Today, let's learn about the panda pattern in German Shepherds! Though panda German Shepherds are often thought to be mixed breeds, the panda pattern is only present in German Shepherds. Let's get into why.
HISTORY: The panda pattern was a mutation that first appeared on October 4th, 2000 when a puppy called ''Lewcinka's Franka Von Phenom'' was born. She was the only puppy out of the whole litter that had these unusual white markings and blue eyes (a picture of her will be posted in the comments). The pairing that produced her was repeated, but all of the puppies in the second litter turned out normal colored. Franka was DNA tested to see if she was mixed breed, but the results confirmed that she was indeed a purebred German Shepherd, though that is still up for debate to this day. Franka was health tested and later bred, with more panda puppies being born, meaning that panda is a dominant trait. Today, we can see pandas of different breeding paths and colors, some better and some worse, but if they truly are panda german shepherds (NOT piebald, those are 2 completely seperate and different genes), then they are all descendants of Franka.
GENETICS: Panda is a new gene and not as researched as many others, but we do know some things about it. The panda marking is a result of a dominant mutation of the KIT gene, or the CD117 gene. The panda markings are NOT caused by the S gene that causes piebald or irish spotting. The way to correctly write a panda dog's genotype is to write N/P (A non-panda dog would be N/N). No homozygous panda (P/P or double panda) puppies have ever been born as they get absorbed in the womb.
So, how does panda look and what does it do? Panda removes pigment and turns some places of the dog white. The pattern is seen mostly on the dog's paws, legs, chest, neck, and muzzle. There have been no cases of pandas who have white past their shoulder blades or on their back. If you see a German Shepherd with white on their whole body (not recessive red), it is piebald, not panda.
The panda pattern can also cause lack of pigment in a dog's eyes, making them blue, like in the case of Franka. A panda dog can have either two normal color eyes, two blue eyes, 1 blue and 1 normal color eye, or sectoral heterochromia (which causes different sectors of an individuals eyes to be different colors) in one or both eyes. Blue eyes are mostly seen in pandas with white around their eyes or white close to their eyes. Their eye color isn't caused by crossbreeding and you can see this by comparing a blue eyed panda to it's non-panda offspring. The puppy won't have blue eyes as it doesn't lack pigment.
No color related deafness has been seen in panda German Shepherds.
As panda causes white on the dog's body, you can sometimes see ticking. It can be extreme and not look white (Like in Australian Cattle Dogs) or it can be almost fully white. Ticking can't be tested for so unless your dog has white on their body, you can't know if they carry for ticking or not. All panda puppies will be born with bright white on their coats, but they might develop ticking when they're older.
Panda is a pattern that can be on any other non true white color or pattern. That means that panda dogs can be black, blue, liver, isabella, sable, saddleback, etc, and even recessive red (although it would be harder to see, especially if the dog doesn't have blue eyes).
HEALTH: There have been no color related health defects observed in panda German Shepherds.
The panda pattern itself doesn't have any health defects, but there is a controversy related to breeding pandas. Breeding a panda to a non-panda results in a 50% chance of panda puppies and 50% chance of non-panda puppies. However, breeding panda to panda results in a 25% chance of non-panda puppies, 50% chance of panda puppies, and 25% chance of double pandas, with the double panda puppies getting absorbed in the womb. This would mean that if puppies were born exactly with those odds, you'd lose 25% of the puppies before they're even born. This also means that in most panda to panda breedings, you're losing some or even all of the puppies, even if the mating was successful. Of course, this is not the same as merle to merle breeding in dogs like Border Collies where double merle puppies are often born and born with defects. And of course, as all pandas originate from a single dog, the two parents for sure are realted, closely or distantly. In any scenario, breeding panda to panda isn't worth it, even if no defected puppies can be born due to the pairing.
IN GERMAN SHEPHERDS: The biggest problem for panda German Shepherds is actually misinformation. 2024.05.21 23:50 MakeshiftApe Why does Chrome keep forgetting clicked links and start turning them blue again randomly? Then they'll be purple again later, then blue again, and so on, with seemingly no rhyme or reason to it.
I opened my browser (Chrome) when I started up my PC, and went onto a subreddit that I've been reading lately.
I had read every post in about the last month or so on said subreddit, other than a couple that were posted today, but I noticed the links were all blue again like if I hadn't clicked them.
I went to Google about the issue and found someone saying they had the same issue and it was due to the browser not yet fully loading its history and to give it a few minutes and the links would appear purple again.
I gave it a few minutes and that didn't happen, but about an hour or two later I went back to the subreddit and sure enough the links were all purple again.
At this point I assumed the person describing a similar issue was right, that Chrome just hadn't yet loaded the relevant information about me having clicked those links before and that it took some time for that to happen.
But I just went back to that subreddit 5 minutes ago and all the links are blue again. I haven't closed my browser. So I'm not sure why it would forget the clicked links again.
5 minutes later while writing this post I decided to check the subreddit again, and now the links are all purple again.
Now I opened up a new tab and went to that subreddit and.. they're all blue again.
If I refresh the tab where they're purple, they stay purple. If I refresh the tab where they're blue, they stay blue.
What the hell is happening and why is it constantly forgetting and then remembering that I've clicked those links?
It's not the end of the world but it is pretty annoying since seeing what links I've clicked helps me avoid re-reading posts I've already read and such.

I had read every post in about the last month or so on said subreddit, other than a couple that were posted today, but I noticed the links were all blue again like if I hadn't clicked them.
I went to Google about the issue and found someone saying they had the same issue and it was due to the browser not yet fully loading its history and to give it a few minutes and the links would appear purple again.
I gave it a few minutes and that didn't happen, but about an hour or two later I went back to the subreddit and sure enough the links were all purple again.
At this point I assumed the person describing a similar issue was right, that Chrome just hadn't yet loaded the relevant information about me having clicked those links before and that it took some time for that to happen.
But I just went back to that subreddit 5 minutes ago and all the links are blue again. I haven't closed my browser. So I'm not sure why it would forget the clicked links again.

2024.05.21 23:33 Ok-Significance-1752 Sorry for being a bit late with this story I had several other projects and schoolwork I had to do but here it is. How Martlet and Papyruses puzzle helped the entertainment industry.
Martlet and Papyrus are two names that are rather famous throughout the Undertale and Undertale yellow communities. Of course, there are many things that come to mind when you here both names. Papyrus for example is the loud. arrogant, but kind skeleton that is the brother to the funny Skeleton Man (Sans). Martlet on the other hand you might remember as kind of a mother figure to clover if you support the idea of momlet or maybe just the puzzle loving bird friend of clover. Each of these characters have unique fates for each Fanfiction a member of our beloved community writes. Whether its romance, tragedy, or a simple slice of life fanfic. So where do these two falls in my little world of a second human monster war. Well, it might be a bit more complex than one might think.
Opening UN Archives.
The second monster human war was the most destructive war in history and resulted in the destruction of several Undertale AUs and monster race losing 90% of their population all because they followed a racist and mentally Ill scientist name Chujin. As tragic of this sounds it doesn't mean people tried to improve the aftermath and make life easier. Papyrus and Martlet are a good example of this.
Martlet was born in the human year 1959 at an unknown date. Accounts of her early life and parents have been lost to history to due Asgor and the monsters general poor record keeping with Alphy's and Chujin being the only ones who kept some records of sorts. It's possible this poor record keeping is why Chujin thought the monster population was bigger than it actually was. What we do know is Martlets part the events of what the United Nations Elimination of Monsters Coalition calls Undertale Yellow are and some of her life just before the events. It's suggested by Human historians that Martlet got into puzzles when she was possibly 12 in human years but that's just a rough idea. Interviews with her few surviving friends state that she made her first puzzle at 6 years old in monster years which is roughly 14 years old in human years. To further complicate things is the fact that different monsters age differently than others with Martlets species having the closest correlation to human years out of all monsters.
Payrpus birth and exact age are harder to track down. All we know is that he and his brother Sans (Currently living in New Ebot in Colorado. Mt Ebot is in Colorado) appeared in the underground out of nowhere in 1980 on the [Redacted] of [Redacted]. Papyrus took a job as a royal guard somewhere between 1980-1981 and met Martlet possibly around that time. We both know based on William Henderson's interview with Papyrus and a mention by Flowey that they exchanged blueprints for their respective puzzles on occasions and while Papyrus describes her as his closest friend Sans stated that "She was simply my brothers pen pal" whether this was Sans simply messing with Willaim Henderson or him saying the true we'll never know.
EVENTS OF UNDERTALE YELLOW
The turning point in Martlets life came on May 12th when a certain kid named Clover fell into the underground. Clover was born on the 4th of July 1969 though his family moved to the to the town of Ebot Colorado in 1978. He never got to meet his father until 1975 due to his father's enlistment into the Unified states of the Americas army during the Vietnam war. (1962-74. This is an Alternate Vietnam the US still loses however) When his father came back, he was a drunken and PTSD ridden mess. Clover's mother was little better as she was rather neglectful and lazy. Clovers Unhealthy Family life would play a role into going ahead with his plan to find the forgotten 6 children who had gone missing throughout the 60s and 70s. He developed a fascination with cowboys when watching western movies (Particularly the old ones) along with a cowboy attire. He wore this attire proudly. Due to his family life, he matured rapidly. When his friend Integra (The soul integrity) went missing when she was dared to climb MT Ebot it was the final nail in the coffin for him and he began to prepare himself for an expedition into the mountain. He bought a Coll-Wesson revolver and rope by stealing money from his father. (He was beaten for this) on May the 12th he climbed Mt Ebot and jumped into the underground and died.... Oh, wait no Flowey brought him back to life without him knowing. Clover then met Flowey around 30 minutes later starting his journey.
Martlet in the meantime was lazily relaxing in one of the many checkpoints in the Snowdin area. The exact time she met clover is unknown, but it was most likely 1 hour after she had sent a list of suggestions to how Payprus could improve his puzzles. Martlet originally tried to follow protocol and capture clover however after seeing how peaceful clover was, she gave up on it. Then after their failed attempt to get to the hot lands, the fiasco in the wild east, and meeting Ceroba and Chujin, Ceroba (Chujin is alive in my story, but Kanko is not and was killed by integrity according to Chujin) was revealed to want clovers soul to bring back Kanako. Chujin was horrified at the thought of killing an innocent kid and went against his wife's wishes (Unknown to the others this was a ploy to gain trust) Martlet and clover spoke briefly on a hotel rooftop before going with Starlo and Chujin to face Ceroba. Ceroba knocked Martlet, Starlo, and Chujin (Who was only pretending) out. Clover battled it out with Ceroba on the 13ths of May. Clover came close to winning until Chujin drove a knife through his back killing him. Chujin then asked Ceroba to not use clovers soul to bring back monster kind but to instead to give it to Asgor so monster kind can be free. (Chujin is still the royal scientist in my AU) Ceroba after some arguing agrees with Chujin as Martlet and Starlo begin to wake up. Chujin calls the royal guard who apprehend Starlo but Martlet Barely escapes by flying away.
Knowing her time was now limited she sent the last Blueprints to Papyrus before the royal Guard burst into her home at around midnight and captured her. Martlet and Starlo were executed by undying on the 14th of May early morning. While Martlets story came to an end her legacy and puzzles did not as Papyrus received her blueprints on the 14th and would hide them from the royal guard.
EVENTS OF THE SECOND HUMAN MONSTER WAR AND PAPYRUSES RISE TO FAME.
Papyrus would with the help of Sans create more puzzle's and preserve Martlets puzzles. Then on September 4th, 1984, Frisk fell into the underground and was killed by Undying. After this Papyrus was ordered to destroy his puzzle's as they now had no use to monster kind as the invasion of the surface was inevitable. Papyrus as a sign of things to come suggested instead of destroying the puzzles they should be used to entertain monster kind's children. Undying would allow it and Papyrus who still wanted to hunt the humans though his loyalty was shaken by martlets execution agreed to be in the first wave out of the underground. On the 10th of September the monster climbed up to the surface for the first time.
The sight was so breathtaking many simply forget that they were invading. Chujin fear that the humans would be waiting for them up on the surface ready to exterminate monster kind was proven false within the first day as no human was spotted on the first day. Chujin still refused to believe reports and still ordered the invasion forward. Papyrus spent the first day trying to make more puzzles. On the 11th the town of Ebot was spotted and attacked by Asgors army and Chujins boss monsters and axis models. Papyrus was in the attack but quickly simply broken down as he watched the monsters slaughter humans indiscriminately. What made Papyrus ultimately desert the Royal Guard was the Human police's along with the 9th National Guards battalions last stand as they bought time for the civilians to evacuate the time. Papyrus stated in his interview with William Henderson decades later "IT WAS THEN ON THAT DAY I KNEW WE HAD LOST THE WAR. THE HUMANS PROVED BOTH BRAVER AND FAR KINDER THAN THE GREAT PAPYRUS AND MONSTER KIND!! IF THE GREAT PAPYRUS COULD GO BACK IN TIME HE WOULD HAVE GLADLY FOUGHT WITH THOSE BRAVE HUMANS!!"
Papyrus and later his brother Sans would go into hiding for most of the war until 1996 when they switched sides and joined the Commonwealth of Britannia's army. They would serve in the Commonwealths army until 1998 when they both retired. It was around this time when Papyrus began his journey to help the entertainment industry and carry on Martlets puzzle making legacy. The second human monster war by the time he had retired had gone on for 14 brutal years and large amounts of homes and cities had been destroyed. Papyrus would turn his attention to entertaining the many children who had lost their fathers and mothers during the ongoing conflict by hosting's puzzle solving challenges. Many of these puzzles' Martlets puzzles, and these proved to be a favorite among human children. Sans also helped and had stopped being lazily for once in his life.
When interviewed by William Henderson and asked what inspired him to do this he stated. "THE GREAT PAPYRUS SIMPLY DOESNT WATCH AS CHILDREN CRY IN THEIR SLEEPY AND REMAIN SAD. ITS NOT WHAT THE GREAT PAPYRUS DOES." The entertainment industry caught onto what Papyrus was doing in 2000 and offered to not only to fund his puzzle challenges but to make them into a game show of sorts. The show "Papyruses puzzles" was born as a result of this and has remained popular ever since. Sans found his calling in the fast-food industry and opened up his own fast-food chain to honor Grillbies who had died during the war. Papyrus would give a lot of credit to Martlet for helping him discover puzzles and funded the building of a statue in her honor.
WHAT PAPYRUS IS DOING NOW.
Papyrus is currently these days is donating much of his money to the protection of the underground charity and has recently created the Blue Bird Puzzle Corporation (Refence to Martlet). Martlet was dug up by UNEMC soldiers (United Nations Eliminations of Monsters Coalition) and was buried under a second statue made in her honor in Snowdin next to the Statue of Clover and the 6 other souls. Papyrus pays a visit to her grave once very 6 months. An inscription on her statue reads "The one that inspired THE GREAT PAPYRUS to make puzzles."

Knowing her time was now limited she sent the last Blueprints to Papyrus before the royal Guard burst into her home at around midnight and captured her. Martlet and Starlo were executed by undying on the 14th of May early morning. While Martlets story came to an end her legacy and puzzles did not as Papyrus received her blueprints on the 14th and would hide them from the royal guard.
EVENTS OF THE SECOND HUMAN MONSTER WAR AND PAPYRUSES RISE TO FAME.
Papyrus would with the help of Sans create more puzzle's and preserve Martlets puzzles. Then on September 4th, 1984, Frisk fell into the underground and was killed by Undying. After this Papyrus was ordered to destroy his puzzle's as they now had no use to monster kind as the invasion of the surface was inevitable. Papyrus as a sign of things to come suggested instead of destroying the puzzles they should be used to entertain monster kind's children. Undying would allow it and Papyrus who still wanted to hunt the humans though his loyalty was shaken by martlets execution agreed to be in the first wave out of the underground. On the 10th of September the monster climbed up to the surface for the first time.
The sight was so breathtaking many simply forget that they were invading. Chujin fear that the humans would be waiting for them up on the surface ready to exterminate monster kind was proven false within the first day as no human was spotted on the first day. Chujin still refused to believe reports and still ordered the invasion forward. Papyrus spent the first day trying to make more puzzles. On the 11th the town of Ebot was spotted and attacked by Asgors army and Chujins boss monsters and axis models. Papyrus was in the attack but quickly simply broken down as he watched the monsters slaughter humans indiscriminately. What made Papyrus ultimately desert the Royal Guard was the Human police's along with the 9th National Guards battalions last stand as they bought time for the civilians to evacuate the time. Papyrus stated in his interview with William Henderson decades later "IT WAS THEN ON THAT DAY I KNEW WE HAD LOST THE WAR. THE HUMANS PROVED BOTH BRAVER AND FAR KINDER THAN THE GREAT PAPYRUS AND MONSTER KIND!! IF THE GREAT PAPYRUS COULD GO BACK IN TIME HE WOULD HAVE GLADLY FOUGHT WITH THOSE BRAVE HUMANS!!"
Papyrus and later his brother Sans would go into hiding for most of the war until 1996 when they switched sides and joined the Commonwealth of Britannia's army. They would serve in the Commonwealths army until 1998 when they both retired. It was around this time when Papyrus began his journey to help the entertainment industry and carry on Martlets puzzle making legacy. The second human monster war by the time he had retired had gone on for 14 brutal years and large amounts of homes and cities had been destroyed. Papyrus would turn his attention to entertaining the many children who had lost their fathers and mothers during the ongoing conflict by hosting's puzzle solving challenges. Many of these puzzles' Martlets puzzles, and these proved to be a favorite among human children. Sans also helped and had stopped being lazily for once in his life.
When interviewed by William Henderson and asked what inspired him to do this he stated. "THE GREAT PAPYRUS SIMPLY DOESNT WATCH AS CHILDREN CRY IN THEIR SLEEPY AND REMAIN SAD. ITS NOT WHAT THE GREAT PAPYRUS DOES." The entertainment industry caught onto what Papyrus was doing in 2000 and offered to not only to fund his puzzle challenges but to make them into a game show of sorts. The show "Papyruses puzzles" was born as a result of this and has remained popular ever since. Sans found his calling in the fast-food industry and opened up his own fast-food chain to honor Grillbies who had died during the war. Papyrus would give a lot of credit to Martlet for helping him discover puzzles and funded the building of a statue in her honor.
WHAT PAPYRUS IS DOING NOW.
Papyrus is currently these days is donating much of his money to the protection of the underground charity and has recently created the Blue Bird Puzzle Corporation (Refence to Martlet). Martlet was dug up by UNEMC soldiers (United Nations Eliminations of Monsters Coalition) and was buried under a second statue made in her honor in Snowdin next to the Statue of Clover and the 6 other souls. Papyrus pays a visit to her grave once very 6 months. An inscription on her statue reads "The one that inspired THE GREAT PAPYRUS to make puzzles."

So gxk is out on digital but there is still a lot of confusion around what actually happened, I've done some research and I'll try to explain what I can. (Feel free to give opinions in comments!)

So first of all I don't think Shimo is actually the oldest Titan ever. I believe Mother of All Titans was just a name given in legend, like how Rodan isn't literally a fire demon. She still very much could be one of the oldest, and it could reflect on how reptiles were some of the first land animals ever.
MOTHRA
So Mothra as we know got blown to bits in KOTM, but the credits say Monarch found another egg in her territory. If you don't know, Mothra's whole shtick is that before every major battle, she lays an egg (hence why she was absent for the start of the Battle of Boston). She can transfer all her memories into this egg, essentially allowing her to be reborn in a different body. Now how the fuck did this egg get to Hollow Earth? Well, I think she hatched on the surface in larval stage, burrowed to the temple and made her cocoon there. The Mothra in KOTM had waited millions of years to hatch, so it would make sense that the one in gxk would need additional energy, hence why she went into dormancy that needed Jia to awaken her.
About her symbiotic relationship, i see it as Godzilla and his species being protectors of the surface, and Mothra being Hollow Earth's guardian, as she is where most of the Vial Vortexes are, and they would help each other when needed.
IWIS
So the Iwis are basically just the ancient humans, the ones who worshipped Titans and all, but the only two surviving ones in modern day were on Skull Island and Hollow Earth, and the one on Skull Island is as good as gone. About the telepathic connections, from as far as back as Kong 2017, we knew that they never talked, and in the graphic novel The Birth of Kong, their medicine literally gives people visions of Kong's past. Mothra was simply the one to be most connected to humanity, hence the prophecy eventually came to fruition.
About the crazy ass technology, their civillisation was surviving unimpeded by war and Titans (thanks to the barrier of Mothra's silk) for millenia, and Hollow Earth has tons of resources not fully explained yet. Given the multiple gravitational fields, its not too out there that they could manipulate it like they did in the Hollow Earth battle. (If you suspend your belief this movie was WAY out there)
SCYLLA
The prequel novel (Godzilla x Kong: The Hunted) pretty much explains her so go read it (or just look up the plot on Wikizilla or smth)
TIAMAT
Tiamat had an encounter with Godzilla before in Godzilla Dominion, and was EXTREMELY territorial. Godzilla was nearly beaten but was able to get a terrain advantage and spared her afterwards. Godzilla in this movie was not having shit, so the moment he had a chance he blew her to pieces (RIP my girl).
About Evolved Godzilla, the reason he's pink is because apparently pink is higher up on the radiation scale than blue, so I guess there's that.
KONG
Adam Wingard confirmed that from now on he'll be referred to as King Kong, which is really sweet :D
Also, the reason Godzilla attacked him, not only did they have their territorial agreement, Kong emitted an alpha roar to get his attention, so that was a mistake on Kong's part.
TITAN WARS
For the last bit I've cobbled together the history we have to create a coherent timeline of the war:
Humans tried to use Titan's for war, so the Gojira were quick to retaliate, but as we know the Great Apes are the protectors of humanity so stepped in. Skar King saw this as an opportunity for world domination, so enslaved his species and went into full on war with Gojira. From the few that they were able to kill, he would fashion weapons out of their dorsal plates to parry the atomic breath, giving them a fighting chance.
Eventually, King Ghidorah appears from space, so the Gojira have another enemy. Godzilla gets the help of Shimo to freeze him in Antarctica, which is what created the ice age. The ice age causes the radiation levels to die down, so most Titans go into dormancy or return to Hollow Earth.
Skar King eventually acquires a crystal to control Shimo. My theory is that there used to be more of these crystals and were what the humans actually used to control the Titans, and Skar King got the last one. Godzilla can't beat Shimo at his current stage, so opts to imprison them all in the volcanic regions of Hollow Earth. The remaining Great Apes flee to Skull Island, becoming protectors of the native Iwis. My theory is that they formed sort of a subspecies (Titanus Kong), which is why Kong in 2017 (an adolescent) was smaller than Suko (an infant).
Because no other Titans except the few remaining Gojira are on the surface, another species naturally comes, an invasive one (the MUTOs). They kill most of the Gojira, then start to kill each other, the sole survivor becoming a MUTO Prime. She lays spores in two Gojira, (one being Dagon), one hatching into the MUTO Queen we see in King of the Monsters, and the two in Dagon would become the male and female from 2014. Godzilla is left the only standing Gojira.

Hopefully this isn’t downvoted instantly, because I know people seem to get strangely very defensive about Beast’s characterization in this run. I think there is a lot of miscommunication whenever a Beast fan complains about how he was depicted here. Often times people will discount those complaints because they think Beast fans just don’t want him to go bad, when that doesn’t really seem to be the whole truth from what I’ve seen. Ultimately, the complaints I raise and I have seen others raise are more about thinking the writing of his spiral in X-Force 2019 was not done well rather than that said spiral shouldn’t have happened at all. With the Krakoa era coming to an end, and “From the Ashes” having the now-rebooted Beast who is pulled all the way from his time on The Defenders, I don’t see any of the flaws here being addressed beyond characters casually referring to how bad he became. So I wanted to take this time in the in-between, where our new Beast is apparently just chilling on Wonder Man’s couch while the rest of the X-Men fight against Orchis and Nimrod, to once and for all lay out the flaws of Beast’s villainous era, and establish not that it shouldn’t have happened, but that it could have been way better.
Problem 1: A Lack of Pathos:
Most X-Men fans who have been reading for awhile will agree that it’s honestly surprising more mutants haven’t gone down a dark path. Their history is one of striving for acceptance, putting their lives on the line for people who would rather see them dead, and being rewarded with not one but multiple genocides on their population. Some of the most interesting stories can actually come from a formally “upstanding” mutant finally deciding enough is enough. When Cyclops went down his “villainous” path, it made a lot of sense. We’d seen him becoming more disenfranchised with the dream for years. We’d seen his trust in Xavier erode time and time again, and so when he decided to stop asking for acceptance and start demanding it, it was hard to blame him. Even as we saw most of his friends turn against him, that didn’t stop people from declaring “Cyclops Was Right,” because his perspective could easily be understood, and he did achieve results. More recently in X-Men ‘97, we saw Rogue go down a dark path in the wake of Genosha being wiped out, including Magneto and Gambit. Again, this was understood, and it was an interesting direction for her character.
This sort of turn would also make a ton of sense for Hank McCoy. Did you know that back towards the start of the original Uncanny X-Men run, Hank was actually the first X-Men we ever saw to leave the team and say that Magneto was right, after he and Bobby were attacked by an angry mob because Hank used his powers to save a young child? Over the years, one of Hank’s most recurring struggles and arcs is self-loathing and eventual acceptance of his condition. Hank has always been at his darkest when he’s trapped in his spiral of self-loathing, but when he comes out the other side, he tends to be one of the most optimistic mutants when it comes to coexistence with humans. He was out making connections and fighting alongside non-mutants before anyone else. Joining the Avengers and Defenders, speaking on behalf of mutant rights before congress, dating human women who were able to accept his appearance, blue fur and all. Until they weren’t… looking at you, Trish Tilby.
So with all of this in mind, it would honestly be an extremely interesting arc to see Hank, this optimistic mutant who has spent his life building bridges and making connections with humanity, to be slowly beaten down and start to believe peace is not an option. As one of the original X-Men, he has been there through every tragedy that struck the mutant population. And as one of the smartest X-Men, he has usually been at the center of these crises. He has seen advancements in science meant to eradicate the mutants. He has fought against viruses that threaten to drive them extinct. He was there in the wreckage of Genosha. He has seen countless friends killed again and again. He has suffered his own mutation evolving and making him less and less human-looking. He saw the development of a mutant “cure” and was tempted to take it. He has seen it all.

The book has no interest in detailing Hank’s fall from grace as we saw with Cyclops before him. The book just wants us to accept that Hank has already fallen. And in fact, according to the writing, maybe he never had anywhere to fall from. Any time a character in X-Force tries to ask important questions to understand Hank’s thought process, they are cut off. Usually by Wolverine saying “He’s always been like this.” And then on one occasion, when Wolverine asked Hank why he was doing all this dark shit, Hank said, “Didn’t you read the script? I’ve always been like this.” There is no attempt to examine Hank as a character. We don’t need to know why Hank makes the decisions he does, because this book wants Hank to be a black and white villain and so that’s what he will be. Why? Because he’s always been like this.

The problem is, that context is very important. Because it shows the disparity in the Hank of previous stories who made mistakes with good intentions vs the Hank of X-Force who did heinous shit because he wanted to. This was less a plane making a slow descent and more a plane that was slowly descending, but then its engines shut off and it plummeted into a fiery explosion.
To make this case, we need to briefly analyze the previous perceived transgressions of Hank McCoy to show what they actually meant for his character and how they differ from the Bond villain X-Force would present us with. Let’s start with Threnody. Somehow, Threnody became a bit of a buzzword for the beginning of the end for Hank. When people talk about the history of Hank and Threnody, they will usually present it as one of Hank’s worst sins, saying something like “Hank callously handed Threnody over to Mr. Sinister so he could experiment on and abuse her!!!” It kind of makes for some whiplash when you actually read the Threnody story people are talking about. Here is a brief rundown of what actually happens:
Threnody is a young woman who cannot control her powers. It causes her no end of grief, and when we are introduced to her, she is homeless and constantly in danger of hurting herself or others. Beast, Rogue, and Iceman come across Threnody who has been found first by Mr. Sinister. Sinister actually has a vested interest in curing the Legacy Virus, and believes he can help Threnody master her powers, at which point she will prove vital in his efforts to study said Virus. Notably, Threnody wants to go with Sinister here. While Rogue disapproves, Hank does believe that Sinister is actually Threnody’s best option, openly stating Sinister can actually help her gain control and the X-Men cannot, because, as Hank directly says, Sinister is willing to damn parts of his soul in pursuit of scientific enlightenment, and the X-Men are not. A few issues later, when breaking into Sinister’s base, Hank encounters Threnody again. She’s happy. Sinister did indeed help her control her powers, and she has been able to use her abilities to help mutants the world over, while also undermining Sinister’s more evil operations from the inside. Hank expresses relief, saying he was kept up at night by his decision to let her go with Sinister, but Threnody actually thanks him for letting her. And that’s it. That’s Hank’s big “crime” here.

There’s the time “Hank risked the timestream by bringing the original X-Men to the present day!” A decision that was made on his perceived deathbed with the hopes of bringing his old friend Cyclops back to his side. Hank wants to take the young mutants back right away, but they refuse. And instead of others enforcing that they need to return, we actually see Kitty Pride decide to lead them in the present in memory of Charles Xavier. Notably, Kitty would be one of the many mutants in future issues who would yell at Hank about this.
The point of this post isn’t to absolve Hank of all fault. He has made countless mistakes and bad decisions. Regardless of the culpability of others, the pulling of the O5 to the present was his decision. During Secret Empire, Hank would turn a blind eye to Hydra’s activity simply to keep the mutants under his care safe. During all of this, however, Hank’s character was not compromised. He expressed despair and regret over his worse choices, and struggled with thinking he was a good person any longer. Again, going back to his recurring struggle with self-loathing. He had pathos behind his decisions and how they affected him, and would often reunite with Wonder Man as an opportunity to recenter and declare he would “be better tomorrow than he was yesterday.”
You would think, if the aim of X-Force was to turn Hank into a full-on villain, it would take advantage of the long-form storytelling of comics to chronicle that escalation. He then accuses his old ally Colossus of conspiring with Russia against Krakoa, and calls forth the mutant population to witness as he parades a shamed Colossus through its streets. Then he kills Wolverine and resurrects him as a mindless animal who he uses as an attack dog against his perceived enemies. This isn’t an escalation, this is a different character. And the aforementioned lack of pathos means that we don’t get to see him struggle with these choices. We don’t see his thought process as he becomes darker and darker. Why would we? “He’s always been like this.”

The creatively-named Dark Beast is from an alternate future where Beast went down a dark path lacking ethics. The fun of this character, besides comparing his ideologies with our Hank McCoy, is seeing how Hank’s penchant for jokes or quotes now become far more sinister and cutting.
There’s a strange narrative that the jokey Hank is reserved for the Avengers while the Hank with the X-Men is all business and science. This isn’t entirely true. Early on when he was a member of the Defenders, Hank talks about this sort of thing. He essentially says that he wears different hats. While working with the X-Men, he used big words essentially to gain respect from both his teammates and humanity. But with other teams, and in his then-new furry form, he dropped all of that. His speech became more naturalistic and he was much more of a goofball. The thing is, it’s the speech patterns that truly change depending on who Hank is hanging with, not his personality. Hank with the X-Men and Hank with the Avengers are both jovial characters who like to tell jokes and quote philosophy. You can see Hank being a bit of a clown among the X-Men in various runs. So it’s not like it’s a given that Hank is some entirely different dry doctor devoid of any sense of humor when among the X-Men.
But this is how Hank is portrayed in X-Force. Part of why this version of Hank is so hard to reconcile with the rest of his history for fans of the character is that he just doesn’t act like himself, even when he isn’t actively committing war crimes. In one early issue of the run, we get a glimpse at Beast’s journal where he accounts a meeting he had with Forge. Now, Beast has been known to be a very physical character. He is often known to sweep others into a hug, or even plant a big kiss on their face in the case of characters like Wonder Man or Iceman. Meanwhile this one page where we read his thoughts on Forge is clearly pretending this is not the case:

Those who are close friends to the person and find themselves disturbed by their current actions. Again, I return to Cyclops. Yet we see various friends of Cyclops still caring for him and wanting to pull him back from what they perceive as the dark side. Like I previously said, Beast’s whole reason for messing with the timeline was because he felt he was going to die and wanted to try to appeal to his old friend and bring him back around before he passed on. When someone good goes bad, part of the emotional core is seeing former friends try to appeal to their better nature, and even eventually deciding they’ve gone too far to turn back.
Not so with Hank in X-Force. Like I said, this run posits that this is not any kind of heel turn for Hank. This is how he’s always been. “Hank this isn’t you!” “No, he’s always been like this.” “Hank, turn back before it’s too late!” “Turn back where? Cyclops and Angel similarly doesn’t care. Now you could argue this is because X-Force is a secretive organization. Bobby and Scott don’t even know what Hank is doing. There are two issues with this. First, things reach a point where they would know. Hank’s actions become public knowledge, and Wolverine goes off to hunt him down while the rest of the X-Men just kinda look the other way. And second, there is someone with a lot of history with Hank that was a part of X-Force and did see everything that was going on. Jean Grey.
But we never get to see Jean wonder what’s happened to her close friend. Jean who was always incredibly close to Hank. Jean who, it was confirmed during the All-New X-Men era, had mutual feelings for Hank and might have started dating him had things been different. But no, Jean, like every character in this run, accepts that Hank has always been like this. That’s the answer to everything. So instead of some kind of emotional confrontation where she tries to appeal to his better nature, we instead have Jean yell at Hank, use her powers to throw him against a wall, and quit X-Force. And then most recently, we see her tell Firestar without hesitation to throw Hank under the bus for any heat that comes her way from her undercover mission. Because everyone will believe Hank is responsible for all the bad shit. Who the hell cares about Hank? According to this run, no one.
Conclusion:
I hope you can see the larger issue here. When Beast fans complain about his Krakoan era, people assume they just don’t want to see their favorite do bad things. But it’s practically accepted at this point in comics that most heroes will have a villain arc. Hell, Iceman is the only one of the original five X-Men who hasn’t gone down a dark path at this point. The problem is that everything about the writing of Hank during this time was just not done well. There is no exploration of Hank’s descent into villainy, and any questioning down that line is immediately shut down by the assertion that this is just who he’s always been. There isn’t any slow escalation because his first move is genocide. Hank is not even written as himself during this era, but rather as a generic bond villain. And none of Hank’s former close friends even show any emotion about his turn to villainy. An evil Hank story could easily work. We saw it with Dark Beast. A story where the former optimistic member of the X-Men has been beaten down so many times that he takes on a “whatever it takes” mentality could be interesting and emotionally resonant as we both understand what drove him here yet hate the man he’s become. But that isn’t what we got. We got a run that wrote him as a complete stranger and then had all the characters tell the reader that they were wrong for ever thinking he was anyone else.

Their history is one of striving for acceptance, putting their lives on the line for people who would rather see them dead, and being rewarded with not one but multiple genocides on their population. Some of the most interesting stories can actually come from a formally “upstanding” mutant finally deciding enough is enough. When Cyclops went down his “villainous” path, it made a lot of sense. We’d seen him becoming more disenfranchised with the dream for years. We’d seen his trust in Xavier erode time and time again, and so when he decided to stop asking for acceptance and start demanding it, it was hard to blame him. Even as we saw most of his friends turn against him, that didn’t stop people from declaring “Cyclops Was Right,” because his perspective could easily be understood, and he did achieve results. More recently in X-Men ‘97, we saw Rogue go down a dark path in the wake of Genosha being wiped out, including Magneto and Gambit. Again, this was understood, and it was an interesting direction for her character.
This sort of turn would also make a ton of sense for Hank McCoy. Did you know that back towards the start of the original Uncanny X-Men run, Hank was actually the first X-Men we ever saw to leave the team and say that Magneto was right, after he and Bobby were attacked by an angry mob because Hank used his powers to save a young child? Over the years, one of Hank’s most recurring struggles and arcs is self-loathing and eventual acceptance of his condition. Hank has always been at his darkest when he’s trapped in his spiral of self-loathing, but when he comes out the other side, he tends to be one of the most optimistic mutants when it comes to coexistence with humans. He was out making connections and fighting alongside non-mutants before anyone else. Joining the Avengers and Defenders, speaking on behalf of mutant rights before congress, dating human women who were able to accept his appearance, blue fur and all. Until they weren’t… looking at you, Trish Tilby.
So with all of this in mind, it would honestly be an extremely interesting arc to see Hank, this optimistic mutant who has spent his life building bridges and making connections with humanity, to be slowly beaten down and start to believe peace is not an option. I paid Forge a visit in the Armory – and I must say that he can be, like Logan, rather impossible. There is a certain locker room bravado about him I find perplexing, like a language I only half understand. And second, there is someone with a lot of history with Hank that was a part of X-Force and did see everything that was going on. Jean Grey.
But we never get to see Jean wonder what’s happened to her close friend. Jean who was always incredibly close to Hank. Jean who, it was confirmed during the All-New X-Men era, had mutual feelings for Hank and might have started dating him had things been different. But no, Jean, like every character in this run, accepts that Hank has always been like this. That’s the answer to everything. So instead of some kind of emotional confrontation where she tries to appeal to his better nature, we instead have Jean yell at Hank, use her powers to throw him against a wall, and quit X-Force. And then most recently, we see her tell Firestar without hesitation to throw Hank under the bus for any heat that comes her way from her undercover mission. Because everyone will believe Hank is responsible for all the bad shit. Who the hell cares about Hank? According to this run, no one.
Conclusion:
I hope you can see the larger issue here. When Beast fans complain about his Krakoan era, people assume they just don’t want to see their favorite do bad things. But it’s practically accepted at this point in comics that most heroes will have a villain arc. Hell, Iceman is the only one of the original five X-Men who hasn’t gone down a dark path at this point. The problem is that everything about the writing of Hank during this time was just not done well. There is no exploration of Hank’s descent into villainy, and any questioning down that line is immediately shut down by the assertion that this is just who he’s always been. There isn’t any slow escalation because his first move is genocide. Hank is not even written as himself during this era, but rather as a generic bond villain. And none of Hank’s former close friends even show any emotion about his turn to villainy. An evil Hank story could easily work. We saw it with Dark Beast. A story where the former optimistic member of the X-Men has been beaten down so many times that he takes on a “whatever it takes” mentality could be interesting and emotionally resonant as we both understand what drove him here yet hate the man he’s become. But that isn’t what we got. We got a run that wrote him as a complete stranger and then had all the characters tell the reader that they were wrong for ever thinking he was anyone else.

History: I am a volunteer foster with a local rescue group. We picked up a litter from a rural animal hoarding situation. Puppies were confined in a crate in unhygienic conditions in a barn for first 5 weeks before we got them. Luna is the smallest of the litter. Flea/worm treatment and parvo vacc given.
She had urinary urgency (constantly squatting with no urine, or little drops at a time, often with no control ie just sitting there and would pee on herself, or would pee and then walk away like she was done but was still draining urine). She has pus-like discharge, green -yellow thick and creamy. It would be down the insides of her legs, large amounts draining constantly. A couple times a day the urine would be thick, gel-like and discolored. Sometimes she would just pee a gloop of straight pus.
Vet check: she was given a 10 day course of clavamox. Started on forti-flora and another puppy probiotic, I was giving her plain Greek yoghurt and bone broth to encourage hydration on top of Blue Buffalo Puppy food.
After 10 days of antibiotics she continued to have discharge and urinary symptoms. Vet did a Ultrasound a week after completion of course of antibiotics and said she'd never seen a bladder so full of pus. Apparently looked like a "snow globe" . She drew a syringe of urine for sample via U/sound and sent for culture. Result came back clear. Told that it will probably clear up.
A month has passed, she continues with the same symptoms. Was sitting on my feet while I was making dinner a few days ago and just peed all over us both. Her littermates potty trained beautifully. I've had a lot of experience with large breed pups and this seems unusual. I continue to find drops of pus and thick urine around the house daily. She continues to be crusty with pus inside her legs every morning (cleaning with sterile water wipes).
Third vet visit today (different vet) said he thinks vaginitis, will clear on its own. Thought follow up U/sound was unnecessary and that blood work would show nothing. He said that this is common in young females who have not been in heat yet.
The rescue is wanting to adopt her out ASAP and are proceeding with applications after today's "all clear". It isn't sitting right with me and would hate for a family take on a pup that might not be ready yet.

- I haven't received a welcome letter or a packing list. Where can I find it?
- Fort Moore Officer Candidate School (army.mil) I would download and print the packing list and the ISAP. The ISAP acts more or less like a syllabus from college. It will give a rough understanding of the rules, regulations, and requirements for you to pass.
- Is everything on the packing list required?
- Yes. Try your best to follow the packing list to the letter. It is almost entirely dependent on the cadre and of course, the weather does play a part in their decision making. Some things you'll find you didn't really need or use throughout your cycle. For example, my cycle didn't use 550 Cord almost at all, but I used it to build a hooch and secure sensitive items.
- What if I don't have the required equipment on the packing list?
- When it comes to military equipment, try your best and bring what you can. I was never issued an IFAK before OCS or after. The cadre understands they have some coming from basic and those in-service. So if you have it, bring it. If not, bring it up to your cadre and they'll schedule time to get it issued to you.
- Anything not on the packing list you recommend?
- I would recommend the following: hand soap, bathroom spray, travel vacuum, wet wipes, clipboard with compartment, pillow, very bright headlamp, multitool, and laminator. Hand soap because for some reason OCS had a hard time procuring it. Travel vacuum because you'll likely have 2 or 3 vacuums available to your platoon and having your own saves time. Wet wipes to dust everything down. Clipboard with compartment for Land Nav as you'll be running with maps, marker, protractor, and your points so its best to have something safe and secure. Laminator for your papers because its Georgia and your papers can get wet. The pillows at OCS have this weird plastic cover on so if you want a better night sleep, get a better pillow. The headlamp is just in case, some classes enforce the lumen limit while others don't, Land Nav is DARK so if you can find a lighthouse out there, do it. The multitool is just useful to have especially if you are out in the field.
- Where can I find some things on the packing list I am missing?
- Luckily there is a company called Commandos who helped us out the entire time. They have an OCS purchasing list you can take advantage of. They even deliver that weekend at the footprint.

- I saw you can bring your laptops? Is it required for classes? Can I opted in for a tablet or iPad?
- You can bring a personal laptop primarily for recreational use after duty hours. OCS will provide you with a government laptop that you'll need to use your CAC to access. Tablets and iPads are not considered laptops and will be confiscated like a phone. If the majority of your class has issues with the government-issued laptops, then the cadre may allow the use of your personal laptops.
- What is your day-to-day look like?
- Mostly on a non-physical or FTX event coming up you'll follow the following schedule: 0500 - wake up. First formation is at 0600, then you conduct PT until breakfast. After breakfast, you will head to the classroom and stay there until lunch, return and stay there until dinner. After dinner, it will be the end of the duty hours and you'll roughly have 2 hours for personal time.
- What are the most important categories/test to focus on?
- Treat everything as important. Every test you do not pass can put you at risk of being recycled, and it is up to you to catch up. For example while everyone is studying for tactics, you'll be studying tactics and history if you failed history. So save yourself the hassle and take every test seriously. The big 3 recycle events have been historically, Army History (70% to pass), Land Nav (4 points or more to pass (day and night)), and the 4-mile run (need to run in under 36 minutes regardless of gender).
- How many retests or chances do you get?
- You get 2 tries at everything before recycle. You get 2 tries again at the same test then you can be dismissed. For example: You are part of Alpha company. You failed history twice. You get recycled into Bravo company. You failed history twice again. You can be dismissed.
- If you happen to pass history but fail Land Nav twice, then you'll be recycled into Charlie. If you fail Land Nav twice then you can be dismissed.
- What is a recycle? What does it look like in OCS? Can you get dismissed?
- A recycle is when you fail something twice and you get "recycled" into the next class. A recycle can occur for other reasons such as illness or injury. You can also be recycled for improper behavior or being "peered out". Every class starts up in a like a month (I heard they are changing that for even further out). So even though the cycle takes about 12 weeks to complete, if you get recycled you can expect more like 16 weeks or more. We had someone at OCS who has been with it for a year. If you get recycled for repeat offenses, or do something majorly bad such as breaking the law, then you can be dismissed.
- What is being peered out mean?
- Throughout the cycle you are put into a platoon and then a squad. Your squadmates eventually all sit down and fill out a form to give to the cadre who is the weakest link in the squad. Usually, squads kick out the person they do not like. We had to kick out one person because they didn't mesh well within the squad and wasn't very kind. He would then get replaced with someone else who got peered out. Luckily after that one person got kicked out, the squad improved and we tried our hardest to keep it together. We still needed to peer someone out, but we kept tabs on them and invited them to a lot of our squad functions nonetheless as my squads grew to love and respect each other as a family.
- If you do get peered out, unfortunately, you get a spot report, moved to a different squad, and are at risk of being recycled if peered out again. Stay humble and help out whenever you can. I got the most respect from my squadmates as I stayed up late with them to help them with their STX lanes.
- What is personal time like?
- You essentially use personal time to work out if the PT wasn't enough, clean yourself, and prepare for bed. Yes if you have time, you can contact family and friends (when you get your phones), and if you have the time, play games. I don't recommend playing games as it distracts you from the mission of graduating.
- What are the different phases like?
- You are separated into 3 phases. Black, Blue, and White. You immediately enter black phase upon arrival with a tradition called "Gold to Black". Which is more or less a physical smoking session. During Black you are expected to run everywhere, not be able to drink coffee, have your phone confiscated (and given back on Sunday), and have less personal time. Blue you get the ability to drink coffee again, and you have your phones returned and used only during personal time. During Blue you get the ability to visit and explore the base (Fort Moore) and shop around. During White phase you get the ability to explore off-base (Columbus) and you get to wear civilian clothes. White phase if you leave off-post, you need to be in uniform, and on-base you can be in civilians.
- Can you use your personal vehicle?
- Yes, but you can only drive it during White Phase
- How can I keep in contact with my family during Black phase?
- I recommend that you download WhatsApp or some other social media on your laptop and have your family members on it.
- Can I visit the gym on base?
- Yes during Blue phase you can visit the gym. Rules regulate that you leave the footprint in uniform and change into the appropriate PT uniform once at the gym and conducting PT.
- What is the DFAC like?
- The DFAC is better than basic training and offers snacks like cookies, granola bars, ice cream, and soda. They have a salad bar and the usual cycle of foods. They do have a "short-order" line that serves fries, burgers, hot dogs, etc. To stay in physical shape, I recommend eating your fruit and a side salad every meal. Drink juice, Gatorade, or water only. I only drank soda and the burger after an intense physical requirement like a long run or a ruck march to regain my glucose and caloric levels.
- Does Amazon deliver there?
- Yes, you can have other things delivered to the footprint. However, the Cadre are going to inspect it for food and other contraband. Just ask the cadre for the delivery address. It may take like 2 weeks for them to deliver it.
- Any final advice?
- Be helpful and noticeable amongst your squad but try not to bring attention to yourself from the cadre. Take everything seriously and give yourself proper rest and proper nutrition. OCS is not hard, but it can be if you let it get to you. OCS is designed to test your competency, commitment, and character. I luckily had an amazing squad, and I had a blast with them.
- Any advice on room cleanliness?
- Your rooms will always be inspectable. You literally leave the door open and cadre can enter whenever they please to inspect your room. Room inspections are always very strict and can result in spot reports. Some tips I did with my roommates were the following: Always help each other lock each other's lockers. If it is open the cadre will then see how much of a mess it is. My closet was 90% of the time never up to standard as it is hard to putting away everything nice and neat every single night. I also slept on the floor to not disturb my bed as any wrinkle can result in a spot report. I used an extra towel as a display in the bathroom and never used it, and I used an extra laundry bag as a display and never used it.

2024.05.21 20:35 Correct-Mouse-7394 I broke off contact with my mother 22 years ago and my biological father 15 years ago. I have this pain and anger in my chest that I can't let go of and I believe its affecting my life daily.
I'll start off by saying I don't want to sit here and write a post of another failed set of parents, but, alas, I have nobody else I can speak to about this that would really understand. I've found therapists do be rather unhelpful and I truly have trust issues with people. I've kept a lot of this inside for my life and at this point I think I just need to somehow let it out instead of punching holes in walls or screaming in anger randomly. Maybe writing it here would help me sleep a full night or be a little happier in life?
Either way, I would genuinely appreciate hearing your take on this for those who have experienced a similar past. I'm not looking for sympathy, but a possible path that I can take in getting rid of this hate I have inside of me for good.
By the age of 13 I had already been living with different friends for months and months with no idea where or what my mother was doing. I went to school but only when I wanted to, otherwise I would wander around and skateboard on the streets until it was time to go 'home'. She would randomly show up in her beat up 80s Honda accord with everything she owned in the backseat to see me once in a BLUE moon. Never once did she speak with my friends parents or caretakers about me, just assumed I would worm my way into another family and their life and become another mouth to feed with no explanation. As a kid you don't really see it from an adults perspective, but as an adult you know there's a failed adult behind this child in your home.
I knew the situation wasn't ideal, but I was living with my best friend at the time for a while as a kid. Every night was video games with your best bud, how bad can life be?
My mother was 17 when she had me, and 16 when she had my brother both with the same guy. I never knew my brother, he was given away because either she was too young or she didn't want him. I spoke with him a few times on social media, but nothing more. I don't use any social media so any contact I did have is gone. He didn't know I existed until I had reached out and has never spoken with our blood parents.
Super mommy did it all. Drank whatever and whenever she could, frequently used drugs (even sold them to my friends who were in middle school for a couple of bucks), fist fought anyone that upset her (including men and myself at a certain age) and was always the victim in these scenarios. She hadn't been this way for as long as I knew her, but majority of the time it was. She had a temper like no other and felt like it was "her" superpower. When it reality it's just a weakness that everyone gets to experience firsthand, either verbally or physically depending on the day. "You can fuck with mean, but you can't fuck with crazy!" she'd say, moments before road raging with a stranger at midnight in the middle of nowhere.
When my 'step' father (the man who raised me most of my life and I love with everything I have) had heard of my situation living abroad, he didn't hesitate to pick me up and take me to a better place in an entirely different part of the country. He and my mother didn't see eye to eye on much after I was about 4 years old, but he always stuck around in the same town we lived in to be around me. Eventually he went back to his hometown when she severed communication between he and I. Only through the grapevine did he hear about me and what I was doing. A few days later he had driven across the US day and night to pick me up, give that family money, thanked them and took me away.
The last time I spoke with my mother was when she took me out for some new shoes for my 14th birthday making promises left and right, while again sitting in her car with everything she had in the backseat. It was just another day with this human who couldn't help but do drugs and lie to me. I already knew I wouldn't be here in a few days and when she came back to see me, I was gone.
I lived in this new home and it actually felt like one with my Dad (step dad but he was my DAD). A few years of having a HOME was surreal and I think I took it for granted, because that too came to an end. I was just starting college and that's when parent #2 came into my life.
Meet Bio-dad! He was once only a few blurry pictures from many years past and tales from my shaman mother. Naturally I was always curious about him, and one day we were in contact with one another. Somehow he managed to find me, even though he had been paying child support for most of my life. He flew out to meet me, and a few months later I somehow decided moving across the country to live with him was a swell idea.
I thought this might have been it, finally, the blood I thought I always wanted in my life. But just a few months in I realized he was no better than her. He was successful and worked hard, but that doesn't mean he's a good person let alone a father. I never called him Dad or Father purely because I was a young adult now and didn't need another figure like that in my life, let alone from someone I barely knew. He was on marriage 2 or 3 with step kids and I just felt like I was 13 years old again in another strange house. I was told he spent a long time trying to find me when he was paying child support but was never able to. I believed him at first, and sometime later many divorced fathers told me that probably isn't be true.
It felt like he was constantly angry or upset at something. His wife, the kids, the dogs, the pool, whatever he was annoyed with everyone else was obligated to agree or veer away. He often found ways to make himself out to be the hardest worker and nothing matters but how many hours you clock in your worksheet. He "wished he could work 40 hours a week". After a few months of everyone arguing, yelling and finger pointing over little nothings each day, I decided I didn't need this kind of stress in my life and left to live in my small truck for a few weeks until I found a room to rent on my own and start my adult life.
Over the years he's tried to stay in contact with me but I never really gave much back to him if at all. I have no interest in knowing him, but his insistent attempts to contact me with 'family is important' yada yada makes my blood boil. I have no blood family as far as I care to know. I'm on the latter half of this life and I simply don't see the point in trying to establish these relationships because we have the same grandparents or blood. Why would I EVER try to put myself into that situation again? For family? Something I really don't value or care about?
The last couple of years I went from never thinking about these humans to frequently finding myself shaking from anger and distracted in life from what I want to actually do and accomplish. I feel like I'm stuck on this chapter and I really, really need to move on from it. I thought just ignoring it would work, but alas as time goes on I get random phone calls and texts from people I used to know trying to get in contact with me. I know who they are, and I know who they're speaking for, but I don't ever give them the satisfaction of even responding.
So here I am, wondering what I should do. Do I call both of them (keep in mind I don't think they've spoken since the early 90s) and let each person individually know that I'd rather watch them suffer in life than to spend time with them? I don't even want them to know where I am, what I'm doing or what I sound like. Do I write them an email, pray they know what that even is and hope they understand I don't care for them?
I considered getting hypnotized so I can fully forget them. As ridiculous as that sounds I often wonder if I could completely remove them from my memory, would I be a better person? Would I finally feel this tension in my chest leave? Would I stop screaming internally when I'm alone out of anger towards them?
At this point in my life I just want to be happy with what I have and leave them in an old time capsule never to be opened again. As I get older the more I understand that childhood tremendously dictates who we are, and I'm learning that I don't really like who I am in some aspects, and I blame them for that. Whatever good and success I have in life is because of my 'step' Dad and how he raised me the best he could.
I don't know that I could be calm or mature enough to clearly state how I feel without emotions coming into the mix. Every time I imagine talking to them it quickly turns into a rage that takes a while to let go of.

I have a friend with whom I have had an affair over the course of two years. We are both religious and out of guilt or anger he has a history that he would block me, then unblock me, to get out of having difficult conversations. He was supposed to be a father figure from my church when my dad died but he craved the sexual and I gave it to him to ensure his attention. Blocking me, and me going around him blocking me, is a normal part of our conversations and at times he has complimented me for having the persistence to work around him blocking me.
We told his spouse (I always had kept my spouse informed in an attempt to mitigate the risk of the affair occurring) in February and she asked that he block me. She told me not to talk to him, but he never told me what he wanted. Over the course of a month and a half our friendship resumed with no physical contact although there were inappropriate overtones to the conversation. In the past two months we have occasionally discussed what’s going on with his facebook account and his wife’s Facebook account and he never seemed bothered that I asked about it.
This past week he admitted to having a different three year affair besides me, and was confiding in me about that relationship. He claimed it was before me after admitting it was three years , and also claims it was with his third wife (his current wife is the 4th but he claims the 3rd wife is the only woman he ever loved). He said it was during his fourth marriage . After admitting or claiming these things, I asked if he’d confided in his wife as well. He got very angry and said never to ask him about his past again. He told me I was too consoling. Then he claimed that there was no three year relationship and I was just so paranoid that I think everything is a CIA conspiracy. (I enjoy spy stuff in measure)

We told his spouse (I always had kept my spouse informed in an attempt to mitigate the risk of the affair occurring) in February and she asked that he block me. She told me not to talk to him, but he never told me what he wanted. Over the course of a month and a half our friendship resumed with no physical contact although there were inappropriate overtones to the conversation. In the past two months we have occasionally discussed what’s going on with his facebook account and his wife’s Facebook account and he never seemed bothered that I asked about it.
This past week he admitted to having a different three year affair besides me, and was confiding in me about that relationship. He claimed it was before me after admitting it was three years , and also claims it was with his third wife (his current wife is the 4th but he claims the 3rd wife is the only woman he ever loved). He said it was during his fourth marriage . After admitting or claiming these things, I asked if he’d confided in his wife as well. He got very angry and said never to ask him about his past again. He told me I was too consoling. Then he claimed that there was no three year relationship and I was just so paranoid that I think everything is a CIA conspiracy. (I enjoy spy stuff in measure)

I enjoy trying my best to dismantle a board much more than there not being a board to dismantle because it will only be built later on "our turn, comrade" and I have to sit there watching you bounce Cooclock or something so you can hit me with the exact perfect trap card to counter my deck that you searched and set on my, sorry, "our" turn. I like negate decks better than Albion the Sanctifire Dragon being practically a three for one because it messes with my graveyard while also removing one of my monsters from the field and getting their own monster on the field simply by summoning one of my guys to my field and Fallen of Albaz to the opponent's. I like trying to mind game my opponent when they play negate decks and make them have to think if my search is just bait or if it's my only play. You also usually don't run into the problem of "Just draw the out" like you do against decks like, say, Kashtira, where if the deck I'm playing is really graveyard reliant and can make practically 0 plays without it, then I either had the out to Arise-Heart or I didn't, but this had nothing to do with out-thinking my opponent. In contrast, against negate decks, it basically comes down to how many ways you have to interact with your opponent, regardless of what those ways actually are. As an example, Evenly Matched is much more powerful than something like Book of Moon, but if I activate Evenly Matched and Baronne de Fleur negates it, that's 1 negate gone from my opponent's side of the field. Also, if I activate Book of Moon targeting Baronne, then either my opponent negates it, in which case 1 negate is gone, or they don't, in which case Baronne is face down and her negate is offline, meaning 1 negate is still gone. This basically greatly equalizes the strength of various cards when going against negate decks specifically and makes the experience feel much less dependent on drawing specifically the exact card you need to deal with exactly what is in front of you right now, and even a hand full of nothing but combo pieces and no specific outs can still play through negates if you just have enough gas, but all the gas in the world won't save you if none of it works under Arise-Heart. I also feel generic boss monsters are completely fine, and I believe that Shooting Majestic Star Dragon deserves to be banned before Baronne does (not that I'm saying either one of them deserves to be banned, but I'm just saying that if one of them did have to go, Shooting Majestic Star Dragon should go first) despite Baronne being much more common and more generic simply because Shooting Majestic Star Dragon is a more powerful card, because I don't care how often a card appears, but I care how bad it feels to play against when it does appear, and saying that an unfun card is okay to exist because it only rarely shows up \or alternatively if it rarely resolves as in the case of cards like, say,) Exodia where it has the objectively strongest ability of all cards in Master Duel where you win instantly, but it's allowed to exist because Exodia decks are all kind of inconsistent, but I feel even a 30% winrate is 30% too high for "Your opponent did literally nothing and lost without even getting a turn", and I feel even cards like Jackpot 7 should be banned out of the principle of the thing despite seeing almost no play and resolving almost never even when they do, because if it's resolved even once in the history of the game, then that's one time too many\) is like saying that getting punched in the face is okay if it only happens occasionally, but no, something is either bad or it's not, and it should either be allowed at all times or it should not be allowed ever, but any sort of in between is simply nonsense (I also feel this means all cards should be at either 3 or 0, but putting it at 1 just means that you admit you want it showing up as little as possible because it makes the game less fun by being too strong but you won't go the whole way for whatever reason and simply ban it outright. The only exception would be cards like Ratpier or Malicious that specifically work with multiple copies of themselves because it could be argued that reducing the number of copies without outright banning the card is a way to reduce the card's actual power ceiling, and I feel power ceiling nerfs are good while consistency nerfs really aren't (They're better than leaving the card at 3, sure, but that doesn't mean they're good, but they're just less bad). Also I guess sometimes they limit cards like Meow-Meow-Mu to hurt a deck's grind game without reducing its consistency necessarily, and there's probably other reasons I can't think of off the top of my head too, but you get my point, and limiting or semi-limiting a card to reduce consistency isn't really solving the problem in the end that the card is just too good), and I don't know about you, but I don't want to get punched in the face every day, I don't want to get punched in the face once a week, I don't want to get punched in the face even just once a year, but I just don't want to get punched in the face ever because getting punched in the face just feels bad no matter how infrequently it happens, but anyway, my point is justI don't care if Baronne is generic and I see her every other game or if she's heavily restricted somehow and I only see her once in a blue moon, but I want to know how powerful she is when I do see her regardless of how frequent that is. Also, yes, I understand the idea that if a card is generic that means that it will be spammed alongside 50 other boss monsters by decks like Superheavy Samurai, but I feel that in cases like this, the problem isn't cards like Baronne existing, but the problem is simply decks being able to get so many materials on the field to make all these boss monsters in the first place, and it's no singular boss monster that's the problem because any one of them by itself would be easy to deal with, so in my opinion cards like Soulpiercer are more to blame than cards like Baronne, or Borreload Savage Dragon, or just whatever. As a slightly more concrete example, though, Swordsoul plays Baronne but Swordsoul is still generally not really seen as a problem deck simply because other than Baronne they don't have much else on field but probably only a Chixiao and maybe also a Blackout or a Protos if they're lucky, but certainly not 50 other boss monsters like Superheavy Samurai would have. And yes, I also realize one second I was saying big negate decks were fine (when I said "I actually like playing against big negate decks") and then another I was implicitly assuming they weren't (when I said Superheavy Samurai was a problem). That's all I had to say about that, I recognize the contradiction and wanted to make sure everyone knew that I knew because I would find it annoying to have 50 people pointing out something I already noticed in the comments, but I personally don't see a problem with me making both of these statements because obviously there's a limit to how far negates can go before they become unreasonable, and, as an example, practically infinite negates like Naturia Beast or something is obviously bad, but I feel this goes without saying and doesn't defeat my larger point that negate decks are fine up to a point, because the deal is any deck can become a problem if it can do whatever it does too much, and if a deck simply had infinite Book of Moon effects, then that would be a problem too even though Book of Moon is hardly seen as that big of a deal simply because if you can do it as often as you like, then you can beat me even with literally 0 skill just by yes clicking Book of Moon all day completely brainlessly, and suddenly I'll have 5 face down monsters in my monster zones and I'll be completely unable to make any further plays due to having no more room (except I could still fusion or tribute summon or whatever, but those will just get booked, too, so it doesn't matter) despite this taking 0 brainwork at all on your part, and I don't know about you, but I wouldn't find it fun to lose to mindless yes clicking like this even if it was with a "weak" type of effect any more than I enjoy getting hit with infinite negates off of Naturia Beast and losing to mindless negate spam either, but anyway, though, my point is just it's not exclusive to negate decks that they become a problem if they're too big and so I don't feel there is a real contradiction between saying negate decks are good but then also saying too many negates is bad, because it goes without saying that if I say anything in the game is good, I mean only up to a point, but you would be correct, I suppose, in saying that my phrasing of what I said was off, and I probably should have said moderately big negate decks are good, but absolutely huge ones are obviously bad the same way huge anything is bad. P.S. Wow, when I was linking all the card names to the appropriate card in the database, I saw that a LOT of these cards I mentioned were banned in the TCG. I knew the TCG had a stricter banlist than Master Duel, but I don't play paper Yu-Gi-Oh! so I didn't know the specifics, and that just blew my mind just how many random cards that I take for granted in Master Duel are actually banned in the TCG, and next thing you know you're going to be telling me that Maxx "C" is banned over there or something and they live in a paradise where they don't randomly lose half their games just because their opponent drew one random card, but, nah, that's crazy, it could never happen. |

TLDR; wondering if anyone has seen the "waiting for this message" chat with blue check marks and if anyone knows what this means. Also, will deleting my whatsapp and redownloading my stored data from ICloud completely delete my chats along with their media history?

I recently upgraded my phone through Apple, and now one of my chats in Whatsapp is stuck on the "Waiting for this message. This may take a while." message. My Whatsapp is set to backup daily, however, this person messaged me the same day that I was upgrading my phone. Of the two messages they sent that day, one of them is in the chat, and the other is completely gone. The "Waiting for this message" appeared as if it was a message sent from me to them after I had upgraded my phone and attempted to reply to them. I should note that the "waiting for this message" chat that is sent from my end has two blue check marks, so I am not sure if my message went through and they read it, or if the literal "waiting for this message" text went through and they read that, or if it didn't even go through at all. Has anyone encountered this before?

So I all started back around August in 2023 when all this happened. I wasn’t in the right mindset as there were a lot of things going on in my life with losing family members to finding out my mother had dementia to just not wanting to have any sort of outside life and be a homebody. Just out of the blue I feel I just disconnected myself from everything and everyone and was just going to work and nothing else. I stopped talking to my gf without any reasoning after we got into an argument that I can no longer remember what it was about but turned out to be the “trigger” for me to just give up. By this time we had already been together for 5 years and living together for 3 years as well. So it got hard for us as we were both stubborn and did not try to talk after this fight. As time progressed through the months we just stopped talking and did our own thing while still living together and avoiding each other as much as we could. We didn’t talk much other than bills that needed to be paid and purchasing food as well. We somewhat talked a month or so later and mentioned that we were just civilized roommates nothing more and this continued until February of this year. During that time she would go out with friends and dates from what we discussed when we got back together and I would just stay home collecting myself and slowly getting back together by playing COD with friends almost every night.
Once February came around after valentines I decided to talk to her to see what our future would be in terms of selling the house working it out or whatever the case may be. Strangely enough she asked me if I wanted to join her at the movies that day and of course me being the stubborn asshole I am told her no also because I had already made plans to go the the movies with a friend. So she still ended up getting ready and I asked her if she was still going to the movies. She said no that she was going to her mom’s house to see a movie with her niece. I get ready and head out and lo and behold I see her walking to the theatre with another guy. This make my heart drop and realize she lied to me about going to her moms. She notices me and waves me down like nothing and just tells me “oh I didn’t know you were coming to the movies. I’m just here with a friend too” so I tell her what about her moms and said oh no I wasn’t planning to go and ask if I wanted to meet him. Wanting to call her bluff I decide to say no and drive off. She continues to call me and Ignore her and go with my friend to eat instead. I’m definitely devastated by this considering I was going to talk to her about making up and seeing if we still had a future or not. I understand that we were not together during this time but seeing it actually hurt more than just knowing. The day comes to an end and we decide to talk that night. We talked about the 6 months that passed what we did(not in detail) and if we really wanted to work things out. We agree to work it out and move forward.
During this time it’s still fresh and I notice the guy is still texting her and possibly others she dated a month before. I bring it up to her to discuss it and I ask her to please let them know we are trying to work it out and not to think she is available. Time passes by for about 2-3 weeks after we talked. The guy is still messaging her and i bring it up again that it’s not right and that she should say something. So she finally decides to meet with him in person to let him know that she is trying to work it out with me and that she needs some space. Only I come to realize later this month(May) that she told him she needs time for herself and did not mention trying to work it out with me.(could this be a red flag?)
As time moves on we have little hiccups here and there and I start to feel this guy feeling that doesn’t sit right with me. Not sure if what it is but it makes me feel down and my mind starts to wonder. I can’t help to wonder that she is still messaging someone else and I begin to investigate. This is all happening in May and by this time we are good(or so we say but don’t feel it) and by this time I find out that her close friends which is two do not know about us working it out and a new close friend she made at work as well does not know about us. Which is fine I guess but it kinda bothers me because her new close friend has a friend that introduced her to him to see if they can hit it off. This triggers something for me and I ask her why hasn’t she mentioned that we are talking but her excuse is she’s afraid that she’s going to look stupid in front of her friends if I leave her again like I did 8 months ago..I understand where she is coming from but I we discussed earlier I tell her I am devoted to her and want to make this work because I love her. Maybe I am looking too much into this but I figured by now she would’ve mentioned something that we are trying to work it out and are back together again since February.

I ignore it rather than bring it up for now as I do not want to start an argument or ruin the date we are having until tonight. The night continues and we go home and go to sleep. Meanwhile my mind is all over the place and I can’t stop thinking about it and why is she messaging him.
The next day we make plans to do our own thing and she has plans with her friend. My mind is racing as I start to think if she is actually going out with her or with this guy who I find out later she invited to the movies..the plan was to go to lunch while I work on some things at the house and then meet up to take the dog to the vet. She leaves and I begin to let my mind unravel and by this time I’m just trying to keep my sanity but I decide to do something stupid. I call the restaurant to see who she is with. Probably the lowest I’ve gone to creeper status..but my mind and my heart are just in so much pain thinking of that time I caught her with another guy. I find out it’s just both of them so I am relieved.
She comes back for lunch and I head over to pick up the dog to go to the vet only to find out the waitress told her I called the restaurant to see if she was there.(again my fault because I told her I had a surprise for her 🤦🏼♂️) she asks me if I called the place and I said yes. My thing is always about honesty and loyalty. I own up to what I did for the reason I did it and apologize. She tells me she got embarrassed because her friend who has been against me since day one just tells her that she should move on and not do anything with me. Which I understand but all my gf has told her is the negative things and not about us trying to fix it and her being caught doing things as well. Which is fine because any friend will obviously take their side.
By this time we stop talking and she stays at her mom’s house to cool off. I message her asking if we could talk but this time I want to let it all out. How I feel what I’ve seen, how this is emotionally, physically, and mentally draining me. We’ve had these talks before and even before we got back together as well. I have given her an out that is she does not want to be with me then we can break up and move on with our lives. We do still owe on the house but I have even told her we can sell it or I can just leave and my part of the house would be lost because I do not care for the money. I would just find an apartment and live my life and she can continue talking to the man or men and pursue what she wants with them. I’m so confused as she tells me she loves me and wants to be with me and shows me affection, support and everything else we discussed as if nothing is wrong but still messages this guy on the side while they are on silent. I also noticed she deleted the chat history and started fresh as well since Sunday. idk what to do anymore I am so torn right now…i wanted to spend my life with this girl and only to find out she is still doing this and also may be going on a trip with her friend and their group which includes this guy as well without me since she wants to be able to spend time with them separately which I’m fine with me as I have no problem with that other than the guy she’s been messaging will be there.
