Hey everyone,
I love all of the discussion that we have here over cards but the recent spoiling of [[decree of justice]] being reprinted caused me to do something I have done many time in recent weeks.
So.many of us are nostalgic for a time when card design seemed a bit more balanced, where the decks had cool names, where the cards had old borders and we could slap someone for 7 with a mogg fanatic because even though they had removal by the 2nd attack, they figured "ah why bother, they'll just sac it and deal the damage anyway."
I always see complaints on the price of eternal formats like legacy or modern or vintage, people wanting more competitive formats than edh, but still wanting an eternal format. Look no further than premodern!
Premodern is a 60 card (minimum) competitive format where the card pool runs from 4th edition to scourge. For many of us this is a nostalgic time in magic. Most decks (ones that don't involve mox diamond or gaeas cradle) are pretty affordable, usually under 300 or so. The legality of gold border cards helps folks afford many of the formats staples. The format is played by many famous players from former world champion Brian Seldon (who won last year's North armerican national tournament), Michael J Flores who wrote articles like "who's the beatdown" and even current player Andrea Mengucci.
Our format is fast growing, the community is strong and friendly and we are so ready for many of you to join us in the fun. We have Facebook groups (premodern, spike colony podcast) and a few thriving discords for folks who want webcam play OR MTGO games.
I've been playing magic a long time and premodern has the best community around. We have large tournaments nearly worldwide at this point. If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out to me.

I'm an advanced amateur who's been shooting for nearly 70 years (not a typo -- I'm old :) ). Before finally moving to digital, I did my own color film development and printing. Digital is a pure pleasure for me. Besides being able to do far more in editing than I could easily do in the darkroom, my results tend to be less grainy and more saturated (when I want them to be).
I've noticed lots of posts about achieving "film look" with digital images and I really don't understand the appeal. I suppose I can understand trying for a vintage for a specific purpose with a specific shot, but the vast majority of "film look" photographs I see posted in various sites (including the photocritique sub-reddit) just look to me, at best, like poor darkroom work and, at worst, simply incompetent. Please note that I'm not talking about attempts at achieving a very specific effect through manipulation, but of photographs that look, more often, like drug-store-processed snapshots with cheap cameras.
I would appreciate it if someone could explain why people want "film looks" for their digital photographs. Clearly, I must be missing something.

So I recently went travelling around Central Europe, and two countries I focused on were Austria and Hungary. While I was travelling from Vienna to Budapest by train, not long after crossing the border into Hungary I quickly noticed that the shades of green shifted from a bright and vibrant green on the Austrian side to a slightly darker, more greyish shade of green in Hungary. The weather was pretty much consistent, and it took me less than 20 minutes after crossing the border on train to notice it.
Unfortunately I do not have photographic evidence to back it up, so it's kinda more anecdotal. Can someone validate or invalidate my claim, or if there's some sense to what I think I observed, what's the reason?

I have hot chocolate and marshmallows for good friends and ample cups of tea. There’s probably a spot of coffee still around if you prefer, or I’ve got brownies and biscuits in case you’re still feeling peckish.
Now that you are sitting comfortably I thought I'd take the time to introduce myself to you and see if you would be interested in making a new friend.
My name is Emmalena and I’m a novelist, originally from Hertfordshire in the UK, but now based in Suffolk where I live with my husband @BirdmanBard
Neither of us drive, but I really enjoy meeting new people and once shuffling through the awkwardness of small talk, I enjoy discussing a medley of things including:
Cottagecore / Steampunk / Dark Academia / Light Academia : I’m a bit of a nerd and am working with my husband to transform our 3 bed semi into a more cottagey home with touches of nerdery throughout. I’m a Ravenclaw, enjoy 80s-90s anime, Doctor Who and the original 90s series of Charmed and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. You can also find me enjoying a good deep dive into family history searches or looking for Lost Media. We love to entertain friends and family with a good dinner party and board games.
Animals: I love cats and foxes and my mum fosters hedgehogs. Working to improve our garden to be a sensory safe space and haven for the bees.
I am bi but happily monogamous, and have several learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscaulcia and ADHD. I work as a group document controller and I don’t understand sports ball.

- Writing : I’m a published author of a British slice of life comedy novel called “Ginsterpigs”, actively working on my audio book adaptation and my next novel whilst battling writer’s block. I spent years as a freelance lifestyle copywriter and was published 3 times before I was an adult for poetry; and can easily reminisce about my old fanfic days.
- Reading: I love to read and have a soft spot for romances, history and mysteries. Authors like Victoria Holt and Kate Morton.
- Cooking and Baking: I’m flexitarian, allergic to fish and shellfish but enjoy learning different recipes and trying new foods. Happy to swap ideas for meals or different cakes; I make a great giant Jaffa cake cake and a hearty vegetable stew. Also talking about cooking shows.
- Theatre and Musicals: I used to sing and act a bit when I was younger and love musicals, my latest trip to the West End was to see Hamilton and I also enjoy Les Mis and Phantom. A huge fan of supporting local theatre productions too and collecting vintage programmes and monologue books. I also play the harp, piano, synths, sing and can toot a few tunes out on a recorder. Big fan of music from 1950s-1980s, synth pop, hair metal and 90s J-Rock.
