decipher the clearly alien language and learned that the injections currently inside were syrumes that injected nanites into the person's body and the injector could control them in any way. Look at the other recipes the names were suggesting different things such as body altercations, a simple syrume making a person act like a chosen animal to even one that cause a instant but painful death. I sighed as I took out one of the syrumes that let me control someone and then put it in my pocket as I got ready to leave for my boring nine to five job
This roleplay is different from above but I want my character to find a alien chemistry mixing station of sorts. It allows me to make all types of syrumes that could alter my life in wonderful ways and others in wonderful ways If I chose or horrible ways if I chose that instead.
Prompt 6- This is a very different prompt. I was in a one on one gm style roleplay a while back and she is still very busy now so she can't roleplay as much. However I loved it and am looking for someone to start a new one with
So, the roleplay would be based on the webcomic/webnovel and now anime solo leveling. However, my character would be awakened as nothing like any other. I would be awakened with the class/job of fuckboy or something similar. Then I would go through the world trying to make my class works. I'd get skills based around manipulating and fucking women to help me in dungeons and out of dungeons.

In between sweat-pouring strokes he gazes at the night sky, dreaming that some day the Russian people will have basic freedoms like freedom of the press and the right to vote.

While tiktok may be full of charmingly amusing ADHD brains that are adorably forgetful, most of us know that's...not how that works. Many of us have stories, putting milk in the cupboard and our cell phones in the fridge, remembering to send birthday cards late because 6/7 and 7/6 are the same date. But many of us also have the not-cute stories too, where our working-memory deficit put ourselves, our families, or total strangers in actual danger.
I've struggled to figure out why the smoke alarm was going off, only to realize I got in the shower after I put a pan of oil on the stove. I forgot so hard I literally couldn't figure out where the smoke was coming from. Live candles? I will absolutely go to bed, or outright leave the house while they burn.
So what do you do to keep yourself and others safe when you realize this level of forgetfulness exists in your brain? We all know "just try and remember harder" doesn't work after all.
For one, it takes being ruthlessly honest with yourself internally. "I am not able to consistently remember that I have turned the stove burners on" doesn't feel real good to admit, but once you can give it a face, you can make a plan.
Once you have it, you look for ways to make it physically impossible, if you can. That might mean not cooking on the stovetop unless someone else is home, or take the knobs off the stove. I only cooked in the microwave for awhile, and have taken the stove knobs to work with me so I knew they were off.
Can't remember to unplug the curler? Take it to work. It's ok to be weird to keep yourself safe.. You do not have to justify your safety to a single human being. Can't remember to extinguish candles? Battery-operated ones look way better these days.
The garage door open when you run errands? Technology can help there, autolocking deadbolts, remote garage closing apps. Medication refills? Set that on auto-refill/ship if possible. Risking OD when you forget you took something? Look for med containers with time-reporting features.
Some of this advice sucks. I love candles. But I can't use them safely...so I don't have them. Can't remember to not boil the stove kettle dry? Then you need an electric one with an auto-shutoff. Make the risk irrelevant where possible. Get power plugs that operate on a timer or power strips that disconnect idle devices too.
Anyone else have creative ways to protect themselves to share?

For some reason I've not seen anyone else talk about this or I've somehow missed it.
With the complexity of the ARG puzzles pre-release and how some of the more complex puzzles that have been found in the game, one thing has still been tossing around in my head. (Spoilers abound, click at your own risk.)
The skull room, near the end of the game is a puzzle, right? Separate from the no death run. I found it weird that the skull count stops at a specific point for everyone (exactly 100 skulls) and that all of the skulls face in various directions, with no pattern, other than it being the same for everyone. While the columns are of various lengths, not making a simple staircase to the above chest, when completed. These things raised my suspicions of there being more to it.
I had just watched videos covering Billy Basso's puzzles for ARG, pre-release. It involved QR codes, nonograms, ciphers, etc.So, I didn't think it would be too outside of the norm, considering>! the depth some of his puzzles have gone to in the past.!<
So I sought out to see if it could be a puzzle of some sort, beyond the known no death challenge. Prize theory: Perhaps a way to get into the chest area on the left via flute code, without a no death run? A message of some kind? Something not yet known? Or should I just take off my tinfoil hat and touch grass? Detailed conspiracy theories in the comments below!
1) First theory: I thought at first it could be a clue for a flute song. Left facing, right facing, and center facing skulls of various number per column/row. Reasoning: No skull exceeds 8 in total per column, thus making it possible that it fits within the 8 note limitation of the flute. However, the only two skull types are consistently in every column; forward and right facing.
Findings 1: 7,2,3,3,3,2,5,2,3,1,4,2 would be the corresponding flute code for right facing. Most flute codes are only 8 notes, but this would be 12.
Findings 2: 4,4,7,3,2,5,2,4,4,3,2,5 would be the corresponding flute code for center facing, but this would again be 12.
Findings 3: I thought perhaps the gaps remaining above the columns could also be intentional. If you assume the skull area is meant to be 12x12, then the amount of gap spacing left on top of each columns would equal 1,5,2,4,4,3,4,3,4,6,4,4 which is again would be a 12 note flute code, if it was anything at all. Results: So far, nothing does anything.
Explanation of findings: On game guide websites and within the game it is alluded to that the flute codes are not just directions, but can correlate to numbers. Right being 1, right down being 2, etc, going clockwise until you get to 8.

I thought perhaps it could be a clue for a QR code.!< Reasoning: Manipulating a screenshot of the full skulls configuration to only fill in skulls of various directions as squares, to see if it worked as a functioning QR code, the resemblance seemed to be extremely close. Findings: I tried various methods of using only one set of skull squares, but then also combining them in various ways for micro QR codes, as well as other various options that sort of fit with the dimensions of the skull squares provided. I played around with overlaying the configurations in photoshop. Results:Nothing worked. Nothing fit perfectly, as there was either overlap or not enough squares.
3) Third theory: I thought maybe it was a nonogram. Since right and left are different than center, I focused on center facing skulls. Reasoning I had just watched videos covering Billy Basso's puzzles for ARG, pre-release. It involved QR codes, nonograms, etc. So I didn't think it would be too outside of the norm, considering the depth some of his puzzles have gone to in the past. Findings: It was maybe dumb to consider this, since the only thing I did by making a nonogram, was to recreate the same center facing skull squares in the same places the skulls currently are, lol. Results: Nothing but a waste of time.
4) Fourth theory: This was actually one of my first theories but I thought maybe by filling in only center skulls or left/right, that it could be a picture of some kind. Findings: Proved false fairly quickly. It makes nothing that I can make out. It does seem close to a couple of room designs on the map, though never matching exactly. I also tried to overlay it with the BDTP directions, but no dice.
5) Fifth theory: Since the combinations of left, right, and center facing skulls seems intentional, I thought perhaps it could be a longer flute code. Reasoning There are roughly 69 individual groups of skulls, 68 if you line them all up in a row, instead of individual columns. Some of the flute codes can go to 55 or 64 notes in length. Findings 1: Read by column from bottom left but leading top of left column into the bottom of adjacent right column, like it was a connected. Counting how many similar skulls in a row: 1,2,3,1,1,1,2,3,1,1,1,1,2,3,6,1,1,1,1,1,1,3,2,1,4,2,1,2,2,2,4,1,1,2,1,1,1,1,1,5,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,3,1,2,2,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,1,1. - 68 total numbers, but far too many of the same digit. I tried to count the amounts in each column and use odds as 1 and evens as 0, but that did not work. I then tried assuming left and right skulls are 1 and center skulls are 0, as well as vice versus. However, nothing truly panned out.!<
Further down this rabbit hole:I then noticed that the orientation of the skulls changes the skull teeth in a manner that appears like 1's and 0's, Each skull having 3 digits of teeth. Center being 101, right 001, left 100. Though 3 digits not being ideal for binary, three times 100 is 300 and it can be evenly divided by four, so it had potential to be a binary code. Therefore, I tried sequencing them based on top left down, going down each column, but no dice. I then tried bottom left to top, going up each column, but nothing. Each time entering the entire sequence of 1's and 0's into the translator, but nothing. I then tried only inputting the data for single columns and sometimes I would get letters or numbers. The first two columns I got "im" via top down and I got excited until doing the rest.Results: I feel like I tried a lot here, but I'm sure I didn't try everything.
8) Eighth theory: Morse code?!?!Reasoning The dots and lines of the teeth OR the skull orientation could signify a line or dot, similar to the binary theory.Findings: Honestly I'm kind of burned out on this right now, but thought I would share my findings with the community.
Unless more is revealed or Billy confirms there is something to this, then I think I'm gonna take a break. But I thought other tinfoil hat wearers might benefit from my findings or lack there of.

Therefore, I tried sequencing them based on top left down, going down each column, but no dice. I then tried bottom left to top, going up each column, but nothing. Each time entering the entire sequence of 1's and 0's into the translator, but nothing. I then tried only inputting the data for single columns and sometimes I would get letters or numbers. The first two columns I got "im" via top down and I got excited until doing the rest.Results: I feel like I tried a lot here, but I'm sure I didn't try everything.

Greek life is designed with a lot of opportunities for hetero hookups and relationships, resulting in bi/pan girls only talking about frat guys and current crushes, partners and experiences being a big conversation topic amongst sisters. As such, I want to talk to a few of my sisters about my crush, especially since the ones that are close with her can provide insight on whether or not I have a shot, but have refrained from doing so because while I trust them, I think some will still judge me for having a inter-sorority crush, there's a high risk of them accidentally letting it slip in which case it'll spread like wildfire, they will have to conceal their expressions/reactions around her multiple times a week which puts a burden on them, and they'll filter everything else I do that's remotely related to my crush's interests through that lens (cute/funny teasing if it were anyone else, but possibly judged as weird since it's our sister and probability wise, she's probably straight since most sisters are). Should I tell any of our sisters and if so, how much can I tell them (all the whining/gushing, concealed intensity, no name)?

 | I’m a huge fan of the song Robin, and have enjoyed reading all of the various interpretations of this song. The song feels like such a mix of emotions to me! At first listen it sounds like a sweet song, almost a lullaby. But then the layers of meaning and nuance start filtering in. Then one realizes that “bloodthirsty” feels a bit…off. Every time I listen to it I get a different mix of feelings: hopeful, wistful, nostalgic, happy, sad, resentment, innocence, ominous. And I couldn’t make any connections with the story (besides “Tigger = Tiger”). But… Perhaps it’s not the story of Winnie the Pooh itself that resonates with the song, but the real life story of Christopher Milne, the “real life Christopher Robin,” son of A.A. (Alan) Milne who authored the book. I don’t know if this story is one that Taylor would have heard of or seen, but I feel like there are some parallels to this story that might reflect aspects of Taylor’s life. The part that really connected me to Taylor’s story was Billy asking his nanny if they’d be “viewed like the bear at the zoo.” Again, I don't know Taylor's life or relationship with her parents. I have no idea if there’s any inspiration here for the song *Robin.* But this story makes me appreciate Taylor’s story (that we know of from our limited public perspective) and some of the difficulties she must have faced as a young person having grown up in fame for most of her life. She clearly loves songwriting and appears(?) to thrive in and seek the spotlight. And her music has brought so much joy and happiness to fans. But at what cost? Maybe The Manuscript perhaps alludes to this: maybe she sacrificed her early years and “true” (queer) self for that success (the "agony" she references), but also realizes the “gift” that her music has bestowed upon the world. At the end of the movie, Billy seems grateful for the "gift" of happiness and joy that his father's book has given the world, despite the hardships that it meant for them both. I also appreciate when Billy's father says "Winnie the Pooh is out in the world now and we can't take him out of it" after he tells Billy he's not going to write any more stories. I have had a number of job interviews recently that went poorly and did not result in securing employment.
I started to think I needed to do something during an interview to really stand out, be impressive, unique, and highly memorable. I thought it could be risky, but might work out.
I came up with the following idea: After concluding the interview, after the hand shakes, etc, when leaving the room stop, turn around, and say "There's one more thing you need to know about me."
Then pull out a bottle of hot sauce, down the entire bottle, slam it onto the ground and say "I can handle the heat." Nod confidently, leave the room.
Boom.
I imagined that they would be really impressed and wowed by such a performance.
Well it didn't pan out like I thought it would. It was only a small bottle of hot sauce, I figured it would be no big deal to actually do. I should have tested at home first, but I didn't.
I was nervous as a bitch-ass during the interview, but I was determined to follow through with the plan.
So I started exactly as described above. I was leaving, I turned around, maybe not with as much swagger as I'd imagined in my head, and I declared "There's one more thing you need to know about me."
I pulled out the hot sauce bottle, almost dropped it, and started to open the bottle. In my head it was all one quick confident motion, like an electric Indiana Jones, but instead I fumbled around and had a tough time getting it open. It felt like a nightmarish eternity but was probably only about 20 seconds. Enough time for one of the interviewers to ask me what I was doing.
I didn't answer directly. Instead, after I got the bottle open, I repeated "There's one more thing you need to know about me." (But stuttering.)
Then I guzzled down the entire bottle of hot sauce. I instantly regretted it. My mouth and throat felt like lava was swirling around inside me. I immediately started to gag and loudly cough, I was crying involuntarily. Tears hardcore streaming down my face. I was sweating like a terrible fool.
I desperately tried to scream "I can handle the heat" but just kept coughing before I could get anything out.
The interviewers were all standing up looking at me in horror and confusion.
A few seconds before I threw up all over the floor I knew it would happen, but I tried to hold it back. I couldn't.
I threw up all over the floor. It hurt as much on the way out as it did on the way in, if not more so. The vomit felt like flaming barbed wire shredding its way through my neck.
I should mention a disturbing amount of fiery mucus was also leaking out of my nose uncontrollably.
After I finished throwing up I could not bear to look at the interviewers. I hoarsely mumbled an apology and started to stumble as quickly as possible out the door.
I have never been more shamed in my life.
I didn't get the job.

I don't know what to do. We've treated the house with sprays (ortho, spectracide, foggers. The inside dog has always been treated. He has no fleas. No room in the house shows signs of any fleas or eggs except one corner of the bottom kitchen cabinets. I've flipped all living room furniture upside down, cleaned and sprayed - still no signs of a flea. Yet under that damn cabinet they just keep coming. I have four pans of dish water sitting there and they just jump in and die. Over the course of 10 days I've drowned about 800 - yes I counted each and everyone I dipped out of the water.
The only thing that's changed is we had a dog die last year which had lived in the backyard for over 10 years. I've researched and researched and so many different opinions what works and what doesn't. I've yet to buy any DE which people say works. But when you can even get to the or find the damn bed of fleas WTH!!
I've been so upset. It's depressed me something terrible. I can't focus on anything else. I've called Orkin and it's $275 which I don't have. And they don't go under the crawl space he said. They only treat the inside and the perimeter of the house. I don't see them ANYWHERE AT ALL except for that damn cabinet. What the hell happened? We've lived here over 30 years. Dying Light Part 6.
-An interlude.
Dressed in silken finery, the elven mage stepped fearlessly into the darkened tavern and approached its sole occupied table, where a man sat drinking alone. His features were difficult to make out in the gloom of the place, but he was tall. Tall enough to come up chest-high to her even while seated.
“Are you the one they call the mad wolf?” she asked him.
“Aya,” he said without interest.
Janthra Nightveil didn’t care for the tepidity of his response. She was the personal apprentice of a great magus and a powerful practitioner of the dark arts herself. She expected more than a drunkard's nod.
She deserved more than that.
“I am Janthra,” she said proudly. “You will refer to me as mistress.”
“I could, perhaps,” the big man spoke with a lifeless rasp as he continued drinking from his mug. “Probably won’t, though.”
“I speak for a lord of the Advocacy,” she said. “In this matter, my words are his words. For reasons that are beyond me, he has decided that he requires your services, dog. You should be honored.”
“I should, should I?” he asked. “Now why’s that?”
“BECAUSE I TOLD YOU SO!” she shouted angrily as her hand swept the pitcher of mead off the table and sent the glass crashing on the floor.
Through the tavern windows, feeble moonlight struggled to provide basic illumination to the room. It cut off just around the man’s neck, leaving his face encased in darkness as he leaned back lazily in his chair. Only his eyes remained visible; gleaming like sharp orbs of reddish hued gold that stared at her with evident amusement.
That was when he struck a match to light a pipe that Janthra hadn’t realized he’d reached for. In the moment of light provided by it, she learned that the tavern wasn’t empty at all.
Bodies had been tossed aside haphazardly, lying dead all around them. Each of them torn apart in a fashion that she found…
…memorable.
Why hadn’t she noticed that?

Janthra made a swift motion with her hands and then held them before the table. From her palms, traces of darkness extended outward and formed an ebony globe that slowly molded itself into the shape of a faceless figure sitting on a throne.
When Janthra was finished the man snapped his fingers and then pointed towards the exit.
“What?” she asked in surprise.
“L’il above your pay, darling. Don’t take it to heart, though. You’re doing a fine job,” he said as he waited for her to leave. Once she was gone, he turned to the image of the shadow and said, “Howdy.”
“Pandemia Lunatica,” the shadow said, speaking the hunter’s name.
“Been a while,” Pandemia said in acknowledgement.
“My servants have failed me,” the shadow said without preamble. “The princess has escaped their reach and successfully contacted a Forge Knight.”
“And Volm?” Pandemia asked curiously. “What happened to him?”
“Disgraced. Defeated. Dead. His soul burns with contrition. Do not speak of him again,” the shadow said tersely.
“Well, Mister, what can really be said?” asked the amused hunter. “You don’t send a virgin to a cathouse unless you want him to be fucked.”
“Quaint,” replied the shadow.
“Don’t be like that,” said Pandemia. “When you don’t invest in quality, what you get is what you get.”
“I did not contact you seeking your smug advice, hunter,” the shadow said with baleful displeasure. “I’ve come to you seeking a solution. Kill the princess. Kill her companions. Kill the hope of their kingdom. Do these things for me and you will enjoy a considerable reward.”
“And what about the Forge Knight?” Lunatica said mildly as he finished with his pipe. “You want him dead, too?”
“He's interfered in matters that do not concern him once too often,” the shadow said. “If the opportunity presents itself, then kill him as well.”
“Well, now, that does sound like extra work to me,” the big man said as he walked to the bar for more mead and a glass to fill it with. “I’ve never met a forge knight yet who ever died easy.”
“Only because you enjoy taking your time killing them,” the shadow said with an audible sneer. “Stop prevaricating, bounty hunter, and name your price.”
“You know what?” Pandemia said after some consideration. “Just get me a few crates of lager and I’ll call us even on the work. I’ll even take my payment in some goddamn Budweiser. Whatever you can find, hoss, I’m just so very fucking tired of drinkin’ mead.”
The harsh laughter of the shadow filled the dead tavern.
“That’s something I’ve always admired about you, Mad Wolf,” it chortled. “Your genuine appreciation of life’s simpler pleasures.”
“Well, ain’t no need to be fancy about things, Sir,” Pandemia said as he donned his duster and hat. “It’s life’s ephemerality that makes it as enjoyable as it is. Wanting too much from it just dilutes the sweetness of its many flavors.”
“Truly the wisdom of the gutter,” the shadow smirked.
“Truly,” Pandemia said with a smirk of his own. “Got a little bit of bad news for you, though,” he added.
“And that is?” asked the shadow.
“That cute little apprentice o’yers mouthed off to me somethin’ fierce,” Pandemia said regretfully. “I’m gonna have to say something to her about it.”
“I don’t bemoan the price of doing business,” the shadow snorted dismissively as it began to fade away. “Do as you wish.”
Pandemia’s lips curled up into a pleased smile. “Always a nice thing to hear them words.”
He then exited the tavern while whistling a cheerful tune. “Hey, girlie,” he said as he approached her, where she waited impatiently. “Got some news from the boss.”
“What are they? What is the will of my master?” Janthra asked him imperiously. “Go on, dog! Speak up!”
In response, Pandemia stepped into her personal space and grinned at her, doing it in such a way that truly showed her in that moment, the depths of his smile and the sharpness of his teeth. Then he leaned towards her ear and whispered. “He said this is going to be a solo job.”
The apprentice’s eyes widened as she took a step backward. She quickly began speaking, trying desperately to say something that would stop what she now knew was coming, but Pandemia silenced her when he raised his hand and cut off her words.
Among other things.
When he was finished, Pandemia Lunatica began his walk east. He was in no hurry.
Wherever he wished to be, he would eventually find himself.

Dying Light Part 6.
-An interlude.
Dressed in silken finery, the elven mage stepped fearlessly into the darkened tavern and approached its sole occupied table, where a man sat drinking alone. His features were difficult to make out in the gloom of the place, but he was tall. Tall enough to come up chest-high to her even while seated.
“Are you the one they call the mad wolf?” she asked him.
“Aya,” he said without interest.
Janthra Nightveil didn’t care for the tepidity of his response. She was the personal apprentice of a great magus and a powerful practitioner of the dark arts herself. She expected more than a drunkard's nod.
She deserved more than that.
“I am Janthra,” she said proudly. “You will refer to me as mistress.”
“I could, perhaps,” the big man spoke with a lifeless rasp as he continued drinking from his mug. “Probably won’t, though.”
“I speak for a lord of the Advocacy,” she said. “In this matter, my words are his words. For reasons that are beyond me, he has decided that he requires your services, dog. You should be honored.”
“I should, should I?” he asked. “Now why’s that?”
“BECAUSE I TOLD YOU SO!” she shouted angrily as her hand swept the pitcher of mead off the table and sent the glass crashing on the floor.
Through the tavern windows, feeble moonlight struggled to provide basic illumination to the room. It cut off just around the man’s neck, leaving his face encased in darkness as he leaned back lazily in his chair. Only his eyes remained visible; gleaming like sharp orbs of reddish hued gold that stared at her with evident amusement.
That was when he struck a match to light a pipe that Janthra hadn’t realized he’d reached for. In the moment of light provided by it, she learned that the tavern wasn’t empty at all.
Bodies had been tossed aside haphazardly, lying dead all around them. Each of them torn apart in a fashion that she found…
…memorable.
Why hadn’t she noticed that?
Why hadn’t she smelled any blood?
“Well, Miss. If you say so, then you say so. Mind putting him on the line for me?” he asked.
“W-What?” Janthra asked nervously.
“Call him up, girl,” he said, emphasizing the last word.

Hello, Looking for advice. I got my oil changed by a local shop, a couple days later I took my car to the dealership to get an inspection before a road trip I planned. Just wanted to make sure everything looked okay for the long drive.
The dealership found that the oil pan had a slight crack and was leaking due to the drain bolt being the wrong size. They let me know that the leak would get worse and that their recommendation would be to replace the oil pan. It was expensive, but they assured me that it should be done in case it got bigger and the leak worse. I’m not an expert… call me naive. I wanted to make sure everything was okay for my trip so I agreed. After the pan was replaced, I was encouraged to follow up with the place I got the oil change from and that they should cover the cost of the pan replacement, since it was after that service that the wrong bolt was screwed in and the pan damaged. I let the oil company know and they doubled down, denied my claim, saying I was scammed by the dealership. The dealership has photos and written service records that document the issue found.
I feel confused and at stupid now out almost $1,100, which is a huge amount for me. What can I do? I was told to file a complaint with the BAR and then persue small claims. I have legal insurance through my work, should I get an attorney?
All I want is my money back and the oil company won’t budge saying I was scammed by the dealership and the dealership saying it’s an obvious negligence on the oil companies part…

So the first thing to know is that my house is right in front of the bus stop. So a lot of people stand in front of it during the day. Our dogs go out to the front yard to play and the kids love to pet them and play with them too.
We're on a first name basis with most of the people that wait for the bus.
Anyways, so last week my mom decided to host a party and she requested to use my house since there's more space. I'm in a house in the suburbs.
The party was from 5 till whenever. But Uncle dumbfuck and his wife decided to show up at around 3, said he wanted to beat the traffic.
(We don't live in a busy city like LA or something so wtf was he even talking about? Probably had nothing better to do I guess. 🤷♂️)
So as you can imagine everyone was getting ready for the party. Wife and mom were in the kitchen getting the food ready. I had to run a few errands and grab a bunch of stuff from outside.
We sent Uncle Dumbo to the TV but I guess he got bored so he just walked around and eventually he was just standing in the middle of the kitchen getting in everyone's way. At one point he stood in front of a frying pan and put his face real close asking my wife "what are you making in there smells real good" the oil almost splattered onto his face but this dummy was oblivious.
Mom told him to get out of the kitchen and he said "let me help" so we sent him to the front yard to clean up some of the toys and bags and bring them to the garage. Nothing heavy.
I checked on him and he was taking two bags with him. I thought that was going to keep him busy for like 20 minutes at least and went inside to help set up the table or whatever.
Not 5 minutes in we heard loud screaming noises. I ran out to see Uncle dumbfuck going "get tha fuck outta heeya" to teenagers and their grandma who they were probably taking to the city. I knew them.
I went up and asked what's happening. Uncle dumbfuck was livid talking about how they stepped on the grass. They should have stayed on the sidewalk. What a fucking moron. Mom pulled this moron inside and I apologized to the kids, I told them moron has mental issues from old age.
When I go inside, he's still huffing and puffing. I asked him what happened. He starts shouting "if you don't deal with these slurs they'll move in to your yard and take over your house!" He was literally having a full on tantrum.
"Because they stepped on the grass?" 🤔
He erupted into an even more unhinged incohered rant. "You don't know these kind of people! They come here to steal!" He ended it with: "We used to just shoot them!" He was talking about 2 teenagers and their grandma. What a fucking imbecile.
Even the dogs were getting anxious now because this moron wouldn't stop screaming.
Wife went and brought him an ice cold diet coke so he can chill out. This man was literally sweating now because he was so worked up by this.
Ruined the whole vibe honestly. I tried my best to avoid him the rest of the day as did everyone else. He actually tried to bring it up again during the party with a couple of boomer chucklefuck buddies. I just smiled and nodded along then pretended I had to go to the bathroom. No point discussing things with these guys honestly.
One thing for sure: that asshole is never getting invited here ever again. Told my family to cut him off too but I don't know if they will.
Fuck that guy.

So hello everyone, I will try and make a long story as short as I can.. about a month ago I matched with a guy on FB dating. We began messaging and then texting, and soon long phone calls and plans to meet up. He lives in my city but on the other side, and works long hours at night so meeting quickly wasn't an option without prior planning. After some weeks of talking, I found out he'd come from a very rough background with his family.. lots of neglect and abuse from various adults in his life when he was a child. Despite this, and a rough past two relationships, he was in therapy and doing his best to work on himself and be an all-around better person. He was very mature and rational, and I really liked that about him. He also made a point to tell me he really liked me and respected my views on various subjects. We really hit it off quite well.
We finally met in person for dinner and drinks and immediately I felt a little spark, he was so handsome and very much appeared to be who he was over the phone and through messaging. We made eye contact, great flowing conversation, laughs, it was a fun time. We spent a while having just 2 drinks each and a light dinner but the restaurant we were at was closing soon and we were some of the very last people in there.
We walked outside and to the parking lot and he turned to me and looked me right in my eyes and smiled and gave me one of the sweetest kisses I've even gotten in my life. It was the perfect time, in my opinion. We were giggling and holding each other at this point, and kept kissing and chatting for a few minutes. We each go home and continued to text and chat for a while. I went to sleep feeling great!
The next day, the vibes were still good for a while but he said, "I'm a bit in my own head today. I know this isn't what you want to hear but I realized I need more time alone and single. I need to address whatever is going on in my head with my anxiety and fear of abandonment, etc. I hope you understand. You're a wonderful woman but I'm a bit off still and I'll be wasting both our time if I don't address myself even more." So naturally my heart drops a bit, but I respond, "I respect and admire your choice to be real and honest and make the effort, you're really mature and I admire that about you. I'm happy you want to sort things out within yourself, that's so hard to do but I'm glad you're making the effort." He then said, "You're definitely worth the effort, oye_mujer. I haven't dated for a while and I'm glad once I tried again, I met you."
He also said, "I made a few appointments to see if I have something like ADHD. I think it's time to figure that out. I was hoping that once I figure things out we can get together again. That was fun. I'm apparently just not in the right headspace to be in a relationship. I was really hoping I was though."
He said he wants to reach out in the future and if I'm still up to it and single, maybe we can try again.
One part of me thinks this is all valid and wants to believe him because he seems so genuine and not like a user or weirdo.. the other part of my brain asks, am I just being played? Did he not actually like me? He wouldn t have just said "hey I didn't feel a spark", right? Because he's good with communication? Or even, is there another woman he wants to see if he can date and if it doesn't pan out with her-- try and come back to me?? AM I TOO IN MY OWN HEAD NOW?
I absolutely want to believe the "it's not you- it's me" but there's another smaller part of me that has trust issues that is telling me he's just not that into me and didn't wanna let me down.
I'm glad he told me before we went any further, honestly. I'm glad we didn't let things progress and then get my heart broken.

I am excited to announce I am officially a member of the charcoal grill/smoker community. I ultimnately decided on the Summit Kamado over a ceramic Kamado Joe because I didn’t want to worry about the maintenance or the weight at 372lbs or whatever it is.
I am completely new to charcoal grilling and am in need of opinions. What are some must haves for a noob like me? I tend to want/buy the best of anything I look into with an emphasis on function/reliability. I plan on doing a combo of fast and slow cooking. Many steaks, many butts/briskets.
Things I am looking for recommendations on:
-charcoal fire starters
-charcoal tools like rakes, etc.
-Grill grate lifter tools
-Charcoal storage containers
-Cambro boxes
-Kamado grill cover
-Any quality side table attachments available?
-drip pans/heat diffusers since many say the stock one is not good enough
-charcoal baskets like the slow n sear low profile, are vortexes worth it and if so what size do I get?
-tools to clean the inside of the grill out, heard easy off works well but is there any sort of shaped scraper?
-are grill guns actually useful or are they just cuz were guys and like the idea of flame throwers
Yea idk I probably have a million other things I would like opinions on but cannot remember them right now.

I am completely new to charcoal grilling and am in need of opinions. What are some must haves for a noob like me? I tend to want/buy the best of anything I look into with an emphasis on function/reliability. I plan on doing a combo of fast and slow cooking. Many steaks, many butts/briskets.
Things I am looking for recommendations on:
-charcoal fire starters
-charcoal tools like rakes, etc.
-Grill grate lifter tools
-Charcoal storage containers
-Cambro boxes
-Kamado grill cover
-Any quality side table attachments available?
-drip pans/heat diffusers since many say the stock one is not good enough
-charcoal baskets like the slow n sear low profile, are vortexes worth it and if so what size do I get?
-tools to clean the inside of the grill out, heard easy off works well but is there any sort of shaped scraper?
-are grill guns actually useful or are they just cuz were guys and like the idea of flame throwers
Yea idk I probably have a million other things I would like opinions on but cannot remember them right now.

Hey all,
I have a little kubota EL-300-E engine that is used to drive a 175amp alternator thats derated down to 105amps. This was built by Ample Power for a marine generator.
Everything runs fairly well - i've worked through a lot of the kinks in the system but it does have 3000 hours on her now and I figured it'd be a good time to do a bit of a service on her since we are coming into summer here in the PNW and I dont need to run her during summer.
Some of the things I'm wanting to do is make oil changes easier, however, the oil drain plug also has the built in screen. It's quite a chore to do oil changes as this means i basically have to just have the oil dump onto the oil pan below and I mop it up with oil pads. I'm curious if anyone has ideas on how one could setup a drain hose extension of some sort? I am not willing to remove the oil screen completely as i like the fact that the oil has a way to be filtered, but having some way to modify the plug so it can be easier to drain would be nice.
I've also been battling some random shut downs - happens after extended run times - I suspect it was a wiring fault that i seemed to have fixed(as of last 2 hour run time). I'm thinking i'll have injector serviced as well doing a coolant flush. She needs a good paint job as my rattle can paint job was a complete botch job and the oil leaks i had due to the oil breather line being kinked as well as the fact that I had issues initially getting the raw water cooling system to stay functional seemed to cook the paint i was using causing it to from a nice white to a brownish white.

"This program is a special update to the Thafki Advocacy’s situation on their new home world, Ayzife. Originally we here at WTWN had done a piece a couple of years back towards the last days of the War, and now we wanted to send one of our reporters to find out- has anything changed? With that, we'll let Rux Limpbut take it away for this one. And please do be aware, user discretion is advised.”
The date of my arrival to Ayzife, the new Thafki homeworld, had arrived. It was a part formally called by our government the “New Re-Seeding Sector”, but It had gained a painful nickname as quickly as it was given its government one. “The Dark Corner”.
A group of Thafki, listless and confused, is shown, as a small group of Gaians seem to herd them back into a recently finished project. A Gaian man is showing us around, telling us of the hardships, his face has been blurred for their safety.
“What am I to do?” The thick Mountaineer accent rang out from the man’s scarred face. He was one of the first officers that had come across the cattle ranches and the true extent of the horror that laid within them. “The adults can't speak, they can't learn. The children are really the only hope…” his accented voice trails off as he checked within some of the residences, some of the seemingly adult Thafki, stunted and confused, are being hand fed. They do not respond to any orders, at least not to ones in any other language except that of the prey killers, or that of our Horned and able bodied Sister species.
The children are crowded around their parents, speaking in a mix of Thafki and a Piggish- like squealing imitation of Arxur. One approaches me and the cameraman, asking us a question.
“Savageness?” They eek out. Compared to the parents, the children seem blissfully unaware to what they or what their loved ones went through, their eyes shining brightly, even if they're glazed over in a mountain of unrealized horror. Our guide calls over a shabbily dressed Thafki, in an overly large uniform. Hand-me-downs from our sister species. It has been hemmed to solgalik and back, but it was still painfully apparent that it barely fit comfortably.
The Thafki, as I was to learn later, “Guzifi” or police, takes the child away and back into the building we peered into. Our cameraman zooms into the back of their necks, a painfully visible barcode and scratched in number can be seen. I stand aghast, before our guide comes back to us, his eyes sullen and shrunken into his head, hammered with fatigue.
“As I was saying…*most* of them can't do anything. But the ones like Curzix there-” he gestures to the man, who is now knelt down, stroking the child's hair, a faint giggle echoing in the sparse abode “-He escaped early into his stint, it hardened him. He was one of the first to sign up once we finished the terraforming process at the beginning of this year.”
We are hurried on, “Curzix” soon rejoins us as we continue to inspect and report. Only months ago this entire section we were in was a barren wasteland, only recently finished terraforming. Now? It's crammed with tightly knit buildings, services, and other amenities. But it's not enough. “Reservists” from our Sister species, as they called them, are the majority of people dealing with the Thafki here, only a handful of Guzifi are to be seen amongst the crowds and herd of broken.
Soon we find ourselves in a “rehabilitation” facility, so to speak, the local baker is the first to greet us, head to toe in traditional thafkian garb, and a small basket of baked goods they had made earlier this morning. She gestures for us to take some, which me and the cameraman do.
“And this-” the Provincial-Governor who had been tailing with us begins, before the Thafki finishes for him
“I'm Zaifi.” She sticks her hand out, and I do the same in kind. I quickly noted that she seemed to be the only light in this icker of dark, bitter sadness that assuaged us. She turns around and begins to wander through the halls as we begin to trail behind her, questions outpouring.
“Are you one of the Free Thafkis that came here?” I ask, she nods in response while clearing her throat..
“Yes. I might be one of the few to even go so far as to say my life's been better since I came here.” She responds. I nod along, taking her words in as I take a bite of the customary “Cionn” bread.
It's one of the signs of the Thafki Advocacy's-now Thafki Republic-Efforts to Re-Seeding their culture and themselves. I'm later told it's an offshoot of a more savory dinner bread, softer and less sweet called Uniffin'Dath, although I'm also told that that type of bread is used in conjunction with Striou (not Strayu) soup.
While I do so, however, I take glances behind me and to the sides of me. Behind me, the Gaian Sector-Governor, Halim and the Thafki Republic’s first Councilor, Ralikenn are having a heated discussion. Something our camera notices as he increases the sensitivity on the recording equipment.
“...I can't believe you all….a junta that…” are the words picked up from Ralikenn, as Halim begins to frown heavily, and begins to speak back.
“... Can't you… supplies arrived…” The discussion continues as Zaifi grabs my attention, the cameraman I'm with peering into the doors we pass by.
The camera pans to Thafki children, in various states of appearance, are sat down in school desks. At the front of their rooms either a Gaian or Thafki teacher can be seen, teaching anything from their language, their dress code, etiquette and more. Soon the camera pans back to Rux and Zaifi.
“So while I serve the food here, I also try and show them the history of us and our resilient culture through it. The background of it, how it came to be and how it weaves with us.” Zaifi continues as we walk down the hallway, she veers off into one of the rooms, and hesitantly I follow.
The inside was quite well worn for how new the building was, already indentations, marks, and other scratches and scuffs could be seen. Signs of hard work and labor, something that is unsurprising considering Zaifi and her duties. As she begins to work, it's time for me to ask her about her thoughts on the situation.
“Compared to the last couple of decades, where do you think your species is at now? I mean, a lot has changed. From being a species with the large portion of your population being cattle to now having a government and world handed to you, it's got to be a bit jarring?”
Zaifi nods, the trademark pearls on a brooch around her neck click and clack gently together, the synthetic pearls a sign of what the Advocacy group had been able to hold on to throughout the centuries.
“Well-” she starts off, as she begins to knead a greenish-blue dough on the distinctly brown work surface, the faint smell of Saltwine being smelt from where I was standing. “I wish we got a welcome, as good as the Paltans and the Gaians gave us. I mean, they split half and half on things here and there around the village!”
The camera pans around the room, bits and baubles of Zaifi’s own life being dotted around it. A bottle or two of sea wine, a basket of synthetic pearls, hints of oceanic theming bedazzle the room.
Zaifi begins to portion out the Bread-a serving of Cionn. A serving of the more savory Uniffin'Dath. Both are seasoned with a spice that is only rarely mentioned in some cookbooks, “Izuzdath.” The process is lively, a stark contrast to last year's report at a holding world as they finished terraforming here.
If you were to have told me that a Thafki would be smiling while knee deep in this grime that is misery, I would've called you a liar. But apparently…
“So how long have you been around here? Or rather should I say, with the herd?” I ask. It causes Zaifi to stop and look at the basket of pearls. Each of them are inscribed with a loved or close one that died, and the date on which they did so. Many of them aren't her relatives, rather they are the few Thafki she has bonded with while staying here.
“Physically? Only…a year or two. But mentally-” The dull sound of the bread being put upon a pre-oiled stone, an smoothed coral stone no less, echoed softly while the grinding of such a stone sliding into one of the waiting ovens as it did so was a stark contrast. The clasp of the oven door closing caused her to turn back to us. She sighs as she pats down her apron.
“Centuries. I guess we grew accustomed to being the odd ones out. Now that my herd- my people, have a place to call their own…” She is sullen for a moment, before her eyes meet the window, overlooking a courtyard. The smile reappears just as quickly as it disappeared.
“Ya know. I'll take this for now, the funniest thing ya know-” she gestures to me to come over and look. The courtyard has a simple watery filled pit. A “pool” as our sister species had dubbed it, seemed to be the eye and star of this little facility, at least for the attendee's. A whole gaggle of Thafki children, in a wardrobe of mismatched, shabby clothing suited for the water could be seen as they ran about it. What I could only assume was their teacher watched over them.
“Your saplings are quite the good match. Even they seem to want to bring the water to themselves sometimes.” She says to herself now in a far more reassured tone. As I begin to smile myself, just a little, a tap is felt on my shoulder. It's Curzix, the Guzifi that has been assigned to us.
The camera now zooms out from the pool and the other recreational activities happening in the center of the U-shaped facility, and turns around quickly, now focusing on Rux and Curzix.
“We'll we're ready to go when you are, you all wanted to get the full experience yeah?” Curzix stuffs his paws into the oversized and hemmed coats pockets, the armband with the symbol of Guzifi. He meanders off as we begin to follow him, I say my goodbyes to Zaifi, and she returns them in kind as we are led back out of the hallway.
We start off now checking the facility in depth, taken into one classroom in particular. It is here that our cameraman points out something peculiar. The extreme range of coloring in the Thafki children here. Looking past numerous ranch markings, numbering, and a word inscribed on the arm of each in the Ruinous Lizards language, the Thafki children are striking.
The camera makes cuts to each of the Thafki children in the room. The variety of blues is numerous. Some are in a vibrant luscious blue, other ones have a dull, greyer one. And yet these are the least eye-catching ones. Some have sporadic spots. Some have a sickly greenish blue hue. And yet some are completely devoid of their regular blue, replaced with a dull brown. The camera now returns to overlooking the entirety of the room from the doorway.
As I entered the room the teacher, who had requested that their face be blurred, comes to me and shakes my hand. They gesture to the Thafki pupils, who are in varied state of affairs. Some of them are paying attention, while others are far more focused on their desks or some portion of the wall.
“You came in at a good time, we're trying to teach them Thafki. It's been a bit of a struggle, but we've been making some slow and small progress.” the teacher comes alongside one of the brightly colored pupils, resting their hand gently on their shoulder. The child flinches for a bit, expecting something as they tense up, before they relax.
“Are they a handful?” I ask to the teacher as they themselves point onto a piece of paper in front of the pup, pointing something out
“From time to time. But whenever the horned fellows come along they calm down quite a bit.” the Thafki’s eyes dart occasionally from the paper on the desk to the doorway behind us, looking back shows the Sector-Governor that has been with us this entire time.
The last time we had visited a rehabilitation center-albeit it was just after the war had wrapped up-the facility was in a far more ramshackle situation compared to now, but while the situation is improving, there's still more to do.
With our little visit to the center done our entourage made our way outside. As we did so a rumbler, an armored vehicle used by our other half, came rolling by. A gaggle of Thafki on it, a Gaian within the group giving us a glance as they went by.
It's here where the uncomfortable nature and scandalous portion of the Re-Seeding comes in. The Laborer gangs, seen as a solution to perceived laziness on Ayzife from some of the Ex-Cattle. The concept is basic and rudimentary both in premise and execution, anything simple is offered up to the gangs first, before giving up to the more general labor sections assigned to the planet.
We keep trudging along, the plethora of buildings being assembled or constructed is numerous along the trail we're taking. Along our way, Ralikenn begins to talk about how far they've come in such a short time span. He gestures to the buildings before he begins to speak.
“All of this-” Our cameraman moves and angles his camera to the row of unfinished buildings, in various states of construction. “In just about a year, it's nearly unbelievable to be honest. I had, tearfully, resigned myself to a forgone conclusion to our species. But now?-” They begin to tear up clearly overwhelmed at this point, they attempt to speak but all that happens is their mouth staying agape for mere moments, before closing and just shaking their head.
And yet there's still more to see. More to do and more to make right. I only hope we can do it in time, as a herd.

The last time we had visited a rehabilitation center-albeit it was just after the war had wrapped up-the facility was in a far more ramshackle situation compared to now, but while the situation is improving, there's still more to do.
With our little visit to the center done our entourage made our way outside. As we did so a rumbler, an armored vehicle used by our other half, came rolling by. A gaggle of Thafki on it, a Gaian within the group giving us a glance as they went by.
It's here where the uncomfortable nature and scandalous portion of the Re-Seeding comes in. The Laborer gangs, seen as a solution to perceived laziness on Ayzife from some of the Ex-Cattle. The concept is basic and rudimentary both in premise and execution, anything simple is offered up to the gangs first, before giving up to the more general labor sections assigned to the planet.
We keep trudging along, the plethora of buildings being assembled or constructed is numerous along the trail we're taking. Along our way, Ralikenn begins to talk about how far they've come in such a short time span. He gestures to the buildings before he begins to speak.
“All of this-” Our cameraman moves and angles his camera to the row of unfinished buildings, in various states of construction. “In just about a year, it's nearly unbelievable to be honest. I had, tearfully, resigned myself to a forgone conclusion to our species. But now?-” They begin to tear up clearly overwhelmed at this point, they attempt to speak but all that happens is their mouth staying agape for mere moments, before closing and just shaking their head.
And yet there's still more to see. More to do and more to make right. I only hope we can do it in time, as a herd.
