2024.05.22 01:52 PleasantCandidate785 Windows Server 2022 VM Crashing

I have a Windows Server 2022 VM Running under Alma Linux 9.3 that is crashing roughly every 7 to 8 days with the following message in the /valog/libvert/qemu/Server.log file:
failed to set up stack guard page: Cannot allocate memory 2024-05-10 21:59:33.034+0000: shutting down, reason=crashed
I think this is linked to my using "virtio" as the drive type for my drive images.
At this point, the server is in production and I can't change to virtio-scsi. I initially set up the virtio drives due to the performance gain when mounting the qcow2 images from an all NVME ZFS file system. And the system absolutely FLIES. 15,000+MBps sequential read performance under CrystalDiskMark.
I have to stop this crashing though. Here is my Server.xml file:

2024.05.22 01:52 michelangelo1601 [Online][5e][GMT+3][LGBTQIA+friendly] DM looking for 5-6 players for adventures in Eberron!

Disclaimer: I am reposting this so more people get a chance to see the post! If you applied to the previous post, no need to apply again! :)
Hello there! This will be a long post but I do encourage you to read all of it so you have an idea what kinda game you are applying for. This would be a long-term campaign, so be willing to commit to the game! Have fun reading!
Game details:
We play using both Discord for voice and video and Foundry VTT for maps and character sheets! Webcams are mandatory since we all have been using them and it helps a lot with roleplaying when you can see the other people! Make sure that your PC or laptop is capable of running Foundry, here is a link to the Foundry system requirements: https://foundryvtt.com/article/requirements/
Do note that you don't need to buy or download anything! How Foundry works is that I send you a link and you'll join through there so no need to worry about that!
We are here to make the story together so while there is a main plot for you to follow, there will be distractions along the way and of course, things that relate to your characters and what they might find interesting!
During session 0 we will go over the initial plot hooks, how your characters might know each other, safety rules, and so on!
The available days are listed in the questionnaire. The start time for the session regardless of the day would be at 9 pm GMT+3 and when a day has been chosen, we would play consistently on that day every week!
RP to combat ratio:
I would say 50-50 since you as players can with your decisions affect how much combat or roleplay there is going to be but I as a GM, am geared more towards weighting narrative but that doesn't mean that there wouldn't be some cool combat set-pieces ;).
There might be moments in the game where we focus more on the social aspect of the game, interacting in character with the world around them and then there might be some more action-oriented sessions where you get to sit at the edge of your seat!
I will say that how I like to run games, I like to focus on characters and what their motives, goals, and flaws are. This would be a more character-driven game so be ready for that and don't be afraid to get into character and have fun while doing so!
How to apply:
All that I require from you is that you read the whole post and then fill out the questionnaire to the best of your ability. I pour a lot of time into making sure that the sessions are good and that everyone is having fun and you can contribute to that by being genuinely interested in the game!
Here is the questionnaire: https://forms.gle/TAnUSBRAoEpKe1Ra8
Basic rules of the campaign:
The most important rule is to: HAVE FUN! We are here to play a game and make a story together and everyone's comfort is important to me! If you have doubts or if something feels off, you can always come to talk with me!
Game Rules:
The reason for Banned spells is that I like to make mysteries and that players need to think. For example, Remove curse would make a situation where you can get cursed not that tense. I like to make curses into plotlines so thus banning the spell gives us that opportunity.
Here are the banned spells:
Banned subclasses:
Races from Eberron, PHB, and MPMM are available minus Tortle, Fairy, and Centaur. Also, flying races are not allowed
Here is a little bit of info about me!
My name is Michael, 22 years old. I have been a GM for 3.5 years now! I have enough experience so I won't fumble around but obviously, I don't know everything.
Something about myself is that I have been a huge fan of TTRPGs ever since I started 3.5 years ago. In that period, I have had the pleasure to play multiple systems such as 5e, pathfinder 2e, Call of Cthulhu, cyberpunk RED/2020, mothership, City of Mist, etc. So I have quite a lot of experience and I know the ropes! I also like to draw, write stories, do worldbuilding, play video games, and watch movies and anime.
I am a huge fan of One Piece, it was also an inspiration for this setting so if you are a fan, you'll notice some subtle references here and there!
I do enjoy Eberron as a setting and have read quite a bit on it! Still, while it's an established setting with its lore, that means that there will be things that I might be unaware of or I might change things here and there. I like to stick to the established lore since it's quite expansive and really good but expect changes at some points!
Final words
Thanks for reading this long-ass post and I do hope that you can see that I am putting my all into this! I hope you do too so feel free to fill out the application! Take it slowly and don't rush it since I am using it to gauge how interested you all are to join in! I will keep the post up for a few days and conduct interviews before Sunday. If you have questions, feel free to comment and I'll answer when I have time!
I hope all of you have a nice day/evening and I hope to talk to you later!

2024.05.22 01:50 Science_man69 I believe I know what causes male entitlement

As I stated in the title, I believe I know what causes male entitlement to women’s time, body or just women in general. At the very least what caused it for me, and how I (am breaking) free of it.
When I was 7, I would watch TV. There would always be an episode where a male protagonist gets a Girlfriend. Loses her to a dumb mistake. Tries to get her back, fails, tries again, and succeeds.
I’ve always been in favor of Womens Rights -er believed I was. As a little boy, nobody ever told me about love or women or relationships (especially considering I don’t have any sisters). I didn’t know how to talk to women, and I’m not attractive enough for them to come to me. But by some miracle for little me. When I was 12 going on 13, I got a girlfriend. She was the same age, let’s call her “Kelly”. I obviously cared deeply for Kelly, and I know she did for me too. I was just exploring my sexuality at the time (we’re both straight).
As we got closer together I rushed things, I would want to touch her, and she would let me. I would become focused on that. Long story short. I neglected her consent, not even intentionally. It just didn’t register to me. It didn’t occur to me because I don’t think I was subconsciously programmed to listen to Kelly, or any woman my age for that matter. So we break up and I move schools etc… but the misogyny doesn’t end there. That’s when the misogyny SURGES!
I move to another school. I was broken from the last year as it took a big toll on me. But burns stop being hot after at least a little bit. So i was ready?, for someone else. Well, I guess I was window shopping again thankfully. But this time it was different. I‘m high function autism, and it kinda? shows. But not enough that I need special classes or whatever. But regardless, I saw more attractive men, with better clothes, hygiene, social skills. They got girl’s attention. Well, they got the girls that got MY attention. Hot guys with Hot girls (what a shocker lol). But I felt angry, not at the other men. But at the girls, when I was at my worst, I saw a hot white girl with a tall lightskin dude. (I’m white male btw) And I thought to myself “of course HE gets her.” Even at my worst I rejected that kind of thinking. But that doesn’t change the fact that it came to me naturally.
I would see hot girls and internally label the h*es, sl*ts, you get the idea. Insert chudjak. I saw something on , it was a tweet that said “Nobody calls a woman a hoe more than a man who can’t fuck her”. And that’s when it hit me. I knew it was a me problem. But I just now I INTERNALIZE the idea. And I kept thinking, I‘ve heard people on TwoX talk about male entitlement. And I’ve seen places like and talk about it. I never understood what it meant to be entitled to a woman. But now I do. Think about it. I got mad at a hot white girl, who i have no connection to, with some hot dude. I had NO relations with her. But I was mad somebody else had her? I felt like a victim all along. A victim of what? Unfairness, or even injustice. But everyone get’s justice (morally). And if everyone gets it, everyone’s entitled to it, literally! So denial of my “right” to women is (from this flawed perspective) wrong to do. And logically, to resolve it. I can be given a woman.
If that sounds messed up, it”s because it is. Because when you put it like that, you seem crazy. But I never thought if it like that. And that’s why women pick up on that instantly.
So in conclusion, It’s occurred to me that young boys are taught that getting women is a right. And everyone is entitled to rights, so if you perceive women as the object of s right that you have, you (aware or unaware) will become entitled.
TLDR: Male entitlement to women stems from cultural rhetoric, and when access is denied, it sparks rage.

2024.05.22 01:50 FzxH My rating of every arc from DBZ and DBS

Keep in mind this is my rating of the enjoyment I get out of the arcs, and not what I think they should receive based on the quality of the arc. For example, I think the Buu Saga easily has the biggest and the most issues out of any arc from DBZ, but that doesn't stop my enjoyment of it as you can tell from my rating. I also think I likely have quite a few hot takes and will anger some of you who can't understand that everyone enjoys different things.
Dragon ball Z
Saiyan Saga - 8.5/10, One of my first hot takes I imagine. Don't get me wrong this arc is iconic and from a writing perspective is one of the best in Dragon ball. I still love it obviously but I won't lie I am just a complete hoe for transformations so the lack of cool blonde hair results in this arc being a bit lower for me. Goku vs Vegeta is still so iconic and I enjoyed Raditz as well.
Frieza Saga - 9.7/10, So close to a 10, but I wouldn't quite go all the way there. I love the seeing Gohan and Krillin going around Namek as well as seeing the introduction to Frieza. He's imo the best villain in all of Dragon ball and he made quite a mark in this arc. Some of the scenes with Vegeta made me feel so tense and worried for the characters. Goku showing up and fucking up the Ginyu force is amazing and obviously going SSJ for the first time is one of the best moments in all of manga/anime. I don't really even have many criticisms of the arc, and on some days I may even give it a 10 honestly.
Cell Saga - 9.8/10, Again quite close to a 10 and I hold it in very similar regard to the Frieza saga. I must've watched Gohan going SSJ2 and fighting Cell hundreds of times as a kid. This arc kind of speaks for itself, I still love Gohan's character to this day and his character which lead to this point was great and this was such an amazing payoff. Trunk's introduction is amazing as well and we get cool characters in the Androids too. I could go on even more but I've rambled enough.
Majin Buu Saga - 9.9/10, I'm sure this is where the hate will come. Again let me say, I do not think this arc is better than the others in DBZ, but I'm ranking my enjoyment of it. There are quite a few stupid aspects of the arc and characters like Gohan were greatly mis-used. Regardless of this though I still find this arc to be insanely captivating and entertaining. One big part of it is that I adore kid Trunks, Goten, and Gotenks. We also have Vegeta's big moment which was great for his development. Like I mentioned before I absolutely love transformations and this arc had tons of them. Also, I honestly like Buu as a villain more than most, especially in his fat form and Kid Buu when he just became even scarier.
Dragon Ball Super
Battle of Gods - 9.5/10, Here comes another hot take. It's worth noting I am talking about the movie, not the anime or the manga. Beerus has become one of my favourite characters in all of Dragon ball and I loved his introduction in this movie. I know some have issues with the CGI used in some scenes but overall I loved the animation of the fights. It also has great moments like when Beerus slaps Bulma which pisses Vegeta off and obviously the big fight between Goku and Beerus. I'm a sucker for the more chill shit like the crew all just hanging out and I enjoyed the comedy throughout.
Resurrection F - 9.2/10, Pretty similar to the Battle of Gods really, I enjoyed the silly scenes and comedy and also thought the fight with Frieza was pretty entertaining. Story wise I think this one has some really big faults but overall I still like watching it despite that. Could it potentially have been so much better? Yeah definitely but what can ya do
Universe 6 Saga - 8.6/10, This arc was solid, I just feel it doesn't have the highs that the other arcs have. It dragged on at points and the fights were solid, but nothing that special when compared to many of the fights from other arcs in DBS. Goku vs Hit is definitely the highlight imo but it was also cool seeing Vegeta take on a mentor role with Cabba.
Goku Black - 9/10, this one is tough because it has some really amazing moments, but also as I'm sure most agree the ending is really stupid. Goku Black as a villain makes the arc entertaining nonetheless and there are some well written moments for Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks in it as well. The fights are fun to watch and I love seeing the new forms.
ToP - 9.6/10, This one is hard to rate honestly, as it has some insane highs but also goes on for a long time with some parts really dragging. Overall the high moments in the arc are enough to make me rate it so highly though. Goku vs Jiren is an all time fight and Ultra Instinct is obviously such a good transformation.
Moro - 9.9, This one may come as a surprise, but I absolutely loved reading this arc. It felt a lot more like DBZ than anything else in Super to this point and overall I thought Moro was a great villain. His design was pretty cool before he transformed and overall I thought the character development for Goku and especially Vegeta was great. The whole concept of Moro as a villain and his powers are so interesting and seeing him actually be such a challenge for Goku and Vegeta was really neat. The final battle between all of them is insanely cool and overall I just love this arc.
Granolah - 9.8/10, This is probably also a shock to you all but similarly to the last arc, I just loved the character development for both Goku and Vegeta. Seeing both of their new forms was great and some of the panels with both of them are next level. This arc definitely had some questionable writing decisions but again the highs of the arc far outweigh that to me. There are some interesting characters like Granolah and it was great to see more about Bardock too.
As you can tell, I love both DBZ and DBS a ton and that I have a very different taste than most in regard to my enjoyment of DBZ and DBS arcs. Feel free to give your thoughts on my ratings as well as your own or just any thoughts

2024.05.22 01:50 MathIsArtNotScience Review of Program from a Graduate - C Track

I saw someone else did something like this recently and thought that I might have something to add to the discussion to help people figure out whether they think this program is right for them, or for people currently in the program to help them plan out classes.
My background is very heavy in statistics and finance (I'm an actuary), so my grounding in calculus, statistics, linear algebra, and business topics was considerably better than most of the other people I interacted with in this program. Conversely, I'm sure my programming skills were probably about average or maybe a little bit below compared to someone with a more targeted background towards those skills.
I started in Fall of 2020 and just finished up this month, Spring 2024. I started out just taking one class a semester and never changed up that plan, would highly recommend doing the same if you're working full time alongside; there's no reason to rush this program. I got a 4.0 GPA overall, although I never really stressed that much about it and definitely did not shy away from "harder" classes in order to bolster GPA. I did this to learn, not to get good grades. The classes I took, in order (my memory of some of the earlier ones might be a bit jumbled as so much time has passed):
  1. CSE 6040 - I mentioned how my programming background was weaker relative to my mathematical background. However, reflecting on my experience in this class, it was probably still pretty strong. This class is focused on generalized programming skills, you don't really get into the analytics and modeling that much; it's more of a primer on things like functions, recursion, computer memory management, etc. It's been a few years, but I don't remember struggling with this class at all, and most of the concepts covered (object oriented programming, things like byte encoding, hexadecimal forms, recursion, etc.) were things I was already familiar with in another programming language (this class was in Python) or was relatively easy to pick up. From what I remember, the assignments were auto-graded and you had unlimited attempts, not to mention the fact that most of the prompts were to produce some predetermined result... and, as long as you were able to verify that your code produced that result, you got full points. I didn't miss a single point in this entire class. I believe there were "final exams" which were really just timed window coding assignments much like the homework, and you could do the assignments at any point during a 4-day window or something like that.
  2. ISYE 6501 - This class was R-based and focused on basic analytics models. The material was much more applied than 6040. Similarly, the material was not difficult, and I was familiar with a lot of the basic models already (such as GLMs) from having worked with them in my job. The grading was done on a peer-grading framework; based on who anonymously is assigned your homework to grade, you can get someone who's a stickler for every point on the guide, or people who are a bit more lenient. I never really worried much about how things were graded in this class; yeah, I did miss some points arbitrarily, but nothing that made that much of a difference. If you generally put in the work and understand the material, your peers will recognize that. I found this a bit more interesting than 6040 because, rather than a deterministic "right answer", there was some more creativity implied here to solve each problem. There was a final project for this class where you walked through a hypothetical analytics problem and explained how you would go about solving it. I found this an interesting thought exercise and enjoyed this class. The pacing felt a little fast, as you basically had an assignment due each week, but the assignments were small. Like 6040 I found this class to be quite easy but I didn't 100% it due to the peer grading thing.
  3. MGT 8803 - I almost applied to be exempt from this class, as my background intersects a lot with the material. The accounting and finance modules for this class literally did not teach me anything new. Supply chain was new for me and I found it interesting. I'm trying to remember what the other module was. I think it was marketing? I didn't like it. Overall I found this class quite easy for the aforementioned reasons, however I've heard from a lot of the other folks without business backgrounds that this class was pretty tough so take my opinions with a grain of salt. Taking this in the summer cut out one of the modules, normally there are 5 but in Summer there are 4. I figured this made sense to take during the truncated semester because I was unlikely to cover that much new material, and it turns out I was right about that. Each module lasted 2 weeks (I think in a normal semester it lasts 3) and has a timed multiple-choice test at the end. A lot of people didn't like this format compared to ISYE 6501 and CSE 6040; I'm not really sure how else this material could've been covered. This class was OK, the material is not really that deep but it's a pretty good primer on a large number of business topics.
  4. ISYE 6740 - The first class I took that was actually pretty challenging, which makes sense considering the first 3 courses were just the basic core. This is pretty much an intro to machine learning as a discipline, and the first time I remember digging into academic papers that discuss some machine learning topic and attempting to recreate the results (this is something we did a lot in the more advanced classes going forward and incidentally now that I have graduated is probably one of the best ways to go about learning a new topic). I remember this class as having a format similar to ISYE 6501/CSE6040 in that you had large programming assignments to do, as well as open-book "exams" which were really just timed programming assignments. Assignments are not auto-graded; TA's review each one and thus the assignments have much more of a focus on explaining your findings than producing the exact expected output (unlike 6040). Some of the theory questions have you applying complicated matrix algebra rules that I'm not surprised a lot of people struggled with. The TA responsiveness in this class was pretty good from what I remember, but your mileage may vary. I remember getting 3 weeks to do each assignment but I also remember not thinking that was a lot of time, these assignments are very extensive, have many parts, and take a long time to get through. Like with 6040 I ended up not missing a single point in this class but I did find it difficult and spent significantly more time working on it than in prior classes, probably 10-15 hrs a week, give or take.
  5. ISYE 6644 - I was familiar with maybe 50% of the material we covered due to my extensive statistics background, however I was not aware of the exact mechanics of random number generation or the concept of a batched mean, for example. I remember this class having several "check your understanding" quizzes that focused on the mathematical foundations. Didn't struggle with this much in terms of difficulty and found the material very useful. Setting up custom simulation environments is very useful and arena is pretty cool even if it's unlikely you'll ever use it. Some assignments feature similar tools in Python (simpy). There might have been some coverage of R in this as well, or at least the accommodation for people that wanted to use it. There was a project for this class, but you didn't have to come up with the topic on your own, you could pick from a list, and you could do your project on your own if you wanted (which, given the option, was always the choice I made, due to the inherent randomness in picking the right members of a group). However you can do a group project if you want.
  6. MGT 6203 - The first of the classes I took that required a group project. I recommend you are proactive in putting together groups in situations like these, posting threads on Ed/whatever the forum is as soon as the class begins. My group was alright; not everyone in it was great, but we had enough going overall to make up for the weaker group members. The project has some arbitrary guidelines from what I remember - you need to put together a midterm report and video presentation that is no more than ~2 minutes long or something like that (if it's 2:01 you get penalized) and the final report is 5 minutes or less, and everyone in the group needs to speak. I honestly don't remember much else about this class, it was pretty forgettable, but not horrible. Not overall that difficult, another business class so a lot of topics I was already familiar with, but there was more new here than in 8803.
  7. CSE 6242 - Another class with a group project. Again, I was proactive, and again, overall, my group was... okay. Some people who were really good, some who were... not. This class is characterized by a lot of assignments that are autograded, like 6040, but the assignments are a bit more difficult. Overall not that difficult with the exception of the D3 assignment, but that's more due to the fact that I'm not really sure how the autograder works for that; it tries to determine based on some internal structure of your html code whether or not you're fulfilling the requirements. I got a perfect score on all of the assignments, and they give you the chance to score over 100% on I believe either assignment 1 or assignment 2. A lot of people bombed the D3 assignment (I think it's assignment 2) but still did well in the class because it's not that hard to do well on everything else, so keep that in mind. This class does a great job of exposing you to a lot of new technologies, but there isn't that much depth to it. That's not really the point of this kind of class though, it equips you with the tools to explore things deeper if you so choose.
  8. ISYE 8803 - I was a big fan of this class. It's taught in MATLAB but you can use Python if you so choose, you'll see in reviews of this class that you should really just use MATLAB since a lot of the sample code etc. is not in other languages, so that's what I did. However, they must've recently added Python and R code for sample solutions, so feel free to use what you want. MATLAB was interesting, there were parts of one assignment I also used R for (grouped lasso in R is a lot more straightforward). This class is all about high dimensional data and representing it in a more simplified and comprehensive way, think about something like sonar which might have datapoints separated by milliseconds and thus a very dense representation of a signal captured over a short period of time. After ISYE 6740, I found this to be the class that taught me the most up to this point.
  9. CS 7642 - Taking this class in summer is kind of rough. There's 6 homework assignments that are autograded, similar format to CSE 6040. There are 3 projects which are much larger programming assignments for which you'll write papers explaining methodology, results, etc. These projects take a while, particularly project 3. I did well on projects 1 and 2 and decently on 3, although I spent the most time on 3 by far; it involves reinforcement learning to simulate a soccer environment and train agents how to play against an AI developed externally. The AI baselines are hard to beat, and I didn't manage to beat them, but I wrote a decent paper explaining what I did. The final exam for this class should be dropped as it doesn't add value to the class, people regularly score extremely low on it, the average score in the class was something like a 45%. I scored a bit lower than average but still got an A in the class because it was heavily curved. Reinforcement learning is a very interesting topic, though, and I would highly recommend this class as a primer on the material. It's probably a good idea not to take it in the summer, though.
  10. CS 7643 - This class was pretty difficult but I still think 6740 was tougher. The material is extremely dense. There are parts of programming assignments that are autograded, but also short answer portions that are reviewed by TAs. Grading on those were pretty subjective. This is the only class I can remember really needing to discuss things with TAs to understand what was being asked a little better. Unfortunately, the TAs in the semester I took this weren't the best. They seemed more concerned with unintentionally giving away a bit too much information in any of their responses. I can understand this, but it came off as intentionally opaque most of the time. There was a group project for this course as well, and my group was excellent, probably the best experience I had with a group in this program. I can imagine how much this course would've sucked if I would've had a mediocre/bad group. Based on discussions with my group, some of the grading seemed highly arbitrary, with some TAs grading similar responses to the same question differently. Like I said above, though, I never really worried about this. I never once in this program ever disputed a grade, and I continued with that in this class as well.
  11. CSE 6748 - Practicum and final class. For this class you get to choose between a number of pre-determined Georgia Tech sponsors, or form your own project for your own employesome external entity. It was a lot more work to do this, so I just went with one of the pre-determined GTech ones. I really enjoyed this one, I had constant communication with the sponsor as I developed my project and came up with something that I was quite proud of. I wanted to explore a natural language processing task, so I picked a project that I thought would allow me to do this, and was very satisfied with the result. There's a number of videos you have to watch that explain some overarching aspect of analytics that were pretty interesting as well, you can watch all of these in a single day and then focus on the project if you like. It's possible to finish the entire semester's work in just a few weeks, I was able to do the entire project and write the final paper in about a month's time, at which point I coordinated with the sponsor to tailor the work I did to a format that they would be able to implement for their business problem if they wanted to.
I can't comment on the job placement prospects of this program, as I just finished it and was actively employed the entire time I was in it. As an actuary there's not much this program does that my exam certification process didn't in terms of career prospects. However, it did position me much better within the context of the expanding role of data and analytics in insurance going forward, and also opens me up to similarly mathematical roles with a firmer grounding in big data and also some business elements (quantitative finance/data science roles). There were also things I learned in this program that I was able to apply directly to my day-to-day work. If you're considering this program, I would recommend you think about a few things:
  1. I'm pretty shocked at how many people I saw during my program who didn't really think that much about why they're doing this. I get that the barrier to entry is low, but it's a serious commitment if you're actually trying to graduate. Most of the people who start this program don't finish, so consider whether you're ready to spend almost 4 years going to school part-time, or if you're able to double up on classes for some of the semesters. Most of the people I know in the program doubled up at least once, I never did but I was never in a hurry. If you must double up, don't make it your first semester. Dip your toe in the water, see how it is, and then reassess. But, above all else, think about why you want to do this, and use that as your guiding goal to bring you through to the end.
  2. Something I tended to see pretty much without fail in most of my classes - a lot of the graduate students in this program spend way too much time worrying about minute, particular details that don't really matter. Maybe it was just my philosophy that I would probably never dispute a grade, or that I was never really that concerned with getting a perfect GPA, etc. but I was always marveling at what I saw asked in Ed posts. People would ask whether they could use a certain programming language for an assignment, what packages they were allowed to use, would post screenshots of bugs and ask for TA's to help walk them through it, etc. Generally, without fail, the TAs would respond along the lines of: use whatever programming language you want, as long as you can display your output/submit it in a way that we can verify by running ourselves, we'll make the effort; use the debugger to step through your code to find the problem; etc. Generally, in most cases, the assignments and questions are designed in a way to teach you something, to get you to realize/understand some pattern or data concept that has some underlying logic that makes sense. For example, the idea of saliency maps on image processing takes the 3-channel RGB color pixel shading representation of an image and condenses it into a single channel, and, as a result of that, loses some resolution in suggesting parts of the image driving a model result that might be different depending on the channel; i.e., an image with a very heavily blue-shaded part that detracts from a certain result, but with a red-shaded part somewhere else that increases the probability of the modeled result. This was part of a conceptual question on how saliency maps differed from other pixel influence attribution methods in Deep Learning, and is part of what you should logically understand since it reduces the channels of the image representation from 3 (R, G, B) to 1 (usually grayscale). I think people tend to run to the TA the second they have difficulty with something and don't stop for a second to think it through, one exercise I might recommend is to consider: if you ran into this problem out in the world and you didn't have a TA/managesome other authority figure to explain the answer to you, what do you think it might be? Does the answer even matter? If it still matters and you have no idea how to solve it, maybe then you can go to the TA.
  3. In every single group project I worked on, we had an initial planning session where we determined the scope of what we wanted to do. For most of the projects, this was an essential deliverable in addition to the final paper. However, in almost every case, someone in the group was always playing some game of runaway scope where they kept on wanting to add methods/questions to exploration beyond what was initially planned in ways that I intuitively knew would be impossible to manage in just one semester. I often had to say something along the lines of "if we have time we'll do that" or "when we write up our paper, we can put that in the avenues for future exploration section" or something similar. It turns out that we never had time to look into these things, and our initial scope was usually well-defined considering the time we had. I'm not sure why this was always so front-and-center in my focus, maybe since I used to work in consulting and project budgeting/scoping is so unbelievably important in that context. Whatever the case may be, understand that you won't be able to change the world every time you do a project. Make some incremental improvement, reflect on the results, and then include some notes in a "potential avenues for future exploration" section. I was pretty surprised at how many people had so much trouble putting the pencils down at the end. I can practically guarantee that, for the classes where I did a project on my own, I probably did substantially less work than other individual groups for precisely this reason. In general, you probably don't have to do as much work as you think you do.
So, would I recommend the program overall? Absolutely. It's not perfect, I found some of the formats annoying - CS 7642 has no business having that final exam, it adds nothing to the class at all, is arbitrarily extremely difficult and the class is good enough and complete enough with the removal of that exam that its inclusion to me appears to be the result of some arbitrary quota somewhere. I also don't really like the group project format and profoundly disagree with the reasoning that GTech and most other academic institutions give as to why group projects are even good or necessary, however I do acknowledge that from a logistics and resource standpoint it's unmanageable to grade individual projects for every single person in a given class and group projects do decrease the number of papers that TAs will have to read. Considering the scale of what GTech has managed to do, and how many students enroll each year, I'm surprised the program is as well-managed as it is. Yes, it does require a lot of self-teaching, but in most cases you can actively engage with TAs multiple times a week if you're struggling with topics and from what I've seen they were very responsive.
Anyways just wanted to give my perspective as someone who just finished this program and still thinks it's worthwhile despite its flaws.

2024.05.22 01:46 LuxChromatix Can we Submit CR1/IR1 directly to a Nearby Country that has Shorter Wait Time or else?

Trying to follow the rules but the I-130 could take 1 -.2 years to be reviewed whereas a neighboring country can do the review and approve in less than 7 months.
What is the worst that could happen? Is it a terribly huge deal?
We are comparing a 12 month Priority Date to Green Card vs 3 - 4 years!
And I know I will get angry responses but just looking for legal alternatives? Johannesburg is moving at a warp speed compared to nearby countries.
I value this subs opinions so feel free to pile in and on. Need alternatives if any are available.

2024.05.22 01:44 OogaBooga10000 How to report a seller on the app?

A bit of a rant post, but also trying to see if its possible to report a seller for terrible customer service. I had ordered an item from this seller , my item was marked as shipped for roughly 2-3 weeks, with zero movement whatsoever. It had been pre transit the entire time.
I message them, asking for an update, I wasn't given one regarding any delays until I went and reached out myself. They state it's due to QA reasons and it will be another week or two, I had no issues with this. However upon another week passing with no updates. No change in USPS status, and the delivery window being well exceeded at this point, I opened a case with Etsy and got a refund.
Seller immediately messages me, saying that USPS had picked up the item already and that I will need to close my case with Etsy before the order is canceled.
I checked the status of USPS. STILL pre transit. I told the seller this, he says that the status does not update in real time and should update that afternoon (not true on any order I have ever ordered online, they even time stamp the updates, lol). Etsy was pretty quick to resolve my case so they refunded me, and let the seller keep what I paid, (they waived my klarna total for the amount of the item as it was part of a large klarna order with multiple sellers)
I let the seller know that they had already closed it, seller says that the only way to proceed is for them to send me a new custom order for the total of the item (which would effectively mean they would get paid twice for a bad job, as they were able to keep the total amount of the item already paid even though I was refunded) so that they can keep the same shipping label and have it delivered faster as the post already grabbed it.
Upon messaging them back asking how to do this, I get zero response.
I go ahead and leave a 1 star review. Which in my opinion is justifiable.
The seller responds and says I acted in bad faith, tried getting the item for free, that we had made an agreement to get the item shipped to me the day the case was opened, just blatant lies. Looking at their other 1 star reviews (which I should have done when ordering) it looks like this guy is a raging manbaby that will berate anyone that leaves him a bad review, gives excuses, and in short is nothing but "buyer wrong, I didn't do anything ". The whole experience has me peeved, and it looks like several other people had experiences similar to mine, never receiving their items, items marked as shipped for weeks with no updates, no communication, etc.
How do I report a sellers customer service? Or just report them in general? Or am I SOL on that front. I'm not usually a Karen when it comes to things like this, but the entire interaction kinda pissed me off.

2024.05.22 01:42 Felgrey Help with first home server for media, file+photo backup w remote access

Hi
I'll preface by saying my experience is limited to building 2 personal pc's, tinkering with fan/clock speeds, and basic folder sharing between Windows pc's at home. I've never used dockerfiles or linux so far.
The last few weeks I've been trying to read forums and posts, and watch as many guides and explanations as possible to help get my first understandings of home servers. I've reached a point where I am tipping into overwhelmed with possibilities (probably overthinking), and struggling with how I proceed.
I think I'm mostly struggling with how it all connects and how/what software I need to make it easily remote accessible/a cloud server, so help on this front would be great. Thanks in advance.
First idea: I use my Old PC + new HDD's as the servecloud hardware. (Cheaper and ideal in that it uses old parts)
My understanding so far for this is;
  1. I reset the Win 10 operating system on my Old PC
  2. Remove Win bloatware
  3. Set new HDD's to Raid 5 and format
  4. Install Plex media server
  5. Install Steam with games
  6. Install Moonlight/Sunshine for streaming Far Cry 6
  7. Install Immich or Photosync with Photoprism for auto photo backups from mobile phones
  8. ?Designate folder access for other users on the local network?
  9. Tailscale vpn for remote access (never used it before)
  10. ...unsure if i need to do anything else
Second idea: Buy a Synology device and add HDD. This acts as media+photo+file servecloud and remains on 24/7. Old PC gets turned on intermittently to act as GUI for Web browsing+PC gaming on TV. (upfront more expensive, possibly easier to first setup)
Below are some parameters of what I'm trying to do/use.
Functions to perform:
  1. Connect to tv, other pc’s and mobile devices within local home network for access to personal media (movies, music, photos).
  2. Storage of home media, personal documents
  3. Access to web browsing on TV for ad-free viewing instead of using direct aps like YouTube (I imagine i need a GUI for this such as Windows 10)
  4. Infrequent pc gaming on TV (without using my gaming specific pc to stream from. Far cry 6 on low-ish settings but OK fps).
  5. Auto backup/syncing of photos from Mobile phones.
  6. Avoid needing to use public cloud services like Google Photos/Apple iCloud/Microsoft Onedrive as file sharing/backup/remote access.
  7. Be online and accessible 24/7
Note: I’d welcome any tips to reduce noise and wattage profile.

Planning to buy so far:

2024.05.22 01:41 GreatMaxNaOre [Spoilers?] All dub names from the credits, team themes and RAIMON + HOKUYOU BENCH

Good evening to y'all.
So a few hours ago I commented on a post that was reflecting about the great number of credited voice actors with the full list of the dubbed names for the eleven starting players for both Raimon and Hokuyou Gakuen. But since then I noticed two thing about that list that I believe to be interesting enough to be on its own post.
Every team in Inazuma Eleven follows an aesthetic theme no matter how loose or obvious it is, from something as obvious such as Zeus (greek mythology) or Big Waves (aussie surfers) to some less obvious teams such as Kidokawa Seishuu (mid to upper-class junior college with strong sporting culture) or The Empire (a team from Captain Tsubasa and just how argentinian footballers looked in the 90s and early 2000s, also their names).
The themes of both Raimon and Hokuyou are pretty evident looking at their names. I don't believe this gives us any hint on how their hissatsu or narrative will be but there's a common pattern. I am also going purely by dubbed names, because for me it takes too much time looking at every japanese name.
This list was already posted once by me, as I said, so sorry for the spam. But here it is:
Raimon Eleven Dubbed Names:
  1. Dantouya Kanata - Zander Warmington (warm tones)
  2. Shigure Yuusuke - Viorain Maleby (violet)
  3. Tenguuji Rei - Clement Mariner (clematis, lemon yellow, marine blue)
  4. Toono Zenya - Boone Wretman (no idea lmfao)
  5. Akasode Matsuri - Jazmine Carmine (jasmine and carmine, this one cannot get more obvious)
  6. Kido Satoru - Colton Sharps (coltsfoot)
  7. Arashi Daisuke - Maddock Johnson (earthworms?)
  8. Hoshimura Nao - Eleanor Estella (no idea at first glance? googling brings up a star shaped flower from LOTR. cool reference if true.)
  9. Tsukikage Ren - Darian Moonward (moonwort and maybe clarian flowers?)
  10. Endou Haru - Harper Evans (I don't really think his name is really a coloubotany reference at all I think they just went with the "H" thing but there's harper's beauty)
  11. Nogami Yuu - Talon Lewis (lewis monkeyflower)
As y'all can see there is a clear pattern of their names having references to both COLOURS and BOTANY. I'm also not implying that the Raimon hissatsu will be flower themed or sum' but it makes a lot of sense coming from this Raimon, especially, taking a look on how over-the-top colourful their designs are and how they first stood out to everyone when people found out about them in the first time.
But what's very interesting about this is the following:
So let me put y'all in game. In the credits the names are grouped together in a very particular way. The are loosely sorted by order of apperance but you can see that the names that were present and SPEAKING in the same cutscene appear next to one another. 1) there's the main cast; 2) then the people from the Raimon vs Hokuyou cutscene; 3) the three more relevant adults from the first chapter that appeared in different cutscenes; 4) then the baseball club cutscene dudes; 5) the rest of the Raimon team; 6) ??????????; 7) the rest of the Hokuyou team and 8) ?????????????
What were those spoiler tagged groups? We don't know for sure. But they're both composed of FIVE names that follow the thematic sense of the previous group. Five as always been the size of a bench in Inazuma Eleven and following the thematic names thing. I believe they are the bench players of both Raimon and Hokuyou, because they cannot be anyone else anyways.
In Raimon they are: Mama Sigdale (sidalcea), Nino Gamberini (idk lol), Kaeo Springfield (cannot get more flowery than this), Milan McGrath (grafting horticulary technique, shoutouts to both my nan and my boy Josefumi Kujou) and Hortensia Raintree (hortensia is a synonym of hydrangea and also their name in español and portuguese).
I would go instantly to Hokuyou Gakuen's possible bench but I'mma go for the main team first to say what I believe to be their pattern of thematic names:
  1. Jinnai Gohei - Milo Rankin
  2. Yagura Takajin - Peake Fletcher (a fletcher is an arrow vendor)
  3. Jouhekidou Sanpei - Sentry Scarborough (sentry guard)
  4. Yarisaki Yuuji - Autry Rogers (auditor, medieval occupation related to accounting)
  5. Tonda Mannen - Bohdi Field (field for battlefield or crops field, most likely the former due to the given name)
  6. Hohira Ayumu - Chase Winthrop (calthrop, anti-cavaltry medieval weapon)
  7. Kishibe Towa - Hawky Savard (no idea, sounds like the most british insult ever tho, read it in a heavy north yorkshire or scouse accent for bonus comedy points)
  8. Shinkari Eito - Taliesin Greenhunt (taliesin is the name of a mythical bard, also "to hunt")
  9. Shinano Masashi - Ivan Mercer (a mercer is an textiles seller)
  10. Tomobe Jin - Erdem Barath (also zero clue)
  11. Soramiya Sei - Nikas Himmelstein (himmel is german for sky/heaven)
So yeah. I believe there's a pattern of MEDIEVAL themed names here. Some are very obvious like the Sentry, Mercer and Fletcher names. Again, not claiming anything about their history, how they'll play in the narrative, hissatsu or anything else. The five names next to them are even more obviously medieval themed than these eleven!
They are: Hugh Pronghorn (prong as in pointed parts of a pointy weapon or tool, think about the Three Pronged Attack tactic in the game), Denzel Harvest (it could either go to damsel or harvest, you pick), Everett Shipman (ship), Armin Marshall (could go to marshall for stable keeper, marshall for military commander or martial for military) ,and finally Conley Quiver (a quiver is a container for arrows).
All the other names are of people we already know because they were in the first chapter, but there are a few exceptions and some more info about some characters we already saw:
Verity is the name of Unmei's mother and Howell is the name of Briar's father. By exclusion of parts we can determine that Raimon's coach is named Addison Norris and the manager is named Leia Caperton.
Then there are five names that I can only assume to be the baseball club's? But they could also be the thug's? Maybe a mix of both? I would go with them being the baseball club's on the very basis of simply believing that they will be named in the future, as they will be recruitable characters for the football team and we already saw them in a 5x5 battle in a trailer. The thugs already had their chance of being named but they went by Thug A, Thug B and Thug C. They are:
Maximus Cordray; Eamon Cattrall; Zayn Pinegrove; Kendrick Townsend; and Flynn Duval.
And that's all. I am also totally open to corrections, I am a fallible human being, as is everyone else. Would love to see y'all's input in the names and their themes and inspirations. Also sorry for not digging the japanese names.
Thank you for reading. :))

Cowards, They Say: The Tale of the Timid

Suppressing opposing views is often seen as a sign of cowardice because it demonstrates an unwillingness or inability to engage with different perspectives. Here are some behaviors that reflect cowardice in suppressing other views:

1. Censorship

  • Description: Actively removing or blocking content that expresses opposing viewpoints.
  • Example: Deleting comments or posts that disagree with one's own beliefs on social media or forums.

2. Silencing Critics

  • Description: Using authority or influence to silence those who dissent.
  • Example: Threatening job security or social standing to prevent people from speaking out.

3. Refusal to Debate

  • Description: Avoiding open discussion or debate with those who hold different opinions.
  • Example: Declining invitations to public forums or debates where opposing views will be presented.

4. Ad Hominem Attacks

  • Description: Attacking the person rather than addressing their arguments.
  • Example: Insulting someone's character or motives instead of engaging with their ideas.

5. Echo Chamber Creation

  • Description: Surrounding oneself only with like-minded individuals to reinforce existing beliefs.
  • Example: Only joining groups, forums, or social circles where everyone agrees with the same views.

6. Spreading Misinformation

  • Description: Deliberately sharing false or misleading information to discredit opposing views.
  • Example: Posting fake news or altered facts to sway public opinion against an opposing perspective.

7. Intimidation and Bullying

  • Description: Using threats or aggressive behavior to discourage others from expressing differing opinions.
  • Example: Harassing or threatening someone online or in person to make them stop voicing their views.

8. Selective Hearing

  • Description: Ignoring or dismissing opposing viewpoints without consideration.
  • Example: Interrupting or talking over someone when they present a different opinion, or simply not acknowledging their points.

9. Misrepresentation

  • Description: Deliberately distorting or misrepresenting an opposing view to make it easier to attack.
  • Example: Creating a straw man argument that oversimplifies or misrepresents the actual position of the opponent.

10. Dogmatism

  • Description: Adhering rigidly to one’s own beliefs and refusing to consider alternative perspectives.
  • Example: Declaring that one's own view is the absolute truth and that any other perspective is invalid.

11. Exclusion and Ostracism

  • Description: Excluding or ostracizing individuals who hold different views.
  • Example: Socially isolating or unfriending people who disagree, rather than engaging in dialogue.

12. Policy Manipulation

  • Description: Using rules or policies selectively to suppress dissenting opinions.
  • Example: Enforcing community guidelines or terms of service in a biased manner to silence specific viewpoints.

Conclusion

These behaviors reflect a lack of confidence in one's own beliefs and an unwillingness to engage in constructive dialogue. They undermine the principles of free speech and open debate, which are essential for the healthy exchange of ideas and the growth of knowledge. Confronting and addressing these behaviors is crucial for fostering an environment where diverse perspectives can be heard and respected.

2024.05.22 01:36 Evarice11 Re-infected? Advice for next steps? [NSFW]

Am I reinfected? See pics:
After treatment, I had what I think is a burrow (a line of red dots) and it grew to two more paths. It’s been a few days.
Backstory
I’ve had scabies before and having it again is traumatic, especially since in my first scabies infection my PC/GP said it was cleared, but then I infected someone.
Ive been reluctant to see a doctor this time around.
I live in the US, and I got scabies traveling around South America. I haven’t been officially diagnosed but symptoms are similar to my first encounter. In South America I was able to get permethrin and lathered more than the recommended amount of 2 doses. Still got itching at night. After 2 months, I got ivermectin. Still itched at night and had burrows.
I did both oral ivermectin and permethrin lotion twice spaced 7 days apart. It’s been 2 weeks since the last treatment.
I get itchy red bumps randomly of course, and I think I have some itching at night, but it’s not so bad—I can ignore it.
But I’m worried about that trail on my thigh (see pic).
My scalp, eyes, inside of ear and nostrils itch sometimes. I think the mites got up there. I’m worried if I go to a doctor they won’t believe it’s there.
It’s been 4 months since I got infected.
I’m looking for advice. The anxiety around this isn’t helping my decision making.
Options:
A. Buy a USB microscope. Scanning all over my body would give me peace of mind or help me find “proof”
B. Go to a dermatologist and do skin scrape. I’m distrustful of doctors saying I’m in the clear when I’m not. A skin scrape isn’t a guarantee I’m scabies free.
I suppose the dermatologist could recommend other treatments besides ivermectin and permethrin if they find scabies still.
C. Buy Benzyl Benzoate recommended by people in this subreddit and apply for 4 days straight, then reapply after a week—alongside taking ivermectin. (AKA continue to self-medicate)
D. Wait a few more weeks.
E. Other

2024.05.22 01:36 Unlikely_Weakness_35 A Community Takeover of an NFT Drop? It's Happening.

A Community Takeover of an NFT Drop? It's Happening.
It's that time! Time for you, the community, to take over the next $KUMGO NFT drop. As an added incentive, we are giving away 2 million $KUMGO to the top 3 most loved entries. Drop your best art below. 3 max per person.
For those who don't know, $KUMGO is the meme coin based on the Kum & Go gas station chain in the Midwest. Our site is kumgocoin.com.
Entries are now free. You're not required to hold any $KUMGO in your Sol Wallet. When minting starts next week, you will need to hold 250k $KUMGO at time of mint.
The top 3 most liked entries will get 1m $KUMGO for 1st place, and 500k $KUMGO for second and third place. In addition, you will get a free mint of your NFT that you can sell AND get a 5% kickback every time it's resold. You will need a Solsea account and be a cocreator. Easy process. So get those likes however you are able to.
I'm excited to see what you got. Entries close on Monday, May 27, 2024.
Guidelines:
  1. Nothing that can be considered hate speech is allowed. Pretty much anything that could be considered bigoted or hateful is out. It just brings down the vibe.
  2. We want to keep submissions in the PG-13 area. NSFW might be considered for a later drop but we're looking for Double Entendres not Single Entendre. If you do have an NSFW one, it needs to be REALLY good and clever.
  3. Has to in some way incorporate Kum & Go as well as some aspect of gas station/convenience store culture.
There's lots of themes and narratives to play with. I encourage you to check out our site at Kumgocoin.com if looking for inspo.
So that's really it. Go crazy. All types of art including video, photography and music is accepted and there's no limit in the tools you can use. Anything from AI to paint is acceptable.
Drop Mechanics:
On the minting side, it's first come first serve so I will message the qualified applicants asking what their top choices are depending on their placement. For example, the first qualified applicant will be asked their top choice, second would be asked for top two, third top 3 and so on and so forth.
I will be setting up a gallery on the website with all the entries to make picking and choosing easier.
For the artists whose work gets chosen to mint, you will need to set up a Solsea acct so when I mint the NFT, I can set you up as co-creator and lock in your royalty every time it's sold.
So that's it! Can't wait to see what you got. Drop your art in the following Twitter thread:
https://twitter.com/KumGoSol/status/1792897509427175839?t=r9CXk5z1vd9UtmrMds0Pzg&s=19
Good luck!

2024.05.22 01:35 mashal-63009 my exams just finished and im looking for books + reading slump

PLEASE help me.
After my exams,, ive fallen into the worst reading slump ever : Read 10 chapters of Red Queen and hated it. Finished Divine Rivals ,, it was fine Read atleast half of LegendBorn and liked it at the start -- but it went downhill very fast. i dindt understand a thing
I CANT SEEM TO FIND ANY GOOD BOOKS RECENTLY THAT I CAN FALL IN LOVE WITH?!
please help me!! -- posted in 3 diff subs and havent found anything that caught my eye! ive lost all motivation to read and i really want to get back to it!!
So ive loved quite a few books so far, but all along the themes of fiction,, romantasy, mystery, thriller et.c
  1. A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson (i found her other stuff good too tbh)
  2. Six of Crows (liked the SaB show too - currently reading king of scars and its SO fun to start a new book after so long of exams)
  3. EDIT : King of Scars : finished it! I really liked it - maybe cause it was the first book i read after my huge exam gap? I felt that Rule of Wolves did not live up to it though,, the ending was too rushed.
  4. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas*(read up till ACOMAF upto now and loved it)
  5. Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
  6. The Housemaid by Friedda Mc Fadden (i loved the sequel too... honestly found the first book very similar to SILENT PATIENT)
  7. Fourth Wing (needs no explanation - read IF too)
  8. Rick Riordan's books
  9. Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger (seems childishh but honeslty i find it as good as Rick Riordan cause its really interesting)
Before this, as to books ive hated - Cassandra's Clare Mortal Instruments series. Too weird and the writing style was horrible for me. Just read Book 1
(i will request to comment with the book how much smut it has because i usually skip those scenes due to religious prefrences)

2024.05.22 01:31 Confident-Ad3155 What skills can I learn to work from home?

I have a lot of extra time at work with a laptop and access to wifi. I've already started doing my own small side hustle which is English tutoring online. It's nice to meet new people and I actually enjoy it a lot more then I thought I would. My problem is, it doesn't pay a lot (about 7.50 per hour) and I have maybe 2 classes a day. I'm still left with plenty of time to commit to another project. A couple ideas I had already been considering: -Getting a degree from WGU in Accounting (Accounting has nothing to do with my current job but I did do an internship for accounting when I was in college. I dropped out in 2022.) -doing some type of drop shipping -get into some type of Turo business where I borrow a loan to get a car and just rent it out. I can have a friend pick it up or drop it off and I'd just uber him home.
Some data points: I'm 21 My job is one where I can't leave my building until 8pm I have a laptop I opened my LLC for my tutoring business. My idea behind it was to get a couple of business cards to build history without really using them. I do plan to pursue the Turo idea in the future but I don't have a car at the moment to even start. Still building on my credit on the personal side.
These are all long Term goals, I'm more looking for other ways to improve myself. I've been working out for about 30 minutes since I have a couple weights here, but I want to do something genuinely productive. I've so far taught myself more about financial literacy through YouTube. Started getting my credit together, building an emergency fund, investing into some stocks (about 100-200 month, nothing crazy bc my income isn't that high to begin with). I want to know what else can I do? I'd really like to keep this job as it pays enough for my bills and a little more, and this free time could be used to develop something. Thanks for reading my rant lol

2024.05.22 01:28 becausej Looking for Advice (1400-1800 usd)

My current PC, which has a Ryzen 7 3700X cpu & Radeon RX 5700 gpu is rapidly losing performance with it's age. I'm looking for advice on if I need a new one/what to do. My concern should I choose to replace just one or two parts is that I'm unsure what's causing the issues (I know the GPU is having issues) and I'm concerned if I replace it part by part and end up having to do it all anyway then it'll be super expensive and a lot of work. I'm happy to offer more info about what I have/am looking for if needed. I haven't build a computer before, but from what I've read it should be manageable following youtube guides?
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Gaming PC for LoL/Fortnite/Apex and probably bits of other stuff like minecraft/OW etc. I'll also be using it sometimes for work/school running probably mostly java/python code.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
I'm planning to buy with memorial day weekend sales this weekend.
What is your budget for the build?
I'm hoping for around $1400 - $1600, but it can go a bit higher if it would be a big improvement.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
I think tower and everything inside, but my monitomouse/keyboard are all fine.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
In US and have a microcenter 20 minutes away.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Mouse and keyboard should work with anything I think, monitor is LG.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
No overclocking for me.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Would like at least a 1 TB SSD.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I have pretty much no visual or size preferences (but would prefer a bit quieter if possible - maybe water cooling?)
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
I believe I do need a copy of windows - ideally 10 and not 11.
Thank you!

It's absolutely fun to drive even with the stock 10 speed. Yes! I know it's a ticking time bomb but when it goes I'm ready for the +750 hp transmission from WC Fab. When that happens the truck will also go in for compound turbos. Going for 1000hp then.

2024.05.22 01:18 furyian24 Lying Neighbors

You know... had to find a place and there is a subreddit for everything. Glad I found this place. I'm just going to write because I want to beat the living shit out of this man every time I see him and I need to calm my ass down. My left leg is itching to land a roundhouse on this man.
A few months ago, I was talking about cars with a neighbor who lived across the street from me. We usually have talks about his car, my car, and my bike, and we talk about old-school cars. Just one dude having a fun conversation with another.
I had left my garage open, and my dogs. I have 2 of them. One I rescued from a family who couldn't keep it. The other landed on my lap and I've been taking care of it and is now considered my own.
Well, these 2 got out, and started roaming around about 70 ft from my property. Started sniffing around and found the scent of another dog and was curious. I didn't notice this at first of course.
They end up in this man's front yard. Who knows maybe they marked their territory a little drizzle here and there on their grass. Anyway, this man comes out and starts yelling "Get your dog off my yard". I didn't hear him at first or could make out what he was saying, and I realized my dogs had gotten out. I call my dogs, and they are well-trained, they both respond quickly and come running back.
I was a bit offended damn man. They meant no harm. Don't have to yell and shit you know. They are smelling another dog. They are interested in finding out more about this other animal that took a shit and piss in your yard. That's what dogs do. Anyway, I yelled back sorry! I meant it, I was sincere about it. I even started walking over there to show concern of course. He does not respond to me other than saying loudly, "Leash your dog". At that point, I'm over it, my buddy and I crack some jokes about the dude to laugh it off.
Like wtf got up this guy ass at 9 pm? Do you stare out the window all night looking for dogs that may end up in your front yard? We have a good laugh and we talk some more car, my dogs are cool with my buddy. Animals know instinctively who is friendly and who isn't. Oddly that's what I've noticed.
The next morning, after I have taken my kids to school. This jackass walks up to me in his version of workout clothes. I have never seen him ever since I've been taking my kids to school every morning but today was a special day. He has his airpods on, sneakers, and running shorts. Then he comes up to me and talks some mad shit. He's obviously spent the entire night thinking about how he's going to put me in my place or some shit. I just tell the guy to walk away. He says to me "What are you going to do about it?" Say what? What is this? Do what, I asked you to get out of my face right?
Jesus man... this dude, is pushing like the mid-50s to early 60's. I'm younger obviously, I'm thinking you trying to go toe to toe? I tell him to walk away. He tells me his wife is Korean and I'm Korean so he's trying to make some level of connection here, implying he knows something about my culture and he is disappointed as he should know there is some level of cultural impact I should have being a Korean and the way I have responded to him is not to his liking. Thus, I must show some level of respect or bend a knee or some weird shit, as if he understood Koreans to be something different than I am. Entitled as fuck this guy. He wants to feel superior and wants to be bowed down to. A total sense of entitlement right? Superiority complex of some kind. Fuck he annoys the fuck out of me. I keep calm and tell him to get the fuck out of my face but nicer. "Just leave man, no need for you to be in front of me, just gotta go move along," is what I told him.
No offense but I'm looking at this white dude here, and look I can say it because my uncle is white, married my aunt and we had a great relationship. No disrespect but who the fuck is this dude to start bringing up Korean this Korean that, we're in the US man. He acts disrespectful to me and gives me the middle finger as he walks away after me telling the guy on at least four other occasions to get going and stay out and away from my personal space. I'm like whatever, I'm over it. He means nothing really. He means less to me than let's say, a piece of rubber or something. I could care less.
Then he went ahead and told the HOA that my dogs had taken multiple shits in his yard, and I have never bothered to pick up after them. I make sure to pick up shit especially if it's on someone else's yard right. Of course, I respond back to HOA, and tell them, they got bigger things to worry about and they really have bigger shit to worry about than some bs complaint.
I'm sure that got that little ball sack of low-life fucking pissed right. I mean I got 2 tiny dogs. Each weighs less than 10lbs. One is around 6 lbs other is around 7.5 lbs. They are not fucking pit bulls here. Apparently, he also said my dogs were vicious.
That never went far. Anyway, yesterday, my kids got home from school, they wanted to visit a neighborhood friend and left the garage open. A lady was walking by. She was Asian, I can tell. How? I have cameras. I was also upstairs and looked out my window which is directly above the garage because I didn't hear the garage door close.
Well these 2 little shits went barking at her. She didn't flinch just kept on walking. I tell the kids close the garage. Today the big man over there and another lady who lives across the street from him, (I suppose birds of a feather flock together) rang my doorbell after I dropped my son off at school. I come downstairs, and this asshole pounds my door to show his impatience. I'm thinking cops? I open the door it's this asshole and his neighborhood lady friend.
I ask them what's the visit for, she tells me that when she was walking yesterday, my dogs "attacked" her and the dickhead standing next to her adds more dramatic impact and says, they even bit her. I'm fucking laughing inside. I saw the whole thing myself from upstairs. The lady my dogs barked at was Asian, her hair was black, I can still see her face from my upstairs bedroom window. I saw my dogs run up and bark at her and sniff her shoes and bark some more before my kids called them in. This lady was covered in long white sleeve and long white walking pants, white sneakers, a hat to cover the sun, and a face mask because she's Asian of course and we all hate the sun. Her walking stature was that of a woman in her mid 40 to 50's, and this lady in front of me that was supposedly attacked was again not Asian, and the lady claiming that she got attacked is about 30 years older, not even capable of walking no more than 200 feet from her property. She does not wear walking attire obviously made in China or Korea. I know because I'm Korean and older women wear exactly that type of clothing in Korea or Asia when they walk in daylight. They like to avoid the sun, but get their walks in. Jesus.... the fucking lies in this shit is humor at this point.
The lady in front of me is too old, let alone is capable to walk past my property or take daily walks. I work at home remotely man, I would have noticed if this lady was to type to take walks at 3 pm. I pick my kids up and I'm active outside during that time.
This lying POS goes a bit further and says, he thinks my dogs even broke skin. I look at her finger. I see nothing. No bite marks nothing, not even a scratch. No blood. Just straight-up lies. I apologize to the lady regardless. I tell her I'll cover her medical expenses (which means medical report, and doctor bill) she stutters a little, says no need. If she broke skin, and my dogs bit her, she would be at my house the minute it happened. Fucking lying ass dumb idiots. This man now dragged this lady into his lies you know.
Then I look at this mother fucker in the eye and my fucking legs are twitching, and in my mind, I want to land a roundhouse, I gauged the distance, and it would land on the right side of his face. Shit would have been a 10/10 perfect kick I'm thinking.... yea dipshit, something else you should know about Koreans, most of us take some sort of martial arts early in our youth and that never really stops. Seeing how you say you know so much about my culture, did that not enter your fucking head?
Anyway, I look at this sorry excuse for a man, a fucking coward and I ask him why he's here? If the lady is the one who got bit, then perhaps this is between me and her, right? He says he's there with her because he cares. Like hell, you do. You dragged this lady in your lies and she's going along with you but it's not the truth. You sorry ass POS, now dragged another individual into your BS. You still can't get over our last encounter and you are dying to come over and start some new shit. I asked you to walk away, but you didn't like it. You felt disrespected. In your spare time, you've been scheming ways to get back because you were never satisfied.
Anyway, he brings my dogs up again and says he'll call the police. I tell him to do what he's gotta do. That pissed him off because I called his bluff and he can't pull through and execute. I'm fucking with his ability to do anything about it. He now feels small again.
He said I should leave the neighborhood. I bought this fucking house, so I tell him you have money? You wanna buy me out? He has none, he says, "I don't want another house" Okay well then shut the fuck up right. I tell him at this point he should leave. The audacity of this little shitbag to tell me to move out of my own house is something else. Once again this sense of entitlement, where do you get it from?
Anyway, he's giving me the middle finger this whole time like a bitch hiding behind his safety blanket or something right. He's doing all kinds of weird shit right now. Like throws both fingers up, turns around does a 180, and gives me another two fingers. He's doing this like 10 times. What the fuck is wrong with this guy right? In front of the old lady which he seemed to have convinced to carry out the lies with him. I can tell at this point, she's about had it. She no longer wants to be involved. Again, if a person got bit by a "vicious dog" and was bleeding, she would not have acted this way right? She got called out on her hand, she tried to play along with his lead, how my dogs broke the skin, getting bit by them... all that, but she's got no bite marks, and my dogs don't bite. I know this. At the end she tells me she doesn't want my dogs on her yard, but she's okay with other dogs on her yard. So it's a personal thing, okay no worries I tell her.
Then he brings up the culture thing again. "You know my wife is Korean.... she's disgusted with you...blah blah" I respond, "I am Korean and my entire family is Korean and they would be disgusted with you," and then I tell him, "You don't understand us Koreans, we have mutual respect and honor, you have none, and that's why you're not getting any"
Guy walks away looking as small as he is, caught in his lies. When I knew all along what happened, his face turns fucking tomato red. Just what the fuck? How sick is this guy in the head? Anyway, I don't expect anything, just thought I'd write, for the internet and the entire world.
