I am not sure if this is even the proper plave to post it but here I go. I just got rejected because I own a house on my own.
We matched on a dating app this afternoon and she actually sent the first message, I was rather exited because that doesnt happen often, if at all. We had an amazing conversation untill we hit the topic of housing, she lives on her own in a rental building and I own a house, about 40km apart.
Then she sent me the message that just crushed my hopes and dreams, not just woth her but basically at all. She told me she doesn't want to date someone with his own house because what if they break up, then she has nothing (parents and other familie of her are no-contact).
I just feel defeated, just when I thought I had my life in order, stable income, own house emand car etc. Life strikes you down again.
Is there even a step forward at this point, how do I deal with this and feel free to share similar experiences please?

First of all, let me clear out a few things.

• I'm not a stan of any contestant and I'll try not to have a bias towards anyone while i post this.
• I'm not criticising anyone for their personality but mostly for their hypocritical actions & words which is negatively impacting the show and majorly spoiling the vibes.

• I'll state the good points too which i like about everybody. The neagtives & the positives keep changing with every epsisode. So this is limited to what is up so far.
• I'll keep the content limited to what i see in episodes as i don't follow the recent insta controversies much.

Siwet : - Avoids situations & conversations and try to avoid any actual blames with some past stories or fake sympathies. - Always up for fighting people in dome and get aggressive which is sooo overdone. - Let Anica speak ffs! - Call yourself a "performer" only when you actually perform ! - "Addy tune baakiyo ko pitch ki toh tujhe nahi liya" Wtf bro ?

• He tries to respect bonds, goes on a limb to save Aniket & Ayushman as much as he could. Did addy dirty a couple of times though.
• Although everybody plans and plots, but plays game on face more than other contestants rather than hiding behind.

Anica : - Stop victimising yourself so much that your emotions start looking washed out. - Grow out of the dependant personality. - "Brooo" and the 🤌🏻🤌🏻 are irritating af.

• Haven't fucked up any task as such.
• She doesn't bitch any wrong things about Lakshay and tries to maintain good relations which i find nice.

Digvijay : - Stop with the hypocrisy! "Mai toh bolunga beech me" & "mere beech me mat bol" is plane stupid. - Although all ex-roadies & TRP contestants are getting majorly favoured, but his looks very clear with the out of nowhere saves & unfair ideal match contender when he was literally standing unsafe. - Stop using your friends (nayera to save, then demotivating her for dome which was logically right but could have been said subtly) (Gullu to write his name and then dumping her) (Akriti to save him and not sending her to den which i really loved tho XD ) - However true it maybe as well know, but calling out Prince to de-justify any other's spot was just purely out of jealousy and spite when he literally tried to do the same in roadies and outside.

• Plays game straight forward out of all the others.
• Beast performer
• Good at logics and strategies (asking Nayera not to go to the dome which almost eliminated Sachin if not for the twist) ik i contradicted myself but he could have talked it out better.
• Never said anything wrong about his ex.

Unnati : - although almost all the couples are fake and were pre-planned but having a bf outside and still coming to the show is a big NO NO ! - stop being so insecure dragging ishita in everything needs to stop when digvijay & ishita are literally showing no affections to each other (although i get the emotions & bringing exes was the whole point of this but still) - Crybaby over having no friends what?!

• Chose a good partner is all i can say lol.

Addy : - STOP flexing your steroids , losing temper every two seconds. - Grow a spine, "mai kabhi task nahi karunga iske saath" to "meri marzi mai jo karu"

• Might turn out to be a good performer in strength based task, haven't had any yet.
• Having survived so far and would survive further which is expected despite being all this stupidity, I'll count as a plus idk xD

Kashish : - Stop being so horny all the time ffs, it's soo cringe. - This fake sophisticated queen aura needs to be stopped.

• Doesn't fear to call out people . Be it akriti , yuvraj or even his own connection sometimes.
• Good performer so far.
• vamp vibes me likey.

Lakshay : - Same as unnati, having a gf and coming to the show is a NO NO for me. - Again like addy, stop making diggy papa and grow a spine. (Asking for chances to save and then giving them to diggy taking others for a fool) - However bitter your past relation maybe, but don't let Diggy disrespect your ex infront of you or everyone when you say you respect her. - Speak more bruh.

• Most well mannered among any other guy. Calm minded, lets people speak to the point of literally getting walked over.
• Haven't spoke shit about any people in the game.
• Supports his friends.

Ruru : - Unneccessary baseless shouting in last dome was such a turn off exactly like Divyansh.

• Tough mentality.
• Nice vibes , cute.

Sachin : - Literally a dumb character, lost half of the times, fucks up tasks . - cries more than needed ( he was done dirty in the court room tho) - Confused with connections and goes for the ones which makes no sense ( like deekila who was already messed up with aniket & even the personalities are so poles apart) . good that he finally paired up now. - Either defend your connection or just call her out for her fuckup, don't try to play both sides. (court room digvijay i love you drama)

• Genuine overall. Tries to maintain good relations with everyone and does less groupism than other people.
• Sweet & gonna rock in dance & entertainment & town-market wale tasks (if there any) probably.

Akriti : - Most cringe contestant of the whole show. - Majorly favoured by the show be it ideal match or screentime or VDs. - Crybaby max. Cry over sachin, cry over diggy allegations, cry over not being able to go to Loveden, cry over people calling her put and i can go on. - stop speaking in between everybody ffs. (she does it way far more than siwet & diggy) - Stop acting like a queen ffs it's so cringe. - stop with your "Maine aapko favour kiya aap mujhe favour lautao" . mat karo bhai favour fir . - Acts like a mastermind by saving diggy and then crying about it and bringing it up everytime.

• favours friends which is good in splitsvilla ig? (throwing hearts wala task where everybody was trying to show themselves neutral just for screen)
• understands vote in , vote outs and numbers game a little better.

Jashwant : - Stop with haan-ji, correct , ekdum sahi, bilkul, agreed and have your own opinions. - Stop with the cringe romantic one liners . - Speak more bruh (but speak sensible) and speak for yourself. You're not your partners' ambassador.

• Good genes lol
• Laidback, chill.

Nayera : - Stop milking your 2 day fling for such drama and sympathy (although it was need of the show and she finally got over it but still) - Stop crying and showing how you got hurt & ruined and then call it chewing gum and stuff. double standards.

• Goes out on a limb for friends. Values relations over playing double sides.
• Beast performer.

Harsh : - Most cringe contestant after Akriti. Stop with this King-Queen bullshit. - Stop acting like you're playing neutral when you're actually playing both sides (dono side jaake chugli karna) - Stop hyping up yourself as morally correct using feminism and fairness. (court room , tasks and dome votes)

• Somehow gets the best girls wtf

Rushali : - What a poor choice of guy lol + Elegant. Well behaved. Carries herself well. Dresses beautifully and talks graciously.
Shobhika - Again, having a bf and coming to the show ? NOPE. - Cried when called out by yuvraj and legit ran away from the set? - Does nothing and is basically female ayushman lol.

• somehow has the best friends to save her everytime.
• chill, laidback, cute .

Ishita : - Going and fighting to stand between Diggy and unnati in ex-isle was so weird to watch (although she was been told by uorfi)

• Nice personality overall. always respects diggy and never bitches about him.

Yuvraj : - Does he really understand the concept of the show? You have to make a connection to move forward lol.

• Dresses cool. Genuine and great personality and styling sense.
• Most chill and laidback (after lord Rigden ofcourse)

Adit : - Please grow a spine and stop having a herd mentality. - not fit for the politics and the dirties of the show.

• Great vibes, pretty chill, funny.

Khanak: - Stop following the herd mentality again. - Despite even knowing the other connections are fake and theirs are genuine, it somehow seems faker than the others?

• Carries herself well.
• Gives proper sophisticated NRI vibes (unlike kashish & shobhika. idk if they're for sure)

Ameha : - Idk. speak more? hide less. + Cutest of all. Dresses and carries herself well. + Most bearable nepali contestant amongst all. (it has nothing to do with race. it just how she carries herself better than the rest)
Devakaran : - speak more , hide less in crowd maybe ? + Old school gentlemen vibes.
Arbaaz : - Being married and coming to the show? NOPEEEE. - Romance is so dead and fake . cringe.

• No drama . Speaks as much needed and somehow still not hides in the crowd and have a more opinionated stand than adit & devkaran.

Aniket : - Major toxicity alert! Messed up relationship, mean vibes and much controlling. + Maintains calm even when provoked . Tries not to involve people in his messed up connection (his fuckups actually) .
Deekila : - Dependant personality pro max. - Irritating to the ears once she starts shouting. + Forgiving aniket after whatver was revealed to us is the only truth takes heart and if she takes step to fix it , it's heartening to see. (although it's toxic and wrong but still)
Lastly, i feel like this calling out was much needed. Akriti hate on this sub is justified, Digvijay worshipping is going too much and needs to be called out for his hypocrisy but i think is this sub is filled with his insta supporters now, dewangini-divyansh stupidity was needed to be called out for, ayushman and rigden hype is a yesss, nayera is underrated and siwet turns his unneccessary hate into completely neccessary with each episode and instagram oustide the show. and i think people Sorry, not sorry. Feel free to add any if i missed or you don't agree to.

I have an HP Spectre x360 - 15-df1010na with windows 11 installed. I have used windows optional updates to update all the drivers etc.
I recently bought 2 styluses (1 from Aliexpress, and another from Amazon - the Metapen M2) and they both seem to have the same problem of skipping on the screen when using Adobe Fresco and also Microsoft paint. I.e. if I try to draw a straight line, there will be gaps in the line, as if there no contact with the screen at some points on the line.
Has this happened to anyone else. Any ideas on how to fix?

Hi everyone. I'm back with some more HPLC related questions, since I'm the only one in my building that does HPLC.
I have enzyme-catalyzed reactions whose components I want to analyze with reverse phase HPLC. In all the papers whose methods I'm adapting from, they don't really go into any details on how to work up your reaction before sending it through the column. My intuition tells me it's not good for the C18 column to just run a sample from the reaction through without removing the enzyme from the sample to be injected into the HPLC. Is that correct, or am I overthinking it? I know they sell guard columns that go upstream of your column to help catch large particles, is this the solution? Just buy a guard column and send my crude liquid through? Do guard columns go bad/change signal behavior with age/usage like a C18 column does? In other words, can I just find an old guard column and throw it in the pipeline or would I need to buy a new one?
Additionally, my reaction involves some insoluble substrates and products, and none of the papers that use HPLC for this reaction discuss how they dissolve insoluble reaction components before sending through the HPLC. The most detail I've seen is quenching a sample from the reaction in an equal volume of acetonitrile (also makes up 40% of the mobile phase), but even when I do this, I see visible debris in my tubes. Is there a better, more standard way of quenching a reaction at some time point in a solvent that will better dissolve my stuff? Or is this super compound specific, and I need to play around with solvents/ratios of solvents to get the best dissolution of my compounds?
Sorry for the ranty post, but essentially I'm asking if there is a super standard, every-enzymologist-knows-this type of way of 1) removing enzyme molecules from a reaction mixture before sending through the column and 2) completely dissolving compounds in some solvent that is compatable with a typical RP C18 column.

So, this has been eating away at the last few remaining braincells I have left for months, (the good news is that I should be a vegetable by noon tomorrow. yay!) ever since my account was “hacked”… I use quotes because I really don’t think they had to do much to get in. 2 point verification must mean that steam gives you 2 “rad points” for signing up, allowing them to treat your account like a house that has a “free candy” bucket on halloween… because it sure as sugar doesn’t stop theives!

What is the actual reasoning that steam gives for not reimbursing items that are stolen/traded/sold? **To be double clear, I’m not asking what the BS con artist line they feed us is when it happens, I’m basically asking what legal loophole do they use, or how can they get away without reimbursement when
A. I actually have one account (out of who knows how many involved) who was in on the theft without a doubt! Because they showed up in my friends list right before it happened, and I literally don’t accept friends I don’t know in real life… there are 3 legit people there!!! (worst case scenario, the items are digital, so they can just copy/paste)
B. the account buying has at least a 50/50 chance of being in on the theft. How could they set up a sale for items they didn’t yet have, yet sell them all within a few minutes of getting into my account?
C. So to explain above, I happened to catch my theives in real time, and there is absolutely nothing you can do to as far as contacting someone - customer service doesn’t exist, nor is there any “emergency freeze” for your account should you notice anything happening (I spammed the shiz outta them with whatever button I could find that even resembled “help”, which I think stopped a lot more loss!)
So to sum it up, I’d say there’s an insane amount of negligence on their part, and I think for over 10 years I did about as good as one could to prevent anyone in, yet it happened! Has nobody ever called the better business bureau, or tried a class action with this? Because it’s mind blowing that these con artists are #1 with how little thought they put behind 90% of their actions, and never address the most important things like security, but will sink lord knows how much money into …a store facelift?!?! Are you pulling my wang-jobber?!

Even if you don’t want to concede the difference, surely it does not escape you that I earned all of this, not just killed its old owner and stole it.

All of this, though… brings us back to you. You were sent here, presumably because you’re the kingdom’s best knight, the one with the highest chance of victory. You weren’t given any backup because there’s only one Fangbane. And you were fed a lie about me slaughtering innocents to make the job go down easier, but something in you knew that it was a lie. Tell me, am I hitting the mark with these?
So, my question becomes… why didn’t you? You had me at the point of your blade, and with a sword like that and skills like yours, you could’ve done it. If you wanted me dead, I would be, draconic magic and might notwithstanding. Instead, all I have is a scratch on my snout- {venomous} yes, that is the scar on my nose. Threats on your life, on your body, on those you protect, promises of execution, forcing you to stain your soul against your will… no. No one is permitted to harm my human and live. This will, I admit, be something of a first for dragonkind, actually killing humans instead of protecting them is practically unheard of. I may even face repercussions from my kind for this. I find it hard to care, though, these ones are only getting what they deserve, for their actions or their complacence.
Now you’re getting upset again. {soothing} Don’t worry, this isn’t a sign of my outlook changing. I still have no desire to harm humans, and the village is perfectly safe.

Coming Fall 2024!

Nearly four years ago (Sep-2020), I began an apprenticeship at Cambridge Typewriter Co. (CTC), under legendary repairman Tom Furrier, that would come to define my life until only recently. As Tom’s chosen successor, I was over the moon to be taking CTC into the future, having already banked 1,000+ refurbished typewriters (repairs, sales, and even Hollywood props) and learned the finer points of customer service. Unfortunately, between the costs of purchasing the shop, providing necessary upgrades/modernizations, and leasing Boston-area commercial space (all the while having enough money left over for the day-to-day operations of running the business), I could not afford to acquire CTC without a bank loan. As Tom’s apprentice, and not his employee, my journey into learning the trade was funded by my extremely supportive and loving wife, who, as sole breadwinner during my entire apprenticeship, I couldn’t ask to shoulder yet another financial burden, i.e. today’s interest rates, just so I could pursue my dream of purchasing the shop.

My exit from CTC shocked both Tom and myself. On my last day, he asked what I planned to do. Considering how much we had saved to purchase CTC, I told him my wife and I hoped to begin a self-funded venture in southern New Hampshire, nearer to home, within 6-12 months. (The 80+ miles of cumulative, daily commute to/from CTC was draining.) While saddened by my departure, Tom agreed my strategy was sound and gave me his blessing, although he admitted he would try to find a replacement buyer, which I agreed was fair, as CTC is his legacy and should not be wholly dependent upon my involvement moving forward—and Tom deserves a well-earned and long-overdue retirement after decades spent maintaining the business.

Shaking hands, we parted ways.

Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of material acquisitions (hundreds of typewriters!), legal approvals, and commercial contracts, but I’m proud to announce the future opening of New England Typewriter, LLC (NET). Located minutes from the MA border in sales-tax-free New Hampshire, NET will be a self-funded typewriter shop, easily accessible from Boston/Worcester, MA; Nashua/Manchester, NH; Kittery, ME; and the entire North Shore region, without the pesky congestion of city traffic. We are also a reasonable drive from Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Apart from providing quality, affordable typewriter repair and sales, our goal is to promote a thriving typewriter community within the New England area through type-ins, outreach, and other such events.

“Log off the ‘net…with NET!”

30m and have been lurking on here since I first started twitching 7 months ago. I just wanted to share my experience, although I do fear I will be very long winded...TLDR I got really anxious, body started acting really weird, focused on physical/mental improvements, started feeling better!
I think this story will sound quite familiar for everyone on here...after a period of inactivity I began experiencing unfamiliar physical sensations that started ringing alarm bells in my head. I had lingering shoulder pain for no discernible reason that was radiating down my arm and giving tingles into my neck area. When this hung around for a couple of months, I made a visit to my GP and they paid it no mind. As it started getting worse, our old friend Dr. Google of course was telling me that this is MS. The feeling of numbness started spreading and I basically was melting down for the entire winter over this. A family friend who is a neurologist recommended finding a colleague of his locally just to check that box and move on.
As this was all peaking, I started to notice a squirming feeling in the arch of my foot, along with tightness/cramping along my entire leg. This eventually settled into pretty constant foot twitches and pain across my entire foot. I was continuing to shut down and those around me were quite aware that something was wrong with me. I agreed of course, and was insisting it was a neurological problem. They then agreed with that, and that the problem was my anxiety.
I finally had my appointment with the neurologist in February and he identified zero issues during his clinical exam. He did order an EMG on my arm due to the length of time that the shoulder issue was lingering. It was of course completely clean, and he couldn't have been less interested concerning my foot/leg. I showed him a video of my foot spasming, and he remarked "that is as relevant of a symptom to there being a major issue as your eyes being brown." He said to see an orthopedic doctor and that I won't need to see a neurologist for at least 40 years.
This offered temporary relief, and my shoulder started feeling better. But as that was happening, the twitches started spreading all over. First it moved across to my other foot, and then up my calves into my lower thigh near my knees. I started freaking out again. The foot pain was persisting, so I visited the orthopedic doctor. They couldn't really identify any sort of problem and referred me to a neurophysiologist to perform an EMG on my legs.
As I waited patiently for the month to pass until that appointment, I decided that I needed to have a mentality shift with this situation. It was time to focus on the things that I can control, which is both my physical activity and mental health. I started working with a physical therapist and also a CBT therapist. Both have been invaluable! I started seeing physical improvement and continued to push myself exercise wise. I made it a point of emphasis to walk at least 2.5 miles every day and to resume pickup basketball/golfing. I made big strides with my therapist and they ended up referring me to a psychiatrist. Eventually an SSRI was recommended and that has been a big help as well.
The EMG date came, and even though I had started feeling better, I was extremely nervous. My twitches were very wide spread (foot, calf, knee, thigh, butt, abs, neck, biceps, triceps, forearm, and hands) and still causing me distress. The EMG was completely clean with zero findings, which of course everyone predicted.
It has been a month since then, and I'm feeling the best I have physically and mentally in 2 years. I'm still twitching all over, mostly in my legs, but it has been reduced by quite a margin. I have no interest in going back to see any doctors for quite some time. This twitching stuff is so distressing at first and the periods of uncertainty/confusion are legitimately traumatizing. I just felt that it was really important to share a positive story for others that are still in that period of time.

I find it hard to care, though, these ones are only getting what they deserve, for their actions or their complacence.

I've been using Outlook Web and the new web/365 desktop app for about 6 months now. Just in the last month I've been experiencing terrible issues related to the search function.
Before I could type in partial email, name, or keywords and be provided results in seconds. Now, when I search, the suggestions almost never pop up; I get 0 results even when searching for emails of individuals that I have hundreds of communications with, or it takes 2-3 minutes for it to finish searching and return results.
I currently use the Archive folder on the web app for emails I no longer need in my inbox. Microsoft KB articles say it acts just like a normal folder and doesn't mention how it may affect the search feature.
It's become almost impossible to use my email at this point because I cannot search for anything without taking a ton of time trying to get the search to work.
Again, I didn't have this issue until recently. Has there been updates? Could the archive folder be the issue?

Ok so the new voice mode will be great when it comes to latency, inference, and just natural human-like interaction but I believe it will pale in comparison to the new vision capabilities and screen monitoring capability.
My question is regarding screen monitoring. If I give gpt access to my monitor and let’s say I’m in a Microsoft teams meeting and ask it to take notes of the meeting highlights, would 4o be capable of hearing and transcribing the audio in order to take notes of the high points of the meeting?
Follow up question is how long could it do this for? I’ve read that with the new model, plus users (which is am) will get around 80 queries every 3 hours but if it’s listening to the meeting and taking notes the whole time I’d assume it’s technically “working” the entire duration of the meeting even though I technically only gave it one instruction. How would that play into the whole 80 queries every 3 hours thing.
I ask because I see a number of use cases for the screen monitoring function for the desktop app and iPad app (which will be able to split screen based on one of the demo videos) that aren’t related to tutoring continually asking it questions.
TL/DR: in screen monitoring mode, will gpt4o be able to understand and transcribe audio from meetings like zoom and Microsoft teams in order to take notes and how would that affect the query count for users if it is accessing your screen and working the entire time it has access to screen.
