I hope nobody else is doing this. And I hope you enjoy it because this is not going to be a regular occurrence. This season of German football was just too good to not write up. So let’s go over some storylines.
Bayer Leverkusen: 50. Fucking. Matches. Unbeaten. Do you realize how impressive that is? The fact that it was Never-kusen to do it is insane. Mostly down to Xavi Alonso being the next elite manager. He completely changed the Bayer team. Grimaldo, Frimpong, Wirtz, Boniface, Stanisic, Schick, Tapsoba. The building blocks of a title winning team. Congrats, boys, you saved German football. If you win this treble, it will be one of the greatest stories in football history. You ended the Bayern monopoly after years of stagnation. The goal now will be to keep the gang together. Alonso has already thwarted attempts for Bayern, Liverpool, and Madrid to sign him. The squad remains the big question. It’s not about whether key players will be sold, it’s about which ones.
Stuttgart: The amount of times I’ve double taked on 2nd place is comical. This team was fighting relegation last season. They only survived because they won the pro-rel playoff. Now they’re playing Champions League football next campaign. Guirassy surely was the story of the season. Deniz Undav regained his spot with Streets Won't Forget FC after his redemption campaign. Jee Woo-Yeong was a rock in midfield. Alex Nubel kept the ball out of the next making him a prime candidate as the next great German goalkeeper. More credit is due to their manager, Sebastian Hoeneß. Yes I Googled his name and copy and pasted it. The man got this team into the Champions League, a massive achievement for this club. A brilliant mind like that surely warrants a payday. Please don't let him get poached by Bayern.
Bayern Munich: An absolutely appalling season by the standards set in previous regimes. You have to understand, though. This Bayern was COOKED from the start. Thomas Tuchel bitched and moaned about Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka's uselessness in a double pivot. He wanted a new No. 6. In the end, the Bayern board decided to use all their transfer funds on Harry Kane. The ROI on that move has been as advertised, with Kane only posting his best statistical season ever. The downside: Bayern went trophyless. You are reading that correctly. Not only that, they finished 3rd. Tuchel beefed with key players like Matthjs de Ligt and Kim Minjae. Injuries to guys like Gnabry and Coman also crippled the depth. Leroy Sane proved to be good strictly in the Champions League. Alphonso Davies was great but non-committal on his future in Munich. Eric Dier was brought in on loan and became a critical player in the second half of the season. Yes, that Eric Dier. It's now Kingsley Coman's first season without a league title since 2014. The Champions League could've been great, had it not been been for some fishy calls made in Real Madrid's favor in the semis, but it was not an elite team. Now they must truly rebuild, and first step is finding Tuchel's replacement. Which...nobody seems too keen on taking this job. The expectations are too high, and the rebuild is just too massive. You feel stupid for sacking Julian Nagelsmann now?
RB Leipzig: It was a growing year for the Red Bulls after bringing in so many new faces. Xavi Simons, Lois Openda, and Benjamin Sesko certainly excite but they are highly inconsistent. Openda still posted 24 goals across the season, with Sesko adding 14. Simons with 11 asissts was massive. Defensively, they were much more sound. Willy Orban managed to lock down the backline, finally. Mohamed Siamakan took large strides forward. Benjamin Heinrichs cemented himself as one of the lowkey ballers in Europe. The problem still remains doing it for longer. They were constantly hovering between 5th and 4th this season, and luckily results picked up at the back-end of the season to cement another season of European football. Marco Rose bought himself another season, where hopefully he will be able to shape the team to his liking. Stalwarts like Dani Olmo and Youssef Poulson might be moved on to generate funds. Leipzig clearly has ambitions now that the Bayern monopoly is on life support.
Dortmund: This team is a goddam headache. What the hell do you mean they made the Champions League Final and beat PSG convincingly to get there? Dortmund did that indeed. Their league form has been absolutely mid. They can string together some results but clearly lack the guile necessary to mount a title challenge. Or even a Pokal contention. But this is the current holder of the Vibes FC badge. Julian Brandt was the driving force of this team. He only had 15 goal involvements all season, but his passing was critical to set up the play. Niklas Fullkrug capitalized on his newfound status as the leader at the top. Gregor Kobel backstopped an otherwise leaky defense made up of aging Mats Hummels and the fat version of Niklas Sule. Jadon Sancho got exiled from Manchester United and came home. He wasn't the 20 and 20 player but he showed glimpses. Karim Adeyemi also took massive strides forward. Other standouts include Jamie Bynoe-Gittens becoming the next English player to develop abroad. Even if you don't win the UCL final, you managed to get Germany the 5th UCL qualifying spot.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Frankfurt's problems can boil down to a very simple reason: no real replacements. They lost Kolo Muani, Lindstrom, N'Dicka, and Kamada all in one summer window. The biggest loss was Oliver Glasner stepping down last year. Yet, they managed to get back into Europa League. Omar Marmoush only potted 12 goals across the season. The rest of it came down to collective effort. Ansgar Knauff showed some potential but is still too raw. Mario Gotze is still here and was already slowing down last year. This campaign all but confirmed it. Robin Koch fled the relegation of Leeds United to return to the German national team as their lead defender and a national team call-up. Kevin Trapp is still managing to keep himself under the radar but was still important for Frankfurt's fortunes. Dino Toppmöller deserves praise for this coaching job. Now the question will be is can he do it again?
Hoffenheim: Congrats, boys, you're going back to Europe. The Conference League should be an ample test of your mettle and growth as a club. But who are we kidding? For those who don't know, Hoffeheim are one of the few German clubs that benefit from a wealthy owner. 50+1 always has loopholes, and Deitmar Hopp has been willing to spend to get his club back into the big time. It hasn't worked to the extent some might hope, but it is indeed progress. A 32-year-old Andrej Kramaric was one of their standout players, and a mentor for young striker Max Beier. Both posted 14-goal seasons, enough to carry Hoffenheim up the table. USMNT fans got to watch the John Brooks redemption story. There were times where this team was outclassed by lesser opponents, though. Doesn't spell good for the next season.
Heidenheim: Bayer Leverkusen were the feel-good story of the season, but honorable mention goes to Heidenheim. Winning both the 3rd and 2nd division title is nice and all, but the Bundesliga is not the lower tiers. It's all good, though. A solid mix of German vets and young players created a hungry squad with a point to prove. Most would say a 2. Bundesliga club should focus solely on survival. Heidenheim said fuck that, let's shoot for a European spot. They just barely missed out but this is a massive step forward. Please for the love of all that is holy capitalize on the moment.
Werder Bremen: The club image restoration campaign continues. Werder is a former Bundesliga champion that has dropped to such a low they were in the 2. Liga just a few seasons ago. Since then they had relied on Niklas Fullkrug to carry them to survival. This latest finish is a massive improvement. Now without Fullkrug, they are carried by a rag tag group of German, Danish, Belgian, and American players. Ninth place will at least be a building block to getting back to cultural and football relevance. I wouldn't expect them to suddenly be a contender, though.
Freiburg: Christian Streich is usually applauded for the work he has done to keep Freiburg afloat in the top flight. This was another fruitful season, even if it seems anti-climatic. They had multiple players put 7 goals or more. Vincenzo Grifo was the top scorer, a midfielder, but added 8 helpers in addition. What more is there to say? The club is still fighting for its return to European competition after a pretty brutal time in the Europa gulag. Congrats, boys, you are now the West Ham of Germany.
Augsburg: Sorry you had to be Leverkusen's whipping boys on the final matchday, but someone had to be sacrificed for the Invincible run. Augsburg should feel lucky they finished 11th. 15 losses usually spells trouble, but they were rescued by clutch scoring from Ermedin Demirovic. It's better than previous seasons but don't you feel just a little bad about getting rid of Ricardo Pepi now? He won the Dutch league title with PSV. I don't know, you could've used him.
Wolfsburg: You know how Tree says "Detroit channeled a rear-ended Pinto?" Wolfsburg channeled a rear-ended Golf. It was an incredibly hot-and-cold season, which I guess should be expected when you employ Ralph Hassenhuttl as your manager. Yes, that Ralph Hassenhuttl, the man singlehandedly responsible for Southampton's relegation. Nico Kovacs was steering the ship into the abyss, and was promptly canned at the right moment. Replacing him with Ralph didn't improve anything. One day Wolfsburg would do something cool like beat Leipzig. The next they would lose to Union Berlin. Last season, Wolfsburg was just a few points outside a European spot. Now you've entered hell: mid-table.
Mainz: Bo Henriksen is at least trying to build something at Mainz. It was clearly not going to be easy. When you lose 4-1 to Union Berlin on the second matchday, that spells trouble. They did managed to get some decent results, but they were Bayern's punching ball one March day. 8-1...fucking hell (stoppppp! he's already dead!!). You managed to avoid the drop so I guess that's progress. You have an exciting young forward in Jonathan Berkhardt, and decent defensive stability with Sepp van de Berg and Philip Mwene. Don't get too excited, you have a long way to go before you're back at the big kids table.
Gladbach: There was a time when Gladbach were punching into European football. It's not this season, because this was a dumpster fire. Had Mainz not collected one more draw, Gladbach would've finished higher on goal difference. Which is -11...woof. The team lacked any defensive cohesion, and could barely string together a good run of form. Most times they had to keep rescuing themselves in squeaky bum time. USMNT fans won't want to hear it but Jordan Pefok and Joe Scally are not beating the mid allegations. Pefok only scored 5 goals. Scally still doesn't look like a legitimate starting right back. The legend of Julian Wiegl continues as he amassed ten yellow cards in a single season. They're a pretty young team so there is time to improve, but this is a real mess.
Union Berlin: The curse of the Champions League struck Union Berlin with a fiery vengeance. It is not unfair to say they were incredibly underprepared for the gauntlet that is elite European football. Almost all of the moves they made backfired. Bringing in Leonardo Bonucci for UCL experience only to find he was washed. He got exiled to the Turkish league for his fraudulent crimes. Brenden Aaronson was loaned in after he too fled relegation of Leeds United. He put up 4 goal involvements in one season...Medford Messi my ass. Roben Gosens was somehow the top scorer. He's a fullback. The honeymoon is over. It really took them until the final matchday to survive. That late penalty against Freiburg saved them for the drop. Good, you survived. Now don't fall off like that again. Your fans can be incredibly proud of you, considering you look way better than Hertha.
Bochum: Yea about what you expect with this club. They're a German yo-yo club. Yes, they do indeed exist. Sure, they still have a chance to stay up with pro-rel playoff coming up, but I don't expect much ever. Take your annual triumph over Bayern and get the fuck out. Getting absolutely bodied by Leverkusen to cement their title was a courtesy to you. Don't lose that playoff.
FC Koln: You guys fucking suck. I thought for sure Koln would at least put up more of a fight after getting promoted last season. Only collecting five wins?? FIVE? This is a goddam travesty playing out in real time. Yo-yo club status cemented. Given what I saw you'd be lucky to get back in to the top flight after this season.
Darmstadt: Darmstadt had two major problems that hindered their season. They couldn't defend, and they couldn't score. Double whammy if you ask me. Somehow you make teams look like Real Madrid. You got some wins over your relegation rivals. Take what you can, I guess. I think the 2. Liga is probably more your speed, though.

I have a chick on Telegram trying to scam me for Steam/razer gold card. She asked for 2 - 50$ cards first thing. She thinks I'm buying them now. Address is vacant and Google lens says it's some random chick from TikTok. I might be able to keep her on for a day or more. I'm definitely playing dumb...

My best friend from elementary through high school and I had a falling out our last year of college. We went to different schools and were setting up to have very different lives, so I think we would have naturally fallen apart, but I cut her off for a few reasons:

1. She told me what to do when my parents divorced, although I told her I wouldn’t tell her the full story because it was not mine to tell. She also pressured me into talking about the divorce (it was bad) before I was ready.
   
2. I felt that she never listened to me and steamrolled over me when it came to my own opinions.
   
3. I was always the one to reach out and initiate/plan our encounters, or even just to talk with her.
   

I told her these things, to which she got defensive and started gaslighting me, so I cut her out. I didn’t initiate contact, which naturally led to our relationship dying, and when she initiated I was receptive but did not plan or suggest planning anything.
The only negative thing I think I did was delete a comment she made on an old picture on FaceBook of us, something about wishing we were still friends, because it was public and my family asked me about it, so I got embarrassed and deleted it. I replied to her privately and told her to message me a time that worked for her so we could Skype (I was in another country at that point). She never replied. That was almost 10 years ago.
Eventually I removed her on everything — not blocked, just removed — because I didn’t want to be tempted to look her up and didn’t want her looking me up. I also removed her family, so they couldn’t contact me on her behalf (which happened once when I initially cut her out).
Now, she reached out a week after my birthday, with a follow request on Instagram. Her mom reached out to my mom (they are still friends) and said my old friend wanted to wish me a happy birthday and asked for my phone number. I told my mom not to give out my phone number, that my old friend had reached out on Instagram, and that I would talk to her through that if I wanted to, which is a message my mom passed on to the other mom.
I talked to my therapist about the whole thing, our friendship and breakup and everything, and she told me to think about what I would want for closure… I am in no hurry to answer her, so I looked up the definition of closure and did some Google research on closure, but I still don’t have an answer.
I do feel bad about how it ended, but I also don’t particularly want to rekindle friendship. I’m curious as to why she reached out at all, after all this time, as we’re vastly different people now (her Instagram is open to the public so I looked).
I was diagnosed with Autism almost four years ago, and my life is much better now. I realized she never really knew me, because I was so heavily masked. I wonder if my undiagnosed Autism played a role in how it all turned out…
I plan to continue working with my therapist, but I would like to hear more opinions, and I’m not comfortable sharing all the details with my current friends, so I ask you, Reddit…
In my situation, what would you do? What would closure look like for you in this case? If you’ve been in a similar situation, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I have a 13-inch, 2020 MacBook Pro
1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 - Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB - 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
This MacBook has been absolutely fine up until a few months ago, where it started to overheat at the slightest use.
All I use this laptop for is browsing the internet, checking emails, watching YouTube videos and chatting to friends on Discord. I don't have anything else installed. No apps, no games, nothing. I don't even have very many files, as I use Google Drive for notes/photo storage etc.
For what this laptop should be capable of, I am baffled as to why it is overheating so drastically at such light use.
Before this I had a MacBook Air that handled so much more. I was a student and so was heavily using photoshop, indesign, premiere pro etc. I stored all my school work on it, all my photos, and I even regularly played games such as The Sims. It rarely overheated, and if it did it at least made sense as to why.
I have no ida what's going on with this laptop. I have tried so many suggestions from the internet but nothing changes it. The fans start up pretty much the second I open the laptop and after 15 minutes it's too hot to use.
I've even done a full factory reset, and it hasn't solved the issue.
Any suggestions?

I like hiking, and the mountain isn’t dangerous if you’ve known what you were doing since you were a child. I found it once, but I ran immediately, because I didn’t want to risk angering the dragon. I think I can find it again, but it’ll be a long trip. Three days at minimum.

A few days wandering in the forest should discourage her, maybe I can even convince her I didn’t burn any village. {confused} Why would she have been told… {moving on} Doesn’t matter right now. What matters is getting her off my trail, and maybe getting to know her in the meantime… {upset} No! Stop that! Bad Typhon! She’s literally trying to kill you. She is not a prospective mate, she isn’t even another dragon!

All of this, though… brings us back to you. You were sent here, presumably because you’re the kingdom’s best knight, the one with the highest chance of victory. You weren’t given any backup because there’s only one Fangbane. And you were fed a lie about me slaughtering innocents to make the job go down easier, but something in you knew that it was a lie. Tell me, am I hitting the mark with these?
So, my question becomes… why didn’t you? You had me at the point of your blade, and with a sword like that and skills like yours, you could’ve done it. If you wanted me dead, I would be, draconic magic and might notwithstanding. Instead, all I have is a scratch on my snout- {venomous} yes, that is the scar on my nose. Threats on your life, on your body, on those you protect, promises of execution, forcing you to stain your soul against your will… no. No one is permitted to harm my human and live. This will, I admit, be something of a first for dragonkind, actually killing humans instead of protecting them is practically unheard of. I may even face repercussions from my kind for this. I find it hard to care, though, these ones are only getting what they deserve, for their actions or their complacence.
Now you’re getting upset again. {soothing} Don’t worry, this isn’t a sign of my outlook changing. I still have no desire to harm humans, and the village is perfectly safe.

Hi! I’m a GM in Forest Hill, SE London, hosting a group interested in weird indie RPGs.
The goal is to experience a wide variety of strange tabletop roleplaying games, sometimes just for one session, sometimes in short campaigns. Newbies and veterans equally welcome. Over the last two years we played twelve different RPGs, and there are many more on our watchlist.
Games you play in silence. Games where you draw on a blank page. Games where you move miniatures on a battlegrid. Games where you rotate control of the characters. Games where there are no characters. Games where everyone dies at the end. Games with deep original settings. Games that are about creating a setting. Games that are light and fluffy. Games that are dark and depressing. Games that are light and fluffy and dark and depressing.
We play on Friday evenings. Weekly in theory, but lately it’s been more like monthly as my group has shrunk a bit and it’s gotten hard to get the numbers together. Hoping to fix that.
Because it’s a lot of one-shots, there’s no commitment to come every session; I put up a calendar poll every month and we figure out when and what to play based on everyone’s availabilities and preferences.

Intro: For your distinguished service to the crown, you’ve been assigned the difficult and dangerous job of slaying a dragon purported to have slaughtered a village on the outskirts of the kingdom. It’s a job you should be able to handle, and you’re not too scared… now, if only the whole thing felt less wrong…
Summary: Listener meets a new acquaintance who befriends him, and offers to guide him where he needs to go. They face a danger together, and he learns that she is not what she seems.

I like hiking, and the mountain isn’t dangerous if you’ve known what you were doing since you were a child. I found it once, but I ran immediately, because I didn’t want to risk angering the dragon. I think I can find it again, but it’ll be a long trip. Three days at minimum.

All of this, though… brings us back to you. You were sent here, presumably because you’re the kingdom’s best knight, the one with the highest chance of victory. You weren’t given any backup because there’s only one Fangbane. And you were fed a lie about me slaughtering innocents to make the job go down easier, but something in you knew that it was a lie. Does anybody have any insight on a friend or family member that is looking to sell their house soon? I have been looking at houses for the better part of 6 months and found some really solid places, almost finalized on a couple of them, but every time I finally go to make an offer, someone has already beaten me to the punch with a pending offer, or the house has already closed on a sale. I am fairly open to any location in the Spokane area, and even fine with some areas of the Valley. I have a fairly decent budget on house hunting, but I want to get something that is actually worth the cost, not something that is price-jacked up just because it can be. I am mostly looking for something that has 1750+ sq feet and a backyard that my kid and I can play in. Preferably have 3+ bedrooms, one for me, my kid and then an additional one. The housing market here in Spokane just keeps shifting so quickly it is tough to actually mark a stake in something I am interested in, so if anybody knows someone who is thinking of selling or about to put their house on the market, I would love that insider information so I can at least google maps it first before the rest of the market. I am just looking at selling my current house because there are to many negative memories there now and its hard to stay in it.

I would like to have a music video created for my fiancée, Emily, starring her and one of our cats, Fawkes, who we helped cross the rainbow bridge in February 2023. We always get the feeling he's still here with us, watching over us, spreading his love and joy. I want to imagine what that would look like if it were indeed true. On a spiritual level, they were/are truly soulmates, and I want to create something really special for her to remember him by. These last few years have been really tough for her, and we have been abandoned/betrayed by some friends and family mainly due to drama around our caring for Fawkes.

Beginning:
Fawkes came into our lives in July 2017 from the streets after his previous owners were taken away from him a few weeks prior. We immediately brought him to the vet to get checked and tested for anything. The vet found that he was chipped and five years old. As a result, they couldn't really do much besides try to contact the previous owners. We took him home and kept him separated from our other cat, Freyja, since we did not know if he could spread anything to her. He was pretty lethargic, hardly eating, and couldn't really keep much down. We honestly thought we would wake up the next morning and he wouldn't be with us anymore. Luckily, that was not the case.
​
He wasn't doing so well the next day, so we called the vet and they had us come in again. Since the previous day, he went from over seven pounds down to about six and a half pounds. Our vet decided it was necessary to medically intervene or he was likely going to die. They hospitalized him on the spot and started giving him subcutaneous (SQ) fluids and other medications to help with his nausea and stimulate his appetite. We left him under the care of the vet and all we could do was wait to hear back. He pulled through like a champ. He was eating, moving, jumping, playing, snuggling, and loving life. It was as if he was reborn, like a phoenix from the ashes, so we named him "Fawkes" after the phoenix from Harry Potter.

Over the following years, Fawkes and Emily became pretty much inseparable. He was such a lovebug and radiated that classic "orange cat energy" wherever he went. If he wanted to get into something, he'd either find a way or keep trying until we could stop him. He absolutely LOVED belly rubs, and not once was it ever a trap (unless you felt "trapped" rubbing his belly for hours). In all the time we had him, he never hissed at, scratched, or bit (non-playfully) anyone. He just wanted to love everything and everyone he met. He didn't have any enemies in his eyes, just others who may not have cared for the level of love and joy he wanted to share.
​
Later:
Fawkes was diagnosed with stage 1 chronic kidney disease (CKD) in October 2021, which quickly progressed to stage 3 by early 2022. We were giving him medicine a few times a day, SQ fluids every couple of days, and going to the vet every other week to have his levels checked. He became a regular at the vet and even a few employees confessed to taking breaks just to go snuggle him because they loved him so much. We almost said goodbye to him in May 2022, as his symptoms were worsening and he no longer wanted to eat. He was a fighter, though, and told us he wasn't done fighting yet by finally eating on his own just as we were trying to make that difficult decision. We took him to the Animal Emergency and Referral Center (AERC) that night.
​
The vet told us that he had developed anemia and our only options were either to take him home and start end-of-life care or do a blood transfusion (which might not even work) and keep him hospitalized for a few days to be monitored. We opted for the blood transfusion. The procedure went well and we were able to come and visit him a day later, though they still had to keep him for another day or two just to be safe. We were also able to have his case looked at by a specialist, and they adjusted his meds to better suit his needs. They were estimating he maybe had a few weeks to a month or so before we ended up back where we were before the transfusion. We were now giving him less medicine a few times a day, SQ fluids every night, and going on walks through our apartment building every night before bed.
​
A few weeks became a few months, and he seemed to be doing even better than he was all of 2022 before his transfusion. We would take him on trips to Petco every week or so, so he could walk around and meet new friends. We would bring him to the park while we played Pokémon GO, even if we ended up just sitting in the car. Starting around September 2022, my boss even let me bring him to work with me on days he wanted me in the office. Vet appointments were few and far between, sometimes a couple of months apart. This pretty much continued all the way into February 2023 until we started to notice more significant symptoms again, and his CKD values were getting much worse. He didn't want to eat, he was hiding more, and he would often seek comfort by laying in his litterbox. We could tell our little warrior was ready to be done fighting.

Goodbye:
On the night of Tuesday, February 14th, 2023, Valentine's Day, we decided we couldn't make him fight for us any longer. We called our vet and made an appointment for Thursday, February 16th, 2023. We spent the whole day together on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, snuggling on the couch and finished with our nightly routine of SQ fluids and a walk. We all spent the night together on the couch, staying awake as long as we could. On Thursday, February 16th, 2023, we brought Fawkes to the vet, and he was excited to walk around and explore the new space for a short while before needing a rest. It was nice to see him perk up and act like how we remembered him to be. The doctors took him away to be prepped and brought him back after a short while. We were petting him, kissing him, and told him he was a good boy and how much we loved him as he peacefully passed. We left there with the heaviest pet carrier ever. An empty one.

Everything started for me on this subreddit when I was 19 — leagueoflegends
This subreddit taught me how to code at 19.
This subreddit brought me over 1,000,000 users for my apps at 20.
This subreddit got my first real job as a Deep Learning Engineer at 22.
This subreddit gave me a reason to keep going.
I want to tell you my story because I know a lot of people here are in college or into tech/programing stuff, and it can be a long-winding road. I hope my story helps.

"FML. I hate this major..."

In 2014 I was just another 18 year-old computer science student.
I picked computer science kinda randomly. I wasn’t sure if I’d be into it. I wasn’t that 12 year-old programming prodigy. Or that kid that had been making Minecraft servers since 14.
But, I truly loved making stuff on computers — editing videos on After Effects, making beats on Audacity, messing around with Unreal Engine, selling stuff on eBay, stuff like that.
So, I picked CS as my major.
Reality was tough though. I sucked at all aspects of programming. If you asked me to make a “for loop” I would have to literally google it every time. Everyone around me felt like a natural. I could barely do the most simple things.
I was lost, depressed, unsure of everything.

"League is cool though..."

But I knew one thing — I loved playing League. I even started the League club at my school and I was that kid that was literally always wearing League merch. My love for the the game was almost irrational.
Here I am repping my League merch back in the day.
So, I thought...
“Hey. Let me combine my two interests — computers/making stuff and League”.
So, I started thinking about making stuff for League players.

"I got an idea".

When playing League me and my friends would always listen to music.
So i got fired up about my first idea to build.
A website that would let League players listen to playlists built for specific champions. I was already doing this with my friends as a meme.
Ex. if I was playing Fiddlesticks — I would have a special playlist that “felt” like Fiddlestick’s energy with spooky halloween music, dark techno, stuff like that.
There were people who were already doing this with Spotify playlists, but, a lot of my friends didn’t have Spotify at the time so I wanted it as a stand-alone website.
I got obsessed with making the idea, and a miracle happened — I got obsessed with programming. I learned Javascript, learned how to make my first website, learned to use an API, learned to deploy a website — all in a few months.
I had support for about 30 champions on the site.
I thought okay, “that’s good enough!”

"Holy shit I have over 1M users"

I released it on this subreddit and got over 2800 upvotes.
I was so excited. I had hundreds of people hitting the site. Butttt, the site kept crashing. So, the post ended up dying.
But I was fired up — “Holy shit! I made a custom web app. All by myself. And, I had hundreds of people from around the world using it!!” I was over the moon.
I went back to the drawing board, redesigned the site/architecture, got two of my buddies to help me making playlists for the rest of the champions and launched it again.
I post it here, it blows up to 19,000 upvotes.
Over the year, it ends up getting over 1M users.
And over 100,000 people would continue using the site regularly. This massively improves my programming skills because I was getting stuff to people at scale! It wasn’t on localhost anymore.
After this, I continue making stuff + posting it on this subreddit.

Things continue spiraling as I build cool shit related to League of Legends.

• At 21 I get into Deep Learning and build a training set + algorithm to analyze League of Legends with AI ends up getting used by TSM and other teams in the LCS. Here's the Reddit post.
• At 22 I got to present it at Google. Here's the Reddit post.
• This ends up getting me my first real job at 22, where I get flown out to San Francisco to work at Mayhem (backed by Y-Combinator) where I trained models for our AI coach for people that played games. Ends up getting acquired by Niantic.
• At 23 I join another company as CTO where we built a Chrome Extension that used AI to help you find the perfect League stream to watch based on the champions you wanted to watch. I leave the company at 24, but, a year later this ends up getting acquired by Riot Games. Here's the Reddit post.
• At 24 I end up starting the company I’m at right now — buildspace, a place where people can work on their own ideas. Any idea. From tech, to art, to content, whatever. I wanted to take my learnings and make a company out of it for anyone that wanted to work on their dreams. It's free + remote. Applying takes 60s.

Hello, sorry to be another post about this subject! Our girl cat was taken to the vet this morning at around 9am to get her teeth cleaned and some extracted, and we picked her up around 3pm and got home at around 3:30. Our boy cat, who is normally just a big oaf, started hissing at her when we laid her on the towel in the living room as she was still coming out of anesthesia. He hasn't really hissed at hein general since we adopted her 4 years ago and we did the slow introduction method. Immediately after he hissed, I'm a little stressed. I start googling while my partner lays on the floor with girl cat and creates a boundary with his body around her a little bit. He's not really hissing now, just acting a little off. Girl cat is zonked and giving no reaction.
I found out about feline non recognition aggression pretty quickly, I had no idea! The last time they went for vet visits was at a pop up clinic 5 min away from us to get their boosters. We took boy cat first (30 min ordeal) and then dropped him off and picked up girl cat (another 30 min.) There were no issues when we did this and things went right back to normal, but after reading online I'm guessing it's because they were both exposed to those same smells/experience so there wasn't really a staying cat/going cat dynamic. They have been good friends since the introduction 4 years ago, playing often and able to live in peace up to a up to a week while we take trips and have a neighbor check in on them daily in the afternoons for food/wateaffection.
Flash forward to now, as I'm writing this, its been around two hours since we got home. We've placed girl cat on our couch on top of a few layers of towels. After reading more posts on here, I've put a couple dirty socks and a towel I used this morning around her bc boy cat is a little weirdo and loves our used socks/underweatowels (he's an orange.). It's been a few hours, there hasn't been a ton of hissing or trying to initiate fighting on his behalf but the energy is definitely off. He was laying next to me on our other couch (they're still in the same room since she's come home and we haven't separated them) and he gets his claw stuck in the fabric and gets over stressed for a second and mini-hisses at me as I go to help him as I always do. Now, he's gone upstairs to nap on our bed while girl cat is still zonked on the couch. He's basically separated himself from the situation to take a sleep.
The point of this word vomit is essentially to ask you all if you feel this is okay or if I should be doing more. A lot of posts on here on this same subject included comments telling OP to separate them and do a slow scent introduction as if they are meeting for the first time again. I'm anxious because partner and I both work 8-6:30 and aren't able to leave our workplaces long for lunches, and we both work tomorrow. Any advice? Anyone whose cats had some aggression but it ended up not needing to be a full blown intervention? I'm just looking for some confirmation that these situations aren't always horror stories that take weeks to resolve and sometimes it's just weird vibes for a little bit. First of all, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone for your incredible feedback on our app launch a few days ago. To be completely honest we had absolutely no idea whether anyone would even read our post let alone download the app but we’re super happy to say over the last few days we have had several hundred people download Goalquest and a bunch of people provided thoughts/feedback. Your thoughts/feedback on look & feel, usability etc. have been unbelievably helpful in helping us shape GoalQuest into an app that would be genuinely useful to you, or to anyone else who is looking to achieve their goals / general self improvement journey.
Upcoming updates
Based on your feedback, we’ve been hard at work implementing some key improvements. Here’s what we’ve updated from just the last few day’s feedback:

• Onboarding:
  • Reduced upfront requirements to enter data such as weight and height during onboarding
  • Added the ability to select "Other" as a gender
  • Fixed the issue with entering name/email on multiple lines
• Text & readability:
  • Increased font size for better readability
  • Increased the speed of the text in the speech bubbles
• Integrated Android gestures:
  • Made the Android back button work as expected in addition to the back button at the top left of the screen
  • You can now swipe from the right or left edge of the screen to go back a step, instead of using the back button at the top left
  • Added swipe left twice to exit the app, a feature many Android users are familiar with

The update is now available on android and should be available on iOS in the coming day

I’m excited for when this car releases later this year since it’s competing directly with the Tesla model Y with 319 miles epa. The fast charger will now be 150kw so it would take like 40mins to get a full charge I assume since they said 77miles in 10 mins. The car turns on when you get in the car no push to start nothing so it works similar to the Tesla. The large 17.7inch display looks so clean to me. It also looks very spacious. I like the door handles too they come out when you unlock the car it’s not weird like the Tesla you have to push in. So I’m excited for the car only downside is no CarPlay. But it has googleplay built in which I don’t mind since I like google maps and you can download Spotify. Also it qualifies for the 7500k tax credit so I estimate it will cost around 30k well for freight cost it’s another 1k I think. Thats a 31k car with the same range as a Tesla model Y that costs around 44k with the 7500k tax credit being included into that price estimate.

(PSA) I want to start off by recommending retroarch for iPad users. Delta is a FANTASTIC app. I highly recommend it. That being said, if you want to play on an iPad in landscape mode, there is only the iOS version of Delta on iPad. The developer is working on the app for iPad, but as of writing this, retroarch scales perfectly.
(PSA) When it comes to cores. On the apple version of this app, all the cores apple has approved are already included in the app. Can’t add or remove any cores like you can on all the other platforms when running retroarch. If a core is not in retroarch on an apple platform, it is not an approved core or is limited by apple restrictions and will not play well. Apple is not allowing JIT. This is a problem for ps2, psp, and GameCube for sure.
(PRO TIP. .7z to .zip) Using the files app, you can unzip a .7z file. Just rename it to .zip and select it. The files app will unzip it. Done. No need for an unzipping app.
(REQUIRED.) Some cores will crash or not boot a rom. I have found this to be mostly related to bios files not being in the app. (To add bios files = Use the files app. Go to on my iphone. Then find the retroarch folder, and select it. Then select the subfolder that is also named retroarch. After that scroll down to the folder named system. Dump all of your bios for all systems into this folder. I would add any bios you can find for the systems you are playing. This will stop the crashing and increase compatibility with games from different regions.) , (To find what bios are missing, open the retroarch app. Go to settings, core, Manage cores, Scroll down to the core you want to use, Select the core. Then scroll down to firmware. Just below that, you will see which bios are optional. Which ones are missing and required. The (!) is just a bullet point.) If you try to load a rom and it still crashes use a different core to launch that game if it is available. It could be a compatibility issue between the core and the rom. Or it could be region locked and you still need another bios file.

1.) (REQUIRED.) If you want to save yourself some annoyances with Retroarch on iOS, then after you make a change to your settings, hit home in the navigation menu, select configuration file, then save configuration file. I choose the overwrite option, but you can choose what best fits you. We can do this on other platforms by just tapping the back button until it exits the application, but there isn’t a back button on iOS.

2.) (OPTIONAL.) I like to turn on vibration/ haptic feedback. Go to settings in the navigation menu, input and scroll down to haptic feedback. I turn both options on and leave the vibration strength at 100%.

3.) (OPTIONAL.) I like to change the user interface. You can do this in two ways. A.) Changing the theme. Go to settings, user interface, appearance, select color theme and then choose your favorite. Mine is material ui dark. A.1) If you want you can also choose another app icon. The setting is the first option under user interface. B.) I like the stock setup, but you can change the entire layout to be different. You can go to settings, drivers, and select menu. The stock option is glui. You can choose the option you like the best in this section.

4.) (OPTIONAL.) I like to change the date and time format at the top to be something I am more used to. Go to settings, user interface, menu item visibility and select “style of date and time” towards the end of the list.

5.) (REQUIRED.) GETTING GAMES IN THE APP. Then we get to importing content. In the iOS version, Retroarch wants the roms to be placed into a folder that is inside of the Retroarch app itself. What I do is take the roms I want to play on Retroarch and move them into the Retroarch app. Here is how I do that. I have a folder already on my iPhone with the roms I want to play on Retroarch. (I store my roms on device. Using the Files app, then on my iphone and save the folder on your phone first. We move it to where it needs to go in the next step.). My folder is named “Retroarch Roms”. It can be really helpful to stay organized. Especially if you also use the Delta and ppsspp apps. I use the files app to locate this folder. Then I select it and move it. Or you could copy it but be mindful of files sizes and storage space. (I put “copy it” in here for a major reason. If you store all your roms in retroarch. And one day you want to delete and reinstall the app…. Bye bye roms. My library is too big to back up to iCloud. But that might be a good option if it works. I have not tested it.). Then move or paste this folder inside of the Retroarch app folder under downloads. (Files app, on my iphone, scroll down to retroarch – select it, then select the subfolder that is also named retroarch, then scroll down to downloads, select it. Your entire folder or multiple folders can go here.) Then hit the playlist menu (middle navigation button.) and select import content. Then scan directory. Click documents/retroarch, scroll down to downloads, then select scan this directory. Then let it do its thing. I like to leave the app open and on screen so the iphone/ipad doesn’t limit background activity. After it is done you can come back to the playlist menu to look through and launch your games. After you have launched a few games, You can go to Home, history and launch your recently played games from there. There is a favorites tab in the playlist section, but I don’t use it personally.

6.) (UPDATES.) I like to make sure a few things are up to date. So, I hit the home menu at the bottom. Go to online updater. Make sure on demand thumbnails is toggled on. (This will add box art on demand as you scroll through your playlist/library.) Then just below that update core files and all the others below it. Update all of them. Then scroll back up to playlist thumbnail updater (This is how you download box art manually for each playlist/library.) and select any system libraries/playlists that are missing album art. If it is your first time, I would just select them all to make sure box art is there when you browse your library. If you want some free to use roms go to content downloader and some homebrew and other roms are in there for each system.

(PSA.2) After you are done changing any settings. Do not just close the app. Make sure you save the configuration file like I mentioned at the start of this post. If not, the settings you changed will be “forgotten” but the roms and album art should still be there. Man, I wish someone told me that before I wasted my life 3 times in a row.

7.) (PS1) Firmware for ps1. To run games correctly you will need firmware for the ps1. PSX rearmed can get you started and playing but the “beetle psx hw” core for ps1 has an upscaling capability. This will make games look tremendously better. Firmware location. After a quick search on the interwebs, you have what you need. (To find what bios are missing, open the retroarch app. Go to settings, core, Manage cores, Scroll down to the core you want to use, Select the core. Then scroll down to firmware. Just below that, you will see which bios are optional. Which ones are missing and which are required. The (!) is just a bullet point.) Use your files app. Go to on my iPhone. Find the Retroarch app folder. Click the folder in there named retroarch. Scroll down to system and dump the bios files there. I can’t say where to get them, but “psx bios” should be easy to find in an archive if you search the googles. Make sure the spelling matches specifically. You can look in settings. Scroll down to directory. And you can scroll through where the app is currently looking for bios and you can change that if you need to. You can also go to settings, select core, manage cores, then scroll to the core you are looking for, then select the core. Scroll down to firmware section and select the “looking in” option to see where it wants the bios. It will tell you if any bios are missing as well. This can apply to any core. Not just ps1 cores.

8.) (SEGA SATURN.). Make sure all the Saturn bios are in the system folder inside the Retroarch folder (Look at the other bullet points on this post to see how. Some games will not launch unless the core has the correct bios. ). Roms. After extracting a rom, it should be a folder full of bin files. Put that whole folder (For each game/rom) in a Saturn roms sub folder. (Make a new folder called “Saturn Roms”.) Using the files app, go to on my iphone, go to the retroarch folder, then the retroarch sub folder. Then scroll down and select downloads. This is where you want to store the Saturn Roms folder. When you import content into retroarch. It will scan the folders and subfolders that have all the bin files. Games will appear as one in the playlist/library.

8.) (FAST VIDEO OR AUDiO) Sync issues. I turned on audio sync and it ran sonic super fast. Other people have had the opposite problem and need to turn it on. The same goes for video sync. The fixes are different depending on the device. Go to settings, video, synchronization, and adjust. You can change the refresh rate in the settings, video, output, vertical refresh rate in this section. This should only be adjusted if you are having issues. Audio sync is under settings, audio, synchronization. It says recommended to turn on. Mine goes crazy if I toggle that on. So I leave it off.

9.) (CORE OPTIONS.) Some systems have multiple cores available. I change them out on the fly by hitting playlist in the navigation menu (Middle option.) Scrolling down to the system I want to play. Then selecting the game, I am looking for. (Do not select run yet.) Then scrolling down and selecting set core association. If you want to use the same core for an entire playlist/library. You can go to settings. Playlists, manage playlists, then select the system you want to set a core for, scroll down to default core, and you can pick the one that works best for your needs.
