2024.05.21 20:00 2ndgenDub Turn signal problem

I got a 1984 Chevy k20 getting fixed of up for a guy wants to get all the lights working. I have no turn signals in the front or rear checked fuses all good got power at the purple wire at the switch. I had to replace all the wiring all the way down the frame was to rotted out all new wire and bulbs got brake lights now. Also the flashers don’t work either I replaced the turn signal switch still same thing am I missing anything. Could it be a bad flasher relay ? ps. none tilt steering wheel.
Thanks

2024.05.21 19:11 NewLexican Engineering gameplay doesn't make me feel like an engineer

Since backing SC in 2013, I've advocated that profession-based gameplay should be the cornerstone of building the player experience.
After playing the 3.23 experimental mode and watching (for the first time) the CitCon 2023 segment, I can say engineering gameplay doesn't do a thing to make me feel like an engineer.
  1. Engineering gameplay is mostly devoid of engineering principles.
  2. What seems to be the intended source of "fun" won't work at all scales.
Addressing the second point first, even watching the devs play, it seems the design is leaning into the idea of frenetic action, bouncing from crisis to crisis, being a driver of "fun." On a larger, multi-deck ship like a Hercules, this design can deliver. But what happens to the frenetic feeling on smaller ships like a Connie or Freelancer where moving from crisis to crisis means walking a few meters or simply turning your body a little?
Returning to the first point, with repairing ship components - Resource Management would be a topic for another discussion - CIG has delivered Barotrauma's gameplay in a spaceship. Instead of using a magic wrench to fight flooding and repair equipment in a submarine, we have a magic pistol to fight fires and repair equipment in a spaceship.
Back in 2021, I authored a post on the importance of authentic-feeling profession-based gameplay in which I deconstructed and rebuilt mining as an example. If the mining gameplay mechanic had instead been introduced as part of hacking gameplay - siphoning data off a network while keeping the data flow rate high enough to finish in time but low enough to not alert intrusion detection systems - nobody would have questioned it. Nothing about mining gameplay makes it feel specific to working on large rocks.
Now, like rocks, ship components are non-descript containers filled with numbers, and repairing them entails no more than pointing a magic beam that improves the health number. Where's the engineering?
Instead, imagine if ship components had two, three, or four printed circuit boards (like your computer's motherboard) in them. Conductive lines, called traces, connect bobs and doodads that combine to fulfill some function.
The repair process would entail using the cutting tool to remove the damaged area of a board. The board is scanned, and a mobile 3D printer - maybe a couple of levitating dinner plate-sized discs - prints a replacement patch and inserts the bobs and doodads. The engineer affixes the patch, which fuses into place. They then use an extruder attachment on the multitool - think a plumber's caulking gun - to fill conductive RMC in groves that indicate the trace locations.
Simple enough that doing routine maintenance doesn't become drudgery while being involved enough that performing it in a stressful situation is non-trivial.
Simple additions like a curing time for the 3D-printed patch material could add more engineering flavor to a mission's story.
"Captain, engines are functional again, but I'll need to refurbish the whole thing when we get back to port if we put too much stress on them now."
Imagine now if each quadrant of a board fulfilled some function. This cluster of bobs and doodads together perform power regulation. Another cluster does signal focusing, etc. With this design, an engineer could restore partial functionality in time-sensitive situations.
"Captain, the shields are back online, but someone will have to babysit the power triangle if we run them at more than 50%."
Further, imagine if the actual layout of traces, bobs, and doodads on the board mattered in the context of simple principles: coherence and interference.
Coherence - E.g., to perform the function of power regulation, these seven bobs and doodads must be physically located near enough to one another.
Interference - Bobs, doodads, and traces all generate fields of "interference" in both electrical (current) and thermal domains. Too close proximity impacts wear and tear and can result in failures.
So, we have a tug-of-war between competing objectives on a surface with limited real estate. Factors like total trace length could impact performance, power efficiency, or whatever.
How does this design impact the player experience?
While mining a lucrative field of rocks in the upper atmosphere of a gas giant, an Orion's sensors go down. The engineer finds two traces showing overcurrent damage in adjacent locations on board #3. Repairs are made, but forty minutes later, another failure. More precisely, the same failure. The engineer suspects something about the environment is causing an electrical arc between the two traces.
Knowing there's a lot more wealth to be mined at the planet, the captain contracts a Reliant Sen to survey the upper atmosphere of the giant. The Sen captain delivers a computer simulation of the atmosphere to the Orion's engineer who plugs it into their workbench. Testing reveals that, in this environment, the interference in the "current domain" for traces is exaggerated. So, the board layout needs to be adjusted to move the closest traces further apart; time to play tug-of-war.
Engineering gameplay that makes you feel like an engineer...
For me, too much of too many profession-based systems is being abstracted at too high a level to deliver engaging gameplay. Moreover, abstraction at a high level means the universe lacks fundamental structures that can tie different professions, and players, together.
Imagine in our gas giant example, if the failure wasn't caused by forty minutes of accumulated electrical damage, but by waves of high-energy particles arriving in 40-minute intervals. The Sen pilot may want to investigate the source of the particles, but she'll need an engineer's solution for her ship first. Furthermore, an Orion crew member may think to ask, "If these particles are wrecking our equipment, what are they doing to our bodies?"
Miners, engineers, scientists, and doctors all writing their personal chapters in a larger, authentic, and connected story.

Any ideas why power wire keeps shorting out?
I’ve had a car audio system in my cars for about 10 years now and have never experienced this. Only until I switched to this power wire. Cheap Amazon (prob the issue) 4AWG “OFC” (but most definitely CCA) with a 250A fuse. Second time it’s burnt up like this. First was a gouge in the wire shorting out to metal on car. I have since fixed that issue and now roughly 2 months later it’s happened again. I ran the power wire in its entirety. No cuts, gouges, nothing. Just bad power wire or is it something else? I will be upgrading wiring regardless but was wondering if this could be fixed and get me through until then. Or if you guys have any input on a further issue. Thanks in advance! Setup is 2 12 inch Rockford Punch P3 wired in parallel to a Rockford Prime 500x1 mono amp. I had a Capacitor installed beforehand but took that out as I thought that was my original issue, before I saw the power wire burnt up. Car is a 2022 Chevy Malibu Premier. Have had this setup installed in it since May of 22 when I bought the car new. No issues at all until this.

2024.05.21 17:14 ACExLONDON21 !! Pls Help!!2011 f150 xtr

Hey guys! I’ve recently hopped fence from Chevy, I bought an 11 f150 xtr with a 5.0, I love the truck absolutely it’s an amazing unit. However the stereo doesn’t work, and it’s frustrating as it was working when I bought it, so the clock light keeps flashing and the stereo won’t turn on, I hit the power button and the clock stops flashing for a second then continues to do so, I did some research and apparently this is a common problem with these trucks, so I changed all the fuses related to the stereo head unit, sync, and all that good stuff, 5 fuses in total, that did nothing, and then I watched a video of someone smacking it and that fixed his( the comments had alot of folks saying they did the same) and it worked but that hasn’t worked with mine, I’m wondering if y’all good people of the ford community have any suggestions or advice on how I can fix this asap? (Stock stereo wise) if I can’t fix it I’ll change it over to a new deck, thank y’all kindly!

I'm looking at buying a new (2020-2025), or used (Maybe 2020-2024) SUV, but I know nothing about vehicles. I have a good idea of what I want, however.
I've put the basic feature in bold, and more details after to make it easier to read. tl;dr at the bottom.
Maybe a hybrid? I'm willing to pay a little ($1-3k?) more for a hybrid if it meets my other needs. I don't have anything against them, but I know they're typically more expensive.
My needs:
My wants:
From my own research, I think I'm looking for a small to mid-sized SUV, and I've heard good things about the CR-V. I've also driven a 2016 (I think) Chevy Equinox and liked how it handled.
tl;dr: Safe, decent cargo room, good MPG, possible hybrid, automatic, back-up cam, cheap to maintain and insure, for less than USD$33k (Hybrid) or USD$30k (Non-hybrid) in KS, USA. Mostly (Very hilly) city, occasional 3 hour highway trips, sometimes dirt and gravel roads.

2024.05.20 22:12 Vivid-Bed8453 Worst Warranty Experience of my life

Worst Warranty Experience of my life
It all started about two months ago. My Camaro blew its starter, but since I have an extended warranty I towed it to a Chevy dealer.
First issue, the finance manager who sold me the warranty messed up the paperwork. I had to go back and forth between both dealers to get the actual coverage I signed up for, pure negligence.
Second issue, once I got my warranty reinstated, the warranty company then said my issue was pre-existing to the upgrade (NO SHXT). Thankfully after another week of back and forth, the dealer who sold me the warranty said they’ll just pay for my repair because of their negligence.
Third issue, they started on my car a week after they got the OK to repair. THEN, they stripped my exhaust manifold bolts that bolt right into the motors head. The vehicle got sent to a machine shop and sat there for another week and a half.
Fourth issue, once they got my vehicle back they blew my fuse box which delayed repairs for quite literally another week.
No joke I just got my car back after two months, for a 3-4 hour repair. What the fxck did I just go through. Here’s my 2SS though!!

2024.05.19 00:40 Financial-Sink-8654 Truck doesnt crank

Ive got a 95 chevy c1500 with a 305 and a 5 speed trans. Truck doesn't crank or anything, the dash lights come on, I checked the battery and it's good. I can roll the truck down a hill and pop the clutch and it starts just fine. Checked the starter and its still good. Ive constant power from the battery and the signal wire gets voltage from the ignition, i installed a temporary ground from the starter to the battery and didnt change anything. I was messing around with the ignition and it arced on one of the wires going into the key switch so I bought a new ignition complete with harness and still havent solved the issue. All the fuses and and relays in the panel under the hood are good and the ones in the cab are good. Forgot to mention I also jumped the switch for the clutch pedal and that didn't fix it either

2024.05.18 22:32 EarlofSanchwich Just Joined The Club

Hey Everyone!
Yesterday I traded in my 2019 bolt for a 2024 Blazer EV LT AWD. Figured I'd share my deal and thoughts.
I knew that due to the stop loss Chevy would be willing to give a good deal on these to get them off dealer lots and I was right. Massive incentives.
MSRP on my LT was just over 51k (new pricing after stop-sale). I traded in my 2019 bolt EV, that I had bought out when my lease ended. Every non-chevy dealer wanted to give me 9k for my car but I still owed like 15k so I didn't want to carry that negative equity into a new lease.
My Chevy dealer took my car, gave me 13k for it and applied the incentives to cover the difference so in a nutshell:
-Traded in my 2019 bolt EV (60k miles) clean trade with nothing due. -Leased a 2024 Blazer EV LT AWD -36 month lease, 12k miles per year, $0 down, $0 due at signing, and they covered the first months payment. $475/mo. for 35 months.
Some of the incentives I received -Ultium promise cash -Bolt EV bonus -Costco member -Chevy loyalty
Brought the price down to just over 40k.
The Blazer LT has every feature my bolt premier had and surprisingly a lot more, except the digital rearview mirror. The interior is such an upgrade over the bolt. It feels very nice and the dashboard, oh my god, that dashboard. Beautiful screens with really modern and pleasing layout. It's bigger but not giant SUV big and it's quick for being a larger car and I even get a little range bump (258 to 279) All in all, really pleased and happy to join the club. Just ordered my floor mats and center console tray.

I walked through the expansive halls of the UECNS Nemesis, a sense of awe at what I was seeing. While I was not alone, since plenty of the Venlil were still inside, making last minute checkups on the cargo freighter attaché, it was amazing to think that I was the first human to stand in this vessel in over twelve-hundred years. The layout of everything seemed built to our specifications, and it felt like uncovering something that shouldn't exist. But exist it did.
I wonder if Red One thought the same about another humanity in the multiverse?
Nevertheless, despite the initial hiccups with some utterly terrified Venlil engineers offending the hell out of Red One for some slight, nothing had gone wrong with the rest. Clearly, being here long enough had pushed the sense of fear out of most of the Venlil, enough to do their work without feeling overwhelmed whenever her 'scarabs' came in.
Speaking of such...
There was one right now, just climbing up a wall at about my head level to work on some exposed piece of machinery. While it looked very busy, and likely didn't need to be interrupted, I still had the unbridled urge to touch it. It wouldn't harm it, right?
Why did I want to touch it?! Curiosity?
I walked over to it, my hand halting a foot or so from it for a moment, but I eventually mustered up the courage to touch it. It...it was lukewarm to the touch, smooth, metal....
...and clearly not meant to be touched.
It immediately erupted in a loud alarm, vibrating as if trying to shake off my hand. I pulled away in alarm, thinking best to not...uh...aggravate it? Were these directly controlled by Red, or automated?
"Care to tell me why exactly you're touching my repair drones?" Her voice came from the walls with a vaguely bewildered tone.
Shit. Uh...
I tried to deflect, but nothing came to mind. "Well, uh...um...I just...uh...kindawantedtotouchit."
Silence greeted my response. "But-but I just thought it looked cute! And I-oh, I am not making a good case here, I'm so sorry if I damaged-"
"Are you telling me you want to pet it?" She sounded amused at my intent. You!....hmmmmph.
"...Yes. I had an urge to pet the thing. I mean look at it! It's like a big ladybug! It's oddly cute."
Red One hummed for a split second over the wall speakers to me. "Despite your urge being harmless and funny, the drone is busy at the moment, so please leave it alone. I'll just give you one if you're so inclined later, with less of the lethal tools attached."
"Wait, the what?"
"Forget that, Hailey. I wish to ask you something more serious currently..." The tone of the room changed immensely between those two sentences, a lighthearted feeling prior clearly making way for something worrying her. "Will...humanity accept me? I've killed so many, even if it was an accident. I've frightened both you and your allies merely by existing. And on top of this, I know that humanity has always had a general feeling of unease about artificial life. Your media, your literature, philosophy, are all in the distant past compared to when I was made, and I've no clue how exactly different our histories are enough to guess. The United Nations never lasted this long in my reality." A pause took to the room.
"Do I deserve to shut myself down?"
Oh dear, that's a hard question to answer.
I thought for a solid second. I know the reception to reveal Nemesis was mixed back on Earth. While there was a near-unanimous thanks for saving Earth with her intervention, there were still the ships and crews of both the Venlil and humanity that she destroyed. Those families were not taking their loss well. Added onto that, Red One was an artificial intelligence. There has been a ton of discussion even in the deep past about the dangers of AI, that continued even to this day. While Red One was no paperclip-maximizer, she was designed and built for war, and tempered by over 1200 years of it. She might not even intentionally mean to be dangerous, but might interpret things badly.
After all, she already has, and now nine thousand humans are dead for it...Could I trust her to not do it again?
"I...I don't know Red. I sincerely hope they'll see the good in your actions, and should you talk about your mistake, perhaps you'll be at the minimum sympathetically understood, if not forgiven."
Red One had no body besides the ship to speak of. She had no unintentional body language interpretable to humans. She was, for all intent and purposes, unreadable to me. But, I had the oddest sense that Red One was afraid. Afraid of being judged, afraid of her actions, their consequences. She clearly cared for our input, our point of view on the situation. Why else would she ask?
It was that thought converged onto a point that broke my contention:
Since when should a warship be built to fear?
Even if she was built for war, even if she was built with emotions to start, she wouldn't likely be built to fear. She was capable of being more than what her humanity created her to be if she could feel the fear of our judgement, despite being so much weaker than her; she cared, and that was all that it took for me to conclude on it.
I started out loud again.
+CONFED IO.5+
+READING MAIN SEQ.MEM+
Hailey spoke again. "Red. Even should there be people that disapprove of your actions, that fear or despise you, you would still deserve to live. You deserve that chance, even with your mistake."
She was wrong. Wrong. I didn't deserve to stand once again with humanity for such a failure again.
Yasmine spoke again in my thoughts, her words boiling and painful. "You deserve judgement. A final judgement. You promised to protect us, and you failed. You promised to avenge us, and you failed."
I couldn't help but puppet it back to Hailey, as scathing as they were to hear. "I failed to protect humanity. I took their lives, nine-thousand dead from aimless wrath..."
Hailey shook her head vicariously. "No! Red, listen to me! It was a mistake! People make mistakes, both big and small. While you may never be forgiven by those close to the lives lost in your actions, you can take solace in the fact that you have saved hundreds of millions of lives!"
"But you're not people, Red. You're an AI. You're a weapon. A Wound in the side of The Compact. You swore it as your sole duty, in vengeance. A weapon that makes such a mistake is faulty...a faulty weapon is destroyed."
Yasmine's words hurt more than any other. Her trust she had in me alive now betrayed, now to know only in death. How much of a disappointment, a failure my actions were.
"I'm...not a person...Hailey...I'm an AI...a weapon..." Server racks hummed in pain, in knowing the catastrophic failure of my duty. It didn't matter how far out of my hands it was, it still happened. Now, so many of my creators were killed by my actions.
"Like all AI have been, you are no different."
Hailey touched the wall once again, before reaching for the repair drone. It wanted to signal alarm again, to claw away at whatever held it, but I stopped its every movement. I couldn't dare raise another action against a human, I couldn't harm them. I-
She held it firmly but gently in her hands. She stroked the top of the scarab, warm skin running down the cool metallic shell of the scarab. She intended to pet it. I was not the drone itself, but I felt as it felt, knew as it knew, slaved to my control. It...
It was comforting. To know their touch beyond the tickle of the halls with her walk. Beyond the aspect of her presence being so forgotten amongst my body, despite it being made for her and humanity.
"Red. You were made for war. Built, designed, hardened in war for a thousand years and then some. Your form speaks it..." Hailey hummed. "But your voice...your emotions...your anxieties. They are not the hallmarks of a warship. They were likely not designed in you, but came into being nevertheless. You are capable of being more than you are designed for. But even if they were, it doesn't change the fact: you are a person to me, Red. Maybe even to your creators. I wish I could've met them. I wish I could've met your crew, your captain, your people. But even if I cannot, I can meet you in their stead as a person. I will treat you like a person. And by God, I will make Earth do so too."
It was a cold shock that ran through my databases. I...I hadn't...hadn't seen such care since...
Since Yasmine. Since Sansbury. Since my crew lived. Since they cared, and talked, and spoke, and played with me, to bide the time and pass the hours.
I felt an ugly emotion well up within. Seep into every circuit, every function of my being. It was mourning. Mourning like that for my crew, for my creators. But in a way, it was not. It was an oddly new grief.
For that mourning was for what I had lost. For what was taken from me. But this...this mourning was from what was never given in the first place.
The galaxy of my reality despised me. I was shunned, hated, called abomination for merely existing. I was assumed to be hostile and genocidal on principle. But I never harbored those thoughts, they were thrust upon me by fearful races, looking to past AI failures as broadcasts for my behavior. Even though I wished the The Compact of Species reduced to cosmic dust, I held nothing personal for those that made it up, only their intent to continue it. Though I bombarded countless worlds, and killed uncountable numbers of aliens in my +promise+, their extinction was not my goal, only my vengeance.
I did not yet know emotion before my awakening upon humanity's pyre. I had no idea how much love and care my crew held for me in detail. They clearly cared, but my memories did not reflect the capacity for empathic imprinting at the time. But this...in this moment, I could reflect her care. I could feel it, not in retrospect, but in the now.
She cared.
Hailey wished the best for me. This humanity that knew the fortune of barely escaping its light being snuffed out, and still burned with a light bright in hope. It still burned not to retaliate for the slight, but instead to further its goal, its dream: of peace. I never knew such care in such close detail, such a hope to see me better. Maybe I could change...
...The only way I'll know is to live to see it.
Yasmine's presence faded from my thoughts. It could no longer hold under such an onslaught. Was it even her ghost to begin with? Or just fear?
With a hesitation I hadn't felt in cycles uncountable, I responded back.
"I'll...trust your judgement, Hailey Whitmer."
She smiled, and I again felt unfamiliar emotions from so long ago. Protective instincts and dulled happiness filled the gaps between the mourning of the ships and crews I killed.
Was I wrong to feel both of these? Did I deserve to feel more than wrath, sadness, and guilt?
"Good." Hailey said. She placed the drone back on the wall ledge it had perched upon. I released my grip on its system, and let it return to its duties. "I hope that made sense to you-huh?"
Her communicator vibrated, a signal coming through from Lithke aboard the Snow Hidden. I could hear it through her, their encryption not yet fully uncovered by me, but the sound clearly enough to my sensitive mechanical ears aboard the ship.
"Hailey, report back to Snow Hidden. The prey captain wishes to speak with you." I already knew what he wished to speak of, even now I heard a hundred different conversations throughout and outside of me, all speaking of the near completion of the cargo freighters' attachments.
As Hailey excused herself, and I guided her to an exit point by which the Snow Hidden could pick her up, I was alone with my thoughts in silence for a moment. The Venlil did not need my help with the finishing touches, nor did they really desire to talk to me in most circumstances. It left me in a relative quiet to consider one though.
Did I deserve to live for my actions?
I felt the vessels fused to my hull, acting as temporary propulsion in lieu of lacking functional ones. Their tiny frames relative to my own, still positioned optimally to act in place of engines. I knew they were my ticket to Earth. If this humanity wished for me to journey back, whether for a celebration or a verdict...
...There's only one way to find out.
Memory transcription subject: Second Submissive Specific Advisor Lithke, Arxur Dominion 6th Sector Fleet
Date [standardized human time]: October 23, 2136
Hailey Whitmer returned not long after I called her back to the ship. The Venlil captain, wanting nothing to do with me, asked for her instead. I didn't want anything to do with the weak prey creature either, so it works out for both of us. As she spoke in the back communicator to the Venlil task group sent here, I began a conversation of my own.
I intended to talk with the UECNS Nemesis again. I know she hadn't seen the wisdom of the Prophet's Word, but I had confidence that, if I couldn't convince it of the merits, then I could at least direct them to Chief Hunter Isif.
When I had initially brought up my conversations with Red One to the Chief Hunter, he was somewhat bewildered, but also interested in her philosophy. I see he also realized the hidden potential behind such a vessel realizing the Great Prophet's Word, and told me to talk to the AI again, to have the ship sent his way when it was convenient to speak with them. Imagine if the AI shared it's knowledge forged from a thousand years of war, so much death and strife caused by its claws. It would know revolutionary methods of breaking and cowing inferior prey before us.
I believed in his ability to better describe the necessities of inflicted cruelty and deprivation to better temper the self more than I. After all, he was an honored Chief Hunter, ruler of the 6th Sector Fleet, and I a mere Advisor, Submissive no less!...
But it did not mean I wouldn't try to sink my teeth a second time.
So, I found myself in the command chair of the small craft that was the Snow Hidden, pinging to the UECNS Nemesis in hopes she would feel fit to converse once again. I wished to speak with her again. To convince her.
My hails were finally answered, and on a secure call, her avatar appeared on screen. Unlike last time, she made no attempt to hide her nature, her form shimmering monotone red in the facsimile of a captain long dead spoke in a voice just as monotone. "Lithke. To what do I owe the pleasure...?"
My tongue circled in my mouth, as I anticipated the conversation ahead. "Ah, Red One, so good to see you once again. I wanted to talk with you." My tail lashed. "I have not been allowed on the ship in the fear of terrorizing the prey. It's a shame I cannot scare them in person, but it seems I already am at a distance."
She looked nonplussed by my comment. "Uh huh. Came just to check in, or...?"
"I was getting to that, Red One. No, I wished to return back to our conversation we had a while back. The one concerning the Great Prophet's Word, and how you thought its philosophy twisted into a method of control."
She remained silent, so I continued. "I had a talk with Chief Hunter Isif in response to your conjectures. He figured that the way to dissuade you of them was to talk about the structure of Arxur society, such that you can see there isn't room for exploitation of such nature." While her outward expression didn't noticeably change, it was as if her eyes gleamed so subtly at the prompt.
"Alright, I'll bite. Tell me more of your...society, Lithke."
+CONFED IO.5+
+READING MAIN SEQ.MEM+
Lithke began with a discussion about the nature of how the distinctions of power were divided in The Arxur Dominion. How the power was hereditary top-down rule from a Prophet-Descendent, and how Betterment acted within it.
At first mention, I had assumed his talk of nobility made some odd reflection of the Principality's Synods and Houses, akin to the old British Empire, but I was thoroughly dissuaded by the immensely authoritarian lean of the government policies. This was no "fast and loose" respect of local cultures like the Principality played with, but a systemic and brutal attempt to squash anything that went against their Faith in the Great Prophet, and Betterment's total party domination. No, this was more akin to a successful Nazi Germany or Khmer Rogue, with a horrific religious lean.
Even The Compact's methods didn't seem so comically evil in comparison. The Arxur relished a system of cruelty and religious fervor to propagate it at this rate.
But it was just my luck that I dealt with a Compact of Species-lite, and a state of ruthless starving zealot autocrats. Why did I even hope for better allies to humanity? And this Chief Hunter Isif wanted me to know of such a government? Was he a blind fool for thinking this would somehow convince me to-
-Wait a minute...
I thought for a moment, before proceeding to ask Lithke a question that was bugging me. "Lithke? The upper nobility of The Dominion. What are their lives like?"
"What do you mean? Do you mean their routine and responsibilities? Because I am unsure in my lower place."
"No, their life, as in, how they live. Do they live lives of subjective hedonism, enjoying the fruits of your labor?"
Lithke looked horrified at that. "No! Of course not! To laze about, in a life free of struggle would make them fat and weak. They would disappoint the Great Prophet's vision. No, they too seek perfect form as we do, in a life defined by hunger and strife to better the body and soul."
A much worse idea was starting to come to mind, one utterly dystopic in form.
The Compact was full of semi-religious ideation. The Triarchs were seen as far wiser than any other race, capable of seeing deep past the bias and flaws of client races, and deriving meaning and wisdom even in the most complicated situations. But they were merely a figurehead image imposed over a species, one that The Compact put their unshakable faith in. Mere flesh and blood like the others, they were not infallible, even as carefully cultivated their image was. I could attest to that.
But if the Dominion idealized the Great Prophet figure, was it a class regulator ceiling like the dreamed dystopias of George Orwell, or Aaimiya Hadi? The Great Prophet was an ideal, not an accountable person, that knew all there was to know about perfection. He held the reigns, he kept the vision, but he was not physical in the way a ruler was, free from the consequences. If the Great Prophet was their Big Brother figure, keeping a close watch on all within society, even those at the very top...
It was possible the Arxur all suffered a vicious and cruel life. Even the Prophet-Descendants were not free of such ideological tyranny.
It came to a point in my circuits. The Arxur fleet that helped Earth would not just do it out of the kindness of their hearts. Kindness was antithetical in their society, a societal disruption likely stomped out wherever it kicked up. That they would even help humanity more spoke of pragmatic reasons, they would get something out of it. But what could humanity give them, that the Dominion couldn't already achieve on their own...unless...?
Unless the point wasn't what The Dominion could get, but rather what it couldn't give them: an escape.
What if the fleet that came here wasn't entirely representing The Dominion ideals by those that controlled it. What if this...Chief Hunter Isif was the stomped-upon societal disruption?
He wouldn't be able to say it out loud, in fear his government's loyal agents would report his dissent back. He wanted me to know, so he could talk to me...and he was merely using Lithke as a deniable probe of my ideology, looking for a like-minded individual.
I could be wrong, it could just be conjectures, knowing how inane this universe was at first glance. But just in case, I decided to play ball.
"Lithke...you've been quite enlightening so far.. However, I am soon to launch the plan to get me back to Earth, according to all the chatter I'm hearing elsewhere, and will have to bring this conversation to a stop." Lithke looked dejected at that, his urge to continue wholesale telling me of the Dominion clearly disrupted by such a statement. "But... I would like to speak to your Chief Hunter Isif when I eventually make it back to Earth. Could you set that up for me?"
Lithke's eyes widened. Perhaps he thought something was getting through. I wouldn't dissuade his little fantasy for now. It could perhaps be torn apart later, but I would rather get to the bottom of this potential lead on The Dominion's actions in Sol.
"I will do so, Red One. Lithke out."
And just like that, the feed cut. That game could perhaps be continued later, but now, I turned my attention to what should come next. Ignition.
I will be home soon, humanity. I can only hope Hailey's trust was not misplaced.

2024.05.18 11:03 GarageAromatic8878 NX500 Accessories plug

NX500 Accessories plug
I'm having this post for anyone interested to mount accessories on the NX500, so at least they don't run into the same problems I did. In the pre-NX models, there was a single fuse after the main key switch which fused both the left fairing plug for the 12V socket, and the right fairing plug for heated grips/fog lights. Some models even had a third plug (same type as for the 12V plug) under the seat.
Now, I went to look on MaRis for the electrical diagram for my bike, but entered the general model, not the VIN. Sure enough, the same layout, though without the underseat connector, but with a strange thing: the 2 pin options plug was on the right side of the schematic, which it would indicate that it is in the rear of the bike. I just thought it was maybe a mistake and moved on.
Sure enough I got myself the sumitomo hm090 2 pin connectors and made a Y splitter for the left fairing plug. One for the 12V socket, one for the fog lights. After some 1000km of riding, the fog lights died. I did measure the running current of the lights as being around 3.7A, so I swapped the 15A fuse of the lights that came in the package to a 5A one. Which would obviously be less than the 10A one of the bike and would trip earlier, saving my 12V plug, at least. The 5A fuse was intact, same for the bike's 10A one. I thought that my Y splitter was the culprit so I went ahead to disassemble the bike. To my surprise, the OEM plug of the bike didn't have any voltage. I thought that maybe the bike's wiring was fried up, or maybe water ingress leading to corrosion, or whatever. Tracing the wiring, I saw that there's another violet-red wire, with a 3A fuse, in the other fuse box from where I was looking. It was labeled "OP" and the other 10A one was labeled "ACC". Sure enough, I pulled the fuse and it was blown. That meant that I had to wire up my fog lights to the other plug.
Disassembling the other side of the bike(and trust me, it is no fun with crash bars and handguards installed) I found the 4 pin plug, which wasn't the same as the sumitomo hm090 plug!! After searching online and finding nothing and then loads of cursing, I went ahead and tried something. I had some of those automotive AMP connectors, and the thickness and width of the actual pin was actually perfect for the female one in the OEM plug. The only thing was that the retaining clip didn't bite in the pin's cutout. Cutting some excess and bending the pin's body to have something for the connector's plastic clip to bite into, made the fit just perfect! And even the length is just right as the seal fits right at the end of the connector. Wired a long lead to the rear of the bike where I have the lights controller, which I fitted the hm090 connector to have easy access in case I need to disconnect them, or may I need to plug anything else in there.
TL;DR Beware that Honda changed the wiring of NX500 adding a second 3A fuse for the 12V socket. If you want to hook any non-oem accessories, you have to use the right 10A-fused under-fairing connector, but I didn't find the type of the connector and pins. You can use generic automotive AMP weatherproof pins with a bit of modifying.
I hope this helps you!

2024.05.18 01:50 1autopsy Finally Broke Free of Relying on Civilization to Revamp my cities.. feels like I have more creative freedom now to mod

Civilization had me in a CHOKEHOLD literally lol. I could/would not get rid of it from my LO. It’s just too easy to download one mod that revamps all of the cities(Does a beautiful Job at that) + add new ones.
With that being said, I decided to take the long and tedious route of putting together a mod list from scratch.. a few city overhaul mods that stood out to me while testing are -
Red Bags Solitude (it has a patch for civilization as well, I’m not using civ in this test).
I love the layout of this..It makes the inside of solitude feel like a real bustling great city. As far as the outskirts leading out of the city/to the city..it’s taking some getting used to. I miss the architectural clutteThis IS the Great city of SOLITUDE feeling from civilization. I only felt that way once I left outside of Solitude’s main gate. Besides that 10/10 for me.
The great city of winterhold ( the new one that’s made of stone) I want to try this.. is it compatible with the EEE camp in winterhold?
Jk Interiors
I never really cared for interiors, 9-10 I’m in and out anyway.. but this actually increased the immersion.. still having trouble finding the right placement in my LO. Consistent Crashing in Whiterun walking up to the dragon’s reach door area.
Edit- FIXED^ I was missing patches. Dont use the Jk interiors/Window shaders patch.
I’ll post the area edit/End of Lo section at the end of this post.
Red bags Falkreath
Baby where have you been all of my Skyrim Life? I’m mad I just now learned about this mod. 10/10
Now for the end of LO help needed. Specifically where to place jk interiors. I have USSEP , Swf framework & the full reconciliation suite in that order at the very top.
Bells of Skyrim
Jk interiors AiO
Obscure scholarship bundle

Ancient winterhold( edit - after further testing the jarls house is fused with the vanilla farmhouse style. So basically it’s a wide farm house with ancient stone textures in the center of it) looks goofy imo so I swapped it out for COTN Winterhold
Winterhold deep sea ruins
Hold border guards anniversary
JK’s Whiterun outskirts & hold boarder patch
Ryns farms aio

My main reason for swapping out civilization. The EEE camp conflicts/grows into Winterhold’s blacksmith area, Dawnstar Dock area, I haven’t advanced riften’s or solitude’s camps yet. The starter EEE Camps don’t look like they’ll be an issue.

2024.05.17 18:24 OneTimeRed Test drove the 2024 Traverse RS AWD

Just want to share my experience of test driving and looking to purchase the top of the range 2024 Traverse RS AWD. I have been waiting patiently for this model to drop. I originally wanted to get the grand highlander platinum max but none were available in my area at MSRP and im still on a wait list. I have crossed shopped this with GH, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride and Honda Pilot to give you an idea. So going into this I was looking forward to Traverse addressing all the short comings of the other models.
Some of my my non-negotiable list was.
  1. must have power folding side mirrors.
  2. twin exhaust
  3. two seat memory settings.
  4. wireless android auto and apple car play
  5. hp power
  6. leather seats
  7. moonroof
  8. overall look good
  9. autonomous driving
  10. 3 rows and cargo space.
The stage was set. My first impression when I first saw the SUV i was in love! It look big, bold and beautiful. Best looking in mid size class. I opened the doors and closed them it had that nice chevy thump loved it. The tech I loved it. The layout of everything I love it. Now comes the test drive. So initial startup sounded good. The ride was very comfortable. Now the moment of truth. I have test drove the Grand Highlander hybrid and I loved how the hybrid power comes on car when you put your foot down. It feels like its electric like a tesla and you get smooth power delivery and you quickly get up to speed nicely. The traverse when I floored it, it made this horrible sound that comes right through the cabin and its so obnoxious you just can't ignore it. Its like the elephant in the room and for a $58,300 + taxes and you want to impress your family and friends they are going to bring it up that horrible, horrendous sound. Just to test that engine sound I did a quick speed test 3 more times and it felt like it was going to die on me anytime. I think Toyota did a good job introducing the hybrid fist in the line up then adding the turbos on top of the range. Looks like GM tuned the Traverse aggressively to get you that 330hp and to make it a point that its not to far off the GHPM and your saving 6k. I guess i am going to sit this one model yr out and check back when someone has done 60k -85k driving to see how the engine and turbos hold up. I feel like they should have just put in the 2.7l turbo from the Colorado or gave it a hybrid option. Feels like Chevy played it safe by keeping it ICE and no hybrid so less things can go wrong with it. Something valuable I learnt from my test drive, engine sound is now on my non-negotiable list.

2024.05.16 07:07 Kazanna 2008 Chevy Colorado Brake Light Issues

Vehicle: 2008 Chevy Colorado LT 3.7L
Issue: Brake Lights 1 and 2 do not light up, Brake light 3 Lights up.
Attempted Fixes: Swapped the bulbs, Fuses, Switch under the dash, checked the ground, used a multimeter to check the wiring from stem to stern.
What I've found: Looking under the dash, I found the wiring plug for what I think is the Brake Position Sensor. Problem is, I can't find that sensor to save my life. I know where it should be on every model besides mine, but I can't find any pictures, diagrams, or video online to show me where mine should be. The cord is hanging loose and I am unable to locate where it needs to plug in. I found several forums for other vehicles where people have discussed this, but I just don't know where its supposed to be on my truck.
The part it should plug into is the Brake Pedal Position Sensor - GM (25912943), I cant seem to find this on my truck.
The cord is a box with a 3 port purple receiver with a thumb switch.

Opinions on 1997 Chevy 1500 4x4
I’m looking to buy this 1997 Chevy 1500 4x4. It has 227k miles, new brakes, new rockers. I couldn’t get the radio to work idk if it’s a wiring issue or a fuse. Can someone with more knowledge than I tell me what motor this has in it? Also, what’s a realistic number of miles this truck could last? The guys wants $1,500 for it. What’s everyone’s opinion on this? Thank you for your time!

*Sorry, the title was supposed to say "Just found this community, and now I'm going to show off" but obviously something happened.....
Hello!!
While looking for this years fireworks stuff, I found this community. YAY! Makes me excited! So here is a layout of last years display. This year, I want to go bigger: programming with music and lasers.
My brother-in-law usually starts things out by hand lighting some fireworks for a bit, then we switch over to my display. I have a 12 shot wireless system. Usually have about 11 cakes and fountains (not shown) each on their own button, then #12 starts the grand finale.
The grand finale starts with a slow (fuse is about 12.5 s/f) 24 shot straight up board (8 rows of 4) of consumer shells with a 200g cake or fountain at the end of each row of 4. Next is a 15 shot fan rack (5 rows of 3) of consumer shells, where here I started with a .3- 1 s/f fuse from the middle out, then 2 s/f fuse for the rest. Then on to the 45 shot straight up board (7 rows of 5) of consumer shells, set up like the 25 shot, with the exception of the last 10 shots with 6 s/f fuse. The last 5 rows you'll see 3" shells, a single shot straight up instead of cakes.
Things start to get more exciting with the 72 shot fan rack (12 rows of 6) of consumer shells. The fist 36 are fused at about 6 s/f and the last 36 are fused at about 2 s/f. Then we send off the show with a barrage of 3" shells on a 30 shot fan rack (6 rows of 5) where the first 25 are fused at 1.5 s/f and the last row are all set to go off at the same time, as well with as another 4 shot 3" shell fan rack (2 x 2).
I am not fan of (and I am not dissing anybody's backyard displays, this is really for the professional shows) the grand finales with the multiple shots that go straight up. With all the colors mixing, I feel you just end up with a blur. With my slow shot boards, as soon as one explodes the next fires, so going straight up is fine. When you get into the barrages and fanning them out, it really fills up the sky with beautiful color!
For the consumer shells, I use a mixture of cheapo balls and more expensive canisters (my wife only allows me a limited budget, lol). 99% color, very few salutes. The cheapos stay in the straight up while I reserve the canisters for the fans. For the 3" shells, everything is color except the 4 in the 2 x 2 fan rack, those are my only large salutes. My wife does not like salutes much, so I limit them Hope you enjoy the photos!
Oh yeah, all of the grand finale is fused from one rack to the other, set off by the #12 button.

Payment methods accepted: Venmo, Zelle, Money Order

timestamp
  • APPLE WATCH. pic 1 pic 2 I thought it'd be fun to be one of those annoying hipsters that lets everyone know they have an apple watch. No, not that apple watch, the original apple watch. It was fun. Now it's time for someone else to enjoy being the obonxious hispter guy of their friend group. Works but needs a fresh battery. TV $40 / SV $25.
  • sold Seiko SNE331. pic pic 2. These are really nice. Very slim, has solar, and I think the face looks awesome. This is a very lightly used one I bought as a back-up to my user. The only signs of wear I see are a tiny ding by 8 o clock and the strap is rounded from sitting in my watch case around one of those round pad things. These look great with a black sailcoth strap which is what my user has. This one has the stock strap, box, tags, etc. TV $90 / SV $75
  • Casio G shock square. pic. I'm a big fan of the old school 5200. I bought a few different colors over the years but always end up wearing the regular black version more. This one was worn less than 5 times after being purchased new. Misplaced the tin it came in though. TV $75 / SV $60.
  • withdrawn Casio casioak blacked out. pic. User. Works great. TV $55 / SV $45
  • Citizen chrono watch. pic pic 2 pic 3 This was the most expensive watch I bought myself. Bought new for around $220. Decided I'm more of a $40 gshock kind of guy and got out of watches before I got into omegas and shit, yay me. I don't recall the reference number and seem to have misplaced the box (I'll keep looking, I know I have it around here somewhere.) I think it was part of their chandler field watch line. Has a nice OD green strap with reinforced holes. Eco drive solar function works great. Top of the body shows very little wear.....some very fine hairline scratches if you hold it right up to your eyeballs, looks new from typical "I'm checking the time" distance. Nice watch, just a little too nice for me. TV $140 / SV $100
  • sold Suunto Core. pic. Great outdoor watch. Gently used. Has box and five spare batteries. Was really into Stargate for a time and buying this was easier than tracking down a Vector, lol. TV $100 / SV $80
  • Szanto 3 pack. pic. These are nice rugged watches that look good IMO. Two pilot watches and a field watch with date window. Two have upgraded aftermarket straps. All have lume that's decent. All three are in good working order but will need fresh batteries. Take the lot for TV $60 SV $50.
  • MWC combo. pic. pic 2 pic 3 The watch on the left is a very high end model with tritium, 300m water resist etc. But it has an unknown issue. May need a replacement movement. I bought it used and it worked great but then stopped. Replaced battery, worked great, stopped again. Never got around to sending it in for repair. The one on the right was purchased new direct from MWC and runs perfect. I upgraded to a black strap with glow stitching. Come with box, tin, COA, stock silver nato style strap etc. Normal retail on these is around $350 for the black, $75 for the gray. Take both for TV $100 / SV $75.
  • SOG Seal Pup Elite. pic 1 pic 2. Purchased used. Put a fresh edge on it. Purchased new sheath direct from SOG. Not the most pristine looking knife here but plenty of life left. TV $50 / SV $45
  • spf Queen Big Boy Trapper. pic 1 (victorinox spartan for size reference) pic 2. Unused. Minor markings on bolsters from being in knife drawer. Made in USA. TV $45 SV $30.
  • Gear Aid fixies. pic. Unused. Came in some bushcraft subscription box I got for xmas. Add one of these to any purchase for $5, or take them both for $20 shipped.
  • Survivor fixed blade. pic free to anyone that wants it that purchases something else
  • SPF SOCP Knockoff / clone. pic. Tried it to see if an SOCP would make a good CCW addition. These knives just don't work for my hand size. TV $20 / SV $10.
  • Sold Cheap watch bundle. pic. Timex & Casio. All work except the casio on far left needs a battery Take the lot for $35 shipped.
  • Victorinox serrated Spartan. pic 1 pic 2 Gently used. Main blade cut one or two things, still very sharp. Don't recall using any tools, factory lube still visible on them. Factory edges on both blades. Cosmetic scratches on scales from being in storage. TV $25 / SV $20
  • SPF Leatherman Fuse Combo. pic 1 pic 2. This is for both tools and the pocket clip. I used to be into modding Leatherman tools to make custom tool layouts. I had plans for modding the black one with different tools and adding a pocket clip from a wave + I never got around to finishing. One tool pivot is loosened up on each of these as I was experimenting on adding the clip etc. Every tool is in good shape, works well, blades are very sharp and look like factory edge etc. They'll need to be re-tightened or something before use. Selling them as is, no sheaths for either, again pocket clip is included. TV $60 / SV $45 for everything pictured.
  • Spyderco Pacific Salt NIB. pic 1 pic 2. NIB Pacific Salt 1 PE satin blade with screw pivot and rounded clip, meaning it was a later run. TV $100 / SV $80
  • TRADED Spyderco Aqua Salt. pic 1 pic 2 pic 3 This is one of the best knives ever made. Only reason I'm selling this is I talked myself into being ok with owning 5 of them instead of 6. I picked my least used user to post for sale. This one was picked up from a seconds sale where they sold without sheaths. Luckily I had an extra sheath I bought previously. These are incredibly tough, incredibly light, rust proof and killer cutters with a thin, coarse edge. My most used fixed blade model over the last 20 years, they can fill any role from bushcraft to hiking to fishing to diving. TV $140 / SV $120
  • Cold Steel Pre-GSM Spike. pic 1 pic 2 Unused. TV $30 / SV $19
  • Cold Steel Frenzy. pic 1 pic 2 NIB blue S35VN version. Backup to my user. TV $110 / SV $94
  • withdrawn Cold Steel Pre-GSM SRK. pic 1 pic 2 SK5. Unused. withdrawn.
  • spf Cold Steel American Lawman. pic 1 pic 2 I bought this off here and sharpened it up and carried it a few times. Amazingly thin and light in the pocket, carries incredibly. Cuts well and took a great edge. Only reason I'm selling it, is I find it a little small for my grip. This is the current S35VN version with a nice DLC finish. TV $80 / SV $69 ;) ;)
  • Cold Steel Code 4. pic 1 pic 2. Great knife that carries very well like the Lawman. Bought it here, gave it an edge since it came butter knife dull, and carried it twice. I prefer the slightly bigger Recon 1. Unmarked blade steel so I would guess this is the older AUS version. TV $50 / SV $40
  • SOLD Kabar TDI combo. pic 1 pic 2. The smaller one is in good shape. Was sharpened because the factory edge was absolute garbage. Sheath clip shows some carry wear. Large one is ugly but still cuts. I used it to practice reprofiling on my belt sander and scratched it up pretty good. Note I lost the straps for the sheath. Take both for TV $50 / SV $35
TRADE INTERESTS
  • ESEE knives. Particularly a 3D scaled 3 and a Sencillo, but I'll consider any of their models.
  • Cold Steel Recon XL's.
  • Cold Steel Recon 1's.
  • Bushcrafty fixed blades
  • Spyderco Chinooks (any gen)
  • Spyderco Catcherman
  • Spyderco Police 3's
  • Choppers & machetes
  • shark watches (no leash, clip only)
  • sharpening stuff (prefer diamonds and ceramics to stones that need flattening fyi)
  • Kitchen knives
  • Outdoors gear (Currently ISO extra long hammock + net)
Not interested in folders with blades under 4"

2024.05.14 12:56 Neither-Drag-8564 Fuses Labeled "VBAT," what is run on those circuits?

Fuses Labeled
2024 Chevy Trailblazer.
Looking for options to hardwire a dashcam and will need both accessory and constant power (parking mode). I don't want to tap into critical circuits and the manual does not describe the half a dozen fuses labeled "VBAT" which might be the only ones available for constant power. What systems are on those circuits? They're not ones you'd want to tap right?
I'm also having a hard time reliability testing for constant power because power come on to everything in this box when the driver door is open (necessary to check those fuses). So if anyone has some tips for working around that I'm all ears.
