Popheads recently reached the 2 million subscriber milestone, thanks to your continued participation and support!
We wanted to celebrate, and tried to think of fun things that we could do as a subreddit. A well loved Popheads activity has always been our yearly Top 100 lists, where the community comes together to vote to create a list of our favorite 100 songs of the past year. The list reveal is always fun and one of my personal favorite days of the year, and these lists honestly provide a great representation of our community - a snapshot of our own personal taste, if you will.
Therefore, for this subscriber milestone, we will be doing another Popheads Top 100…but this time, of a throwback year: 2014!!!
2014 was chosen for two reasons: one, the obvious, is that this year is the tenth anniversary of that year. The second is that the annual Popheads Top 100 actually started with the year 2015, so 2014 is the most recent year without “coverage”, so to speak. (If this is a success, we would love to repeat this for other years - 2013, 2012, even earlier!)
Without further ado, the rules for participation are below.
Like with our normal years, you can also vote in the entirely non-official just-for-fun survey: “What song would you remove a vote from?” You can fill that in optionally here even if you don’t submit an official ballot.
We can be DM'ed here at this account, or at our personal Discord or Reddit accounts (@ bigbigbee a.k.a bigbigbee ; @ trailblazer_l a.k.a prettybirbkotori ; @ haobinist a.k.a MoonlightByWindow ; @ haobinfan a.k.a runaway1312 ).
And here's a few more important guidelines.
If you would like a reminder of what songs were released in 2014, feel free to have a peruse through these links:
An artist will never have more than 3 songs on the list. Even if after the initial vote an artist manages to have 6 songs numerically in the Top 100, only the top 3 of those will be added. This is an editorial decision, based on the fact that it seems more popular to feature as many different artists as possible and showcase the breadth of the sub's music taste rather than dedicate huge chunks of the list to one artist, or one album (sorry 1989 fans!).
It is inevitable that many songs will get the same number of votes. Songs with the same number of votes will appear alphabetically in the list, but we will make the number of votes that every song received public. There may be some weird stuff happening if the list doesn’t end up being exactly 100 songs long, in which case there may be some discretional tie-breaks.
We'll be writing the Top 15 to keep it under wraps. The remaining 85 songs will be given to other guest writers! If you feel like you’re a good writer and you’re interested, just mention it when you send in your list (we will assume that you're interested in writing for one of the tracks that you submitted in your votes).
Write-ups will ideally be 4-6 sentences long, though shorter or longer is completely fine**.** Feel free to talk about anything - its chart performance, its composition, your personal experience with the song, etc. There is no perfect writeup - this list is a collection of our thoughts as a community, not an official list from a music publication!
You can also message any of us on our personal Discord or Reddit accounts as listed above (Discord is slightly preferable) if you’re interested – we will try our best to find a writeup for you if possible!
In choosing to do writeups, you inevitably find out whether a song has made it onto the list to write for it, but to keep the surprise as much as possible, we will not tell you the position of the song if we send you a song to write for.

How To Participate

I. How To Send In Your Song Votes
Make a list of your favorite songs released in 2014 (January 1st 2014 - December 31st 2014). This list should have a minimum of 10 songs and a maximum of 25 songs. Please see II. Song Eligibility for more details on what you can and can't submit.- Do not submit more than 3 songs from any one main artist. Songs where those artists are features do not count towards this 3-song limit on your list.†
- The list does not have to be ordered/ranked. We are not weighting your votes, just tallying.
- PM your lists to our shared account u/Popheads100Throwback by June 16th, 11:59PM EST (03:59AM GMT).
- Songs should be listed in Artist - Song format with features listed with (feat. ____) after the song title. Try to stylize and capitalize artist and song names as closely to the official listing as you can (for example, Beyoncé should have the accent). The fewer discrepancies, the easier it is for us to sort the list later, so it's very much appreciated.
- You can change your list at any time! Just message us and tell us what you want changed.

And here's a few more important guidelines.
- Your songs do not have to be singles. Of course, if you're trying to get a certain song on the list, singles tend to get more votes than random album tracks.
- Your songs do not have to be 'pop' songs, nor do vocal songs have to be in English. Songs from any genre, and international songs, are all welcome. After all, no “best of 2014” list can be complete without Orange Caramel’s Catellena...
- We are not encouraging tactical or strategic voting, but we are not exactly discouraging it either. Obviously, some songs are more likely to make the list than others, and you should keep that in mind when making your list (whether that means you choose to stick to the big hits, or champion some lesser-known songs instead).
II. Song Eligibility
Your song must have been first officially available between the dates of January 1st 2014 and December 31st 2014. What does 'first officially available' mean? In essence, legally available to stream (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.) or buy online.- If a single was released after January 1st 2014, but was first officially available on a parent album before that date, it is not eligible.
- Similarly, a song on an album released after January 1st 2014 is not eligible if it was released as a pre-album single prior to that date. Sadly, this means Azealia Banks’ 212 is therefore ineligible (probably for the best, we all know it would have won…).
- Official remixes are eligible for the list regardless of the original song's release date, provided that the remix was released between the same dates of January 1st 2014 and December 31st 2014.

III. How We Will Make The Final Top 100 List

I own VWCE UCITS stocks in InteractiveBrokers. My accountant says that if I hold the stocks for at least 3 years or I sell at maximum 100,000 czk per year I pay no taxes.
My idea was that selling a UCITS stock or getting dividends is tax free in EU without conditions.
Could you please enlighten me?

Unfortunately m8r98a4f2 is MIA, and his phenomenally excellent StarUI series of mods are stuck in limbo.
Hope (s)he's OK, and comes back to us soon!!
I've done a *little* poking around, and I'm absolutely amazed by how clever the StarUI mod is.
It doesn't "cheat" at all, as far as the system is concerned, because it replaces the animation files (.swf) that drive the menus -- no console commands or anything -- clever as hell!
I was able to use JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler to look through the mod (still haven't figured out everything I did to get to that point -- I was throwing a font error originally)
I don't know how to fix the HUD (yet) but I have some idea on the Shipbuilder:
There seem to be three areas of the ActionScripts:
ShipPartData - Seems to be a library mapping FormID's to their relevant Hull/Mass/PoweDamage etc...
ShipPartInfoFetcher and ShipVariantInfoFetcher LOOK like they might feed this ShipPartData construct, but I haven't poked through to see everything that's happening.
MAYBE this is enough for some of you out there who do this stuff regularly to go "oh heck yeah, I can fix this in 10 minutes!!"
But I don't have any experience editing SWF's and my JPEXS is crashing (can it even upload changes back??)
Any insight from y'all on 1) -- is m8r ok?? and 2) how do we carry this on if they've decided to move on? Anyone with the SWF background that would consider describing how they'd go about applying the fix?
Basics that I could think of:
How do we get the FormID's for all the new habs? -- This seems to be the only part that's really breaking.
I would suggest that ShipPartInfoFetcher at least is working (mostly) -- as the mod works with DerreTech and Darkstar Astrodynamics, and it does well with variants from Darkstar -- so the ability to dynamically get the info without the formid's all prepopulated into ShipPartData has to be at least partially working, unless I completely understand how those two built their parts.
There's PROBABLY a flag in the empty habs that needs to be accounted for (BGS could've done something like create a new variant on the parent formid that can only differentiate itself with this new flag??) which would suggest that the ShipVariantInfoFetcher is where we need the most attention.
How would you go about debugging this? What can you do to get verbose/debug logs out of the SWF?
How would you update the SWF with the modified ActionScripts?

I(32F) am a single mother of two kids (6M and 5m F). I am a single mother by choice (my kids are donor conceived).
I am lucky enough to have a good job (French teacher in a private school), and a paid off house (parents’ life insurance and inheritance).
Before I had either of my kids, I made sure to have a year’s living expenses saved, then I would take a sabbatical to recover from birth, as well as bond with my kids. While on sabbatical, I still tutor some kids for some extra income.
My friend (34F), just had a baby 2 months ago. She is the breadwinner in her household, and her husband has been unemployed since he was laid off during COVID.
It was great to be pregnant at the same time, as well as having a friend with a newborn. But it has turned sour.

I am lucky enough to have a good job (French teacher in a private school), and a paid off house (parents’ life insurance and inheritance).
Before I had either of my kids, I made sure to have a year’s living expenses saved, then I would take a sabbatical to recover from birth, as well as bond with my kids. While on sabbatical, I still tutor some kids for some extra income.

 | Hey Y’all! Just wanted to share some thoughts on my experience after 800 miles of driving. For starters, I BURN through the battery 😂. This car has been by far the most fun and enjoyable experience. If I’m in a mood, I can turn onAuto-Pilott and relax, if I have a lead foot (pretty much every day) then I stomp on it and I get all the adrenaline I need at over 33 years old lol. If you want the white interior, do it! I have a 5 and 7 year old and baby wipes pretty much take anything and everything off of them. It just hitsdifferentlyt when you open the door. The simplicity has been a big one for me. I drove a friend’s 2023 BMW X5 and it had SOOOOO many buttons everywhere. Here I did tint, smoked film for headlights, taillights, and all signals, tissue holder, trash can for the back seat, center console trays, and black badge colors. In the end, it was well under a grand to do all of that. I got used to the regen braking within 24 hours and now have used the brakes maybe 5-10 times over those 800 miles! The brakes will not need to be replaced for a long time. Stereo is by far the best I’ve experienced personally. Not to say there isn’t something better out there but from what I’ve seen in person, nothing compares. Makes for great morning drives dropping the girls off for school, it’s like a concert in my car and everyone is singing! lol. Having your own driver profile is also quite awesome. My fiance just gets in the car and EVERYTHING changes to her settings, mirrors, Spotify account, seat/wheel and even driving preferences (chill acceleration) lol. I choose the MYP simply because it’s just my daily driver and daily is never more than 20-30 miles and I work from home so some days it doesn’t even get driven. I also have a two car garage and had the 240 outlet put in by a friend. If I didn’t have that I could see how charging could get annoying. I used a Tesla supercharger two days ago while I was in the mall and it was pretty neat. It’s funny because I found it to be expensive at $13 for 28 minutes of charging and then I remembered what I pay at gas stations….it’s still much cheaper lol. I’m just getting spoiled with charging at night when I’m home. I don’t know what else to say other than, if you’re indecisive about pulling the trigger and you already know you can afford it, then go for it! Are there a few catches with that, of course! I still feel we’ll always need a gas car and could never do two EV’s as a family. I do think you need at home charging for charging to not become annoying. I don’t have spare time to just go sit at a Tesla charger. But those are about it for me. I will give you the one hiccup I had since owning it. This was my fault btw, lol. So, on pick up day, I got it around 10am and came straight home to work. About 2:00pm I leave for the gym and as I’m leaving the drive way, the car asked if I wanted to schedule an update for 2:00 am that night, so I selected yes! I get to gym and my Tesla app tells me that the update will take 25 minutes and I will easily be in the gym for 45 minutes plus. So my dumb**s selects update because I’m obviously impatient. I get out to the car after working out and my screen says the update is at 10%. I call service and they couldn’t do anything over the air and the conclusion is that I need to get it towed to a service center and it’s a Friday!! I get picked up and head home extremely upset of course. I get back on the phone with service to schedule a tow truck and as we’re on the phone the agent tells me to check my app and see if it shows it in update still and to my surprise it wasn’t! Long story short, don’t try and update your car unless it’s at home and connected to your WiFi. The update was to add my free 3 month FSD, so it was a massive update. I haven’t used FSD too much because I love driving the car so much but it’s pretty damn impressive! Everyone who rides with me is blown away by its capabilities. Anyways, I got my review out and I figured it was the perfect place. So I'm not really crazy for minecraft, but my friend has minecraft on his xbox, I have gamepass but I don't always have access to my xbox, most of the time when he wants to play minecraft I can't just hop on my xbox, I absolutely despise PE bc my phone is too small (not hating on PE, just not for me). Just incase someone thinks this, no I can't get minecraft on pc for free with game pass bc my dad's account has gamepass. I'm also saving to buy myself an xbox, and buying minecraft would luckily only set me back one month of saving and I don't want to waste my money, bc i tend to loose interest in games faster than usual, so what's your opinion

Hi everyone. Probably a very dumb / novice question here. I have a GSuite account - from ages ago when I thought it would be cool to have my own domain. So I have three users. Looking at my admin console, it says "You have chosen to continue using the Free Legacy Edition of G Suite for personal use" On my account I had subscribed to more storage and today I got a refund for that and it seems now it's shared storage, but I cannot figure out how much. I've looked everywhere and I have no clue.
Bottom line - GSuite is overkill I think. We use email / calendar / play store / photos / drive. Not everyone uses the same thing. My mom for example would likely just have email and play store. I don't think she's using any google photos storage/backup, though she likely should.
Is there an easy way to transition out of this? If I set up regular gmail.com accounts for everyone, what would I do next? And what impact on our phones? I don't even know if you can be logged into two "gmail" accounts on an android. But clearly you have to be logged into one. What kind of pain is this going to be to transition out of this? I wish I had done it sooner, but here we are. I presume there is no way to keep the domain accounts but get out of GSuite?

2024.05.21 15:23 bizasuge I grew up lower middle class and my financial literacy rate is practically 0%. What can I be doing better?
TL;DR: 35 year-old making 75k a year. I have an adequate emergency fund. I’m contributing 14% into my company’s 401k (7% of which is Roth Basic). I only have $22.5k in my 401k due to paying off debt aggressively. I am now completely debt free. What can I be doing better and can my money be working harder?
I’m a 35 y/o male in Dallas, TX who hasn’t really had a “decent” job until about 5 years ago. I would consider myself a cheapskate who lives pretty frugally. My total monthly (rent + all bills/payments) expenses are around $1,650. No kids.
Right now, I make 75k. I usually get small (2k-5k) cost of living bumps every year. A few years ago, I got a title bump and my salary went up 20k and a raise will most likely happen again in a few years given the field I’m in.
Since last year, I’ve been contributing 14% into my work’s combined 401k / Profit Sharing plan in a Fidelity Freedom 2055 Fund. I have 7% in a Roth Basic and 7% in an “Employee Deferral” (I think the latter is just the name for a normal 401k?). I also don’t really know which plan is best for my situation. My employer matches 50% of the first 3% of pay I defer, not to exceed $1,500. I become 100% vested next year (currently 80% vested) in our employer contributions / profit sharing plan. Do I need a Roth IRA in addition to my 401k if I’m not maxing it out at the moment?
Currently, my 401k sits at $32.5k. It’s much lower than I’d like because I used any extra income to aggressively pay off loans (see next text block).
Over the pandemic, half of my income went to paying off all student loan and credit card debt. Today, I am completely debt free.
I have about $14.5k in my checking account and $1,000 in my bank’s saving account. I consider most of the $14.5k my “emergency funds.” I’m sure there’s a better place to that fund than in my checking account. Should I put my emergency fund in a HYSA?
I’d love to hear how I can be doing better. Can my money be working harder for me?
Do I need a high-yield savings account? A Roth IRA in addition to my 401k? Should I be throwing more into my retirement account? Should I be investing in an index fund or a target date fund right now?
As someone who knows very little about money, reading the personal finance wiki was super helpful, but a lot of this still makes my head spin. Thanks for any advice!
