Essence Of The Magus. (Nasuverse) • It's a beautiful multicolored liquid that, despite everything, keeps changing to new and innovative colors never seen before, it's very mysterious. • You have a natural body, this means that you are the pinnacle of what the human body has to offer in all its shapes and sizes, you are beautiful and as time goes by those traits will only improve, whether you want the strong beauty of muscles or the very delicacy and fragility of a lily, this will be inclined to your desires and requests, so you will undoubtedly be beautiful to your own preferences and desires, even affect the color of your hair or how your eyes will be, and all this without lowering the capabilities of the human body, with reflexes and senses superior to anyone else, your body is the pinnacle and is always improving to reach new heights, this will always be naturally so no one will suspect anything, everything is decided if you want to stay as you are or become the summit of the body of the human being. • You will always be seen in full elegance, maintaining unparalleled grace and balance, you could be associated with a machine before such a detailed display of pinpoint accuracy, you are graceful and gifted with an overwhelming presence and unmatched charisma, expect to have many admirers unless you voluntarily turn it off or mitigate it, and if you consciously use it to its full force don't expect there will be anyone with enough willpower to resist you, you are nobility in every concept of the word, maybe you will get some title like Lorelei Barthomeloi and her title of 'The Queen Of The Clock Tower' or 'The Queen' for short. • Furthermore, you have what would poetically be called 'The Will To Shatter The Stars'. There is no difficulty, no degree of opposition and no level of pain or suffering that can intimidate your intentions, once you make up your mind about something. You can do this all day long and never stop doing it, except by your own conscious choice. Forget mere 'maximum human' willpower, you are absolutely unbreakable. While remaining mentally flexible enough to not be a stubborn idiot, of course. • Your body can not be infected by any being, supernatural or not, you can not be controlled or damaged by both mental and spiritual means, your body is an immovable fortress, your mind to a library masterfully ordered and maintained, your soul is a perpetual sanctuary you can repeat as many times the change of body as Roa or do something with worms as Zouken and your soul will remain the same, you could say that it is a perfect soul for sorcery, beware, the third magic will be and will remain better by far, your soul is something that will remain the same in the face of the most extreme things, but it is not the true immortality that is the third magic, unless you dedicate your research skills to change that. • Mentally, you are able to modify and alter your mind, you can program your mind to react to whatever you want however you want, leaving mental triggers to move before they react is possible, molding it to create a disguise of some different personality is possible, you can even affect their feelings achieving a masterful mask, creating a state with a completely different personality and state of mind is easy, in case you are not sure how to mold your mind without changing you can leave safety countermeasures to go back to any previous state, if a certain thought or situation happens, you are a magician and as such, your masks to fool others are the best, if you use them wisely you could be in your best state to fight or go into a disguise that even Sherlock himself could not discover, this will not affect your will, and you cannot end up as a brain-dead fool by accident, unless that is your disguise. • A little advice, stay away from the eyes of Atlas, those alchemists will see the holy grail or the root itself, if they get to know what kind of body type you have, you will be a very wet dream for any of their researchers, they even have a motto that fits. “It's easy to get into Atlas, but impossible to get out.” • If I were you, I'd be careful with the gods, a body like yours would have them drooling or hating you, it's funny how you don't know which one is worse, it all depends on which gods notice you, god forbid, the Greeks, although they might not even come close because they're admiring you. • The reason for a mind like you have, is to hide the default personality you have as a magus, a cold being, without morals or ethics, who can do anything, this part of you will make the machines see you as the typical sentimental people, it doesn't take much to scare people in that state, people will wonder what the hell you are, what kind of being is hiding under that disguise of flesh you call skin, you can always change it if you want, although you can always hide it, your mind can never be taken advantage of by anyone other than you. • You can choose to have the potential to have true magic, you decide if you only want one or all five in total, you can decide if you want to reach them through research, that being the case you can get creative about how you carry out your research to play true magic, and, it can help you later, this is more of an option than anything else, if you want, you can appear as a user of the five true magics, although it is not said that there will be no questions of how the hell did that happen, you have a complete control of the true magics, and you know both its maximum capabilities and the smallest details about its operation. • The first magic “Denial Of Nothingness”: The first true magic, known as “The Denial Of Nothingness”, is related to the generation of an ether clusters, this includes the creation of matter and energy from nothing and the total destruction of matter and energy in nothing, the clusters of ether are conductors of magical energy. • The second magic “Kaleidoscope”: The second true magic, known as the ”Kaleidoscope” or the “Parallel Worlds Operation”, this includes traveling to alternate worlds, time travel, space-time manipulation and the ability to decide whether timelines are 'canon' or not, you can be creative how you use this, it's not too far-fetched to overlay different dimensions to play with the environment or use unlimited energy from all your universe versions to make a giant energy cannon, the only thing that What stops you is the creativity of how you could use it, you will have to be attentive because interacting with the dimensions and being able to observe everything that the multiverse can be, it can be a bit maddening, you will be protected in any way, but do not expect it to be a very happy, the dimensions have some that can make any person quite crazy, just look how his previous bearer was with the magical girls. • The third magic “Heaven's Feel”: The Third True Magic, known as the “Touch Of Heaven” or the “Manifestation Of The Soul”. This stops the inevitable dispersal of the soul once it no longer has an anchor in the world, and essentially causes it to transcend into a higher form of existence. It is a magic that realizes true immortality by turning the soul into a flat, high-dimensional being capable of interacting with the material world as a mental body without having to return to Akasha. The Sorcerer will acquire an unlimited source of magical energy because his soul becomes analogous to a perpetual motion machine, just like the previous ones, creativity will help you a lot, although with this who needs creativity when you are truly immortal, enjoy ~. • As a certain person said, I wish I had finished in the third, too bad it didn't happen • The fourth magic “White Ink”: The Fourth True Magic, known as the “White Ink”, in another universe the fourth magic is unknown, but how would you go about selecting a magic without knowing all your options? The fourth is based on the manifestation, manipulation, and alteration of concepts, you could alter the concept of water so that it burns instead of splashing (He, he, he) or you can very well create your own urban legend and add the concept 'real' to it, despite the tremendous power that you can still have to be careful, every being is sensitive, even reality itself, so press hard and don't expect to come out very well, you are powerful, but not invincible, keep that in mind, an example would be the previous user of the fourth magic that in an attempt to erase the concept of the fourth magic ended up being erased, it failed to eliminate the fourth magic, but the world ended up forgetting its capabilities due to certain parts that were erased. (Credit goes to AcausalTrillby at fanfiction.net for the inspiration with his story called White Ink) • The fifth magic “Blue Magic”: The Fifth True Magic, known as the “Blue Magic” allows free manipulation of energy/heat without worrying about the order imposed by the arrow of time of thermodynamics (represented by the Second Law), and, thus leading in particular to time manipulation, as opposed to relativistic time travel, Aoko Aosaki managed to affect space-time with this magic, and you can too if you put your mind to it, just be careful you don't want to extinguish life on earth, right? • “The Sixth True Magic”: Currently non-existent, a path to the Root will be granted. You can get close to him, but you must not touch him. By doing so, you will gain access to a new True Magic. It is speculated that the Sixth True Magic might be a magic that can bring happiness to everyone. This may or may not be the case. The magic has to be something unattainable by mundane or thaumaturgical means, as long as those criteria are met you can create the sixth magic, since you are creating something new and not reusing the five magics, this will be the one with which you connect the most, don't get me wrong, if you choose any of the other five, you will have no limits or problems when handling it, in fact you could take it to heights never seen before, only this being your creation, you will be more connected and you, and only you will be the person capable of using it, you are the creator of the sixth magic be proud. • Note something, the first, and fifth are similar in that a path to the root, an Akasha gate, originated and magic was obtained upon its arrival, while the second, third, and fourth were produced as a half to get to that place, however insignificant it may sound to some, this has its own weight in how your magic interacts with you, you may be able to touch or see the path to the Root, or you may try to recreate the means to reach the Root, be careful with that, people smarter than you tried, and they didn't end very well. • It can be said that magicians have become the adversaries of the planet, and by having magic, as redundant as it sounds, you have become a magician, something that the human mind would not normally be able to carry as a burden. Carrying such a power is the recklessness of changing the world, as such, from the moment you obtain true magic, you are destined to go through great things or most likely to affect the entire world, whether the change is good or bad, it will depend on what you decide. • Becoming a magician is something that must be thought carefully, it is a mantle, and it is raw power that will undoubtedly affect how you see the world or how the world sees you, you are entering forbidden territory for human hands, it is the land of gods, so unless you want to fight against gods or planets, think about it a bit before making your choice, and of course, you have some duties with humanity, it's not mandatory, but you can at least look at them once or twice, so they don't get killed or end up committing suicide. • You can grant one magic per person by creating five or six wizards who will be loyal to you until death, you can remove that magic whenever you want and however you want, although at least tell them what you are giving them, you do not want extradimensional accidents or extinction of life on earth, you can always decide to ignore this advice and have fun with the results. • You are by far the most talented and predisposed being to magic, your talent, ingenuity, and creativity have no comparison, your sense, and intuition regarding magecraft is undoubtedly superior, your mind has a library with all the magical knowledge of the entire verse from TYPE-MOON, whatever reality it is, it can be a bit overwhelming, but you get used to it, god forbid you can follow in the footsteps of Lorelei and focus on basic magecraft or some specific theme and develop it so much that you become the Bruce Lee of magic with 'Repeat a kick a thousand times', of course with your talent that can reach true magic levels very quickly, with any magic. • You can connect and adapt to any existing thaumaturgical foundation, yes, that includes the church, this would allow you to use any existing spell as long as you are connected to the foundation of that respective spell, be it sorcery, from Chinese philosophy magecraft, traditional Japanese magecraft and of course the one practiced by the clock tower, there is no foundation that you do not know and to which you cannot connect, if you do not like any, you can create your own thaumaturgical foundation with the rules and implications that you want and although technically it would be impossible, your own willpower is enough to maintain that foundation, if you decide to make that foundation your primary method of practicing magic, with your willpower involved, believe me, there will be no end to how strong you can become, and that applies to every foundation you connect to, you can revive a foundation on the verge of death to its best moment and take it to something much better. • Established and long-standing foundations will be more likely to connect and improve, they may not be as versatile, focusing only on their field as the church that is dedicated to something more spiritual, so be aware that you would spend a lot of time and resources originating a new foundation that connecting and empowering an existing one, each one has its cons and its pluses. • As a great magus you don't always have to depend on a large mound of magic circuits for everything, you can use the quantifiable energy of the Soul; the pseudo-spiritrons to design organisms or stronger objects, as the alchemists of Atlas do, you can also be like hackers and enter the network practicing their code-cast method, whenever you cannot or do not want to use your magic circuits you will find another way to practice sorcery, very well you can practice some method of “Walk and Breathe” to try to become a Xian, whatever method you choose you can take it to unimaginable heights without relying on your magic circuits, and with your talent you can do wonders. • It is true that you can work without magic circuits, you could very well become the best spell caster without even using them even once in your life, but it is better to use every resource you have and magic circuits are part of those resources, your circuits are special, unique in its kind, you will start with fifty magic circuits “Blue Bloods: Noble Magic Circuits”, being the best of the best, what differentiates it from the others is that your magic circuits are improved and shaped the more you use them, these circuits they will grow, improve and multiply, the very environment where you are will affect them and will affect their growth, they may become a “Magic Nucleus” or for some strange reason a “Magic Reactor”, there is also the possibility of becoming “Regression to the Age of Gods”. Allowing you to reproduce the existing mysteries before the age of man, it is certain that they will become what you want and that they will continually improve, in case they are damaged, or you do not have magic circuits they will begin to sprout or self-repair always looking for a way to advance, they may even be influenced by your origin. • As you have undoubtedly noticed, your magic circuits are not natural, this will not affect your form of sorcery in any negative way, who knows, you may reach some level higher than “Blue Bloods: Noble Magic Circuits” magic circuits are used to connect to the thaumaturgical foundation, you will see a rapid adaptation and improvement, the more you use them with a specific foundation, maybe even adopt some characteristics of said foundation. • You can create magic circuits through research and development and implant them in a host, but such a thing would be for someone else, because yours are already on their way to the best of the best. • This also affects how much magical energy you use, to make a comparison, the average mage has 20 units of magical energy, Ciel had 5000 units, you have 10000, and it will always improve according to your magic circuits, as a respected magus you must have enough energy to sustain any research or spell you want. • You can change your origin, it is true that the origin is the starting point that defines one's existence and directs one's actions throughout life. It is the driving force that comes from within the Root, which has managed to sprout from the Source and take material form, but you can change it, unlike other people you can trace your origin to the Root and exchange it for something that is more convenient, ok to see changes, so you will have to be careful, but at least you can change it for anything you want, be it creature, emotion or concept, you can even keep several at the same time, although you would have to be careful, the origin may end waking up if you swap it too much or if you have several, and they manage to sync up, you're a never-before-seen case, so crazy things can happen. • If a person ends up awakening their Origin, it becomes nearly impossible to deviate from their Origin, if even possible in the first place. It becomes an impulsive behavior that one would follow as if it were an absolute order, it has to be taken into account that if you achieved such a thing you would gain superhuman abilities according to your origin, the defense mechanism that you have will save you at some point after awakening your origin, the defense mechanism returns your origin to its state before waking up, you can program it so that it takes days or months to put your origin to sleep again, keep that in mind, the origin has to be treated with care. • Element, the elements are somewhat easier to deal with and without as much danger as the origins, by default you are an average with the five elements, fire, water, earth, air, and ether and just as before you can exchange and modify them to your liking it is better not to overlap an exaggerated number of elements, but at least you are not in as much danger as with the origins, the element is the type of magic with which you are more predisposed and which one you are better at, it should be noted that different cultures handle in different ways the elements, so there is a variety of elements with the same name, you will have to be more specific when changing the element. • The elements are not so rigid when it comes to making magecraft, if we put as an example that you have water as an element and that you want to learn spells more inclined with fire, you can, but it will cost more, although that is not your case, it should also be remembered that the elements are more than the name of said element itself, water is the fluidity and control of liquids, the other elements are something similar, only with their own peculiarities, there are elements as unique as sword or hollow, so who knows What things can you achieve if you start being creative. • Origins and elements are connected, so if you have the same origin and the same element, you will notice that your magic will have a boost on anything bordering on that field, although you run the risk of over-specializing, an example would be demon origin and demon element, you will find that you could do spectacular things with demonology, although you won't be able to do much with any kind of sorcery not associated with demons. • You are an artist when it comes to creating things, you would fit very well with Atlas, just like them, you are able to create things that could bring about the destruction of the world seven times, there is no limit in what you are able to build, from mystical supergiant codes like the “Foundation of Philosophy” up to the seven weapons of Atlas, it would be possible within your capabilities to start theorizing how to create Noble Phantasms or recreate them, very well you can do like the hikikomori of Caubac and create your own holy scriptures, or you can be like Zelretch troll and create items about magical girls or whatever you prefer, you can create the philosophical keys or magical crests or create something new based on it. • Theoretically, you are able to build anything shown in TYPE-MOON that is supernatural, and this includes everything from a simple pistol to the MOON CELL itself, and always with the ability to innovate, improve, or create something entirely new. • The “Philosophy Foundation” generated by the Xian in the land of China is essentially a simulation of an artificial Root. The Xians worked together as a group to build it. Instead of connecting to the Root using the gods as a relay, as civilizations in the Age of Gods did, the Xian produced their system of magic by building a Supergiant Mystic Code that merges with the planet. That is the Philosophy Foundation. • You are able to break down any magic you see or theorize into its most basic components, you may very well be called the second coming of Waver, for what you can do, with your talents it would not be difficult to dissect any magic you see down to its most basic concepts, being able to recreate it if you decide to do such a thing, you can always see ways to improve or modify it, but there is no magic that you don't see that you don't understand. • It has been said that anything magecraft can do technology can do and vice versa, you understand that principle well, you are capable of achieving anything science achieves through magecraft, any technology you see will only give you new and innovative ideas to achieve it through magecraft. • An example would be Apollo 11, you can imitate such a thing with magecraft, a space teleportation to reach the moon or some strange chimera that can take you, to know if you can do something else with astrology, true magic may end up dying, but magecraft it will be maintained and will continue to advance as long as you exist and science exists. • A magus is a scholar above all else, as a magus your main skill will be the investigation of sorcery in order to get to the root, you are a born investigator knowing every detail of the book by heart, a slight passing glance is enough to remember it whenever you want without need at a second glance, and not only that, you understand them to their very core, anything you don't know, you only need to investigate it to learn, as a researcher your handwriting will be relentless, your notes will be the finer details, and you can always do a thesis about a thousand and one ways to get to the root, you know for shit and giggles. • You unconsciously organize your work space, you will not be the typical researcher with your head in the clouds and with a workshop more messy than your room, no, your workshop is a perfect example of order, organized to the millimeter without you realizing it, this is also gone to all your jobs, no leaving dangerous things lying around unprotected or having all your tools dirty and messy, you know what they say, a tidy space is a safe space, and you have exemplary security. • You are a good teacher, you see the talent of people, their potential, and you can show that by bringing out all that talent, just like Waver you are an exceptional teacher when it comes to teaching, even the dumbest and most talentless person can become even a Lord, a person with real talent and a good head on his shoulders can very well get to Marshall just like Zelretch and Lorelei, of course as long as he listens to your lessons. • In addition to research you can focus your skills to develop many elements in any field you choose, on top of that you will never see any unwanted side effects or stalling your research, you see possibilities in mistakes, small delays in full stalls of a sorcery, potential in drawbacks, every mistake, bump, or snag in your eyes will become a possibility that may very well take your research to new heights. • Example: you can focus on martial arts, create something like the Nanaya killing arts, even recreate the Nanaya arts themselves, use pre-existing martial arts to give them mystical effects, it's very viable, you can create your own mystical martial arts. Assessing an enemy in the middle of a fight is easy for you, developing countermeasures against him or finding weaknesses you can exploit (If you have “The Mystic Eyes Of Death Perception” or something similar, you can find new lines of death or develop them in your enemy yourself) there is no field in which you cannot apply your talents. • Optionally, you can create a workshop, a workshop is a place where the magus carry out their research, it is a sacred place that any self-respecting magus will never let anyone enter, yours is impenetrable and untouchable, unless you allow it, at first you can design it inside as you like either as some ancient place of study or as a modern laboratory, your workshop is a subspace between dimensions, impossible for any being to find, no matter where you go you can access to your workshop from anywhere, be it places as remote as the bottom of the ocean, some forest, or desert forgotten by the hand of God or space itself, you just have to call it the way you want, a door will open where you can enter, you can modify this entrance as you want, needing a key or only access from a certain door when you want, and always having the flexibility so that you can modify it to your g you. • Your workshop has books on every possible sorcery and various ways to implement it, even notes for a beginner to practice little by little and build slowly, along with manuals and various articles for learning, it also has information on magus policy or data from the world both known and not, there is a lot of knowledge that will serve you, and not all of it is necessarily sorcery, at your option, all of TYPE-MOON's knowledge can be here in book formats or any other form you want, the workshop It will have any material or tool you require, and just like before it ranges from the most exotic never thinkable to the most normal, after spending that material it will recharge regularly, so you never have to worry about running out of resources. • In case you want something different, you can create your own workshop in the way you want, building both its defenses and places where you will store your knowledge and carry out your research, when you finish, the construction will gain the same benefits as if you had it. Given, these are undetectable and impenetrable. • Your workshop is a place for any outside creature not to enter and for anything inside not to leave, the workshop is something that you can change to your liking both in appearance, space and time, you can even change concepts within your own workshop, convert your ceiling a gateway to space, so you can admire any star from near or far, you can't be harmed inside your own workshop so the vacuum of space or the sun's rays would do little or nothing to you. • A magician walks with death, you among the many magus out there, you are sensitive to danger, you know very well when something can go wrong, you detect it like a bloodhound, whether it is a migraine, a slight smell or daring visions of the mirrors of what could go wrong, whatever method you choose, you know something will go wrong, and you know what will cause it, there is no longer any danger of experiments or ambushes, your sense of danger will alert you whenever death is near you, there will be no moments either late or too early, this gives you the right time, and also something of how to go out, there is nothing impossible to avoid death here. • You can leave marks on people so that they also notify you if they are in danger, you decide if the same person is aware of the danger or not. • You can say if you want to be like Akiha Tohno and I will become a half-breed with the blood of some mythical or supernatural beast, this will give you certain unique abilities depending on the blood you decide, it will also give you a stronger connection to the mystery, your instincts will be controllable and will not cause any problem, although they can always be useful, it is always curious to know what those senses perceive that is not detectable by humans. • Optionally, you can decide if you want to do some research to fully become that creature, an example being becoming a dead apostle like Gransurg Blackmore did. • You can give people mythical blood if you want to do something with it, you can always control them and take that power away from them if they rebel. • Despite the fact that many magus dislikes it, politics is present within their society, you are the one who governs that, words are an art that you master, you are the best, it is simple to deceive or convince people, you know how people think. People, you know what they want, you know how to guide their thoughts or group a group of people with certain ideas, you know by heart every law, every line, every letter of every word and every political loophole that you can take advantage of with all that, move in the world politician, it's not very difficult, you control it well, you can be considered a control demon for how well you handle everything. • If you don't want to touch politics, that's fine, you know enough to move in society, it's simple to fake smiles or emotions, deceiving people is second nature, making them believe that you are like them, without any problem and with a normal life it's surprisingly easy, if you don't want to fool anyone that's fine, just with the security you show you would eventually have some group of trustworthy friends. • Sometimes it is difficult to know if a decision is good, until after seeing what happens, not for you, the decisions you make, are made under detailed scrutiny, your decisions will no longer have the doubt of whether you did it right, and even if for some strange reason some bad decision goes through your detailed study, you will have a sixth sense that will constantly warn you not to choose it, it will be your decision after that. • If ever it is not enough to stick to the laws, you know how to do everything in a more criminal way, blackmail, extortion, threaten, etc. you know every dirty trick in the book, in fact you wrote the book, you know it backwards and forwards, the underworld has its own laws, and you know them like the back of your hand, your very well can create your own mafia and promote it by the underworld, and when it's not enough to talk, well, it's an easier way to just permanently eliminate every person or group that opposes, not that anyone finds out if you want. • You know people's minds, you know how they think, you know what they want, and you can notice very clearly when some thought of betrayal passes through their pretty little head now condemned, you can tell if they have a plan or if they are trying to influence you, not because of some strange ability but because you simply know how the human being works, there is no person that you cannot understand, just one look and the personality of any person remains in your eyes, abnormal cases like Shirou Emiya is simply looking at them from a slightly different perspective, it is easy to You play with those thoughts, moving some person from one place to another like a puppet is quite a fun hobby, turning the most cowardly person into something much worse than Shirou with his sense of heroism and his lack of self-preservation is simple, the most calm and good-hearted person under your hands can be left as Kirei Kotomine with no moral limit as to how much evil is enough, h woe to whoever makes you angry, you know enough about the human being to create a real hell with simple words, people tend to think that words cannot cause so much damage, after all, words are not as effective as a sword According to them, it is sometimes easy to forget that a few simple words caused the fall of Camelot. • Trade is not so attached to the magus, but it is better to have money and be like Luvia using money from one side to the other, not be like Rin and wonder if you can last until the end of the month paying attention to each expense you make, the world of commerce opens its huge golden doors to you, you know money, you know how money is managed, you know where there are opportunities or how to create them yourself, you know where definitely not to be around to keep the money you have and avoid losses. • You have what can be said, a golden luck, the lottery, prizes, or just finding a dollar on the street, money comes to you passively, you can control how much comes to you, from a simple five dollars to millions, someone can suspect, but you will still be rich, so there will not be so many problems. • You know every dollar, every coin by heart, down to the tiniest penny, you keep it in mind when you do the math, which makes you very good with numbers, but pluses aside, you keep every bit of your money in mind, so that if any bills or coins go missing you'll notice quickly, so it's easy to spot if some fool is having a funny idea about your money. • Furthermore, you are the best at handling money, you can very well copy the Harweys and get 60% of the planet or more, there will be opposition, but if you use this, plus your political skills, you can very well do it without anyone noticing. • Mystery is what allows magecraft, the crystallization of belief, so it is undeniable to say that without mystery there is no magecraft or magic, as time passes and technology advances, the mystery gradually evaporates from this world, a risk for the magus, because their job lies in the very existence of the mystery, that is a danger that does not apply to you, your mere existence revives the mystery, you are like a plant only instead of expelling air, you expel mystery, this is something you can control, such as applying it only to your actions or that it spreads throughout the world or only to an area in general, you decide. • Be careful not to spread it around the world, the revival of the mystery can revive some troublesome things, most likely you can irreparably affect the world itself, the planet itself will be affected by such an action. • If you decide to enclose the mystery in an area, in that small area the mystery will begin to accumulate, affecting everything that is inside, each plant, each animal, each insect, even the smallest being can be affected. • Since the mystery comes from you, every creature that is impacted by the mystery you produce will feel a feeling of loyalty towards you, the probability that they will not be loyal to you is close to zero, they may see you as a divine being, which is god to humans, at worst they will be of no use to you, but they will still refuse to harm you. • You have more security against Gaia and Alaya, they will be softer when it comes to judging whether to eliminate you, you can be much more reckless than the rest of the magicians and unless you do something extreme like endangering the entire planet or humanity itself, none attack, they will stay away and not bother you, they will watch you it is true, but they will never interfere with anything you do as long as you do not go too far, this includes that Alaya cannot prune the timeline where you are, you are an immutable being when it comes to damaging the timeline, the incineration of humanity or the Lostbelt will do nothing to you, you are protected from that by sending you to another time and space, you will be displaced through time to the point of origin where that timeline was damaged, the singularities, very well you can solve it or just observe while you continue with your investigation while you wait to be sent to another space-time, in case it is solved you will return to where you were before all this happened, and in case that timeline is doomed you will be sent to another timeline that is not in danger. • Your powers cannot be stolen, deleted, copied or anything like that, you will have constant protection against negative effects, in case something unexpected happens, you will be randomly teleported, your powers will return, eventually, they always return. • Without perfection, nothing you build is ever perfect, it never will be, nor are you perfect, perfection is a limiting factor, when perfection arrives there is nothing else, that is why you can break perfection being able to grow unlimitedly, there is no limit in terms of you can grow or improve pre-existing things because in principle there is no end for you, and although some may say that there must be an end, a point at which you will eventually reach perfection by not being able to improve anymore, they are wrong, as simple beings, his imagination, his head can only come to that conclusion, that there is a limit, but not you, the limits seen in mortal eyes do not apply, you see an infinite path, the root itself is infinite and constantly growing, because you cannot be equal to her and have no limits in your growth, without perfection, without limits, a perpetual growth.

Etymology and other trivia:
  • Tachyon Primal is named after PRIMAL ORIGIN, the OCG booster set in which Chaos Numbers 107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon was first released. Its artwork is based on the obscured Numbers 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon which appeared in the first opening of ZEXAL II, prior to the monster's first appearance in the anime. It could also be based on the "Dragon of Time", the previous form of Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon before it became an Over-Hundred Numbers.
  • Cloudragon is a portmanteau of cloud and dragon, and a counterpart to Galaxy-Eyes Cloudragon.
  • Schwarzschild is named after the Schwarzschild radius—the radius of an object such that, if all its mass were compressed within that radius, the escape velocity would equal the speed of light. The name also refers to a Schwarzschild black hole—a black hole that has neither electric charge nor angular momentum (non-rotating). Its title of Infinity Dragon serves as a contrast to the original Schwarzschild the Limit Dragon.
  • Dragluxion is named after a luxon—any particle that travels at exactly the speed of light and has zero mass (photons, gluons, and gravitons). The monster's appearance is based on the original Numbers 46: Divine Shadow Dragon - Dragluon adorned with a gold armor resembling Neo Tachyon's. It also slightly resembles Numbers 100: Numeron Dragon, referring to the legend surrounding these dragons in the anime, with Numeron Dragon being considered the true form of the Galaxy-Eyes. Its title of Golden Dragon is read jinlong in Chinese, referring to the character called Jinlong from the ZEXAL anime, who used Dragluon in his Duel against Kaito and was revealed to be the dragon itself personified.
  • Tachyon Spiral of Eradication is the attack name of Numbers 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon in the anime.
  • Seventh Tachyon's artwork depicts a scene from the ZEXAL anime in which a cloaked Mizael materializes and seals Numbers 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon inside a card.
  • Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy is named after the core booster set in which Numbers 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon was first released (as well as being its cover card). The artwork is based on a scene in which Tachyon Dragon uses its time-rewinding effect during Mizael's first Duel against Kaito.
  • The new artwork for Numbers 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon comes from an official 2014 OCG playmat.
  • X - Cross Cannon is named after the fact the English term cross is sometimes denoted with the letter X in Japanese media.
  • Y - Dragon Yearhead might be named that way due to 2024 being the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese calendar.
  • XYZ - Hyper Dragon Cannon's name is a mix of XYZ - Dragon Cannon with its attack name in the anime/manga: X·Y·Z Hyper Cannon.
  • Union Controller's artwork depicts a scene from the Duel Monsters manga in which Kaiba uses his Enemy Controller to take back control of X - Head Cannon after Yugi had stolen it from his field, during their Duel in the Battle City semifinals.
  • Union Activation's second effect is a reference to how in the anime and manga, XYZ - Dragon Cannon was treated as three sacrifices for the summon of Kaiba's The Giant God Soldier of Obelisk.
  • Hoodie is named after monkshood, one of the names of Aconitum (also known as aconite or wolfsbane)—a genus of poisonous perennial plants with a distinctive helmet-like shape.
  • Aqua Angel is based on Aqua, one of the Ignis from the VRAINS anime who became Aoi Zaizen's partner and gave her the Marincess cards. Her second effect of revealing the opponent's hand and face-down cards is a reference to Aqua's ability to read people's minds.
  • Drummatis is a portmanteau of drum or drummer and Clematis—a genus within the buttercup famiily, composed of mostly vigorous, woody, climbing vines and lianas.
  • Colchica is named after Colchicum—a genus of perennial flowering plants (which includes the autumn crocus and similar plants) that grow from bulb-like corms.
  • Noble Angel (Nōburu Enjeru) sounds similar to Blue Angel (Burū Enjeru) in Japanese, which was Aoi Zaizen's first avatar name in LINK VRAINS.
  • The Maiden with Blue Tears is a reference to Blue Maiden—Aoi Zaizen's third avatar name in LINK VRAINS—as well as a reference to The Angel with Blue Tears, a fairy tale book from Aoi Zaizen's childhood that she used as inspiration for her Blue Angel persona.

V Jump July 2024 Edition bonus card

Etymology:
  • Detonizing Kuribo's (Kiraikasuru Kuribō) artwork depicts a scene from the Duel Monsters anime/manga in which the many Kuribo clones created by Dark Yugi's Multiplication are absorbed by Pegasus's Thousand-Eyes Sacrifice. Kuribo's special ability at the time was called Detonization (Kiraika, lit. "mine transformation"), allowing it and its clones to blow themselves up and completely neutralize all of Thousand-Eyes Sacrifice's magical eyes.

2024.05.28 19:22 j_thelastdragon Bad experience in reading Malayalam newspapers. Is it mandatory for the Malayalam dailies to be in Malayalam?

I am a migrant malayali who only studied Malayalam until my undergrad and have moved on to greener pastures outside kerala. Now after coming back to Kerala for personal reasons here is the challenge I'm finding in reading news in Malayalam in Malayalam newspapers.
Navigating Malayalam newspapers poses a formidable challenge for non-native readers due to the intricacies of the script. The amalgamation of letters into complex ligatures creates a barrier to comprehension, limiting access to valuable information. Advocating for English-language printing in Malayalam newspapers addresses this accessibility gap, fostering wider readership and understanding beyond regional confines. While honoring Malayalam's cultural significance remains crucial, embracing English as the medium of news dissemination promotes inclusivity and global engagement.
Translating Malayalam news into English ensures that content reaches a broader audience, transcending linguistic barriers and facilitating comprehension for diverse readers. This adaptation aligns with contemporary communication needs while preserving the essence of Malayalam journalism. Bilingual formats can serve as a bridge, offering options for both traditionalists and those seeking accessibility.
By prioritizing accessibility and comprehension, Malayalam newspapers can uphold their journalistic integrity while adapting to the evolving needs of a diverse readership. Embracing English as the language of news dissemination not only expands the reach of Malayalam journalism but also fosters cross-cultural exchange and understanding in an increasingly interconnected world.

2024.05.28 18:55 nflip3 [QCrit] Illustrated Poems/Picture Book? The Cat Who Caught A Ghost 800 First Attempt

Hey all,
I illustrate comics @iizcat starting my cat Minnie. I’ve built a decent social media following and one of my dreams is to get a collection published. I have a few illustrated poems that I’ve completed. Here is my query letter attempt… (I feel like I’m completely missing the mark here)
The project I am submitting is a collection of illustrated poems that star my cat, Minnie, from @iizcat.
@iizcat is a popular social media personality that features videos, comics, and pictures of Minnie. @iizcat has over 230k YouTube subscribers, 118k Instagram followers, over 350k Facebook followers, and 75k TikTok followers.
The five samples below are poems I wrote and illustrated called “The Night The Cat Was Abducted”, “The Cat In The Window”, “The Cat Who Caught A Ghost”, “The Cat And The Nutcracker”, and “The Cat Behind The Mirror”. A few of these poems have gone viral on social media including Reddit and Imgur.
I like to write about and from the perspective of my mischievous cat, Minnie. Minnie’s comics started as little doodles on the whiteboard of my refrigerator of my old apartment. Those doodles made my wife laugh and she encouraged me to draw them as comics and share them on social media. I was hesitant at first due to my colorblindness but I’m glad I took the leap because the comics of Minnie have gained a loyal following.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Thanks,
iizcat
Synopsis:
The Cat In The Window - a spin on Alfred Hitchcock's movie, "Rear Window", Minnie the cat likes to spy on her neighbors and learns to stay away from apartment 408, the home of Mr. Kipper who has a suspicious looking zipper under his hat. iizcat blog post
The Cat Who Caught A Ghost - Minnie's dad wakes up to the howling and moaning of a ghost at the foot of his bed. Minnie somehow caught a ghost and Minnie's dad is left to deal with the consequences. iizcat blog post
The Night The Cat Was Abducted - Minnie hears strange noises on the roof and goes out the cat door to investigate. She discovers 3 little aliens that take her on the trip of a lifetime. iizcat blog post
The Cat And The Nutcracker - a spin on the classic Nutcracker Christmas story, Minnie is awoken to the march of the Nutcrackers as they move towards the basement door. Something is trying to get out and Minnie is thrust into the chaos. iizcat blog post
The Cat Behind The Mirror – a short little 4 panel poem of Minnie’s humorous encounter with a mirror and the cat that lives behind it. iizcat blog post

2024.05.28 18:35 MonoD3do About the Armitage compilations situation

About the Armitage compilations situation
Hi, I am the guy behind the original Armitage channel. No, I am not making a new channel. Once I made the second one, I said that if the second one got nuked too, I wouldn't make a third one. The first one got deleted for adult content(rule 34?), the second for false impersonation or something like that(wtf?). Maybe they both got nuked because the fans mass reported the channels? The compilations were getting massive numbers of views, and "stop stealing" comments were everywhere. Guess we will never know for sure.
How do we know you are who you say you are? Besides the "trust me, bro". I can share a print of my folder with the Vegas files I used to make the compilations. Also, you may remember my thumbnails had the crew in the corner, just the original four dudes. I'll share that in PNG format with no background, both for the Inside Gaming and Funhaus eras, feel free to use it.
What is this all about? Transparency. If you followed the original channel, I had stated that people could and should download the compilations, the idea was for the content not to vanish, like most of the Inside Gaming content did. So, I have no issues with re-uploads, since I don't own anything. And even if I had a problem with it, there is nothing I could do, besides make a fool of myself online.
Monetization BUT, I also stated several times, that the channel wasn't monetized, and I wouldn't open any sort of donation system. I never intended to make money out of it. Several channels have being doing montages and compilations way before me, and most of those channels have donations systems in place, and this is none of my business. I also don't care if my compilations get re-uploaded and monetized, since eventually, Warner may delete/private the original content, so it will become vaporware.
In conclusion After the RT end, some channels are renaming themselves to just "Armitage" and using the original logo that I used, clearly pretending to be the original channel, without any mention on the description of the channel or videos, that they are not the original channel. I have no ownership of the logo or name. The logo is just something I found on Google images, you just have to type "letter A TikTok style" and dig in to find it. So, the purpose of this post is just to clarify that everything Armitage/Funhaus related you find online, has nothing to do with the original channel/me.
Why post this? I was watching the compilations on other channels, and it kept knocking on the back of my head that the "brand" that was initially associated with preservation, is now on the loose for monetization. So, just to make it clear that I was not lying about not making money out of it, and the original intention, preservation, was and still is honest.
What's next? On YouTube sphere, nothing. I am trying to set up a library on Plex or Jellyfin, so the content can be well organized. There are a lot of fandom websites listing their content, so I want to organize everything locally, in case those websites vanish as well. The idea is to have a main library for Funhaus with the shows inside, divided by seasons, with will be the year of release. Same thing for gameplay, so a "show" for GTA and all the game plays in there. Anyone know of any good tutorials on how to set custom category/libraries on Plex or Jellyfin?

2024.05.28 17:27 SufficientPaint9415 My first actual relationship!

I has fallen in love with my best friend, Ash, who did confessed to me that she loved me (but it was already revealed by her sister, so she felt it was forced out of her), but she then made herself uncontactable; she wouldn't answer and was hiding. I think she was afraid as I had never expressed (or at that point felt) romantic love for her. But from knowing about it, it bloomed into my chest and I just could stop thinking about her.
I choose to write a letter and gave it to her father. That day she sent a simple thanks, but to me it meant the world.
So I then made several physical photo albums and ecentric scrapbooks, over a couple weeks, and sent them to her. We then started to message each other again, but it was mostly pleasantries and nothing serious. I continued to create things that she liked; drawings, silly "scrap" scultures and some poems with her favorite references and inside jokes (they aren't great, so unsure if I want anyone else to read them) and gave them to her mother and/or father.
My sister kinda teased me about falling hard ("straight to the molten core") and she harped on me to try to visit Ash. But I'm a coward, at least when it comes to Ash.
She came to my home for exactly 6 days ago; taking with her several of the scrapbooks and homemade gifts, and we talked. Oh how we talked; spent the evening talking and even talked a couple of hours into the night. It all feels like a blurr, we discussed our entire past and when through the albums and scrapbooks. It was beyond refreshing. Over the time we talked we kinda attached to eachother. I'm not completely sure of the complete series of events, cause it happened so natural I didn't realize it, but first our hands touched eachother while looking through the album and we just completed each action, our hand meeting. I'm sure I blushed the first time but then it just got lost and she ended up half in my lap, her head on me should and my hand going from her back and into her hair and back down, while she softly held on to my left arm. We cuddled like that and then it happened! She kissed my cheek and we just stilled. At that point the rope that keept most of the affection at bay snapped. I turned her around and just kissed her, right on the lips. It was magical, and I just couldn't stop. Of course I had to be "adorkable" (her words, not mine) and professed my eternal love (so damn cheesy, looking back now its so embarassing) to her. She cried and sorta knocked me to "the ground" (couch, but that doesn't sound as dramatic). Well, she reciprocated my feelings (kinda obvious, but still, I need to mention it every time, I just can't believe it ❤️)
We have been spending some time together and recently had our first date and I can't stop smiling ❤️
Love you all ❤️ (maybe weird to say, but I just want everyone to feel at least on ounce of what I feel) ❤️

Merci d'avance!

2024.05.28 16:21 KateVirginiaLivin New York Times Historical Archives - The Same Articles Over the Decades

I've gone down the rabbit hole on the New York Times online archive and it's amazing how little is there before the big "expose" in 2017. There are ZERO articles relating to some of the most widely reported UFO stories like Kenneth Arnold's Mount Ranier sighting. The first reference to the Roswell crash is a 1987 article is a culture piece about people's interest in UFOs.
Below is a long article from 1979 that could have been written today. The same misinformation from the government, the same promise to make a more scientific study (while promising that that study had not already been taking place....)

U.F.O. FILES: THE UNTOLD STORY

By Patrick Huyghe
Patrick Huyghe is a freelance writer in New York.
The Defense Department message bears the classification CONFIDENTIAL. “Subject: Suspicious Unknown Air Activity.” Dated Nov. 11, 1975, it reads:
“Since 28 Oct 75 numerous reports of suspicious objects have been received at the NORAD COC [North American Air Defense Combat Operations Center]. Reliable military personnel at Loring AFB [Air Force Base], Maine, Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan, Malmstrom AFB, [Montana], Minot AFB, [North Dakota], and Canadian Forces Station, Falconbridge, Ontario, Canada, have visually sighted suspicious objects.
“Objects at Loring and Wurtsmith were characterized to be helicopters. Missile site personnel, security alert teams and Air Defense personnel at Malmstrom Montana reported object which sounded like a jet aircraft. FAA advised ‘There were no jet aircraft in the vicinity.’ Malmstrom search and height finder radars carried the object between 9,000 ft and 15,600 ft at a speed of seven knots. ... F‐106s scrambled from Malmstrom could not make contact due to darkness and low altitude. Site personnel reported the objects as low as 200 ft and said that as the interceptors approached the lights went out. After the interceptors had passed the lights came on again. One hour after the F‐106s returned to base, missile site personnel reported the object increased to a high speed, raised in altitude and could not be discerned from the stars....
“I have expressed my concern to SAFOI [Air Force Information Office] that we come up soonest with a proposed answer to queries from the press to prevent overreaction by the public to reports by the media that may be blown out of proportion. To date efforts by Air Guard helicopters, SAC [Strategic Air Command] helicopters and NORAD F‐106s have failed to produce positive ID.”
Though officials have long denied that they take ‘flying saucers’ seriously, declassified documents now reveal extensive Government concern over the phenomenon.
Numerous daily updates kept the Joint Chiefs of Staff informed of these incursions by U.F.O.'s in the fall of 1975. Representatives of the Defense Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency as well as a handful of other Government desks received copies of the National Military Command Center's reports on the incidents. One report said that an unidentified object “demonstrated a clear intent in the weapons storage area.” Though Air Force records show that the C.I.A. was notified several times of these penetrations over nuclear missile and bomber bases, the agency has acknowledged only one such notification. Subsequent investigations by the Air Force into the sightings at Loring Air Force Base, Maine, where the remarkable series of events began, did not reveal a cause for the sightings.
Despite official pronouncements for decades that U.F.O.'s were nothing more than misidentified aerial objects and as such were no cause for alarm, recently declassified U.F.O. records from the C.I.A., the F.B.I. and other Federal agencies indicate that, ever since U.F.O.'s made their appearance in our skies in the 1940's, the phenomenon has aroused much serious behind‐the‐scenes concern in official circles. Details of the intelligence community's protracted obsession with the subject of U.F.O.'s have emerged over the past few years with the release of long‐withheld Government records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. Though these papers fail to resolve the U.F.O. enigma, they do manage to dispel many popular notions about the U.F.O. controversy, as well as give substance to a number of others. Official records now available appear to put to rest doubts that the Government knew more about U.F.O.'s than it has claimed over the past 32 years. From the start, it has been convinced that most U.F.O. sightings could be explained in terms of misidentified balloons, cloud formations, airplanes, ball lightning, meteors and other natural phenomena.
But the papers also show that the Government remains perplexed about the nagging residue of unexplained U.F.O. sightings, which amount to approximately 10 percent of all U.F.O. sightings reported. Do they pose a threat to national security? Are they just a funny‐looking cover for an airborne Soviet presence? Even the possibility that these unknowns could be evidence of extraterrestrial visitations has been given serious attention in Government circles. While official interest in U.F.O.'s has long been thought to be strictly the concern of the Air Force, the bulk of whose records has been open to public view for nearly a decade, the recently released papers on U.F.O.'s indicate otherwise. The Departments of the Army, Navy, State and Defense, and the Defense Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the F.B.I., the C.I.A. and even the Atomic Energy Commission produced U.F.O. records over the years. Many of these agencies still do, and many of their documents remain classified. But it is the C.I.A. that appears to have played the key role in the controversy, and may even be responsible for the Government's conduct in U.F.O. investigations throughout the
U.F.O's have been the province of the nation's intelligence community ever since the beginning of the cold war, when the notion took hold that some flying saucers might actually represent a secret, technologically advanced, foreign weapons system. “Every time we were concerned,” recalls Herbert Scoville Jr., a former chief of the C.I.A.'s Office of Scientific Intelligence, “it was because we wanted to know: Did the Russians do it?”
As the cold war gave rise to the fears of the McCarthy era, official concern over U.F.O.'s even led to the surveillance of several private U.F.O. organizations (as many of their members have long insisted) and to the scrutiny of dozens of individuals suspected of subversive U.F.O. activities.
Perhaps most telling of all, the Government documents on U.F.O.'s reveal that despite official denials to the contrary, Federal agencies continue to monitor the phenomenon to this day.
The monumental task of unearthing the newest batch of records on U.F.O.'s from a bureaucracy that has for years denied their existence can be traced to the efforts of a handful of inquisitive individuals who, armed with the Freedom of Information Act, set off in the mid‐70's on a paper chase of U.S. Government documents on U.F.O.'s. They include Bruce S. Maccabee, a Silver Spring, Md., physicist working for the Navy, who has managed to obtain the release of more than 1,200 pages of documents on U.F.O.'s from the F.B.I.; W. Todd Zechel of Prairie du Sac, Wis.; Robert Todd of Ardmore, Pa.; Larry W. Bryant of Arlington, Va.; and Brad C. Sparks, a student la astrophysics at Berkeley whose five‐year pursuit of the C.I.A.'s U.F.O. file eventually provided the foundation for a 3round‐breaking Freedom of Information lawsuit filed by Ground Saucer Watch (G.S.W.), an Arizona‐based U.F.O.
At the request of G.S.W. director William H. Spaulding, Peter Gersten, an attorney in the New York firm of Rothblatt, Rothblatt & Seijas, filed a civil action against the C.I.A. in December 1977 demanding all U.F.O. records in the agency's possession. The suit seemed to have achieved its goal when late last year the agency released about 900 documents — nearly 900 pages of memos, reports and correspondence that attest to the agency's long involvement in U.F.O. matters. But the civil action has not seen its final day in court.
By Gersten's account, the agency has arbitrarily withheld documents, made deletions without merit, and failed to conduct a proper search for U.F.O. materials. The agency's current actions, he says, perpetuate its 30‐year policy of deliberate deception and dishonesty about U.F.O.'s. “What has been released to us seems to have been rather carefully selected,” says Gersten. “We suspect that the agency is withholding at least 200 more documents than the 57 they have admitted they are keeping from us to protect intelligence sources.” Victor Marchetti, a former executive assistant to the agency's deputy director, agrees with Gersten. The entire exercise, Marchetti wrote recently in a magazine article, “has the same aroma of the agency's previous messy efforts to hide its involvement in drugs and mind‐control operations, both prime examples of a successful intelligence cover‐up.”
The first sighting to be labeled a “flying saucer” by the press occurred on June 24, 1947, when an Idaho businessman flying his plane near Mount Rainier observed nine disc‐shaped objects making undulating motions “like a saucer skipping over water.” As early as World War II, Allied bomber pilots had told of “balls of light” that followed their flights over Japan and Germany. A U.S. Eighth Army investigation concluded that the of “mass hallucination.”
These and other incidents were reported in a 1973 book by David Michael Jacobs, “The UFO Controversy in America,” which until the recent release of Government documents was the most comprehensive reconstruction of the Government's U.F.O. involvement. When Scandinavians reported cigar‐shaped objects in 1946, U.S. Army intelligence suspected that the Russians had developed a secret weapon with the help of German scientists from Peenemiinde. The C.I.A., then known as the Central Intelligence Group, secretly began keeping tabs on the subject. When the unknown objects returned to the skies, this time over the United States in the summer of 1947, the Army Air Force set out to determine what the objects were. Within weeks, Brig. Gen. George F. Schulgen of Army Air Corps Intelligence requested the F.B.I.'s assistance “in locating and questioning the individuals who first sighted the so‐called flying discs....” Undoubtedly swayed by flaring cold‐war tensions, Schulgen feared that “the first reported sightings might have been by individuals of Communist sympathies with the view to causing hysteria and fear of a secret Russian weapon.” J. Edgar Hoover agreed to coopreau have “full access to discs recovered.” The Air Force's behind‐thescenes interest contrasted sharply with its public stance that the objects were products of misidentifications and imaginative populace. A security lid was imposed on the subject in July 1947, hiding potentially “embarrassing situation” the following month, when both the Air Force and the F.B.I. began suspecting they might actually be investigating our own secret weapons. High‐level reassurances were obtained that this was not so.
By the end of the summer, the F.B.I. had “failed to reveal any indication of subversive individuals being involved in any of the reported sightings.” A RESTRICTED Army letter that found its way to Hoover's desk said that the bureau's services actually had been enlisted to relieve the Air Forces “of the task of tracking down all the many instances which turned out to be ashcan covers, toilet seats and whatnot.” Incensed, Hoover moved quickly to discontinue the bureau's U.F.O. investigations.
In September of that year, the Commanding General of the Army Air Force received letter from the Army Chief of Staff Lieut. Gen. Nathan F. Twining, saying that “the phenomenon reported is of something real and not visionary or fictitious,” that the objects appeared to be disc‐shaped, “as large as man‐made aircraft,” and “controlled either manually, automatically or remotely.” At Twining's request, project “Sign” was established.
“Sign” failed to find any evidence that the objects were Soviet secret weapons and before long submitted an unofficial “Estimate of the Situation,” classified TOP SECRET, which indicated that U.F.O.'s were of interplanetary origin. The estimate eventually reached Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg, who rejected it for lack of proof. “Sign's” inconclusive final report remained classified for the next 12 years.
After “Sign,” the Air Force continued to collect U.F.O. data under the code name “Grudge.” This six‐month project found no evidence of foreign scientific development and therefore no direct threat to national security. It did, however, stress that the reported sightings could be dangerous. “There are indications that the planned release of related psychological propaganda would cause a form of mass hysteria,” the report stated. “Employment of these methods by or against an enemy would yield similar results ... governmental agencies interested in psychological warfare should be informed of the results of this study."
A press release following the termination of “Grudge” allowed the public to believe that the Air Force was no longer interested in U.F.O.'s. But the Air Force continued to collect reports through normal intelligence channels until a dramatic sighting of a U.F.O. at the Army Signal Corps radar center in Fort Monmouth, N.J., in 1951 led to the reactivation of “Grudge.” The Air Force project was renamed “Blue Book” in 1952, a year that saw a record number of U.F.O. reports.
The situation got out of hand during the summer of 1952. On the morning of July 28, the Washington Post revealed that U.F.O.'s had been tracked on radar at Washington National Airport, the second such incident in a week. Reporters stormed Air Force headquarters in the Pentagon, where switchboards were jammed for days with U.F.O. inquiries. Military installations across the country handled such a volume of reports that “regular intelligence work had been affected,” reported The New York Times.
These events prompted action at C.I.A. headquarters, apparently at a request “from the Hill.” From the start, the agency's involvement was to be kept secret. An August 1 C.I.A. memo recommended that “no indication of C.I.A. interest or concern reach the press or public, in view of their probable alarmist tendencies to accept such interest as ‘confirmatory’ of the soundness of ‘unpublished facts’ in the hands of the U.S. Government.”
The C.I.A.'s Office of Scientific Intelligence (O.S.I.) found that the Air Force's investigation of the U.F.O. phenomenon was not sufficiently rigorous to determine the exact nature of the objects in the sky. Neither did the Air Force deal adequately with the potential danger of U.F.O.‐induced mass hysteria, or the fact that our air vulnerability was being seriously affected by the U.F.O. problem. O.S.I. chief H. Marshall Chadwell thought that our nation's defenses were running the increasing risk of false alert and, worse yet, “of falsely identifying the real as phantom.” He suggested that a national policy be established “as to what should be told the public” and, furthermore, that immediate steps be taken to improve our current visual and electronic identification techniques so that “instant positive identification of enemy planes or missiles can be made.” Ever vigilant, the C.I.A. was keeping an eye on the possibility that U.F.O.'s could be of Soviet origin.
By the winter of 1952, Chadwell had drafted National Security Council proposal calling on program to solve the problem of instant positive identification of U.F.O.'s. In a memo that accompanied the proposal, Chadwell urged that the reports be given “immediate attention.” He thought that “sightings of unexplained objects at great altitudes and traveling at high speeds in the vicinity of major U.S. defense installations are of such nature that they are not attributable to natural phenomena or known types of aerial vehicles.” He said that O.S.I. was proceeding with the establishment of a consulting group “of sufficient competence and stature to ... convince the responsible authorities in the community that immediate research and development on this subject must be undertaken.”
But C.I.A. Director Gen. Walter B. Smith's interest apparently lay elsewhere. In a letter to the Director of the Psychological Strategy Board, he expressed a desire to discuss “the possible offensive and defensive utilization of these phenomena for psychological warfare purposes.” Only later did Director Smith authorize recruiting an advisory committee of outside consultants.
The scientific panel met for four days beginning Jan. 14, 1953. Chaired by Dr. H.P. Robertson, an expert in physics and weapons systems, the panel essentially bestowed the scientific seal of approval on previously established official policy regarding U.F.O.'s. The distinguished panelists felt that all the sightings could be identified once all the data were available for a proper evaluation — in other words, the phenomena, according to the panel's report, were not “beyond the domain of present knowledge of physical sciences.” Neither did the panelists find U.F.O.'s to be a direct threat to national security, though they believed that the volume of U.F.O. reports could clog military intelligence channels, precipitate panic, and lead defense personnel to ignore real indications of hostile action. The panel worried about Soviet manipulation of the phenomenon; that the reports could make the public vulnerable to “possible enemy psychological warfare.” The real danger, they concluded, was the reports themselves.
Fearing that the myth of U.F.O.'s might lead to inappropriate actions by the American public, the panelists decided that a “broad educational program integrating efforts of all concerned agencies” must be undertaken. They sought to strip U.F.O.'s of their “aura of mystery” through this program of “training and ‘debunking.’ “ The program would result in the “proper recognition of unusually illuminated objects” and in a “reduction in public interest in ‘flying saucers.’ “ The panelists recommended that their mass‐media program have as its advisers psychologists familiar with mass psychology and advertising experts, while Walt Disney Inc. animated cartoons and such personalities as Arthur Godfrey would help in the educational drive. To insure complete control over the situation, the panel members suggested that flying‐saucer groups be “watched because of their potentially great influence on mass thinking if widespread sightings should occur. The apparent irresponsibility and the possible use of such groups for subversive purposes should be kept in mind.”
The panel's recommendations called for nothing less than the domestic manipulation of public attitudes. Whether these proposals were acted upon, the C.I.A. will not say. But the report was circulated among the top brass at the Air Technical Intelligence Center, the C.I.A.'s Board of National Estimates (of which Hoover was a member), the C.I.A.'s bureau chiefs, the Secretary of Defense, the chairman of the National Security Resources Board, and the director of the Federal Civil Defense Administration, who eventually sent a representative to meet with C.I.A. officials in order to “implement the appropriate aspects of the Panel's Report as applicable to Civil Defense.”
The Government's efforts in the 50's and 60's to squelch public apprehension over U.F.O.'s went beyond debunking and even touched the fiber of constitutionally protected free speech. According to author David Michael Jacobs, in 1953 the Air Force pressured Look magazine into publishing disclaimers throughout an article by retired Maj. Donald E. Keyhoe entitled “Flying Saucers From Outer Space.” Then again, in 1965, the Army — in a prepublication review denied clearance for a U.F.O.related article by one of its employees, Larry W. Bryant, a technical editor, until he took the issue to court.
Meanwhile, the C.I.A. and the F.B.I. proceeded routinely in the surveillance of U.F.O. organizations and U.F.O. enthusiasts. People with U.F.O. interests were checked out by the F.B.I. at the request of the C.I.A., the Air Force, or private citizens inquiring about possible subversive activities. None caused as much consternation as the case of Major Keyhoe and the organization he directed, the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP). The C.I.A. appears to have had a protracted interest in NICAP, which was founded in 1956 and utilized by Keyhoe as an organizational tool for challenging the alleged Air Force cover‐up on U.F.O.'s. Both the C.I.A. and the Air Force were upset by NICAP's wide‐ranging influence. Its prestigious board of directors included, among others, Vice Adm. Roscoe Hillenkoetter, the first C.I.A. Director (1947‐1950). “The Air Force representatives believe that much of the trouble ... with Major Keyhoe ... could be alleviated,” states a C.I.A. memo dated May 16, 1958, “if the Major did not have such important personages as Vice Admiral R. H. Hillenkoetter, U.S.N. (Ret.) ... on the board. ...” The Air Force suggested that if the Admiral were shown the SECRET panel report he might understand and take “appropriate actions.” Whether or not the Air Force got through to the admiral, Hillenkoetter
The 60's saw further C.I.A. interest in NICAP. After flurry of Washington‐area sightings in 1965, the agency contacted NICAP about seeing some of its case files on the matter. Richard H. Hall, then NICAP assistant director, chatted with a C.I.A. agent in the NICAP office about the sightings, NICAP's methodology, and Hall's background. The agent's memo on the visit suggests that the C.I.A. had some role in mind for Hall, predicated upon his being granted a security clearance. Nothing apparently came of the suggestion. A later set of C.I.A. papers reveals an inter. est in NICAP's organizational structure and notes that “this group included some ex‐C.I.A. and Defense Intelligence types who advise on investigative techniques and NICAP‐Government relations.” There are presently three former C.I.A. employees on the NICAP board of directors, including Charles Lombard, a congressional aide to Senator Barry Goldwater, who is himself a NICAP board member; and retired U.S. Air Force Col. Joseph Bryan III. Bryan feels, as he did back in 1959 when he joined the board, that U.F.O.'s are interplanetary. NICAP's current president is Alan Hall, a former C.I.A. covert employee for 30 years.
In 1966, mounting discontent from members of the press. Congress and the scientific community compelled the Air Force to commission an 18month scientific study of U.F.O.'s under the direction of Edward U. Condon, professor of physics at the University of Colorado. The politically expedient study, in which onethird of the 91 cases examined remained unidentified, reiterated official policy with one novel twist: U.F.O.'s “educationally harmed” schoolchildren who were allowed to use science study time to read books and magazine articles about U.F.O.'s. Condon wanted teachers to withhold credit from any student U.F.O. project. The Air Force took the cue and disbanded project “Blue Book” in 1969.
Less than a decade later, the White House, perhaps in an attempt to make good Jimmy Carter's campaign promise to tell all about U.F.O.'s, suggested via science advisor Frank Press that possibly NASA could undertake a review of any significant new findings since Condon's study. NASA examined the offer, but saw no way to attack the problem on a scientific basis without physical evidence. They envisioned a public‐relations nightmare if they were to accept such a project, and so rejected it. A frank, in‐house evaluation of NASA's options, however, noted that a handsoff attitude only begged the question. So in good spirit, the space agency offered to examine any piece of physical evidence brought to its attention. That position led one Federal aviation official to comment: “If you get a piece of the thing, fine. But don't bother me with anything else.”
These days, the Air Force admits to nothing more than a “transitory interest” in the phenomenon, although military directives still exist for reporting U.F.O.'s.
The C.I.A. is still wary of the possibility that U.F.O.'s. may be of Soviet origin. “The agency's interest,” says Katherine Pherson, a public‐affairs officer for the C.I.A., “lies in its responsibility to forewarn principally of the possibility that a foreign power might develop a new weapons system that might exhibit phenomena that some might categorize as a U.F.O. But there is no program to actively collect information on U.F.O.'s.” The agency's interest cannot be denied, however, as two 1976 memos reveal.
The first, dated April 26, states: “It does not seem that the Government has any formal program in progress for the identification/solution of the U.F.O. phenomena. Dr. [name deleted] feels that the efforts of independent researchers, [phrase deleted], are vital for further progress in this area. At the present time, there are offices and personnel within the agency who are monitoring the U.F.O. phenomena, but again, this is not currently on an official basis.”
Another memo, dated July 14, and routed to the deputy chief in the Office of Development and Engineering, reads: “As you may recall, 1 mentioned my own interest in the subject as well as the fact that DCD [Domestic Collection Division] has been receiving U.F.O. related material from many of our S & T (Science and Technology] sources who are presently conducting related research. These scientists include some who have been associated with the Agency for years and whose credentials remove them from the ‘nut’ variety.”
If nothing else, the success of the U.F.O. paper chase may have lent U.F.O.'s a measure of respectability that has eluded the subject for the past third of a century. Though it appears that no U.F.O. sighting has ever represented an airborne Soviet or foreign threat, the possibility that such an event could occur remains foremost in the coldwar‐conscious Government mind. Should that threat come to pass, military officials believe, our nation's sophisticated defense system would know about it before someone getting a glass of milk in the middle of the night sees the threat hovering outside the kitchen window. Or so we are made to understand the Air Force's seemingly nonchalant advice to the public: “If you see a U.F.O. and you feel the situation warrants it, call your local police.”

2024.05.28 15:33 SashimiSpeculator My first name has a space in between

Hi all,
TL; DR: My first name is in the format of “XX YYYY”. My last name is “ZZZZZ”. Many UK computer systems in banks, brokers, HMRC tax account, and pension cannot accept a space or will omit the second part of the first name YYYY. They also don’t allow changing this because of the system. Will my life get doomed because of this in the future?
Sometimes some letters from them display only “XX ZZZZ” omitting the second part of the first name. Sometimes it in full it depends on banks or the institutes whether their computer system can accept it. I am afraid if this can pose a big problem when it comes to tax or insurance or taking out my pension when I retire.
Can anyone give me some confidence that it will work or share the same experience? I asked these institutes but they cannot change this.
A particular example is my work pension with Aviva that they call me XX ZZZZZ because they cannot accept a space in first name and automatically dropped the YYYY. Will I still be able to take my pension when I retire lol?
Thanks a lot!

2024.05.28 15:23 dopaminejunkie278640 Finally Found a Job

Buckle up Buttercup. It's a long post.
After being laid off in November of last year and hundreds of applications, I finally found a job that I start next week. I was at my previous company for 15 yrs when they laid me off, and my previous profession has largely been outsourced or replaced by AI. So, I was not only looking for a new job, but also needed to change careers altogether and find an employer willing to take a chance on me.
The new employer only had me do 2 interviews, both virtual. They didn't jerk me around like the majority of other companies have done. I applied. The recruiter called me a few days later. It wasn't a recruiter screen type thing. It was a "We're interested. Are you available to interview next week on X date?" The second interview was later that week. I knew their decision within a few weeks. The whole process was under 2 weeks from application to offer. Background check + drug screen took 1 more week, so 3 weeks total.
I will have a longish commute, around 1h 20m drive each way, but it's hybrid with 3 in-office days. The in-office time was a non-negotiable thing, and they were super up front about it and explained why an office presence is needed. It's a legit reason.
The $ offered was dead center of the range I put on the application, so I didn't negotiate. The post didn't include salary info. I'm not in a state where it's required, so market research for range is what I used.
I'm writing all of this to say that even though every other job application/interview I'd done before this was truly recruiting hell, I think I somehow made it through to the other side. Here's what I did in case anyone finds it useful:
I didn't tailor my resume for any application. My experience is my experience. I don't play the ATS game because it's a waste of time. I believe that every company I interviewed with have recruiters who read resumes. I did tailor cover letters. Prior to this job offer, I made it to the final round of interviews for 100% remote jobs 5 times that went all the way to officers of the company. None of my resumes were tailored.
The employer who laid me off paid for a service where job seekers can ask advice and get resume help. I followed their advice to craft my resume and network.
I noted the certifications people on LinkedIn have who work in my targeted profession and obtained them. If ATS was a factor, I believe it was the certifications that got me through the weeds to a human. In total, I got 4 certifications. The cost of all 4 exams, study materials/courses, and registration of certs was around $3000 USD.
I wrote my resume in a way that required minimal tweaking when uploaded into Workday. It's a waste of time to have to fix workday applications over and over due to bad resume formatting. I played around with it until Workday applications averaged 5 minutes.
I networked in person and virtually, but not with anyone from the company that I'll be working for. I'll never know if any of my networking was with someone in the same circle of people, a kind of "I know a person who knows a person." The city where I targeted is large enough for it to have professional sports teams, but I wouldn't consider it to be a major city, if that makes sense. It's a bit of a small world in my targeted industry and city.
All my networking was looking up people on LinkedIn who either worked for my previous company in the sector I was trying to get into and asking if they had time for a coffee with me. Or, I looked at the companies I wanted to work for on LinkedIn and searched for the officer of the company and reached out to them or their deputy to have coffee. Around 2/3 of my invites had no response. The ones who did respond all met me for coffee. In other words, no one said they were too busy or made an excuse to not meet me. I did have to subscribe to LinkedIn premium so I could send these people messages.
I abhor group networking events, so I never go to them. I'm autistic. They are a sensory nightmare for me.
All of my coffees were centered around the question, "How do I break into this specific industry with the experience I do and don't have?" The folks gave me advice. I followed it during interviews I landed and the cover letters I wrote.
I went to weekly therapy to keep my mental health from eating me alive.
I'm 2 1/2 yrs sober. I used my support system to stay that way.
Total number of jobs I applied to: 310
Total interviews I had with all companies: 17
Total number of times those interviews were reschscheduled averaged 3 times per company. This was the hardest thing for me in the whole time I was job searching, especially as an autistic person. The place I'll be working for did not reschedule anything, so they get a point in the respect category.
Total versions of cover letters: 21
Total in-person and virtual coffees: 8
On the disability section of applications, I always chose the option that I preferred not to answer. I did not ask for accommodations. I don't trust marking yes.

2024.05.28 15:07 ProfitOk5206 process on large context document to extract text and table information and send to the mode in chunks

Hi, I am newbie struggling and seeking for advice and help. below is my scenario 1. I have a document for now which is a .docx file type(future the same code should handle for different fule types such as pdf, txt, html, xlsx) 2. The document has information in the form of text and table.( the text and the table information is continuation in subsequent pages).
3.below would be the sample page in pdf dbname: xyz.abc table name: customer_information tablespace name: dfdsd.grfs description: This table contains details on customer information Field Format Null Default Description Values CUSTOMER_ID INTEGER Not null Customer unique identifier CUSTOMER_FNAME CHAR(30) Not null Customer First name Gender CHAR(1) Not null Gender of the customer M', 'F', 'O'
  1. I want to send this data to LLM ,and set context to extract the table and column information along with their details in particular JSON format. JSON format: "tables": [ { "table": "customer_information", "Tablespace": "dfdsd.grfs", "Description": "This table contains details on customer information", "column_details": [ {"Field": "CUSTOMER_ID", "Format": "INTEGER)", "Null": "NOT NULL", "Dflt": "", "Description": "Customer unique identifier", "Values": []}, ]
I have used unstructured from Lang chain community to read the document, pre-process the extra lines and send to the model. but due to token limitation, the entire pdf has to be chunked.
Give me some ideas on how to chunk the text and table and to maintain the continuation of text and tables. I have tried few chunking process but I'm unable to chunk properly on text and table, it is losing its relationship. because of which the model is struggling to understand and generate accurate response.
because of organisation restrictions, I have been given anthropic claude v2_1 model, with custom endpoint via amazon bedrock to access it. I was told to chunk the data, send it to the model for response generation and iterate it till the end of the document and append the response for each iteration.
Any links, documents to extract will be really helpful. I explored many links, sites but didn't got any information on how to retain relationship between the text and tables. Thanks in advance. due to restrictions, sharing the pseudocode: # Pseudocode for chunk_text function Function chunk_text(text, max_chunk_size=500) Create a splitter with chunk_size set to max_chunk_size and chunk_overlap set to 50 Return splitter.split_text(text) End Function # Pseudocode for chunk_table function Function chunk_table(table, max_rows=20) Initialize an empty list called chunks Set num_rows to the number of rows in the table If num_rows is less than or equal to max_rows Append the entire table to chunks Else For each start_row from 0 to num_rows, incrementing by max_rows Set end_row to the smaller of start_row + max_rows and num_rows Create sub_table as a subset of table rows from start_row to end_row Append sub_table to chunks End For End If Return chunks End Function # Pseudocode for chunk_document function Function chunk_document(doc, text_chunk_size=500, table_chunk_size=20) Initialize text_chunks by chunking text from doc paragraphs using chunk_text function Initialize an empty list called table_chunks For each table in doc.tables Extend table_chunks with chunks of the table using chunk_table function End For Initialize an empty list called all_chunks Set text_idx to 0 Set table_idx to 0 For each element in doc.element.body If element is a paragraph and text_idx is less than the length of text_chunks Append a tuple ('text', text_chunks[text_idx]) to all_chunks Increment text_idx by 1 Else If element is a table and table_idx is less than the length of table_chunks Append a tuple ('table', table_chunks[table_idx]) to all_chunks Increment table_idx by 1 End If End For Return all_chunks End Function # Pseudocode for process_document function Function process_document(filepath) Set loader to the result of get_loader(filepath) Load documents using loader and store in docs Set doc_ss to the page_content of the first document in docs Preprocess doc_ss and store in doc_text_preprocessed Create a text_splitter with chunk_size set to 300 and chunk_overlap set to 50 Split doc_text_preprocessed using text_splitter and store in chunks Initialize a dictionary called extracted_data with keys "database_category", "tables", and "additional_text" For each chunk in chunks Set response to the result of process_chunk_with_model(chunk) If response.text contains 'completion' Parse response.text as JSON and store in output_msg Extract 'completion' from output_msg and store in output Print output Try to parse output as JSON and store in chunk_data Print "chunk data:" followed by chunk_data For each table in chunk_data['tables'] Append table to extracted_data['tables'] End For For each text in chunk_data['additional_text'] Append text to extracted_data['additional_text'] End For Catch JSONDecodeError Print "Error decoding JSON from model response." 2024.05.28 14:52 Old_North8419 How difficult are both of these languages for native speakers of "Romance" or other European languages to learn and fully grasp their grammar & writing systems?

To be clear, I'm talking about languages such as Italian, Spanish, French or Portuguese. (I mean Romanian is also one of them.) They all have gender cases including gendered nouns. I do keep hearing that English speakers have an 'easier' time to learn them due to them having an alphabet, plus they are considered "Romance" languages. (I'm not going to talk about that here, as there are many posts mentioning them.)
Instead, I'm discussing on how hard are both Mandarin & Japanese for native French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese speakers to learn? Since both JP & ZH are completely alien to European languages in terms of their writing system, grammar or syntax, so they have no common ground with the European framework in regards to their orthography or grammar.
Even though Japanese has hiragana / katakana, it does not mean they write every word like that, since they have Kanji. (It helps condense sentence length, also that makes it clearer to tell the difference on what the correct word is, as some sound exactly the same but have different meanings altogether.
The features that each language has:
Mandarin Japanese
Tones (4-5) Pitch accent
Classifiers (for counting) Counting words
Stroke order (differs from Japanese) Stroke order (differs from Mandarin)
Word particles (different from Japanese) Word particles (different from Mandarin)
Polite language (formality) Keigo & Honorifics
Sentence structure: SVO Sentence structure: SOV
Untranslatable nuances Untranslatable nuances
From both ZH & JP: 1 漢字 equates to a SINGLE word in which multiple letters are needed in European languages to spell out. Both Kanji & Hanzi are drawn from visual concepts on how they interpret a word based on semantic meaning. (Characters are fun for caligraphy practice, it's also a work of art.) For reference, take the Kanji & Hanzi:
[The stroke order between both languages are different despite having the same character for some words, since they are both different languages after all.]
The shape of the character is derivative on how its visualized.
Japanese - 訓読み:かわ・音読み:セン
Mandarin - Pinyin: Chuān
For instance, take the kanji & hanzi:「軍」
As you can see, a single kanji & hanzi already equates to 1 word as it is logographic, which will require multiple letters in Romance languages to spell.
Kanji from Japanese has multiple readings for ONE character, for example:「行」
An example of a Kanji, but as indicated their phonologies change depending on how it used within a word, or placed in a sentence.
Kunyomi: Native Japanese Reading of a kanji.
Onyomi: Reading of a kanji derivative of Mandarin phonology.
Nanori: These readings only apply when a kanji is used within a persons name.
That is also another "complex" part of Japanese, as kanji has multiple pronunciations alone. (Yep, this applies to most of the 2,136+ characters having their own assigned phonologies that differ.)
This often gets lost in translation (like all the time!), as ONE character can imply so many definitions depending on the context you associate it with, in a literal or figurative sense. As opposed to European languages, the translation is mainly consistent with what you put it for "common" words but there are some that can also pose multiple meanings.
Japanese & Mandarin Romance (Euro) languages (letter count)
They have a large amount of characters, getting the feeling like it's 'limitless' but they contrast around 2,000 - 10,000+ in their total amount. French (26), Spanish (27), Italian (21) & Portuguese (26) As they are alphabetical, you read each letter as it is.
Both languages have zero concept of gender cases as it's not a thing in Japanese & Mandarin. They have gender cases and gendered nouns (Whether it is FR, ES, IT or PT.)
On the other hand, they both have idioms and proverbs you can create out of 4 characters, conveying a proverb and idiomatic phrase (both in a literal & figurative sense) using only 4 characters:
As mentioned, they only use 4 characters to construct a proverb & idiom.
I mean, can you also do this in European languages: only using 4 short words alone? (To create a proverb that still conveys an idiomatic meaning with only 4 words.)
Both Mandarin and Japanese have radicals (on both hanzi & kanji) which are building blocks of their characters, that radical has a meaning on its own as it's derivative of an existing word, but when associated with another kanji & hanzi. (Hence why some characters look similar to one another.)
The connotation of its meaning can change, but the theme surrounding the vocabulary involving the radical still conveys a message despite it being a different word entirely, even though the radical is present in an unrelated word that does not relate to the meaning of the radical.
As shown, pay close attention to the radical present in these words. (Despite some of them having the same one, they connotate a different word entirely.)
The Kanji in Grey: Unreleated words surrounding the radical present.
The Kanji in Pink: Related words surrounding the radical present.
Be careful not to get these mixed up, you need a good eye to distiguish them apart.
List of words from Mandarin containing the radical 女.
The Hanzi in Pink - Words associated with nouns relating to girls & women.
The Hanzi in Purple - Words associated with a "positive" connotation.
The Hanzi in Maroon - Words associated with womanhood.

Japanese

They have 45 ひらがな & 45 カタカナ but that is only scratching the surface, not forgetting to include over 2,136+ 漢字 with readings such as: 訓読み, 音読み & 名乗り for each character, imagine doing that 2k times, knowing all the phonologies for most or all of them.
The grammar too is alien to all European languages, as what is stated last in a [EU lang] sentence is positioned at the beginning in Japanese. On top of kanji implying more than one definition as it is dependent on context, also the reading can change if its paired with kana or another kanji.
For example, take the sentence「ジュールズさんが家族と家でフランス語を話します」(You can clearly see as indicated by the word positionings: Japanese word order is SOV while the translations below it are complicit with the SVO order as usual in European languages.)
As shown here, the sentence strutcure in Japanese is very different to the counterparts in French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese. (Indicated in color)
The さん (in red) is a honorific. (More about that later.)
Subject omission is common in Japanese, as they don't always need to include words like (I am, me, we, us, etc.) as opposed to European languages where it's needed, since you are already inferring to the speaker in question, so it is a lot more straight forward. For instance:
From this sentence (私は) is omitted in Japanese. (Translations conveyed in brackets and light text.)
To speakers of Romance languages, can you omit words like "I am" or any pronoun alike and still be understood by the other party? (Can it really work?)
For example, in Portuguese: instead of saying "O meu nome é Francisco" > just put it as "Francisco" [Omitting O meu nome é] (in Japanese that is connotated as フランシスコです - without 私は)
I won't forget 丁寧語、尊敬語、謙遜語 which are all part of 敬語 in Japanese, especially in verbs as to express a level of politeness (in corporate or formal setting) to empathize respect to the other party to not be connotated as rude (you can use the 'normal' variant but that will come off as impolite - in let's say a business meeting or any formal event / setting.), between a "dictionary" form including teineigo, sonkeigo & kensongo. For instance:
As you can see, all 4 variations of 1 verb exist in Japanese, keeping in mind with the level of formality on which variant you'll use. (They all mean 1 verb, but connotate different levels of politeness, empathizing the level of respect or decorum.)
For example, you would not use 言う in an formal setting when talking to people within either a business or special occassion where decorum is required, you would instead use 申し上げる or something amongst the lines of おっしゃる depending on the situation and setting or formality.
Is there anything like this in European languages to this extent? If not, then this will be difficult for you all to fully understand as there's verbs in Japanese that do this based on the level of decorum incuding the setting you are in, the people you are talking to.
The honorific system in Japanese is often "lost in translation" as evident in both manga or anime (what I hate about translation is that they transliterate it instead of coming up with an equivalent), as there are many levels of politeness and formality within their language, for example:
日本語 Roughly equivalent to:
博士 (はかせ) Dr. / PhD
後輩 (こうはい) Junior
先輩 (せんぱい) Senior
先生 (せんせい) Teach / Mr / Mrs
様 (さま) Mr / Mrs (Formal variant, eg. clients, judges)
さん Mr / Mrs (Addressed towards grown ups)
たん (Refers to babies)
ちゃん (Refers to young children - boys / girls)
殿 (どの) (Formal / archanic ver: of you)
君 (くん) (Semi-formal title referring to men)
氏 (し) (Used for family names or important stuff alike)
陛下 (へいか) Your Majesty
殿下 (でんか) Your Highness
閣下 (かっか) Your excelency
坊 (ぼう) (A term for endearment regarding young boys)
被告 (ひこく) (Addresses the accused - legal / court)
容疑者 (ようぎしゃ) (Addresses the suspect - police / legal)
受刑者 (じゅけいしゃ) (Addresses the one convicted - legal / court)
Of course this also gets lost in translation, in European languages as they OFTEN just romanize the term, which is not how you are not meant to translate it. (If there is no actual equivalent in European languages, just omit it instead of transliterating it.)
In regards to Kanji: there are words that bare the same phoneme, but keep in mind of numerous kanji variations that also possess the same phonology, with each having their own separate meanings. For example, take the onyomi reading for カン -
I only listed 100 kanji that are pronounced the same, but there are 286 more with the same sound: カン (By the way, each kanji has their own definition.)
This phoneme (カン) alone comprises 386 漢字 in Japanese, some of the characters have become 'obscure' in their usage, as in you don't even know they existed until you've looked hard enough. (Even native speakers don't know all of them.)
How difficult is this concept for speakers of European languages to remember and fully grasp? (Some of the kanji are used for people's names.)
The most diffcult part a "word" can have various meanings for one phoneme, take for example 「こうか」which comprises of 39 words with this pronunciation, so depending on the sentence you are listening to or reading, you got to infer the correct one based on context. Also, Japanese has 188 word particles in total. (I won't list them all.)
I can only think of 54 word particles that are used in Japanese sentences. (Although there are quite a lot, with specific uses.)
In terms of how counting works in Japanese, it is not like in European languages at all. Japanese has 助数詞, which are counting / measure words used to count the number of things, actions, events, items, and etc. to make it clear on what you are exactly counting.
A list of Japanese 助数詞 - (There's about 350 of them, but I won't list them all.)
There is so many counter words in Japanese, that even native speakers don't even use ALL of them, as their uses are situational or only applicable in some instances.
Counting suffix (within a number / qty.) A rough summary
A counter for [things] in general, as it is also commonly used in Japanese.
Counter for [no. of pieces] or some things, you see this word in relation to let's say: food.
Counts books, pens, pencils, nail clippers, etc. (This one is quite versatile in its usage.)
Equiv. to no. of reams of paper, no. of pics, also counts bath mats, credit cards, clothing, etc.
Used for counting [small / medium] animals (eg. household pets or other small creatures.)
Counter for [no. of livestock] or large animals such as elephants, whales, camels, etc.
Primarily a counting suffix used for documents or books (equiv. to: Olivier read 3 books.)
Counting word in relation to the no. of vehicles (such as trucks or cars) for example.
Counter word for birds (specifically) but can be used to count rabbits too.
Used to refer to no. of storeys or floors within a building. (eg this apartment has 20 floors.)
Refers to the no. of [cans] such as soda cans, tins, paint cans, etc. (When empty, use: 個)
Refers to no. of [books / comics] in a series. (equiv to: Carlos read all 7 harry potter novels.)
切れ Refers to no. of [sliced food] (equiv. to: Maria sliced 4 loaves of bread for her sibilings.)
As a counter, it refers to [times] bitten in food. (equiv. to: Pierre took one bite from a scone.)
Refers to the no. of [cases / incidents] but this counter has versatility in its usage.
For example, the counting word 羽 is present in Japanese (regardless if it is singular or plural), as it is needed to be specific on the indicator within a numerical unit of [something / someone / event / action, etc.] to clarify what you're referring to.
As highlighted, the presence of the counting word is needed. It's not conveyed in the translations displayed below.
Pitch accent is another part of Japanese phonology, as the word can change based on the volume of each phoneme depending on your pronunciation, it connotates a different word altogether affecting the overall meaning, on what you actually want to say. For example, take むし -
Accent 1 is noted as High Low & Accent 2 is noted as Low High. The pitch accent connotates a different word despite them both sounding similar to one another, as in adjusting the volume of one phoneme upon your pronunciation.

Mandarin

7,000 - 80,000+ 漢字 (There are dictionaries that state the existence of around 106,230 漢字 in Mandarin.) However a modern dictionary only features 20,000 hanzi while an educated native speaker memorizes 8,000 hanzi but reading a newspaper only requires knowing 3,000 hanzi.
The sentence structure is different from Japanese (as it is SVO), although their wordings can imply more than one definition, as it is also dependent on how you associate it within a sentence, keep in mind too that they also have tones embedded within their phonology.
For example, take the sentence「醫生根據病人的病情以最好的方式治療他們」(You can clearly see the differences, as indicated by the word positionings - shown in color.)
As shown, the positioning of the words from Mandarin are different despite the word order being SVO, the translations are still different regardless.
Another feature that Mandarin has are separable verbs. (It may sound confusing at first) From this example, take the verb: 見面 (Rencontrer / Incontrare / Conocerte / Conhecer) used here:
As indicated, the hanzi 面 is omitted since 見 already conveys the verb.
Can you also do this in French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese?
In this example, an extra hanzi (了 - as an particle / indicator: past tense) is added in the middle but the verb 吃飯 (Repas / Mangiare / Comer / Come) is still intact:
As the hanzi 了 is placed inbetween both 吃 and 飯, but the verb overall is still there.
From Mandarin - there are words that sound the "same" to the untrained musical ear, as it is a tonal language, so you need to keep that in mind, for example from pinyin: 'bi' consists of multiple hanzi depending on the tone you use, based on pronuncation.
All of them may sound the \"same\" to the untrained musical ear, but they are completely different words altogether. That is the difficult part of Mandarin for \"Euro\" language speakers as it's not a thing in their languages.
There are phonemes from Mandarin that comprise of a LOT of hanzi (that imply different definitions altogether, based on tones.) from 1 sound alone, such as this example below:
I can only think of 82 hanzi which all are pronounced as \"BI\" (there are perhaps more) but their tones connotate a different word. (Also, pay attention to the radicals.)
Like Japanese, Mandarin has word particles too. For example:
Some word particles present in Mandarin. (Although there are perhaps more.)
Akin to the Japanese counting system, Mandarin has 漢語量詞 which are classifiers used to count the number of things, actions, events, items, and etc. to make it clear on what you are exactly counting, that classifier is tied to a specific category and usage.
As indicated, the classifer 輛 is required to be within the sentence in Mandarin. (As you can see from the translations, an equivalent word for that classifier doesn't exist.)
A list of Mandarin 漢語量詞 - (There's quite a few, but I won't list them all.)
Although these classifers can imply multiple meanings and uses, it's context specific though if you want to know what that classifer is referring to.
Classifier (no. / qty. of something / action) A rough explanation
Refers to no of. [lines / sentences] (equiv. to: Sam wrote on the first 2 lines of his book.)
Refers to no. of [rounds / bullets] (equiv. to: Diego fired 20 rounds from his M16A4.)
Refers to [letters - mail] (equiv. to: Ella opened 4 letters coming from the city council.)
Refers to [long thin] objects, eg. needles. (equiv. to: Jack only found 1 needle in a haystack.)
No. of trees (equiv. to: Alice planted 6 trees around the park not far from Paris.)
No. of vehicles (eg. Giovani spotted 3 cars in front of him during a traffic jam in Rome.)
Refers to [rows / columns] (eg. Adrian had to wait within a queue stetching 3 rows.)
Refers to [poems] (equiv. to: Theo wrote 7 poems within the first month or so.)
No of. [rinses / times washed] (eg. Henry washed his laundry for the third time.)
No of. [periods within a class] (eg. Claire skipped 2 study periods for her English exam.)
No of [students] (eg. Jean knew there were 20 other pupils in his English class.)
Refers to the [no. of blankets / sheets] (eg. James placed 3 bedsheets in the cabinet.)
Refers to [items grouped in rows] (eg. Sally saw 4 chairs untucked in the classroom.)
Refers to [no. of movies / novels] (eg. Chris Pratt starred in 3 films this year.)
Refers to [no. of packages / bundles] (eg. Reese received 3 bundles of bubble wrap.)
In European languages, do you also have counter words or classifers in relation to numerical units when referring to specific nouns? If not, than this concept from both Japanese & Mandarin might be a struggle to wrap your head around. (As there's one for EVERYTHING, quite a lot!)
Hanzi can be flipped to create:
  1. Reversal of verbs & adjectives
  2. Different meanings
  3. Similar meanings
  4. Loosely related definition
  5. Closely related definition
  6. Logical meanings
Japanese: Kanji can their positions swapped, but in doing so changes the meaning completely.
[Apologies for the long post: since there's a LOT of detail to uncover.]

French revolution of 1953 and its immediate aftermath (remastered)
Plans to coup the government
Last time we established rising tensions in France. Coup plotter started already in November, cooperating with the CIA (with instructions from president elected MacArthur). Since events in February and transformation of SDECE into DGSI anti-communist conspirators suffered major blow. French authorities looked with suspicion towards Gaullists and their allies and weakened their position and foreign connections. Gaullists were preparing their own coup, but simultaneously several generals and veterans of the Indochina war were preparing their own. Both sides did not know about each other. CIA and MI6 aided both groups and considered them both part of the same plot. DGSI managed to uncover parts of Gaullist's plot and did not know about Salan's one. With the destruction of the spy centre in SDECE, plotters were pressured to act quickly, it was only a matter of time, when communists would uncover their activity. Charles De Gaulle was already strictly watched by DGSI. Salan counted with the support of other right-wing elements, his plan was simple: Take power, then restore the presidential republic and install most likely general De Gaulle as puppet head of it.
The Coup
Funeral of Stalin was a major opportunity for putschists. As Thorez together with other high-ranking communists left for Moscow already on 7 March. Salan together with the CIA urged to launch the coup now. Preparations for action itself were thus rushed and in many parts improvised.
3:00-4:00 putschist paratroopers (only weaker and not numerous units, tanks and more units stayed behind Paris) go into Paris, they quickly capture Parliament, the main radio stations, PCF office building (empty at that time) and Élysée Palace. However, they fail to capture communist newspaper office, which proves one of the main mistakes. Salan bases HQ in Élysée Palace. Fights in radio are broadcasted by its workers who refused to give it to the military, they call all for help, shooting it's clearly heard in the last broadcast, leading to widespread belief (later proved false) that these workers were executed.
4:30 Radio and newspaper declaration of the Committee of Public Safety is issued. Salan informs about the creation of a provisional government led by the military to “restore order” and “protect French democracy and constitution” from communist takeover. Together with that, the resignation of President Auriol is announced. In this statement Auriol speaks about “drastic, but necessary moves” and speaks against violence (he actually wants to collaborate with Salan against Thorez)
Early morning: Issue of newspapers, communists and leftist newspapers change their headlines and inform people about the coup while calling people to resist the “violent reactionary coup of Salan’s clique”, similar statements are also issued by free radio, operating from the countryside. Both minister of interior Charles Tillon, minister of defence Laurent Casanova and chief of staff Henri Rol-Tanguy, weren’t captured, because they were not located in places putschists expected them to be, another major failure. The French Army was ordered to fight against putschist forces, as did DSGI. Charles Tillon also called for a popular uprising in the newspaper. Thorez was awakened by this time, and still did not react and instead rushed to Soviets for advice. De Gaulle was sleeping in his home, around 5 in the morning, when he was visited by several men from DGSI as the suspected coup leader. Visibly shocked and confused, the general pledged he is not connected to this in any way. He spoke with Tillon on the phone; communists vaguely offered him cooperation and division of power. Later, he was also contacted by Salan who offered him installation as president. General responded vaguely to both proposals, it is unknown what exactly. Both sides interpreted it as approval.
5:00-7:00 as more and more people wake up; spontaneous demonstrations started and grew more massive. CGT met up around 6:30 and declared an immediate general strike and a statement about clear worker’s loyalty to the Thorez government. During these Putschist soldiers shoot several demonstrators leading to outrage, people start to arm themselves by CGT and PCF (People’s Guards – GP Garde populaire). Fights, violence and bloodshed erupts in Paris, People’s Guards soon vastly outnumber sent garrisons as also parts of police join anti-coup forces.
7:00 Meanwhile, long announced Thorez directives and speech comes. His speech is broadcasted by dissent radio, calling for resistance, he also proclaims himself as acting president. He had to act on his own, because from Soviet leaders he received very confusing and mixed responses. While party leader Nikita Khruschev called for revolution and promised full Soviet backing including military intervention, premier Malenkov advocated caution and wished for a peaceful solution and MGB under Beria called it “internal matter of France”. Internally, Beria opposed any intervention in France and wanted to let it under Western influence to appease them, while Khruschev wished for formation of socialist state. Thorez decides to fly back to France.
Another announcement comes from vice-premier Pierre Mendès France, who calls for peace and negotiations, while leaders of RPF and the Third Force coalition give their reluctant approval for the coup.
7:30 Pro-Salan units prepared near Paris are sent to crush demonstrations. Barricades are set up to prevent their entry. Vast parts of Paris were controlled by resistance. Simultaneously troops loyal to the ministry of defence start to move from the North towards the city and secure control over territories.
8:00 US government recognizes Salan as leader of France, first US military aid arrives in putschist controlled ports, several hours later.
At 9:30 putschist tanks arrive in Paris and start the assault, soon violent clashes at barricades result in many deaths, but they don’t break the barricades at first. In the forenoon Revolutionary Workers and Students Council is formed and takes over political life in Paris, loyal units also arrive to strengthen the barricades. Salan declares martial law.
The Civil War
Ante meridiem chaos spreads countrywide. Worker strikes and communist revolutionaries take over factories and many local governments, in some cities, towns and villages opposite happens and anti-communists purge communists. First fights between opposing militants. The French Anti-Communist Legion is formed (LAF – Légion anticommuniste française), anti-communist paramilitary. Military units are in a state of chaos, officers clash amongst each other, soldiers decide to join opposite factions. Usually, it goes according to units’ allegiance, and several fights erupt. Major events happen in Lyon, where the local council is controlled by communists, who arm locals to rise against the military. Eventually the majority of soldiers rebel against the unit commander and join the communist forces. Vast majority of the navy pledge allegiance to the putschists, only those ships where its sailors take power from the officers, change sides. Widespread railway strikes and barricaded roads are major obstacles for putschist forces, it is hard to move to destination, problems with guerrilla attacks with Molotov cocktails etc. Both sides suffer from friendly fire as both government and putschist forces proudly wave French flags only and have the same uniforms or are civilians with guns. Communist forces started to wear red armbands later on.
Afternoon: Political moves to solve the crisis. Charles De Gaulle re-enters the scene and attempts to install himself as a provisional leader to end the civil war and restore order. He denounces violence and both putschist and communist governments in a radio address. He gained support of the political establishment and part of officers that remained yet undecided. Communists refuse it as they see him as another dictator, while Salan rejects it too as he wants De Gaulle first to recognize his government (and as he is closely linked with the US, Americans support Salan over De Gaulle too). Salan also feels betrayed by this as he counted with De Gaulle joining forces with him. De Gaulle has the support of many Frenchmen and hopes he can at least end this catastrophe; however, it was too late, and this attempt ended in vain. Another proposal was a “unity government” that was rejected by both parties. The strongest fights are in Paris. As also government loyalist troops arrived, it was a full-blown battle that continued also in the night.
In the Evening Thorez arrived in Germany, crossing to France is now risky as territorial control is unclear in the region and French zone in the UNMG. After his arrival he issues the Frankfurt Declaration, stating that “French people have to crush the murderous reactionary clique backed by American imperialists” and also words that would end up being misunderstood and later pretend to be intentional “continue revolutionary tradition of the French people and uphold the democratic and socialist France against reactionary plots.” It is understood as a call to full-blown socialist revolution and the next day people act according to it.
It is a chaotic mess, but to sum it up: The Ministry of Defence controlled by the first day of the civil war mostly these regions: Hauts-de-France and Picardie. Lightly contested government holds: Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Alsace, Basse-Normandie. Most contested regions with active fights: Ile de France, Rhone-Alpes, Region Sud, Languedoc-Roussillon and Champagne. Putschist forces control: Bretagne, Pays-de-la Loire, Poitou-Charentes, Aquitaine, Lorraine, Saarland. Lightly contested putschist hold: Centre, Bourgogne and Midi-Pyrénées. Areas without any significant presence of either military forces or without active fights between them: Limousin, Auvergne, Franche-Comte and Corsica.
10.3. Fights continue, start of full-blown hot civil war. Government forces launch an offensive in the Grand Est region to secure control of the border with Germany. Thorez declares martial law too. Battle of northeast France is the first major campaign of the civil war; Salan redirects some units from Paris there.
11.3. Key victory of the government forces in Paris and Ille de France. Salan and his government fled to Orléans. Government continues its offensive in the northeast. Thorez is flown to Paris by aircraft in a risky move in the evening. His presence is surprising and boosts morale.
Issue is the French zone in the UN zone. Units there remained unaligned. Both sides play each other and have its sympathisers here, communist utilise Germans for their goal. Thorez in Germany issues a proclamation that uses a loophole in the UN zone institution (that France has sole rights in their zone) and gives territorial control over the UN to Germany. Question whatever this is valid or not. French communists organise German protests for reunification. German Local Committee formed by SED takes over territory (13.3.), French units there give weapons to communists and surrender. Key move to gain access to Soviet aid. Trains full of weapons go to France through.
12.3.-13.3. Communist victory in the battle of northeast France. Frontline stabilises, rival militaries takeover all parts of the country by now. More uprising and local pockets. Major fights in previously contested or non-controlled parts of France (with exception of Corsica, that is secured by putschists), lightly held territories are solidified. Borders with Belgium aren’t still controlled by communists, while putschists gained control over borders with Switzerland, Italy and Spain. US and Italian involvement increase. The Soviet sent more weapons. Khrushchev proposes full intervention, while Beria opposes. These events are also important for Germany, we will get to the international implications later.
14.3. US proposes “French Resolution” it condemns French communists for violence and proposes UN peacekeeping forces to France, led by US and supporting Salan. The Soviet Union vetoed it and then presented their own resolution proposing the opposite on the next day, blocked by the rest of the Security council.
Late March: Solidified frontlines, communists try to push towards south to connect with other units.
After communist advances towards Orléans, Salan moved his government to Bordeaux, a key port and safe military stronghold deep in controlled territories (18.3.). Now styled as “Provisional Government of the French Republic” (GPRF), Salan becomes its prime minister. Majority parts RPF are brought there together with PRL, RGR and parts of MRP in hopes of organising a sort of democratic right-wing government, however, are used just as puppets by the junta. Position of president is (yes again) offered to Charles De Gaulle, who rejects it. Eventually Michel Debré is selected. Simultaneously Pierre Poujade, Jean-Louis Tixier-Vignancour, Jeune Nation and other far-right people join them. PCF and PSIF are banned and declared foreign agents.
After Thorez’s return to Paris, major political reforms happened. Several decrees, major important are: on nationalisation, on land reform, on revolutionary committees (legalisation of previous communist revolutions in various parts of the country), and the most infamous decree on protection of the constitutional revolution (20.3.) that established infamous People’s Revolutionary Tribunals (5 member groups allowed to carry execution without trials) and started massive purges of reactionaries, collaborators and vaguely defined “enemies of the people” from all functions and positions. Change to previous lore there is not yet declaration of the French Socialist Republic, only change in government and they still claim to be the Fourth Republic. Now stylised as “Constitutional-Revolutionary Government of the French Republic '' (GRCRF). 15.3. Thorez is officially inaugurated as president and Tillon becomes the prime minister, with some minor ministerial changes. In May rump parliament was recalled to Paris, consisting only of PCF, PSIF, independents and even some SFIO deputies. Parties aligned with GPRF are banned. This parliament institutionalised government decrees. Reforms are put into effect by the army and militias.
French civil war is brutal, LAF murders any suspected (key word) communists and their families without mercy during their night raids on villages, while Revolutionary Tribunals execute everyone around suspected of being counterrevolutionary or LAF supporter and also landlords and capitalists refusing to give up their property. But large military units engagements are quite rare, rather a lesser skirmishes.
In May, southern and northern GRCRF forces unite and stabilise their territory. Soviet aid increases. The US reacts with sending more undercover troops to France (they wear French uniforms and pretend to be French, but the majority of them don't even understand French).
May Decree and the Algerian National Revolution
Already during the Thorez’s famous after his return to Paris France is declared to be a nation without colonies and promises after the victory of “Forces of Peace, Democracy and Progress” all colonial status will be abolished and also urges colonial people to take their arms against reactionaries. Newspaper announces it everywhere, but authorities censor this message heavily. Start of the first protests and rebellions. 1st of May the “Colonial Liberation Decree” (also as May Decree or Labour Day Decree) is issued by Paris government, it in detail announces decolonisation and gives to all colonies and Algeria independence, with immediate validity. Key moment in the history of the colonial and post-colonial World. Salan junta tries to stop spreading of this information and local colonial authorities declare this Decree immediately null void (due to being from “illegitimate government”). About detailed response to this later, but we need to visit Algeria right now.
Salan’s declaration of martial law also applied in Algeria. Later, 13. In March, promised elections to the local assembly were cancelled. This led to massive anger from locals. As the front in France needed reinforcements, GPRF recalled the majority of garrisons from Algeria during April. After the May Decree, Algerians started planning a massive uprising, they wanted to take advantage of fighting in France and weakness of garrisons, National Liberation Army was formed and joined forces with local communists. Declaration of Independence of Algeria on 1 June 1953 (by FLN) followed by national-wide uprising and attacks. Due to the weak French presence Algerians saw great success and secured large parts of countryside and several major cities. Paris recognised Algeria as an independent country in June. Salan had to relocate a significant number of troops to deal with the uprising, another major blow to his war effort against communists.
Victory of the Revolution
In June GRCRF starts western offensive to push GPRF out. Despite American involvement, GPRF defences are broken by GRCRF and Salan ordered a retreat to Algeria on 12 August 1953.
In the epilogue of the mainland conflict, communist forces invaded and occupied Monaco on 28 August 1953 (Monaco cooperated with TATO in support of the putschists and gave refuge to their soldiers and supporters). Paris demanded Principality to extradite them to Paris, but they refused. As the army marched in the Monacan People’s Committee was formed by local workers with French orders, they declared themselves the legal government and abolished monarchy. In a staged referendum people of Monaco voted for unification with France (30 October 1953) This “People’s Republic of Monaco” existed as a de facto independent state until its official annexation after the French Socialist Republic was formed.
In December (8 to 20) there was an attempt to invade Corsica by airborne troops but failed due to very high military presence and Italian air support.
Humanitarian Catastrophe
Civil War leads to a large humanitarian crisis. Effects of which on specific countries will be specified later. Targets of refugees: Belgium and Switzerland (largest part), Italy, Algeria/Corsica, United Kingdom and Canada. More than 1,000,000 refugees. Since June borders were closed for those without permits.

AFERMACH (1953-1954)
French Socialist Republic or the “France-Paris”
Situation calms down and normalises during autumn, radical reforms continue, their harsh implementation is mitigated, Revolutionary tribunals are Dismantled (25 September). Revolutionary atmosphere still controls the whole country, various societal changes, and the promotion of socialist realism.
10 November 1953 new constitution was adopted – start of the French Socialist Republic, France is officially a socialist state, PCF obtains leading role, reformed administrative division, ministries and new National Assembly. Flag remains the same tricolour (to keep legitimacy), but a new coat of arms (variation with coat of arms exists and is often used, but it is not the official national flag). Political life and parties are also reformed, all organisations became part of the “National Popular Front” (FPN). PSIF and SFIO unite into the French Socialist Party (PSF), remnants of Gaullists and Christian democrats are allowed to form United Republican Party (UPR). 29 January 1954 election with one ballot.
In 1954, the start of voluntary collectivisation, new trials with supporters of the old regime and war criminals. Reforms of the military (French People’s Army, Air Force and Navy) with Soviet help and focus on militarisation. France joins CMEA.
In Autumn 1953 remnants of Salanist army and ACL were reformed into anti-communist guerrilla and terrorist group Organisation armée secrete (OAS, Organisation of the Secret Army), they are backed and equipped by Spain, Italy and the US. In 1954 the first terrorist attacks in other parts of France started. Continued insurgency and terrorist attacks in the Alps and Pyrenees are relatively strong, and France has to commit many forces to combat them.
French Republic or the “France-Algiers”
Truly one of the countries of the World.
Returning troops mean large problems for Algerians and they have to retreat to better positions, French push them away from major centres, but they keep control over many parts of the countryside. War continues.
Attempt to gain more people as settlers in attempt to solidify Algeria as French settler colony, similarities with Israel. This is mildly successful. However, majorly nonpolitical refugees are not interested in support of Salan and don’t want to move to another warzone and so they went mostly to Belgium, Italy and Switzerland.
25 June 1954: New constitution is adopted; the country is transformed into a presidential republic. Salan is unanimously elected by the Assembly as President. Transition to “civilian rule”. Toa address flag issue: officially only the tricolour is used, however (mostly in socialist bloc and later in popular culture) state flag with letters “RF” is used to represent it, unlike the flag of Socialist Republic, this one was used very rarely by the actual Salan’s regime. Creation of dual citizenship for French (full rights, can vote) and non-French citizens (not full rights, cannot vote or run for office), followed by several séparation laws aimed at Algerians (1954-1957), inspired by South Africa and the American south.
Other reforms brought by the constitution were colonial, the French Union was transformed into the French Community, in which colonies either became a direct part of France (departments or territories) or autonomous colonies (called as associate state). This was done by talks between local and French representatives during the Abidjan Conference (20 April to 21 May 1954)
FRENCH AFRICA
Note: Further autonomy and creation of local territorial governments Loi-cadre Thorez (23 September 1952).
Independentists, occupations
Guinea – In response to the May Decree, local independence-advocate Ahmed Sékou Touré declared independence of Republic of Guinea (26 May 1953), as the first former European colony in Africa. He proclaimed himself acting president, his position was confirmed in a legislative election (still free) in which PDG-RDA won in a landslide (17 October 1953). Touré recognised the Paris government and Guinean troops expelled weak French garrisons. New country aligned with socialist bloc and post-colonial states and became early examples for African independence and Pan-Africanism. Salan of course did not recognise this move, Guinea was even invited to talks about the status of Guinea in the Empire, but Touré rejected it as representative of a sovereign state. France was busy with Algeria and invading Guinea was not priority for them at this time, but Salan was not intending to let them leave, resulting in an attempted invasion (30 March – 2 August 1955) which was repealed by the Guianese military, due to French underestimation of the enemy.
Chad – June 1952, in local election nationalist Chadian Progressive Party, united in alliance with other parties against dominant conservative Chadian Democratic Union, won. Gabriel Lisette became prime minister. He as other African leaders watched events with interest but did not make moves first. French control in Chad was not restored by time of the Constitutional debates, Chad became an associate state, however Lisette declared independence of the Republic of Chad and recognised the Paris government just a day later (26 June 1954) irritating French authorities. France supported a failed coup in 1954 and then financed and directly militarily supported the rebellion led by Islamist Ahmed Hassan Musa since 1955.
Mauritania – Moktar Ould Daddah, leader of Mauritanian Progressive Union, followed a similar pattern as Chad, he attended the Abidjan Conference and then declared Mauritania independent (1 July 1954). He supported Algerians, which was unacceptable for the French, who invaded the country (2-9 October 1954). Daddah’s supporters formed a not so strong guerrilla resistance. N'Diaye Sidi el Moktar was installed as prime minister. Commissioner: Albert Jean Mouragues
Dahomey – In 1952 nationalist Republican Party of Dahomey led by Sourou Migan Apithy won local elections. Dahomey became an associate state and eventually Apithy declared independence of Republic of Dahomey (9 July 1953) and recognised the Paris government. France intervened in the country's politics and would later stage a successful coup in 1957.
Congo – Congolese independence left-wing activist Jean Félix-Tchicaya (Progressive Party of Congo) reacted to May Decree with official recognition of Paris government and declaration of independence of the Republic of Congo (6 June 1953), he was however opposed by substantial part of his party, that ended up splitting. Pro-French part formed UDDIA under Fulbert Youlou, they recognised Salan’s government, wanted to participate in Abidjan Conference, which Tchicaya rejected. Youlou went there, claiming to be Congo representative and called for French intervention, in response to this UDDIA was banned. French forces invaded Congo from Benin (20 September 1954 – 1 October 1954) and quickly occupied it, installing French administration under Fulbert Youlou. Some of Tchicaya supporters formed guerrilla Congo National Liberation Movement (MLNC), starting the Congolese War for Independence. Commissioner: Paul Louis Gabriel Chauvet.
French Sudan->Mali – Modibo Keïta (US-RDA) declared independence of the Republic of Mali in response to the May Decree and the fall of mainland to Thorez government (25 August 1953), however Keïta decided to participate in the Abidjan Conference under French pressure but rejected the associate state status. Mali was invaded by French Senegalese troops and quickly occupied, due to lack of any formal military (14-18 August 1954). Mali was united into the West African Union with Senegal after.
Cameroon – Ruben Um Nyobè, leader of the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon declared independence of the Republic of Cameroon after the May Decree (10 May 1953) and recognised the Paris government, denouncing military coup. Start of the Cameroonian Revolution, weak French units were driven out of the country by a popular uprising. Félix-Roland Moumié became the first president and Ruben Um Nyobè head of the council of ministers. Cameroon was declared to be a sovereign and socialist state. A Pro-French government was formed in exile in Gabon led by Ahmadou Ahidjo under the newly formed Cameroon Union party. France invaded the country after the Congo, starting on 20 October 1954 the Cameroonian war of independence. The first invasion was only semi-successful, and Cameroonians retreated to guerrilla warfare. Commissioner: Roland Joanes Louis Pré and replaced by French military leader André Zeller in 1955 (as part of power struggle with Salan).
Madagascar – National uprising (29 March 1947 – February 1949) brutally crushed. Thorez government moved to address this issues and Madagascar achieved local self-governance in August 1952. Local government was composed of PADESM (led by Philibert Tsiranana), AKFM (led by Richard Andriamanjato and one of released leaders of the uprising Joseph Raseta). Raseta served as the prime minister. Factions within the government were divided on how to respond to the new situation. Communist AKFM was closely linked with PCF and managed to convince other to declare “Malagasy sovereignty” (8 June), eventually Malagasy Republic declared independence on 8 May 1954, Raseta became president and Tsiranana leader of the new government. Election was declared for 1954. Madagascar participated in talks with Algiers government, however it ended with Madagascar not recognising them as legitimate French government and declared itself independent, but Madagascar recognised French control over other territories that used to belong French colony. Madagascar was lucky enough not being invaded but was subject to heavy political meddling from both French governments.
“Associated states”
De-facto French colonies, but with some autonomy and limited self-governance. Local prime-ministers and French appointed High Commissioners, who hold the real power.
Ivory Coast – Félix Houphouët-Boigny (PDCI-RDA), a key ally of Salan’s France, became its prime-minister. He was a supporter of the principle of creation of multiple associated states against groups that supported federation. Commissioners: Camille-Victor Bailly to 1954 and since 1954 Pierre Messmer.
Senegal->West African Union – Léopold Sédar Senghor (BDS) was a proponent of federation, but this was not favoured by Salan’s regime. He nevertheless supported maintaining ties with France and with their support managed to gain control over Mali under the West African Union. Senegal was despite his rule controlled de-facto by the French military. Commissioners: Lucien Eugène Geay (Senegal), Maxime Marie Antoine Jourdain of WAU.
Upper Volta – Henri Guissou (Voltaic Union/ UDIHV) became its first prime minister, he wanted to secure the country's separation from Ivory Coast, but had also independence sympathies. But his position was weak, as the country was divided into many political factions. He was viewed with suspicion by the French and was removed by the Commissioner (30 October 1955) and replaced by politician Gérard Kango Ouédraogo.
Togoland – Nicolas Grunitzky (Togolese Party of Progress) became prime minister. He faced opposition from pro-independence Sylvanus Olympio. Governor: Laurent Elysée Péchoux.
Gabon – Pro-French politician Paul Gondjout (Gabonese Democratic Bloc) was made the prime-minister. Commissioner: Yves Digo
Ubangi-Shari – Barthélemy Boganda of MESAN formed a government (30 May) after the May Decree but waited for further development. He participated in the Abidjan conference and advocated against division. He decided to accept this associated status as he thought declaring independence would lead to conflict with the French. Nevertheless, due to his nationalist ideas, he was quickly dismissed by the French Commissioner and replaced by Étienne Ngounio, who however continued to support the former prime minister. Commissioner: Louis Sanmarco
Niger – 1952 election divided between pro-French Union of Nigerian Independents and Sympathisers (UNIS) and leftist pro-independence Sawaba. Georges Condat-led UNIS was dominant in the assembly, so the followed others becoming an associate state, however Sawaba organised large protests for independence starting in May 1954, culminating in widespread riots. French authorities declared a state of emergency, banned Sawaba and sent in limited military forces in August 1955. Commissioner: Jean Ramadier.
North Africa
Morocco and Tunisia were already on their way to independence, so they immediately declared it after the May Decree (both on 2 May 1953). Both countries became constitutional monarchies. Tunisia – prime-minister Farhat Hached (Neo Destour) and king Muhammad VIII al-Amin. Morocco: Sultan Mohammed V. and prime-minister Ahmed Balafrej (Istiqlal).
Indochina already gained independence in 1952.

  2. Oden : A samurai from a mysterious country with a wish to travel the world. Formation of akazaya nine, Joining of whitebeard pirates, Roger vs Whitebeard, Oden's adventure with Roger, Return to wano and the events upto his execution. Another character marked in golden letters as having the one of the most compelling backstory.
  3. Law : How one man's love and care can change a child forever who is shattered by the cruel world. Corazon takes Law's backstory to a level which very few character manage to achieve. The final scene of Corazon finally dying, his calm effect ending and law finally hearing his own cry realising corazon died, at the same time Marine's attack masking his crying sound from Doflamingo letting him escape is a tear jerker for all time.
  4. Robin : Seeing the right hand of a villain suffer from unfathomable trauma of genocide of her island and asking Luffy to save her with a desperate attempt to be true her own desire was quite heart wrenching.
  5. Brook : Cursed by his devil fruit, he manages to outlive his crewmates and lived decades alone singing and playing music just to not go insane. Oda masterfully showcases the horrors of isolation and loneliness specially if you are the one alive amongst your friends. Which makes Luffy's invitation to join the crew and his acceptance such a wholesome moment.
