After some years away; What are some necessary mods at the moment for great looking realism in the graphics and/or sound department? Any workshop packs or mod packs to download from somewhere? I know of ReShade but, with the game now having it's own raytracing and such, I think... uh?

2024.05.19 06:29 JustEstablishment594 Your thoughts on these part suggestions for upgrading a 10+ year old pc?

I've inherited my brother in laws old pc he built. It's actually a pretty good start but it's old af. Does have GeForce 900 series I think. I asked the store what parts I should get and this was his suggestion.
I'm pretty sure this is a mid build which is fine, but if I wanted to go bit higher end in terms of graphics what should I be looking for? Or is this fine? Games I play are Anno 1800, RS3, KCD and some star wars games currently, but will aim to be playing Hogwarts Legacy on it.
Price is in NZD btw.
Also, I've just started a job as a junior family barrister, so budget can prob be 2-2.5k at a push, but I'd rather spend less than 2k currently.

2024.05.19 06:14 Spare_Cut_9597 The Corvallis Creative Cooperative - building community, friendships, and nearly everything else!

Hey besties of reddit! Haven't been on here before, but wanted to invite you to join the Corvallis Creative Cooperative, my community building organization. We've mostly been organizing on Facebook, where we have about 800 members, but I’ve been running into more and more people around town who aren’t on there but have been hearing about us and are interested in taking part. So - maybe you're one of them! You're welcome to check out our website (www.corvalliscreativecooperative.com), but here's a quick rundown.
I don't have a real short version of what we do, other than the phrases "community building" and "Friendship is Magic", because we do a lot. I run about 20 events a week, from support groups to walking groups to communal cooking to a potluck to movie night to tabletop games and plenty more. We’re starting up a community farm on one of our member’s properties. I’m working on a cooperative housing project, to make sure that everyone in our group has a safe home that they can afford to live in (that’s an ambitious one, but we’ll get there). We have a burgeoning home business cooperative, and I’ve set up a community workshop in my home that people can come use to make whatever they want.
There’s more, of course, but that’s a few of the things we do.
The most important part of this isn’t really the things we do, though: it’s the people we bring together. What ties all of our events and projects together is my conviction that we fundamentally need each other, not just to be happy and healthy, but to be human. The general reckoning is that this is the most isolated time in human history. We have a tremendous amount of loneliness, social anxiety, and related mental and physical health struggles. Even for people who are doing relatively well, the kinds of tight-knit, interdependent communities that humans have formed for most of history are very much a thing of the past.
I’m trying to bring that kind of community back - and it has been delightful and shocking to see how many people have been excited to join in. I hope you’ll be one of them.
Before I get on to other things, wanted to share my personal favorite event we do: Upward Spiral. This is basically our anti-death spiral group, where we sit down, figure out goals and problems that people in the group want to work towards, and then help each other make our lives healthier and happier in real, material ways. That’s what friends are for, right? We had our first meeting for that group yesterday, and all seven people who took part came out of it with some pretty high impact solutions - new places to live, support with mental health struggles, helpers to organize their home; that kind of stuff. We all have different strengths and resources, and nothing warms my heart like seeing something one person struggles with get done by someone it's easy breezy for.
If you have any questions, or just want to talk, my number is 541-740-1452. My name’s Robbie, and we’re not just friends - we’re besties, bestie!

2024.05.19 05:57 Byssa6 The tragedy of Fred the Magic Rat (Minor LMoP spoilers)

Me and my family were playing LMoP recently when our cleric tried to make a pet. It did not go well.
Let’s introduce the cast first… (yes these are the preset characters we were using)
Wizard: Me
Cleric: My sister, and the focus of our story
Fighter: My brother. He doesn’t play a big role in the story, but he was there.
Rogue: My mom, whose character is nicknamed “The Unlucky Halfling” due to her poor rolls.
DM: My dad.
Our session had two beginnings. The chronological beginning, which the DM decided was a dream sequence due to Cleric downing 3 bottles of poison and dying in the Wizard Workshop, and the actual beginning, where she survived. Both times, Cleric used animal handling to befriend the rat that was in the room (she even got a nat 20 on her second attempt) and named it “Fred”. After the rat was befriended, I noticed the DM constantly rolling dice for some reason. Rogue suspected Fred might be Glass Staff in disguise, but since none of us had Detect Magic we couldn’t check.
Fred started being really suspicious during our fight with the Nothic. It bit Cleric on the shoulder early on in the fight which made her take 1 damage, but I suspected he might have been scared by my presdigitation. When Cleric fainted during the fight, she was more worried about Fred being okay than herself, even after I gave her a healing potion that restored her HP to 5. After the fight, we waited for Cleric to wake up. We then tried to decide whether to fight the nearby Red Brands or get the prisoners we rescued to safety. Cleric tried to ask Fred to go beneath the door the Red Brands were behind, only for Fred to bite her in the face, reducing her to 1 HP. We ultimately decided to go back to town.
When we left the dungeon, we saw a letter from Glass Staff asking if we liked his “pet” and for a moment I thought he was talking about Fred. Rogue thought he was talking about the Nothic. The DM let me use Detect Magic even if it wasn’t in my spell slots, and I used it on Fred to see if he was magical. He was, though I couldn’t tell what magic. We started calling him “Fred the Magic Rat” after that. We decided not to kill him immediately because he could maybe be the Druid we were looking for. Our DM suggested we visit Tymora’s temple on our way to the inn to ask if Garale knew anything about what magic Fred could have.
When we entered the temple, the DM described how Fred, being held in Cleric’s hands, was struck by a bolt of magic, evaporating him instantly. Since he was in Cleric’s hands, she took damage and fainted. Garale asked why we would bring a “familiar of evil” into Tymora’s temple. The DM then read the rat’s stats. The rat was a familiar of Iarno, and was a spy for him. Those rolls I saw the DM doing? Those were to decide if the rat would bite Cleric or not. The rat was a trap placed in the module itself specifically for people like Cleric. Needless to say she was shocked.
TLDR: My sister falls for an in-game trap because she loves animals.

2024.05.19 05:40 Col-orWolves-8812 I’m trapped in a closed dealer.

What can I do?
I want to fix my truck before my deliveries. I went to a closed dealer with a workshop. After fix, a invisible wall not allow me to leave this place.
It only has a dealership and workshop and no place to sleep.
I tried to call tow service but it tow me to the same place and trapped me again.
I saved the game and try to verify my files in my pic and there’s nothing wrong.
Wait until the dealer open? Haha…
Thanks.

2024.05.19 05:10 lalalavieenrose Every Island Ranked by Total Number of Unique Tracks

I was bored and had a lot of time on my hands so I decided to go through every single island, both in the main game and DOF, and add up the total number of tracks for each island. Some of this might be off, especially with the natural islands regarding the Werdos. I relied on the recording studio in-game, the wiki, and some videos on YouTube to determine how many tracks the monsters had and add them up.

2024.05.19 04:38 okamiokamii My game is glitching so bad it's unplayable (PC)

I've never had issues with any major glitches just the little ones here and there that everyone gets. I stopped playing in 2020 and I decided to play again and after loading my last game save it's been glitching like crazy. Falling though the floors/ground, not being able to stand after crouching, water sounds when walking, freezing while fighting but still getting attacked. I do have 2 mods from the workshop one to expand how much I can carry and one that's an outfit. I did install a few others in 2015 but I unsubscribed from them years ago. I tried verifying files through steam and it found 1 corrupted file and my friend said steam would take care of it automatically but nothing changed. I'm wondering if anyone here knows how I can fix it so I can play it again.

2024.05.19 04:28 vohen2 Opinions on the Ultra Historical, Victoria Tweaks and Laaxus AI mods

I've just got the game and should be able to play it in the coming weeks, so in the meanwhile I've been looking around on steam workshop.
I'll probably play one vanilla game to establish a baseline, but I honestly can't remember the last time I played an unmodded PDX game, so I'm very much looking forward to some improvements from the community.
So far the ones that caught my eye were these mods, the Ultra Historical Collection , the Victoria Tweaks Mod and Laaxus Revision of AI (apparently a successor to ARoAI for anyone familiar). For anyone who has played any of these before, care to share an opinion? I'm also very much open to mod suggestions of course.

2024.05.19 04:28 Meta_Gamer_42 A New Way to Educate

Exploration of an Innovative K-12 School Curriculum and Pedagogical Approaches
Before going over the curriculum we must first discuss how to best teach. All of the following methods outlined below are what would I would suggest be use to teach the students trying to use just one or even just two of these would not be enough and would compromise the students learning and education
Teaching Methods
Project-Based Learning (PBL): In PBL, students work on a project over an extended period, which could be a week or a month, to respond to a complex question, problem, or challenge. The projects are usually multi-disciplinary and require students to apply what they've learned in a practical manner. This allows them to see the immediate applicability of their learning.
Inquiry-Based Learning: This is a form of active learning that starts by posing questions, problems, or scenarios—rather than simply presenting established facts or portraying a smooth path to knowledge. Students are involved in the construction of their learning. They engage with the material, participate in the class, and collaborate with each other.
Gamification: Incorporating elements of game design in education can make learning fun and engaging. This can involve point systems, leaderboards, badges, or other game mechanics.
Experiential Learning: This method involves learning by doing and reflecting on the experience. It can include internships, study abroad programs, field trips, laboratory experiments, or any other hands-on learning experiences.
Flipped Classroom: In a flipped classroom, students review lecture materials at home and do their 'homework' in class, where they can ask for help as they practice new skills and apply new knowledge. This allows teachers to spend class time helping students apply what they've learned and coaching them as they work through challenges.
Cross-Disciplinary Projects: By integrating different disciplines into a single project, you can make the learning experience more holistic and interconnected, much like how the knowledge of different magical disciplines would combine in a fantasy setting.
Competency-Based Learning: In this educational model, students advance upon mastering a skill or a competency. This encourages active utilization of knowledge and immediate feedback, similar to how a magic student might advance only after successfully casting a particular spell.
Now that we have given a basic outline of the teaching styles we can go over the curriculum for K-12 the idea would be to Have an A/B day schedule and some classes would meet less frequently because they don't take much time to cover everything, all of this will be done in order to create well rounded students, people and citizens. They are not only creative in nature, but leaders in their own right as well as capable of doing whatever they desire and succeeding wildly
Core Curriculum Classes:
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics): must Ensure these subjects are covered both within the integrated curriculum (like coding in math, cooking in science, history in art, etc.) and as standalone classes to develop depth of knowledge.
Memory Techniques & Knowledge Management Techniques: Using an Integrated code based system with AI tools to help teacher track progress and provide more targeted assistance as well as help students with how to effectively organize and manage knowledge, covering basic note-taking, the PARA/CODE system. Using AI to provide semi interactive sessions that not only explain how memory works but also actively encourage the practice of using the note taking method & memory techniques
Project-Based Learning: Encourage practical application of knowledge through project-based learning. Gamification & Experiential Learning: Use these techniques to make learning more engaging and fun.
Flipped Classroom & Inquiry-Based Learning: Encourage independent learning and critical thinking through these teaching methods.
Elementary School: Coding & Digital Literacy: Introduce basic coding principles using visual coding platforms. Begin teaching about online safety and basic cybersecurity. Financial Literacy: Teach basic concepts like the value of money, saving, and spending. Potential to introduce the use of real currency and creating student based economy Community Service: Arrange class-based community projects and encourage involvement in community service outside of school. Gardening & Cooking: Teach students about plants, nutrition, and basic cooking skills through a school garden. Literacy & Reading: Develop a reading program that exposes students to a variety of genres. Writing can begin with simple sentences. History: Teach history from a holistic and critical perspective, exploring different cultures and perspectives. Basic Medicine & First Aid: Introduce simple health, hygiene, and basic first aid skills. Physical Education: Encourage a love for physical activity through a variety of engaging games. Emotional Regulation & Healthy Relationships with Technology: Incorporate social-emotional learning and healthy technology use. Leadership: Begin fostering leadership qualities through group activities and responsibility sharing. Self-Defense: Introduce basic safety rules and personal boundaries. Spanish: Introduce basic Spanish vocabulary and phrases, along with exposure to the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. Songs, games, and interactive activities can be used to make learning enjoyable.
Middle School: Coding, Digital Literacy & Practical Engineering: Continue coding education and introduce robotics and basic electronics. Financial Literacy: Start teaching about budgeting, banking, and simple concepts of earning. Potential to introduce the use of real currency and creating student based economy Community Service: Encourage students to plan and lead community service projects, either in groups or individually. Gardening & Cooking: Progress in gardening and cooking skills, introducing sustainability issues. Literacy, Reading, & Writing Skills: Increase complexity of reading and writing assignments. History: Provide more in-depth history education using primary sources and interpretations. Basic Medicine & First Aid: Offer a more detailed course on first aid and health. Physical Education: Introduce a range of physical activities, sports, and body awareness topics. Emotional Regulation & Healthy Relationships with Technology: Develop emotional intelligence skills, mindfulness practices, and education about responsible technology use. Leadership: Teach various leadership styles and emphasize group projects requiring delegation and decision-making. Self-Defense: Continue with more practical self-defense techniques. Study of Government: Begin a foundational study of the local and national government. Teach students about the branches of government, their roles, and how laws are made. Spanish: Continue to build on vocabulary and grammar learned in elementary school. Introduce simple written exercises and encourage basic conversation in Spanish.
High School: Coding, Digital Literacy & Practical Engineering: Offer advanced coding and practical engineering classes, including topics like 3D modeling and advanced electronics.Teach more advanced cybersecurity concepts and ethics of digital communication Gardening & Cooking: As elective courses, delve into advanced topics like food science or agricultural technology. Literacy, Reading, & Writing Skills: Offer a variety of literature courses, creative writing classes, and research-based writing. History: Teach history as a dynamic and interpretive subject, encouraging critical thinking. Basic Medicine & First Aid: Include more advanced first aid, mental health awareness, and basic human anatomy and physiology. Physical Education: Offer a range of athletic options, and include education about exercise science and long-term health benefits. Emotional Regulation & Healthy Relationships with Technology: Provide resources for emotional regulation, advanced mindfulness techniques, and in-depth discussions about technology's role in society. Leadership: Delve deeper into conflict resolution, strategic planning, and ethical leadership, often through real-world applications. Financial Literacy: Start teaching about budgeting, banking, and simple concepts of earning. Potential to encourage student to start their own business or get a job and have students buy things from each other Self-Defense/Mixed Martial Arts: For interested students, offer elective classes in mixed martial arts, fostering physical and mental skills. Study of Government: Expand on knowledge from middle school and introduce international government systems. Discuss the concepts of democracy, socialism, and other forms of government. Involve students in mock debates and simulations, like Model United Nations or Mock Parliament. Study of Politics: Begin a course on political science, covering key political ideologies, parties, and political processes. Discuss current events and involve students in debates and discussions to encourage critical thinking. Creating Change: Introduce a course on social activism and creating change. This can involve studying historical movements for change, understanding how to effect change within a legal framework, learning about peaceful protest, and planning and implementing a small-scale change project within the school or community. Spanish: Continue to deepen knowledge of Spanish. Encourage advanced conversation and written exercises. Students could read Spanish literature or news and discuss in class, fostering language skills and cultural understanding.
This kind of curriculum would be nearly the best, being interdisciplinary, hands-on, and centered around the interests and needs of the students. It would aim to not only equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the world, but also ignite their passion for learning and encourage them to continue learning throughout their lives.
But before we’re done one last thing must be covered. How to assess a student's growth because science shows that paper tests are not suited for the task. There are many innovative ways to assess student understanding and skills without relying solely on traditional exams. The methods that could be used include Assessment Methods
Portfolios: Students could compile portfolios of their work, which could include code they've written, projects they've completed, or essays they've written. A portfolio allows students to demonstrate their learning process, their progress over time, and their ability to apply what they've learned in different contexts.
Presentations: Students can demonstrate their understanding of a topic by presenting on it. This could involve presenting a project they've completed, explaining a concept to the class, or debating a topic with classmates.
Peer and Self-Assessment: Students can learn a lot from assessing each other's work or their own work. This can help them develop a better understanding of the assessment criteria and improve their ability to critically evaluate work.
Performance Assessment: In subjects like self-defense, physical education, cooking, or gardening, students could be assessed based on their performance. This could involve demonstrating a technique, completing a task, or participating in a game or competition.
Reflective Journals: Students could maintain journals where they reflect on what they've learned, how they've applied it, and what they still want to understand better. This can give teachers insight into a student's thought process and their understanding of the subject.
Project-Based Assessment: Students can be assessed on the projects they complete, whether individually or in groups. This allows students to demonstrate a range of skills, including knowledge of the subject, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork.
Community Service Assessment: In addition to the other assessments, teachers can assess students' community service involvement, their planning and leadership skills, as well as their reflections on their experiences.
The emphasis of Knowledge Management Techniques and Memory Techniques in core classes as a standalone session every day would ideally give students a break from traditional instruction and allow them to process and manage their learnings. This can be in the form of group discussions, independent reflection time, or guided activities for planning and organizing their work.

2024.05.19 04:06 BrunoRubim_ I made my first card game and put it on TTS workshop!

Hi! I'm Bruno and for 5 years now I decided that I wanted to be a game designer, and now I finished my first ever fully original card game! It's a multiplayer game where you and your friends attack each other with silly, funny and stupid items to try to be the last one alive. I tested it with many friends and they all seemed to really like it and have a good time, even ones that are very new to card games with more choices more meaningful than uno. There are 2 versions, one for 2 players and one for 3-6 players. It is still being developed, the card art is just pictures of the phisical cards and the rules aren't super finalized, but please if you can take a look and tell me your thoughts I'd appreciate it to death!

PLEASE HELP! Load Order!
Hey everyone, I'm kind of needing a break from life right now because my grandma and dad have been in the hospital and I'm just wanting to have fun on Fallout but my OCD self absolutely hates that I don't have the best load order. We also just got the news of my dad having cancer so that's always fun. Anyways, I know about the load order guide but it's tremendously hard to understand it right now. I'm not sure if it's due to me getting no sleep due to all of the emergencies or my migraine or my ADHD. Probably all of it. Anyways, I know it is a tremendously large longshot but I would highly appreciate it if someone either taught me in a digestible way or (if it's easy for you) put it in the correct order. Thank you for reading this if you are reading it. I know this is different but I also know how all of you understand gaming as an escape. Love you guys and thank you once again!
Note #1: I also am aware that there might be a bunch of useless stuff in here or stuff that might interfere with other mods. I would appreciate those that could help create the perfect load order!
Note #2: If you have any mods that could replace any mods I have because they are superior please let me know that as well!
Note #3: I also am having camera issues after using the Cover Mod (specifically camera issues in third person).
Note #4: I also attached as many photos as I could but I couldn't fit everything in the photos so I took the time to type it too! Want to make it as easy as possible for you guys as well!

2024.05.19 02:39 thesnarble Am I cooked?

I downloaded a very interesting unit from the workshop and now my game crashes anytime I go into the unit section of custom content. Is there a solution for this?

2024.05.19 02:11 wileybot Request for newbie

This is a wonderfully intricate game. I have only been playing for awhile but was wondering if someone has some suggestions to make this more of a survivalist game. I know this is intended to be sandbox game (I can find conversation similar to this one) but I struggle in staying motivated. Any workshop mods for a player who needs more direction? Maybe it's just not for me and my playstyle. Thank you in advance.
