2024.05.22 00:12 neen209 EDD is driving me crazy

Been on disability since Feb 15. not once have i got paid on time. always something comes up, and i get delayed for a month or so.
last time they paid me full back pay was 5/3. they said they received all the documents needed to verify my identity. then, I get sent an appeal letter, because they said I was missing my SS statement.
I submitted that document on 4/24. i went down to the closest office, and they confirmed that they have it, but now my claim is with the fraud department, and they cant release a payment until fraud department verifies all documents.
i call twice a week, and get the same update. there is nothing that can be done, as it is with the fraud department so the field department cant do anything. this is ridiculous.
All over ID verification, which i gave them everything they asked for. i have no idea why my claim is having issues like this.
since Feb 15, I have only got 3 payments. one was with back pay, and they owe me almost 4 weeks of payments at the moment…

2024.05.22 00:07 Dextrophik Oh look another late 20s lonely guy

No idea where this is going but I've got time to kill at work..
As far as I'm feeling at this moment, I think I'm fine. I'm pretty worn down though and wondering how many days off the gym and 10+hr sleep days will get me fresh.
Anyway, I'm a 29 year old dude in Canada. I have a pretty good job in the defense sector, but I'm not great with finances. My hobbies and passions are expensive, and I often overpay for things so I don't have to think about it in the moment.
I live at home, as 2500+ for an apartment eating 60+% of my salary hasn't sounded exactly appealing but its almost time here. I don't think I want to live with my parents this time next year, at 30 years old.
My big issue is not being in a romantic relationship. That fact has always been the driving force behind most of the actions I take to be honest. I'm just realizing it now, so yeah, the ROI doesn't seem worth it.
By actions I mean anything to do with fitness and appearance, the music I listen to, and most the little things I do on any given day, that might challenge me or make me avoid or cover up pain in some way ( little self care habits or things like weed, supplements, nootropics, drugs in general to keep me somewhat functional, mostly by masking some of the pain).
I'll be blunt and objective about my situation, and its this:
29, single since 19
Good looking guy, gotten better looking over time, but short, and my hair is a semi-permanent piece.
I've got self esteem issues for sure, and I can't say I always put off the best energy, being depressed and all.
I avoided, or just flat-out didn't try to find anyone really. I used to just open up tinder and feel a mix of emotions that would just ball up into anxiety or butterflies. Weird mix of excitement resentment and hopelessness.
Last year I decided I was going to make big life changes. Learn a new language (Spanish), learn music in some form (bass guitar), improve my finances, quit some of my bad habits, and find love.
Well the year started off pretty good. Dove into a Spanish learning book, got stuff for my bassguitar thats sat for a decade, started journaling every day (failing to keep up with this).
By mid Feb around Valentines day and my birthday, things had been rocky. A bunch of health scares, a couple of injuries, car was fucking up left and right, started working 10 hours daily (Back to 8 after a month as side gig got kiboshed), some money stuff etc..
I heard about the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and decided to give that a watch, not knowing what to expect, and it kinda broke something inside me, for the better.
Another shitty thing that happened was I got stopped at the border late January (Can to US), because the dog smelled cannabis in my bag (there was none, but they found something that had residue on it and bam, not allowed in the US). This is funny timing because not two weeks later I matched with this girl that lived in California, and after talking for a bit and me finding out how closely our niche music tastes lined up, and just how beautiful i found her.. Like maybe not everyone's type, kind of gothic, not very active on social media, but something about her... just looked unique and I still think she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen.
You can judge my.. judgement all you want, and it might be fair. Some people just flip some specific switches in your head and make things light up. No one did that like this... I quickly got familiar with the concept of limerence but even after acknowledging that was probably happening here, I didn't care.
I honestly just over pursued.. I didn't send her a bunch of texts, but I started writing these long love letter things. I honestly can't believe how head over heels and dopey I was being. It lasted for probably 2 months, ending after I started talking with a few other girls, and actually meeting someone a city over at a concert that said she really liked me.
Felt like the longest 2 months of my life, there was a lot and I mean A LOT of pain, and I had no idea that I was capable or susceptible to something like this based off so little. We didn't even voice chat, and we hardly talked about anything other then music.
I just created this compelling fantasy world in my head and I was conflating things like my new desire to leave Canada and eloping with what I was projecting to be the woman of my dreams.
I'll never know where it could have actually went because I could not keep this shit to myself. Around the time this limerent episode started I got this ENORMOUS boost in energy and ambition, like I hadn't felt before. Didn't matter what drugs I was put on or what state of health, being etc I was in. This was bizarrely strong and I actually forgot about my vices. Almost completely, and all of them. In the span of 3 weeks, I had cold stopped THC (2nd time in 14 years), I got off nicotine, I cut my spending in half and adhered to my diet better than I ever had before.. a little too well (24lbs lost in 3 weeks).
It seemed like this daze I was in was like a dopamine geyser from within that had never been found before.
As soon as the deterioration phase of limerence started (the day I found out there was 0 reciprocation), those habits came flying back, starting off with the vape again. Just one disposable cause I wanted to have a moment outside this church for some reason... I felt really compromised, embarrassed, disappointed and a lot of self loathing.
I started doing private vlogs that day too. I found that to be very insightful and good for processing this stuff, but it became emotionally draining and I got tired of hearing and seeing myself pretty fast.
As weird as it is to admit this. I miss living in that simulated romance. It felt like it was driving me to the real thing.. maybe it still will, but I feel my motivation to do so has dropped off after this shit.. Music just sounded better, everything felt deeper, I had a weird but unsustainable sense of purpose. Now everything feels hollow and plasticy..
I'm pretty much past that now, and I don't know how to feel about that. I know what I should feel... GOOD, but I just kind of feel nothing.

2024.05.21 23:45 mikosullivan How we could save Star Trek: Lower Decks and create Star Trek: Legacy

How we could save Star Trek: Lower Decks and create Star Trek: Legacy

Mike O'Sullivan • May 2024 • mike@cerritosenterprises.com
Executive summary
We can save Lower Decks and create Legacy, but it will take more than appeals to Paramount. It will take money. These series can be fostered by a group of business savvy Star Trek fans. It would be a profit making venture that could also give Star Trek fans more of what they want.
Key takeaways:
Historical background
Star Trek TOS was the first show ever extended because of a letter writing campaign. NBC and Desilu executives were impressed enough by the campaign to extend the show one more season.
At the time, determining television ratings was a young science. Shows were only rated by percent of total viewers. Demographics were not taken into account. Only a few years later, NBC executives realized that Star Trek was actually a big hit. It attracted young, middle class Americans… one of the most sought after markets in the world. Ever since then, Star Trek has had a symbiotic but complicated relationship with fans and networks.
Recent background
Unlike TV ratings in the 1960s, streaming services know quite a bit about viewership. They know which shows are popular and the demographics of those viewers. They know exactly how much money each show is bringing in. Apparently, Star Trek isn't doing well enough to attract their investment dollars.
Paramount is in the midst of serious financial difficulties. Their stock has declined by 50% in the last year. Their streaming service, Paramount+, lost $490 million last year, which was an improvement over the previous year when they lost about $575 million. All of Paramount's revenue streams are down, they're over leveraged, and they have a cash flow problem. [https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/paramount-streaming-loss-subs-1235838684/] Paramount is struggling to make ends meet, so they're making cuts. We wish they weren't cutting back on Star Trek, but tough decisions have to be made.
Executives presumably already knew that there would be campaigns to save Lower Decks and create Legacy. They've already taken that into account. Unless a campaign is overwhelming, it's unlikely to change their minds.
The plan
It's important to understand that this plan is based on profit, not fandom. While there is certainly a place in the world of commerce for doing something because it's cool, profit is the engine that drives business.
I propose here a plan in which a group of investors form a company devoted to investing in Star Trek. This plan would reduce Paramount's risk while leveraging the popularity of Star Trek. As business ventures go, the plan would be relatively low risk because it only moves forward if certain contracts could be arranged. However, even with contracts signed, it would take a significant investment to get the cameras rolling.
First, let's look at some numbers. I'm working from memory here, but I think these numbers are close enough for an overview of the situation.
It costs about $3 million to produce an episode of Lower Decks. It costs about $8 million for an episode of Discovery, so Legacy would probably cost around the same amount. For the purposes of this discussion, we'll only look at Lower Decks. The same principles would apply to Legacy on a larger scale. A ten episode season of Lower Decks would therefore cost around $30 million. Hollywood accounting can get tricky… an expense item can get allocated among multiple projects that might not seem related. Therefore, a per-episode estimate is fuzzy and doesn't necessarily extrapolate into a season-long budget. We'll go with a season budget of $30 million here. Reality will adjust those numbers as necessary.
In terms of corporate structure, there are two Paramount divisions involved in producing Lower Decks: Paramount Studios and Paramount+. This plan drops Paramount+ out of the equation, instead relying on other streaming services like Netflix.
So let's get to the actual plan.
A group of investors would form a company called Cerritos Enterprises. Those investors would probably be Star Trek fans… the tech world is filled with Trekkies. However, remember that this is a profit making endeavor, so fanship isn't a requirement.
Cerritos Enterprises wouldn't initially need to raise a huge amount of money (as startups go). $1 million would probably be a good start, enough to show that the company is a real, established startup that's ready to do business. They would need to provide evidence that they can raise more funds if the deal goes forward. That makes it relatively low risk because more money isn't invested until there are signed contracts. (I'm going to stop saying "relatively" every time I say "low risk". Just assume the risk is always relative to the general risk of any business startup.)
Having established credibility, Cerritos Enterprises makes proposals to two companies: Paramount and a streaming service, say Netflix.
To Paramount, they propose hiring Paramount Studios to produce Lower Decks. That would appeal to Paramount because it would be low risk: they don't have to proceed until they have at least some cash in hand.
To Netflix they propose that Netflix would carry the show. Netflix would be the biggest risk taker: they can't know for sure how popular the show would be on their platform. However, Netflix is in a good position to take risks. They made $5.4 billion profit last year, up from the previous year. In fact, they have been consistently profitable every year since 2011. [https://www.businessofapps.com/data/netflix-statistics/] They're a good candidate for a risky entertainment venture.
The proposals involve sharing expenses. Each player would contribute money. For example, Cerritos Enterprises would kick in $10 million, as would Paramount and Netflix. Paramount's investment would be in-kind… they produce the show with the knowledge that Netflix is already ready to buy. Netflix would need to kick in some money before delivery to get production going.
Allocating profits would get complicated. Paramount might want more than just payment for producing the show; they would want revenue based on the popularity of the show. Netflix might not be satisfied with just adding a great show to their platform: they might want a share of merchandising or of future expansion of the franchise. All of that would have to be worked out.
If we go with these numbers, Cerritos Enterprises would need to pony up about $10 million. To give some perspective, $25 million is considered the sweet spot for first round investment in a tech startup. Most startups fail, so an investment of $10 million in a low risk venture wouldn't phase the world of investors. It has a better promise of profit at a lower investment than most startups.
In terms of who would put up the money, we can generally divide investors into two categories: macroinvestors and microinvestors.
Macroinvestors are the peoplecompanies that put up millions of dollars for a venture. They're often called "angel investors'' because they put money into projects that most people wouldn't view as promising. Angel investors would form the bulk of investment.
I would love to see the project include Star Trek fans (like me) as microinvestors. However, that might be difficult or impossible. Securities and Exchange Commission regulations make it difficult for small investors to get in on startups. (Personal note: this is a situation that I think should change. Little guys like me should be able to get in on the action.) You can't just crowdfund a project by selling equity. That being said, fans could be a promising source of money. Trekkies probably skew towards higher incomes, and they're passionate about the franchise they love. I'm sure quite a few fans (like me) would make small investments just for the sheer excitement of getting involved in Star Trek. If for no other reason, I would like to see Cerritos Enterprises include microinvestors so the fan base could have more say in the future of our franchise. A company like MicroVentures (https://microventures.com/) might be able to help implement microinvestment.
Cerritos Enterprises would benefit from having a Star Trek star on the board of directors. Jonathan Frakes would be a good choice. Not only is he beloved by the Star Trek community, he's an experienced director and producer. He knows the business. He could attract Trekkie investors, then he could talk business with them. George Takei is also an experienced entertainment producer. There are probably other business savvy stars who could get involved.
Conclusion
Entertainment industry professionals will undoubtedly find flaws in this plan. That's a good thing: it helps make the plan better. However, Hollywood is like any other industry: money talks. A pile of cash on the table will get their attention.
This is an ambitious plan, but Trekkies are an innovative group. Making things happen is what we do.
Let's make this happen.

2024.05.21 23:45 Repov2 Should I give up photography and find another hobby?

The title might sound like a complete quitter's thought, but hear me out.
I've had some sort of interest in photography since my teen years, but never got really into it until two years ago, when I had a Digital Photography class in my university. I got my first DSLR camera a year prior to that (Nikon D5100 with 18-55 and 55-200 kit lenses), and that class taught me some solid basics on how to use the camera. I still wouldn't call myself advanced, or anything but beginner, but I like my photography hobby. It's creative, it's fun, it gets me outside, and perhaps most importantly, it gets me out of my comfort zone.
I like how photography requires constant learning, I like how you can always create something new (at least new to yourself), and I like how it helps me connect with people. It's a pretty fulfilling hobby.
However, there's a problem I have. I have a medical condition called Essential Tremor. My case seems to be pretty mild, I can even do stuff like repairing phones (to varying degrees of success, admittedly), it doesn't affect eating much, and generally, the main problem I have with it is that it affects my self-confidence and self-esteem. But lately, it seems to be getting ever so slightly worse and worse, and I find that worrying. Maybe it will get better, maybe it will impact my day-to-day functions, making photography impossible for me.
I'm not looking for sympathies, I'm just saying how things are, unfortunately. Last weekend I went out shooting with a friend, and I had to crank the ISO on that poor thing up to 800 and even higher at f/5.6-f/8 to be able to shoot, and I'm not experienced enough to know if the shutter speeds of around 1/100 are problematic even to 'normal' people or just to my tremorous hands. Maybe the light was too low, maybe I didn't get the settings right, but overall, I felt a little bit disappointed in my photographic abilities that time.
To make things worse, I'm doing my bachelor's paper, and it's about comparing digital photography to analog photography. It was supposed to be fun and a good way to finish my studies, but as this academic year I have nothing but the thesis to do, I got a job. Apparently, it's much less fun when your whole life is basically revolving around balancing a 9-5 job, a bachelor's thesis, and mental sanity, so the appeal of photography as a hobby is sort of vanishing for me. Hopefully I manage to pull the paper off by July, and it doesn't become a chore.
Not to mention that I feel as creative lately, but that's probably a topic for another time. It boils down to perfectionism and my general lack of patience, which I acknowledge as a problem, but often can't fight.
So between a medical condition, having to do it as a bachelor's thesis, and generally having a creative block, does it even make sense to invest myself into photography (I mean both time-wise and financially), or should I focus my energies elsewhere?

2024.05.21 23:27 Psychological-Egg153 Threesome gone wrong leads to cheating

I am the OP and this is going to be a long and unique story.
Last year me 21M and my gf 20F both jokingly brought up the idea of a threesome. We have been together for almost 5 years and our relationship has always had a little of trust and respect. We never call each other names and we literally never fight or argue, it was perfect. Fast forward to the threesome, my gf ends up picking the 3rd girl to join us. The boundaries we set were to communicate if we didn’t feel comfortable with something and making sure that we both felt respected still with another person in the bedroom. We end up “hanging out” with this girl 3-4 times and of those times we had sex multiple times. It was mostly me fucking the girl and I wasn’t giving my gf much. My gf and the girl only really gave each other oral, I will admit that I did not handle this correctly and let a “shiny new toy” steal all my attention. I did not have any feelings at all towards the girl, purely just saw her as something that I don’t normally have and got too excited? I will admit that I was definitely too friendly and almost treating the girl like my own gf. My gf didn’t really express herself until everything had happened and multiple times at that. I put a stop to the threesome thing immediately. Over the course of the last year till now, my gf acted as if she was just hurt and was trying to heal. She said she felt cheated on, felt like the 2nd option, she felt like I threw her to the side for a new girl we just met. When I’d ask her about it I could tell she was hurt but she made it seem like she would be ok and just needed time. I always apologized but I now know that I never made it seem sincere because I truly didn’t feel like I had crossed any lines since we had discussed our ground rules before anything happened. Our life continued pretty normally or so I thought. I did everything I could to make it up to her.
Fast forward to this year, my gf tells me that she wants to take some time apart so that she can work on her mental health and heal because it hurt to look at me sometimes (she is mentally unstable and has had depression in the past/still does). I know I shouldn’t have let the threesome happen knowing that she’s not stable but I can’t turn back time now. I decided to snoop thru her MacBook last month and I find out that shes been texting a bunch of other guys. This is not like her at all which really shocked me.
This is where it gets interesting because it all unfolds in a week. I find out that she cheated on me behind my back. She downloaded dating apps early April 2024 and didn’t tell me she wanted some space until mid April. I didn’t think much of it, just not spending as much time together. In her mind she was trying to break up, it was not clear at all and those words never came up. She cheated on me Sunday, April 21. While I was at home taking her Biology Final Exam for her (I’ll get to more about this in next paragraph) on Tuesday April 23rd, I try to talk to her to see how she’s feeling and also bring her clean laundry as I wash and fold her clothes. It was on this day that she made it a little more clear that she wanted a clean full break and not just “some time”. On Friday April 26, I wrote her a very heartfelt letter about how sorry I was because I didn’t know how much damage I had actually done to her. I went to her place to drop it off and this was the same night I looked thru her MacBook and found her texts. I confronted her after she got off work, we had a very heartfelt conversation with lots of tears. The next morning was when she revealed to me that she cheated. She had cheated seeking revenge and to satisfy her emotions. At first I was upset but was willing to accept it because I had already brought up the idea a few times to even the score so long as she told me everything beforehand. What made me go crazy was the following weeks worth of lies. She told me she didn’t do anything at first when I first found the texts, then once she admitted she did something, she said she used protection, I just found out this week she lied and we had unprotected sex afterwards as well. She told me her friends that are bad influences, drove her there and they all went like it was some kind of road trip. She eventually confessed that her friends did not take part in it after I texted her friends. There were at least 6-7 major lies in the story and for something this serious, I think it’s just plain messed up to be lying. If I gave you a chance after finding out, why not just keep it straight.
Now some very important details. Our relationship is very much one sided and I don’t mind. I pretty much do EVERYTHING for her. I cook, I clean, do her laundry, I manage 4 companies, I take her places, she is absolutely spoiled beyond belief. When we first met at 16-17 years old, her relationship with her parents was not great and I spoke up for her which was scary asf for a 17 year old. I helped her gain so much freedom within her own Hispanic household. I gave her so many opportunities within my companies where she was making $40/hr doing 1/2 the work of a fast food worker. After the threesome incident, she was very upset and depressed and we are both in school so I picked up some of her slack and helped her get A’s in multiple classes. I took her to Japan, she bought so much stuff and we had a great time. I don’t know how else to say it but I literally do everything for her, if you can name it, I’ve done it. From my pov, I’ve given her my life. So many opportunities. I come from a little bit of money, upper middle class Asian family. We have a lot of resources and I always provide her what she needs whether it’s food or financial support. She comes from a lower class Hispanic family. I feel so betrayed that she would do this behind my back after I’ve done so much to change her life. I called her selfish, useless, and ungrateful. The only thing I ever asked from her was loyalty and respect, she can’t give me that anymore.
The situation currently: 3 weeks ago she was begging me to not leave and that she will work on herself to be better for me. She said I can do whatever I want, even sleep with other girls. I told her to kick rocks, I would not give up my body and dignity to my own emotions. I’m not as stupid as her. As of this week May 19, 2024. She is back on medication to control her emotion and she still doesn’t want me to leave, she keeps telling me that she still loves me so much and does not want anyone else. I wanted to wait a bit to see if she was begging out of panic and distress. Now she is much more calm and isn’t breaking down quite as bad, still crying and the feelings seem more real and painful rather than out of terror and panic. Here’s the kicker, over the last year since the threesome, she became very rude and mean towards me. I’ll spare the details but it was like if I bought her flowers, she’d throw them on the floor and stomp them out. I knew it was because of what happened and she was bottling her emotions. But this took a tremendous toll on me especially since I work a lot and my time outside of work is all with her. I sleep only 2-3 hours a night. I cheated on her twice with 2 different girls over the last year out of sheer stress and trying to cope with the treatment I was getting from her. You may ask why didn’t I just leave, why cheat. How would it have looked if the threesome incident happened, she became depressed and I just left? The alternative would be to stay and just suffer thru her verbal and emotional abuse. I felt trapped
If you read this far I appreciate you and hope you can give me some feedback. Let me know if I need to clarify anything or give more detail

2024.05.21 23:22 ianrafalko Stop amplifying these harassment-centric Scientology “protests”.

2nd generation Scientologist here, I left a few years back (was in for 24 years) and have been speaking out and advocating for holding the cult accountable like many in the anti-Scientology community. And although I am glad to see many more people are protesting these days then in recent years, it’s worth considering WHY we are protesting in the first place.
Don’t get me wrong, there are many valid ways to protest Scientology in order to hold them accountable for their abuse of their members, be it financial, mental, emotional or otherwise. However, recently, I and many others in this community have noticed a trend of people going out of their way to scream at, harass, and publicly humiliate individual members who have nothing to do with management or who have no power or wherewithal to move the needle in holding the cult accountable. Many of these are also done through monetized livestreams, where they are literally profiting off of the humiliation and harassment of strangers. scientologists are already humiliated by management from how they’ve been going to extreme lengths to cover up abuses, create slander websites about ex-members who speak out and represent themselves as a malicious, secretive and as an otherwise horrendously deceptive and dangerous organization.
StreetsLA being one of the first to instigate the trend and another major figure in the community seeing the views he got and promoting it as some kind of advantageous business opportunity where you can make a YouTube channel screaming at and harassing People (who are literally forbidden to stick up for themselves) for money. Many of these personalities following suit are wildly narcissistic, clout chasing freaks who say the most vile and inhumane shit I’ve ever heard, but it’s these types of people who are attracted to these types of protests.
This is a serious fight with serious implications for those who’ve been affected by the cult, and although I understand the dramatic appeal, it’s being turned into a sideshow for entertainment, with no regard to the ramifications of said behavior. In Scientology, you’re indoctrinated to believe (like in many cults) that it is “us versus them“ that all who have not learned the “true workable technology“ of Scientology are insane and under the thumb of some ancient cabal of evil psychiatrists, blah blah. The point is, these types of protests literally prove (from the Scientologist perspective) that L. Ron Hubbard was right and they are wise to stay within the cult because it is safer than leaving, it emboldens them to trust this technology deeper because every time they walk outside, someone is screaming “GET BACK IN YOUR CULT!” at the top of their lungs for days/weeks on end.
Yes, many Scientologists are so lost in the sauce they go out of their way to attempt to intimidate protesters(most of which are management reps of individual orgs who are trained to do so), while management drafts up the legal documents to attack them. Nothing in Scientology happens without an order to do so by a higher up or by an LRH policy.
But most (imo) are harmless normal folk who have been manipulated extensively and probably have doubts about Scientology effectiveness because of how in debt they are or how little “progress“ they have made, there are children in many of those buildings and it’s hard to say what impression they’re getting from the protesters I’m referring to, I can tell you when I was a kid, seeing seeing people in masks screaming at me and my family as I walked in was very confusing and frightening to say the least.
The nuance here is, although Scientology is a corrupt, evil and destructive cult, we must appeal to those who have the power to remove Scientology’s tax exempt status, we must appeal to the humanity in its members to use common sense, to have some self-respect and understand that they are being used and spreading Scientology is doing the opposite of helping mankind.
Realistically, Scientology as a concept will never go away, and there will always be a small amount of people who stick up for it, but we can make actual effective change that removes Scientology’s ability to silence victims, abuse children, elder abuse, coverup sexual abuse, traffic whole families for labor, etc.
I understand that this kind of content can be entertaining for many of you, but what they are doing is setting us back and I’m not going to pretend that one of the biggest podcasts in the world (that I’ve been a fan of since it began) amplifying and bolstering such behavior hasn’t been disappointing to say the least.
I implore you to seek to understand the nuance in this area and stop promoting abusive behavior, you cannot abuse people out of an abusive situation and the only way scientologists at large will leave as if they understand that the indoctrination they’ve been fed is malicious and wrong.
The H3 channels and pod have always been an outlet for me to relieve stress and laugh when everything else in my life feels like shit, even when I was in the cult. So I won’t stop watching, but I’ve said my peace and I appreciate the tolerance and inclusivity this community promotes. So with that. Peace.

2024.05.21 23:09 jfirstcode Toyota Financial reported payment(s) as late to credit file when they were not

Hi all,
I've been having an issue with Toyota Financial Services since January of this year.
From January through March, I would make my payments per usual and I noticed the money was not being taken from my bank account and the payments would fail a few days later. I was able to get them paid successfully and then April rolls around. Same issue happens again.
I then call them and the representative on the phone tells me on their end they have the money for April and there is no issue. I go about my days as I am under the assumption it is paid.
Fast forward to April and I get an email from Experian saying there has been a change to my credit file. I see Toyota Motor Credit flagged me for being 30 days past due. I call Toyota the next day and explain the situation (again) and the woman on the phone tells me it was a mistake in their system and it will be removed within 30 days, along with them mailing me a letter reflecting what she had just told me. At this time I then created a dispute with Experian.
Yesterday I get a letter in the mail from them saying what I believed was incorrect is correct in their system and they are reporting to agencies correctly.
The entire ordeal dropped my credit down ~40 points and it seems I have little to no recourse with Toyota in fixing this. I have documentation backing up that during this time payments were attempted to be made (and were successful before their due dates) and that April's payment was not only paid, but posted before its due date.
After calling today, the woman on the phone essentially told me I am SOL and all I can do is just dispute it with credit bureaus and Toyota (again). I was lied to by them twice and it really seems like I am out of luck here.
Any ideas on how to move forward? I called a little later today and was told I can send a letter to their dispute department outlining the issue and they will proceed with it if they believe I am correct. Has anyone had a similar situation and had any luck getting this removed?

2024.05.21 23:01 mtngoat7 Ok got denied!

I just received my decision letter after an ACE review (post in person C&P) for a migraine claim filed as PACT ACT presumptive which I now realize was wrong…decision pasted below. My migraines started when I was deployed to a TERA and I’m on the burn pit registry but I never was seen for them in service.
Since I am already service connected for tinnitus, so wondering if I should refile for migraine as secondary to tinnitus or appeal this one? —————/
Service connection for migraines.
To support a claim for service connection on a direct basis, the evidence must show three things.
First, it must show that you had an injury in military service, or a disease that began in or was made worse during military service, or there was an event in service that caused an injury or disease. Second, it must show that you have a current physical or mental disability, demonstrated by medical evidence. Finally, it must show that there is a relationship between your current disability and an injury, disease or event in military service. Medical records or medical opinions are required to establish this relationship. (38 CFR 3.303, 38 CFR 3.304, 38 CFR 3.400)
The evidence does not show that your disease developed to a compensable degree within the specified time period after release from service to qualify for the presumption of service connection. (38 CFR 3.307, 38 CFR 3.309)
The claimed condition is less likely than not (likelihood is less than approximately balanced or
nearly equal) incurred in or caused by the claimed in-service injury, event, or illness. Rationale is
reviewing the veteran service records, any additional information provided. The veteran service
records indicate the veteran was diagnosed with migraine headache conditions around 2004. The
veteran was discharged from active duty XXXXXX 1993. There has been no chronicity established
while in service for any headache condition.
Service connection may be granted for a condition diagnosed after military discharge provided
evidence establishes that the condition was caused by service. Service connection may be
granted on this basis for a disability related to toxic exposure risk activity (TERA) during
military service if evidence demonstrates that the Veteran was actually exposed in service and
that a disease associated with such exposure resulted. (38 CFR 3.303, 38 CFR 3.304)
We considered whether your condition resulted from a toxic exposure risk activity (TERA) in
service. (38 U.S.C. 1168, 38 U.S.C. 1710(e)(4)) The evidence of record shows participation in a
TERA
We requested an examination with medical opinion based on toxic exposure risk activity
(TERA). Your VA examiner notes that medical records from the veteran's primary care notes on
10/2004 endorse the veteran's diagnosis of migraine headaches. According to Mayo Clinic
(2023), the exact cause of migraines are unknown and there are a wide variety of contributing
factors that increase the risk of migraines including various environmental and genetic factors.
These include inadequate sleep, dietary factors, caffeine, alcohol consumption, changes in
barometric pressure, hormonal factors, and stress. Medical literature does not support a direct
causal relationship between migraine headaches and toxic exposure risk activities, including
exposure to burn pits, airborne hazards, or environmental toxins. Considering the evidence,
the veteran's diagnosis of migraines is less likely than not caused by indicated toxic exposure risk
activities in service.
Although the evidence of record shows participation in a TERA, the medical opinion provided
by the examiner does not show an association between your claimed disability and in-service
TERA. (38 U.S.C. 1168, 38 CFR 3.303)
There is no basis in the available evidence of record to establish service connection for
migraines. This condition did not happen in military service, nor was it aggravated or caused by
service. (38 CFR 3.303, 38 CFR 3.304, 38 CFR 3.306)
Favorable Findings identified in this decision:
You have been diagnosed with a disability. VA exam dated xx/xx/2024 shows a diagnosis of
migraine headaches.
Participation in a toxic exposure risk activity is conceded based completion of VA TERA Memo
dated 2/29/2024.
The claimed disability is a chronic disease which may be presumptively linked to your military
service if manifested to a compensable degree within one year of discharge as listed in 38 CFR
3.309 (a).
You have sufficient service to meet the minimum requirements for presumptive service
connection. Your DD 214 shows military service from xxxxxx to xxxxxx.
Your claimed issue became manifest to a degree of 10 percent or more following service.

  3. Transparency: Ensure that the broker provides clear and detailed contact information, including a physical address and multiple customer service options. Transparency is key to establishing trust.
  4. Test with a Demo Account: If available, use a demo account to test the platform’s features and functionality without risking real money. This can help you evaluate the user experience and reliability of the trading platform.
Conclusion: Exercise Caution
International Reserve offers an intriguing combination of human and AI-driven trading strategies, comprehensive market access, and strong customer support. While these features are attractive, it’s crucial to conduct thorough research and verify the platform’s legitimacy. By following the steps outlined above, you can make a more informed decision and protect your investments. Remember, a cautious and well-informed approach is essential in the world of online trading.

Introduction to Cost-Effective Junk Removal

When it comes to managing junk removal in a cost-effective manner, individuals are often seeking affordable solutions to alleviate the financial burden associated with waste disposal. It is crucial to explore options that not only fit within one's budget but also contribute to maintaining clean and sustainable living spaces. The rise of DIY and budget-friendly junk removal methods reflects a growing trend towards practical and economical waste management strategies.
For example, imagine a scenario where a homeowner in California needs to dispose of old furniture without spending excessively. By delving into various cost-effective junk removal options, such as recycling, donation, or leveraging local pickup services, individuals can efficiently declutter their space while minimizing expenses. This sets the stage for understanding how cost-effective approaches to junk removal can benefit both individuals and the environment.
Cost-effective junk removal options are not only about saving money but also about making a positive impact on the environment. By choosing sustainable methods of waste disposal, individuals can contribute to reducing landfill waste and promoting a cleaner ecosystem. The shift towards affordable and eco-friendly junk removal practices signifies a broader movement towards responsible waste management in today's society. By incorporating sustainability into cost-effective solutions, individuals can achieve a harmonious balance between financial savings and environmental consciousness.

Understanding the Costs of Junk Removal Services

Local junk removal companies play a significant role in offering upfront pricing and estimates to customers, providing insights into the potential costs involved in waste removal. Additionally, some providers may incentivize cost savings by offering discounts for regular or bulk pickups, making their services more appealing to budget-conscious individuals. The variability in pricing structures for junk removal services emphasizes the importance of comparing quotes and services to identify the most cost-effective option that aligns with one's specific needs.
To illustrate, consider a situation where a homeowner needs to clear out a garage filled with bulky items. By obtaining estimates from different junk removal services and understanding the factors that influence pricing, such as the type and volume of items to be removed, individuals can make informed decisions that prioritize both affordability and quality of service. This proactive approach empowers customers to navigate the junk removal process with financial prudence in mind.
DIY junk removal not only offers cost-effective solutions but also empowers individuals to take control of their waste management efforts. By utilizing reusable packaging materials and implementing proper planning strategies, individuals can streamline the junk removal process, saving both time and money. Online tutorials and guides serve as valuable resources, providing step-by-step instructions for safe and efficient DIY junk removal methods that can be easily implemented by homeowners looking to reduce expenses.

DIY Junk Removal: A Cost-Effective Approach

Engaging in do-it-yourself junk removal presents numerous benefits beyond just cost savings. In addition to reducing expenses, DIY methods allow individuals to customize their waste disposal process according to their preferences and schedules. By incorporating innovative techniques and creative solutions, homeowners can transform junk removal into a rewarding and fulfilling experience that aligns with their unique needs and priorities.
For instance, imagine a homeowner who decides to repurpose old furniture instead of discarding it during a DIY junk removal project. By refurbishing and upcycling items, they not only save on disposal costs but also contribute to reducing waste and promoting sustainability. This hands-on approach to junk removal not only fosters a sense of accomplishment but also instills a deeper appreciation for the value of reusing and repurposing items in a resource-conscious manner.

Leveraging Local Bulk Pickup Services

Local municipalities often provide bulk pickup services as a cost-effective solution for residents looking to dispose of large items. These services, which are typically offered at little to no additional cost, enable individuals to declutter their spaces without incurring significant expenses. By taking advantage of these community-based initiatives, homeowners can access a convenient and budget-friendly option for junk removal.
Collaborating with neighbors or community groups for joint bulk pickups can further enhance the cost-effectiveness of this approach. By coordinating efforts and sharing resources, individuals can collectively reduce the overall expenses associated with waste disposal while fostering a sense of community engagement and collaboration. This cooperative approach not only benefits participants financially but also promotes a spirit of camaraderie and mutual support in managing junk removal tasks.

Recycling and Donation: Save Money and the Environment

The practice of donating and recycling items offers a dual benefit of cost savings and environmental conservation. By donating gently used items to charitable organizations or recycling centers, individuals can contribute to charitable causes and reduce the amount of waste destined for landfills. The cost-effectiveness of this approach lies in the potential for tax deductions, free pickup services, and the satisfaction of knowing that items are being repurposed or recycled for a greater purpose.
Moreover, recycling centers play a crucial role in incentivizing recycling efforts by offering financial incentives for certain types of recyclable materials. Individuals can capitalize on these incentives by segregating and disposing of recyclable items responsibly, thereby reducing their overall junk removal expenses. The financial rewards associated with recycling not only offset disposal costs but also encourage individuals to adopt sustainable practices that benefit both their wallets and the environment.

Comparison of Professional Junk Removal Services

Professional junk removal services offer a range of benefits that extend beyond mere waste disposal. By opting for professional services, individuals can access comprehensive solutions that include junk removal, cleaning, and post-removal tidying up. These bundled services not only save time and effort for customers but also ensure a thorough and efficient junk removal process that meets high standards of cleanliness and organization.
For example, consider a scenario where a homeowner hires a professional junk removal service that partners with recycling facilities. By leveraging these partnerships, the service provider can minimize disposal costs by diverting a significant portion of collected items for recycling. This eco-friendly approach not only reduces environmental impact but also contributes to sustainable waste management practices that benefit both customers and the community at large. By choosing professional services with a focus on recycling and sustainability, individuals can align their junk removal efforts with broader environmental goals.

Special Offers and Deals on Junk Removal

Referral discounts, seasonal promotions, and loyalty programs are common incentives offered by these companies to attract and retain customers. By taking advantage of these cost-saving opportunities, individuals can optimize their junk removal experience and enjoy additional benefits beyond the basic service offerings.
To illustrate, imagine a scenario where a homeowner receives a referral discount for recommending a junk removal service to a friend. By leveraging this discount, both the existing customer and the referred individual benefit from reduced rates, creating a win-win situation for all parties involved. Seasonal promotions, such as spring cleaning specials, offer another avenue for customers to save on junk removal costs while decluttering their spaces efficiently. By staying informed about these special offers and deals, individuals can make informed decisions that maximize savings and value for their junk removal needs.

2024.05.21 21:53 worzatil [PubQ] Is the lack of “strong voice” a dealbreaker for most literary agents?

I recently received some feedback from an agent, who said my first few pages lacked a strong voice. I’m aware that Query Letters need to have a strong voice to snag the agent’s attention, but until now, I didn’t think my MC’s personality had to ‘bleed’ into the manuscript as well. It doesn’t help that I’m a very subdued and serious person in real life (this isn’t a brag, it’s honestly very problematic), and I suppose that has reflected in my writing so far. I think I’m starting to realize a MC with my kind of “voice” won’t appeal to literary agents and readers at all, however interesting my plots are. Am I correct in arriving at this position?
I suppose my other question is this: if I’m writing a YA novel (I am), am I supposed to infuse the narrative to make a teenager bleed through the pages? Is this different from, say, writing the story while mimicking a teenager’s writing style? Hope this question isn’t stupid but I’m genuinely stumped regarding this issue and have never read books consciously thinking about their “voice.” For me, the plot has always been the only thing that mattered in a story (at least consciously).
Also, any resources on how to naturally develop a “voice” would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

2024.05.21 21:38 brigov22 Unmarried partner visa - Qualify?

Hey all! So glad I found this group.
I’m from the US and I’ve been in the UK on a student visa for almost 2 years now (2 year masters programme). The time has come where I’m handing in my dissertation in 2 weeks and will complete my course in mid july. I am permitted to be here until mid December as that’s when graduation is, however I would like to switch my visa now.
I was planning on going for a skilled worker visa as my career offers this as a route, however I feel more secure with the partner route. Now I am aware the rules and wording have changed so I wanted to share my situation to see if this visa is something I can apply for now.
My partner and I have lived together for 1 year and 8 months, it will be 2 years in September. We have been together for a little over 3 and a half years. We meet the financial requirements with combined income. I’m just worried that if I apply now it’ll be risky due to it not being exactly 2 years that we’ve lived together, however I have two years of leases as we are almost completed with the second year and then are hoping to rent a house in August.
Also what is an approved letter to provide for proof of address?
Any guidance will help, thank you!

2024.05.21 21:34 maxikaz19 Is Gemini better than crypto com?

Gemini and Crypto.com are both prominent cryptocurrency exchanges, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, making it difficult to definitively declare one as better than the other. The choice between the two largely depends on individual preferences and needs.
Gemini is renowned for its regulatory compliance and strong security measures. Founded by the Winklevoss twins, it operates under strict U.S. regulations, which may appeal to users seeking a high level of trust and security. Gemini offers a straightforward and user-friendly interface, making it a suitable choice for beginners. Additionally, Gemini has an insurance policy covering digital assets held in their online hot wallet, adding an extra layer of protection for users.
On the other hand, Crypto.com offers a broader range of features and services that might attract more seasoned cryptocurrency enthusiasts. It provides a comprehensive suite of financial products, including a Visa card that allows users to spend their crypto directly. Crypto.com also offers competitive staking rewards, various token listings, and DeFi features, making it a versatile platform for those looking to diversify their crypto activities.
Moreover, Crypto.com has a more extensive selection of supported cryptocurrencies compared to Gemini. This can be a significant advantage for users looking to trade less common altcoins. The platform's mobile app is highly rated for its functionality and ease of use, catering to users who prefer managing their investments on the go.
In summary, Gemini is a solid choice for those prioritizing security, regulatory compliance, and simplicity, while Crypto.com is ideal for users seeking a wide range of features, financial products, and extensive cryptocurrency options. The best platform ultimately depends on your specific needs and goals within the cryptocurrency space.

What I thought was interesting was this sentence. "These forward-looking statements, which include statements regarding the expected timing and implementation of the reverse split and the commencement of trading of the Company’s post-split common stock..."
The Company appears to be seeking a reverse stock split. Having done more research on what this means, there are several companies that have done this successfully, including Motorola, AIG, and Citigroup.
Shareholders would have fewer shares, but each would have an increased price. The value wouldn't have changed. Instead of 200 shares at $1, for example, it may be reverse split to 40 shares worth $5. Companies may do this if they are in financial difficulty. Which FFIE will agree they are. But this could also benefit the company in several ways, according to research (article linked below).
  1. This could try and ensure the company stays above the $1 per share trading limit.
  2. This may increase the visibility of the stock and encourage new investors.

Furthermore the Biden administration has stated its ambition to impose a 100% import tax on Chinese EVs to protect the US industry. This could also benefit FFIE although as the quote below from the linked BBC article states, "Oxford Economics described the latest plans as "more symbolic bark than bite"."

However with FFIE having previously forged links with Geely and in Jan 2024 meeting a Chinese delegation (https://finance.yahoo.com/news/faraday-future-hosts-chinese-automotive-045400035.html) as stated in the article, ""Chinese supply chain enterprises are integral components of the global automotive industry, especially in the AI EV sector. With respect to establishing FF’s supply chain in China, these supply chain enterprises are poised to play a key role in building FF's dual-home strategy in China and the U.S., as well as potential expansion in the Middle East. FF, which is rooted in the United States, will also provide unique value to China and the global automotive industry chain," expressed YT Jia"

2024.05.21 21:24 DidDrog11 Documents showing intent to settle in Sweden for interview

Hi,
I have an upcoming interview in July at the Swedish embassy in Washington D.C. for my application for a residence permit (to move to someone in Sweden). My partner and I have been married for 2.5 years and sambo for 10 years before that (in the UK). We have been living in the US together for the last 20 months as she received an EU grant to be here for 2 years and then in Finland from October. Because of this I think I'm fine for the cohabitation/marriage certificate documents they are requesting. I am not too sure about the intent to settle in Sweden requirements for the interview and was wondering if anyone has any experience of this.
My partner and I are both post-doctoral academic researchers. I am currently employed at a university in the US with the intention to continue in this employment remotely (the US university will either employ me through Sweden or I will become a self-employed contractor), until I find a position in Sweden (I've applied for a grant with some Swedish colleagues, but won't hear back for a while and was advised by a migration lawyer not to include this in the application). My partner is in the process of getting approval from the Finnish institution to work remotely in Sweden, if this is not possible for some reason she will look to move the grant to a Swedish institution. She is also beginning discussions with a Swedish institution to apply for the next career stage research grant based at their institution.
So what sort of level of commitment are they looking for? They've requested acceptance for studies, employment contract, plans for accommodation or other obligations in Sweden. I have no need for further study in Sweden, employment contract also doesn't seem possible. I could maybe get a letter from my Swedish collaborators stating that they will look to apply for grants with me when I arrive in Sweden. I can maybe share some of my partners email conversations with the Swedish institution to demonstrate that she is beginning to establish a more permanent presence in Sweden. It also seems a bit difficult to arrange an apartment in Sweden while we are living in the US, I was advised that a contract of < 1 year would not be that helpful but not knowing when the approvals would come through I think it's difficult to commit to paying rent in both the US and Sweden.
Finally we've not been asked about our financial situation at all in the process so far. When we left the UK we moved our assets to Sweden and so can demonstrate that we can support ourselves financially for the 2 year period they require. Would this be sufficient to demonstrate intent (i.e., we've put all our money in Sweden)?

2024.05.21 21:23 EnvironmentalBar5201 How lucrative is MS in US in 2024? Is it still possible to have a good ROI if I earn 20LPA in India?

my_qualifications: BTech from a local private but reputed college, 20LPA TC
I am constantly reading about people not finding jobs after their MS. I have admits this year but am seriously contemplating whether financially and overall life-wise its still a good idea. The seniors keep saying that many companies are offshoring and the batch from this year has found some way/any way to stay in US by getting fake letter etc. So the slump from this year may not really 'reduce competition' per se.
So if I go now, I'll graduate in 2025-2026, assuming market condition get better, these unemployed batches would fill in the gap, so I am not sure if I will be able to compete.
A really smart friend from IIT-KGP just found a job after getting laid of in 2023 and he keeps telling me that he is under constant stress of layoffs and visa as a result he is not getting married and he's almost 33 now.
I know a few another friend from NIT who returned to India since his visa was not renewed or something like that,
and I know one guy who left after 3 years on OPT and was telling that he didn't even pay of his loan since the car he purchased and the job he had, he didn't really save much after everything
So compared to the last guy I'll definitely earn and save more in India since I don't have any debt, and even compared to the guy who went to BITS, I'll probably have a similar if not higher net worth while staying in India
Is it still a good ROI to study in US? Because unless the salary differential is good, I am not sure if the 'juice is worth the squeeze'
