Fatal 15 - Safe Streets Visibility Rally
Good afternoon everyone. Families for Safe Streets SD is hosting a rally on the corner of Market St and 19 St on May 31 from 1pm-3pm. The purpose of the rally is to secure funding for the Fatal 15. You may have seen a post earlier this month that listed the intersections and the districts that they are located in. We will be there to channel support with signs and other means. You can make a sign before hand or make one on the spot with the materials we will be bringing. We welcome you to join us.
Q: What is the Fatal 15? A: The Fatal 15 are intersections based on data from 2018-2022 with both more than 3 pedestrian and cycle involved traffic crashes and the most pedestrian and cyclist fatalities.
https://assets.nationbuilder.com/circulatesd/pages/7440/attachments/original/1715376960/2024-05-09_Fix_The_Fatal_Fifteen_-_Circulate_MAY_REVISE_Cost_Estimate_1.5M.pdf?1715376960
Q: What is Families for Safe Streets SD? A: Families for Safe Streets confronts the preventable epidemic of traffic violence by advocating for life-saving changes and providing support to those who have been impacted by crashes. We are one of 20 chapters. Feel free to follow us on instagram. If you want to join, support, or would like to stay informed about our group fill out the short form on the link provided directly beneath this answer. You can join even if you yourself or someone you know has not been impacted by a traffic fatality or severe injury.

https://www.instagram.com/familiesforsafestreetssd?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Q: What can I do if I want to support but can’t make it A: You can message the mayor and your council member urging to fix the Fatal 15. You can also join Families for Safe Streets San Diego
Current information provided to me states that there will be funding available for 8 of the intersections.
The Seven Deadly Leftovers are as follows; -Clairemont Mesa Blvd & Doliva Dr (District 2) -Rosecrans & Moore St (District 2) -Federal Blvd & Euclid Ave (District 4) -Mira Mesa Blvd & Black Mountain Rd (District 6) -Westview Pkwy & Mira Mesa Blvd (District 6) -Imperial Ave & 26th Ave (District 8) -Market St & 19th Ave (District 8)
Less than a month ago not a single intersection was going to be fixed. The work this group is putting in is making progress in our city. You have a voice and we are here to amplify it. Everyone deserves to have safe streets in our city. Making our streets safe will benefit all users; pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Yearly we lose about 50+ pedestrians and cyclists to traffic violence. 2022 alone saw 60 deaths and over 570 injuries alone. It can happen to any of us at any time.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to me or FamiliesforSafeStreets San Diego. I will do my best to answer your questions or lead you in the right direction. We are not alone on this.
Following are resources to view the scope of the damage we are experiencing.

2024.05.21 21:52 Cold-Bear-325 Will it hurt? Timeless by Alexandra_Emerson

Hi! Its my first time posting on this subreddit and I read the rules but im scared I'll do something wrong haha and I don't really know how to properly tag for spoilers but yeah #spoilers
I am currently reading timeless by Alexandra Emerson. I'm on chapter 20, I have already cried several times and loved every minute of it lol, but im really scared. I usually don't check the tags very much, I think this is HEA, however haha I know this is loosely based on the time traveler's wife and I absolutely hateeee the ending of tttw but love the story.
I need to know for sure that the ending is not the same or similar. I say this because I've been growing suspicious of Lucious and what he knows about the time loop I think of course that his disdain for Hermione has to do with her blood status but I cant stopppp thinking about the first jumping incident. The way Hermione reacts to seeing him is like he died and Lucious behavior up until the chapter I am currently in is just soo bizarre because I can't shake the feeling that is for something elsee he saw on that first jumping incident.
Also I know there is a lot of discussion around the HEA tag because of secrets and masks iykyk but I just need to know, does it end like the time traveler's wife?

2024.05.21 21:51 cake_swindler From a past Madeline

This is a little off subject and I usually don't talk about this (other than in therapy). I know a lot of people don't understand how a mother could possibly leave their child with a predator and honestly I'm glad they don't understand. It's something that should never happen. But it does and has for a long time. Giving birth doesn't make a mother no more than than them DNA makes a dad. Here's my story.
My mother met a man when I was 2 who she absolutely loved (I believe she still does) when I was 4 they got married. From the moment I can remember I listened to my mother describe in detail about being violently raped by her stepfather. How ALL men were sick in the head except her husband. I was just so happy that she was finally happy that I ignored the uncomfortable feelings I had when he would repeatedly expose himself, sometimes with her in the room. It was always an accident they said even though as an adult it's not difficult to think maybe he should wear sweatpants instead of just underwear around the house. Then I caught him looking in the bathroom windows while I was showering and he claimed he heard a loud noise and thought I fell. Eventually he got a camcorder (this was late 80s, early 90s) and I found that turned on in the bathroom. He claimed it wasn't on even though it was a green light for on and a red light for off. My mother also had a no underwear at bed rule, still not sure why. But she had us all sleeping in the same bed, me in the middle, sometimes she would be working and it would be just be the two of us. And I was supposed to call him dad because mine was "a no good drunk". She would even send me on trips with him and I got so many presents. I don't remember most of my childhood, I think it's my brains way of protecting me. One thing I never understood was why his family wouldn't talk to him. I found out when I was 20 that when my mother and ex-stepfather started dating his sisters all went to my mother and told her that he was caught raping his five year old niece. Apparently, she didn't mind.

Hello, here I am once again! First ever Fan-Fic.
Last week I opened a poll about the type of Fan-Fic I should write (or try to), and after a good 4 days I took a look at said poll, and the overwhelming majority went for Option 2. And so I shall try my hardest to deliver, and give you all a story about Humanity entering on the Galactic stage later and being more prepared for eventual hostile encounters, and acting as such.
Let's see what I can cook up in my tired state- Some creative liberties are to be expected.
Still thinking of a Title- but this is the one I came up with.
... Also consider this a proof of concept for now, a WIP if you will, as I'm still new to writing (and not a native English speaker either) and wanting to learn as much as possible while writing anything at all- so expect word vomit. Any and all feedback will be welcomed.
Lastly, all love to for having made such an amazing universe.

2024.05.21 21:30 GardenMagik Meta-Narrative of Three Body Problem

I have listened to all 3 books as audiobooks, and seen the western adaption for Netflix. I won't be able to precisely reference chapters and parts of the book in this post, but will do my best to distinguish my thoughts from the book references.
TLDR: In Death's End, Yun Tianming uses story to encode and pass along information to Cheng Xing without the Trisolarian's picking up on it. Could the Three Body Problem represent a meta-narrative attempt at passing information along to the reader, encoding it within a set of stories?
So this is pretty much the idea.
The TV series built in the necessary framework to make the connection later between Jin and Will. In Death's End, the stories are essential for humanity in understanding what to do. Somethings are understood, and other's aren't and unfold in spectacularity (i'd say).
Given the slow movement of this series into international pop culture, could they themselves represent an enfolding of information for us to decipher?
I'm not sure of what it could be in totality, but perhaps the technologies, the secret reorganization of global power structures, nhi contact and an inevitable meeting?
Liu Cixin has an interesting bibliography, and I've enjoyed Cretaceous and the short stories in To Hold Up the Sky. There is a lot of potential and possibility he shares through his writings. There's been some really wild innovations in cosmology, lasers, material sciences, and a lot of attention in the US on secret ufo programs.
What are y'alls thoughts - How important are stories in conveying messages across time and space, and could popular culture offer insights into the secrets and alternative truths?

2024.05.21 21:22 Erwinblackthorn OPC: City in the Clouds by JB Williams

Today’s one page challenge is for The City in the Clouds by J.B. Williams. Finally, a requested challenge, rather than the usual cycle of me finding a story and the person being triggered that I did so. At 234 pages and a whopping price tag of $20.99 for a paperback, it’s a wonder why it looks untouched. Flip some burgers for an hour to pay for this… whatever it is. I was told the editor is good, so let’s see how he gummed up the works.
The rules of the one page challenge are simple: I go through the first page of the book(about 300 words or 3 paragraphs) and say where the average reader would stop. These reviews are short, sweet, and to the point (unlike most of these books). The main things we look for are things like tension, a hint at the plot existing, good feng shui, a feeling like the blurb is accurate, a lack of obfuscation, and the story fulfilling its role as a story. As we go along, I’ll explain why readers love or hate certain elements and we’ll see what straws break the camel’s back.
The title, The City in the Clouds, makes me think of fantasy, but it’s meant to be sci-fi. Clouds symbolize knowledge beyond our reach or something like daydreaming, treated as water in air(mystery in knowledge). Saying the title this way makes it seem like the focus is the city itself, which would be cool if it was something like a dystopian or utopian story. Maybe a tech noir or detective story, but… it’s not. This story is actually about a woman, and it’s a comedy, completely conflicting with the genre in two ways.
I didn’t want to say this but Huston… we’re already having problems.
The ebook cover is a drawing of curly haired woman staring at the camera like she’s constipated, while the paperback version is of an anime girl holding a gun and looking like she has diarrhea. Both versions have her in a suit, with a giant gas planet behind her. Both have similar fonts for the title and name, but the ebook version is so blurred and darkened that it reads like a secret message; the physical version being slightly less blurry. If I saw this on a shelf, I wouldn’t recognize this as a book or know what it was called. I find it strange because the back of the book is very clear, given a blue box for clarity, and has a sun with a red sky that would have made more sense than these frumpy women.
I guess the title and name are made illegible because we’re supposed to zoom our eyes straight to the blurb:
Robin Alia Brook is considered a loser. She works at customer service for one of the largest companies in humanity's interstellar empire, gets stood up on dates, and accidentally kills people. Then when her ex-online boyfriend gives her the winning vacation lottery ticket to the famed habitat, The City of Clouds, she reluctantly accepts it.
Upon arrival, she is greeted by the massive, beautiful gas giant Bellona, and all the glamour and prospects of expansion for the famous habitat. And it is the beginning of a celebration, too! For the election of the new habitat captain! But the celebration and vacation are ruined when pirates attack, seeking the captain's riches.
They are ruthless, they are bloodthirsty, and they won't stop until they get what they want. Unfortunately for the pirates, Robin is really good at accidentally killing people, and with her is a rag tag team of a pilot recruit, an egotistical journalist, a veteran photographer, and the captain himself.
It will be a long battle for The City of Clouds, and the outcome is unknown, but one thing is certain... This is the worst vacation ever.
Slight grammar issues here and there, but most wouldn’t notice that “ex-online boyfriend” would mean the boyfriend was online and not anymore. The delivery is a little bouncy, almost appropriate, but doesn’t give much tone from how much info it tries to cram in. Something I noticed is that very little sci-fi is mentioned, with the only thing giving a sci-fi vibe being the idea of traveling to another planet. If this was a vacation to an island, very little would change from how it’s described. Like the title and name on the cover, a lot of what makes this book a book is hidden from us, in plain sight.
At this point, the average reader would probably not give it a shot, unless the idea of pirates and an ironic Die Hard premise is their cup of tea.
No prologue, no maps, no glossary, just a simple chapter 1 to greet us. Ok, I’m liking this already. I know this is a small thing, but the simplicity of just starting a story is a blessing that should be the norm, and isn’t. I haven’t read a single word and this is already the best OPC so far. Yes, it’s that easy.
Don’t ruin the experience with all your fancy try-hard nonsense and the reader will be in hog heaven.
We are told the planet, sector, system, and date. Very effective in establishing the sci-fi element in this single aside, which also lets us know it’s 400 years in the future. The planet is named Andromeda, which is a well known galaxy, so if this is in that galaxy, I assume it’s going for a “New York, New York” type of gag. The editor did a good job, with the first page establishing a scene in a restaurant. What he messed up on was… everything that’s not the scene itself, which makes up 90% of the words.
The protagonist, Robin Alia Brook has her day off described as “shot in the face”, being delivered in present tense and this has it come out awkwardly. I say this because the second sentence is past tense, then it shifts back to present, back to past. This is why people stick with past tense to avoid the headache, and present tense is now used as a hipster novelty to act as if things are more important because they’re happening as they’re written. Most readers just find it as a distraction and it causes something niche to become more niche in the process. The first paragraph ends with us being told that she’s in a restaurant that is 500 feet under the sea, of a planet called Andromeda.
She is to be dining, but she is NOT dining because her date didn’t show. Cue the audience gasping, because this is a travesty. The part that really kills this opening is the sentence “She is currently obtaining nutrients through Poseidon's generous supply of free lemons water and cheesy garlic biscuits.” This was the perfect chance for worldbuilding, to express something futuristic and fresh. Instead, it tied itself to Earth, talked about mundane food like lemon water, and it didn’t use any of these for a punchline.
This is meant to be a comedy, but is absent of comedy. We don’t need a bunch of humor in the first paragraph, but we do expect a comedy to present a tone that can lead to humor occurring. Every scene for a comedy is a setup for gags and punchlines. Much like horror, the scene is built around the mood, which is brought to a peak around half way. The introduction of a comedy book is going to hold a joke in relation to the entire book.
I believe the blurb when it says this Robin character can kill things by accident, because this book dies right after she’s introduced, around the second paragraph. The third paragraph changes the subject to be about other people in the restaurant, acting as a distraction that leads to infodumps of Robin’s outfit and such. I understand that the “joke” is that this woman is stood up on her date and we are to feel her anguish, but the reader shouldn’t be suffering through the opening this soon. Starting here is either far too late or far too soon. If anything, this is something I expect in chapter 2 or something we hear about as she’s on her way to Bellona.
A good way to put it is that this scene is a non-sequitur done in order to give fashion statements, with the important exposition ignored for window dressing.
The average reader needs tension to get sunk into a sci-fi story, because this is a planet we don’t know about with a character we’ve never seen before. What is the point of having this restaurant so deep underwater? There is a city underwater? She has a job, but where does she work? At the Krusty Krab?
Non-sequitur is a distraction that removes us from the scene and the plot to explain things that don’t serve a purpose to either. If I changed the first sentence to only hold what was part of the scene, it would be the characters name and nothing more. To strengthen an opening like this, we would have to set it up for a punchline, reinforce the sardonic tone, and tie the scene with the situation. The first sentence would go like:
Five hundred feet below the sea’s surface, Robin could not stop drinking.
This will give the impression that she’s getting drunk, while attaching her drinking to the sea outside, giving the impression that she’s drowning. But even then, I wouldn’t start here, I would begin with a comedic amount of assurance that she’s going to have her date show up, then the next scene is her waiting with this. That, or I would have her doing the walk of shame, allowing the plot to begin sooner when she gets her golden ticket, which would be like:
The ocean floor outside was slowly swallowed by darkness as the elevator pod took Robin away from Poseidon.
Here, we have a moment for her to think back to the situation, and the word “darkness” gives hint to her current feeling about the restaurant. This is a setup for the punchline that follows, already skipping the failed date and able to move forward to the poster she sees in the elevator. Movies tend to do this type of exposition with the main character telling the situation to another person, who is helpless to escape. That can add more humor and make the main character express their personality quirks. The goal is for less opening to be used up for non-sequitur and to focus it on moving forward in relation to the plot.
For a story like this, the rejection comes from a lack of being straightforward. We can always fix up a sentence and how it sounds, but this doesn’t mean much when the bones are disjointed. Thankfully, for this one, a lot of readers are used to openings like this from online serials, so there is hope that a lot of it will get a pass. It’s that first hump that it has to get over in order to shine. Sadly, for little Robin, that hump was not achieved, so her journey through the city in the cloud might as well not exist.

2024.05.21 21:10 BleepBlimpBop $RILY DD: Long List of Short Seller Claims --- DEBUNKED with proof!

Ever-shifting Short Seller Claims

The short sellers attacking RILY in 2023-2024 have been relentless (currently 57% of float sold short per FinViz), with an ever-shifting list of wild accusations.
It's sickening to watch them compile a never-ending list of baseless wild theories and claims to support their short positions, which are demonstrably false. But as each is proved false, they pivot to new claims, and/or change the goalposts.
The sheer volume of shifting claims makes it hard to track how despotic they are with their "platform," and how many falsehoods they've spun. Even for someone who watched it in real-time, for almost a year

Compiled & Debunked

Sunlight kills vampires. To that end, I've compiled a list of (i) claimants (ii) claims (iii) reality (iv) definitive source proving reality.

Why Did They Target RILY?

One of the most vocal short sellers, Nate Koppikar (who also introduced Marc Cohodes to the "opportunity") has a fund Orso Partners. Based on their SEC registration document, this is their investment thesis:
"The Account’s investment objectives are to achieve capital appreciation primarily by identifying and selling short marketable equity securities of underfollowed and complex companies with misleading or corrective disclosures through a research-intensive process. The Account employs a short-biased investment strategy with an emphasis on primarily small to mid-cap companies that are underfollowed and complex (i.e., companies with market capitalizations of less than $5 billion which the market does not yet have a wellformed bull and/or bear perspective)."
RILY fits their description. The icing on the cake was the relatively large market cap, and the relatively small float. Given extremely high insider ownership (32.9% of shares per the proxy), and limitations on when and how insiders can trade, the "free float" of the stock (i.e., the shares that regularly trade) is very small for the size of the company. Moreover, the setup would only get better - given insiders have consistently used their free cash to buy additional shares hand-over-fist (further reducing the float).
That meant, with relatively small amounts of capital, the short sellers could shove around the stock price. That ability to move price opens another profit avenue - taking large derivative positions (buying puts, and selling calls), and shoving the price (or allowing it to drift up) to profit all along the way. It looked so good, the stock has been the highest-shorted on the US indices for several months. Even after the release of the 10-K, shares remain "hard to borrow" with elevated borrow fees.

Debunked Claims

The claims made by vocal short sellers could fill a book. Most were outrageous and fanciful when they were proposed. Virtually all have objectively debunked. This isn't a comprehensive list, as their claims are too numerous and varied. But it paints an illuminating picture.
With a track record this poor, one would expect the short sellers to exit - rather than continuing to spin new narratives. Perhaps the continued attacks are their exit strategy to avoid bankruptcy... Well, #Bullish.
With the highest short interest of all US stocks (albeit likely decreased from the highs of ~76% of the float), I think this is more than ripe for a return to fair value - or well above, if a short squeeze occurs.
Note: this sub disallows image posts. There is a similar post in the RILYStock sub which contains virtually all source images for the claim in the comments (too many images to embed in the post). The source images are illuminating.
Note that the list below deliberately excludes three types of posts/claims from the short sellers:
A) Juvenile personal attacks and attempts to character assassinate and dox a long list of people (RILY CEO, RILY new hires, RILY clients, Marcum the auditor, Marcum's lead audit professional, any firm or individual publicly posting a bull thesis on RILY, etc.).
B) Those that make no objective claims, but simply exist as a product of malicious degeneracy (like pictures of roasted pigs in ovens labeled Bryant Riley the CEO, photoshopped pictures of the CEO in prison chains next to convicted felons, video of an obese woman barely able to walk being gored by a bull labeled Mrs. Riley the CEO's wife, etc.).
C) Those that are impossible for short sellers to know, and impossible to objectively verify (e.g., Marc Cohodes claiming a single RILY trader front runs the CEOs personal short trades in front of clients taking following the firm's bullish advice on those stocks, to guarantee profits).

2024.05.21 21:09 Matamorys The numerical and deeper significance of 1983

There is a common misconception that 42 is the answer to the riddle of the universe, there is another notable sequence
In technology, 1983 marked the official debut of the internet as we know it today. On January 1, 1983, the ARPANET, the precursor to the internet, switched to the TCP/IP protocol. This transition laid the groundwork for the development of a global network, revolutionizing communication and information sharing.
In the realm of science, 1983 was a landmark year for genetics. Dr. Kary Mullis, an American biochemist, invented the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, a method that allows scientists to amplify tiny segments of DNA. This groundbreaking discovery earned Mullis the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1993 and has since become a fundamental tool in medical research, forensic science, and biotechnology.
The world of entertainment also saw notable developments in 1983. In the realm of cinema, the iconic movie "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" was released, concluding the original Star Wars trilogy and captivating audiences worldwide. This film not only left a lasting impact on pop culture but also set new standards in special effects and storytelling
I totally didn't ask ChatGPT for facts about the year nah

2024.05.21 21:09 HealthyYard6559 Revelation 2:1-3

,,To the angel of the church of Ephesus write: Thus says He who holds the seven stars in his right hand, and who walks in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks: I know your works, and your labor, and your patience, and that you cannot bear evil, and you have tried those who they say they are apostles, but they are not, and you have found them false; And you endured a lot, and you have patience, and for my name you worked hard, and you did not stop. "
Rev. 2:1-3
Here, in the second chapter, we have the revelation of Jesus that John wrote to the church of Ephesus. Ephesus is a city that was driven to idolatry and the glorification of false gods, and the symbolic meaning of saying Ephesus is "desired".
"Write to the angel of the church of Ephesus" this angel is the preacher of the church in Ephesus and we have seen that before, otherwise the meaning of the word angel in Greek is herald and that is in fact the purpose of preaching "the announcement of news or revelations" that arrived as we have seen in the first chapter from the Lord Jesus Himself.
Based on the record, "The secret of the seven stars that you saw on my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches; and the seven lampstands which you saw are seven churches."
Rev. 1:20
we can say that this was an encouragement to the preacher in the church in Ephesus and to all the other preachers who preached the revelation of Jesus Christ, the Revelation sent through John. The same is the case with the preachers today and this is an encouragement to them because they are proclaiming the word of God and not their own science and exactly that's why Jesus addresses everyone and says that he holds them in the right hand of his power and authority, "Thus speaks the One who holds the seven stars in his right hand"
This speaks of the great importance of preachers who should convey the revelations of God recorded in the Bible and that is why they are called "stars" and the church is called "golden luminary".
,,and what walks in the middle of the seven golden candlesticks: "Since Ephesus was under the influence of false gods, the preacher and the church to which Jesus addresses should be of good material, and Jesus himself is in the middle of the church and He knows what is happening because He sees everything and everything knows.
The "seven golden candlesticks" say that Jesus spoke to seven addresses, and here we are talking about seven churches, and sent to the churches that are in Asia: to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamum, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea"
Rev. 1:11
These were local churches that functioned independently of each other but were united in the love of Jesus Christ and each had its own preacher and the head was the Lord Jesus:
,,...and Christ is the head of the church, and he is the savior of the body."
Eph. 5:23
At the center of those churches was the Lord Jesus and even today it should be the Lord Jesus Christ and not a man because the Lord is the savior, it says:
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them."
Matt. 18:20
"I know your works" clearly says that Jesus knows what is happening in the church and, of course, what the preacher and church members are doing because it further says, "I know your works and your labor". The members of the church in Ephesus worked hard and tried to would do something for the Lord. In addition to the work they had and the effort, another quality of the members is mentioned here, and your patience". Although they lived in difficult and dangerous times, the church in Ephesus was patient and resisted the pressures that were definitely there lived differently from other Jews and did not want to continue living the way they were probably recommended by the rabbis and tradition, but lived according to the new higher standards of Jesus Christ, and that bothered the religious leaders a lot,, And you endured a lot, and you have patience, and for my sake you labored, and you did not stop."
We further read that false apostles came to them with their teachings, but they did not receive them before checking and when they saw that they were bringing another doctrine, they did not receive them into their church, and that you cannot bear the wicked, and you tried those who say that they are apostles, but they weren't and you found them false". And they could recognize them because they were true believers, they knew what it means to be a disciple of Jesus who works for the Lord. It is written about them:
"And this was known to all who lived in Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks; and fear entered all of them, and the name of the Lord Jesus was glorified. And many of those who believed came and confessed and told what they had done. And many of those who cast spells, gathered their books and burned them in front of everyone; and they calculated and found that they were worth fifty thousand groschi. Thus the word of the Lord grew healthily and prevailed."
Acts 19:17-20
The apostle Paul warned about false apostles, but it was necessary for the church in Ephesus to know God's word well in order to recognize the real ones from the false apostles. Paul warns:
"Take care, then, of yourselves and of all the flock in which the Holy Spirit has appointed you bishops to shepherd the church of the Lord and God, which he acquired with his own blood; For I know this that after my departure grievous wolves will enter among you who will not spare the flock; And among yourselves there will be men who will speak perverse doctrine to turn away the disciples after themselves."
Acts 20:28-30
And the apostle John writes about this:
"Kind! Do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits to see if they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world."
1 John 4:1
And we read about who those false prophets were in the sixth verse.. But this is what you have that you hate the actions of the Nikolini, which I also hate." so there were the Nikolini who were a "sect" founded by a man called Nicholas, who was probably from Jerusalem. Misconceptions practiced by the Nicolaitans: they tried to divide the church into priests and laymen, that is, into those who rule and those who are submissive. This was already a practice that was applied in some churches because the apostle Jovan writes:
"I wrote to the church; but Diotrephes, who wants to be the oldest among us, does not receive us."
3 John 1:9
and secondly, they taught and practiced that a sin after conversion is not a sin, and the apostle Paul fights against this, saying:
"So what are we going to say? Shall we remain in sin that grace may multiply? God forbid!"
Rom. 6:1
Here we see that Satan tried to corrupt the church in Ephesus, but the church recognized the false teaching and rejected such teachings, and that is why the Lord Jesus praises them and adds, "which I also hate". Here the church harmonized its way of life and glorifying God with the will God's, and that is exactly what God wants each of us to do, because we received God's revelation in advance, and everything we need to know is said there.
"Because I believe in God that it will be as I was told"
Acts 27:25

2024.05.21 21:07 Gloomy-Wedding9837 Oh great, now I'm a dungeon. 07/?

Chapter Seven: To what do I owe this honor?
I now have access to 15 potential spawners, of which six are actually in use, the others haven't been made yet. At this rate, I'll have so many spawners available to me that it will take me forever to go through them. However... none of my spawners were made from creatures much larger than your typical house cat so maybe as the size and complexity of creatures that enter my domain increases it may effect that in the future. Time will tell I guess. I wonder a little bit about that and I really hope that more complex creatures will be more difficult to acquire spawners from. This all seems too easy. Oh well, it is what it is for now.
It's been interesting though. I now have three rooms. Almost enough mana to upgrade both the owl and slime spawners to level two if I forgo creating a new Scion, and it's only been a few days since I became myself. Things seem to be moving pretty quickly for me. I go ahead and upgrade my owl spawner to level two. It has a 2 hour timer on it now. As well as a shorter 1 hour timer for normal owls. That's interesting. It's the same duration as my mountain cat spawner so far. Looking into my cave I pull up the slime spawner. This one I want to do something different. Paging through the menus I find the area on magic and then to illusion magic. I want my slimes to be illusionists. My slimes spawn at 10 minutes for a base slime, and I want a magic slime. Now that I know it can be done. I upgrade the spawner to level two, the timer flickers and changes to 20 minutes. Huh... ok it doubled the time for a level two slime to be born. Interesting. I then upgrade my slime spawner to spawn Illusion magic using slimes, and the timer changes again. It now has THREE timers running. One for base slimes. One for non-magical level two slimes, and a new one for the level two illusion magic slimes at 40 minutes. So it doubled again.
As the day winds down. I decide my best bet is to just relax and let the night flow past me. By dawn I should have enough mana gained to create an Owl Scion, and maybe do my next expansion. Or maybe only one of them. Hard to say as it will totally depend on how many random invaders come through my domain. So with that thought I go back to paging through the menu and learning as much as I can about what I can or may be able to do. The night passes without me noticing it. But come mid morning I do notice the presence of a delver and it's NOT Sebastian.
My attention snaps to my perimeter and I see a garden variety Dwarf. About four and a half feet tall, ruddy red hair, a beard that is intricately braided that goes down to her belly. They are staring intently directly at me. Ok I know they can't see me, but they are staring at my cave, so at me. I alert my Scions and they begin moving my minions into ambush positions. I don't want to kill this dwarf, but I'll try real hard to discourage them from exploration. I am not at all ready for that yet. They unsling their backpack and remove a clipboard and what I can only guess is a pencil or pen and start writing. I can't understand the script, but they are writing something down anyway.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Inspector Ingrid Emberhart.
Yohhan was right. It is a new dungeon. How he sensed this thing from the city still baffles me but it is a dungeon and it knows I am here. I'm not picking up any malevolence though. I can sense it's minions moving around. Very organized. It's also stronger than Yohhan said it was. At least a level two core, if not a level three core. That doesn't worry me much. I'm a level 12 steel warrior. Nothing this dungeon has should even be able to scratch me. But caution is still the watch word of the day. I begin looking around. An Owl spawner in an oak. Looks to be level two. It's not being aggressive yet, so I walk slowly towards the entrance. As I do so a Massive Mountain Cat steps out of the cave. Barring my entrance. It's a Scion, it has to be.
“Hello Scion. I am Inspector Ingrid Emberhart of the Dungeoneers Guild. It is my duty to inspect dungeons to clear them for delvers to enter. May I inspect your dungeon?” To my shock the Scion shakes it's head no. Ok this dungeon doesn't want an inspection. Why? Maybe it doesn't want delvers? That is odd for a dungeon. I need to figure out what is going on here. “Is that no to the inspection?”
The Scion shakes it's head no. Ok.. so I am not barred from inspecting it. Could it not want delvers? That would be extremely strange. Potentially dangerous as well. A dungeon that doesn't want delvers, may put accidental delvers at risk of death. “You don't want delvers?” I ask..
The Scion does something I didn't expect. It nods yes and shakes it's head no. That doesn't answer the question. Or does it? Let me see... “Ok, correct me if I am wrong here please? You don't want delvers right now, but maybe in the future?” To my great relief the Scion nods yes. Now I understand. The dungeon isn't ready for delvers yet. It must want to either be stronger to kill them, or stronger to protect itself from harm. Ok lets ask the questions then. Goddess be with me.
“Right, so you do want delvers, but not yet. You want to be stronger for them? To prevent them from entering?” The Scion shakes it's head no. Hmmm... “Ok, so you are ok with them entering. Do you intend to harm them?” The Scion shakes it's head no, and looks vaguely nauseous. That's encouraging. It seems that this dungeon is at least not murderous.

2024.05.21 21:06 Beranir Should I give Rebirth chance?

I got FF7 remake two years ago, but only played like an hour, game just didnt click with me. I never played any FF game before and I just thought meh not for me. Well last year I completely fell in love with FF16 and after going through it again this year with all DLCs I decided to give FF7 remake second chance and gues what I actualy started to really enjoying it.
I didnt completely know what was happening, but I was ok with knowing the basic stuff.
Unfortunately everything took wild turn at chapter 18. This chapter single handedly killed all my intentions to buy Rebirth. Story just went from ok I kinda know what is going on to WTF WTF what the fuck? Second bike mission was boring AF and if you quitted at boss you had to redo entire thing, nice one really, I completaly understand why you made it skippable and than the whispers bahamut that put you back like 20 minutes if you die to him. For first time in over 30h I actualy lowered dificulty because it was so painful but on easy its really freaking easy like brain dead easy. Than there was some dude Zack and second Cloud and I just have no idea what is happening and I aparantly really suck at combat.
With all of that is Rebirth better? is story better? does it make more sense for someone that didnt play the original? is the combat better, more aproachable or is it the same? is the game overall considered better than remake or worse?
