2024.05.19 09:39 Nightyboi314 Just want to make sure I’m not wasting my money.

I usually just take vitamin c and vitamin d3 and fish oil. Now I’m adding some stuff and also switching to a different brand and just wanna hear opinions. To note, I have a vitamin D deficiency.
Vitamin D and K from Sports Research L-Theanine + Caffeine from Sports Research Elderberry from Sports Research B Complex from sports research KSM 66 Ashwaganda, Tongkat Ali, Shilajit all from Nootropics Lions Mane and Cordyceps from Real Mushroom
Now with the research I conducted these are quality brands and everything I picked out seemed to have high praise with most people. But just wanted to see if anyone had any comments. Everything has a purpose for me taking it, not just taking for shits a giggles if you will. Hoping these will help better certain aspect of my life but I am fully aware vitamins can only do so much and sometimes modern medicine must intervene.

Is Sean Kirkpatrick part of The Program? And that's why he took the role at AARO to say it doesn't exist?
I've been running this idea in my head over and over the past week or so after deciding to look at Sean Kirkpatrick's bio as Director of AARO based on his CV history and the now-infamous photo of him in the 2018 meeting that was leaked by Brandon Fugal of Skinwalker Ranch that Kirkpatrick claimed in his interview with Stephen Greenestreet he didn't attend.
You can find a copy of that bio here.
I couldn't put anything together until I saw the below tweet from Klaus on X/Twitter via his Patterns Tell Stories Podcast handle from almost two weeks ago taken from an official OSTI.gov document. OSTI is the U.S. Department of EnergyvOffice of Scientific and Technical Information.
Here is the abstract, which states:
The International Biological and Chemical Threat Reduction Program at Sandia National Laboratories is developing a 15 - year technology road map in support the United States Government efforts to reduce international chemical and biological dangers . In 2017, the program leadership chartered an analysis team to explore dangers in the future international chemical and biological landscape through engagements with national security experts within and beyond Sandia to gain a multidisciplinary perspective on the future . This report offers a high level landscape of future chemical and biological dangers based upon analysis of those engagements and provides support for further technology road map development.
The link for the abstract above will also take you to a 35-page report. Here are its Table of Contents.

Here are his job titles taken from his bio:
Dr. Kirkpatrick began his career in Defense and Intelligence related science and technology immediately out of graduate school. After receiving his Ph.D. in Physics in 1995, he subsequently took a postdoctoral position at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, investigating laser-induced molecular vibrations of high explosives under an AFOSR program.
(AFOSR is the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. This is their website.)
In 1996, he was offered a National Research Council Fellowship at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington D.C. investigating novel solid-state lasers for the Department of the Navy.
In 1997, he was recruited by the Air Force Research Laboratory to build an Ultrafast Laser Physics Lab to investigate nonlinear optics, novel ultrafast spectroscopic methods, and nonlinear micro/nano-fabrication techniques for the Air Force.
In 2003 he was offered a program manager position in the National Reconnaissance Office, and converted to CIA in 2005.
In 2007, he was assigned as Chief Technology Officer in a joint CIA-DIA program office, where he later became division chief as a DIA officer. (I think this might be where Grusch's comments in the video below come into play.)
In 2010 he was asked to serve as the space control portfolio manager for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Space and Intelligence, Office of the Secretary of Defense.
(Christopher Mellon worked for the Office of the Secretary of Defense from January 1997 to December 2002.)
In 2012 he returned to DIA, and served as the Defense Intelligence Officer for Scientific and Technical Intelligence, serving as the Department of Defense’s counterpart to the National Intelligence Manager for Science and Technology until 2016. Towards the end of his tenure as DIO/S&TI, Dr. Kirkpatrick served on special assignment to the Principal Deputy Director National Intelligence leading the Intelligence Community’s support to the Joint Interagency Combined Space Operations Center.
From 2016 to his current assignment, Dr. Kirkpatrick served in a variety of no-fail roles including Deputy Director of Intelligence, US Strategic Command;
Director, National Security Strategy, National Security Council;
Deputy Director of Intelligence and the DNI Representative for USSPACECOM. The USSPACECOM Intelligence Enterprise was the fifth organization he has been the IC lead for establishment.
His most recent assignment was as Chief Scientist at DIA’s Missile and Space Intelligence Center.
After retiring as the Director of AARO, Kirkpatrick immediately went to the Oak Ridge Laboratory, which, along with Wright-Patterson and Area 51, is directly at the heart of the UFO history and mystery.
Here is his bio listed at Oak Ridge's website.

2024.05.19 06:28 heyyvanityy Will I pass my drug test for weed for a govt. internship?

So I recently accepted an internship at a government facility that will do a drug test, likely on May 28th. I stopped smoking on 4/20, or when I received the offer letter informing me of the test. I’m excited about this opportunity & I don’t want it to go to waste (honestly, I really should’ve stopped sooner, it was dumb of me to keep smoking). Weed is the only drug I use that stays in my urine for long enough to appear on the test.
I have been drinking a lot of liquids, however I am pretty big (5’8, ~180lb, male, fairly sedentary) and was a heavy smokeedible user (however I cut down after a scare with potential CHS). I’ve done a fair bit of research, and considering that the job has a on-site urine analysis station & is a government job, I quickly decided that using fake urine probably wasn’t the best play (although I am not entirely against the idea). While I could use a couple of detox drinks, that also might be risky considering that they might be able to detect it in my system.
I’ve found a few posts suggesting detoxing with watecreatine/vitamin B, but I’m a bit unsure/scared of if it’ll work considering my weight and my previous history of using weed.
I guess what I’m asking here is - what should I do?

2024.05.19 05:36 BabbleMabble Blood tests

Hi all! I have the MTHFR A1298C heterozygous mutation. I read that being heterozygous doesn’t necessarily mean you need methylated B vitamins. What are the blood tests you need to get to determine if you need supplements?
Many year ago I was taking a small dose B12 vitamin and my B12 levels ended up really high, like more than double the max level in the range. Last year, I was on a prenatal vitamin that had folate and my folate levels were really high. I’m now wondering if this is related to MTHFR.
Also, I have been taking 5mg of Zyrtec and I recently increased it to 10mg and had a lot of anxiety and intrusive thoughts. It went away when I went back to 5mg. But I’m also wondering if this could be related to MTHFR.
If anyone has any thoughts or advice, I’d really appreciate it!

2024.05.19 05:03 Local-Ad7135 DMC style combat meets Borderlands leveling system and level design

The premise is is the title. DMC meets Borderlands. Let me explain.
The game is a 3rd person action game with similar controls to DMC, but but but but, it has RPG elements, and weapon drops. It's "open world" having big open areas you load into, but it isn't entirely all one connected world with a single over world (like how borderlands does it).
You're character would explore each zone and do questst and side quests for characters in that area until you unlock a new area, which you'd repeat this process.
Each class would have its own skills trees, weapons categories they can equip (EX: Sword, spear, hammer, etc). The skill tree contains active and passive skills to purchase and upgrade. The active skills must be equip, the player would use the D-Pad to activate them.
The player can learn new combos, but classes that use sword would share the same sword combos, this applies to all the weapon categories. Each class has two weapon categories they can use, so each would have a unique combination.
While every weapon type shares combos, that is entirely true, legendaries can modify how certain combos work. For instance, the base combo X, X, (Pause), X will always do the same combo, but legendary weapons can modify what that action does, allowing for unique combos. Like DMC the player has moves associated with (lock-on) tap forward, X. Which can also change with legendary gear.
Each class has three individual trees they have: Weapon Tree, Skill Tree, Style Tree
Weapon Tree: Gain technique points to unlock new weapon combos and skills as well as unique abilities, this unique skill is based on the class you choose. (Example: Circle (PlayStation) would be your unique maneuver. Similar to Dante's Sword Master or Gunslinger, except this unique skill would be based on your class. And evolves through this.
Skill Tree: The player gains skill points used to unlock and upgrades passives and active skills. Active skills would have cool downs, similar to action skills from borderlands, they can be simple such as shooting off fireballs, or they can be complex and change your basic combo routes. Alternatively, a characters unique action could be in their skill tree instead, potentially allowing them to unlock new unique skills which could be toggles in the D-Pad.
Style Tree: This feels more like skills you unlock through leveling up and you'd choose which best fits your build, essentially the player can activate an ability, but under the condition the player has a certain rank (D,C,B,A,S ,SS,SSS) When they press the ability button it will trigger a special powerful attack, the higher the rank, the more powerful the attack, after using this skill naturally it has a cool down. So it's best to wait to use it. Originally I thought that this would only be for one class, but if style is a huge element all character should have access to such a skill.
This game would also be Co-op but could be ran solo. This sounds like a fun game I'd wanna play. Could you imagine doing combos with the boys and unlocking sweet new weapons for your character? Flip yeah

2024.05.19 04:28 Meta_Gamer_42 A New Way to Educate

Exploration of an Innovative K-12 School Curriculum and Pedagogical Approaches
Before going over the curriculum we must first discuss how to best teach. All of the following methods outlined below are what would I would suggest be use to teach the students trying to use just one or even just two of these would not be enough and would compromise the students learning and education
Teaching Methods
Project-Based Learning (PBL): In PBL, students work on a project over an extended period, which could be a week or a month, to respond to a complex question, problem, or challenge. The projects are usually multi-disciplinary and require students to apply what they've learned in a practical manner. This allows them to see the immediate applicability of their learning.
Inquiry-Based Learning: This is a form of active learning that starts by posing questions, problems, or scenarios—rather than simply presenting established facts or portraying a smooth path to knowledge. Students are involved in the construction of their learning. They engage with the material, participate in the class, and collaborate with each other.
Gamification: Incorporating elements of game design in education can make learning fun and engaging. This can involve point systems, leaderboards, badges, or other game mechanics.
Experiential Learning: This method involves learning by doing and reflecting on the experience. It can include internships, study abroad programs, field trips, laboratory experiments, or any other hands-on learning experiences.
Flipped Classroom: In a flipped classroom, students review lecture materials at home and do their 'homework' in class, where they can ask for help as they practice new skills and apply new knowledge. This allows teachers to spend class time helping students apply what they've learned and coaching them as they work through challenges.
Cross-Disciplinary Projects: By integrating different disciplines into a single project, you can make the learning experience more holistic and interconnected, much like how the knowledge of different magical disciplines would combine in a fantasy setting.
Competency-Based Learning: In this educational model, students advance upon mastering a skill or a competency. This encourages active utilization of knowledge and immediate feedback, similar to how a magic student might advance only after successfully casting a particular spell.
Now that we have given a basic outline of the teaching styles we can go over the curriculum for K-12 the idea would be to Have an A/B day schedule and some classes would meet less frequently because they don't take much time to cover everything, all of this will be done in order to create well rounded students, people and citizens. They are not only creative in nature, but leaders in their own right as well as capable of doing whatever they desire and succeeding wildly
Core Curriculum Classes:
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics): must Ensure these subjects are covered both within the integrated curriculum (like coding in math, cooking in science, history in art, etc.) and as standalone classes to develop depth of knowledge.
Memory Techniques & Knowledge Management Techniques: Using an Integrated code based system with AI tools to help teacher track progress and provide more targeted assistance as well as help students with how to effectively organize and manage knowledge, covering basic note-taking, the PARA/CODE system. Using AI to provide semi interactive sessions that not only explain how memory works but also actively encourage the practice of using the note taking method & memory techniques
Project-Based Learning: Encourage practical application of knowledge through project-based learning. Gamification & Experiential Learning: Use these techniques to make learning more engaging and fun.
Flipped Classroom & Inquiry-Based Learning: Encourage independent learning and critical thinking through these teaching methods.
Elementary School: Coding & Digital Literacy: Introduce basic coding principles using visual coding platforms. Begin teaching about online safety and basic cybersecurity. Financial Literacy: Teach basic concepts like the value of money, saving, and spending. Potential to introduce the use of real currency and creating student based economy Community Service: Arrange class-based community projects and encourage involvement in community service outside of school. Gardening & Cooking: Teach students about plants, nutrition, and basic cooking skills through a school garden. Literacy & Reading: Develop a reading program that exposes students to a variety of genres. Writing can begin with simple sentences. History: Teach history from a holistic and critical perspective, exploring different cultures and perspectives. Basic Medicine & First Aid: Introduce simple health, hygiene, and basic first aid skills. Physical Education: Encourage a love for physical activity through a variety of engaging games. Emotional Regulation & Healthy Relationships with Technology: Incorporate social-emotional learning and healthy technology use. Leadership: Begin fostering leadership qualities through group activities and responsibility sharing. Self-Defense: Introduce basic safety rules and personal boundaries. Spanish: Introduce basic Spanish vocabulary and phrases, along with exposure to the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. Songs, games, and interactive activities can be used to make learning enjoyable.
Middle School: Coding, Digital Literacy & Practical Engineering: Continue coding education and introduce robotics and basic electronics. Financial Literacy: Start teaching about budgeting, banking, and simple concepts of earning. Potential to introduce the use of real currency and creating student based economy Community Service: Encourage students to plan and lead community service projects, either in groups or individually. Gardening & Cooking: Progress in gardening and cooking skills, introducing sustainability issues. Literacy, Reading, & Writing Skills: Increase complexity of reading and writing assignments. History: Provide more in-depth history education using primary sources and interpretations. Basic Medicine & First Aid: Offer a more detailed course on first aid and health. Physical Education: Introduce a range of physical activities, sports, and body awareness topics. Emotional Regulation & Healthy Relationships with Technology: Develop emotional intelligence skills, mindfulness practices, and education about responsible technology use. Leadership: Teach various leadership styles and emphasize group projects requiring delegation and decision-making. Self-Defense: Continue with more practical self-defense techniques. Study of Government: Begin a foundational study of the local and national government. Teach students about the branches of government, their roles, and how laws are made. Spanish: Continue to build on vocabulary and grammar learned in elementary school. Introduce simple written exercises and encourage basic conversation in Spanish.
High School: Coding, Digital Literacy & Practical Engineering: Offer advanced coding and practical engineering classes, including topics like 3D modeling and advanced electronics.Teach more advanced cybersecurity concepts and ethics of digital communication Gardening & Cooking: As elective courses, delve into advanced topics like food science or agricultural technology. Literacy, Reading, & Writing Skills: Offer a variety of literature courses, creative writing classes, and research-based writing. History: Teach history as a dynamic and interpretive subject, encouraging critical thinking. Basic Medicine & First Aid: Include more advanced first aid, mental health awareness, and basic human anatomy and physiology. Physical Education: Offer a range of athletic options, and include education about exercise science and long-term health benefits. Emotional Regulation & Healthy Relationships with Technology: Provide resources for emotional regulation, advanced mindfulness techniques, and in-depth discussions about technology's role in society. Leadership: Delve deeper into conflict resolution, strategic planning, and ethical leadership, often through real-world applications. Financial Literacy: Start teaching about budgeting, banking, and simple concepts of earning. Potential to encourage student to start their own business or get a job and have students buy things from each other Self-Defense/Mixed Martial Arts: For interested students, offer elective classes in mixed martial arts, fostering physical and mental skills. Study of Government: Expand on knowledge from middle school and introduce international government systems. Discuss the concepts of democracy, socialism, and other forms of government. Involve students in mock debates and simulations, like Model United Nations or Mock Parliament. Study of Politics: Begin a course on political science, covering key political ideologies, parties, and political processes. Discuss current events and involve students in debates and discussions to encourage critical thinking. Creating Change: Introduce a course on social activism and creating change. This can involve studying historical movements for change, understanding how to effect change within a legal framework, learning about peaceful protest, and planning and implementing a small-scale change project within the school or community. Spanish: Continue to deepen knowledge of Spanish. Encourage advanced conversation and written exercises. Students could read Spanish literature or news and discuss in class, fostering language skills and cultural understanding.
This kind of curriculum would be nearly the best, being interdisciplinary, hands-on, and centered around the interests and needs of the students. It would aim to not only equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the world, but also ignite their passion for learning and encourage them to continue learning throughout their lives.
But before we’re done one last thing must be covered. How to assess a student's growth because science shows that paper tests are not suited for the task. There are many innovative ways to assess student understanding and skills without relying solely on traditional exams. The methods that could be used include Assessment Methods
Portfolios: Students could compile portfolios of their work, which could include code they've written, projects they've completed, or essays they've written. A portfolio allows students to demonstrate their learning process, their progress over time, and their ability to apply what they've learned in different contexts.
Presentations: Students can demonstrate their understanding of a topic by presenting on it. This could involve presenting a project they've completed, explaining a concept to the class, or debating a topic with classmates.
Peer and Self-Assessment: Students can learn a lot from assessing each other's work or their own work. This can help them develop a better understanding of the assessment criteria and improve their ability to critically evaluate work.
Performance Assessment: In subjects like self-defense, physical education, cooking, or gardening, students could be assessed based on their performance. This could involve demonstrating a technique, completing a task, or participating in a game or competition.
Reflective Journals: Students could maintain journals where they reflect on what they've learned, how they've applied it, and what they still want to understand better. This can give teachers insight into a student's thought process and their understanding of the subject.
Project-Based Assessment: Students can be assessed on the projects they complete, whether individually or in groups. This allows students to demonstrate a range of skills, including knowledge of the subject, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork.
Community Service Assessment: In addition to the other assessments, teachers can assess students' community service involvement, their planning and leadership skills, as well as their reflections on their experiences.
The emphasis of Knowledge Management Techniques and Memory Techniques in core classes as a standalone session every day would ideally give students a break from traditional instruction and allow them to process and manage their learnings. This can be in the form of group discussions, independent reflection time, or guided activities for planning and organizing their work.

My box arrived this afternoon-box itself smashed but the product all in good order! Here are my thoughts.
Ipsy Picks One Size blush trio: I got the pink one, and it is not as bright as I thought. There is a shimmer, a matte, and a cream. The shimmer is not greatly pigmented, but the others are. I just like brighter instead of the light cool toned pink that this is. Especially as I have summer tan already...
Nue Company fragrance: They say this is "functional fragrance". To me, it just smells like a standard mens cologne. I need to add a little tuberose on top to make it me, ya know.
Kosas lash/brow serum: I'll give this a try on my brows, but I'm leery of any lash enhancer.
One Size liquid liner: I appreciate the design with the grip, as with my makeup routine some things aren't the easiest to open when it gets to that place in the order. Also, it's VERY fine. Not the bright bright blue I prefer but it will be good to have in the arsenal.
Benefit face masque: I am up to my ears in masques but I'm excited to give this a try-I used the Benefit primer years ago and liked it.
My Picks Aarvani hair oil: I'm actually testing this right now-I don't like how I feel the dropper doesn't pick up a ton of product. I love hair oil, though.
Byroe basil cream: I love Byroe. I have a lot of Byroe, and with aging and the sun I need to handle these dark spots. Somehow.
Kosas lip treatment: I don't get the plumping, but I'd love to see if it will get me consistent hydration and softening results.
Beauty Boost Byroe pumpkin cream: I'm backlogged in moisturizer also, however the retinol made this appeal to me.
Add on was the blue liner pencil, which I currently use daily.

2024.05.19 03:35 katelynt3202 SUCCESS! Ferritin 10 to 138 in 5 months

My ferritin was at 10 in December 2023, I have since brought it up to 138 as of May 10th 2024. I took a behind the counter supplement from Walgreens, it's called "Iron Polysaccharide Complex Capsules" from Westminster pharmaceuticals. It's 150mg as elemental iron. I took it with 500mg of vitamin C. I took it for 2 days in a row then 1 day off. I also took it before bed or right when I woke up (avoiding food or coffee within an hour or two of taking).

2024.05.19 03:16 Affectionate_Poet280 A New Way to Explain How a Model Works

I was explaining my personal project (creating a Variational Autoencoder for raw audio as a core for several audio models I need) to someone, and they were a bit confused about how AI works in general. I realized that simplifying it with a relatable example might help.
Think back to high school when you learned how to find a function from data. For instance:
Imagine you have an object thrown into the air, and you record its height at different points in time. With this data, you can create a parabolic function that approximates the object's height at any given moment. In mathematical terms, this function is a model that predicts the height based on time.
Now, think of AI training in a similar way, but with more complexity. Training an AI model is essentially finding a function that fits a lot of data with many variables. Instead of just height and time, an AI model might use thousands or even millions of data points and parameters.
In the case of the parabolic function, you determine the coefficients (a, b, and c) that best fit your data. For AI, the process involves adjusting many parameters through linear algebra and statistics to find the best fit. The training method is guided by algorithms that optimize these parameters to minimize errors, similar to how you'd minimize the difference between your parabolic function and the actual data points.
So, while the analogy isn't perfect, it helps to understand that AI models are just complex functions derived from data (not just compression, or a search function), much like how you derived the parabolic function from the height and time data.
It won't resonate with everyone, especially since many people only use basic arithmetic (+-*/), but I hope this explanation helps those who haven't had their "aha" moment with other explanations.

2024.05.19 03:09 EthylMertz When the petty fails to hit

Full disclosure this was more a failed attempt at pettiness than actual wedding drama. It was the late 80's. My then fiance and I were invited to a Hawaiian themed wedding reception at a condo complex rec center. The couple had already tied the knot in Hawaii, thus the theme. The groom and my fiance were buddies. I had met the bride before and we got along fine, but we were not what you would call friends. I went out and found a pretty pink Hawaiian floral strapless dress for myself and a nice peach colored shirt for my fiance. I knew the dress was a bit sexy, maybe too sexy, but I was 24. I would never consider myself a great beauty, but I was not completely unfortunate in the looks department back then. Besides, the only other option had been a MooMoo. Yuck! I did wear a little white bolero sweater for covering up to the reception but it was summer, so I eventually took that off. I've always been busty and I had nice figure then. The girls and I rocked that dress!! I didn't really know anyone there, so I stayed close to my fiance. I don't recall dancing and was most likely not drinking because I had to drive. We basically just stood off to the side socializing. I did notice some guys seemed to be lurking close by, but by no means was I behaving in any way to draw the attention away from the bride who looked lovely on her day. Several months later it was my wedding day. Of course they were invited. She shows up with her B-cup bust pushed up as high as she possibly could. I'm not even sure how she managed it. Tape maybe? I knew immediately she was being petty, but I found it more humerous than anything else. I told her she looked great and thanked them for coming and then went on to have a great wedding, with great food, joined by my great friends. My marriage didn't last, but I got two awesome kids out of it. My youngest will be 30 soon.
