đź”—Kopari Brightening Aluminum-Free Deodorant for Odor Control

https://preview.redd.it/mn8ls5hu2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b56b3cff06ff1fcdae114a1f12c7e88dedff194
In my journey to discover the best deodorant, Kopari's Brightening Aluminum-Free Roll On Deodorant caught my eye. I'm happy to report that this deodorant has been a game changer for me.
First off, I must say that the fresh melon scent truly transports me to a tropical paradise. It's subtle and not overpowering, which I greatly appreciate. Applying this roll-on is super convenient and mess-free.
One thing that sets this deodorant apart is its unique combination of plant-based actives. These ingredients help provide long-lasting odor protection while simultaneously working to brighten the appearance of my underarms. I didn't experience any serious irritation during the transition, which can be common with natural deodorants.
However, there are a few minor issues that are worth mentioning. Some users have reported a slight stickiness or residue left behind after application. There's also a chance that it may not last all day, especially for individuals with active lifestyles.
Despite these minor cons, Kopari's Brightening Aluminum-Free Roll On Deodorant has truly made a difference in my daily life. Over time, I have noticed that my underarms are visibly brighter and smoother. While it may not be perfect for everyone, I would definitely recommend giving this deodorant a try.

As someone who has struggled with sweaty hands my entire life, I was excited to try out Carpe Antiperspirant Hand and Foot Lotion. The first thing that struck me was the soothing eucalyptus scent, which quickly faded after application but still left me with comforting tingles on my hands and feet. I applied it every night before bed for the recommended four weeks, and I must say, it made a noticeable difference.
One standout feature of Carpe is its non-irritating nature. Unlike some other antiperspirants I've tried, it did not cause any unpleasant sensations or redness on my skin. The lotion also dries quickly, making it easy to apply throughout the day without leaving any residue on my hands or feet.
However, I did experience one minor issue with the foot lotion. When I applied it in the morning right after my shower, it remained sticky for a while, making it a bit uncomfortable to wear shoes. Nonetheless, I found that applying it at night before bed and sleeping in socks worked much better, ensuring that my feet were dry and comfortable come morning.
In summary, while there may be some room for improvement with the foot lotion, overall, Carpe Antiperspirant Hand and Foot Lotion has been a game-changer for me. Its gentle yet effective formula has helped control my excessive sweating and boosted my confidence in both social and professional situations.
For anyone else dealing with this issue, I would highly recommend giving Carpe a try – it might just change your life too!

đź”—Underarm Exfoliation and Odor Control Scrub

https://preview.redd.it/ad4hew6v2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8761b2c0acea6be9373242944b589374055e4c6
I recently discovered Carpe Exfoliating Underarm Wash, and it has quickly become a staple in my shower routine. This gentle scrub effectively cleanses and exfoliates my underarms, leaving them feeling refreshed and ready for the day. The natural oils and witch hazel in the formula help to nourish and soothe my skin, while the exfoliating beads work to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores.
One of the standout features of Carpe Exfoliating Underarm Wash is its ability to reduce odor and improve the performance of my deodorant. I've noticed that even on days when I forget to apply deodorant, my underarms stay fresh and smell great. The energizing minty scent adds an extra layer of freshness, although some users may prefer a more floral or sweet fragrance.
However, some users have reported experiencing mild skin irritation after using the product, so it's essential to perform a patch test before applying it all over your underarms. Overall, I would highly recommend Carpe Exfoliating Underarm Wash to anyone looking for a gentle and effective way to maintain fresh and odor-free underarms.

đź”—On-The-Go Sweat-Fighting Wipes

https://preview.redd.it/zj2lfgiv2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a23502175e125b27d4b5fe23cef52f352207ef1
Carpe's On-The-Go Antiperspirant Underarm Wipes have been a game-changer in my daily life, making the fight against sweat so much easier and more manageable. From the convenience of having individually wrapped wipes that are easy to slip into my purse or pocket to the impressive effectiveness of keeping me dry all day long, these wipes have made a significant difference in how I feel and function on a daily basis.
The 7x9" wipes are not only large enough to comfortably cover the entire underarm area, but they're also incredibly versatile, allowing me to use them on wet, damp, or dry skin with equal ease. The no-residue formula is gentle on the skin, while still providing me with the powerful, refreshing sweat relief I've been looking for.
What sets these wipes apart from other antiperspirants on the market is their ability to be used throughout the day when I'm already sweaty and on-the-move. This has been particularly beneficial during long workdays and during travels, where keeping fresh and dry can often seem like an impossible task.
Of course, no product is perfect, and some users may experience a slight inconvenience with the product transferring to your hands during application. However, this issue can easily be resolved with a quick wash afterward.
Overall, Carpe's On-The-Go Antiperspirant Underarm Wipes have truly been a life saver for me, providing me with the reliable sweat relief and freshness I've been searching for. I highly recommend giving these wipes a try, especially considering the convenient single-use packaging and the affordability of subscribing to a regular supply.

đź”—Clinically Proven Antiperspirant Foot Lotion - Plantar Hyperhidrosis Treatment

https://preview.redd.it/rfu50vwv2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d38c0f335ff8911be832629e8e5e5b401d170264
Carpe Antiperspirant Foot Lotion has become a game-changer in my daily life. As someone who suffers from excessive foot sweat and odor, I was always on the hunt for a solution that would help me regain my confidence. This lotion has been a lifesaver, giving me fresh, dry feet and keeping odor at bay.
The first thing that stood out to me about this product was its smooth, non-greasy texture. Unlike other foot creams I've tried, Carpe doesn't leave a sticky or oily residue on my skin, which is especially important when I'm wearing shoes. The lotion applies easily and dries quickly, making it perfect for busy mornings when I don't have time to wait around for my products to absorb.
Another highlight of Carpe is its natural eucalyptus oil and moisturizing ingredients. While the lotion effectively tackles my sweat problem, it also soothes and hydrates my skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. The gentle scent of eucalyptus is a welcome addition, providing a refreshing aroma that lingers throughout the day.
However, there are a few cons to consider with this product. Firstly, the small tube size may be a concern for some users, especially given the relatively high price point. Additionally, I've noticed that the lotion can leave some residue on socks, which may be unpleasant for some people.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I am extremely satisfied with the results I've seen using Carpe Antiperspirant Foot Lotion. It has greatly improved the quality of my life by eliminating embarrassing sweat and odor issues, and I would highly recommend it to anyone struggling with similar concerns.

đź”—Carpe Antiperspirant Hand Lotion for Hyperhidrosis (Warm Vanilla)

https://preview.redd.it/2oleun8w2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f91eefb9e7990ca68bbc4e12b33e0df439e3d623
Carpe Antiperspirant Hand Lotion has been a game-changer in my daily life. As someone who suffers from hyperhidrosis, I was initially skeptical about its claims to help control hand sweat and make life more comfortable. However, after trying it out for myself, I can confidently say that it works wonders!
The first thing that stood out to me was how quickly the lotion dries on my hands. Unlike other moisturizers that leave a sticky residue, Carpe absorbs quickly and leaves no trace of greasiness behind. Its gentle formula is perfect for those with sensitive skin, as it's paraben-free and cruelty-free.
One major con is the lingering scent of mint, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. While it's not overpowering, it could be off-putting for some users. Another downside is that the product doesn't seem to have a significant moisturizing effect. So, if you're looking for something that also hydrates your skin, this might not be the best choice.
Overall, Carpe Antiperspirant Hand Lotion has made a noticeable difference in my day-to-day life, helping me control my excessive hand sweat and feel more confident in social situations. Its speedy drying time, gentle formula, and effectiveness make it a worthwhile investment for anyone struggling with hyperhidrosis. Just keep in mind that it may not suit everyone's preferences due to its scent and lack of moisturizing properties.

đź”—Fast-Absorbing Anti-Chafing Thigh Lotion for Sweat Reduction

https://preview.redd.it/lbvt5low2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b0c286bf4f5185c097721ee115492cb61aac168
Carpe Thigh Lotion has been my daily companion since I started using it a few weeks ago. The lotion is so lightweight and non-greasy that I feel like I'm not wearing anything on my thighs at all. Its natural ingredients, especially aloe vera, shea butter, and vitamin E, make my skin feel soothed and moisturized all day long.
One of the things that I really appreciate about this product is its pleasant, light scent. Unlike other lotions or deodorants I've tried, Carpe Thigh Lotion doesn't have a strong or overpowering smell, which is perfect for those who are sensitive to strong fragrances.
On the downside, I did notice a white residue left behind after application, but it was easy to wash off my hands and didn't leave any stains on my clothes. Another issue for me was the relatively small product size. Given how frequently I apply the lotion, especially during hot summer days, I find myself running out of it quite quickly.
In summary, I'm very happy with the performance of Carpe Thigh Lotion. Its lightweight formula, natural ingredients, and pleasing scent make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to reduce chafing and dryness on their thighs, especially those who spend a lot of time outdoors or engage in physical activities. I would recommend this product to anyone in search of a reliable and effective solution for preventing chafing and keeping their skin smooth and comfortable all day long.

đź”—Sweat and Odor-Reducing Groin Powder for Men

https://preview.redd.it/6eqwc11x2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd4cc127bf56031dde48e1eb9e4801dcddd82859
I recently tried Carpe Sweat Absorbing Groin Powder and I have to say, it's a game-changer! This product has made my daily life so much more comfortable. It's not just about keeping the sweat at bay; it's about preventing that dreaded chafing that can occur when you're on your feet all day.
The standout feature for me was the quick absorption time. As soon as I applied it, it disappeared into my skin, leaving no trace of residue or visible white powder. I also appreciated how dermatologist-tested and hypoallergenic it is, making it perfect for sensitive skin like mine.
However, there's one thing that could be improved upon. While the powder does an excellent job of reducing sweat, I found that the effect doesn't last quite as long as I'd like. So, if you're planning on being active for a long period, you may need to reapply.
All in all, I highly recommend Carpe Sweat Absorbing Groin Powder for men looking for a reliable solution to stay dry and comfortable all day long. It might not be perfect, but its benefits far outweigh any drawbacks. Give it a try and see for yourself!

đź”—Carpe Clinical Grade Underarm Wipes - Effective Sweat Management Night Wipes

https://preview.redd.it/tz560yix2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5616f46fb22216688de46c1d3cd0a714a7b83f7
I recently incorporated the Carpe Underarm Wipes into my nightly routine and it's been a total game-changer for me. I've struggled with excessive underarm sweating for years and it's finally under control now. After using these every other night along with their exfoliating product and antiperspirant, my underarms stay bone-dry for days. These lavender-scented wipes are such a convenient part of my nightly routine - just rub one on your underarms before bedtime and go to sleep. When you wake up, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how dry and odor-free your underarms remain.
One feature that really stands out is their gentle formula that doesn't cause any itching or irritation, unlike some other antiperspirants. Plus, they're incredibly easy to use and don't require any daily application – just remember to use them every other night.
However, there is one downside to consider: the thickness of the wipes. While they effectively combat underarm sweating, I wish they were a bit thicker so they lasted longer. Despite this minor inconvenience, I'm absolutely thrilled with the results I've experienced since incorporating Carpe Underarm Wipes into my routine.

đź”—Carpe Underarm Antiperspirant and Deodorant Pack of 3 with Free On-the-Go Wipes

https://preview.redd.it/l686m1ox2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=206905e79d34921a52b64ba15c80b90e2c2e7431
As someone who struggles with excessive sweating, I was excited to give Carpe Underarm Antiperspirant a try. I was blown away by its ability to effectively manage my hyperhidrosis symptoms. The soft-foam applicator is gentle on my skin and the natural eucalyptus scent keeps me feeling fresh throughout the day. This unobtrusive deodorant doesn't make me feel like I'm wearing a cloud of fragrance, which I appreciate. A definite pro is the inclusion of free on-the-go wipes, perfect for a quick freshen up on those particularly sweaty days. The only downside? It might not last as long as other brands, but it's a small price to pay for relief from excessive sweating.
Carpe Underarm Antiperspirant is truly a game-changer for those looking to manage their hyperhidrosis symptoms. Its gentle formula and subtle scent make it a joy to use, while the free on-the-go wipes are an added bonus. However, you may find that you need to apply it more frequently than some other brands. Overall, I highly recommend Carpe Deodorant for anyone in need of effective antiperspirant protection.

đź”—Advanced Antiperspirant for Excessive Sweating - Carpe Fresh Powder Scent

https://preview.redd.it/03hyg62y2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8ce785b5848ef957aae30373c9bce39cd2bd62a
As a product review writer, I must say that the Carpe Underarm Antiperspirant has been a real game-changer for me. It's hard to remember life without it. Before discovering this amazing product, I had tried countless deodorants, only to be left with sweat-stained clothes and a lingering embarrassment. But Carpe changed all that.
One feature that really stands out is its long-lasting protection against sweat and odor. Whether I'm at the gym or walking around town on a hot summer day, I can trust that my underarms won't betray me. Another highlight worth mentioning is how gentle it is on my skin. Unlike other antiperspirants that leave me feeling irritated, this one leaves my skin feeling soft and comfortable.
However, there are some downsides. For instance, the applicator can be a bit tricky to use at first. It took me a few tries to get the hang of it, but once I did, applying the cream became second nature. Additionally, while the scent is quite pleasant, it can be a little overpowering for some people.
Overall, I highly recommend Carpe Underarm Antiperspirant to anyone looking for an effective solution to excessive sweating. It's a well-researched and dermatologist-tested product that truly delivers on its promises. Give it a try - your sweaty days might just be over!

đź”—Dermatologist-Recommended Hand Lotion for Sweaty Hands

https://preview.redd.it/kdwzs2ly2d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92b81235d76cfedf156a749e55fee70b60a08374
I've been using Carpe Antiperspirant Hand Lotion for a few weeks now, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer for me. As someone who struggles with excessively sweaty hands, I can attest to the effectiveness of this product. This smooth, quick-drying lotion has managed to keep my hands dry and comfortable from morning till night.
One of the things that stands out about Carpe is its unique formula. Unlike other antiperspirants that can be harsh on the skin, Carpe is not only dermatologist-recommended, but it's also paraben-free and cruelty-free. This means that not only does it work effectively to control sweating, but it also takes care of your skin in the process.
On the flip side, I find that applying Carpe can leave a slightly greasy residue on my hands, which can take a few minutes to absorb completely. While this is a minor inconvenience, the benefits of using Carpe certainly outweigh this small con.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a reliable solution to excessive hand sweat, I'd highly recommend giving Carpe Antiperspirant Hand Lotion a try. Its gentle, skin-friendly formula and impressive performance make it a top pick for me.

đź”—Carpe Antiperspirant Foot Lotion - 1.35 fl oz

As a reviewer who's had the chance to use Carpe Antiperspirant Foot Lotion, I couldn't be happier with the results. Before trying this product, I struggled daily with sweaty feet, and it impacted not only my comfort but also my self-confidence. However, Carpe has completely transformed my experience. Not only does it offer protection against blisters, but it also ensures my feet remain fresh all day long, thanks to its essential ingredient enriched formula. Its gentle, paraben-free composition on my skin is another stand-out feature.
While this lotion has worked wonders for me, it's worth mentioning that it does leave a somewhat funny film on your feet and can be more expensive than other products. However, if you're tired of trying everything and nothing seems to work, Carpe Antiperspirant Foot Lotion is definitely worth the investment. It's a product I will gladly continue using and recommend to others.

Buyer's Guide

Apply your Carpe Deodorant generously and evenly to clean, dry armpits. Allow it to dry completely before dressing to prevent any potential staining. For optimal results, apply after showering and try not to apply too much, as this may lead to decreased effectiveness. Finally, note that while some consumers report immediate results, others may need to use the product consistently for a few days or weeks to see the desired outcome.

snapped frame
I was lucky. I was riding and felt that something didn't feel right. I stopped for a moment and when I got back on the bike it just melted. The front just pulled away.
So lucky escape.
I guess I know the answer to this, but wondered if anyone thought that this could even possible be welded back together. The bike is an early 5 speed in red and black - which seemed a really common combination for this period.
I'm looking in to frames as a way forward, but for some reason I think the frames were slightly different length back then - this would probably mean I'd have problems.
I thought about just replacing the front bit of the frame, but I'm not sure that part even exists on it's own.
I also have a little issue with the 5 speed hub (might not be the hub I guess) in that I can't really backpedal without a noise and the chain goes very slack on the top.
I love this bike and would really like to be able to fix, but I have a feeling you'll all think I'm nuts ;-)
Thanks in advance.
edit - for some reason my picture didn't get included. Not sure how to add it in now - that's a blow

2024.05.19 12:34 RepulsiveVacation115 I (25M) am having a hard time after going through my (24F) girlfriends phone. Looking for advice on how to proceed?

My girlfriend (Lets call her Jane) and I have been together for over a year and a half. We have a healthy relationship and both love each other very much.
After our first few dates, I started feeling for Jane a lot. Around this time I found out that Jane had slept with one of my best friends (she told me)
I said it didn't bug me in the moment because I didn't want to be rude and I'm sure it wasn't easy for her to bring that up but I have always felt uneasy about it.
Let's call him John. It is a tough pill to swallow but I sort of disregarded it as much as I could. Jane and I don't talk about it ever. I try to avoid having them in the same room as much as I can but its impossible to completely avoid.
I went through Janes phone as she was sleeping (dumb idea) and went through her group chat. I searched my name in her texts, cheat, sex, John, etc. Just a bunch of stuff to pull up buried texts and see if there's anything I'm missing.
I found texts from her talking about John (old texts) talking about their sex and how good-looking he is and how bad she wants to date him etc. (John ghosted her)
She also sent a picture in her group chat of my other best friend (not John) and I was in the photo as well (before we dated) talking about how my other best friend (Not John) is "super hot" and said nothing about me. This was my least favourite part.
I also read stuff about how she was having "raw sex" with other men (2 maybe 3) during the time we were having our first few dates together before we talked about being exclusive then eventually Bf and GF.
I know I am stupid for looking through her phone and doing this to myself but I felt like I had too. Now I am feeling some sort of hatred to my friends and my girlfriend.
I love her very much and they are my 2 best friends but this whole situation has made me very upset and I'm not sure what to do.

2024.05.19 12:34 No-Gap8808 Worried for a friend’s situation.

As the title says, I’m worried for my friend and what seems to be an increasingly toxic relationship between her boyfriend and two of her other friends.
For the sake of anonymity I’m not disclosing any details but as a reference we are all in our early 20s.
Yesterday we went out for a meal, and I had met one of her friends for the first time, and the other I’ve met maybe 2-3 times before. The experiences really haven’t been pleasant, to say the least. Regardless this post isn’t about me, I’m just wondering what I can do to support a friend that is blind to what’s going on in front of her.
I first realised that the first friend seems to have a very VERY close relationship with her boyfriend. Like too close for comfort. They’ve bought loads of matching shirts, call each other “Big Bean” and “Little Bean” and other cutesy nicknames, and are constantly all over each other at social events. The second friend I met yesterday also felt comfortable enough to sit on his lap without asking and be very touchy with him right in front of my friend. The boyfriend is enjoying this attention. They’re both really pretty girls so I’m not surprised in the slightest, but it seems whenever we’re out at these social events the attention is all centred around them. It makes everyone else extremely uncomfortable, but no one says anything. No one seems to bat an eyelid.
The first friend has even gone as far as to book concerts and hotels with said boyfriend without my friend’s knowledge. My friend claims that she is fine with all of this, but I’ve heard that this has really upset her in the past.
In every picture or video, one of them is always closer to her boyfriend. Riding on his back, cuddled up to his chest; I just don’t understand how or why she could be fine with this. Maybe I am reading into this all wrong, and I know it’s none of my business, but I am really worried about this dynamic and how it appears there’s no boundaries between them at all. I have been friends with said boyfriend for longer than my friend has even dated him, I have never once been touchy or feely with him and wouldn’t because that is one of my best friends.
Is there anything I can do? I can see it’s upsetting her. I can see this is wrong. I don’t know how everyone seems to be indifferent towards it. I know I should not get involved, but I can see this turning sour quickly.
Tl;dr: My friend seems to be letting her two friends be very touchy and feely with her boyfriend and I’m worried about the toxic dynamic.

2024.05.19 12:33 afilthyredditor Xperia 1 VI Initial Impressions

I had the chance to try out the 1 VI yesterday. I am in the market for a new phone and was looking at the S24 Ultra and Pixel 8 Pro. Of the two, I liked the Pixel 8 Pro: despite some reviews saying it's video taking capabilities were good but not as good as its competitors, it's size and stock android experience were more preferable than the S24 Ultra. Anyway, this is about the 1 VI.
Build Quality It's a crossover from 1 V, though the 1 V is closer to the 1 IV when held in hand. The main factor is the screen. It feels light but grippy thanks to its case design.
Screen Gotta be honest here. If I had more time with it, I probably could make out more differences with my 1 IV or the demo 1 V. The shop might not be the best place with its interior lighting. But I honestly thought the 1 VI had the better screen, didn't really notice any pixelation effect. One thing I did not like with the 1 IV was its screen was too dim. I often had to do scrutinize my photos and videos for insufficient lighting and exposure because of the screen dimness. I really appreciate the increase in brightness. Despite that, there doesn't seem to be any noticeable deficiency of viewing experience from a 4k to a 1080p resolution. The 1 VI sharpness and vividness were somewhat better, might be due to the increase in brightness. With regards to playback of 4k recorded videos, I did not notice any deficiency as well. I saw some claims of 4k video playback taking a hit with the new display but the experience was not too dissimilar from the 1 IV and 1 V. So to test this, I streamed some 4k videos from youtube and recorded some 4k videos as well. My fears weren't really confirmed. But I have to say one thing I really doubted from the many reviewers commenting that the downgrade was nothing to worry about, I wouldn't say I was blown away by the quality. Perhaps the 1 IV has spoiled me to the point of not really being blown away by any other phone display, the S24 Ultra's and Pixel's screens included.
Performance I didn't really notice any throttling while using it. Most of the time I was snapping pics and recording videos. My biggest concern with the 1 IV was the overheating. The 1 VI didn't seem to overheat. It was quite snappy.
Cameras Gotta be honest here as well. In terms of quality, I couldn't really notice any glaring improvements. Seemed like more of the same with the 1 IV, with some additional toys to play with. Granted, I'm not the type to scrutinize photos like I'm playing "spot the difference" games. So my expectations of taking good photos are still met. My experience with the new app though was not that good, though I could say the same thing when learning the Xperia's camera suite. With the amount of manual configurations, the old camera suite encouraged fiddling and experimentation. But since there were 3, each had a purpose different from each other. Imagine collapsing all of those things into one app. My initial impressions are mixed. While I do appreciate one app, the execution could have been done better. With the S24U and P8P pro modes, they were able to present a clean and uncluttered interface by presenting users with the basic functions and tucking away the pro features in advanced menus. With the camera app, it was like using the Office Ribbon/toolbar. You could easily fill up the screen with sub-menus with a few clicks. I saw a post here comparing the interface with pixel's camera app, they weren't really mistaken. While the old camera suite was overwhelming at first, I grew to appreciate, embrace and enjoy them over time. I hope the experience would be the same with this unified app.
The thing that stopped me from buying the 1 VI over the P8P was the fingerprint scanner. Mine is currently broken due to the recent update. I can only reuse the fingerprint scanner after powering off the phone for 10 minutes with the case off to let it cool down. Even with this, it's not guaranteed to work all the time. And it's quite annoying to do. This really interferes with utilizing the phone, especially doing banking. But I ended up pulling the trigger on the 1 VI since it seemed like I was still getting an upgrade despite many people's misgivings on the downgraded screen and the price. To me, I understand both camps. The display is a major part of phones. It superseded tactile keyboards as our way of interaction. A 4k display is a premium feature. Getting something less as part of an integral feature affects the perception of the phone's "premiumness", it's quality. While Sony did make major changes and improvements in other areas, it rightly attracted negative feedback due to the resolution change. But then, that's the thing. The 1 VI isn't only just a display, it's also many things as well. It's a battery that's able to power a good display, multiple cameras and the best chip on the current market. It's an SD card slot that can store your pictures, videos and files. It's a headphone jack which allows you to use headsets and IEMs. It's many things constituting to one device. While the price is quite high, it's not absurdly high from my perspective.
Final note: one thing I really don't like with my 1 IV is the read and write speeds to the SD card. You can slap on the best in class SD card inside but it's throttled. I learned this the hard way. Hopefully, but I'm not counting on it, they improved upon this and increase or just leave this be. Just let the read/write speeds be as quick as they're supposed to be. I understand the decision a bit since transferring files to the SD card warms up the phone. I don't know if it's a Xperia design issue or a limitation on phones themselves but really looking forward in improvements here.

Using the Mustad Carolina Rig Assorted Fishing Hook Kit in my local river was a game-changer. The variety in sizes and materials of the hooks in the kit allowed me to test out different techniques with ease. They were well-made and sturdy, allowing me to catch several fish with just a few modifications to my lure.
However, I encountered a slight challenge when trying to attach the weight to the hook. The connection wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped, and it took a bit more time to get it right. The kit also lacked instructions, which might have made this process easier for a beginner.
Despite these small setbacks, the Carolina Rig Assorted Fishing Hook Kit made my fishing experience more enjoyable and versatile. Its array of hooks and additional accessories made it a valuable tool for both new and experienced anglers looking to spice up their fishing techniques.

I've been fishing with the Carolina Ready Rig for a few weeks now and it's been a game changer. As a seasoned angler, I appreciate how effortlessly this rig eliminates the need for hunting around my tackle box for small components. Top Brass Tackle has really thought this through, from the precise brass weight to the no-fuss 10 mm glass bead.
One aspect I particularly enjoy is how the design makes my fishing sessions much easier. No more struggling with bead placement or dealing with broken beads after a few casts. This rig is an excellent option for both novice and experienced anglers alike. Plus, the durability of the brass sinker and stainless steel wire leader makes it perfect for salt and freshwater fishing.
The only small con was that initially, the shiny brass finish on the sinker changed color after a few weeks in saltwater. But overall, I've been really happy with this Carolina Ready Rig. It's made my fishing sessions more efficient and enjoyable, and I look forward to catching more fish with it.

As an avid fisherman, I've tried a variety of rigging kits to snag the biggest catches. Eagle Claw's 52 Piece Carolina Rigging Kit is a game-changer. Its attention to detail and quality is clear from the moment you unpack the kit.
From sliding sinkers that slip through even the thickest weeds to ball-bearing swivels, this Carolina rig kit delivers on its promises. My personal favorite - the fish-catching noise it produces - is truly remarkable. It's helped me snag more fish than I've ever caught before.
That being said, the one area where it could be improved is the labeling of the sinkers by weight. Even though the variety of weights is great, it would be more helpful if they were marked clearly. Also, if you're in an area where lead sinkers are not allowed, this might not be the kit for you.
Overall, Eagle Claw's Carolina Rigging Kit is a fantastic addition to any fishing gear collection. It's a go-to for catfish and bass enthusiasts alike.

đź”—6th Sense Carolina Pre Rig 3/8oz - Efficient Bass Fishing Solution

https://preview.redd.it/mco5ezq02d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc84a547060350752e78dc3c5f69f9aa0cd2b5aa
As someone who has spent countless hours on the water, the 6th Sense Carolina Pre Rig 3/8oz has been a game-changer for me. After dealing with the frustrations of rigging my Carolina Rig and dealing with the constant break-offs, I decided to give this pre-rig a try.
One of the biggest highlights for me has been the time-saving aspect. With the pre-rigged hook, I can spend more time casting and reeling in fish instead of tying knots and fiddling with excess weight. Not only does it save time, but it has significantly reduced the number of break-offs I've experienced, keeping my line intact and increasing my chances of landing a big one.
The durability of this pre-rig is also top-notch. The flexible wire has allowed me to drag it through every type of structure without getting hung up, giving me the freedom to focus on the fish rather than worrying about losing my rig. Plus, the fact that it comes in three different sizes and two different metals (lead and tungsten) means there's an option for any fishing situation.
Of course, nothing is perfect, and I did encounter a minor drawback when switching between lead and tungsten options. The switch required me to remove the weight and reattach it, which took a bit of extra time. However, this small inconvenience is easily outweighed by the benefits this pre-rig provides. Overall, I'd highly recommend the 6th Sense Carolina Pre Rig 3/8oz to anyone looking to save time, reduce break-offs, and increase their chances of catching bass.

đź”—Carolina Ready Rig Hook for Sensitive Baits

In my experience, the Top Brass Carolina Ready Rig has been a game-changer. I remember the first time I used it, it was a chilly morning and I was struggling to put together a Carolina rig, but these pre-assembled ones made my life so much easier. Each rig is made with brass, glass beads, and Pro-Tickers, which together create a loud and attention-grabbing presence in the water.
The best part for me? No more fumbling with beads and weights in cold weather. Each rig comes already assembled and ready to use, saving me a considerable amount of time. Plus, they're built strong and sturdy, holding up well even in challenging fishing conditions.
However, there was one downside I noticed. On a couple of occasions, the wires seemed to bend easily, causing some issues in the line. But overall, the pros outweighed the cons, and I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an efficient and reliable Carolina rig solution.

đź”—Quality Carolina Live Bait King Rig for Tournament Fishermen

https://preview.redd.it/tbvz3ym12d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98019d2d98805ebd77a3d041090271937c8222e6
Using the Sea Striker Carolina Live Bait King Rig has been a game-changer in my fishing adventure. The slow troll rig is perfect for tournament fishermen like myself, with its bronze hooks that are professionally snelled with 60 lb. camo coated wire. The live bait size 2/0 nose hook and the 4X Eagle Claw size 4 treble hooks have proved reliable and sturdy during my fishing trips.
Model LBR has one treble hook and model DLBR has two treble hooks, both variations offering different options depending on your fishing needs. The leader is neatly finished off with a size 7 barrel swivel, ensuring smooth and stable action. This rig also comes with an optional ultra mylar duster, which adds an extra layer of attractiveness for the fish.
While using the Sea Striker Carolina Live Bait King Rig, I found some pros and cons in my experience. The pros were the reliable hooks, the versatility of having two different treble hook models, and the option to add the ultra mylar duster for additional attraction. However, the cons were the lack of information on the product specs and minimal user reviews. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Sea Striker Carolina Live Bait King Rig remains a trusty tool in my fishing arsenal.

đź”—Complete Carolina Rig Kit for Ultimate Fishing Experience

When I first received the Crme Lure Carolina Rig Kit, I was impressed by its compact, organizer-like nature, designed to keep all the lures and rigging in one place. The variety of colors available in the lures made me excited to see how they'd perform in the water. On my first fishing trip with this kit, I encountered a rather small bass. Although it wasn't a monster catch, I managed to hook it using a Carolina rig from this kit.
One downside I encountered was the difficulty in finding the appropriate rigging components. The instructions provided were quite detailed, but they seemed to be written for an audience with more experience in fishing. Nevertheless, I managed to work it out with a bit of trial and error.
The lures themselves performed quite well, with different types of lures attracting diverse species of fish. However, they did have a tendency to get snagged on underwater debris, which was a bit of a setback.
Despite the initial challenges, I found the Crme Lure Carolina Rig Kit to be a versatile and durable tool for improving my fishing skills. As a beginner, it was great to have a handy reference in the form of a comprehensive guide. Additionally, the rigging components were high-quality and seemed to withstand the test of time.
In summary, the Carolina Rig Lure Kit is an excellent selection for novice or experienced fishermen who want to enhance their skills with a variety of rigging options. The kit offers great value with a plethora of lures and rigging components, and I'd definitely recommend it. Just remember to keep an eye out for potential rigging fumbles and stay patient when it comes to using instructions.

đź”—Owner Rig N Hook - High-Quality Fishing Equipment for Your Adventures

I had the opportunity to try out Owner Rig N Hook while fishing for my daily catch. As an avid fisherman, I've used various hooks in the past, but this one stood out for its unique features and incredible performance.
One of the most noticeable aspects of Owner Rig N Hook is its sharp and sturdy cutting point. It's designed to provide a strong and reliable hookset, ensuring that my catch does not escape. The black chrome finish not only adds a touch of elegance but also offers enhanced corrosion resistance, which is perfect for my trips to the lake.
The short shank on these hooks is particularly useful when working with plastics that have a short but thick profile, such as spider grubs or creature baits. The wide gap and heavy wire make it an ideal choice for Texas RigN and Carolina RigN, as well as Split ShotN techniques.
However, I did notice that these hooks tend to straighten more often than other hooks. While it's not a major issue, it's something to keep in mind when using them, especially for larger fish.
Overall, Owner Rig N Hook has become a staple in my tackle box. It provides a reliable and efficient hookset, making my fishing experiences all the more enjoyable. The high-quality materials and design make it a worthwhile investment for any avid fisherman.

đź”—Top Brass Carolina Ready Rig - Loudest 5/16 oz Black Hook Set

The Carolina Ready Rig is a game-changer in the world of fishing. This sturdy and easy-to-use rig is made with Top Brass's brass weights, glass beads, and Pro-Tickers, creating the loudest rig any fisherman has ever heard. The combination of these materials results in a perfect Carolina rig that can withstand even the toughest fishing conditions.
One of the biggest highlights of this product is the time it saves. Gone are the days of digging out beads and weights, as the Top Brass Carolina Ready Rig is already pre-rigged and ready to go. The rigs are simple to use and make attaching lures a breeze, saving valuable time on the water. However, the wire on these rigs can be delicate and may bend easily, causing some problems.
Despite this minor issue, the Top Brass Carolina Ready Rig is a top-quality product that is designed to last. The materials are of high quality and the pricing is reasonable, making these rigs accessible to all. Overall, the Carolina Ready Rig is an excellent choice for anyone looking to catch more fish with less hassle.

In my experience, the Strike King EZ-Rig Carolina Rig Sinker has been a game-changer in my fishing trips. The convenience of having everything pre-rigged has saved me a lot of valuable fishing time. The glass beads not only produce a rattling sound that attracts fish, but they also add a flashy appearance that helps to make a big impact.
The stainless steel wire ensures that the rig will hold up even after multiple uses. The environmentally friendly brass weights are also a huge plus, as they add the right amount of weight without causing any harm to the environment.
The rig is compact and easy to carry, making it a top choice for anyone looking for a quick and simple set-up. Overall, the Strike King Lures Carolina Rig Weight has been a lifesaver for me during my fishing adventures.

I recently tried out Karl's Stash Carolina Rig Kit, and I must say, it was quite the experience. As someone who's always on the lookout for a good fishing setup, this kit caught my eye with its promise of a tried and true fish catching system.
The first thing that struck me was the design of the rig itself. Its heavy power, coupled with a moderate fast action, provided me with an unexpected amount of precision and control. The line, which was perfect for a weight range of 14-20lb Fluorocarbon or Monofilament, held up incredibly well under the strain of my fishing escapades.
However, there were a couple of aspects that I didn't quite gel with. For one, the brass weights seemed a bit outdated compared to the tungsten ones I've gotten used to. Another minor inconvenience was the large weights that sometimes bogged down in the sand, making retrieval a smidgen more difficult.
Despite these minor setbacks, I found myself consistently landing good catches with the help of this rig. Its simple, yet effective design makes it a great choice for both beginners and experienced fishers alike. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking to spice up your fishing experience. After all, the proof of the pudding is in the catching, and this rig sure does catch!

I've been using the Top Brass Carolina Ready Rigs for my fishing trips, and I must say, they've made my life so much easier. The brass weights, glass beads, and Pro-Tickers create a loud, fish-enticing rig that is ready to use right out of the box.
One thing that stood out to me was the sturdiness of the rig. It's a well-made product that can handle the rough and tumble of a day on the water. I also appreciated the ease of use - it's a simple, straightforward rig that's perfect for those times when I don't want to spend a lot of time on prep work.
That being said, there were a couple of downsides as well. Occasionally, the wire would bend easily, causing issues with the rig. And while the one bead not three thing was a minor inconvenience, it was nothing that couldn't be fixed with a quick trip to the hardware store or a little bit of DIY ingenuity.
All in all, the Top Brass Carolina Ready Rigs are a solid choice for any angler looking to make their fishing trips a little easier. They're well-made, easy to use, and a great time-saver.

đź”—Easy-Adjust Carolina Rig Hook - 8 Pack

I recently started using the Carolina Keeper 8 pack and I must say it has greatly improved my fishing experience. What stands out in my experience is how easy and convenient it is to tie that one knot instead of the three that I used to need. It eliminates the swivel and simplifies the process of adjusting the leader length. The keeper even works well for different types of fish like striper, hybrid, trout, and all saltwater species.
One of the pros of using this product is the ease of setting up the Carolina rig. It saves a lot of time and effort compared to using a swivel and tying knots. However, a minor con that I've encountered is that the keeper may slide down the line if you're using heavy weights, especially in heavier currents.
Overall, the Carolina Keeper is an excellent product that has made the Carolina rig setup convenient and efficient. Despite the minor drawback, the pros definitely outweigh the cons, and I highly recommend it to any angler looking to improve their fishing game.

Buyer's Guide

Welcome to the buyer's guide section for Carolina Rig Hooks. In this guide, we will discuss the important features to consider when purchasing a Carolina Rig Hook, as well as general advice to help you make the best choice for your needs. Let's dive in and explore this exciting category of fishing tackle.

Features to Consider

  1. Material: Look for hooks made from high-quality materials like premium stainless steel or titanium. These materials provide long-lasting durability and excellent performance in different fishing conditions. Steel hooks are stronger and more resistant to corrosion, while titanium hooks are lighter and more durable.
  2. Size and Weight: Choose a hook size that matches the lure and the intended target fish. The weight of the hook also plays a role in its functionality, as heavier hooks will be more effective in deeper waters or when targeting larger fish. Make sure to select a size that provides a proper balance of hook size, weight, and grip.
  3. Shape: The hook shape can affect its performance and catch rate. Most Carolina Rig Hooks are designed with a J-hook or a Sickle hook. J-hooks provide better hookup ratios, while Sickle hooks are more effective in maintaining their position in the mouth of the fish during the fight.
  4. Strength: Look for hooks with strong shanks and welding points to ensure they can hold up to the demands of fishing. Quality hooks are designed to withstand the wear and tear of being submerged in water and dealing with aggressive fish.
  5. Finish: The hook's finish plays a role in its durability, appearance, and attractiveness to fish. Chrome, silver, and black finishing options are available, with each providing its own unique benefits.

Additional Considerations

  1. Price: There is a wide range of prices for Carolina Rig Hooks, from affordable options to premium picks. Determine your budget and consider how much you want to spend on this essential fishing accessory.
  2. Brand Reputation: Research different brands to determine their reputation for quality, performance, and customer support. Positive reviews and experiences from fellow anglers can help you make an informed decision.
  3. Warranty and Return Policy: Look for brands that offer warranties and return policies that provide peace of mind in case you need to replace or return your hook.

General Advice

  1. Always inspect your hooks before using them, checking for any signs of damage, rust, or weak points that could impair their performance.
  2. Store your hooks properly to prevent damage and ensure their longevity. Protective cases or storage boxes with UV-resistant materials are ideal for storing your hooks.
  3. Experiment with different hook sizes, shapes, and finishes to find the perfect combination for your fishing style and target species.
By considering the features discussed in this guide, you can make an informed decision when purchasing a Carolina Rig Hook. Remember to prioritize the material, size, weight, shape, strength, and finish that best suit your needs and budget. With these factors in mind, you can enjoy successful fishing adventures and reap the rewards of your well-prepared tackle box.

What is a Carolina rig hook?

A Carolina rig hook is a specific type of fishing hook designed for use with the Carolina rig, a widely popular fishing technique in the Southeastern United States. These hooks are typically made of strong, durable materials and are suitable for catching a variety of freshwater fish, such as bass, catfish, and sunfish.

What makes a Carolina rig hook different from other fishing hooks?

There are a few key differences between a Carolina rig hook and other fishing hooks: 1. They have a slightly different shape, typically featuring a straight body with two wide gaps between the shank and the eye. 2. Carolina rig hooks are designed to be fished with a heavy sinker attached to a leader, which allows the hook to sink quickly through the water column. 3. They can be used with live bait or artificial lures, making them versatile for various fishing scenarios.

https://preview.redd.it/fgj539892d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb1812ba6a34075f7164a85e09ded35585b83170

What materials are Carolina rig hooks made of?

Carolina rig hooks are usually made from high-quality metal alloys, such as steel or tungsten, as these materials offer superior strength and durability. Some hooks may also incorporate nickel, titanium, or other coatings to improve their anti-corrosion properties.

What are the benefits of using a Carolina rig hook?

  • Increased durability and strength, allowing for more successful catches.
  • Ability to be used with a wide range of baits and lures, making it a versatile tool.
  • The heavy sinker attached to the leader allows the hook to reach deeper water levels and target larger fish species.
  • The hook's shape enables it to penetrate the fish's mouth more effectively, increasing the chances of successful hookups.

How do I rig a Carolina rig hook?

To rig a Carolina rig, follow these steps: 1. Thread the leader onto the rod or line, with the heavier end at the bottom. 2. Slide on a sinker, adjusting the weight according to the depth and current conditions. 3. Attach the Carolina rig hook to the leader, with the loop end facing upwards. 4. Add a swivel between the leader and the line to prevent line twist. 5. Tie on your bait or lure, ensuring it is secure and free to move naturally. 6. Cast your line and wait for a bite.

Are Carolina rig hooks compatible with other fishing techniques?

While Carolina rig hooks are specifically designed for use with the Carolina rig, they can also be used with other fishing techniques, such as the bottom bait rig, as long as the correct size and weight are chosen.

What size and weight should I choose for my Carolina rig hook?

The choice of hook size and weight will depend on the type of bait or lure you are using and the target fish species. As a general rule, smaller hooks are suitable for smaller baits and fish, while larger hooks are appropriate for larger baits and fish. When determining the weight, consider the depth and current conditions to ensure the hook sinks properly and is not too heavy or too light for the chosen bait or lure.

2024.05.19 12:32 Obvious-Statement284 How Dionysus was handled in the finale

I just need to get this out there, because the whole Dionysus situation was SO POORLY HANDLED especially in the finale and I can't stop thinking about it.
So yeah, let's talk about how quickly Dionysus was dismissed after Perse got her powers back or whatever.
I'm insanely confused about the time skip in the epilogue. Persephone mentions "a lot has changed over the past three months", so I assume... 3 months have passed? And Dionysus is a teen now for some reason.
Dionysus is born after the divide (perse's punishment era), and Persephone helped deliver him from Zeus' thigh (ep 248). Semele died as a result of going into early labor.
Interestingly, Eros mentions becoming a father during the divide (ep 224. He calls the child a "he" here, but mentions having a daughter later and only one kid is apparent at the epilogue, so I assume they're the same.)
For SOME reason, Psyche and Ero's kid is, I dunno, 3? 4? in the epilogue. She's definitely younger, even though she was born before Dionysus.
The finale reads that Hades conveniently got his hands on more ambrosia and resurrects Semele from the dead to reunite her and Dionysus. Even after recently making a huge deal about not being allowed to ressurect mortals (y'know, with Demophoons whole identity having to be changed).
Aaand Dionysus is not mentioned or seen again. Heck, he's not even present when Macaria is born at the very end.
It just really comes off as Hades and Persephone pushing Dionysus out of the family picture now that they know they can have their own bioloical kids, even going against the law(?) to ressurect his birth mother.
Clearly, Dionysus have been written older for this part just to seem more independent, right? So removing him from his family seems less brutal.
(And don't give me that "demigods age faster" shit because I clearly see you in the background there, TRIOPTOLEMUS, and you haven't aged A DAY.)

2024.05.19 12:29 narsfweasels A quick reminder about Being Jerks and how it's not OK, even against MTG.

Sorry excuse for a human pratfall, MTG, is back in the news again. Why? Not because she espouses Christian Family values, and cheated on her husband (more than once); Not because she lacks the ability to show basic decency and decorum (see multiple examples); N ot because sh cannot pronounce basic English words, despite being a representative elected to the legislative body in probably the second greatest country on Earth (GO SWEDEN!); Not because she harassed children saying that the mass shooting they endured was a lie...
... you get the picture.
No: This time, a certain Jasmine Crockett gave Ms Greene what can be best described as a taste-of-her-own-medicine-how-d'ya-like-them-apples.
Now, while we are all for Leopards (not literally) eating peoples' faces, we do draw the line 'round these parts at misogyny and misgendering. Specifically, making wisecracks about women looking masculine, and men looking feminine, yadda-yadda-yadda.

So, a reminder: Rule 7 remains in effect and this B6-crap is stopping. Removals and bans.

What crankset and components for BB30?
I purchased a cheap CAADX frame, so I can build it from scratch reusing components I have at home while learning how a bike works.
It comes out that the bike has the BB30, and I am unsure what I actually need. I understand I need a compatible crankset but… a part of that, what do I need between the bearings (see picture) and the crankset? I have checked online and I am still a bit clueless.

——————————
Flash flooding in northern Afghanistan killed 300+ people and destroyed 1,000+ homes. Hundreds of thousands of others have been affected. Last month, similar floods in the region killed 70+. Four died in Texas storms last week as well.
Venezuela is suffering from record wildfires, which so far this year have burned about 5M acres—almost the size of Sardinia. Some experts think indigenous people started the blaze as an attempt at forest clearance, which quickly got out of hand. “Institutional failures” compounded the disaster when the ailing government responded with an inadequate number of poorly equipped firefighters. Another study from last week examined the impact of wildfires on soil health.
Flooding and “cold lava” killed 50+ in Indonesia, injuring dozens and displacing several thousand. Cold lava is a mixture of water and rocks tumbling down the side of a volcano. Meanwhile, an actual volcano erupted in Indonesia, sending smoke & ash 5000m high; further eruptions are possible soon.
The Swiss Re Institute published a 37-page report last week about natural disasters in 2023—and how much damage, in USD, they caused. The largest catastrophe was the February 7.8 earthquake in Türkiye & Syria, which killed 59,000+ people and caused $163B+ in damage. The report is full of interesting graphics & data about natural disasters.
“Last year, economic losses from natural catastrophes reached USD 280 billion, meaning that 62% of the global losses were uninsured….the insured losses surpassed USD 100 billion for the fourth consecutive year….annual insured losses will grow by 5–7% over the long term…today’s insured losses could double in 10 years….There were 142 insured-loss inducing catastrophes in 2023, a new record. Most were of medium severity, which we define as events resulting in losses of USD 1–5 billion….Over the last 30 years, we estimate that natural catastrophe insured losses have grown by 3 percentage points more annually than the global economy (in inflation adjusted terms)...”
Flooding and heat waves are impacting Brazil’s oranges, responsible for about 70% of the world’s supply. One food analysts declared that the “era of cheap food is over”—in the UK, at least. That may be one reason why UK residents took record food bank packages last year. Madagascar is struggling to adapt to a future with far less rainfall.
France is growing more concerned about a dam on Lake Geneva, controlled exclusively by Switzerland. The Rhône River, which begins in Switzerland and flows south through France, is shrinking in summers as climate change melts Switzerland’s remaining glaciers.
The Tonlé San River has been dammed in Vietnam, lowering the level in Cambodia and sometimes drying the river downstream entirely. Meanwhile, China’s lychee harvest is getting blasted by rain, impacting the world’s largest source of lychee. And, once again, Saudi Arabia is suffering flooding in its inland regions. 7 dead in historic flooding in Iran.
The eminent climate scientist James Hansen posted that, since “human-made aerosols and their cooling effect are in decline,” the cooling effect of La Niña will be counterbalanced by these rising temperatures. He also identifies a “large anomaly of increased absorbed solar radiation at midlatitudes in the Northern Hemisphere” responsible for rising temperatures there. CO2 levels are rising faster today than they have at any point in the previous 50,000 years…and a study of millennia-old trees determined last summer was the hottest worldwide in 2,000+ years…
Record nighttime May temperatures were tied in the Philippines and Vietnam. A couple Indonesian cities broke records for May temperatures. And a number of southern African states saw more records drop. And Toronto saw a record tied for the number of days reaching 14 °C (57 °F). A heat wave has returned to Bangladesh. Flooding in Cali (pop: 2.9M), Colombia.
The University of Washington was ordered to stop a geoengineering project that scientists sere conducting from the deck of a decommissioned aircraft carrier. The experiment ejected aerosolized saltwater in an attempt to reflect solar radiation. A comparative study in Nature Communications of a number of carbon pricing found that, yes, carbon pricing does work to reduce the total CO2 emitted.
It’s that time of the year again. Wildfires in Canada grow, some of which are moving towards the tar sands—forcing thousands to evacuate. 39 of the total nation’s blazes are “out of control,” resulting in air quality alerts in the United States. Meanwhile, across the Caribbean, water shortages have become the new normal, and residents (and tourists) are finding their old consumption habits hard to change. St. Lucia has declared a water emergency. In Myanmar, water shortages worsen, particularly as related to the spiraling conflict.
At least ⅛ of Europeans live in a place at risk of extreme flooding—so says a 175-page report from the European Environment Agency posted on Wednesday. The number of people living in flood-risk coastal areas in the EU & UK is expected to jump 24% by 2050. The graphics-packed report also considers how flooding will impact healthcare facilities, mental health, wastewater treatment plants, the spread of disease, cyanobacteria, permafrost thaw, and much else.
“Europe has seen devastating floods following record rainfall, droughts of magnitudes not experienced in hundreds of years, continuing sea level rise, and increasing lake and sea temperatures….permanent water stress already affects 30% of people in southern Europe….since 2018, more than half of Europe has been impacted by extreme drought conditions….Climate change is expected to increase mercury bioaccumulation in the marine food chain due to rising ocean temperatures, ocean acidification and permafrost thawing….Depression, anxiety and PTSD may persist for years after a flooding event….Under the changing climate, northern Europe is becoming wetter in general, but drier in summer. Southern Europe is becoming drier, especially in winter. For central-eastern and western Europe, the trend is less clear…” -selections from the report
Milan suffered flooding last week, the worst May flooding in 170 years. Early spring in the UK has disrupted migratory bird species and their usual patterns.
A 74-page working paper which is not yet peer-reviewed claims that earlier estimates for how much GDP would be impacted by another 1 °C temperature rise is way less than it would be in actuality. The paper claims the real cost (in USD) is about 6x greater. They claim “global temperature has much more pronounced impacts on economic activity than local temperature” and that extreme weather is mostly behind the projected decline in productivity.

Epidemiologists are worried about how climate change in Africa may extend the life of disease-bearers like ticks and mosquitoes. Other epidemiologists are worried about how cattle may become a permanent reservoir for H5N1. Growing traced of bird flu have been found in wastewater testing in the U.S., but investigators think it may be runoff from infected dairy farms.
Obesity, high blood sugar, and high blood pressure rates today globally are 50% higher than in 2000—though researchers claim that air pollution still poses a larger threat. Of a study participants in Hawai’i, 75% had respiratory issues, probably from the Maui wildfires last year.
The 2024 World Migration Report is out, and its 384 pages are not as apocalyptic as one might think. However, internally displaced people are at their all-time highest. India, Mexico, Russia, China, and Syria lead the world in emigrants; another document contains the definitions for who exactly constitutes a migrant. Unfortunately much of the data relied upon ends in 2022. Data from this year, not included in the above report, indicates a 40% jump in traffic through the Darien Gap compared to the same time period in 2023.
“The last two years saw major migration and displacement events that have caused great hardship and trauma, as well as loss of life….There have also been large-scale displacements triggered by climate- and weather-related disasters in many parts of the world in 2022 and 2023, including in Pakistan, the Philippines, China, India, Bangladesh, Brazil and Colombia….disinformation tactics are increasingly being used by nefarious actors with negative impacts on public, political and social media discourse on migration….Forced displacement is the highest on record in the modern era…overconsumption and overproduction linked to unsustainable economic growth, resource depletion and biodiversity collapse, as well as ongoing climate change (including global heating) are continuing to grip the world….the risk of further conflict has not been higher in decades, as military spending reached a new record high of USD 2,240 billion in 2022…” -excerpts from the introduction
Another report, focusing on internal displacement, came out last week; its 69 pages show a cross-section of about 47M people displaced by natural disasters (56%) or armed conflict (44%). Most of the disasters were storms & flooding, and most of the conflicts were civil wars of some form. This report also provides detailed region-by-region analyses—with sub-Saharan Africa accounting for 46% of global IDPs.
“Conflict and violence triggered 13.5 million movements, the highest figure for the past 15 years….Disasters and conflict are presented as different triggers, but their impacts can overlap, often leading to repeated and/ or protracted displacement….Drought triggered 331,000 displacements in Somalia….Floods triggered 550,000 displacements in Ethiopia….Conflict and violence triggered 3.8 million displacements in DRC in 2023, a slight fall from the record four million in 2022, but still the second-highest figure globally after Sudan….nearly two-thirds of the internal displacements recorded in 2023 originated from Khartoum state. More than 39 per cent of the state's inhabitants were forced to flee, leaving entire neighbourhoods empty….Criminal and communal violence triggered nearly three-quarters of Nigeria's 291,000 conflict displacements….” -selections from the spotlight on sub-Saharan Africa
Experts are concerned about the mental health impacts that climate change has on our minds. Hotter temperatures reportedly increase depression & aggression. Wildfires and storms can cause PTSD. Workers feel stress and desperation as their usual industries are impacted. And air pollution influences ordinary brain processes in many ways.
Some analysts believe “Peak China” may be over, signaling a period of economic tapering-off, as well as a growing militancy. Increasing U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods are continuing to separate the two economies. The Netherlands finally formed a provisional government, though its proposed immigration & farming policies have set it at odds with the EU.
The Federal Reserve, the U.S. central bank, released a 46-page report on potential climate risks to the banking system’s resilience. As far as I understood, most of the risk lies in extreme weather events and the risk to insurance agencies.
Part of southeast England experienced an outbreak of Cryptosporidium, a diarrhea & vomiting illness, highly contagious, which can last weeks. At least 22 cases have been reported. Meanwhile, the CDC is issuing warnings about the more dangerous strain of monkeypox circulating in the DRC, although cases are currently limited to Africa.
North Carolina’s Senate voted to ban mask-wearing last week, under the reasoning that it would make police identification of protestors difficult. An fMRI study found lasting neurological changes in COVID survivors; they “had significantly higher cognitive complaints of mental fatigue and cognitive failure….even two years after recovering.” Experts say a summer rise in COVID cases is coming to the United States.
A study on The Canadian/American Great Lakes found that PFAS levels are increasing in the 3 largest lakes (Superior, Huron, and Michigan), while decreasing in the other two (Erie, Ontario). The study also found that precipitation is the primary means by which the Lakes are accumulating PFAS, since the chemicals are small & stable enough to move through the water cycle. Meanwhile, in England’s Lake District, a telecom failure resulted in raw sewage being pumped into England’s largest and most famous lake, Windermere, on-and-off for 10 hours; and a major British water CEO took a $4M USD pay package last year. And a look into the Chicago River’s health found that microplastics & trash are endangering health & biodiversity.

An assassination attempt by a lone wolf on Slovakia’s PM left him in critical condition, but likely to survive. 11 civilians were slain by cartel fighters in a few battles in Mexico. Violence continues to spiral out of control in Goma, DRC.
In Haiti, everything worsens indefinitely. Guns have reportedly entered from Florida, a phenomenon which officials call an “iron river.” Police have been put on the defensive against the growing might of the gang warlords.
A brawl broke out in Taiwan’s parliament. An Iranian plot was allegedly foiled to smuggle weapons into Jordan to destabilize the pro-U.S. regime.
Dozens more died in Sudan from escalating violence around Darfur. People are warning about “a disaster on top of a disaster” and the possibility of Sudan splitting apart. Others have called it “hell on earth” as 1,000+ refugees cross the Chad border every day. Disease and malnutrition are growing, while famine encroaches upon 9M helpless victims of the conflict—but the world’s attention is elsewhere.
The U.S. Army Engineers completed constructing the pier in Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. Some 600,000 Gazans have been displaced from Rafah already, and fighting has escalated against Hamas militants in northern Gaza.
Taliban forces skirmished with Pakistani soldiers for about 90 minutes last week. Taliban attacks in Pakistan, and counterattacks have resulted in a kind of ambient disruption for the rocky border zone.
Violent protests—and counteroperations—are continuing in New Caledonia (pop: 270,000), a Pacific island part of overseas France. The riots, which have killed 6 people so far, began after metropolitan France proposed a plan to expand voting rights beyond indigenous residents. A state of emergency has been declared amid worries about a spiral of violence taking hold.
As the Sahel dries out, experts are concerned about the links to rising terrorism in the region. The Sahel accounts for over 40% of global terrorism deaths—according to the analysts’ understanding of “terrorism.” Mali in particular has reportedly become home to 41 new, different non-state armed groups (NSAGs) since 2007. A contested election in Chad resulted in the consolidation of the interim leader’s power.
“If governments are continually unable to solve regional issues, the people will be at the whim of any terror group that has a basic organization. It serves these groups’ interests to promote insecurity where they can and create security where they want. A “hearts and minds” campaign in the Sahel could lead to long-term and locally supported insurgencies in a land that is currently rife with civil strife.” -from the article
Some wargamers concluded that a Trump victory in 2020 would spell the end of NATO, or at least the end of its utility. Vladimir Putin replaced his minister of defense with a top economic advisor, just before going to Beijing to reaffirm their friendship with “no limits.” Some say Putin is planning on a forever war. Some say NATO is gearing up for one, too.
Russia made several gains in the suburbs of Kharkiv, seizing several settlements which some analysts doubt they will hold. Putin claims they aren’t really trying to take Kharkiv anyway… Russia also made small progress in the Donbas—although they suffered their largest one-day casualties since the start of the war. The U.S. allocated another $2B to hasten the delivery of weapons to the front lines. The next weeks will be crucial on the front. Switzerland has invited 160+ nations to send delegates to a peace summit intended to design a path to making peace in this War.

Select comments/threads from the subreddit last week suggest:
-Brazil’s flooding was really, really bad, judging from this post and its accompanying images. Across just one of Brazil’s 26 states, 600,000+ people have been made homeless, 100+ have died, and the storm season isn’t over yet. Some of the flooding isn’t expected to subside for another month.
-How specifically might climate change make humanity extinct? This thread crowdsources a number of plausible ways, from ordinary famines to nuclear war and even a massive deoxygenation process. I tend to think it will be a consequence of an eventual nuclear exchange, followed by extended famine and disease.

First OSL: need feedback. Did I over did it?
dear minipainting members,
I did my first night OSL ever and would love some feedback. I felt I over did it, as it don't look so good on the board game and most of the mini details are lost.
Also, the light seem too orange without gradient. And the dark side completely cover the basr coat in most places.
I have 16 of these little guy, they are part of a board game which is setup in a city by night. I have the base coat and the face done as per the picture for the next 15 one.
What do you think about having some with different light effect?

2024.05.19 12:11 ORGCHKSAND I feel like I'm kind of healing finally

I have talked about dealing and coping with infidelity in my personal life multiple times, but there has been a new development.
I found an old micro sd card of mine. Last used early February 2022. It had some of my music but it also had a TON of old ex gf pics and messages, screen shots and recordings...a lot of homemade porn. I of course looked at them. Still think she's beautiful, but I felt nothing for the pictures... She's just some girl to me now.
Apparently, It was part of a failed Samsung switch thing that I tried to do back in the beginning of '22. Completely forgot I moved that file to the SD card. Had a bunch of old voice notes she had sent to me back in like 2021-22... I just listen and laugh to myself. Like I really went from being your best friend, being your lover, the person you wanted by your side...to a damn stranger. I listened and I just feel like it's all bullshit. How could you profess your love to somebody repeatedly for years and turn around and at least emotionally cheat eith a coworker??? Just makes 0 goddamn sense.
I said all that to say, Almost four months out, I think I'm finally moving on. For real this time. I know In the past had I found all of that, I would've either A. broke down crying or B. tried to get in contact with her again... No dice this time.

2024.05.19 12:01 Efficient-Hippo5032 I think my mum comes to my flat when i'm at work

For a few weeks I had the feeling that my apartment door was double locked when I came home from work, although I never actually do that. But I've had a lot on my plate in the last few weeks, so I didn't think much about it. A few days ago I was at my mother's. We share a common hobby for which I recently bought new accessories that she didn't know about. The part was a bit more special and you had to do some research for it. When I was in her apartment, she asked me to help her set up a new device and what do I see? Exactly the same model as I have. She also mentioned that she didn't look closely at the order and therefore needs help now. But that can't happen with this model, because I only found it in a single small shop and she didn't have the patience and calm in such things to do more research so it's not possible that she found it by chance. She has a key to my apartment because she takes care of my plants during vacation. I trust her to do that in principle, which is why I can't put aside this thought, of course. I've had a nightmare several times where I'm lying on the sofa and I constantly hear the sound when someone unlocks the door, but I can't move and go to the door. I couldn't talk to her about it yet, because I have to sort it out for myself first and she's still on vacation

The level exchange is an opportunity for users to share and play each others levels. If you want other people to play your levels and take an interest in what you are doing, the best thing to do is show an interest in other peoples creations and play their levels as part of an exchange.
What is proposed is that you take this post and sort it by "new" and try to play and leave comments on reddit for 2-4 levels that other people have posted. You don't have to star it if you don't want to, but there really is no reason to be stingy if you like the level. Once you've done that, post your own level and a brief description of it. Preferably include what the theme of the level is, what style of Mario game you used, and about how difficult you think it is!
A new exchange thread is created every few days
Use the exchange as an opportunity to get to know other makers and have fun.
Automoderator is watching this thread and will remove excesssive numbers of level codes, excessive level posting without offering feedback on reddit and it will be also stopping attention grabbing gimmicks like title formatting text.
Please note that due to a limitation of automoderator, posting levels on this thread will remove your picture flair that is visible on old.reddit.com. This does not affect the flair text. You can add it back from the sidebar . This should not affect award flairs like LOTW
NB: The original wii u Super mario maker has a separate level exchange thread found here

đź”—Camo Insulated Rugged Flex Men's Jacket: Comfort, Durability & Mossy Oak Pattern

https://preview.redd.it/lqwwde0gvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bf382b76ec9dd3560e9e10a00dcf6289ff1a360
My Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Duck Camo Active Jacket has been a game-changer in my hunting adventures. I've been using it for the past three hunting seasons, and it's been nothing short of amazing. The first thing that caught my attention was its durability; it's held up against some harsh weather conditions. The Rugged Flex stretch technology and elbow pleats allow for easy movement, which is crucial when I'm tracking down my prey.
One of the most impressive features is the DWR finish that provides excellent water resistance. It's kept me dry even during unexpected downpours. The Mossy Oak Bottomland camo pattern truly helps me blend in with my surroundings, making it easier to stay hidden from my quarry.
However, there are few things that could use some improvement. The loose fit means I sometimes experience a bit of wind coming up, but it's not too much of an issue. Additionally, while the zipper quality is solid, it could be slightly longer, as suggested by other reviewers.
Overall, the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Duck Camo Active Jacket has been a reliable companion on my hunts, protecting me from the elements and enabling me to focus on the task at hand. If you're in the market for a well-constructed and comfortable hunting jacket, this one should definitely be on your radar.

A couple of years ago, I purchased the Carhartt Men's Firm Duck Chore Coat for myself when I was gearing up for a cold and windy construction project. The first thing that stood out to me about this coat was its heritage-inspired design, reminiscent of the pocket watch era. As time went on, I had the opportunity to test its claims of being water-repellent and wind-resistant, and I can confirm that it lived up to my expectations, even in harsh conditions.
One significant highlight of the Carhartt Chore Coat is its corduroy collar, which has been in use since the late 1930s and has that classic, timeless look. Additionally, the rugged firm-hand duck fabric not only gives it a sturdy feel but also becomes more comfortable with time, making it a reliable piece of outerwear.
As much as I love this coat, it does have a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, the length of the sleeves can be a bit too long for some users, with some having to size down to ensure a comfortable fit. Secondly, the coat's collar could be slightly wider to provide better protection against the wind.
In conclusion, the Carhartt Firm Duck Chore Coat is the perfect choice for those who prioritize comfort, warmth, and durability in their outerwear. Its timeless design and high-quality materials make it a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for a reliable coat that will stand the test of time.

I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Rain Defender Relaxed Fit Hooded Shirt Jacket in Black Heather and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer in my daily life. As an avid outdoorsman, I appreciate the flexibility of this jacket - it's suitable for various weather conditions.
One thing that really stood out for me was the adjustable hood, which ensures good visibility even during a downpour. The high collar also provides additional protection against the elements.
Another highlight is its durability. The Windfighter fleece, combined with the Rain Defender finish, makes it wind and water-resistant, while its triple-stitched main seams add extra strength. Notably, there are ample pockets for all my essentials.
However, there's one issue I encountered with the hood design. It can feel awkward if worn with a cap, though a beanie or hard hat doesn't pose the same problem.
In terms of sizing, I found that the medium size fits perfectly, providing enough room for layering without compromising on comfort. The length of this jacket is another praiseworthy feature - it's just right, even without the 'tall' version.
Lastly, while it's not technically a winter jacket, I believe that with some insulation, it could be the perfect companion in winter. Overall, the Carhartt Rain Defender is a reliable go-to for various weather conditions, offering comfort, durability, and functionality.

I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Super Dux Relaxed Fit Lightweight Mock-Neck Jacket and I must say, I'm quite impressed. The jacket provides excellent protection against wind and light rain, making it perfect for those chilly days when you're outdoors. It's a great piece to layer up with during mild winters.
One of the standout features of this jacket is its flexibility. Thanks to the Rugged Flex stretch technology, I can move freely without any hindrance - whether I'm running errands or engaging in some physical activity. The wind-resistant fabric ensures that my body stays warm even when there's a chill in the air.
However, there's one drawback that I've noticed - the collar. It feels a bit too large and tends to get in the way while turning my head. It would be great if Carhartt could address this issue in future models.
In terms of pocket storage, this jacket delivers as well. There are several secure zipper pockets both inside and outside, allowing me to safely stow away my essentials like tools or supplies.
Overall, the Carhartt Super Dux Relaxed Fit Lightweight Mock-Neck Jacket has become a staple in my daily outdoor wear. Its lightweight design, coupled with its wind and water resistance, make it a practical choice for anyone who spends time outdoors. Despite the minor issue with the collar, I'm highly satisfied with this jacket.

đź”—Carhartt Realtreed Xtra Camo Sherpa Lined Active Jacket

https://preview.redd.it/qo0me0ohvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=119c6715543338880779bc3fcf9bb6e35bebc6c9
Carhartt's Men's Super Dux Relaxed Fit Sherpa-Lined Camo Active Jacket is a warm and durable piece of outerwear that's perfect for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts alike. I recently purchased one in Mossy Oak Bottomland Camo, and I must say, it has quickly become my go-to jacket for all my outdoor adventures.
The first thing that struck me was the quality of this jacket. The 18.1-ounce, 97% nylon/3% elastane fabric feels sturdy and well-made, offering excellent wind resistance and a sprinkle of light rain protection. The Sherpa lining inside is incredibly soft and cozy, keeping me warm even on the chilliest days.
One aspect I particularly love about this jacket is its spacious interior pocket. It comfortably holds my essentials without weighing me down or restricting my movement. The secure zipper left chest pocket is another useful feature, providing an easy-to-access spot for my phone and keys while I'm out and about.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks to the Carhartt Men's Super Dux Jacket that I think are worth mentioning. Firstly, the adjustable hood with a hidden drawcord and cord lock is a nice touch for safety, but I've found that it can be a bit difficult to adjust while wearing gloves. Secondly, the lack of elbow or armpit gussets means that the jacket doesn't always move with me as smoothly as I'd like, especially when reaching or lifting objects.
Despite these small issues, I'm overall very satisfied with my Carhartt Men's Super Dux Relaxed Fit Sherpa-Lined Camo Active Jacket. Its comfort, durability, and practical features make it a standout choice for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors.

đź”—Carhartt Washed Duck Insulated Active Jacket

https://preview.redd.it/4bdckzxhvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36a6bbe7e0c8d9b493a04c4249b5b155cca4c5fb
As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, I have to say that the Carhartt Men's Washed Duck Insulated Active Jacket has been a game-changer for me. I've had this jacket for several months now and it has held up incredibly well.
What stands out the most to me about this jacket is the heavyweight cotton duck fabric. It's not only warm and durable, but it also has a nice, broken-in feel to it that makes it super comfortable to wear. The 3M Thinsulate insulation adds an extra layer of warmth without making the jacket too bulky or heavy.
One feature I really appreciate is the attached hood with low profile adjustment. On windy days, this hood helps keep me protected and warm. Plus, the cord locks make it easy to adjust the fit without having to deal with annoying drawstrings.
Another positive aspect of this jacket is the updated lower front pockets. They're now lined with brushed tricot, which makes them feel much softer and more comfortable against my skin. And when I'm out working in the cold, I love how the pen stall in the right, lower front pocket lets me keep all my essentials close at hand.
However, there is one aspect of this jacket that could use some improvement - the side pockets. They could definitely be deeper, as they don't provide enough room for storing larger items like smartphones or wallets when you're on the move.
Overall, the Carhartt Men's Washed Duck Insulated Active Jacket is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and stylish cold weather jacket. The durability and thoughtful design features make it well worth the investment, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

đź”—Carhartt Super Dux Insulated Jacket for Men

https://preview.redd.it/a8870zgivc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e730e82932cb7e639a5ab1bf179935b5175c57ce
The Carhartt Men's Super Dux Relaxed Fit Insulated Jacket was my go-to for those chilly days. On my latest project in the backyard, the wind was relentless and the rain was coming down hard, but this jacket held its own. The 100-gram Thinsulate insulation kept me toasty and the Rain Defender technology ensured I stayed dry.
One of my favorite features was the Rugged Flex technology that allowed for unrestricted movement. The bi-swing shoulders and flexible elbows made reaching up high or bending over a much easier task. I never felt trapped in the jacket, even when I was getting really active. The hood was also a game-changer, able to protect my head not only from the rain but also from the wind. Plus, the detachable feature was super convenient - I could remove it on warmer days or when I needed to interact with someone face-to-face.
However, I noticed that the interior storm cuffs were loose and didn't keep out the draft as well as I'd like. And while the length was perfect for my needs, it might not suit everyone. Despite these issues, the jacket's high-quality construction, impressive warmth, and rugged design made it a reliable addition to my wardrobe for those harsh conditions.

đź”—Carhartt Men's Yukon Extremes Insulated Active Jacket - Black

https://preview.redd.it/dgjxdyqivc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38aea4fb9e9855187f660b64af25d37d392586f3
Recently, I purchased the Carhartt Men's Yukon Extremes Insulated Active Jacket, and I'm quite satisfied with its performance. As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, it's important for me to have a jacket that's not only durable but also well-insulated and wind-resistant. This active jacket did not disappoint.
The first thing that caught my attention when I received the jacket was the 3M Thinsulate insulation, which provides excellent warmth without feeling too bulky. I'm particularly fond of the hood design, featuring a drawcord and reflective Carhartt patch. The hood not only keeps me protected from rain and snow but also ensures visibility during nighttime activities.
However, one area where the jacket could be improved is its zipper quality. While the plastic zipper works fine, I'm more accustomed to metal zippers, which are generally more reliable and durable. In addition, the jacket can be somewhat noisy when walking due to the swishy fabric sound - not ideal for hunting purposes.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I believe the Carhartt Men's Yukon Extremes Insulated Active Jacket is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a reliable and well-insulated winter coat. Its attractive design, variety of pockets, and comfortable fit make it a versatile option for both recreational activities and daily life. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and believe many others will be too.

đź”—Carhartt Youth Canvas Insulated Hooded Jacket - Mossy Oak Country DNA

https://preview.redd.it/h1pq5j6jvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a97cea9c48e41af642305cb09c6436c6033c7afd
I don't know about you, but I'm a big fan of Carhartt - especially their Camo line. That's why I decided to get this Canvas Insulated Hooded Jacket for my son. Let me tell you, it has been a game changer this hunting season!
First off, the quality is top-notch. This jacket is made with heavy-duty canvas and features triple-stitched seams. Even after several washes, it still looks brand new. The quilted flannel lining on the inside also ensures that my boy stays warm and comfortable no matter how cold it is outside.
One of my favorite features of this jacket is the hidden rib-knit cuffs. They keep his wrists toasty and make sure no wind or sleet sneaks in. Plus, the insulated front pockets are perfect for storing his hands or keeping small gear close at hand while he's out in the field.
Now, let's talk about the hood. It's full zip, so it provides ample protection against rain, snow, or even those pesky mosquitoes during summer months. And speaking of zipping, the main zipper is high quality and doesn't get stuck or catch on the fabric.
While the jacket isn't water-resistant, it does dry relatively quickly when hung up, making it easy to clean and maintain. The only downside I've noticed is that the sleeve length could be a bit longer, especially if your child is taller than average.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this Camo Canvas Insulated Hooded Jacket from Carhartt. It has everything a young hunter could want - durability, comfort, and style. If you're looking for a reliable and well-made jacket for your little outdoorsman (or outdoorswoman), look no further than this one.

đź”—Carhartt Gilliam Insulated Jacket

https://preview.redd.it/nkwzggnjvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ac560b72162b731e103f7cc19c56e940946dfda
I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Men's Black Gilliam Jacket and oh boy, it's been a game-changer for my daily life! This insulated jacket is not just about keeping you warm during winter, but also about providing you with some real protection from unwanted dampness. The DWR finish ensures that you stay dry and comfortable even when the weather takes a turn.
One thing I truly appreciate is the zipper closure feature. It's a small detail, yet it does an excellent job of keeping out the cold winds. Speaking of features, it comes with heaps of pockets - some even have protective closures. This means you can carry all your small work essentials without worrying about losing them.
Now, let's talk about the cons. Though I'm not usually bothered by minor issues, I must say the length of the sleeves could be a bit longer. It may not be a problem for everyone, but it did catch my eye.
All in all, the Gilliam Jacket has definitely earned a place in my wardrobe. Its water-repellent capabilities, the myriad of pockets, and the overall comfort it provides make it the perfect companion for these colder days. So if you're looking for a reliable work jacket that doesn't compromise on style or functionality, this one's a solid choice!

đź”—Carhartt Men's Full Swing Steel Jacket in Black

https://preview.redd.it/ed4oog2kvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c64e5eca091121737bcf3d52378aee0819058f35
I've been using this Carhartt Men's Full Swing Steel Jacket for a while now, and I must say, it's been a reliable companion through the colder months. Its 3M Thinsulate insulation keeps me warm and cozy even during the harshest winters, and the DWR finish makes sure I stay dry even when caught in a rainstorm.
One of my favorite features is the detachable hood. It gives me personalized styling options depending on my mood or weather conditions. The jacket's rugged construction is also worth highlighting, as it's made of stretch ripstop for extra flexibility and freedom of movement.
However, I've experienced some issues with the zipper quality. It can sometimes get stuck or hang at every little wrinkle, which can be quite frustrating. Another minor issue is the sizing, as the jacket tends to run on the smaller side, but that's easily fixed by choosing a size larger than usual.
All in all, I'm quite satisfied with the Carhartt Men's Full Swing Steel Jacket. Its combination of style, comfort, and functionality makes it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a versatile and reliable winter jacket.

đź”—Carhartt Men's Super Dux Traditional Insulated Coat (Black) - Relaxed Fit, Machine Wash

https://preview.redd.it/or65m7dkvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=223f52063a4f689bc57b66eea80b81090db51c79
I recently purchased the Carhartt Super Dux Relaxed Fit Insulated Traditional Coat to stay warm during those chilly winter days. The coat's 7.75-ounce nylon fabric is treated with Rain Defender durable water-repellent finish, ensuring that I stay dry even in heavy rain. Additionally, the Wind Fighter technology effectively blocks the wind, keeping me cozy and comfortable.
One of my favorite features of this coat is the quilt-lined insulation with 100g of 3M Thinsulate, providing excellent warmth. The secure hook-and-loop right chest pocket and zipper left chest pocket are perfect for storing my essentials, while the two snap front lower pockets with side entry hand warmers keep my hands toasty. The interior hook-and-look pocket on the wearer's left side offers additional storage space.
I also appreciate the drop-tail hem, which provides extra coverage, and the adjustable hood with chin guard and hidden drawstrings, which protect me from harsh weather conditions. The rib-knit storm cuffs effectively seal out the cold, and the center-front zipper with kissing welt makes it easy for me to put on and take off the coat.
However, there are a few downsides to this coat. The side seam zippers, while providing added movement, can be a bit challenging to use at times. Additionally, the double-stitched main seam, although durable, can feel a bit stiff and may require some breaking in.
In conclusion, the Carhartt Super Dux Relaxed Fit Insulated Traditional Coat is an excellent choice for those looking for a reliable and warm coat for winter. Its unique combination of features, such as the 7.75-ounce nylon fabric with Rain Defender technology, Wind Fighter technology, and 100g of 3M Thinsulate insulation, ensures that you stay dry and warm in even the harshest weather conditions.
Although there are a few minor drawbacks, such as the stiffness of the double-stitched main seam and the occasional difficulty in using the side seam zippers, these issues do not significantly detract from the overall quality and performance of the coat. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this coat to anyone looking for a high-quality winter garment.

đź”—Black Men's Rough Cut Jacket by Carhartt

https://preview.redd.it/czaf3k2lvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcc3b43f556beb9649b5c230cd8000bbf290a97c
Carhartt's men's Rough Cut Jacket, in black, is perfect for those chilly autumn days. This heavyweight flannel piece, with a sherpa fleece lining in its body and a quilted lining on the sleeves, offers both warmth and style. The original-fit shirt-jac features handwarmer pockets and zippered ones ideal for storing your wallet or keys. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, this jacket can withstand the elements, and after years of use, you'd be hard pressed to find any significant wear and tear on it. Although it's designed primarily for breathability and not as a standalone layer for keeping warm, it pairs beautifully with fleece or down mid-layers.
However, despite its high rating, the jacket does have a few minor drawbacks. The first is that the zipper tends to get stuck, particularly near the neck area, often requiring fiddling for a few minutes. Some users also mentioned they found the arms to be slightly short, as well as the jacket being slightly stiff when new. But these issues seem to be more common with the first batch, with newer models appearing to have resolved these concerns.
In conclusion, the Carhartt men's Rough Cut Jacket is a high-quality, stylish option that provides warmth and comfort while maintaining a sleek appearance. Its wind resistance and pairing ability with other layers make it an ideal choice for fall and winter outings. And although the stiffness and the issue with the zipper might be present initially, they seem to resolve with time and use. Therefore, I would recommend this jacket to anyone seeking a reliable, durable option for their outdoor activities.

  1. Durable Materials: Look for jackets made with heavy-duty materials such as cotton duck or polyester, ensuring they can withstand harsh hunting environments and regular wear.
  2. Insulation: Insulation is crucial for maintaining warmth and comfort in cold weather. Consider water-repellent insulation like Thinsulate™ or Quick Dry technology, which dries faster than traditional materials.
  3. Pockets and Storage: Pockets are essential for storing gear and easy access during hunts. Choose a jacket with multiple pockets (including interior and exterior), preferably with zippers or toggle closures to secure items.
  4. Ventilation: Proper ventilation helps regulate body temperature and prevent overheating. Look for jackets with vents, mesh panels, or breathable materials that allow airflow.

Considerations

  1. Weather Conditions: Consider the typical weather conditions of your hunting location. If it's usually cold and wet, opt for a waterproof and insulated jacket. For milder conditions, a lightweight jacket with good ventilation might be sufficient.
  2. Camouflage Patterns: Choose a camo pattern that blends well with the environment where you'll be hunting. Some popular options include RealTree AP, Mossy Oak, and Carhartt's proprietary camo designs.
  3. Fit and Comfort: Ensure the jacket fits well without restricting movement. Consider adjustable features such as cuffs, waistbands, and collar for added comfort and customizability.
  4. Safety Features: High visibility elements like reflective trims and bright colors can enhance your visibility and safety in low light conditions or near roads and highways.

General Advice

  1. Read Customer Reviews: Read reviews from other hunters to get valuable insights about the performance and reliability of specific Carhartt Hunting Jacket models.
  2. Invest in Quality: Although high-quality Carhartt Hunting Jackets may have a higher price tag, their durability and performance make them a worthwhile investment for serious hunters.
  3. Regular Maintenance: Clean and dry your jacket according to the manufacturer's instructions to maintain its water-repellent properties and extend its lifespan.
By considering important features, weighing relevant considerations, and following general advice, you can make an informed decision when choosing the perfect Carhartt Hunting Jacket for your unique needs and preferences.

2024.05.19 11:52 Academic-Painter1999 How I'm beating Colosseum without a single A+ or above character: A very long and comprehensive guide

Hey everyone! I've been seeing a few posts here and there about Colosseum and just an overall interest in S/S+ characters. I myself am among the unlucky few who has not yet pulled a single S character, but I've managed to 3-star every stage in the first story mode as well as complete every single mode aside from the Superstar Challenge and the Beach one (I'm putting these off until I get an S Wing Spiker since Superstar seems impossible to 3-star without a Spiker that can more frequently boom/no-touch ace, and Beach is just boring to me imo).
In addition, I've been able to beat Colosseum with only a team consisting of an A-rank WS, B+ MB, and B+ Setter. Of course, this took me a few tries but the main thing that I've learned is that the final boss is much easier to get through than the boss stages. I'm playing with Beginner and Auto mode turned off, while Run-Up is turned ON. I'm not sure if different settings will help.
I'll expand on this now and give more detail, but I'd just like to say first that this is NOT a guide for a guaranteed win. Some RNG will still matter and therefore you may not be able to win the Colosseum run on your first try. This will be a VERY long guide, but I'll try my best to give a summary at the end for those who don't have the patience or want an easy flowchart to look at while playing.
So let's start off with your roster and playing style.
Stats of your team:
Firstly, you definitely want every member to be at least B+ so you can possibly max out 2 stats and get some additional points in to others. Do NOT attempt Colosseum if you can't max out your players' stats; you'd just be frustrating youself.
For the Setter, I maxed out Jump and Defense and spent the extra points on Speed. My Setter came with 85 Attack so I simply didn't bother increasing it since it's costly and she seems to be able to get serve aces anyway even with a low attack stat.
For my MB, I maxed out Defense and Speed while spending the rest of the points on Attack. IMO you can probably tweak with this as you like, the MB really isn't that important anyway.
My reasoning for this is that you'll be doing pretty much all of the work on getting points anyway, so might as well increase your teammates' chances of blocking out spikes or receiving without getting their defenses broken through if you make mistakes.
Stats of your WS and how your playing style will vary:
As for the stats, obviously you want a maxed out Attack and Jump, while I keep Speed at least at 100 and spend the rest of my points in Defense. The low Speed is due to the fact that you'll be spending pretty much all your time in your team's zone anyway, and having a high speed MB can make up for any threats of a Touch Out.
Your playing style will be one of two things which are purely dependent on your Wing Spiker's height. Note that these playstyles only really matter with the non-boss teams and are all about defense. We'll be employing team-specific strategies when it comes to attack/defense against bosses and attacks against the non-bosses.
Currently my two best WSs are 179cm (A-rank) and 212cm (A-minus rank). The 179cm WS is my main WS that I use right now purely because of additional stats, and he's the shortest player on my team.
The tall playstyle (probably good for at least 190cm WS) will involve blocking a lot because some of the players on the regular teams generally have weak attacks but can spike higher than shorter characters, so having a tall WS with good defense stats is often enough to block out the strongest spikes from these teams. This also matters more at the start because most of the ability cards at the first round will decrease your jump points, so if your player's tall enough to still be able to block shots from the enemy team with decreased jump, then you can definitely go with this style.
The short playstyle (good for below 190cm) involves going for dives on every shot that the enemy takes. It conserves team stamina and gives you more chances to get attacks in and whittle the enemy's defenses down.
Obviously, if you've been playing for a while, you already know the advantages of blocking and diving. But, the key difference between the two when it comes to Colosseum is that the tall playstyle is generally easier and more aggressive and can let you win games faster through good blocks, but is more prone to RNG with your block sometimes leading to an unsalvageable touch out and therefore making you lose points.
Meanwhile, the short playstyle is harder but a safer style. It's harder because you need to be good at reacting to quicks and positioning yourself in general. But if you can consistently dive enemy spikes, then you'll never get a touch out and you save your team stamina for the few times that you make a mistake and your team has to cover, which they'll often do by simple receives and not dives.
Once you've determined your playstyle, let's take a look at your general tournament strategy and then your attack strategy for each opponent.
General Strategy:
When starting a run, the rule of thumb is to take a look at the path and see which one you can take with at least ONE rest while having the least amount of boss fights. If you get lucky, you can have a path with 1-2 rests without a single boss fight to take. If you're low on health/score (3 or below), I suggest avoiding boss fights completely even if taking the boss fight can lead you to a rest. Ideally you'll have at least 7-8 score/health remaining by the time you reach the final boss.
When it comes to resting, I haven't tried the full heal yet since I don't really need the full 10 HP to win. I only take the 5 HP restoration if I'm below 6 HP and take the -5 Attack -2 Jump debuffs which won't really have noticeable effects unless you weren't able to balance out your buffs and debuffs.
As for ability cards, I suggest choosing the -10%/20% jump reductions at the start if you can find them. You can choose to reroll if you really want to/can afford it, but in any case, the guideline for stats ability cards is this:
  1. Avoid going below 150 for Attack; preferably you keep it at least at the max 155. This means that the more attack buffs you get from some ability cards, the more you can afford having it reduced by others.
  2. Avoid reducing your speed (assuming your WS is like mine with only 100 Speed). Since you're the one mainly going for dives/blocks, you want to be able to move around at normal speed and most of the cards that increase speed aren't really worth it.
  3. Unless you've been able to mitigate the initial 10/20% reduction, do NOT take any cards that reduce jump. Obviously since you're already taking huge hits to your jump stat, reducing it further without mitigating thru buffs will make it so much harder to spike/block.
  4. Let your Defense stats take the most hits; if your defense goes low enough (around 120 and below), switch to diving style if you're not using it already.
For special ability cards, most of them are good but what you choose will depend on your playstyle. My favorite is Topspin Feint and Overpower. I would avoid Leap of Faith, Anchorage, and pretty much all of Oasis's cards EXCEPT Sunrise if you can get it early (no real point taking Sunrise if you're 1-2 matches away from the Final Boss)
Non-boss team strategies:
Let's start with Blue Lancia, which imo is the most predictable non-boss team in the mode (I've gotten multipel 12-0s against them). Their blocking is somehow near-perfect yet their receives are ass. So, to keep this short, the flowchart is just around 2 conditions, based on the enemy blocker:
  1. Whoever's blocking you at the net jumps at the same time as you do - Just feint. Even at max attack, my WS rarely ever gets through the blocker and causes me to lose points when spiking, so just feint over him, and if you do it for long enough, Blue Lancia's receiving is so bad that their receive will break even from just a simple feint.
  2. They don't jump at the same time - Spike. The max attack stats will break stamina faster. You'll rarely win points from spiking because even when their defenses are broken, they can keep the ball in the air when receiving spikes but can't when it's a feint So ultimately you'll still be going back to condition #1 to actually win the point.
With Red Scudo, you can pretty much win by doing the usual strategy of spiking well. They're generally weak on both attack/defense so no real special strategy there. It's pretty easy to win through serve aces if you can consistently hit the top of the net or land the ball on the edge of their side. Blocking's also pretty easy against them if your defense isn't too low.
For Yellow Spear, most of the strategy involves around defense. They're the only non-boss team that likes doing quicks/surprise attacks from what I observed, and their attacks CAN get through high defense at times. For attacking against them, you can play normally but you might want to go for feints if their tall blocker jumps (I forgot his name) since he can sometimes block you out, but not as much as Blue Lancia.
Boss teams:
There are certain teams that you want to avoid completely. Although you can try your luck with some of them if you think you're skilled enough to do so. I suggest avoiding boss fights completely if you're only on 3 health or lower unless you're willing to use the quitting/retry cheese strat.
My ranking of the boss teams from easiest to hardest to beat is as follows (note once again that this is from the perspective of playing with NO S characters, I'm sure that this will be completely different for those with S characters especially a WS):
  1. ZeroN - Strong stats and fast spikes by Youngsub which can make it tough to dive, but once you're on the attack, there's nothing special you need to really do to get points.
  2. Art High - Mid stats and extremely annoying to play against because of how consistently they can receive, but their attack's pretty predictable and even consistently blockable except if it's Sanghyeon spiking. You only really need to look out for Sanghyeon and that's about it.
  3. SolaOasis's team (forgot the full name) - Very difficult to beat, I suggest avoiding them. Surprisingly, AI Oasis isn't all that hard to play against, but the real challenge when it comes to this team is their serves. Both Oasis and ESPECIALLY Lisia have difficult serves. Lisia's underhand seems to always target you, though, so as long as you get the timing right, it's possible to receive it with a dive. But I suggest eating the serve with a normal receive if you can't get the timing or if you're confident that your defense/stamina can handle it.
  4. Valentia Spikes - Just avoid them. The Nishikawa in the Colosseum mode is the one that does the delayed spike the most which your team can't really defend against. Other Nishikawa spikes are blockable and actually quite predictable based on his positioning, but the delayed spike and his serves will eat up your points. I think with enough practice and the right ability cards, you can definitely learn to beat this team but it doesn't really seem worth it without an S-rank WS.
Final Boss Teams:
Another disclaimer coming here... I haven't fought Robert's team yet at the time of this writing so I can't really give my insights on how to beat them. But considering how surprisingly forgiving BYE (NN's team) and BELL (Isabel's team) are, I doubt that Robert would be any different.
I find BELL to be the easiest team to play against. You can play pretty much normally since they don't have strong blocks and receives, while defending would just be doing the usual dive strat which I've already mentioned is the safest.
BYE is harder but only in a general sense. I don't find NN's set to be that much of a threat (tbh it makes their attack much easier to time), and Jaehyun's spike is consistently blockable although not worth testing the RNG for possible Touch Outs if your score is low already.
Summary:
Take jump debuffs (I almost never take the Easy ability cards since I want to greed for Blue Flames) at the start and just slide/dive or block against weak attack teams. I recommend diving for pretty much every team and don't bother blocking if you wanna conserve health as much as possible, but this can make your runs longer.
Play normally against Red Scudo. Play more defensively against Yellow Spear. Feint as much as possible against Blue Lancia and only spike when the enemy blocker doesn't jump with you.
Go for boss fights if you have enough health and they aren't Valentia/Solar. Make sure to get a good ability card such as Nishikawa's Topspin Feint, Overpower or Heesung's Absolute Block (if you can mitigate your original jump debuffs) if you can afford rerolling for them; otherwise just take whatever good ability card you can get and prioritize Attack/the stats most affected by previous debuffs.
I highly suggest avoiding Valentia Spike and Solar unless you're determined to figuring them out. IMO it's a waste of time to attempt them without an S-rank but of course, it's your choice.
Against BYE, keep an eye out for NN's set and change your receive timing when he's setting. That's the only difficult part.
Against BELL, just receive well and be persistent with your spikes. By the time that you've reached them, you'd ideally have a high enough attack stat that you can easily break through their defenses.

And that's pretty much it! I'll update this post or just post a comment about Robert once I've played against his team. Apologies for the length of this post, but hopefully this helps some of you :)

What I didn’t know before was my mother side descends from the Mende people and also have a nice amount of European. Older relatives were told they were part Native. Many of my close matches to my mother have higher Mali than I do and even some Senegal. Was told my great grandmother practiced voodoo, so we were never to mention her often.
What I know is my father side has European but it differs from little amounts to higher amounts. Many of my matches from him have higher Indigenous (North Americas or Yucatán Peninsula), show Spain, Jewish, Italy, and higher Ireland.
Was told to consider the PR and under as noise but certain matches show these results on there. So, it’s…just there.
No idea what these communities stand for beside saying I’m AA. Still trying to build my father’s side of the tree.

2024.05.19 11:48 Nancy48236 Trailmaster Milano 50 N 50cc scooter review

Trailmaster Milano 50 N 50cc scooter review
Ordering a scooter online is a bit of a risky adventure, especially when you review the terms and conditions and the return policy. But, you have to agree to it in able to place the order. Less risky is buying at a dealer, but you pay a significant premium for the product. I've read horror stories online about folks receiving junk and even non-operating scooters. That is a possiblity, and with the terms to which you agree, very risky.
We were lucky, though, with Family Go Carts (FGK) and the Trailmaster Milano N 50cc scooters.
I ordered, online, two Trailmaster Milano N 50cc scooters from FGK - one for me, one for my husband - on May 1,2024. We received the scooters on 5/18/2024. Considering US shipping demand, that is a reasonable time to delivery. The lady at FGK who called me to coordinate the delivery was kind, and gave instructions on how to receive and prepare for the first run (ie. Change oil - upon arrival, the engine has shipping oil in it).
Shipping: "Free", but you have to pay access fee and lift-gate fee. Not too bad considering how shipping rates have skyrocketed in the last few years.
She asked for our second choice in colors. Thankfully, we got our first choice - light blue and white for me and black and white for my husband.
Unpackaging: Remove cardboard (there's no bottom to the cardboard). Just cut down the cardboard at any one of the corners, then walk around the steel skeleton shipping cage. Then you'll take off the top of the steel shipping skeleton. Undo all bolts and nuts on the bottom. You'll a;so have to undo the two bolts on the top that attach the steering column fork to the steel cage. Then, just tip off the cage on one end, and continue tipping it off to the other end.
Assembly: No instructions for it. Some assembly is a no-brainer, but the handlebars and front wheel require explanation. Thankfully, someone posted a video on the assembly of Trailmaster Milano: https://youtu.be/rMyJEkH3b4U?si=VRcDlm2-jIvNNGfC , I couldn't have done it without that video.
Handlebar assembly: First, just get the bolt in - front to back, with the curvey part of the washer against the column and between the column and the bolt head. Notice you can't get to the nut on the backside (unless you have 6" fingers of a contortionist). Don't worry like I did. Get the bolt in, assemble the front wheel, then come back the the handlebar column. Turn the bars far to one side. Now you can reach the backside of the bolt and add the nut. We added blue Loctite to the axle and the steering column/handlebar threads for the nuts.
Make sure you connect the blinkers. Trial and error to get left blinker coordinating with left blinker connector. Two trials if unlucky - not too bad.
You'll still have one body-based connector without a mate. Again, don't worry like I did - that's for the headlight. You'll assemble that later.
Front wheel assembly: The front wheel assembly is best with two people. First goal is to get the scooter out of the steel shipping skeleton and on flat ground so you can support the scooter on its center stand.
Get the scooter out of the steel shipping skeleton. This will require some muscle and two persons. Remove the front axle bolt that holds the scooter to the bottom part of the steel shipping skeleton. One straddles the scooter while keeping the front lifted up (shaking up and down) while the other removes the bolt axle. Once the bolt axle is removed, with muscles, one straddles the scooter while keeping the front lifted up and carefully walking through the steel cage bottom while the other person pushes from behind. Then, get the scooter center stand down so the scooter rests on that on flat, solid ground. We ended up balancing the frame of the scooter on a block of wood, then putting the center stand down.
Now, work on the front wheel. Slip the silver-colored, stainless axle bolt spacer into the wheel's disc side. It's frustrating getting the wheel on because you have to get the brake disc lined up with the brake pads (remove the pad spacer put in for shipping and toss it) and the speedometer on the other side correctly lined up with the wheel and fork, ALL that simultaneously while getting it lined up to insert the axle. Fun times! You may end up with assembly partners snapping at each other and swearing - a lot. Persistence and patience and it will get done. Add blue Loctite for final tightening on the axle/lug nut.
Oil change: Drain out all the shipping oil. There's a lot in there. After draining, we added about two cups of 15W40.
Headlight and front cowl assembly: Connect the headlight to the body-based headlight connector. Use the included zip ties to secure all the wires out of the way and neatly, without putting too much strain on any connections. Make sure you put the U-shaped, color matched plastic cover (in horizontal plane) separating the handlebars speedometer instrument from the front cowl. Snap it into the tabs. THEN, attach the front headlight cowl to the body. Don't do like I did - get the headlight front cowl section on then try to snap in the cover. I had to remove the headlight front cowl, snap in the color-matched cover, then re-attach the front headlight cowl.
Topcase/trunk: Best with two persons, but can be done with one. Big enough for a half helmet, gloves, goggles, wallet, and other little things. Looks good on the scooter, too.
Battery installation: This can be tricky. You have to have a square nut below the terminal screw. If you put the battery in the scooter and try to get those nuts under the terminal, you won't be able to do it. If you just try to balance the square nuts on the battery while dropping the battery into the scooter's battery compartment, the square nuts fall off. We decided to secure the nuts to the battery terminals with the terminal screw only half-turned. Then drop the battery in and complete connections. First, connect the black, then connect the red. The batteries we received were fully charged.
Moment of truth: Put premium gas in the tank. Since the carburetor is empty, you'll have to let the starter work a bit to get gas flowing into the engine. Didn't even take three total minutes. Run the starter for about 30-60 seconds, stop, repeat. Three times and it started right up. Whew. Let it run for a while. Good idle speed and it sounds like the aifuel mix is spot on.
One sees many horror stories about buying Chinese scooters online from dealers. And, those stories are bad. As I said above, you have to agree to the terms and conditions before you can buy. Those terms and conditions put all the risk on the buyer, not the dealer. So, know what you're getting into.
But, thankfully, FGK did well. We received both Trailmaster Milano N 50 scooters in a timely manner, without damage, and the scooters fired up right away.
Finally, registration of your scooter in your state: My state, Virginia, requires registration of 50cc scooters so you can display a license tag on the back. To register, you need a title. You don't get a title from this dealer. But, you get enough documentation from the dealer (manufacturer's transfer document, invoice, bill of lading) where you can fill out an easy affidavit for title. Get it notarized and submit with your title application and registration. Pretty easy and far easier and quicker than waiting for the dealer to do it for you, IF the dealer is willing to do it for you, that is. I didn't even ask FGK for their title transfer document, so I can't comment on their responsiveness to such a request. I did the easy work-around at the DMV.
So far, so good. I've gotten it up to 32 MPH (speedo reading, not GPS-confirmed), and that wasn't at full throttle. I'm still being careful with getting to full throttle until the engine has a bit of time to break in.
I am aware that we will have to wrench these scooters from time to time. Thanks to so many videos available online about how to work on the 139QMB GY6 50cc engines, I think we can do this. (edit to add: I attached a brown leather drink holder to the steering bars, just below the speedometer instrument, using a black velcro strap with a D-ring.. So, that's what that brown thing is - a drink holder. It's made by Hide-and-Drink and available on Amazon.)

2024.05.19 11:48 SalmonWheat Questions about blackwater and betta biotope

I'm interested in making a blackwater tank for a betta. I'm aware that they can tolerate pH ranges from 6.5 - 7.5, but I think it would still be nice to make a biotope that replicates their wild habitat and conditions?
I haven't made any blackwater tank before so I'm clueless as to how I'm gonna be making one, but I'll be doing more research moving forward, for now I wanna ask some basic questions as a starting point.
  1. Water - If I'm remembering correctly, to make a blackwater tank, you need at least a source of water with low mineral content or just plain water. Like RO, rainwater, etc? I'm wondering if there's a way to get past that if I don't have any access to those? I could use rooibos tea to get the tannin look, but wouldn't that just make it a faux blackwater? I would probably be putting IALs and other botanicals to lower the pH anyway, but if there's really no other option then I'll happily settle on a faux blackwater.
  2. Water changes - I think this is where the problem of not having a source of "blackwater-suited" water comes in. The tapwater in my area has a pH of around 7.5 (don't have test kits for other water hardness) so If I have a tank with a lower pH, then it might cause a problem when doing water changes.
  3. Possible solutions to question 2? The first thing I thought would be to store some tapwater and lower the pH by adding botanicals, until it matches my tank's water, then perform the water change. But I'm not sure about this yet and I would appreciate confirmation for anyone who has done this.
Another thing I could do is collecting rainwater, and just buffering it up with tap until it's the same as the tank's, if it's ever too low? I'm not sure if air pollution affects rainwater or if this method is even safe.
Question out of curiosity, would it be possible to have a blackwater tank without performing water changes? Maybe just overload it with plants that thrive in soft water, low light. Or riparian + floater plants until you don't have to worry about water changes. This seems unlikely or really hard to do, but I'm willing to try my luck.
  1. Smell - Do blackwater tanks smell? Given all those leaves and botanicals breaking down in the tank, surely that would also be releasing an odor. I wonder if the smell will disappear overtime as the tank matures/cycle, or is it just something you sign up for when making blackwater tanks?
  2. Any additional advice you can give to anyone who's starting a blackwater tank without experience?

Our kitten is still very hyper, which doesn’t match the energy of our resident cat. Our resident cat will hiss, growl and swipe when her energy is too high. Kitty is very persistent but will eventually back off. Here’s the weird part - when our kitten backs off and goes somewhere else, our cat follows her? Sometimes tries to sniff and lick her, but hisses at her when she turns around.
There’s never been fur flying, biting or blood when our cat swipes our kitten, so we think he’s still trying to set boundaries. However, it’s so weird that he can run away, or go into his safe space but he keeps wanting to be in the same room as our kitty, altho he doesn’t want her to look at him lol.
Anyone faced this before? Do we let them just continue with this and work things out?
