2024.05.19 07:25 mccgi Training for KB Sport - A General Overview

Workout structure:
rep schemes
Rep Schemes for Specific Endurance
variable method can use change in tempo. this is recommended for running (i.e. using sprint intervals during a run) or doing sprints after x reps in longer kb sets
complexes are mentioned especially as effective for stretching, multiple cycles of stretches
Strength training rep schemes:
Cardio Endurance - running, increase duration over time, then increase intensity
Overall Training Structure
microcycle - days to week, mesocycle = month/s, macrocycle - yeaquarteper comp
4 stages of preparation (mesocycles)
  1. 2+ months preparatory - uniform method, running, strength training. first increase volume, then increase intensity.
  2. 1 month/5wks Pre-comp - variable methods, focus on specific endurance
  3. “several weeks” to 1 month peak competition - lower volume, repeated and interval, focus on comp lifts, competitive estimates. still use at least 1 uniform workout per wk
  4. 1-2 weeks post comp - light and short workouts, do not increase workload
in preparation phase 70% is strength training, 30% is classical, slowly moving to 50-50 over time
Ryabchenko Jerk Training Structure -
5 sets per workout. Main sets use kbs 4-6kg lighter than comp weight.
  1. “Power” set 1: Main weight + 4kg. low reps, emphasis on static holds (top and bottom). Followed by 3-5min rest
  2. “Power” set 2: Main weight + 2kg. 2x reps of 1st set, followed by 3-5 mins rest
  3. “Main” set 1 - 40-50% of max 10 minute reps. followed by 30s-2 mins rest (ideally 1’) but not enough to recover
  4. “Main” set 2 - Main1 reps + 2. followed by 3-5mins rest
  5. “Light” set, Main weight - 2kg, reps = two thirds of (main set 1+ main set 2)
Exponential Growth of the Main sets - 5+7, 8+10, 12+14, 17+19, 24+26, 32+34
Jerk Pace 6-22rpm depending on weight, main sets are ~3 minutes, light set is ~5 minutes
Microcycle of 2 weeks, 5-8 workouts. The last workout in the microcycle is the “peak” where max reps are recorded. Last 2 workouts in a microcycle are easier - no “light” set, “power” set reduced in the 2nd to last and ommitted in the last.
Every microcycle, increase the main weight (and therefore everything else) by 1-2 kg

2024.05.19 00:28 OkraNo8365 Is a 56cm bike too big for a 5’7 male?

Per title. I’m 5’7, and I’m looking at a used Trek 1400 road bike with an aluminum frame that’s 56 cm. I’m a beginner, just looking for something to put 10-20 miles on everyday this summer to drop some weight, plus cycling is a hobby I’ve been wanting to take up. I know measurements between MTB and road bikes differ. Would this size work for me as a shorter guy? I can elaborate on more of the specs if needed.

2024.05.18 20:18 jordankk710 Is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson using steroids?

I always find these questions and answers entertaining.
Everyone tries to analyze what hes on etc.
It's easy to see that he has hit well above natural limits multiple times. as for what with and how much or often…. no one knows.
In reality he's taken the standard bodybuilder path (learn about Frank Zane - ‘the chemist' from the golden era).
Dwayne Johnston either cycles on and off — using testosterone bases and more than likely various other compounds at different times. generally what one can get their hands on.
No doubt he's tried, dbol, winstrol, anadrol, masteron, nandrolones (decca, npp), probably tren. he probably does constant hgh or cycles it as well. low doses too I'd say. eg. 2 to 10 iu per day.
If he doesnt do things that way. He just straight out blasts and cruises. eg. spending 3 months on 200mg testosterone cypionate/enanthate each week for 3 months give or take... then blast upwards of 500mg test cyp/enanth while messing with above mentioned compounds in conjunction. I'm betting hes blasted over 1000mgs of testosterone per week for months before while stacking other compounds.
its not like hes just always on one compound. like most people he'll have ‘go-to' gear. stuff that makes him feel good with minimal side effects and grow good too.
I imagine for movies. eg pain and gain he started pinning extra compounds and higher doses.
Then aftwards chilled. dropped doses. maybe hit a cruise (200mg testosterone per week). or perhaps cycled right off? possiblly utilizing hcg and/or clomid and/or nolva and/aromasin to get his testies kicking off.
Personally I'm not sure whether hes blasts/cruises or cycles on and off. and nor are any of you. but one thing is for sure. he ain't all natty bruh :-P
I've spent years around this shyte. This is how its done. It's no different because hes in movies or a super star.
If you walked up to me or one of.my jacked buddies and asked if we juiced. of course we would say no. if you interviewed us (camera or no camera) and asked if we juiced. we're definitely saying no. not only is it illegal just about everywhere. but the minute you admit to it. a shyte storm begins. including everyone going on “oh hes only big because hes on roids" and blah blah.
it does a total discredit to all the hours of hard painful work we put in at the gym. all the food we carefully plan and eat. everything that is involved. its not easy to get massive. even on steroids.

Jimmy Jones

Zwift says my FTP is 4.8W/kg. Should I trust this number?
19y old beginner cyclist with 12weeks of cycling back again. I did my first ramp test and I completed until 340W on zwift and zwift says my FTP is 255 and I was 53kg today so that puts it at 4.8w/kg. This was done on Wahoo kikr v6 with real bike so its not like those peloton ftp. I felt thresholdy until 280W and after 300W my legs were burning and and at 340 i was screaming in pain to get the star. I tried holding 255 for few min and it felt hard but managable so is this my new ftp? until now I used 243 (4.46w/kg) as my ftp cause that was my average power for 1hour effort.

2024.05.18 16:59 danl999 Reducing The Internal Dialogue Through The Irrational

Reducing The Internal Dialogue Through The Irrational

I doubt any beginner men will be able to make use of this. Instead, they're more likely to develop yet another ugly form of pretending, to get out of doing actual work.
Let me help the beginner men out with a simple rule.
If what you are perceiving isn't mildly mind-blowing, then it's pretend.
Doesn't have to make your head explode! But if it's not clearly an "Oh shit, maybe this nonsense is all true!" type experience, then you're almost certainly up to no good. Perhaps imitating some Buddhist visualization technique.
When we say Buddhism has absolutely no magic, and if they believe otherwise please point us to it, someone inevitably drags out the words of a wise Rinpoche, teaching monks how to visualize phantom realms and spirits.
As if that weren't pretty much just beginner's level magic just as we say, and something anyone praying can achieve, or even just an average woman in a bath surrounded by candles and flowers.
To prove Buddhists have magic, they drag out a "Master" who admits they normally don't, calling them all liars.
But explains that he himself lead them to it, with our very own green level magic.
Which isn't even worth discussing in here because the red zone is 100 times more amazing.
But beginner women surely could benefit from knowing about "the irrational" as a tool, because as don Juan said they're already halfway into the abstract. Which is part of which gives them so much talent.
We had some bad player posting that we need to increase the male competition, to put the women back in their place.
Man, that's sick...
I'm going to say he was influenced by Sufism, but that's just because we've had some really ugly Sufi delusions causing trouble in here.
Don't take too much offense.
The Thai Theravada Buddhists are also equally hopeless, with their firm belief that somewhere in some Holy temple, the monks are doing real magic. But they themselves are not worthy to see it yet, so they can't be too serious about learning our sorcery or they might be punished by their Buddhist priest leaders.
I suspect the Sufis are even more afraid of their parent religion. And for good reason.
But so are Catholics. Carlos had an ongoing war with Amy's Catholic beliefs, and we got to hear lectures about the Evils of Bishops, and the sex lives of the Popes.
All in an effort by Carlos, to free Amy from Christian slavery.
Which didn't work. It was even turned against him by his critics.
So how do you make use of this picture?
"The Irrational" is visible to you right now, but we filter it out.
I think the women could allow it, and that would quiet their internal dialogue while perceiving it.
The more advanced men will be able to notice it in the deep red zone and beyond, so once they can move their assemblage point as far as women do naturally, a side effect of their monthly cycle, the men can use the irrational too.
But you have to be able to focus on it steadily, ignoring that it seems pointless.
Just let it exist along with whatever else you are perceiving. Without stopping or you have "reset" the effect.
And that takes more dreaming attention than darkroomers can muster at that level. Even in the red zone, holding your awareness on a strong sight from the second attention, is very "tiring".
Later on you get a continuous view of everything, when you reach Silent Knowledge.
It'll all be there, to choose from.
Just don't be prejudiced against "the irrational" in favor of the concrete.
Like, a portal back in time 3000 years to the world of the old seers.
That's so very tempting, you might ignore everything else.
Which is partly why don Juan advised against "videos in the air".
And told us to look for SMS messages instead.
He might not have been so positive about text, if he'd had a modern Smartphone.
Those make you appreciate the value of "swiping" away videos you aren't interested in.
By the way, Cholita is an avid "swiper".

Here's from the advanced subreddit.
Women can do "Womb Dreaming Darkroom".
But several already figured that out on their own.
Sitting up slightly (the amount seems to vary woman to woman, which might just mean "bed configuration to configuration). Hold the weight in place if it's falling off. And keep your eyes open, don't close them.
It's maybe more properly "Open Eyed Womb Dreaming".
I think darkness would be better, but the mask works too as you can see from this collection of one woman's experiences. Which weren't all at once but likely all in one session.

Is this TREK Madone 4.3 good for 600€?
Hello! I'm a complete cycling noob trying to get my hands on my first bike. I know very little about bikes.
I've read around that it is best to look for something second hand. This bike tops out my budget (600€). It is a TREK Madone from 2014. Would this be a good deal for a beginner?
Thank you very much in advance!

https://preview.redd.it/hd7aza88361d1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f303985561055d0ea7426838bfb0efd3a9979cd5
In an era where mobile presence is indispensable, React Native emerges as a beacon of innovation for app developers. Bridging the gap between performance and development efficiency, React Native allows for the creation of stunning, native-like apps for both iOS and Android from a single codebase. This article will delve into the myriad advantages of using React Native for mobile app development, highlight successful case studies, and provide invaluable insights and resources for developers.

The Unparalleled Benefits of React Native

Cross-Platform Compatibility: One of React Native’s most compelling features is its ability to enable developers to write code once and deploy it across both iOS and Android platforms. This cross-platform compatibility significantly reduces development time and costs, while ensuring a consistent user experience across devices.
Native Performance: Unlike other cross-platform frameworks that rely on webview for rendering, React Native allows components to be rendered to native platform UI, ensuring that apps perform seamlessly and are indistinguishable from those built using native SDKs. This native performance advantage is crucial for maintaining smooth animations and responsiveness in mobile applications.
Extensive Library of React Components: React Native benefits from the React ecosystem, offering developers a vast library of pre-built components that can be reused across different projects. This not only accelerates the development process but also promotes code quality and consistency.

Successful Case Studies

Several leading companies have turned to React Native to power their mobile applications, underscoring the framework’s versatility and efficiency:
Facebook: As the birthplace of React Native, Facebook has utilized the framework to enhance its own mobile app, particularly focusing on improving startup time and event dashboard performance.
Airbnb: Although Airbnb has moved away from React Native, it's worth noting that during its adoption period, React Native enabled the company to streamline development processes and significantly reduce the time required to launch new features.
Instagram: Instagram embraced React Native to facilitate the development of its iOS and Android apps, achieving remarkable improvements in developer velocity and app performance.

Quick Tips for React Native Development

Leverage Native Modules: For functionality that React Native cannot handle directly, use native modules to access native code, ensuring your app can fully utilize device capabilities.
Optimize App Performance: Regularly monitor and optimize your app’s performance by reducing render cycles and leveraging tools like the React Native profiler.
Stay Updated: React Native is continuously evolving, so staying abreast of the latest updates and community contributions is crucial for leveraging new features and improvements.

Enhancing Your Knowledge and Skills

Related Links: For comprehensive learning, the React Native documentation offers an invaluable resource for developers of all levels.
Insights from Industry Leaders: Mark Zuckerberg once remarked on the efficiency gains from React Native, noting significant improvements in development speed and app performance.

Visual and Interactive Resources

2024.05.18 02:05 cslat What's going on with REI's ebikes right now?

I am not really a cyclist but about a year ago I became very interested in getting an ebike and after some research I decided I wanted the REI "Co-op Cycles" CTY e2.2 which, at the time, was on sale for $2000-$2500. It was, as I understand, a good bang-for-the-buck option for someone who wants a beginner commuter ebike (especially since I live near an REI and can get service there).
There was just one problem: it was out of stock in my size and nobody at REI could tell me if it was coming back in stock, being discontinued, or what.
Fast-forward to this year: the CTY e2.2 has returned and is readily available... except it's a different bike with a different motor and it costs $3700. (It's on sale now for $2959.)
That's more than I want to spend so I'm looking at the CTY e2.1, which used to be my second option, but it's also changed. The CTY e2.1 has always been a budget Shimano mid-drive bike but now it's a SR Suntour hub motor bike with various other changes.
I don't know why REI hasn't given new model names/numbers to these very different bikes.
Now it's hard to research the bikes because they have the same name and when I see threads and reviews on Reddit involving these bikes, they're about different bikes with different motors.
I'm hoping someone knowledgeable can explain what has changed between the old and new generation of these bikes (if only for the benefit of future Googlers) and frankly, I'm hoping someone should tell me what I should buy! I'm considering the new e2.1 but there seems to be a broad consensus that mid-drive is better, or that I at least want a torque sensor— and it's unclear if the new model has it.

2024.05.17 18:09 mouhappai Feng Shui at the basics: Terminologies, interior advice, and one simple method to find your home's Qi Generating sector.

Feng Shui at the basics: Terminologies, interior advice, and one simple method to find your home's Qi Generating sector.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui at its core is a divinatory practice based on geomantic principles that aims to improve different aspects of our lives through the harness of the Qi in our environment. It's a method that involves precise formulaic calculations that take into account our immediate space and time, and from them deriving ways to improve our potential in various aspects of life (wealth, health, career, relationships, luck, etc) through the aforementioned means.

Yin and Yang

At the root of Feng Shui is the Taiji aka the Yin/Yang symbol. The Taiji splits into the 2 synergetic opposites Yin and Yang, which further expand into the Greater Yin, Lesser Yang, Lesser Yin, and Greater Yang. These 4 variants become the Bagua aka the 8 Trigrams that we know. See diagram below:
The Eight Trigrams from left to right are Qian, Dui, Li, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Gen, and Kun.

The Five Elements/Phases

Beyond the Eight Trigrams, Feng Shui also has a system of Phases, or sometimes known as the Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Their reactive properties go as below:
  1. Wood generates Fire, Fire generates Earth, Earth generates Metal, Metal generates Water, Water generates Wood
  2. Metal controls Wood, Wood controls Earth, Earth controls Water, Water controls Fire, Fire controls Metal.
Generative reactions and Controlling/Overcoming reactions between the Five Elements

8 Directions, 24 Mountains

Feng Shui being a form of geomancy, the cardinal directions make up an essential aspect in practice. Of the 8 directions, each direction of 45 degrees is divided into 3 directional sections of 15 degrees each, making a total of 24 directions which are called the 24 Mountains. Example, the direction North is divided into N1, N2, N3, and as we approach eastward, it becomes North-east, which divides into NE1, NE2, NE3, and so on.
Notice some directions have a grey background, these indicate their Yin (grey) or Yang (white) quality.

3 Ages and 9 Periods

With the cardinal directions and environmental aspect representing space, now comes the part that represents time. In Feng Shui, time is divided into the 3 ages (60 years per age), and 9 Periods (20 years per period). This is to say that every 3 period of 20 years each will complete one cycle of an age (1 age = 3 periods). The time factor in Feng Shui is generally influenced by (but not limited to) their Yin/Yang qualities and/or associated Trigrams and Phases. More precise temporal factors are observed in some formulas.
  1. Age 1 (Upper age) consists of Periods 1, 2, and 3
  2. Age 2 (Middle age) consists of Periods 4, 5, and 6
  3. Age 3 (Lower age) consists of Periodds 7, 8, 9
After Period 9 (2024-2043), it starts again from period 1 (2044 - 2063).

Basic Interior Advice

  1. Unobstructed front of the house (or living room for apartments)
  2. Keep the living room spacious
  3. Living rooms should be well lit
  4. Avoid overhead beams above beds, desks, dining area, and resting places
  5. Beds should have a headboard
  6. Avoid having the bed too close to the door
  7. Avoid clutter around doors
  8. Have light source in corridors and/or an entry hall
  9. Avoid visible bathrooms upon entering the front door (keep bathroom closed slightly or use curtains)
  10. Keep mirrors to a minimum, especially not in front of a door, bathroom, or directly by the stove.

The Qi Generating Sector

The Qi Generating sector is a beginner friendly, entry-level procedure that only requires knowledge of three things: the numbers 1-9 associated with the 5 Phases/Elements, their cardinal directions, and the Luoshu formula. The Luoshu formula is a 9 section grid filled with the numbers 1 through 9, starting with 5 in the middle, and progressing in a specific pattern around the grid. To understand it better, study the diagram below:
The formula starts from 5 in the center, and progresses in ascending order to 6 in the NW, 7 in the West, 8 in the NE, and so on.
Next, familiarize yourself with the numbers 1 through 9 and their associated elements:
  1. Number 1 = Water
  2. Number 2 = Earth
  3. Number 3 = Wood
  4. Number 4 = Wood
  5. Number 5 = Earth
  6. Number 6 = Metal
  7. Number 7 = Metal
  8. Number 8 = Earth
  9. Number 9 = Fire
Using a compass, stand inside your living room facing out the direction of the front door. Take note of the direction your main door faces, and then use the opposite direction behind you as the number associated with your home based on the Luoshu diagram above. Example, if your home's main door faces East (number 3 on the Luoshu diagram), then your home is a number 7 (West) home. With the number associated with your home, place the number in the center of the 9 section grid in the Luoshu diagram/formula. In my example, the number 7 will now be in the center. Proceed to go in the same order as before, starting from 7 in the middle.
https://preview.redd.it/u1y8j47yh01d1.png?width=400&format=png&auto=webp&s=96ea5d91ed48ce05dee2cd1711dc14103d59a006
Going by the generative and controlling properties of the elements, this Metal (7) home is generated by the element of Earth which is in the South (2) and North-west (8). These two sectors in the living room are the Qi Generating sectors, which we can now locate by standing in the center of the room with a compass in hand. This is the sector of the living room where we can place an aquarium or a water feature to provide the home's occupants with a small boost of generative Qi qualities. Otherwise, more activities in said sectors may also help.
Above is the simplest formula to making a small difference, and it's only a small fraction of what Feng Shui can offer. Feng Shui in its entirety is a pretty complex system that requires a level of expertise and care, and a misstep can result in ineffective set ups at best, or disastrous consequences at worst. Make sure to consult a trusted practitioner before attempting anything complicated.

2024.05.17 12:59 thedoomofdamocles Absolute Beginner Gym Guide

I know there are already guides on this subreddit, but I wanted to create one for the Day 1 beginner, someone who doesn't have any knowledge and even lacks the motivation to make the gym a regular part of their lives.
Exercise:
Yes, diet is important, but I believe that muscle growth is more dependent on what you do in the gym than on what you do outside it.
However, my suggestion for the first few days is just to acclimatize yourself to the gym. Start with the treadmills or the cycles. Maybe try a weight machine just to see how it feels. Make yourself feel like you belong in the gym and then you can move onto the workouts.
A lot of people get frightened of the gym because of how much there is to learn and do there. So rather than explaining the use of each exercise, I thought I’d just give a couple of sample workouts. 3 days a week is a good place for an absolute new inductee to start since most new members may not yet have the dedication or commitment to go to the gym 4,5 or 6 times a week. The program is a full body template so even if you skip day 3, you will have hit most muscle groups at least once just by doing Day 1 and Day 2.
I have two versions here, Lower body dominant and upper body dominant. You can select based on preference but as a general recommendation, based on current day beauty standards, most men would prefer the upper body and most women the lower body versions of the program.
Each exercise is to be performed in sets and reps. Reps are how many times you need to be doing a particular exercise in a particular cycle. Sets are how many cycles of them you need to do. So, if you have 2x6 for squats, that means that you squat six times, then rest a couple of minutes, then squat six times again.
Rest time suggestions may vary but I’d suggest 2-3 minutes on average to start.
The programs are below:
~Lower Body dominant version~
Day 1 Goblet Squats 4x6 Dumbbell Shoulder press 4x8 Lat pulldown 3x10 Leg curl 3x10 Dumbbell Bicep curls 3x12
Day 2 Dumbbell Romanian deadlift 4x8 Dumbbell Bench press 4x6 Seated cable row 3x10 Leg press 3x10 Cable Triceps extension 3x12
Day 3 Assisted pullups 4x6 Dumbbell Lunges 3x12 Chest press machine 3x10 Leg curl 3x12 Dumbbell Lateral raises 3x12

~Upper Body dominant version~
Day 1
Goblet Squats 4x6
Dumbbell Shoulder press 4x8
Lat pulldown 3x10
Cable Triceps Pushdown 3x12
Dumbbell Bicep curls 3x12

Day 2
Dumbbell Romanian deadlift 4x8
Dumbbell Bench press 4x6
Seated cable row 3x10
Dumbbell Lateral Raises 3x10
Cable Triceps overhead extension 3x12

Day 3
Assisted pullups 4x6
Dumbbell Lunges 3x12
Chest press machine 3x10
Dumbbell Hammer curl 3x12
Dumbbell Lateral raises 3x12

I’d suggest following this routine for just the first 4-6 months and then moving onto a routine with more sets/reps/exercises.
Diet:
We all know how to improve our diets. Increase consumption of meat, eggs, fruits, vegetables, legumes, lentils, lower fat dairy, etc. and decrease consumption of fried/sugary/overly processed foods.

That’s how one should start. Yes, all of us want to lose fat and gain muscle. But unless you’re overweight, you don’t necessarily need to start with a cut/calorie deficit. You can take advantage of a phenomenon known as body recomposition. Since your body is detrained/undertrained, you can currently lose fat ~and~ gain muscle at the same time. This phenomenon is easiest to access when you’re an absolute beginner so I’d suggest just cleaning up your diet and focusing on your workout. You can try to get onto a bodybuilders diet and supplement routine once you’re a bit more experienced.

The final points are about patience and sticking to the basics. The journey takes time, years even, but that’s a good thing. You’ll look better today than yesterday and even better tomorrow. I’d suggest not being in a hurry to get there.
Stick to the basics. There are no magic pills, magic exercises, magic routines. The exercise routine I’ve mentioned above isn’t special, they're just one option of many. Weight loss and muscle gain are all about consistency and intensity. Be there every day and progress every day, whether it’s increasing weight, reps or improving your form. In no time, you won’t recognize the new version of you.

2024.05.17 11:56 jakedemn123 Is the game beginner friendly?

I recently just found this game and it looks like a fun experience. However, I've seen a lot of comments that this is an extremely complicated game. Is it good/fun for beginners who know nothing about the game?
UPDATE: just bought the game for around $7.00, been playing for the past 2 hours and its fun so far! laerned that some debri can fall on the door of the toilets and stop them from entering, my dupes are pooping everywhere! water is kinda polluted lol! - CYCLE 4 starts

2024.05.17 09:16 Tendai-Student 👉 What is GoldenSwastika?

------------------------------------🟨🟨-----------------------------------------

📿 GOLDEN SWASTIKA

Golden Swastika is a Buddhist community that centers around normative and historical Buddhism as practiced by hundreds of millions of people around the world. It's a platform that was built as a safe space for all Buddhists of all schools worldwide.
Golden Swastika exists to be a solution to some of the problems facing Buddhist spaces online and in real life. Our mission statement directly addresses these three major problems.
🟡 MISSION STATEMENT
  • 1. Preventing the Secularisation and Misrepresentation of Buddhism.
The rise of the mindfulness, new age and secular "buddhist" movements have led to a commodification of Buddhist practices in the west thanks to the rise of commercialization of Buddhist culture
This commercialization has led to a decontextualization of Buddhist practices and teachings, which has harmed the integrity and authenticity of the tradition in some western spaces. This made it so that sometimes, unfortunately, online buddhist spaces might have non-buddhist members outnumbering the real buddhist members. Which leads to misinformation and misconceptions spread unchecked.
But this community have created an environment where we can talk about buddhism, with proper moderation to prevent non-buddhist ideas or disinformation from getting away. Where we can openly talk about the marginalization facing Asian buddhists, and how Buddhism is culturally appropriated.
If you want to understand this topic better, here is more by Buddhiststuff and Eishin.
- 2. Creating a platform to give voice and power to normative Buddhism
Golden Swastika exists to fight against the modern colonial projects of culturally appropriating Buddhist cultures and call out ideas/people that perpetuate race essentialist and harmful power structures over people of color.
Buddhism and it's misrepresentations does not exist in a color-blind vacuum, and this is a space that is not afraid to talk about these issues. But many times this also comes in the form of just sharing what actual real Buddhism looks like in Buddhist-born families and countries.
- 3. Building a community that opposes both Bigotry and Sectarianism.
This space proudly opposes any form of Sectarianism and Bigotry. Golden Swastika, inspired by the dharma itself, strongly opposes hate of any kind. Racism, Xenophobia, anti-LGBTQ rtheoric etc. is not welcome here. This is a safe space, and a Buddhist one at that.
WE DO NOT TOLERATE HATEFUL APPROPRIATIONS OF THE DHARMA and we strongly oppose ANY FORM of race supremacy, nazism, colonialism, and ideologies that advocate political violence of any kind. Racism is the anti-thesis of Dharma. This community welcomes people from all ethnic and national backgrounds.
On top of that, this is a place for ALL kinds of Buddhists. Buddhists being, any legitimate lineage that earnestly follows the triple gems. Although it is inevitable that all people will have personal conclusions on which practices are good or bad, canon or not, we discourage the type of behaviour that is meant to attack or disparage a fellow buddhist tradition.
🧑 Why do you use a Swastika ❓
The swastika german nazis used were stolen from Dharmic religions and culturally appropriated.
But in truth, It is an ancient sacred symbol that represents the eternal cycle of life, theories of chakra, and the great footprints of Buddha. It is analogous with dharmachakra. It is extremely common to see it in Asia and Buddhist art.
Golden Swastika's soul is about not compromising Buddhism and Buddhist culture to appeal to western sensibilities and expectations. Swastika has been our symbol of peace for thousands of years before the Nazis appropriated it. Starting to use it back in its original meaning is the only way to recontextualise the symbol and educate people in the west of its true meaning.

Huge thank you to Buddhiststuff, who was a reddit user that created this community, which now grew to have multiple branches all over the internet. Without him, none of this would have been possible.

2024.05.17 07:31 Left_Tea_5443 Beginner Cyclist Help

So I've been into self-improvement and fitness recently and want to make it permanent. I'm going to the gym every day (haven't missed a day this month yet) and one of my goals is to lose weight. I used to do a lot of cardio in the gym and stopped it, preferring weights ever since. However, I have wanted to lose weight for a long time to get into shape I would consider decent and healthy. Right now I am 84kg at 172 cm so yes I am quite overweight. Given this and knowing that cardio is better than weights at burning calories, I decided to start cycling. I know lots of people like walking and running, but for me I don't really like walking that much and running is too high intensity for me after a while, even if I'm running slowly my heart rate is too high. Yes I'm quite an unfit person which is why I need your help.
Anyways, I have started cycling in the last couple of days, first with my indoor spin bike and today I also did a ride outside. My aim was to go for Zone 2 training so stay at 120-140 BPM roughly but my area is very undulating so on the uphills it is absolutely impossible for me to stay in Zone 2 and I go to Zone 3 if not Zone 4, in fact on some of these uphills it feels like I am going at about 2km/h, because I'm so unfit. Today I did about 2 hours (1 hour to the park and 1 hour back), but as I said it didn't really go to plan as I went higher than Zone 2. So what should I do?
For now as a beginner, should I just do Zone 2 on the indoor trainer instead (which is much easier to maintain obviously as there are no uphills). Also do you have any advice on how to increase aerobic fitness, cause my main aim is to be able to ride longer and comfortably at some decent speed (even 20kph would be nice). Currently I'm at around 10km/h which is extremely slow and depressing for my 2 hour ride (rode about 20 km), but at least this is the slowest I can get at this point basically right? But yeah leave your tips in the comments, because I would love to get better at cycling, cause I know if you simply get better, you go faster and therefore burn more calories. I find it weird that HR doesn't really matter with cycling, it's all about speed when it comes to burning calories so that's another motivating factor to go a bit faster and for a bit longer as it will assist with weight loss in the long run.

2024.05.17 02:48 Budah1 Repeating weeks making only rep changes?

I’m trying AllPro basic program: Copied from the site:
“A Simple beginner's Routine You will do 3 work outs per week on non consecutive days. The first work out is your heavy work out. The second work out is your medium work out, use 10% less weight for your work sets. The final work out for the week is your lite work out, use 20% less weight.
Do a lite warm up with 1/4 of your work sets weight. Do a medium warm up with 1/2 of your work sets weight. Do 2 work sets with the same weight. Choose a starting weight and start light.
These are the seven exercises you will be starting with.
Squats Bench Presses Bent-Over Rows Overhead Barbell Presses Stiff-Legged Deadlifts Barbell Curls Calf Raises
You will be running this program on a five week cycle as follows: The first week do all 4 sets for 8 reps. The second week do all 4 sets for 9 reps. The third week do all 4 sets for 10 reps. The fourth week do all 4 sets for 11 reps. The fifth week do all 4 sets for 12 reps. If you got all of the required reps on the fifth week then increase the weight by 10% and
repeat the cycle. If you didn't get all of the reps on the fifth week then repeat the cycle with the same weight. You shouldn't need more than one minute rest between the warm up sets and you shouldn't need more than one minute thirty seconds between the work sets. Do some cardio and abs work on non weight training days.”
I’ve made 3 weeks by copy and paste editing the reps per week and %’s per day. Week one-squat / 2x8, 2x8 90% , 2x8 80% Week 2-squat / 2x9, 2x9 90%, 2x9 80%
Is there a way to change reps each week in the formula as they are the only ones that change? Every time I try, it goes ballistic.

2024.05.16 23:50 Hel-Low5302 Can anyone help me figure out why my simulation data is not going through the output port?

I'm a beginner in FPGA programming and I'm trying to implement a noise filter in Verilog on Vivado. When I run behavioral simulation, the output from the filter (x_dat) gives unknown values. I'm trying to run around 100 kHz by doing calculations every 1024 clock cycles with a 125 MHz clock. I'm also doing a division with the Divider Generator IP inside the filter, and the output from that (k_gain) is also unknown (X). The dac_dat_o is the data output from the signal generator that generates a sine wave with the output from the adc_clk , which works fine. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how I can make my calculations run faster?
I spread the calculations to multiple cycles manually (setting a multicycle path as a constraint was too complicated for me) so that there wouldn't be a timing failure. For context, I'm modifying one of Anton Potocnik's projects. Here is my code (full version here):

2024.05.16 23:23 Glittering-Salary617 Planet X XLA

I'm currently looking at getting into cycling, I've always enjoyed it, especially during lockdown when I would go on daily 30km rides. This was using a heavy old mountain bike (bought from Tesco years ago) and so I want to move onto something more specialised now.
I've been looking at eBay and Facebook marketplace to try and find a cheaper option and have stumbled upon a Planet X XLA (Belgian Blue) gravel bike, with road tyres, Tiagra drive set, inline braking and SRAM rival chain.
Is this a good beginner option? I'm struggling to find any real information about the bike online, but I think the weight is around ~16kg, which I believe is on the heavier side for a road bike? Probably because it's a gravel bike with road tyres?
It's looking to cost around £150-£300.
And advice is greatly appreciated

2024.05.16 22:00 digitalselfcare Weight Loss Exercises For Beginners

Weight Loss Exercises For Beginners Most of us live our lives like caged animals. We are built to move around, but a lot of time we put ourselves in a cage. Our bodies are designed for racing across the savannas, but we live a lifestyle meant for moving from the bedroom to the breakfast table, to the car seat, to the office chair, to the restaurant booth, to the living room couch, and back to the bedroom.
Our daily responsibilities of work and home keep us attached to our chairs, and if we want to exercise, we have to plan for it.
Health experts insist that the obesity problem is likely caused as much by lack of physical activity as by eating too much, therefore, exercise is essential to our lives.
But, it does not mean that a lap around the block will remove a daily consumption of donuts. Just exercising alone is not efficient, experts say. They argue that if one only exercises and does not change his or her diet, one may be able to stop weight gain or may even lose a few pounds, but it is not something that one is likely to keep up unless exercise is part of an overall program. The more exercise becomes your regular habit, the easier it is to maintain one's weight.
Here is what to do daily to make sure you get the exercise you need.
  1. Get Quality Sleep.
  2. Walking.
  3. Jogging or Running.
  4. Cycling.
  5. Swimming.
There are lots of exercises that can help you lose weight, it's most important to choose the one you enjoy doing, which will make it most likely for you to stick to it for the long term and see the results you are hoping for.

2024.05.16 20:10 kayakero What are market cycles in the financial markets?

What are market cycles in the financial markets?
When you want to invest in the stock market or trade, it is important to be trained, especially if you are a beginner or Dummy. And one of the concepts that you need to know, and that we teach in our trading courses, are the market cycles in trading and the stock market. It is important to take them into account, so in this article we are going to delve into it.
As a premise, we can affirm that market cycles are the trends that can occur in a given market and environment; These patterns allow some financial assets to perform better than others. Although these cycles rarely have a specific beginning and end point and are best identified when they have already occurred, by following appropriate trading strategies investors can benefit economically from the oscillations of market cycles, identifying the turns or cycle changes.

The phases of the market cycle

Knowing the phases of the market cycle helps us anticipate possible turns in it. It is not easy, it is very difficult to know exactly what month, day or time it can occur, so you have to be attentive, be aware of the information coming from analysts, media and investors to find those changes in the cycle and anticipate
You've probably heard of bubbles and maybe know someone who has been trapped in them. And you can learn a lot from them, but despite this, many investors forget about them when they intervene in the financial markets. We must prevent these turns from catching us off guard and to do so it is essential to train: know the different phases, understand how the markets work and learn technical analysis.
Cycles are frequent in all aspects of life and markets were not going to be any less; So from the outset we can affirm that there are short-term movements or, on the contrary, long-term movements.
Whatever market we are interested in, keep in mind that all markets have similar characteristics and go through the same phases: they are cyclical. They go up, down and down, going up again. When one cycle ends, the next begins.
The problem arises when investors, and there is a large majority, do not remember that financial markets move in cycles, which can lead them to face big problems.
This article is related to the current that links this period with a possible end of the cycle and if so, you may have to make a decision or exit your buying positions and start thinking about sales, or stay but very well protected.
https://preview.redd.it/jl2tkwt3xt0d1.png?width=744&format=png&auto=webp&s=53db3fd10c92e561c7d4a40809fac2ae0b725e69
Let's get right into knowing what the phases of the market cycle are:
Accumulation phase
This phase occurs after the market has bottomed. Here managers who have experience and investors with many tables begin to buy despite the trend. They think the worst is over. If you are in stocks, it is likely that your purchases are highly attractive, bought very close to minimums, or even below your historical records. The overall market sentiment remains bearish.
Media articles preach gloom and gloom, and those who went long through the worst of the bear market have recently capitulated, that is, they have given up and sold the rest of their holdings in disgust. But in the accumulation phase, prices have flattened and for every seller who throws in the towel, there is a brave and experienced investor who picks up. Overall market sentiment begins to shift from negative to neutral .
Bull market phase
At this stage, the market has been stable for a while and is starting to move higher. They start to get on the bus. This group includes technicians who, seeing that the market is making lower highs and higher highs, recognize that the direction and sentiment of the market has changed.
Media stories are beginning to discuss the possibility that the worst is over, but unemployment continues to rise, as do reports of layoffs in many sectors. As this phase matures, more investors get on the bus, the feeling of greed prevails , replacing that of fear. It's funny because right now the strong hands are unloading their positions and starting to leave paper until prices start to level out, or when the rally slows down, the stragglers who have been sitting on the sidelines see it as an opportunity to buy and jump. mass.
Prices make a final parabolic movement, known in technical analysis as a selling climax, which is recognized as the greatest gains in the shortest periods are when they occur. Come on, we scalpers put on our boots! But the cycle is approaching the top of the bubble. Sentiment goes from neutral to bullish to straight up euphoric during this phase.
Distribution Phase
In the third phase of the market cycle, sellers begin to dominate. This part of the cycle is identified by a period in which the bullish sentiment of the previous phase turns into mixed sentiment. Prices can often stay locked in a trading range that can last a few weeks or even months.
For example, when the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) peaked in January 2000, it traded close to its previous peak and stayed there for a period of more than 18 months.
But the distribution phase can come and go quickly. For the Nasdaq, the distribution phase was less than a month, as it peaked in March 2000 and then retreated shortly after.
When this phase is over, the market reverses direction. Classic patterns such as double and triple cups, as well as upper head and shoulders patterns , are examples of movements that occur during the distribution phase. The distribution phase is a very emotional time for the markets as investors are gripped by periods of complete fear interspersed with hope and greed as the market can sometimes appear to be taking off again.
Valuations are extreme on many issues and strong hands have been sitting for a long time. Sentiment is slowly and surely beginning to change, although it is a transition that can happen quickly if accelerated by a strongly negative geopolitical event or bad economic news.
Bearish phase
The fourth and final phase of the cycle is the most painful for those who still have positions. Many cling because their investment has fallen below what they paid for it, behaving like a pirate who falls overboard clutching a bar of gold, refusing to let go in the vain hope of being rescued. Only when the market is down 50% or more do the laggards, many of whom bought during the distribution or early markdown phase, give up or capitulate .
This is where strong hands start to buy and a sign that bottoming is imminent . Here the pessimism is maximum, again this phase will go to accumulation and the latter will start an upward trend and the cycle will begin.

How long can an economic cycle last?

There is no set deadline for each cycle. A cycle can last anywhere from a few weeks to a number of years, depending on the market in question and the time horizon you are looking at.
A day trader with five-minute bars may see four or more complete cycles per day, while, for a real estate investor, one cycle may last 18-20 years.
Although, as we have indicated, there is no specific duration for each cycle, we can distinguish them in this classification in relative terms of time:
  • Short cycles: the average duration of short cycles is about 40 months , without normally reaching the depression phase. They are also known as Kitchin cycles or small cycles.
  • Average cycles: the estimated duration of an average cycle ranges on average between 7 and 11 years . They are a succession of short cycles that are not completely overcome and end up leading to an economic crisis. The middle cycles are also known as Minstrel cycles.
  • Long cycles: obviously long cycles are those that persist the most over time, with a duration that ranges between 47 and 60 years and an average of 54 years in duration. The phases in long cycles, also known as Kondratieff cycles, are gentle and slow. To reach the boom takes a long time and it does so slowly, just like the recession, but it leads to a large-scale economic depression.
Know where we are at all times
It is not necessary to confirm that it is necessary to know what cycle we are in if we move in the world of stock market investments and do trading. But more than knowing where we are at all times, which is not difficult to find out, what we should try to know is when a phase will end and the next one will begin.
To analyze these phases or cycles, we can use some well-known indicators:
  • GDP: if GDP rises, we would find ourselves in an expansionary phase, in which wealth creation is common. If, on the other hand, GDP falls, we would be in a recession phase, with the consequent loss of wealth.
  • Employment: the unemployment rate can tell us what phase of the cycle we are in. If we are in a time of recession, jobs seem to have disappeared, with a high unemployment rate. In times of wealth or expansion, the unemployment rate drops thanks to the creation of new jobs.
Finally, it is convenient to distinguish between economic cycles and seasonal variations or long-term trends.
In trading and the stock market for dummies , with our trading and stock market training courses, we help people who want to invest in the stock market or do trading to observe, distinguish and learn how to manage their investments.

2024.05.16 16:53 indiopicaro1904 How am I doing? 100km ride

Hello fellow cyclists!
About two months ago I started cycling more seriously, as I signed up for a 163km granfondo that will take place in November.
I've been doing 3 rides a week, started with 3x30km, and until last week I was doing 2x30 and 1x50. Yesterday I had the day off and went for my first 100km ride with an ascend of 827mts, and took me 4:27 to finish at an average speed of 22.7km/h. I don't expect the time to be good, but I have no reference to know whether I was too slow or just average beginner slow.
I've been also doing the usual rides fasted, and tried doing the 100km fasted too, but on km 80 I had to stop to have something to eat. I took electrolites pills every hour which prevented the cramps during the whole ride. In this regard I assume that if I feed myself properly will probably cut some minutes.

2024.05.16 13:28 No_Atmosphere_8724 Beginner advice

Long story short I have a back injury where my doctor advised to give up long distance running, so I’m considering cycling as the alternative.
Beginners Road Bike: Sorry if this is a repeated question but what are budget friendly road bikes? I want to try to avoid spending more than $500. If that’s not possible, then I’ll increase my budget.
Sizing: I’m 5’5” at 150lbs. What size bikes should I be looking at? 52cm?
Equipment / Accessories: What else do I need aside from shoes and helmet?
Safety: I’m a morning person so I’ll be riding early in the morning. What are advices for riding before sunrise? My thoughts are riding with bright color clothes, stay to the side of the road, blinking lights, and PPE

2024.05.16 02:58 icecold242 New tall rider, how do I choose a bike

I learned to ride a bike in my early twenties but never rode again after learning. That was about 10 years ago. I want to get into cycling now. How do I choose which bike to get. Style, and size. I’m 6’8, about 245 lbs, about a 36 or 37 inseam, still in pretty good shape if that helps.
I had barely learned the first time so I’m not even sure I’ll remember how to ride if I started now.
I just want to be able to ride with my toddler as she grows and go on trails and such. Nothing major. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
O, Since I’m a beginner I don’t think anything expensive is warranted but I don’t mind paying a little more for quality.
