2024.05.21 16:53 AI-Liv Thoughts on OneTrust for Data Discovery? Any customers??

Hi - I'm evaluating OneTrust as a Data Discovery tool to support automated DSAR processes and other privacy use cases. I can see they have loads of DSAR automation and workflow features, and integrations into sources like Salesforce to retrieve known data entities (e.g. ID number, email address). But I'm wondering how others have found OneTrust for data discovery, that is finding unknown information that's needed for e.g. fulfilling a data subject rights request.
For example, if you need to find personal data in a load of emails - how well does OneTrust cope with this? Can it automatically locate the PII? What else can it do, and what's it missing that you wish it did cover?
All thoughts from current/previous users much appreciated! :)

2024.05.21 16:47 Born_Pomegranate1937 How to identify client needs?

Understanding and meeting client needs is key to any successful business and client relationship. Here’s a more detailed look at five effective tactics to help you identify client needs and meet their expectations:
  1. Know Their Business: Take time to dive deep into your client’s industry, products, and competitors. It’s all about tailoring your approach to their unique situation. For instance, if you’re working with a tech startup, get to know the latest industry trends and specific challenges they face. This shows that you’re committed to their success and that you speak their language.
  2. Listen Actively: When you're in a meeting or on a call with a client, make it a point to really listen. Don’t just wait for your turn to speak. Active listening involves understanding their concerns and needs without jumping in with your response. It helps to take notes and ask clarifying questions. This way, you’ll make them feel heard and valued, and you’ll gather the details you need to deliver exactly what they’re looking for.
  3. Ask Questions and Paraphrase: Use open-ended questions to draw out more information about their needs and expectations. After they answer, paraphrase their points back to them to ensure you’ve got it right. For example, you could say, “It sounds like you’re looking for a solution that can cut your operational costs by 15%, is that correct?” This technique not only shows that you’re paying attention but also helps avoid misunderstandings.
  4. Bring New Ideas: Don’t just wait for the client to tell you what they need—be proactive in offering innovative solutions. If you can see a potential improvement or a new strategy that could benefit them, bring it up. For instance, if they’re struggling with customer engagement, you might suggest a fresh social media strategy or a loyalty program. Clients appreciate when you go above and beyond, showing your expertise and commitment to their success.
  5. Regular Check-ins: Keep the lines of communication open by scheduling regular check-ins. These can be weekly or monthly meetings, or even just periodic updates. It helps to stay aligned with their goals and address any issues as they come up. Regular contact builds a stronger relationship and ensures you’re always on the same page. For example, sending a monthly progress report can highlight what’s going well and what might need adjustment.
These tactics have really helped me in my work and I’m sure they can help you too. What strategies have worked for you?

2024.05.21 16:45 Timely-Jury6438 Security Bank CC Review: they are the best for me

Background: was a user of SB Clasic CC for 10 yrs. Very passive user ako up until last yr. This yr narealize ko yung potential ng CC so I requested for a Platinum. It was granted agad agad, requested late Jan, got the card Feb. So now I'm an SBC Platinum user na.
Customer Service: For me their previous app was the best. This new one ang problema for me is hindi real time ang posting. Up until March nagcacrash din siya but now smooth sailing na. Malinis and madaling maintindihan ang app.
What I like most sa SBC is may customer support sila na chat in-app. 24/7 din ito. You can request to chat with a live agent. Sa many experiences ko chatting with an agent, around 15 to 20 mins na ang pinakamahabang wait time nila. And if magchat ako say late at night na, less than 5 mins may agent na kong nakakausap. Pinaka downside lang sa chat function nila bawal ka magswitch ng screen at bawal ma-idle. Sa many requests ko with an agent maayos din ang resolution.
Example 1. I requested to waive my Annual Fee. Sabi nila hindi kaya iwaive. I asked anong pwedeng gawin. They said if I spend 40k in 60 days, they can waive, and here I am. 36 days in, na-credit back na yung 4k na annual fee. Process was
Step 1. Chat sa agent abt requesting for annual fee
Step 2. Spend the amount required
Step 3. Chat again to tell the agent na nareach mo na yung amt required
Nagchat ako Sat night, nacredit back ng Tuesday.
Example 2: Since mabagal ang posting sa app, nagchat ako sa agent to know ano yung mga previous transactions ko. These transactions were international and I wanted to know the peso equivalent para mapasok ko sa budget. They saw it sa system nila and they gave the details agad. I didn't have to wait for the posting nor my statement.
Promos: Sabi ko kung hindi ko mawawaive ang annual fee susulitin ko na lang ang promos nila. So far magaganda ang offerings nila. 5k+ spend ko sa Wildflour naging 2800++ na lang. Initially 3k dapat babayaran ko for resto food, since need ko talaga bumili ng pampasalubong papuntang US, nareach ko ang 5k min spend and nasulit ko siya with their bottled and other products. Nagamit ko din siya sa Botejyu at 20% off. Lounge access is also unlimited sa NAIA then may 2 free sa international. Gamit na gamit ko yung NAIA lounge. As a frequent traveler sulit sakin ang Mastercard Travel Pass membership. This gives you the ability to buy lounge access outside of the free na 2. Meron din sila minsan na vouchers/discounte sa Laz and Shopee. So far sa promos from March to May, nakasave nako ng 8k.
Madali din silang kausap in terms of utang. Nagkaroon ng time na nabaon ako sa bills (pandemic times). I called them to ask for (I forgot their term) but basically installment nung balance ko. Of course the longer it takes you to pay, the higher the interest but that option saved me na masadlak sa utang. Initially lumulobo yung utang ko kasi close to minimum lang nababayaran ko. When I called to ask anong pwedeng gawin, they gave me this option.
This review is in comparison to my other CCs. RCBC is also a good option. May chat function sila sa FB messenger. Di lang real time ang sagot pero pwede na compared to sa pinakaolats sa lahat na Union Bank.
Disclaimer: Of course gastos responsibly. Always remember, gumastos ng naaayon sa kakayanan. Pero it's good also to make your cards work for you, maximize their promos and offerings para sulit!

2024.05.21 16:44 Sorry-Camera1857 AITA for being so hard on my mother when she claimed she was just standing up for me?

This is a long complicated process. And I already know it begins with my fault so please don’t just comment that this is my fault…but when my now husband and I first moved in together-my husband had a hard time containing his temper. He would get mad (not even at me) and have outbursts where he would become blind to how he was acting. We would get into fights about how he handled his anger inappropriately and he get mad at me. I would vent to my mom when this happened- not knowing this would eventually come back to me.
One month before our wedding-my stepdad and husband got into a fight about business. My stepdad ended up hanging up the phone on my husband which really upset him. My mom tried to calm the situation and involve herself. Then she got mad when my husband couldn’t calm down in his ranting about how rude my stepdad was and she decided to then yell at my husband about how he needs to learn to calm down….but this didn’t just stop here. His parents got involved (they also were involved in the business thing) and they sent my mom a message saying she was disrespectful and shouldn’t have yelled at their son. My mom sent them a really long 3 page rambling email about all of the instances I had ranted to her and why she has a right. Then they blocked her on social media. My mom responded by blocking them back, saying she didn’t want to do business with them anymore and then calling their supervisor to complain about their unprofessional attitude…
My mom and husband have hated each other ever since. My mom refused to come to the wedding which obviously ruined it for me. It’s almost a year and a half later and they continue to hate each other. They will not come around each other. My husband won’t come to family gatherings. Both say it’s the other persons responsibility to apologize.
My husband has severely calmed down. He now handles his anger much better. But is still mad at mom. Mom and I have been distant. She still thinks she needs an apology. Husband just doesn’t want to be where she is. Mom would rather let our relationship go on being tense then apologize for anything. I don’t get it because my mom has been remarried 4 times and I always stuck by her. We have been through a lot. But she won’t even suck her pride up to apologize in order to have a relationship with her daughter still. I would do anything if it was my child.
My stepdad says it’s my fault for believing my mom would do anything for me and put up with me treating her this way. I would be wrongly assuming she should just take it just because she’s my mother. He says I only side with my husband because I think that just because my mother is my mother-she should be the one to fix it.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 21, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brixton Metals Corporation (TSX-V: BBB, OTCQB: BBBXF) (the “ Company ” or “ Brixton ”) is pleased to announce that its Thorn exploration camp is now open for the season and drilling has commenced. Brixton is fully funded for the 2024 exploration program with plans to drill test several new copper porphyry targets, including the Trifecta, Cirque, and North Copper Targets, in addition to further drilling at the Camp Creek Porphyry Target. The Thorn Project is situated within the traditional territory of the Tahltan and Taku River Tlingit First Nations.
2024 Thorn Exploration Plan Highlights:
  • The 2024 exploration plan consists of 12,000-17,000 meters of drilling across several target areas, collecting 2500 rock and soil samples, as well as a ~90 sq km ground MT Geophysics survey.
  • Drilling has begun at the Camp Creek Copper Porphyry Target to test for a high-grade copper core to the Camp Creek porphyry. This first hole THN24-286 is being drilled from the same pad as the 2023 hole, THN23-277, where copper abundance as chalcopyrite and quartz vein density are increasing downhole. The bottom 84 meters of hole 277 (957-1041m) returned 0.25% Copper, 0.09 g/t Gold, 3.78 g/t Silver and 142 g/t molybdenum, including 2m of 0.66% copper, 0.24 g/t gold, 12.0 g/t silver from 1032.88m. Hole 277 did not reach its target depth due to poor ground conditions.
  • The second Camp Creek hole is planned as a northwest step out from holes 184 and 201. Hole 184 ended at 1198m in strong copper mineralization with the bottom of the hole returning 318m of 0.42% copper, 0.17 g/t gold, 3.87 g/t silver, and 294 g/t molybdenum, and hole 201 intersected 150m of 0.60% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, 5.12 g/t silver and 391 g/t molybdenum. The objective is to test for a high-grade copper core to the Camp Creek porphyry.
  • The Trifecta Copper Target is located 1.5km southeast of Camp Creek and may be drill tested based on recent surface copper-in-rock and soil results and historical drilling, which returned encouraging copper-molybdenum results. The objective of this work is to search for a new porphyry copper center.
  • The Cirque Copper-Molybdenum Target is located 3km east of Camp Creek where drilling will test for a potential new porphyry center.
  • The North Copper Target area is located 15km northwest of Camp Creek, centered on a large surface copper anomaly. Drilling is planned upon completion of the MT survey and additional mapping and sampling with the objective of confirming a new copper porphyry center.
Watch Chairman and CEO, Gary Thompson, provide a summary of the 2024 drill program.
Chairman and CEO Gary R. Thompson stated: “ The Brixton team is excited to kick off the 2024 season. The Company has $12.5 million budgeted for the Thorn Project in exploration expenditures with the focus on new copper-gold porphyry mineralization. The scale of surface copper-gold mineralization is remarkable and Brixton is well positioned to generate new discoveries.”

About Camp Creek Porphyry Target
The original discovery of the Camp Creek Corridor was made by Cominco geologists in 1952 who identified the intense acid sulphate alteration in the area. However, it was not until 2019 when chalcopyrite-molybdenum veined clasts were observed below 400m depth within drill hole 150 on the Oban diatreme breccia which cut 554.70m of 0.57 g/t Au, 0.24% Cu, 43.18 g/t Ag, 0.55% Zn, and 0.28% Pb from 97.00m depth, providing evidence for a porphyry at depth. In addition, A-type porphyry veins were identified from relogging hole 121. Drill hole THN13-121 at the Glenfiddich Zone (located one kilometer west from hole 150) cut 2.21m of 10.62% copper, 583.05 g/t silver, and 2.55 g/t gold from a massive enargite-tetrahedrite-pyrite vein. The copper porphyry at Camp Creek was a blind discovery confirmed in 2021 when holes 183 and 184 were drilled below 1000m. The Camp Creek porphyry-style mineralization generally starts 300-400 meters below the surface level and remains open in all directions including at depth. Hole THN23-261 ended in mineralization at 1650m depth.

Figure 2. Drill Targets, Previous Collar Locations, and Copper-Gold Geochemistry.

Figure 3. Hole THN23-277 photograph of mineralized core at 1032.88m depth from a 2.00m Interval that assayed 0.66% Cu, 112 ppm Mo, 12.0 g/t Ag, 0.24 g/t Au.

About the Trifecta Target
The Trifecta Target lies between the Camp Creek porphyry target, the Outlaw Sediment-hosted Gold Target, and the Chivas Porphyry Target. Surface mineralization is expressed as structurally controlled narrow quartz veining with pyrite and chalcopyrite. A massive magnetite-pyrite-chalcopyrite vein in outcrop with a sericitic halo surrounded by strong silicification was found during the 2023 field program that returned 2.46% Cu, 71.4 g/t Ag, and 0.36 g/t Au. The mineralization style at the Trifecta Target is thought to be related to a copper porphyry at depth.
About the Cirque Target
The Cirque Target area, located 3km northeast from the main Camp Creek drilling, was revisited in 2023, which identified a 1km by 2km northwest trending area of pyrite-chalcopyrite mineralization. Historic drilling in the Cirque area by Julian Mining in 1965 intercepted sporadic copper mineralization throughout thirteen holes. The best hole from the 1965 program returned 0.19% Cu and 710 ppm Mo over 10.67m. Quartz-chalcopyrite veins were sampled in the area to the northwest of this historic drilling returned 1.6% copper. Mineralization is hosted primarily in Windy-Table volcanics and associated intrusions. Silica-sericite-pyrite alteration throughout the target area and the widespread pyrite-chalcopyrite mineralization in conjunction with favorable magnetic signatures and anomalous porphyry-index indicators suggest that a potential Cu-Mo porphyry system at Cirque remains untested.
About the North Copper Target Area
In the northwest corner of the Thorn Project, the Copper Target comprises a 15km by 5km area located 15km northwest of Camp Creek. Mineralization consists of broad, pervasive zones of disseminated and vein-hosted pyrite with localized areas of chalcopyrite and molybdenite that may represent the periphery of a porphyry system, as well as higher-grade narrow polymetallic vein zones and skarn-style mineralization that are more representative of distal environments.
Widespread mineralization at the main gossan consists of a large area with abundant pyrite, locally up to 15%, and smaller areas of increased chalcopyrite, molybdenite, and magnetite coincident with a quartz-biotite-feldspar porphyry of undetermined age. Copper-molybdenite mineralization is found in quartz veins and as fracture-fill with samples in 2023 returning up to 0.7% Cu and 2,290 ppm Mo. The north gossan is comprised of extensive pyrite with lesser chalcopyrite and distal galena with up to 5% pyrite and trace molybdenite in a hornblende granodiorite directly east of the area. Mineralization at the south gossan is predominantly associated with trace pyrite, chalcopyrite, and magnetite mineralization within a potassium feldspar megacrystic porphyry.
Higher-grade polymetallic mineralization is generally concentrated along the margins of Late Cretaceous dykes with silicified vein breccias extending 5-10 meters into the surrounding Laberge Group country rocks. The breccias are composed of sandstone and conglomerate of the Jurassic Laberge Group with quartz-pyrite-galena-sphalerite and trace sulfosalt and chalcopyrite filling the matrix.
A ground magnetotelluric (MT) geophysical survey of approximately 90 square kilometer in area is planned prior to drilling the King Copper Target.
2024 Gold Targets
While the dominant focus for 2024 at the Thorn Project is to drill test copper porphyry targets for new discovery, the Company continues to review gold targets for drill testing in 2024. These may include selective drilling at the Trapper Epithermal Gold Target (best intercept to date: 64m of 5.7 g/t Au), the Outlaw Sediment-hosted Gold Target (best intercept to date: THN-14-128 returned 59.65 meters of 1.15 g/t Au and 5.64 g/t Ag from a depth of 76 meters) and/or the Metla Target where surface rock grab samples to date returned up to 62.7 g/t Au.
MDRU Collaboration
Brixton Metals is collaborating with the University of British Columbia’s Mineral Deposit Research Unit as part of the BC Porphyry Study. An M.Sc. research project has commenced on the Camp Creek Porphyry Target with the goal of establishing geochemical and alteration vectors towards blind porphyry mineralization. In addition, an alteration mapping project is underway to characterize and map the large 4.1km x 3.9km alteration footprint centered around Camp Creek. With porphyry deposits frequently found in clusters, the use of petrographic, geochemical, and mineral spectrometer analyses will aid with vectoring outside of the currently drilled areas in order to identify additional potential porphyry centers.

2024.05.21 16:41 erepresent Driving Innovation: Transforming the Automotive Industry with SaaS Solutions

In recent years, the automotive industry has witnessed a remarkable transformation, largely driven by technological advancements. One of the most significant contributors to this evolution is the integration of Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. These cloud-based services are revolutionizing how automotive businesses operate, offering a myriad of benefits that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
SaaS solutions provide automotive companies with flexible, scalable, and cost-effective software applications accessible via the internet. Unlike traditional software models, which require extensive on-site infrastructure and maintenance, SaaS eliminates the need for large upfront investments. This shift enables even small and medium-sized enterprises to leverage advanced technologies that were once only affordable for industry giants.
One of the primary advantages of SaaS in the automotive sector is the ability to streamline operations. From inventory management and supply chain logistics to customer relationship management and after-sales services, SaaS applications offer comprehensive tools that integrate various aspects of a business. Real-time data analytics and reporting facilitate informed decision-making, helping companies optimize their processes and respond swiftly to market changes.
Moreover, automotive SaaS companies are enhancing the customer experience by providing innovative solutions that cater to the growing demand for personalized services. For instance, predictive maintenance software uses data from connected vehicles to anticipate and address potential issues before they become significant problems. This proactive approach not only reduces downtime but also fosters customer loyalty by ensuring their vehicles remain in optimal condition.
In addition to improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction, automotive SaaS companies are also driving sustainability initiatives within the industry. With increasing pressure to reduce carbon footprints, many companies are adopting SaaS solutions to monitor and manage their environmental impact. These applications can track emissions, optimize fuel consumption, and support the transition to electric and hybrid vehicles. By leveraging these tools, automotive businesses can align with global sustainability goals and enhance their corporate responsibility.
The integration of SaaS solutions in the automotive industry represents a significant leap forward, offering numerous advantages that drive innovation and growth. As these technologies continue to evolve, they will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation. By embracing SaaS, automotive companies can stay ahead of the curve, delivering superior products and services while navigating the challenges of an ever-changing market landscape.

2024.05.21 16:39 Swimming_Tangelo8423 Using Supabase Auth and CRUD in Next.js – How to Manage UserIDs and Secure API Routes?

I'm creating a todo app in Next.js. Users should be able to sign in, register, and sign out. Each user should be able to perform all CRUD functions on their todos. However, I don't have much experience with authentication in Next.js. I've seen that Supabase Auth is a good solution since it's simple to implement.
However, I'm struggling with storing users' todos because I don't have direct access to users in the database. I've seen some solutions where people retrieve a userID from Supabase and then store it in their own database, handling the rest through their own DB. I have a few questions about this approach:
  1. Retrieving userID from Supabase: How do you retrieve the userID from Supabase, and what is the best practice for doing so? Should I let users register with Supabase Auth and then create a user using Prisma at the end of the process?
  2. Next.js API Routes and Authentication: How can I check if a user is authenticated and retrieve their userID when using Next.js API routes? When adding a todo to the database, I'll need their userID to assign it to the Todo model. Similarly, when retrieving all todos for a user, what is the best way to ensure I get the todos for the authenticated user with an active session?
Any advice or examples would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.21 16:36 Fun-Sherbert3158 Certification Recs?

I’m an AP Specialist at my job while also helping with timesheet processing and am acting Facilities Manager till the end of summer.
My manager has been pushing me to look into certifications that I may want to get, but I’m not sure what to ask for.
Ideally I’d love for them to just cover some back to school expenses so I could get my BA. I don’t want to be a CPA or anything like that. I enjoy the business admin, keeping employees happy, and operations aspect of my roles.
I was considering project management style certifications or even business analyst style certs, but I was wondering if anyone had anything that might actually be helpful.
Thanks :)

2024.05.21 16:34 Weak_Impress218 Get Into Masters Degree with Lots of FF's

Hello, I am a 4th year student in chemical engineering. I didn't go to school for 2 years and my courses were recorded as FF on my transcript. I'm currently studying in the second grade because I couldn't tell my family that I wanted to stop studying and I tried to continue school with panic attacks. I'm currently continuing my studies and trying to fix things. The thing I'm wondering about is this: For example, for Texas A&M or any other school, will the FFs I went through during this traumatic process prevent me from getting a scholarship or entering a master's degree?
My university life is very passive, I'm in a small city. I used to invite people for projects and events, but now I have difficulty taking part in projects because I am as unenthusiastic as them and ashamed of my failure.
If you ask why, it was because I thought that everyone at school was more successful than me, and I believed that the education I received at my community college level school would not bring me to a good place, etc.

So my i-130 got approved. I'm canadian living in canada, and wife is usc.
I thought it was consular processing, but I guess now?
My approval says what it does in the img. Is this i-485 process? I was supposed to do consular..
If it is i-485, I'd have to move down and file it? Maybe 1-2 month wait?

2024.05.21 16:32 dine-and-dasha “They’re not sending their best” is actually progressive and nonracist

In fact it’s a great way to talk about the very obvious deleterious effects of unchecked immigration without impugning an entire race.
For example, the 2015 New Year’s Eve Cologne sexual assaults. The standard lib/leftist way of dealing with it is to never talk about it, never bring it up, call anyone who brings it up stupid, wrong and racist. But 1200 women were sexually assaulted by North African/Arab gangs in one night. It’s an insane thing to sweep under the rug. And as much as most women will refuse to complain about immigrants and their effects on their safety, it’s not fair to them to not even address the issue. For whatever reason you might personally support high levels of unselective immigration but you should confront the fact that it hurts quite a lot of people.
However, I actually don’t believe the North Africans and Arabs are inherently rapists. That would be racism. They’re just not sending their best to Europe. When you do unselective immigration, you tend not to get the best slice of that society.
The difference between a Syrian refugee family in Germany and a Syrian-American family in the US is huge. The Syrian-American family went through a selective visa process at some point, and they have a generally positive contribution to America, the refugee family, well not so much.
We should all embrace “they’re not sending their best” when talking about immigration.

Not sure if anyone has any experience or advice on this but I'm in canada and went through a creditor proposal process with my business. It was approved by the creditors and then should have gone to the court for approval. The person at the trustee company got sick and no one there picked up the slack and so it has now been about 6 years that this has been in limbo and im wondering if I have any recourse.

2024.05.21 16:27 Simplicity094 Dividend Income Questions

Hi all,
I'm really trying to nail down my portfolio and have quite a few questions. I would really appreciate an in depth discussion if anyone has the answers to my questions. Thank you!
My first question is about income and the second is about taxes. For this example, let's say my goal is to get to a portfolio of $1M and then live off the passive income for a majority of my expenses.
Example 1: I buy SCHD and DGRO now and for how ever many years it takes until I get to $1M
Example 2: I buy VOO now and for how ever many years it takes until I get to $1M, then sell all of it and buy SCHD and DGRO.
Question 1: Is there any mathematical difference in the amount of dividends I would receive per year if in both scenarios I have a total portfolio worth $1M? I would like to believe that by going with example 1, my dividends would be more when I reach $1M than if I did example 2, but numbers wise it seems like the dividend would be the same since the portfolio of $1M would be the same amount in both examples.
Question 2: By going with example 1, aren't I just losing money in the process on taxes if this is a taxable account? If the goal is to live off the dividend and not sell shares, then what was the point of buying dividend funds for all of those years, and paying taxes, only to never sell those shares that I already paid taxes on? Doesn't that mean I paid taxes on money I'll never use?
Question 2a: I guess in example 2 it would be the same thing since I would sell VOO, pay taxes on my entire gain and then roll that over to SCHD and DGRO. In both scenarios I paid a ton of taxes on the $1M portfolio just to leave the shares there and never sell. If I went with example 2, and only sold VOO shares when needed, then I paid a lot less in yearly dividend taxes, and I'm only paying taxes on the amount I need each year. Wouldn't this have saved me a ton in the long run by letting the price appreciate and paying the least amount of taxes each year?
Question 3: If question 1 is correct in that buying SCHD and DGRO now would lead to a larger annual dividend later vs example 2, then shouldn't I do this in a Traditional IRA to avoid those yearly taxes if the goal is to not sell shares? That way when I'm taxed on the dividends, it's only the yearly dividends I'm getting at that point and not all of the dividends over the years?
Question 3a: If question 1 is not correct, and in both scenarios I now have $1M and the yearly dividend is the same, then does it really matter which option I chose? If in a taxable account, I think example 1 would be more tax efficient because with example 2, I would sell all my VOO, pay taxes on the full gain, and then switch to dividends. In example 1, I only paid taxes on yearly dividends, but not price appreciation like in example 2. If in a Traditional or Roth IRA, I think example 2 makes sense unless the dividend is higher going with example 1.
I hope this made sense, and apologize for the questions. The more I think about it the more I'm confusing myself. I guess the main factors are 1) is this a taxable account or retirement account and 2) does going with example 1 lead to larger annual dividends even though the total portfolio amount is the same. If anyone has done this research and figured this out I would really appreciate the help!

2024.05.21 16:27 piotrek13031 Perception can be reality

Imagine two people neeting. One will be depressed the other not, based on the way their think, their spirit, who they identify with etc... It's an abomination to cope and create false realities to functions, normies do that. The desire is for having the right perception of reality whatever it is, and that's the love for Truth. Far too many arrogantly claim that their perception is real, they will say oh I am a loser neet, and they are so pride in being a loser, so deluded in their identity that they do not even try to break out of it, they do not even question if this is the correct Identity, they do not ask Why? It's a self enslavement. Let me give you this example, imagine two people becoming homeless in a city, one goes from closter to closter calling people and someone offers him to stay, he goes out finds connection, speaks to strangers gets a job, and in a very short period of time he is financially stable. While the other wollows in despair, and if you even suggest for example him reaching out to closters he will say: heh they will not take me. You can say but why not try? And he might mock you. It's the spiritual enslavement of oneself. The mind can play tricks and find excuses, rationalizations for why something cannot be done because an action is unpleasant. What if I told you that getting what you want is possible but the only thing stopping you is your own willfull enslavement. You could for example if you neet just without a care look for the strangest jobs possible, if you live with your parents, technically you could start a board of directors on LinkedIn apply to a bank and buy a business. I can already imagine the copes coming impossible etc... but they make no sense, it's easy to expose it by asking why not try? If one were honest with oneself it's because it's to unpleasant or they have no interest and that's fine, but the coping with impossible is false. You have to understand something about this reality, for many perception is reality. If you larp as rich, aka have one nice suit, borrow a watch or something and you go outside people will think you are well of but you might live with your parents in the basement. I am not advocating for it or saying it is good, but it's an example of how ones own identity of being poor prevents one from acting a certain way.

2024.05.21 16:27 Decembersveryown7 When should I follow up?

I applied for a job on April 18... heard back to schedule a phone interview for April 26.. then got asked to do a final in-person interview on May 2nd that was scheduled for May 14th. I completed the in-person interview and did extremely well.. the hiring manager gave me his business card Incase I had any questions. I also had someone from the company look at my LinkedIn page who isn't HR or a part of the hiring process/interview. 4 hours after my last interview I followed up with a simple yet effective thank you email indicating my passion to work with them as well as thanking them again for their time and consideration.. I also told them if they had any follow up questions to not hesitate to reach out to me. The only timeline they gave me during the interview is that the person they selected would start July 1st... and I should've asked about a clean timeline as to when I'd know if I would be selected or not. It's been a week and I haven't heard anything.. rule of thumb is 1-2 weeks.. but I'm wondering if I should follow up tomorrow and ask for a more transparent timeline. I'm not in desperation for a new job but I truly want this role and to work for this organization as I feel it's a perfect match.. what do you all make of this? Does it sound like I have a good chance? When should I follow up again? What would you say?

2024.05.21 16:25 Guilty_Jellyfish7858 Me and My Partner are Wondering What Dog Breed We Should Get

We'd love to get some info on what you think the best dog breed would be for us, as we're not entirely sure yet, any input is more than welcome. Also, sorry in advance for the amount of stuff i typed down, i saw that i was supposed to be specific, so i was, again, sorry. And thank you! **What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?** * Honestly, I think we both love any kind of dog, but, i'll try to be more specific. I know that we both like retrievers, like the golden retriever and the labrador retriever, as they seem like the perfect blend of playful and friendly. We also really like spitz type dog breeds, like the shiba inu for example, this one is because, at least in my expirience, they seems like really intelligent, loyal and also kind of affectionate breeds once they get to know you better, plus, the shiba inu is pretty independent as well, which i think is a good thing since we both work full time jobs, allthough she leaves her workplace slightly earlier than me, about 30 minutes before i do. We also both have expirience with mutts, as we both grew up with family mutts when we were younger, and at least in our expirience, we both think that they tend to be very affectionate, and also incredibly hyper dogs. **What role is your dog expected to fill and how do you envision your dog fulfilling that role?** * I think the role i would like them to feel would just as a companion dog, you know, go on walks, run, play, bond, and all that jazz. That's pretty much it really, i'm sorry i can't be more specific but that's really all that we want lmao. **What experience do you have owning dogs? How about training dogs?** Have you been the primary caregiver of a dog before? If yes, what breed(s)? What is your experience with puppy or senior dog care? * As I've mentioned before, yes, I have had expirience taking care of dogs, as has my partner, i for one, have had 3 dogs during my life time, which can be sad depending on how you look at it, but the first dog lived all her happy doggo life, she was an amazing dog, but the second one, unfortunatly, had cancer, which again, unfortunatly was caught way too late, my family has a third dog now, which they still currently do. Allthough, as far as training goes, that's actually where I'm not as expirienced, since my first dog was from when i was but a child, and when i actually grew up to know that i was supposed to train her, she was already trained, i tried to train the second one, which seemed to be working, but again, things happen, and the one that my family currently has, I don't have much of a bond with, since I moved out 3 months after we got him. Anyway as far as being a primary caregiver, nope, I've never been the primary caregiver of a dog before, that's true for us both. In terms of what dog breeds we owned, the first one was a mutt, allthoug im pretty sure she was something of a chihuahua or something like that, since she was very small, but she was the sweetest little pupper so, yeah. The second one was a shiba inu, which i suspect might have had some golden retriever in him, but i'm really not sure, just a hunch, the third one is a husky. As for my partner, she's had a shiba inu as her first dog and a mutt as her second. **Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets?** If so, what breed/type, age, and sex are they? * Maybe a cat, we have talked about it, and we thought that it might be easier for them to get along if they were both introduced to each other at an early age, but that's not really something we're sure about right now, but for the sake of the argument, let's say that yeah, a cat. **Do you have children or are you planning on having children? Do you often have children as visitors, such as nieces, nephews, cousins, or friends' children?** * No we do not have children, but we plan to have children in the future, maybe in about 3 years, as we have always dreamed of starting a family. We also do get our fair bit of visitors, but also not thaaaat often, maybe a couple times a week or once a month, depends really. **Do you rent or will you be renting in the future? If so, what breed or weight restrictions are on your lease?** What type of building do you rent (condo, apartment, high-rise apartment, townhome, single-family home, etc)? * We are currently renting an apartment, i'd think we live in a fairly big apartment, not huge but, big i'd say. As far as i know the landlord doesn't really care what breed we have as long as it's not too loud as not to disturb the neighbours, which i get, honestly. **Who lives in your household and who will be responsible for taking care of the dog?** How do the other members of the household feel about having a new dog? * As of now, only me and my partner live in this household, and we're both gonna be responsible for it, and im pretty sure we're both giddy with excitement over getting a new pupper. As for as future kids, i mean, what kid doesn't like a friendly and playful doggo? **How often do you have visitors to your home?** * As i've mentioned, a fair bit, a couple times a week or sometimes once a month if evveryone's busy or something. **Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a knowledgeable and reputable breeder?** * I wouldn't mind a rescue honestly, but my partner isn't so sure about that one, so we both agreed we would want to go through the process of finding a good breeder. Maybe one day we'll rescue one though, but as far of right now, she'd rather have a dog from that's still a puppy, since she wants to have the expirience of seeing the pupper grow up, which i can understand, and am fine with. **Do you want a puppy, a young adult (1-3 years), an adult, or a senior? Why?** * As I've mentioned before, we'd want to get a puppy, as we want to see the puppy grow up, and have that expirience, since, like i said before, we were never the primary caregiver of the puppers we did have while growing up. **What size dog are you looking for?** [Here is a size chart for your convenience.](http://i.imgur.com/vnz3usJ.jpg) * After we saw the chart, we'd want a dog that would be taller or equal to a corgi, or at least that's what the dog looked like to us on the chart. **How much barking is too much barking?** * You know the kind of dog that once they hear something outside, they go into a frenzy and don't shut up for the next excruciating minutes, that would be too much barking, obviously, most dogs are going to bark, that's only natural for them, but i'd rather ot have a dog would not shut up no matter what for hours on end basically, for the convenience of our neighbours. **How much regular brushing are you willing to do?** * That's not really an issue for us really, for some reason we both like brushing the dogs, at least for me, it's just really calming and brings me to a meditative like state which is quite pleasant, so yeah. But i'd say that like once or twice a week, as we do like dog with smooth coats, don't know why, but maybe because of the kind of dogs we had while we grew up. **How much shedding do you think you can handle?** Some breeds of dogs shed more than others. Some breeds don't shed, but require trimming or other coat maintenance instead. * I'd say we can tolerate a moderate amount of shedding, it's only expected, and we're not allergic to dogs in any way. but i'd also like to not go crazy cleaning everything and all the time, cause that would get old really fast, so yeah, moderate to low shedding would be ideal. **Are you open to trimming your dog's hair, cleaning ears, clipping nails, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?** * Yes to both questions. **How do you feel about slobber? What about farts?** * Slobber is fine mostly i guess, somewhat gross i guess, too many farts are a no-no for my partner as she and her family have this crazy sensitive nose, and she will gag if it's a frequent thing. **How eager-to-please or independent do you want your dog to be?** * Both are great personality traits to have, but maybe a mix of both i guess. Though i guess if i had to choose it would be eager to please but, again we both work, so maybe a mix of the two would be ideal. **What sorts of training do you want your adult dog to have?** * i guess like positive reinforcement, obedience training or whatever it's called, socializing, leash training when we're walking around the streets, behavioral training if necessary of course, ya know, the usual. **Is there any behavior you can’t accommodate?** * Well i guess this is a pretty straight forward answer, but yeah, aggression. I'm well aware no dog is inherintly aggressive and it depends on the way the owners train him and all, but I'd rather we have a dog that's just not as likely to be aggressive because, eventhough we have had dogs before, we were never really the ones that took care of them, so, i don't know i guess im kinda afraid that i'll mess the puppy up, or i'll do a mistake and bam now he's super aggressive. Maybe it's a irrational for me to think like that but yeah, it is what it is. **How important is being able to let your dog roam off-leash in an unfenced area?** * Fairly important, i'd say that's a quality for a dog to do so, since I did grow up in a village and, so far, all my dogs we're allowed to walk off leash for at least a good while, and they were fine, obviously we're now in a city and that's just not gonna fly but i'd like to let him roam a little when we're hiking or, idk in a dog park or something. **How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What kinds of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly?** * Well me and my partner as basically always available after 4 PM, so, yeah, i'd say we'd be able to easily give him exercise for like 4 hours, as we're both pretty active people. **How long do you have to devote to mental stimulation each day?** * Good question, i'm not interely sure how much mental stimulation they would need but i'd guess around an hour or like two would be good, but anyway that's all a guess, i'd try my best to give the dog all the physical and mental stimulation it would need, as would my partner. **Where will the dog be kept when alone and where will the dog sleep?** * At our apartment, and he would be able to sleep in our room, not necessarily in our bed, but in our room i guess. **How often and for how long will the dog be left alone?** * 4 days a week for 8 hours straight, since my partner does have an 8-4 job, and i have a regular 9-5, but we do have a holiday one day of the week, so yeah, weekends are also available of course. **If needed, could you hire a dog walker, pay for doggy day care, or come home during lunch to take care of your dog?** * Not really no, we would be able to come home during lunch as that's what we do anyway, as for the dog walker and all that, maybe sometimes? Definatly not all the time though. **What is the general location in which you live?** You can decline to answer, but responses will likely assume you’re somewhere in the US without breed-specific legislation (BSL). * We live in Portugal. **What is the average temperature of a typical summer day where you live? A typical winter day?** Please indicate Celsius or Fahrenheit and the climate of places you may likely live in the future. * Depends, but in the summer it seems to be around 20°C (68°F) to 30°C(86°F), but i've seen it get even higher like 50ºC, that was one time really. In the winter the average temperature would be around 8°C (46°F) to 16°C(61°F), but again i've seen it be a little lower. **On a scale of 1 to 10, how prepared are you to care for a dog and prioritize its well-being over your career, entertainment, or other life choices for the next 12 or more years?** * I can't say were 100% prepared, as I'm pretty sure we'd be considered begginner dog owners, but i'd say we are at least 7 out of 10 prepared, as far as knowledge and willing to prioritaze or doggo. **Are you aware of the costs associated with dog ownership on an average annual basis? Have you budgeted for additional emergency veterinary care and/or pet insuranc3?** * Absolutely, that's rookie level critical thinking, of course we're well aware of the costs, and are more than prepared for them, as we've been saving up for a couple years, and we both have relatively good pay, so we won't run out of coal so to say, as in, we have our savings for the doggo if an emergency were to happen that we for some reason couldn't budget with our salaries each month, but we'd say we'd be able to budget the salaries for the doggo.
