What items do you plan to salvage or scavenge?

2024.05.21 13:25 Austechprep What items do you plan to salvage or scavenge?

I think this could be an interesting topic to consider what you expect to be left behind or untouched that is too expensive/impractical to buy now but could be very valuable to a long term SHTF.
It all depends on your SHTF scenario of coarse, mine tends to be extreme weather events leading to prolonged grid down, but for this topic it would need to be 1+ year grid down before I'd think it's ethical/acceptable to go scavenging (otherwise it's just looting) and I don't have plans for 1+ years, this topic is mostly just a bit of fun.
For me (given I'm a tech prepper):
A side question, how long until it's acceptable to scavenge, I figure 1 year with no signs of people returning is reasonable.

Genosha was 3 years before Krakoa and my brain just melted
This means Emma Frost has only been an X-Man for what? 1 year?
The timescale is insane.

2024.05.21 13:23 LetterGrouchy6053 On the inevitability of justice -- Part II

It's become a long-recognized fact in boxing, 'You can run, but you can't hide'.
Giuliani found this out the hard way when he was served papers for his treasonous behavior when he tried to have Trump installed as President despite losing the election.
Now the rest of the chickens are coming home to roost.
One by one the despots of Arizona and their co-conspirators are being dragged into court to account for their crimes --trying to overthrow the government of the United States -- and so the judicial process continues.
These seditionists ran and hid behind lawyers, hid behind MAGA in the House of Representatives, hid behind the very tyrant, Trump, but to no avail.
There is no hiding from justice,

PHOENIX (AP) — Former Arizona Republican Party chair Kelli Ward and at least 11 other people are set to be arraigned in a Phoenix courtroom on conspiracy, forgery and fraud charges stemming from their roles in an effort to overturn Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss in Arizona to Joe Biden.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani also is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, though it’s unclear whether he’ll seek a postponement. Arizona authorities tried unsuccessfully over several weeks to serve Giuliani notice of the indictment against him. Giuliani was finally served Friday night as he was walking to a car after his 80th birthday celebration.
Arizona authorities unveiled the felony charges last month against Republicans who submitted a document to Congress falsely declaring Trump, a Republican, had won Arizona. The defendants include five lawyers connected to the former president and two former Trump aides. Biden, a Democrat, won Arizona by more than 10,000 votes.
The indictment alleges Ward, a former state senator who led the GOP in Arizona from 2019 until early 2023, organized the fake electors and urged then-Vice President Mike Pence to declare them to be the state's true electors. It says Ward failed to withdraw her vote as a fake elector even though no legal challenges changed the outcome of the presidential race in Arizona.
Last week, attorney John Eastman, who devised a strategy to try to persuade Congress not to certify the election, was the first defendant in the case to be arraigned, pleading not guilty to the charges.
Trump himself was not charged in the Arizona case but was referred to as an unindicted co-conspirator.
Arizona is the fourth state where allies of the former president have been charged with using false or unproven claims about voter fraud related to the election.
The 11 people who claimed to be Arizona’s Republican electors met in Phoenix on Dec. 14, 2020, to sign a certificate saying they were “duly elected and qualified” electors and asserting that Trump carried the state. A one-minute video of the signing ceremony was posted on social media by the Arizona Republican Party at the time. The document was later sent to Congress and the National Archives, where it was ignored.
Of eight lawsuits that unsuccessfully challenged Biden’s victory in the state, one was filed by the 11 fake Arizona electors, who had asked a federal judge to decertify the results and block the state from sending its results to the Electoral College. In dismissing the case, the judge concluded the Republicans had “failed to provide the court with factual support for their extraordinary claims.” Days after that lawsuit was dismissed, the 11 participated in the certificate signing.
Those set to be arraigned Tuesday are Ward; Tyler Bowyer, an executive of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA; state Sen. Anthony Kern; Greg Safsten, a former executive director of the Arizona Republican Party; Robert Montgomery, a former chairman of the Cochise County Republican Committee; Samuel Moorhead, a Republican precinct committee member in Gila County; Nancy Cottle, who in 2020 was the first vice president of the Arizona Federation of Republican Women; Loraine Pellegrino, past president of the Ahwatukee Republican Women; Michael Ward, an osteopathic physician who is married to Ward; attorneys Jenna Ellis and Christina Bobb; and Michael Roman, who was Trump’s 2020 director of Election Day operations.
Arraignments are scheduled for June 6 for state Sen. Jake Hoffman; on June 7 for former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows; and on June 18 for Trump attorney Boris Epshteyn and for James Lamon, another Republican who claimed Trump carried the state.

2024.05.21 13:16 SashaPurrs05682 Red flag guy? Or ND guy? Or both??

Okay, this isn’t as clear cut as the title makes it sound. So my friend has a guy friend who I’ve met twice. We chatted at length and got along well.
He didn’t introduce himself as being autistic but he did say several times that he sucks at small talk, that he never knows if he’s talking too much or not enough, and that he has had so many misunderstandings that he’s kinda giving up on meeting new people.
I’m just now learning about the new definitions of autism and the more subtle and internal traits bc my 17-year-old thinks she and I both fit the bill. We both got diagnosed with ADHD recently too.
Anyhow. The first time I met this guy I thought he was just an eccentric musician dude who doesn’t socialize much.
2nd time after he described multiple misunderstandings with various people, and how he jumped right in to the deep personal stuff, I was like, hmm, I wonder if he’s autistic.
He also at times gave very short answers but then seemed like he wanted to say more, but wasn’t sure if he was supposed to or not. But as he got more comfortable talking to me, he opened up and started giving me longer answers to questions as we were just casually conversing about random things.
He was definitely quirky, but also intelligent and interesting to talk to.
So by the end of the night of our second unplanned meetup when he asked for my phone number so that we could maybe see another concert together, I gave it to him.
Then the next evening I texted our mutual friend to ask if he was secretly married bc I seem to attract fake single guys.
She replied the next day saying she hated to say anything negative about him, but she said she personally gets a creepy vibe from him and only feels safe hanging out with him bc her husband is always around.
I was like, REALLY? Wow, I’m so clueless- did not pick up on that.
She also said he “said some things while drunk once,” over ten years ago. She didn’t go into details. But she said to be safe she wouldn’t want a female friend alone with him.
She also said he’s such a nice guy that she feels bad sharing her perspective about him.
Obviously I’m going to be erring on the side of caution here.
I haven’t been in touch with him beyond a one sentence text saying replying to him saying it was nice meeting him. He sent a short reply but I didn’t reply bc I’m crazy busy now and don’t have time to be texting him for no real reason.
I’m not going to start anything up with him. Or make any plans to see him unless it’s a group activity.
BUT
Just so I can mentally process all this craziness, I’d love some feedback here.
I’m just wondering, could the creepiness issue just be his possible autism / ND traits?
Can a guy set off creepy alarms for one woman but not actually be a rapey creep??
Not saying THIS guy is nice and misunderstood and un-creepy, but have you ever met a ND guy who you thought was nice, but your neurotypical friend thought was creepy? Is that a common dynamic? Thanks.

2024.05.21 13:09 JFD-S How can I be attractive to women without sacrificing my femininity? 23 M.

Hi there. I'm quite an effeminate guy, and I'm very sure it's a big part of holding me back from dating. I've had hookups with men and women before, but it's absolutely clear that men are much more into me. It's enough to the point I've been told I vibe more like a lesbian than a straight man, which leads me to my following question; how can I be more attractive to queer and open minded women? I really don't want to masculinize myself even if that's a surefire answer, as it's a fake performance that simply feels wrong. I want a lifelong partner who I can be cute and genuine with, twirl and float around the house while we talk, instead of some macho hetero-normative dating script. If there's any suggestions I'd highly appreciate it x

Hi, i have the pc on my left side, and obviously the glass panel is watching the wall🥲 So, i’m making a new pc, and i absoluty want a frameless continuous glass case (idk how its called) The problem it’s always the same, the glass panel will end facing the wall. I’m searching some inverted case but they’re normal full tower cases with no frontal glass (like the Sharkoon Rev200 or the Segotep T1) I don't know if such houses exist, but in any case thanks for the help

234 year old house potential buy
My wife and I are looking to potentially buy an old house from 1794, some of the house is updated but I was curious what people do with this type of wood panel walls? I can't imagine it's well insulated behind the walls. I am just curious what anyone else has done with them. In some rooms the wood wall looks nice, but other rooms it looks like a lot. I don't want to necessarily tear them out because of the character.

These seditionists ran and hid behind lawyers, hid behind MAGa in the House of Representatives, hid behind the very tyrant, Trump, but to know avail.

U.S. Seeks to Join Forces With Europe to Combat Excess Chinese Goods- Socialist in action
“China’s excessive production of green energy technology has become a pressing trans-Atlantic concern in recent months. Officials in President Biden’s administration have grown increasingly worried that his efforts to finance domestic manufacturing of clean energy and other next-generation technologies will be undercut by China, which is churning out steel, electric cars and solar panels at a rapid clip.”
Chinese manufacturers, with government subsidies, can produce whatever they want, but without demand there is no sale. Unfortunately for America, the US Gov decided to also meddle in the economy and promote a green economy. Unwilling to accept the competitive advantage that China has regarding rare earth metals. Partly because of geography and partly because the Obama Administration forced rare earth mining out of the US.
Regardless, the US Government is responsible for the fake green demand in the US and therefor is responsible for China’s excessive production.

🔗Indigo Dog House with Microban - Enhanced Pet Comfort by Coleman

The Petmate Indigo Dog House has been my faithful companion, keeping my furry friend comfortable and cozy in all weather conditions. The offset extended doorway ensures that wind and rain are kept at bay, allowing my pet to enjoy the comfort of their personal space without getting damp or chilled.
The structural foam provides excellent insulation, keeping my pet cool during summer days and warm during the colder months. The roof vent helps maintain proper airflow, allowing for a pleasant environment inside the dog house. The use of Microban is an added bonus, as it actively works against the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew, ensuring a fresh and clean living area for my pet.
Installation was a breeze, with no tools required, and the dog house is specifically designed for medium-sized pets. Although the dimensions are perfect for my pet, I found it interesting that larger dogs can be accommodated in the larger versions of the dog house. My pet loved his new home and took to it immediately, feeling secure and protected from the elements.
However, there have been some minor issues with rain leakage. Although the design of the dog house is meant to keep rain out, I have found that on occasion, water still finds its way inside the dog house. This can lead to damp and unpleasant conditions for my pet and requires extra attention to keep the dog house area dry.
Overall, the Petmate Indigo Dog House is a reliable and comfortable choice for your medium-sized pet. With its insulated design and sturdy construction, your furry friend will be well-protected in all weather conditions. Although it has faced some minor issues, these do not detract from the overall quality and functionality of the dog house.

🔗Quick Setup Coleman Juniper Lake 4-Person Instant Dome Tent with Annex

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Coleman Juniper Lake 4-Person Instant Dome Tent, and I must say, it was a mixed experience. On the one hand, setting up this tent was a breeze, thanks to the pre-attached poles that allowed me to pitch it in about a minute. The ventilated annex, complete with a rainfly, was also a great feature for keeping my gear and dog dry and comfortable.
However, there were a few issues I encountered during my time using the tent. Firstly, the poles had a sliding mechanism that broke the very first time I used it. This resulted in a much heavier and bulkier tent, which was quite inconvenient when packing it up. Additionally, the rainfly, while well-ventilated, did restrict some visibility through the windows, making it slightly less than ideal for enjoying the outdoors.
Despite these drawbacks, the Coleman Juniper Lake 4-Person Instant Dome Tent still proved to be a functional and capable option for my camping needs. With a few improvements, such as detachable poles and a more durable rainfly, this tent could be an even better choice for those looking for a hassle-free camping experience.

🔗Coleman Instant 4-Person Cabin Tent: Durable and Easy Setup

Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the Coleman Instant 4-Person Cabin Tent in tan/black. This instant tent features an 8' x 7' floor that's spacious enough for a queen airbed, allowing for plenty of room to move around comfortably. Its taped seams and welded floor seam offer strength and durability, while mesh windows improve air circulation. Furthermore, it meets CPAI-84 flammability requirements for safety and has a fully-taped WeatherTec system that withstands harsh outdoor elements, keeping all your items dry.
When it came to setting up the tent, the color-coded poles and easy-to-follow instructions made the process a breeze. I was impressed by the tent's ability to withstand various weather conditions, thanks to its durable materials and strong frame. The design also includes ample airflow through large windows and a ground vent, reducing condensation and keeping the interior fresh and cool.
However, there were a couple of downsides, as well. Firstly, the d-style door was a bit hard to open and close, and the zipper required some effort to work properly. Additionally, the tent didn't seem as sturdy as expected in high winds, with the fabric flapping around a bit.
Overall, the Coleman Instant 4-Person Cabin Tent was a decent choice for a camping trip. Its ease of setup, spacious interior, and weather resistance made it a comfortable shelter. However, some improvements, such as better zippers and more durable materials, could have made this tent even more impressive.

🔗Coleman WeatherMaster Tent: 10-Person, Patented Hinged Door, Eureka 17' x 9'

https://preview.redd.it/jlubuu9t8r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20b402701a21588f49252e3a3b34308fe9bb7be5
Recently, I had the chance to try out the Coleman WeatherMaster 10-Person Tent on my camping trip. The tent quickly became a game-changer for me and my large family. When it comes to space, this tent is truly remarkable – it comfortably accommodates ten people, giving us all enough room to spread out and enjoy our camping experience.
The WeatherMaster's separate rooms and dividers provided us with much-needed privacy and organization, making our trip even more enjoyable. Setting up the tent was also a breeze, thanks to the color-coded poles and clear instructions. The tent held up well in various weather conditions, keeping us dry and secure throughout.
One of the standout features was the ventilation system. Despite having a large group, the tent remained well-ventilated, preventing condensation and maintaining a comfortable atmosphere. The built-in electrical access port was also a convenient feature that allowed us to stay connected and charge our devices.
However, there were a few drawbacks to the tent. The setup process was a bit slower than I expected, which could be an issue for those looking for a quick set up. Additionally, the rain fly was prone to leaking, which meant I needed to use an extra tarp for added protection. Despite these minor issues, the Coleman WeatherMaster Tent proved to be a valuable addition to our camping trips, delivering on its promises and providing a comfortable and spacious shelter for our family.

🔗Coleman 8-Person Evanston Screened Tent with Screen Room

https://preview.redd.it/qf20nfjt8r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b559388bec08c0ab85b074e97413fe5444122990
I recently tested out the Coleman Evanston 8-Person Tent with Screen Room for a camping trip, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to set up! The snag-free pole sleeves and Insta-Clip attachments made it a breeze to assemble in less than 15 minutes. As someone who loves the great outdoors, there's nothing more bothersome than having bugs invade your tent. However, the fully screened porch and the four large windows provided maximum ventilation while keeping the bugs at bay.
The tent's 72-inch center height offered plenty of room for my sleeping bag, and the 1442 square feet of floor space was perfect for storing all my gear. The weather-resistant features, such as the taped seams and rainfly, ensured that I remained dry during a sudden rain shower.
The screened-in room was an excellent addition, offering extra space for ventilation or storage. However, one downside was the rainfly, which sometimes made it a bit darker inside the tent even on sunny days. Additionally, the tent was on the heavier side, making it a bit more challenging to transport longer distances.
Overall, the Coleman Evanston 8-Person Tent with Screen Room was a great choice for my camping trip. It provided a spacious and comfortable environment, while also offering a bug-free experience. Despite a few minor drawbacks, I believe this tent would be an excellent option for anyone planning a camping adventure.

🔗Powerful, All-In-One Camping Dome Tent with Rainfly and LED Lights

The Coleman OneSource 6-Person Camping Dome Tent is the perfect companion for outdoor adventures with friends and family. Setting up the tent in my backyard under the sun took only 10 minutes, and the fan feature made sure I stayed cool during that hot summer day. The LED lighting system brightened up the tent, making it an enjoyable place to hang out.
The tent's OneSource Li-Ion rechargeable battery powered not only the integrated fan and LED lighting system but also charged my smartphone, making it a versatile and eco-friendly choice. The included rainfly and weather-resistant features added peace of mind in case of sudden showers.
Although the tent could fit more people, it was cozy enough for my family of four. The ample storage pouches provided a convenient place to store our essentials, while the netting around the tent allowed for enhanced ventilation to keep things fresh inside.
Overall, the Coleman OneSource 6-Person Camping Dome Tent offered a comfortable and enjoyable outdoor experience for my family, and the easy setup, battery-powered features, and weather-resistance made it a winner in our book.

🔗Weatherproof 6-Person Dome Tent with Full-Fly Vestibule from Cabela's

https://preview.redd.it/5f9v0qau8r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ebc896a67f8f94b6dfd8666f5e77671f6cbf0282
I recently had the chance to try out the Coleman Skydome Camping Tent at our family camping trip. This tent was quick and easy to set up, taking less than 5 minutes. One feature that stood out to me was the full-fly vestibule, providing extra weather protection and additional storage space. The nearly vertical walls also gave us an extra 20% more headroom compared to a traditional dome tent, making it comfortable for everyone inside.
However, there were a few downsides as well. The front door zipper design seemed problematic at times, causing issues when trying to access the tent. Additionally, there was a small hole that appeared in the floor after our first use, though we're unsure if it was already there or not. The tent was also quite heavy at 20 lbs, making it difficult to transport.
Overall, the Coleman Skydome Camping Tent had its ups and downs. The ease of setup and extra space were definitely pluses, but the zipper design and the tent's weight were drawbacks.

Buyer's Guide

Choosing the right Coleman dog tent involves considering several important factors to ensure your dog is comfortable and safe during outdoor adventures. In this guide, we'll discuss key features, considerations, and general advice to help you make the best decision.

Weather Resistance

Coleman dog tents are famously known for their robust weather resistance. Factors affecting this include UV protection, waterproof materials, and ventilation. UV protection prevents sun damage while waterproof materials ensure your dog will stay dry even in wet conditions. Proper ventilation is essential, as it allows for air circulation to keep your dog cool and comfortable throughout their stay.

Ease of Set-up and Portability

A Coleman dog tent should be user-friendly and simple to set up. Look for models with pre-attached poles and guylines for easy setup and takedown. Additionally, portability is essential for camping trips, so consider the tent's overall weight and compact design for easy transportation.

Additional Features

Some Coleman dog tents offer additional features such as mesh windows for increased airflow, detachable rainfly for flexible weather protection, and sewn-in floors to prevent leakage and provide extra insulation.

Consider Your Dog's Needs

Ultimately, the most important aspect of selecting a Coleman dog tent is understanding your dog's individual needs and preferences. Consider factors like mobility, comfort, and safety, and choose a tent based on what's best for your furry friend.

2024.05.21 12:13 Brighty_0171 Attaching a shower head to the wall of this bathroom

Attaching a shower head to the wall of this bathroom
We are currently in the middle of renovating a house and can’t afford to do the bathroom just yet.
There is a bath, with and handheld shower head, however I am 6ft 4 and can’t sit in the bath any longer. It’s been 8 months and I could really do with finding a solution for getting the shower head on the wall until we properly renovate the whole room.
I could just get a longer hose and stick it up there, however, the wall is only part tiled and I don’t want to damage the plaster.
What would people suggest as a cheap solution for protecting the wall for water.l?
Things I have thought about:
  • adding in white panelling above the existing tiles.
  • buying a wrap around shower curtain
What do people think? Would really love your advice. Thanks!
