Sorry this will be long and is a rant/ asking for advice - I just need help :/
I (24F) and my mom (50F) have always had a complicated relationship. She has been a hoarder for as long as I can remember (i would say she’s a level 4). We had pathways going through the house to cut through the piles mounting on either side in every room of the house. In bedrooms the only carpet you would see if the area where the door opened, the basement was practically taped off because it was full to the brim, the kitchen sink was always full of dishes and sludge.. you get the picture.
At the same time, i was the only person in the house to actually care. I was the only one who would fight my mom on it and would just get shut down and told “i have a headache I don’t want to talk about this now.” (This was a common theme even to now, a few months ago I called her and this got brought up and I told her how much it hurt me and she turned it around about how it was basically my fault because I made her feel like she was never enough, the guilt was never ending). I tried cleaning and it never mattered. We’d clean for holidays and it would just go right back. It even seeped to the outside. I was embarrassed to have people drop me off outside the house - I could obviously never have friends over. I actually walked home from school in the rain one time instead of accepting a ride because I didn’t want me friends to see my house.
To add onto this, I was treated like a maid. I did my laundry, my mothers, my fathers, and my 2 younger brothers. When holidays came I was the only one who HAD to help clean - forced to clean the horrible kitchen the living room etc. it kept going until the summer before I went to college, our internet went out that summer and no one could come into the house to fix it so I spent that summer watching Netflix on my laptop with a hotspot from my phone. At this point I decided I couldn’t do college from here. I was going to be commuting and I just couldn’t do it, so I moved in with my grandmother who only lived a block away and it was the best decision I’ve made (even though my parents were incredibly angry that I did)
Now, both of my brothers have moved in with my grandmother (15M and 17M) and as much as I’m happy for them part of me is hurt that they get to live the life I wish I had (my parents were also incredibly strict with me blaming the fact I was the first child and a girl - I’m talking 1 minute past curfew and I was grounded for the next week)
It also doesn’t help that 10 years ago she started a travel agency which has taken off (and good for her) but now she’s gone traveling for “work” 50% of the time when no one else is allowed to touch her mess, so everyone just has to suffer while she gets to escape (she still does this - she also rented an office space for her company and filled it with stuff too and even worse has 3 cats there, I took our family cats because I couldn’t watch them live there)
I’ve now moved in with my husband (23M) but we live in the same town as my family (grandma has a condo she’s renting to us for CHEAP) but I still struggle with my relationship with my mother. I don’t know what to do. I probably need therapy but I don’t know what they’re going to tell me I haven’t already thought of. The problem is my mom has her good qualities she is always very supportive and in your corner no matter what but the resentment I have is still there and I feel stuck. I feel so guilty like whatever choice I make is wrong. I don’t know if I can cut her out, I just don’t know what to do

Hi - my Excel skills are very basic and I have this task I perform regularly for which I was hoping some sort of Excel sorcery could help to automate. Here are the steps I take with visual example below:

1. open new document
2. freeze top rows of the first SHEETS 1 and 2
3. in SHEET 2 remove all but columns B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, M
4. Sort SHEET 1 (ASIN level summary) by column J, newest to oldest
5. copy all AISNs in desired date range and paste into new document, change background to black and text to white
6. copy first AISN then go to SHEET 2 in original document (Review these issues), search that AISN and copy all rows with that AISN
7. Paste into new document
8. Rinse and repeat
9. when finished, sort new document by AISN

Do we have to do all 6 themes they give us or is it 4?

Basically what the title says:
I am trying to conduct a two-way repeated measures ANOVA in rstudio. I have a dataset that's got columns for "Condition", "Intox_score", "Point", "Day", and "ID".
I'd like to look at intox score, over time (Point - broken down into 1-12) by Condition (T, F, M).
My output looks like this:

I believe the issue is that R is taking every single row into account as if they're all individual subjects, and that is what's creating an issue. That being said, I cannot wrap my mind around how I would need to update things to remedy this. Am I using using the right test for this?

Water, as a source of life, also becomes a central theme in the Exodus story, since it is the most basic human need when traveling through a dry and hot desert. Not only does God part the Red Sea allowing for the safe passage of the Israelites, but He also provides water for them by miraculously issuing water from a rock. Therefore, just as Jesus provides the living water by which His people will never thirst again, so does God provide for the Israelites natural water in a miraculous way to quench their temporary thirst. The same with the manna from heaven: just as Jesus provides for us His body and blood as food and drink, without which we cannot be a part of Him and His kingdom, so also the Jews were given the manna miraculously for forty years in the desert, without which they would not have survived to enter the Promised Land.
Arriving at Sinai, before Moses ascended the mountain, he spoke to the people (Ex. 19:3-9):

Compare this with what we read in the Acts of the Apostles (2:1-4), when the holy apostles were in the upper room in which Jesus established His covenant with them before His crucifixion, waiting for the promise of the Lord to send them His Holy Spirit, who suddenly came on Pentecost at the third hour of the day:
"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
The people outside who heard this noise and had come from throughout the world to Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost were confused by what they heard and amazed how each of them could understand the apostles in their own language, yet some mocked them and considered them drunk. Peter then spoke to the people and proclaimed the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ, testifying to the fact that the Holy Spirit had come, the great day of the Lord proclaimed by the prophets. Then we read of the reaction of the people:
"Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, 'Men and brethren, what shall we do?' Then Peter said to them, 'Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.' ... Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them... Hey guys, took a break from BG3 for a bit but recently came back for my, I think, 7th playthrough and recently finished the first step I always take when starting anew; Setting up my companion's classes beforehand lol
Idk how many other people do this, but I always plan out what classes I'm gonna make each companion before starting, each time being slightly different, and I refuse to have any subclass overlap and I always try to keep each canonically accurate. This time I decided I'd go back to their main starting classes but I'd make them all unique multiclasses, again with zero subclass overlap and all entirely canonically accurate.
Normally I just go about this on my own but a friend was asking me about it and was asking for help cause as he put it he's really bad at making multiclasses that work but wants to "mix up" his companions for his 2nd playthrough, so I shared my current "load out" with him and he loved it all so much he said I should share it "online or something" lol Well I'm sitting here at work waiting for some crap to load before I can actually do anything with it so figured I could pass the time with sharing my newest origin multiclasses for anyone interested in smaller mixups!
This is gonna get long, also there will be spoilers as I'll be talking about WHY some of these work based on their lore, sometimes lore that's revealed later in the game, you've been warned lol

1. Shadowheart - Life Cleric lvl 6/Gloom Stalker lvl 6

For starters, Trickster Doman sucks ass, secondly this idea leans more into Selune anyways. The premise of this one is to lean into the fact she's a "torn person," even if she doesn't know it at first she's stuck between this divine rivalry of Selune and Shar, so splitting the classes evenly is kind of a representation of that.
Gloom Stalker more represents not only Shar and her influence but also her earlier upbringing, we know her parents were druids and she had to go through some sort of rite about going off into the woods at a young age, so her being a Ranger by default works in my mind (can also choose Sanctified Stalker for lore). Life Cleric leans more on Selune thematically, but is also chosen to mechanically make such an even split work.
The Life Cleric's ability to increase the amount healed works based on a flat amount plus the spell level, so you don't need a lot of specific class levels to make it work, and getting at least lvl 5 in Ranger provides extra attack, placing such a multiclass in the role of damage dealer but with a fairly substantial amount of healing compared to other options. You will be lacking in higher level spells but as the main focus will be as a Ranger I don't think that'll be a hindrance to effectiveness in the slightest. Ranged will also work better, imo, as you want to have access to your bonus action for healing words and hunter's mark usage so dual wielding won't be as good and no other melee option available to Ranger will match the effectiveness of focusing on archery, but that doesn't mean you can't do it if you want to lol
I changed her stats slightly to focus on Dex and Wis, mostly just syphoning points from her Str into her Dex and leaving most everything else as it is, then started by leveling the Ranger first, fit better for the early game being all about Shar, and also getting to extra attack asap.
2. Lae'zel - Battle Master lvl 4/Great Old One Warlock lvl 8
Now I know the most common reaction will be "warlock!?" But here me out lol
Githyanki worship Vlaakith, their god, but she isn't actually a god, she's a powerful lich trying to become a god. So making Lae'zel some sort of Cleric doesn't actually make any sense, since her deity technically shouldn't be able to grant any divine powers, but we do see her more powerful followers having abilities, specifically psionic abilities, almost like a GOO Warlock. Now I know Gith all have latent psionics so that's largely why they also have such powers, but why not accentuate that further with Pact Magic? You can also play it off as not actually being a warlock, since it's never mentioned in game regardless, and it's just her own psionic abilities manifesting, simply choose the most psionically reminiscent spells, even if they won't be the most effective her spells won't be her main strength anyways.
Obviously make her a PotB Warlock, and focus on melee combat with BM maneuvers, but having access to Hex and potentially even Eldritch Blast will just make her that much more powerful as a damage dealer. Both subclasses also recharge on short rest, adding some points for convenience lol
Initially stat wise I was a bit torn, cause she's NOT a "charismatic" person, but then I remembered that Charisma doesn't just mean "social skills," it's also "force of person," it's why Sorcerers use it for spell casting, and Lae'zel is most definitely a very confident and expressive person, so I think it actually works. That being said I still focus her Str more then her Cha, just taking some points out of all her other stats to boost it but keeping them the same relative spread, so more in Dex and Con then Int and Wis. Starting her in Warlock until lvl 5 is also advisable, then I like to go straight to Fighter lvl 4 to get BM and a feat, then gonna finish the last few levels in Warlock to get to 4th level spell slots.
3. Gale - Abjuration Wizard lvl 10/Fighter lvl 2
This one in particular is more about mechanics then lore, but I think it still works for both.
Obviously Gale has to be mostly Wizard, he talks about it SO MUCH that it wouldn't make as much sense if he was mostly anything else even if thematically it would work, like Bard or Sorcerer. However I find most Wizard schools to be boring and the ones that work best as multiclasses work better as dips, like 2 levels into Evocation for spell sculpting. Abjuration though works very well as a focus, and feeds into being quite tanky. That's why Fighter, for armor proficiencies, so either need to start as it for heavy armor, use a feat to get it asap, or just give him 14 in Dex and use medium armor. This gives him a high AC while being able to reduce the damage that does hit him, all while still being able to focus on a lot of high damage spells, with lvl 2 in Fighter you also get Action Surge for a round of double spells (double fireballs are great lol).
I think any Wizard school works for Gale canonically, honestly, and Fighter may not make the most sense but he is a well off human with a stellar education from one of the richest cities on the Sword Coast, so part of that education being in the basics of martial combat (no subclass, need lvl 10 in Wizard and makes sense he doesn't have one if it wasn't a focus) makes just enough sense for me to say it works lol
Stat wise you can honestly keep it the same as default, he just needs Int and going for Con secondary works very well, I also just like to give him some Cha cause he's a well spoken man.
4. Astarion - Swords Bard lvl 10/Rogue lvl 2
First things first, I think Astarion simply works better as a Bard by default then he does a Rogue, what with how he apparently would seduce people non-stop to bring back to Cazador, and going College of Swords fits that same "stabby stabby" theme lol
Also yes he can still be your lock picker since Bards get expertise as well.
So in reality I would actually just go all 12 levels into Bard for him, but I did that a number of times and wanted everyone to have their canon class in a multiclass, so 2 levels in Rogue works best. You kinda need lvl 10 in Bard for Magical Secrets, as it's super strong and a lot of fun to add what-the-fuck-ever you want into any build, and 2nd level in Rogue gives cunning action, so go for the Dueling fighting style, focus on bows anyways, and keep your bonus action open for cunning actions as well as his bite.
I redo his stats a fair amount though, to focus entirely on Dex and Cha ofc, but I also tank his Int and Wis to 8 cause it makes sense to me (he's clearly not the wisest and the writers have said he's probably the dumbest of the OG cast lol), and I think a vampire spawn should still have decent Str and Con anyways. For leveling I go straight to 6 in Bard for that extra attack, get 2 in Rogue cause cunning action is fun, then finish the rest of Bard.
5. Wyll - Fiend Warlock lvl 2/Draconic Sorcerer lvl 10
In this case I'm taking some liberties but here me out, again lol
So obviously need Fiend Warlock first, but lvl 2 is important for those first invocations, namely Agonizing Blast. Afterwards just go full Sorcerer! The stretch for how it works is that we know about Ansur now, a bronze dragon confirmed to have been living in Baldur's Gate for YEARS, so who's to say he *wasn't* involved with someone in Wyll's genealogy? lol I know it's HIGHLY unlikely, but it's still possible and I wanted at least one Sorcerer!
So ofc go Bronze ancestry, for the lore, but obviously Red would have the most synergy if you don't care, and make sure to grab quickened spell when you can for meta magic, why? DOUBLE ELDRITCH BLASTING! LOL That's the whole thing with this build, yeah you'll get a lot of spells, high level ones too, so it'll increase his versatility, but doubling down on Eldritch Blasts is incredibly powerful and thematically still sticks with the whole Warlock thing. I like to focus fire based spells to go with the whole Fiendish Patron stuff, but like I said the spells are secondary, believe it or not lol
This is another case of being able to leave his stats as they are, but I personally like to give him a bit of strength, as he is "The Blade of Frontiers," higher then average Str makes sense to me, and I just drain his Wis for it cause dh lol But a focus on Cha and a secondary on Dex is the important part.
6. Karlach - Berserker lvl 8/Thief lvl 4
I think this one is the most straight forward one but also one of my favs mechanically.
Build her like normal as a Berserker, but have her dual wield weapons with finesse, even if she's using Str for them they'll still sneak attack, and when you get the second bonus action her damage will become pretty crazy. Other then a pair of bracers you can find in Act 2 from Dammon I think, there isn't really any way of getting two weapon fighting without a third class dip and I just didn't want to, but at some point some how it'll be necessary.
The reason this works is cause of her upbringing. We all know why she's a Barbarian, but she tells us she was a ruffian when she was younger, even worked for Gortash as basically a thug, so Rogue fits well for me and if she wasn't keen on the law for a while then her being a thief also fits, imo.
Where this build takes off those is all the throwing! lol With Berserker and Thief you can throw a TON of shit per round, you can even take Tavern Brawler if you want to focus on this and carry around a bazillion daggers, the damage actually gets so insane sometimes that I specifically avoid Tavern Brawler cause I already find the game too easy and don't need to clean house THAT effectively lol
Her stats can also be left alone, I like to focus on Str regardless even if Dex might be stronger without Tavern Brawler, but it's an option if you want. Once again though rush through Berserker to lvl 5 for extra attack, then go to Thief lvl 4 for the subclass and feat, then just finish off with Barbarian afterwards.
7. Halsin (yup I also do all the other companions LOL) - Moon Druid lvl 2/Open Hand Monk lvl 10
Dude is a giant, I want him to punch people super hard with those tree trunk arms, it's THAT simple lol
I honestly wouldn't even bother with Druid levels if not for the fact it's so engrained into his character, but grabbing two levels to get the subclass allows for the bonus action wildshape which just provides some further versatility, and he gets a Bear shape regardless so might as well keep access to it. This is also where I might recommend sticking in a Tavern Brawler build, as I obviously want to focus on Str for this big man, plus it kind of makes sense if you forget about the actual name of the feat. He grew up in nature, is a mostly self taught druid to my understanding, so using the Tavern Brawler feat also kind of implies a degree of "self teaching" when it comes to unarmed striking, ya know? Open Hand is also just the best Monk subclass, Four Elements miiiiiight make more sense but not enough for me to not just use Open Hand.
Stat-wise I shift them around a lot, as they don't make much sense to me to begin with, keeping his Int low (he grew up in the wild even if he is a smart dude) and I drop his Cha (again grew up among animals, even if he is well spoken and kind it makes sense if his social skills are lacking), then focus on Str with a decent spread between Dex, Wis, and Con.
He also starts at a higher level so I grab 2 lvls in Druid right away then just rush down Monk afterwards.
8. Minthara - Vengeance Paladin lvl 2/War Cleric lvl 10
Here's the endgame Cleric for ya! lol
I have found it's super helpful to have a Cleric with lvl 5 spells in the later portions of the game, not necessary ofc but I personally wanted one and Shart was more of a Ranger with this setup, and this is a build I've always liked even in regular DnD.
You will ofc be forced to make her a Cleric of Lolth despite her having renounced Lolth, but if you know how Lolth works then it actually still makes sense. If Minthara is still upholding her oaths and actively in the midst of some chaotic shit, then OFC Lolth would continue to approve, no joke! Plus with how all female Lolthsworn are raised her being some degree of Cleric actually makes far more sense then being a full Paladin. If you're unaware, female Drow of Menzoberranzan ALL go to learn divine (cleric) magics in an elite school before they're allowed to really join their houses, it's actually a requirement that Minthara (being a Beanre) would not have been able to avoid.
The reason it works so well though is cause of smites and the War Domain. She'll have the high level spells for utility, damage, and healing, but she'll have access to more smites being mostly a full caster AND if you can use her War Priest bonus action attack it can also smite! With this build she's far more of a caster and support character then a smiting machine, but give her the auto criting tadpole power (since she has extra tadpoles anyways) and you can nuke something with this CLERIC lol
I personally swap her to sword and board and use a finesses weapon, so I can focus her stats on Dex and Wis, with Con secondary and I spread out her last three stats evenly, cause she is strong, charismatic, and smart, so I couldn't bring myself to dump any of them fully lol
Just like Halsin I always start her off with 2 lvls in Paladin then just jam through Cleric afterwards.
9. Jaheira - Spore Druid lvl 7/Champion Fighter lvl 5
This one in particular was specifically so I could keep her as a dual wielding combatant since that's always kind of ben her canonically preferred style.
I don't think this is an uncommon build at all, getting 5 levels in Fighter for extra attack then just jamming Spore Druid for all the damage and survivability, so I won't go into too much detail on it, but the reason I chose Champion was cause I wanted Lae'zel to be a Battle Master but also she's literally a champion of Baldur's Gate, it works fucking perfectly! lol Spores actually fit less well but hey, it's still druid and the build is super strong, so I'm not losing any sleep over it.
I mostly keep her stats the same, but I do put a bit more into Dex, usually drop Wis a bit and dump her Str to get Dex up, but that's about it and technically it could still work without any stat changes. I mean you could get the dual wielder feat on her then give her the rapier Wyll gets from Mizora when you save her, keep one of the Scimitars she starts with, and she'll then be attacking with her Wis entirely at that point, so that is also an option, I just like to keep the rapier on Wyll and not even bother with that feat for Jaheira.
10 Minsc - Hunter Ranger lvl 4/Wildheart Barbarian lvl 8
This one should be obvious, ngl. He's already known as a Ranger, loves animals, is a Rashaman berserker, he even gets his own custom Barb screams done by Matt Mercer (unlike Halsin, disappointingly enough). There should be no question why this combo works for him lol
Make sure to take Colossus Slayer as a Hunter, then go Bear Barbarian, give him a big two handed weapon, and you've now got one of the heaviest hitting and tankiest combos in the game, straight up. He has very little versatility, that's the main downside, he pretty much just rages, run him in, and attack shit, but even THAT fits Minsc perfectly.
For his stats I pretty much just swap his Str and Dex, maybe put a bit of his Wis into his Dex as well to hit that comfortable 14 and give him medium armor instead of using his unarmored defense, but this is ofc flexible. At the time you get him as well you should be able to just fully build him to lvl 12, maybe 10 or 11 if you rush to him, so order of levels doesn't really matter.
BUT THERE IT IS! All done, hope someone out there finds this useful or at least interesting, and thanks to anyone who read the whole thing, I know it was a lot lol
As a final note, I'm not interested in arguing how good or accurate any of these are, or of other options (like Shadow Monk/Cleric Shart, for example, but my Tav is a Shadow Monk/Assassin so didn't want that to overlap), like I said I'm on my 7th playthrough and I haven't done their standard classes and subclasses since my very first run and I've always tried to keep stuff that fit them accurately, this is just the current one I'm using and so far has been one of the most fun "load outs" lol

CHANGES

• Mobility-type abilities (i.e. Void Sling, Nezha’s Blazing Chakram, Kullervo’s Wrathful Advance, Ash’s Teleport, etc.) can now be used any many times as you like (Energy permitting) during the Ropalolyst fight, with the exception of the wire traversing portion of Phase 1.
  • Previously, the Ropalolyst would use its Nullifying Scream immediately after a mobility-type ability was used.
  • Now, the Ropalolyst will only use its Nullifying Scream after a mobility-type ability is used while attempting to bypass the wires.
    • There was a bug with Nullifying Scream that made it inconsistent and unpredictable. It would allow every 3rd or 5th cast of a mobility-type ability and then nullify completely, instead of doing so after the first cast. So we decided to fix the issue by allowing these abilities to be used freely during the fight and only trigger Nullifying Scream when cast during the wire stage. This is so that we can maintain the intended challenge and design of that Phase.
• Fixed the cooldown for Void Sling not ticking down while playing as a Warframe nullified by Ropalolyst’s Nullifying Scream.
  • Previously, the cooldown would stop while playing as a Warframe and would only continue while playing as the Operator.
  • Now, the cooldown ticks down while in Warframe and Operator, so that you can Void Sling faster while switching between the two.
• Removed the nullifying field around enemy Necramechs.
  • In addition to abilities being nullified unpredictably, there were no visual indicators for this field which made it extremely difficult to countedodge, so we’ve just removed it entirely. This only affected a few specific Abilities, including Void Sling, so we felt it was no longer necessary to maintain.
• "Scattered Justice" Augment Mod is now compatible with the Kuva Hek.
  • When we first made the decision to prevent this Mod from being equipped on the Kuva Hek many years ago, we felt it was the right decision for the time. Our goal was to keep the Kuva Hek in check and avoid it being significantly more powerful than all other shotguns, which would have been limiting to the all-important player choice in the Arsenal. Revisiting this decision now in 2024, there are other sufficient weapons and upgrades to make the Kuva Hek & Scattered Justice a good choice but not the ONLY choice. Note that Scattered Justice remains incompatible with the Vaykor Hek because it already has a built in "Justice" effect.
• “The Price Of Freedom” (Free one Captured Solaris using a Granum Crown) Nightwave Act will now only appear if you’ve completed The Deadlock Protocol Quest - since Granum Crowns are not accessible until then.
• Updated the music in the in-game Market to make it more ambient and added full length tracks in place of the short music snippets.
• Added correlating icons whenever one of the 14 main Damage or Status Effects are mentioned in Nightwave Act descriptions to increase readability.
• Updated the names of the Pride Glyphs and Displays.

OPTIMIZATIONS

• Made a number of optimizations to the Friends, Clan and Alliance members lists.
• Fixed performance issues caused by extremely intense blue/white VFX taking over the screen during the Kaithe phase of the Steel Path Orowyrm fight.

FIXES

• Fixed completing Omnia Fissure missions not counting towards the “Unlock Relic” Nightwave Act.
• Fixed loss of function when casting Dante’s Noctua ability after completing the Kaithe stage of the Steel Path Orowyrm fight.
• Fixed players with Overguard being affected by the Gruzzling’s slow AOE.

Column A has dates, column B I have a calc to dynamically populate a work code. We started the first code in the second half of march so it was ACE-2024-001. We're not doing it every 14 days, we're doing it so that the start of every month increases +1 in that 0xx part of the code and then once the 16th of the month hits, it increases +1 again and so on.

Great work on Poe2. Super hyped to see it. These are some suggestions I had for a fellow content creator I hoped they passed on but I don't believe they did. Subjective as most things in life, but a like minded person will get it. I have a million more things to add, but here's a brief list:
Better sound Fx for elemental spells. D3 and D4 failed at this. They need to be created sounds, not the actual sound. For example: the score of Diablo 1s lightning is quite unique. Diablo 2s frozen orb and blizzard don’t sound anything like the actual element but are iconic while not creating ear strain on repetition.
Town music and hideout music. Overall great scores. However, on the samples at Poecon, they sounded a bit generic. They need to add unique color and flavor. Everyone remembers the Tristram theme for a reason. It’s simple: Use unique string and wind instruments and unique mysterious combinations. I’d suggest someone dynamic like Brandon Acker (youtube) and give him a mood to create then add to the existing track.
Limited linear pathing. One place Diablo 4 epically failed was pathing. The world is a giant Swiss cheese. Look at the mini map in D3. Sooooo much unplayable space. The total walkable area is less than Act 1 of D2. PoE1 was fine with this overall….but they still had a bit too much linear pathing. Imagine a PoE map designed like the overworld of D4 and it will make sense why this is bad game design.
Instanced boss battles. This will be highly controversial, but I think trapping players in a small room (started in d3) without an ability to escape is a bad idea. Imagine Baals throne room was the size of azmodans or belials. Same for mephisto. Same for Diablo. Imagine the chaos sanctuary was just the pentagram. Super lame. Some is fine but for every boss…bad design. In D2 you could always escape and Tp out. Some is fine but an all arena approach is a narrow approach. Consider evolving boss fight environments like multiple level terrain, interact with objects to slow the boss, a pit you can jump into, a sunlight room to pull a vamp boss into to burn, etc. Take a page from all boss battles you guys love from other video games add genres.
Trading: Trading should be mostly automatic so even if you’re offline ppl can purchase your goods. I suggest having a dedicated vendor in your hideout where you list items for sale with gold publicly where players can go to any main town and search for items. Once they find one, they can either port to the sellers hideout vendor or just purchase on the spot. Currency for the seller would be kept at the same merchant to withdrawal. This opens ggg to sell merchant tabs and customization which would help with initial profits of the game.
If at all possible, integrate an in game wiki. So if there’s a skill or item with a special power, it opens a Book looking page in game which describes the ability and possibly has an animation showing the effect. PoE1 was far too much alt tabbing. Now, PoB will likely never be implement in game, which would be ideal, but PoE1 was waaaayyyyyy too much alt tabbing. I think this would very much add to player immersion.
Also, if they are actually doing cinematics this go around, they should take a dark and sinister page from this book for inspiration: most ppl haven’t seen this one before but I think it’s the best: It’s why D3 and D4 missed. Mysterious. Dark. Sinister with hints of good vs evil. Have a blast! Badge of honor, you’re now one of the boys!

The rift between them has caused a lot of tension in my family and now my mom wants to be in the life of her newborn grandson but refuses to address or try to mend things with my wife.
Little history: I probably introduced them too quickly. My grandmother was in town in south Florida about to move here from Illinois for a retirement community. My wife, girlfriend at the time, came with cookies or some form of baked goods like she usually does when visiting someone as a sign of affection and respect. Where it went wrong from here I have no idea. I suppose the initial crack was when wife scheduled a skitrip for her and I to have as a 1 year of dating anniversary present. We are not rich, this is a huge gift that made sense to her since I refused to let her pay rent. Our combines salaries are barely over 120k. So wife calls mom 6 months in advance because she is a planner for the sole purpose of asking my mom to watch one of our four dogs. Wife has already paid in full for the trip. Yet Mom decides it is a great idea to instead use the opportunity to hop on and take a family trip because it is the last time the family will have for a family vacation - I am the oldest of two boys and two stepsisters, my mom married the guy she left my father for who has twin girls of his own that were in the womb during the infidelity. Anyway mom completely takes over and decides to make our one year gift a family vacation, so she books tickets for a hotel nearby. Wife is bold but at the time not bold enough to stop my mom in her tracks for overstepping a boundary. At this time she still respected my mother and kind of let herself get steamrolled.
Probably skippable Family history: Now I have always had issues with my mother, resentment for leaving my father for my stepdad behind my own fathers back and constantly trying to keep brother and I from seeing “Disneyland dad who doesn’t do any of the work but gets all the fun.” my mother was very strict growing up, always bringing us to church and making my father feel guilty for not bringing brother and I on his weekend. So mom marries stepdad age 11, divorces him around 13 after asking me advice for her relationship and i encourage her to move out. Then remarries him and moves us back into his house age 15. Here I begin rebellion and normal teeenager stuff but stepdad won’t butt in because he isn’t my “biological father” so would have my mom intervene brother and i from behind the scenes. For example, I am young and messing around on the piano because music is important and I never had any formal training and mom comes in to tell me stepdad “wants to know when the concert is going to end because it is a little annoying.” Anyway, they have me prescribed adderall at 16 and in the parking lot holding my first prescription I am told that they would like me to move out and in with my father, who had chased us every time mom and stepdad moved several miles away (5 moves from age 5-15 all in one county). Anyway, brother and I are recovering alcoholics with (my) slipups triggered from interactions or visiting my mom, which mom claims is genetics from my father alone and has nothing to do with her. Maternal grandfather, mother, and I have some nasty temper problems which certainly are exacerbated by drinking (at least mine and moms).
Skitrip revelations: Wife and I are on the way to brothers graduation in Chicago, and wife has yet to reveal to me that my mother has taken over her massive investment of a couples ski vacation and it will now be a family vacation for mom, stepdad, brother, two stepsisters who are all getting out of gradschool. On the way to the airport I am told the news by future wife of my one year surprise. So I get upset and call my mom to call it off. She obliges my request and now holds resentment against me and now wife for “ruining her last family vacation.” Fine, whatever. Mother never says a word about it for months until we are out for a distant family members birthday dinner and at a table of about 8-10 people that are having a group conversation and gets real close to my wife’s ear and tells her privately along the lines of “you deprived our family of our last family vacation.” During this time my wife is frantically tapping my leg under the table because my mom can get a little aggressive. My mom saw this and later (privately to me) mocked her for doing it to my leg under the table.
Christmas blessings: Closer to Christmas maybe 2/3 weeks later we went to go see my mom and my mom had a couple drinks in her (not an alcoholic like brother and I just very sensitive to a couple glasses of wine and occasionally some hidden sips of wine or something) and invites my wife to Christmas church and out to dinner after because the family needs photos for a Christmas card and future wife “will be the photographer for it.” Now this can easily be a nothing comment but given the way my mom had been making future wife feel, it was taken as an insult. So wife declined church and showed up to family dinner just in time for photography session to be over.
The distance: Then mom moves to a fancy house up the coast and invites us up to visit. At first it is ok to bring the 4 dogs then the day before she says they will not have dogs at the house and we can easily find a sitter. 2 Dogs don’t get along, they need to be separated always as there has been two attacks on one from the other, so we can’t trust someone to come to the house and keep them separate and we won’t board 4 dogs it’s too expensive for us. Anyway we go back and forth being invited with the dogs then they retract the offer and say pick one dog to bring and leave the others and it’s just annoying, so we say forget it and don’t go. But my brother becomes engaged and decides to throw his engagement party at my mom’s new place near the beach. Great. First all the dogs are welcome, then day before they say it is too chaotic and she will pay for a small hotel room for one night for future wife and her dogs and my one (the attack dog) can stay in a crate at the house with me but I may not leave the dog to stay with her. And no reasonable cheap hotel in the area is going to accommodate 4 dogs. Anyway wife is stressed but feels obligated to come because I am the best man and I stay at the house while she checks her dogs into the hotel. Wife had made a cheesecake and brought it up in a separate car from me, 4 hour drive by the way, and night of.. my mom says no desserts for engagement party dinner, the dessert is themed or some crazy stuff. Wife shows up to dinner a little later and very flustered because of the situation plus I had relapsed on a bottle of whiskey a couple days prior to seeing my mom. Related, I don’t know. Anyway. Mom has had a couple drinks and future wife and I are talking about having children and religion comes up. Mom asks what we were thinking of doing about baptism or not and I jokingly said (guiltily to get on my moms nerves a bit) that he would have a bris and would love it if she would come to the bar mitzvah. now my wife’s mom was forced to convert from Catholicism to Judaism for her own mother in laws acceptance for a failed marriage so wife is not religious, but it hurt my wife and reasonably so when my mom replied “oh, son, I raised you better than that.” Still no acknowlegement of fault from that comment and mom thinks wife is “overly sensitive, dramatic, and childish” for wanting an apology for it.
Weddings: Future wife becomes current wife. We had gotten engaged on our next anniversary trip she planned for us. I proposed on our bike and barge through tulip season in holland with our feet in the water of the North Sea after a picnic in the dunes. her family business manufactures photo albums for professional photographers, so aside from our families all being divorced, estranged, difficult, and us trying to save money, we did not have a wedding, we just did the paperwork within a month of the proposal. I had already decided to have a baby with her before the trip so we were trying. 2 weeks before brothers wedding in Tennessee we become pregnant, so we break news immediately as to not steal limelight from brothers expensive wedding. Mom says she will cover cost of rental car so we can save money. Ok great. She books the tiny car and we pack it and head up the Smokey mountains to the cabins we are staying at. Two cabins for grooms family, one for his mother and one for his father, ten paces from each other: they havnt spoken but twice im since divorce in 1995 but through lawyers. Grandmother, mother, stepdad, 2 stepsisters and one boyfriend stayed in mom’s side. Wife and I stay at father’s side cabin with just his wife. His Wife’s 3 daughters and family’s stayed a town away down the mountain among extended family. Anyway, beautiful wedding takes place. My wife is sent into town to collect flowers and run errands for my mom which she happily obliged to since she is a solitary person and did not want wedding day drama. Day after, we are loading our rental sedan with our bags. Mom and grandma need a ride to the airport and our flight is before theirs so they will drop off the car for us 4 hours or so after we go to the airport 5 hours from current time. We’re loading the car. Stepcousin passed out in mother’s cabin night before and needed a ride. Disorganized brunch for 20 people is trying to be made. Father’s wife’s daughter books a reservation for 10 people which include her family, her sisters, me, my wife, dad, and their mom. My stepdad had left for home at this point as he had taken his own suv instead of flying with my mom and 90 year old grandma. So mom is trying to pack grandma in the car with bags and my wife and stepcousin. At this point mother asks stepmother if she and grandma are on reservation for the brunch. Stepmom says no they are not, she wasn’t sure of their plans. Mom says under her breath “fucking assholes, so typical,” and she goes into a bit of a rage to which my stepmom says here “it’s ok I will call and add you two it’s no big deal.” So we continue packing the car and realize we won’t all fit. So my wife tells my stepcousin to go ride with my father to the restaurant 10 minutes away we will meet you there. Mom says to wife, “no you go with the father.” Wife says “no I am going to ride with my husband” mom gets close to her face with her finger and says “this is my car, you can fucking Uber!” Wife is 6 weeks pregnant at this point and it all escalated from here. wife and mother start yelling at each other swearing at each other and we get into the car, mom behind wife who was in shotgun. 2 occasions on the trip I had to stop the car because mom had taken off her seatbelt to stand over the seat and scream in my wife’s face with so much vigor that spit came on to her face multiple times. I’m trying to tell them both to behave and mom sit down shut the f up. Mom is telling wife to get the f out of the car and find a ride, she has no right to speak because she’s “new here” (dating and living together for 3 years at this point). The following brunch she apologized in a crowd with a hushed voice at a table of 20 people trying to have a group conversation again privately to my wife “I’m sorry you get so upset” and my wife told her “that is not an apology.” The following several hours in the car with grandma and stepcousin and wife were some of the most uncomfortable moments of my life. At a gas station I pulled my mom aside and said I need ther to give a huge apology, that it was so nasty and inappropriate, my brother and I are used to abusive language and aggressive behavior but to my pregnant wife and any other human being it is disgusting and unacceptable. Sitting in the car was quiet for many hours until we got to the airport. No speaking about what happened just mom happy go lucky about Tennessee and Dollywood and wife and I in shock, cousin still half in the bag from a fun wedding, grandma 90 years old probably confused about what happened.
The family groupchat: Im waiting on an apology from my mother to my wife who is extremely hurt and expressed to my mom loads of time she needs to reach out and apologize. We’re not talking until she will do so. It is bugging me and keeping me up at night. My appendix flares up and I am admitted to the hospital with emergency appendectomy. Still pregnant Wife suggests I reach out to mom to let her know what’s going on. So I text mom I’m at the hospital and will have surgery. I send a pic or something that on my end says hasn’t gone through. Mom group texts our family group with stepdad, his daughters, brother and his wife, and grandma that I am in the hospital and attaches the pic I sent of me in there. Then she continues to rave about the success of her startup company and how they got FDA approved clinical trials finally completed or some pivotal moment that made the text about her. Wife and I are in a hospital so the picture comes up on moms end as unable to have been sent. Mom assumes that my wife has blocked her phone, so mom removes my wife from the chat. Wife is rushing home to take care of the dogs at this point and is not alerted on her phone, but on everyone else’s phone it clearly reads “(mom) has removed (wife) from the chat.” Immediately I text my mom and basically say how dare you do that to her she is the one who insisted I let you know out of respect and mom responds with blah blah she did this she did that I will not have it. So I go back to the family chat and remove mother. At this point I let everyone in the chat know what my mother has done and how she refuses to take responsibility for how she made my wife feel, address her feelings, apologize or do anything at all to reach out about the wedding incident or even inquire about the wellbeing of the pregnancy for her first grandchild. Stepdad finally steps in and tells me “enough.” Grandma says “shame on you.” I am dumbfounded. This is a hush hush family that hates to have anything out in the open and likes to maintain a picture perfect image. For examples; 1) I and wife were on the family Christmas card of a photo taken at the wedding that the whole world received except for wife and I. 2)brothers alcoholism was to remain hidden from the family as was his rehab treatment and how it affected his career. Now understand that they like to keep things quiet but that is not how I want to handle my problems, these things trigger alcohol use and violent outbursts on my part that I no longer wish to live through. Now appendectomy’s are pretty simple so I recovered quickly (it don’t rupture we just took it out). But during the time I was scheduled to be under anesthesia, stepdad reaches out to wife to have a chat and clear the air. Wife waits until I come to so i can be there and I hear the conversation. He claims to be here as a middleman like a business meeting to fix things once and for all. Wife and I are like wow great. He then proceeds to double down on my moms behalf that they will not be apologizing or meet any of her demands as she had already apologized as confirmed by 90yo grandma who was in the car and my mother herself. The term he used was stalemate to describe the situation. Wife and I are shocked but she has me keep quiet to show me what he will say. He proceeds to yell at her and they were screaming at each other, again steamrolling the conversation assuring us that he was down the middle yet maintains that mom has made a sufficient apology that needs to be accepted and wife needs to grow up and move on, then wishing her luck with the baby and a nice life. Next day I call stepdad to see how it went. He reassures me that he has done all he can and everything is back to normal. At this point I call him out and tell him I was conscious and explain to him what an apology is. But there is no dialogue with this guy like there is no dialogue with my mother. He proceeds to talk loudly over me like she does and basically call me a piece of shit for the amount he and mother have done for me. I speak to him first time like I never have before by calling him a hands off father and a pussy of a man who finally reaches out while he thinks I am under anesthesia to yell at my wife then pretend it’s cool, and I basically tell him he has never done a single thing for me to try and develop me into a man or nurture me as a child into an adult, but he thinks taking me on fishing trips and ski vacations are equivalent to love and nurturing growth and development just like my mom does. I reassure him that he has no right to talk about family being that he ruined his own as well as mine and couldn’t even tell my dad to his face that it was him who was sleeping with my mom behind his back when my dad came to him very upset as a friend when he got an anonymous phone tip at work one day. Then him and my mom laughed about it in court when my dad brought it up during the divorce. We ended with swearing and I felt very happy for finally giving my true feelings to him.
The birth: Months go by and nobody has said a thing. I can’t sleep at night seeing how much love I am getting from my father and his side for the baby, and my wife’s family, then thinking about how my own mother hasn’t reached out a single time. I’m dreaming about beating up my stepdad and it’s driving me mad. So weeks before the due date I reach out to my mom begging her to clear things up and apologize to my wife. Nothing. A week later i tell her how disappointed and abandoned I feel and want her in the family. Nothing. Baby comes a couple days early. Everyone is excited. Mom texts me begging for photos and to let everyone know. I tell her my brother and two stepsisters have received photos. I ask her to please reach out to wife she still needs to make amends for what’s happened between them and all she needs to do is reach out. Mom’s responses have been defensive, derisive, projecting, playing victim and referring to herself as a kicked puppy. Telling me my wife needs to apologize to her and making the conversation about mother son instead. She is beating around the bush. And she is sending me photos of my own baby that I did not send her. Her friends are congratulating me that I did not tell. Again she is pretending that everything is ok and it is not. She asked me to apologize to her husband for what I said on the phone that day. I said ok, watch this. So I sent the guy a message that was very apologetic and not passive aggressive or backhanded comments in any way. Still my mom won’t say anything.
Now: Baby is 6 days old. He is the best thing in my life and I wish my family were involved but it seems like I am living in a fantasy world where everyone can be happy together. I can be a jerk and have a terrible relationship with my mom, but I want more than anything to just feel loved enough where she can swallow her pride and make amends with my wife. Thats it. And she asked the other day to put a family group chat so everyone can be involved… for real? I know she is stressed with a high pressure job, but it seems heartless to me. She asks what big items she can get for the baby. Mom, baby is here we have everything for a couple months already. I said the biggest thing you can do is reach out and have a heart to heart with my wife so this rift can end and we can at least be cordial if you two can’t get along. I don’t think it will happen.

On behalf of the BlackMUD team, I am delighted to confirm that, after much hard work, Age of Discovery is now officially available to the public. This means that, if you haven’t played BlackMUD before or for some time, it’s a great time to play as everyone has had to start over from the same level with their characters, which makes it as level a playing field as possible for new players.
After 31 years of continuous game progress, this Age will be a particularly celebratory one for the BlackMUD community. This Age introduces more new content than any release in over a decade, including new game mechanics, new character creation options, new spells and skills, and new and refreshed zones. The world of Entia is a wonderous and challenging place, set within a medieval/fantasy theme and boasting over 90 original areas, made up of 35000 rooms (and still growing and improving in quality), all designed around a comprehensive world theme and history.
Specific new features that we have launched in Age of Discovery include:

• Numerous changes to the Player Character (PC) creation process to facilitate improved innate stats and abilities for PCs such as saving throws and base stats such as strength, dexterity, etc.
• Transformational race updates to give races a more equitable spread of abilities/perks/quirks
• Optional GUI integration with Mudlet (now BM’s officially supported MUD client moving forwards)
• A brand new resistance/susceptability system for NPCs
• Numerous updated skills/spells
• 4 new zones/areas and 1 re-designed/hugely expanded zone

BlackMUD is combat-centric but do we encourage and reward roleplaying for those who wish to participate. In Age of Discovery the story continues and the world of Entia is again at war. The forces of chaos once again seek to Unmake the universe itself. New threats emerge in the far north and cities expand in the heart of the continent of Balric. It is a time of fear and darkness. It is a time for those with courage, to step forward and defend their beliefs, and their very existence.
We are excited to see you all in game! And the fun doesn’t end there: we are committing to a long-term roadmap of content for 2024 and beyond, which will result in new content releases on a regular release cycle from here on out.
