Any other side quest lines?

2024.04.29 10:15 Trundlenator Any other side quest lines?

I’m level 32 and have done all factions and mid game dlc except house of sorrows.
I haven’t done any main quests since I was supposed to meet Arden(except meet Nyralim to enter Ysa for scholia arcana start).
I just enjoy the side quests/content and I feel like I’ve completed everything except the main story.
Is there any side quest line stuff I may have missed before I return to the main story to advance the game?
Only thing I can think of is fight club in gorhart but that’s all I can think of.
Appreciate any advice and sorry for any rule breaking/misposting

Johnny Cope is a gun for hire in the roaring twenties. After a hotel ambush nearly kills him, he intends to exact retribution, only to find himself dragged into the occult.

Summary

Johnny Cope is a man with a reputation. His father started it, serving as the preferred troubleshooter for a gangster until his heart gave out. Johnny stepped right into his father's shoes, breaking heads and pulling triggers as necessary to fuel his vices and pay his creditors. The inciting incident is a hotel room ambush by a pair of hit men nicknamed "the long and the short." Johnny manages to turn the ambush around, but he's almost killed in the process, barely making it home before bleeding out. When he wakes he is under the "protective custody" of gangster Mylon Arden. The Long and the Short, while not exactly popular, were useful, and Johnny's fate is in limbo until things can be worked out.
Johnny asks politely if he can take his "bodyguards" along on a little investigation to find out who wants him dead, and Arden agrees. Enter Phil Wary (Helios Augustus), While Johnny was down and out, Augustus paid him a call, claiming to know about a man named Conrad Paxton, who allegedly killed Cope's father and now is trying to finish the job on his son. Johnny has questions, so drives into Olympia for a little chat. Augustus' evidence isn't strong, but he's persuasive enough, and shows Cope a film reel by the late auteur Eadweard Muybridge that depicts some rather unpleasant images, and ends with a young Paxton, Muybridge’s stepson, skittering about like a spider. Johnny is unnerved but determined to follow through, so Augustus points him toward Ransom Hollow and the Corning sisters, who originated the claim that Paxton killed Cope Sr.
The sisters are a creepy bunch. Upon the approach to the house a naked man is seen slipping between the hedges, before disappearing. Inside the house, is filled with the sounds of a child crying despite the fact that the women claim to be spinsters without children. Apparently, it's the darkening of the moon, and they are doing some kind of ritual to prolong their lives. The chosen ambassador, Carling Corning, tells Johnny their side of the story: Paxton sucked the soul out of Cope's father through ritualistic photography. Cope writes it off as insanity but is quick to take the talisman that Carling offers him as protection, and leaves behind one of his "bodyguards" in exchange.
In town, he debates the merits of proceeding with his revenge as he finds his way to a dive called Satan's Bung. Soon a "band" of sorts takes the stage, led by Daniel Blackwood. The Blackwood gang expresses their interest in Cope, and invites him out into the boondocks, where Cope assumes he's about to be murdered. Instead, Blackwood asks him to whack Paxton for him at a party Paxton is throwing the next day. Blackwood’s hands are tied, since he swore an oath not to harm Paxton, but the time for their arrangement is coming to a close and Cope has a reputation. Cope is hesitant, and Blackwood draws in close before noticing the talisman and flinching away. Cope agrees to think about it, and is sent on his way alongside his bodyguards.
At this point it’s clear that black magic of some sort is being practiced by almost everyone in Ransoms Hollow and Johnny's initial instincts are to get out of there, but an appearance by the Blackwoods makes it clear that the only path forward is through. Johnny goes to the Paxton’s shindig, gets there early and is surprised when, despite his threats, Paxton is quite welcoming and dismisses his guards. Johnny leaves his own men outside, speaking privately with Paxton as guests arrive. Paxton it seems is something of a failed anti-Christ figure for many in the hollow. He claims to believe in black magic and Satan only so far as it follows natural law. Satan, he claims, isn't interested in us. He says the Copes’ evil is of the lower-case variety, while his is proper Evil. Alas, the Crones, the Blackwoods, they had hopes for him, and he can't live up to them.
Paxton also claims that Helios Augustus is the one who killed Cope's father. Augustus was a friend of Conrad's father, and put him on the path to dark magic, and disturbing imagery in the first place. Then when Muybridge died Augustus wanted his remaining film reels and Paxton refused to give them up. Ever since, Augustus has been trying to kill Conrad and now he has at last succeeded. Conrad’s tired now, and just wants it over with. (I am greatly summarizing, and the details here are fascinating. Really worth reading the story for yourself if you haven't).
Despite himself, Cope believes the man but kills him anyway. Paxton is after all upper-case Evil by his own admission, and even if he didn't kill Cope's father, Cope wants to be sure. Shortly after, Helios Augustus enters and, upon seeing Johnny, deploys the titular hand of glory taken from the late Cope Sr. Johnny finds himself paralyzed as Helios gloats, largely confirming Paxton's account and looting the room for occult treasure. Then he leaves, mentioning that the Blackwoods have claim to Johnny, though he leaves the lit hand close enough for Johnny to blow it out, freeing himself from paralysis. From there Johnny makes his escape, mowing down a number of Blackwood thugs and setting fire to the manor before fleeing the burning estate.
When he gets home, all is forgiven. He's back in the good graces of Mr. Arden, and even needed in a fight with a rival crime boss. Johnny is glad to hear it, though he’s now developed higher aspirations than to merely be like his father. When he searches for Augustus at the Broadsword Hotel, the proprietor informs him that Helios has left for parts unknown. Johnny half expected it, and the story closes with him musing on how he'll get his vengeance.

Thematic Analysis

The Beautiful Thing that Awaits Us All is a very different collection from Occultation or Imago Sequence. Imago was (at least in my view) about snapshots of different worlds. Different lives. Different viewpoints. Occultation is about relationships. How they can be eaten away and manipulated. The Beautiful Thing, though, is about Death. It's about the Cycle. The ring. "Hand of Glory" is similar to a lot of Laird's other work. The archetypes are the same. Cope is a "poet-barbarian" with a lot more intellect than most will credit him, and a mean sense of honor. His failure in education is more due to lack of interest than lack of intellect. Cope moves through the world with a kind of fatalism. When he dies it will be at the end of a gun barrel, and he knows it. If he's ever asked for last words they'll probably be along the lines of a shrug and a "Fate's a bitch. What can you do?"
Cope's foils are interesting then. The antagonist of the story, Helios Augustus, is a man of flash and style, wholly at odds with Cope's earthy demeanor. Augustus is a deceiver, a Lucifer far more effective than Conrad Paxton, the failed antichrist. He's a dark Gandalf, kicking Cope out the door in an attempt to claim the dragon's hoard. This is at odds with Cope who, though a criminal, is a fairly honest man, a Ronin of the Roaring Twenties. He displays a bizarre sort of honor almost as much as his violent tendencies. He shoos call girl Pearl out of the way when the Long and the Short come gunning, and he expresses remorse over the fate of a prostitute his father brained in his defense years ago.
It's that honor that separates Cope from the other foil of the story: Conrad Paxton. Paxton may be genial, but he's also clear that he is a monster. Murdering another schoolboy, for reasons unknown, and his sister for reasons that are hinted at. He willingly allies himself with the forces of darkness. His geniality is born of exhaustion rather than empathy. Paxton is a monster, capital-E Evil, but apathetic towards his own existence. In some ways it's an apathy that Cope shares. For a large chunk of the story, Cope is resigned to his fate. What separates him from Paxton (apart from the practice of black magic) is that Cope will still fight it. It's also interesting that Paxton lacks faith and understanding in his chosen field of Darkness. Paxton is a man of reason. He believes in Satan with the same tired understanding as most Christians. Sure, the arch-devil is out there but his interest in this plane has long waned. Despite this lack of faith, he still flinches from the talisman Cope was given by Carling Corning, only to decry it as fake a moment later. It's interesting that mere moments after his death there is a hellish miracle in the form of the Hand of Glory. I think the reason Paxton is a failed antichrist is he doesn't believe in what he's preaching. He's apathetic. There is the disappointment. Blackwood, the Crones, and Augustus are enthusiastic about the darkness. Zealots in Lucifer’s army, if you will. In comparison, Paxton is dead weight.
It's also important to note that Paxton and Cope both live in the shadow of a father’s legacy. Both men live in their father’s homes and carry on their occupations. Paxton apparently has some talent like his father did (though whether this is in black magic or photography is left somewhat vague and it could go either way.) In the same way, Cope has his father's gifts. He works for the same mob boss, doing the same work. Paxton is a mirror for Cope. More refined, but also drained of anything to live for. He is less passionate, less empathetic, and less honorable. He is (I suspect) what Cope would be in ten years’ time if the events of the story hadn't pushed him to want to be more than his father's son. When faced with death, Paxton is fine with it. Cope, though, finds that there is more life, and more fight in him.

Thematic elements that didn't fit in this essay:

Cope is bookended by Helios and Paxton. Paxton, who died young, and Helios, who seems to have unnaturally long life. Cope, to the best of my knowledge, hasn't appeared again, and any revenge he might have attempted against Helios probably went poorly.
It's interesting to view “Hand of Glory” as the opposite of John Lanagan's “Technicolor” in how it was composed. See Historical Notes below.

Historical Notes

Holy Bleep. This one has some interesting stuff in it. So, I'll be honest, out of the ones I asked Greg for, “Hand of Glory” was the one I was least interested in. I thought it was a well-written but ultimately well-worn story. Now, though, I’m really excited to share my thoughts on this one. This story is insane, and the historical context is fascinating. So, Eadweard Muybridge is a real person, and almost everything about him in the story is true as far as I can tell. The only exceptions are the last reel with Conrad Paxton, and Conrad Paxton in general. Both are fictional. However, there are some fascinating insights here.
  1. The opening lines, presumably written by Paxton, are in reference to Muybridge's "Buffalo Running across the plains." You can find it on his Wikipedia page. It's either a dream version or maybe some updated darker version of Muybridge’s actual work.
  2. Muybridge's filming of people doing everyday things naked actually happened. Again, see Wikipedia. It's bizarre, and the story is actively bleeping with my brain.
  3. Muybridge had a son in real life (Florado who is briefly referenced in “Hand of Glory”). He also had a photography company. Both had the name Helios. It was Florado's middle name and the name of the company. Clearly Laird is emphasizing how close Muybridge and Helios Augustus actually were. I had to double check that both Helios and Paxton were fictional people after this.
Basically, everything mentioned about Muybridge is accurate as far as I can tell. It’s fascinating that with just a couple of pieces Laird was able to tack on so much fiction. It's sort of the opposite of what John Langan did for the story “Technicolor.” In that tale of horror, Langan makes up a whole fictional story tacked onto Poe's “The Masque of the Red Death,” but it is presented with such authority that it feels real. “Hand of Glory” goes the other way, tacking fiction onto real life, and using the connection to greatly deepen the story.

Discussion

  1. In terms of genre, how do you categorize “Hand of Glory”? Horror? Dark fantasy? Noir fantastic?
  2. Is there a significance - thematic or otherwise - to the hand of glory being the hand of Johnny Cope’s late father?
  3. Of all the characters in this story, who do you consider to be the most dangerous?

2024.04.25 14:26 ProteinAddict Insane water/sewage bill?

Insane watesewage bill?
Hey all, my girlfriend and I started renting a house in Arden on March 1st. We just received our first water bill and are trying to understand how it could possibly be so high. Just wondering what a typical bill for you all looks like. And is it possible that there's a previous balance that the landlord didn't pay prior to us moving in or something like that? The dates line up with us living here, but just wondering if that's a possibility. For reference, we have high efficiency appliances, each shower once per day, etc. so it's not like we're just out here consuming crazy amounts of water. Any help would be appreciated!

2024.04.25 12:45 serialkiller24 AHS Seasons Ranked (UPDATED)

Now that Delicate is over, here is my official rankings of each AHS season.
WARNING: This list is just an opinion and I know if I get backlash, but let’s stay positive please :)
(Best To Worst)
  1. Roanoke (Season 6) - definitely the scariest and goriest season. Loved the documentary and found footage style this season.
  2. Cult (Season 7) - no supernatural elements this season. Humans are the real monsters and the most realistic season. Pure terror.
  3. Asylum (Season 2) - creepy and unsettling, this season made me love AHS. Can never forget the characters this season (Thredson, Arden, Kit, Lana, Sister Jude, Sister Mary etc).
  4. Hotel (Season 5) - love how most of the characters in this season are antagonists and loved the hotel setting.
  5. Apocalypse (Season 8) - only redeeming quality this season is Cody Fern as Michael Langdon. Wasn’t a fan of the Coven 2.0 season, but “Return To Murder House” is one of the best AHS episodes.
  6. Murder House (Season 1) - good beginning season and interesting plot.
  7. Delicate (Season 12) - first half was okay. Second half really paid off - especially the backstory episode of Adeline. Liked how this season brought out new cast members and a few returning cast members. Overall, a fun slow burn season - BUT WTF WAS THAT FINALE?!
  8. 1984 (Season 9) - fun, bloody and campy season. Really liked the younger cast this season.
  9. Double Feature (Season 10) - Red Tide was amazing. Death Valley was something else. If Red Tide was a full season, it would definitely be higher. If Death Valley was a season, I think it would still be lower on the list.
  10. Freak Show (Season 4) - good story, but was disappointed Twisty only had a big part the beginning of the season.
  11. NYC (Season 11) - good cast, but felt like American Crime Story and sort of a forgettable season.
  12. Coven (Season 3) - just felt like Scream Queens in my opinion. Coven is overrated and only had a few freaky moments.
EDIT: what are your rankings of each season now that Delicate is over?

2024.04.25 05:58 Vierwood [Lore] Tempest & Savage

3rd Moon, 275 AC, Hexam-by-Warren
Smoke rose from the remains of Hexam-by-Warren. Once a motley assembled grouping of white-washed and timber homes reduced to burned wreckage. Even the great house of the portly Mayor Yohn hadn't been spared, its famous silverwear stolen and Myrish drapes scorched in the inferno.
Out of the wreckage wandered Jon Tempest. A bearded, middle-aged man with ambitions beyond his lot in life. His eyes were bright with a roaring anger, with a putrid hatred at what had been lost in only a days fighting.
When the Wildlings had been sighted, all the township had waddled its way into Hexam's old motte and bailey. A rudimentary defense of wood and dirt, raised upon a stout mound of earth with a dry moat round its staked walls. It wasn't much, but it was enough to give any raiders pause before thinking about attacking.
From the wooden tower, Jon had watched his fields be plundered by roving bands of men and women wearing furs; his whole flock of sheep and herd of cattle butchered or stolen; his great field of barley hacked and burned. Years of his livelihood lost. Years of toil now without meaning.
"Why do we put up with them," Jon found himself saying as the rest of the townfolk plucked through the remains of their homes. "Why do we pay dues to men who only come riding in once it's too late to save anything?"
One passing man shrugged. "Don't know," he said, scratching at his soot-covered nose. Thom Savage. Tempest knew the man as a guildsman known for his wheat and honey. They had known each other for years. He had come only a decade ago, but had made a life for himself that seemed more prosperous than families who had lived here for generations.
"They come down from their keeps and sweep them away like they're nothing," Tempest kept saying, his voice raising slightly. "But why do they always show up too late." His hands clenched into fists. This wasn't the first attack this year. They had heard about Halbury Hill, of Arden's valley burned, of Odil and Boxwell's burned bridges, and of even Hyfield's stone keep stormed. Nothing seemed safe nowadays, not with the wildlings in such great numbers and the knights of the Vale so reluctant to wade out into the danger.
"If they cared about our defense they would let us arm our own militias with steel plate. They'd let us build our own keeps of stone and fortify our bridges. They would let us organize the guilds and raise funds for these things!" his voice raised, and all of a sudden people were looking at him, their faces stunned. He wanted to stop talking, but it was too late. Why would we stop talking when it was the truth, and when so many people seemed eager to listen. Even Mayor Yohn had set down his shovel and was squinting at him with his keen, old eyes.
"It isn't fair that we should suffer and let them gain all the glory off the backs of our pains! We might have been burned out by these wildlings, but we've been trodden upon for years! And for what! We lost our livelihoods today, and if we hadn't been fast enough we might have all lost our lives as well!"
"He's right!" Rang the voice of Thom Savage, suddenly standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Tempest. Thom said bold, savage words then, accused their liege Lord Dutton of the crime of neglect, of breaking his oath of protection by his inaction. He was taller than Tempest, Savage, and his words only seemed to make him taller still.
The townsfolk were gathering round both men, nodding along and talking amongst themselves. The things they said had been whispers for years, but now with Jon and Thom raising their voices, they had the courage to agree openly. To grunt their approval and harumph their displeasure. There was a reckoning coming. A voice come up from the lowlands that had suffered for decades, and now it had its leaders, whether they truly wanted it or not.
Within a week Jon Tempest and Thom Savage had assembled all the village notables and gotten them to agree to their plan. They were to arm themselves as well as they could then march to the neighboring lands of Langbroke and Arden, and then Ulton and At-Audley, convincing as they went, mustering men and arms until they'd a force worth their words. Maybe then the Knights of the Vale would listen - be wiling to concede to some of their demands. If not - well, then maybe they'd just have to deal with them in a less polite fashion.
Three hundred men marched from Hexam-by-Warren, a force twice the size of the Wildlings that had burned their homes to the ground.

2024.04.24 22:07 dale_dug_a_hole Fourth generation fan

My family goes back with north. From the late 40’s to the mid 1960’s my grandfather ran a petrol station / repair garage opposite Arden street. A few generations of players all had their petrol accounts there and got their cars repaired there. In the 50’s there was a card game out the back with a few star players and occasionally the coach.
In the 60’s my mum would work in the garage, pumping gas for locals, fans and players while transposing sheet music (grandpa was a killer piano player with one of Melbournes best dinner dance bands).
My dad moved to Melbourne from Perth at a time when north was loaded with ex-WAFL players, so he naturally gravitated towards the kangas. He just happened to meet my mum and marry into a rock-solid north family. They had me in the late 70’s just as north was winning premierships with Barassi. Good times.
They had four kids who grew up in the 90’s watching one of the great teams of all time in their prime. We’d go to those Friday night games and sneak beers. Later I became a professional musician myself and played private functions for the entire team at a major sponsors house.
My grandpa passed about 20 years ago. My best memories with him were at the piano, or drinking old-school sarsaparilla while watching the Roos in his kitchen. He didn’t live to see the five great grandchildren who are now cheering on the club but he’d have loved it. I live OS so right now I stay up til 4am every week to watch even though we’re getting pummelled.
Anyway the point is maybe we’ve lost a hundred games. Maybe we lose another hundred. It’s rough right now but it will turn around. We are the community club. We didn’t take pokie money to save our arses, we ran Sudanese community outreach programs. We have good people in our corner. This club has given me so much joy in my life, so many good memories. The coaches, players and admin don’t owe me anything but their best efforts. There’s nothing that could make me any less proud to be a shinboner.

2024.04.24 16:43 Frodo-tha-baggins Advice for Housing at UCF for exchange student (Arden Villas/ North lake gates etc)

Hi everyone!

I'm a Swedish student who will study in the fall semester at UCF for 2024. I'm looking at housing and need a short-term lease agreement. I have looked at multiple building complexes that offer short term leases such as the Arden Villas, Northlake Gates, and the Verge.
I have read a lot online about the Arden Villas and how awful it is supposed to be and that people dosen't recommend it. Besides the floodings that occurred, the murder stuff and that management seems to be scummy and ineffective, I wonder if it is that bad now in 2024? If anyone lives there, please tell me your experience.

If you have any other recommendations for housing, or maybe live at the Northlake gates or the verge, please let me hear what you have to say down below. Thanks in advance :)

2024.04.20 05:22 koushikkolkata Wulong Cha - green tea goodness

Wulong Cha - green tea goodness
Weather app was showing 39° in Kolkata (feels like 43°) for consecutive days. Was enjoying my summer freshies to the fullest. But, as you people will understand, the frag-bug in my head started pounding continuously as soon as I saw a great deal on this much talked about perfume. Ended up ordering and got it delivered in 3days (Gurupdesh). Bottle and perfume is as genuine as it can be.
Notes : as the bottle indicates, Bergamot, Orange 🍊, Litsea, Mandarin, Oolong tea, Musk, Fig. Now lets discuss about them
Bergamot : This is not your average joe Bergamot here boy. Oh no. It is really upclass and the smoothest bergamot blend that you can imagine.
Orange 🍊 : The faint orange traits that I detect are not really fruity, but leans towards being bitter (like JV Artisan Pure, which is good as it cuts through the summer heat effortlessly)
Litsea : I had no idea what this is. Apparently it is a sweet, fruity, fresh citrusy note . No wonder it blends well with the bergamot.
Mandarin : Blended very subtly, and short lived also. Probably that's why I could not detect it till now
Oolong Tea : Now here comes the star of the show. People compare it with Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, which is fair because this has similarity with the green tea accord in EA, but this is something else here . So Beautiful, So Elegant, Just smells WOW 😳 The tea note is omnipresent and feels transparent. I have never experienced such beautiful note before in my life
Musk : It does get sweeter in drydown ( comparatively, it is not a sweet perfume by any means)
Fig : The fig gives this a fruity undertone, which also feels like a faint litchi smell
THE EXPERIENCE : This have no Alcohol blast like many designer perfumes and you can dip your nose in the applied area as soon as you spray it. This talks quality about the brand.
Very high quality blend, very refreshing and calms you down in an instant. You will forget the summer heat when you smell it.
The Bergamot, Oolong Tea and Orange (bittery) is detectable as soon as you spray it. The fruity, musky notes will come later.
I will say this is a simple composition and doesn't change much in its lifetime. But sometimes, simplicity is the grandest extravaganza, and in this case, it is definitely true
PROJECTION : Fairly good projection for a summer freshie. But what is wonderful, is the sillage. With just 2 sprays (1 on neck, 1 on arm) the scent trail is amazing. Whenever you move around, you will catch heavenly whiffs of it . Easily last 8 hours
SEASONS : Definitely fit for the summer 🌞 But with that fruity vibe, spring also. Some summer freshies work well in the winter also. Will have to try it to give further comments
It can be a very good office wear option as you are not going to annoy or suffocate anyone with this one.
This is my first perfume purchase from the house of Nishane, and I am definitely impressed and satisfied with my spending. Eyeing the Hacivat for my next acquisition 😁
Earlier I used to think that Niche fragrances are just a waste of money and designers do a similar job with less spending. Also Niches in an attempt to be different, ends up being off putting. But everything changes with this purchase. It's such a pleasing, calming experience to sniff this. Also the quality of the blend is much ahead than designer frags. Hoping for more beautiful Niche experiences in the future

2024.04.19 18:02 SkyesBride My extremely stupid obsession with Juliette has a Gun

Taking a quick look at my sprawling perfume excel list, I realized that, as of today, I own 17 fragrances by JhaG - out of 22 that have been released since 2010. Yes, I don't have any arguments either. In my defense: Most of the fragrances in my possession are 2ml trial sizes, and some of them I scrounged up for free at a luxury perfumery in Düsseldorf. Most are from the €30 trial sets that inexplicably turn up on my doorstep every few months. What I'm trying to say: I'm delulu, but not quite as bad as I could be.
Juliette has a gun is a totally normal perfume brand that's all over Sephora in the US. In good ole' Germany it's a bit harder to get a hold of, but not as absurdly complicated as idk, Phlur or something (I had to order their discovery set from an exceedingly untrustworthy online store from the Czech Republic and I was seriously surprised that their test set actually arrived at my door and not, say, a severed horse head).
To share my knowledge and pass it on to the next generation (and most importantly to gain a handy overview for myself), I've decided to write my ultimate Juliette has a Gun review and pester you all with my opinions. So if for some inexplicable reason anyone is interested in a deep dive into the world of Cetalox, Ambroxan and ISO-E-Super: I've got you covered!
Quick note: This was originally written in german, so some jokes and cultural stabs might not translate as well. Sorry!
⬜💎🗨️ Not a Perfume
Cetalox®
Ah, Not a Perfume. Such a wonderfully stupid concept. Hardly any other... perfume? divides the minds of online fragrance forum participants as decisively as Juliette's dubious claim to fame. Some say it smells like super glue, others smell nothing at all, and a select few have the "Your skin, but better" effect. I belong to the latter group, but that's no credit to my super nose, it's simply a genetic advantage. The fragrance molecule interacts with the skin chemistry and creates an individual scent that (for me) smells simple, unobtrusive and clean. I get compliments surprisingly often when I wear NaP or layer it with another fragrance. To balance things off, I can't taste coriander.
Energy: Do you remember those pheromone perfumes that supposedly subconsciously seduce your preferred sex and literally force them to have sex with you? That, but in an office environment, and instead of sex there's a pay rise.
Grade: 2
⬜⬜💎💎🗨️🗨️ Not a Perfume Superdose
Cetalox® + Cetalox®
If you can't smell Not a Perfume, youll smell more of nothing here. So, more of the less? It's simply a higher concentration of Cetalox, and for some people this leads to their Eureka moment. For me, it lasts longer than the normal version, and that's it.
Energy: The long-suffering executive secretary of a busy board member who wants to melt into the background. When you try to visualize her facial features, you notice that you can't remember her.
Grade: 2+
⬜🍐💧Pear Inc.
Pear + Cetalox®
I'm extremely biased towards Pear Inc. because I had this fragrance with me on our honeymoon in Italy and only associate positive emotions with it. It comes closest to Not A Perfume conceptually, combining a very high level of synthetic fragrance with a hint of soft fruitiness from the pear. It is barely perceptible, more of a light, summery veil. And quite persistent! Even after a hike to Cascate Nardis, it was still on my skin when I jumped into the pool afterwards. At least I deluded myself into think that.
Energy: A luxurious hotel hallway in the Alps with thick, dark gray carpet that cushions every step. To the left, the stairs lead down to the wellness area, where fresh fruit water awaits next to the Roman steam bath. Straight ahead is the room, tastefully furnished with natural materials, where juicy apples and pears are provided every day. Life's good.
Grade: 1
🌹❄️⛓️Lady Vengeance
Rose + Cetalox®
My love, always. Feminine without being overwhelming. Not overly rosy or floral, but, surprise surprise, synthetic. The name is ridiculously out of place, a rose could not be more toothless. Perfect as an everyday fragrance, but I wouldn't dream of describing it as sexy or vampy or horny. Lady Vengeance lives in a very strange place: it doesn't scream, but the fragrance isn't quiet either. Quite strong fragrance notes, good sillage, but it's not overpowering. Despite the rather simple composition, it has its own identity, unlike Pear Inc. which is really just NaP plus pear. I always reach for it when nothing else can excite me.
Fun fact: Lady Vengeance was designed by none other than Francis Kurkdjian, and I can feel the vibe. It wouldn't be completely out of place in a MFK line up either. Perhaps a little more place-hunting, but we were all young and fake once. (Sidenote: Francis Kurkdjian also created Green Tea (Elizabeth Arden) and Miss Dior and about a hundred thousand other perfume staples? Sick.)
Energy: You need to shop/go to group therapy/organize community meetings, but only feel 80% turned on. Lady Vengeance doesn't turn your life around, but at least makes you feel 82%. Maybe even 83.
Grade: 1
⛱️🧂🥥Vanilla Vibes
Vanilla... and surprisingly no Cetalox®
A "classic" vanilla fragrance from JhaG, and according to the fragrance pyramid, completely free of synthetic fragrances. Somehow, perhaps through osmosis, the chemical DNA still comes through, characterized here by a suntan lotion accord. More precisely: suntan lotion in the flavor vanilla. Light and airy, very summery. Thanks to fleur de sel, we avoid the boring standard, Vanilla Vibes has a very pleasant and unique character. It is, thank goodness, not a vanilla bomb that causes headaches. Salty, seaside, like a day at the beach. Or better still, the walk home afterwards. Chilling out on the balcony with a view of the pool bar.
Energy: a beach bar made of white wood, the radio playing in the background and the salty sea air lingering on your skin. You've just reapplied sunscreen while watching the cool surfer dudes ride the waves.
Score: 2
🍳☀️🧍Sunny Side Up
Vanilla, but this time + Cetalox®
The way I would imagine a vanilla fragrance from JhaG: synthetic, but not in a bad way. Sillage and longevity are poor, but that's a positive, remarkable quality in a vanilla perfume. What this egg connotation is all about (the bottle is white with an yolk-yellow cap, plus the name) is not clear to me. Some reviews speak of an eggnog smell, but I attribute that to marketing-induced delusions. For me, it dances the 08/15 sandalwood-vanilla-musk ballet, but completely synthetic and therefore a bit weird, and I like weird, but here the cushy irrelevance dominates.
Energy: Tropical week at IKEA. A cheap white shelf with vanilla deodorant. Pale lack of character with the charm of a Palatine tax clerk (in german, that joke was great). Doesn't hurt anyone, but thats kinda it.
Grade: 3
🧁🍓🔥mmmh...
Cake and surprisingly no Cetalox®
mmmmh... and Lipstick Fever were the doomed attempts to break away from the Cetalox® DNA and launch two Gourmand fragrances. It has a bit of children's perfume energy, and both my husband and my best freind hate this scent with fervent devotion. I like the playfulness, I like the sultry, candied drydown. There's patchouli involved, and lots of it too. Longevity level: orgyproof. You can still smell the vanilla the morning after, and probably even after a long shower.
Energy: Your three-year-old niece wants to bake raspberry cake and rolls around in vanilla sugar when you're not looking. Afterwards, you have a one-night stand and no opportunity to shower beforehand. The fragrance accompanies both activities with the same level of enthusiasm.
Grade: 3+
✨👠💄Lipstick Fever
Lipstick and surprisingly no Cetalox®
Lipstick Fever is the scent that made me fall in love with Juliette has a Gun. What's our first idea when we move away from our well-tried Cetalox® nonsense? We make a fragrance that smells like lipstick! 10/10 concept, no notes. It's such an absurd take that you can't help but love this brand. For the uninitiated, lipstick has a very distinctive scent, especially older and more expensive brands smell like iris, vanilla and berries. Of course, each brand has its own scent, but JhaG has somehow managed to nail the lipstick association photo-realistically. I squeal with delight every time I smell it. It's so silly. It's so grandiose.
Energy: You unscrew a brand new MAC lipstick, the surface still shiny, the logo still embossed. The first time you've spent more than 3 euros on a make-up product and you don't regret a cent.
Grade: 2+
🍋🍸🧊Moscow Mule
Lime + Cetalox®
I have to write this review from memory. Because my tester of Moscow Mule has been empty for years. This fate is rare in my dragon hoard, and usually ends in buying the full size. The fact that I haven't done so yet has mainly to do with the cringy name. The more I think about it, the less I can think of a reason, because: Moscow Mule is a wonderfully fresh, unobtrusive citrus fragrance with lime, bergamot and ginger. Unisex, even! Absolutely no detergent vibes, which can easily happen with citrus fragrances. More like a homemade lime soda at a Vietnamese restaurant. I have nothing but good memories with this scent and oh god I'm going to buy it soon, aren't I?
Energy: An afternoon by the pool, but not an outdoor children's paddling pool, but in an expensive, exclusive spa where they serve cucumber-ginger water and nuts and dried fruit. And non-alcoholic cocktails. With a slice of lime.
Grade: 1
🧔🐺🌵Ego Stratis
Vague men's fragrance + Cetalox®
We haven't had a marketing controversy in a while, have we? In the year of the mistress 2022, unisex fragrances are now no longer a topic that causes great turmoil in the perfume world. They haven't really been since 1611 at the latest. JhaG sees it differently and has designed the entire advertising campaign for Ego Stratis around this outlandish concept: A... a...a.a...aquatic fragrance.... for... Women? Eh, no, for men AND WOMEN? But this is a men's fragrance! And WOMEN(!) are supposed to wear it? That's crazy. Look at them, this quirky niche perfumery brand, always on the cutting edge!
Well, Ego Stratis doesn't smell terrible. But it just smells like any run-of-the-mill men's perfume. Aquatic notes, neroli, cedarwood, yadda yadda. There's really nothing genderbent about it. I imagine a more subtle sweetness than Axe green, but the hint of fruitiness (blueberry?) is immediately crushed by the musk ox. You have to pay a pretty penny at JhaG to be allowed to wear a men's fragrance as a woman.
Energy: Axe shower gel, but make it high-fashion.
Grade: 3-
🍂🌒🧿Another Oud
Norlimbanol™ + Cetalox®
Ohhh, Romano has found a second reagent in his chemistry set! I giggle at my good joke as I aim the (very poorly designed) test diffuser at my arm. One spray and my pupils dilate. Oh. Oh.
Oud is a special fragrance composed of woody, smoky accords. It tends to be found more in men's perfumery and is very popular in Arabic perfumes. Together with norlimbanol, another woody fragrance molecule, it creates a very round, pleasant, warm fragrance. It has a distinct medicinal note, and I'm MEGA into it, but I can imagine it's controversial. Now THAT is a unisex fragrance! Much more androgynous than whatever Ego Stratis tried. I want to press my nose into it all day, it's that great. Oops, now it's accidentally ended up in husbands shelv, how could that have happened?
Energy: The most self-confident man at the gangbang.
Grade: 1
👔🚿🧼Musc Invisible
Cotton and surprisingly no Cetalox®
Mh, nothing is invisible here. It's the most penetrating clean laundry smell this side of the Speefuchs (thats, um... german Mr Proper, but as a furry). The invisible Elon smells more washed than my laundry. Soapy, slightly pungent, SoFt, ClEaN, nAtuRal, all the buzzwords. Heavy scented candle vibes, specifically Clean Cotton by Yankee Candle. Laugh at me, but I miss the cetalox. This fragrance simply has no identity at all. The reviews on Parfumo are all happy that it's so atypical for the top dog-synthetic-chemical-pants-jarring-Julia, finally no cetalox bomb. Yes, and that's why it sucks? If you want soft naturalness, go to Elizabeth Arden or roll around in the moss or something.
Energy: A good, German housewife (m/f/d) who hangs up her freshly starched, spotless white sheets on an alpine meadow and then lets Meister Proper fuck her.
Grade: 4
🌺🌼🌴Lust for Sun
Sun cream + Cetalox®
I don't need to mention how well JhaG executes the concept of "Nivea Sun Milk SPF 50", but the first sniff beams me straight to a bed castle in Can Picafort circa 1996. Mission accomplished. It's the summer scent of summer scents, and maybe I'm stupid, but I can even smell the panthenol for the sunburn afterwards. After the milky opening, the scent becomes brutally brute floral (that worked better in german: brutal-brachial floral) with ylang-ylang, monoï, gardenia and every other flower you can find in a well-stocked allergy specialty store. If I get a headache, that's saying something.
Energy: A very drunk and questionably legal teenager on the dance floor of the local village disco for SummerJam with DJ HouseKasper, where the vodka energy still costs 1.50 euros and everyone around her goes home with an inexplicable headache.
Grade: 3
🫧☁️➿Ode to Dullness
Skin cream + Cetalox®
JhaG was apparently in his Nivea era in 2023, because Ode to Dullness is inspired by the creamy nothingness of the best skincare for anyone unfamiliar with Kaufmann's children's cream. Well, not that it smells like Nivea (we don't want to get sued), it's more of a cloudy lotion vibe. General skincareness. It doesn't create much of a scent, but I smelled myself at the newly opened supermarket and was pleasantly taken with it every time. Soft, pleasant, clean, unspectacular. It is supposed to depict the comfortable wasteland of everyday life and yes, I can subscribe to that. Doesn't have to be a bad thing.
Energy: You almost bite the head off an extremely slow-moving lady in the supermarket who stops right in front of you to study her shopping list, but then a cloud of fragrance caresses you and you remember that it's not that deep.
Grade: 2-
🍑✨👄Magnolia Bliss
Youllneverguess + Cetalox®
After so many tragic attempts to do anything different with the DNA of Juliette has a Gun, Magnolia Bliss is a welcome return to its roots. It's dumb fun, artificial until the day after tomorrow, a little childish, floral and fruity and synthetic and feathery. The floral magnolia isn't so much in the foreground, I primarily notice the peach/mirabelle/apricot jamminess. Orange Cat Behavior, but as a perfume. Just as many brain cells, too.
Energy: peach rings meets nail polish remover.
Score: 1-
🍒❌🚬Juliette
Cherry + Cetalox®
According to the marketing material, Juliette is supposed to be the culmination of 15 years of perfumery artistry, the ultimate statement of the brand, its identity in a nutshell, an iconic fragrance for all time. Ironically, Juliette is completely free of the JhaG DNA. What's this stuffy seriousness in my synthetic bomb brand? Are we at Maison Francis Kurkdjian here or what? Confident Complexity my ass. I want Lost Cherry, but in stupid! Mh, okay, that's already Lost Cherry. But I thought JhaG, like every self-respecting perfume house about four years ago, had finally come out with its own cherry gum variation. But I was bitterly disappointed. Or rather, peppery disappointed. Juliette is strangely dark and edgy, the pepper surprisingly dominant. The cherry quickly fades away - it's only here for marketing purposes, after all - before the cashmeran, jasmine and cetalox doze off into their twilight years. Boring.
Energy: None.

2024.04.12 22:17 ConsciousRun6137 Time Travel Discourse; On Timelessness Of Spirit & Benefits You Possess

THOUGHT is ENERGY, and THINKING creates more energy, and energy is always seeking new forms of expression. EVERYTHING we want to experience, ALREADY exists. What you have to do is close the distance between your present self and the version of you enjoying those experiences. Because it is THOUGHT and BELIEF that have kept these things from you thus far, then thought and belief are required to reverse this.
I am more than I suppose myself to be, thus, I am more than anything that can happen to me.
Meister Ekhart in the 11th century said, “I receive that God and I are one…I am then an immovable cause that moves all things.”
The thought of power, produces power.
Breaking pattern is what any soul can do to get the Construct’s undivided attention.
“If anyone’s a wizard, everybody is, to some degree, a wizard.” Charles Fort.
What the Teacher Really Conveyed
What was Jesus’ message? If He was a real person, if He was truly the Son of God, if He was the sum of many ancient figures and faiths, if He was crucified or not- NONE of these matter compared to His message. Since when is the man more important than his message? With Jesus we have a spiritual Law laid out for us that almost the entire world has missed. He said over and over, “Go, and sin no more.” And this was ALL THE GUILTY had to do. The PAST was irrelevant to Jesus. The core teaching of this figure was that the selfless act of an instant can undo a lifetime of guilt. So if this is true, that the PAST does not obtain, that the past does not restrict the soul acting in the PRESENT, then it must be equally true that the soul acting in the PRESENT can reap benefit from its FUTURE self. If within the coordinates of our sojourn through this experience we are powerful spirits having grown more powerful with the accretion of newer lessons and experiences, then there is no barrier between the FUTURE you and who you are today- any limitations are self-imposed. Remember, if you believe resistance to anything will be experienced, then resistance will appear.
Hebrews 11:13: "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth." STRANGERS and PILGRIMS on the earth is implicit they knew they weren’t here to SAVE it.
1 Peter 2:11: “I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul." This admonition recognizes believers as temporary residents on earth, urging them to live holy lives in anticipation of somewhere better.
2 Corinthians 5:1: Paul speaks of the earthly body as a temporary dwelling, saying, "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." A BUILDING of God?
Hebrews 13:14: "For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come." This is reinforcing the concept of being sojourners on earth. And Hebrews 11:10 reads that concerning Abraham, “He looked for a city that had foundations, whose builder and maker was God.” When did he do that? According to Genesis text when Abraham took a long journey he went to Egypt.
  1. John 18:36: Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."
  2. John 17:14: In His prayer to the Father, Jesus says, "I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world."
  3. John 17:16: Continuing His prayer, Jesus states, "They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world."
  4. John 14:2-3: Jesus speaks of His heavenly abode, "In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
  5. John 15:19: Jesus tells His disciples, "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."
You're NOT here to save the world. Waking up is evidence of being CHOSEN.
2 Corinthians 4:4: "In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light…” This is AIX, the god of this world. Modern Christianity is only fooling itself; a soul does not become virtuous to BECOME one of the Elect, no, he is virtuous BECAUSE he is one of the Elect. This dovetails nicely with the statement of James Allen, “We receive not what we want, but what we are.” Further, this means faith is not conceived and known, but lived and enacted. Even our failures are acceptable to God- the parable of the Prodigal Son is evidence of this. That the wayward son who rebelled was given more attention and the place of honor than the one who blindly obeyed and has never stepped out to experience the world. It is the rebellious who change the world, not the obedient. Those who follow the status quo never build new experiences. This is dungeon programming.
Philosophers Stone: Transmuting the Unreal to the Realized
The holosphere, an impressionable medium, takes products of the imagination, which are fictions, and turns them into experienced facts. The generative field is totally independent of existing conditions and can originate new conditions OUT OF NOTHING. David Icke wrote that we are the direct result of a magnetic image we cast out of the way we think of ourselves.
Self-perception creates circumstances and conditions that confirm one’s own self-image, meaning, reality responds to you in the exact proportion to the way you perceive yourself. Our assumptions of truth, BECOME the truth.
Attitude will always influence OUTCOMES.
Fear is the Antipode of Faith
People who live in fear synchronize their spirit to receive the frequencies of those things that are feared. Faith is the opposite of fear. The spirit that experiences one is never experiencing the other at the same time. It is impossible for these two modes of frequency to coexist within the same soul. The positive mind produces power generated into a neutral field waiting for instruction. The negative mind absorbs the negative energies already present in the field, of fears others have experienced. Positivity is freedom to create forms by thought and action; slavery is fear-based thought that subjects you to dungeon programming If you think there is opposition, opposition will appear.
Application of force is a broadcast of energy exhibiting a lack of faith; it is the light yet firm touch that tells not of weakness, but of POWER HELD IN RESERVE.
A PERCEIVED Reality
Itshak Bentov in Stalking the Wild Pendulum, wrote, “The physical body is made up of interesting, pulsating fields. What we call a physical body- flesh, bones and blood, rapidly disappears when highly magnified.” We are the nexus between the quantum and cosmological, the infinitely tiny light components of the ether to the vast constructs that have been built out of the worlds of ideas already impressed upon the holography. The placebo effect is evidence that this is a PERCEIVED reality, not an actual one.
René Descartes (from "Meditations on First Philosophy"): "I have convinced myself that there is absolutely nothing in the world, no sky, no earth, no minds, no bodies. Does it now follow that I too do not exist? No: if I convinced myself of something [then] I certainly existed." Descartes' methodical doubt led him to question the reality of the external world, suggesting that our perceptions and beliefs about the world could be deceptive.
Massimo Citro said that we are victims of a machine that produces a virtual reality that keeps us separated from the REAL reality by representations that are not real. Sounds a lot like Arthur Schoepenhouer and Rene Descarte to me.
Massimo also said that our bodies are illusions, that we live in a fiction.
Borrowing from the Future
Paul Arden said, “If you can’t solve a problem, it’s because you’re playing by the rules.” Remember, this isn’t an actual reality, but a PERCEIVED reality. And this experience is merely the result of our perceptions, then borrowing from a FUTURE perception is not impossible at all.
Albert Camus wrote that the last pages of a book are already contained in the first pages. So is it so hard to believe that in the book that is your life you can borrow from a future chapter a part of the story you need today? James Ray said it best- “When you look at your current state of affairs and define yourself by that. Then you doom yourself to have nothing more than the same in the future.”Because we are spirit moored to that which is Eternal, then our present self is little different from the self we will one day be. And since our future self is also our present self and this self actually lies outside
TIME, then there is no mystery in our present ability to draw power, courage, healing and faith from a future version of our timeless identity Imagination is where most of us live anyway. The past is experienced through MEMORY and the future is experienced through WORRY, which is not as it should be. When thinking of the future most people slip into negative default mode and the thinking is negative. We’ve been doing it all our lives and it’s the CAUSE for our present conditions.
Thomas Troward over a century ago said, If the end is already secured, then all the steps leading up to it are secured as well. This means the solutions have already been found and experienced, and if they already exist SOMEWHERE, then they can be accessed ANYWHERE. Draw from ourselves more than we contain, only possible because we are moored to something else and this power reserve is limitless.
The world of thought and imagination vibrates on a higher order than base matter- this is why the mental realm is NOT BOUND to the laws ascribed to the physical world. MIND exists in a dimension beyond the material Because THOUGHT is the start of all things, the PAST is totally inconsequential. The field receives our new thoughts and is in no way LIMITED BY PRECEDENT. The past is not a predicate for the future to the individual, only for the collective.

2024.04.08 22:02 SaskPoliticker Toronto Star: SaskPoliticker Spotted with Real Estate Agent in Brampton

Toronto Star Article: April 8, 2024
By Jessica Arden
Former Prime Minister and MP for the Prairies, now CEO of Statera Consulting Canada, SaskPoliticker was spotted with a local real estate agent in Brampton, reportedly looking at properties in the Frasers Corners area.
SaskPoliticker reportedly has a meeting scheduled with Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown later today, according to staff from the Mayor’s office. The two have met before when SaskPoliticker was an MP, and crossed roads when the former Prime Minister was organizing Prairie support for Brown’s CPC leadership campaign in 2022.
The two are from different political backgrounds, one a long-time Prairie New Democrat and the other a much-tried Ontario Progressive Conservative. Nonetheless, it is known that both have an amicable relationship, and share much stances on public policy, from taxes, to housing, and economic strategy.
Speculation has followed SaskPoliticker since his loss in the recent election. It is unknown as to whether he will run again for federal office, or enter provincial politics as many expect him to do. Today’s appearance in Brampton has led to speculation that SaskPoliticker may seek a seat in the area, given an upcoming by-election in the Golden Horseshoe riding.
We reached out to SaskPoliticker’s office at Statera Consulting and to former campaign staffers, but received no replies.
The former Prime Minister oversaw the largest fiscal turnaround in Canadian history with the budget tabled last session. The budget did not pass, and it is yet to be seen whether the newly elected Government will follow the former’s fiscal path.
The Star will update this story as more information comes in. SaskPoliticker is expected to make an online announcement sometime tomorrow.
Jessica Arden, Toronto Star.
