After a tough breakup where I heard the words no one wants to hear – that he didn't love me anymore – I found myself on an unexpected path to recovery. In less than a week, I've made significant strides in moving on. Sure, there are moments when the tears flow as I grieve the relationship that was, but these moments are becoming less frequent.
I'm rediscovering my appetite, not just for food, but for life. My drive to exercise has returned, fuelling a desire to become the best version of myself. I don't think I need to hate my ex to move on. Even if he played the villain in my story, I choose forgiveness and genuinely wish him the best. After all, he's growing and learning from life just as I am. Understanding that my ex isn't the villain in the story helped me a lot. I realized that moving on doesn't depend on hating him or jumping into a new relationship. It's really about reinventing myself into someone he's never met—a version of me that's robust and resilient. Now, my aim has shifted from trying to get past him to a broader goal of self-respect, where I never have to plead for someone's presence or stay in a situation where my boundaries are ignored…Truly, it is what it is.. I hate being told what to do and not do, what to say and not say, I want to be a pure, unfiltered and unbridled ball of pure energy and chaos, a little gremlin of destruction
I reject anyone who tries to control me, who tries to control others, I will stand up for the rights of others, I reject hypocrisy, I embrace freedom
I want to explore and experience all this world has to offer, I want to learn as much as I can, create beautiful works of music and art and writing, I want to be perceived as beautiful, I want to be the best at what I do, envied and admired because I fear being unloved and the more people that love me then the more people I can lose and still have more people loving me than if I started with less, I greatly fear abandonment and sometimes suppress myself to be accepted and I’ve recently decided I’m done hiding who I am
I have a tendency to overshare because I’m filled with constant anxiety and the need to share, it’s hard to not overshare because it feels like if I hide the negative aspects of myself from others, the dark twisted morbid thoughts and desires that I have no idea if they are true or merely intrusive thoughts I have deluded myself into thinking are true, if I don’t share that stuff it feels like I am being inauthentic but oversharing leads to losing friends and I greatly fear that
I have lashed out in the past for people abandoning me, adopted crusades of vengeance to ensure no one would want to be friends with those who abandoned me, I have since learned to not be vengeful and petty and to just accept that I don’t want to be friends with people who don’t want to be friends with me, and to accept they are bad people and undeserving of my friendship even if they are not bad and it’s actually me who’s bad if I tell myself they are bad then I am less likely to miss them regardless if them being bad is true or false
I want some close friends we can be our unbridled chaotic selves with together, deeply passionate and intimate, fiery in nature, loyal, and if I can’t find such friends I must distract myself from the pain of loneliness by any means necessary and I find that having high standards for myself which can be difficult and unlikely to achieve such as being the best at everything, the most beautiful person, rich and famous, to have goals like that that I am confident I can achieve despite those goals being difficult to achieve
to me those goals provide a distraction from my suffering, I’m tired of whining all the time, I want to act, I don’t want to be ordinary, to be like everyone else, I don’t exactly have a stable sense of self right now because of unmet mental health issues but to have no identity is terrifying
I rather die unknown and authentic than known and fake, if I am not unique then if someone loves me, how can I feel loved if what can be loved in me can be found in millions of others, if there’s nothing unique about me, then there is nothing uniquely me to love, I am me, I want to be loved for what is uniquely me, not for what millions of others possess
that’s another reason I want to be the best at what I do, beautiful, not everyone can be multi-talented so to me being so makes me more unique
I want to delve into many things, experience and learn many things deeply, to explore the fine details of stuff, to explore with all my senses, to not just dream about stuff but to actualize it, I’m very perfectionistic with my creative works
I wish I could live in whatever fictional/fantasy world I wanted, life can be outright boring and miserable at times and I must make the most of it
right now I am a very pessimistic miserable person, but I am just as equally if not moreso optimistic, I worry a lot, worrying about being a bad person, that I will never be happy and often feel I will have no choice but to end myself soon, but as long as I believe in myself and that good things will happen, it gives me hope, having goals that even I admit are highly delusional, gives me motivation to live
it gives me purpose, I can’t stand being without a purpose in life, I can’t stand being controlled, and I can’t stand having no identity, I want to spread my wings and be free, experience as much as possible before I perish, that is the only way to distract myself from pain, that’s why I want friends, I want to be loved and wanted, I want to help others and for others to be willing to help me
I hate suffering even for those who deserve worse than what they have received, and I do at times take pleasure in it, but I know it’s wrong to, I believe even the worst of people can change for the better and I will support them in doing so even if I will always hate them for what they did and never forgive them in a trillion years of good acts because nothing they could do can undo the harm they have caused
but even when I hate them I will support them in trying to be a good person as long as their desire is genuine, and not in a “them doing evil stuff mistaking it for goodness” kind of way, I mean like a person who used to murder now fighting to defend people’s lives and stop murders from happening and to catch serial killers, to catch people who they used to be like
I will support them in that even if I hate them and will never forgive them
sometimes I just wanna do nothing, sometimes I just wanna relax and give up on life, to do nothing, and dissociate from reality
but I don’t feel comfortable like that for long, I need excitement in my life, I have a lot of energy and love and creativity to share with others and the world, I must be unfiltered and uncontrolled, I must not merely survive, I must thrive, that is what it means to live, I will sacrifice my health and safety to experience the chaotic fun and affection I oh so desire, to be unloved is better than to be bored and miserable and unable to be authentic, to live without passion and excitement is truly miserable, relationships, food, those are merely tools for me to be able to experience excitement
I want friends to love deeply whom I’d never trade for the world, I want to experience intense, overwhelming affection for them, the euphoria of intense emotion and experience I desire greatly
i hate who I am now, I am a broken, flawed, ineffectual, bland, annoying person, lacking any energy to do anything with my life, I want to be how I described myself, chaotic, fun, imaginative, unique
I fully believe that who I am right now is not me, who I wish to be is the real me, the me I am too shy to express right now and need to develop the confidence to become
right now all I do is whine and complain about not being able to be who I want to be, experience and feel what I want to
I greatly envy others, those who aren’t broken and flawed like me, I wish they’d envy me, I wanna be fucking chaotic to the point of mental instability, I wanna live in the extremities, I don’t want to be perfect, I want to be flawed and broken, just not in a boring, constantly whiny way, I want to be broken in a beautiful way to be coveted and envied by others, for someone to see my broken state and be compelled to comfort me rather than try to change me, to save me by accepting me as I am
I have unstable sense of self and goals in life, the only one constant is that I want to be happy and to avoid pain unless it benefits me, sadness, anger, joy, all emotions are beautiful but when there is only one it becomes stale and overwhelming and suffocating
if there is only misery there is no happiness and if there is no misery the happiness becomes normalized and no longer feels euphoric because there is no sadness to contrast it
I want to suffer, just not forever and not too much, I just want to have a reason to live, to be happy, to have a purpose in life, I don’t want to die but if I have no reason to live what choice do I have
while my greatest fear in life is being unloved, my greatest desire is actually not social connection, it’s experiencing the intensity of life, intense experiences, intense emotions, I want a variety of experiences, to feel them in depth, a life without constant, intense excitement feels utterly restrictive and boring
most friendships do not satisfy me, I feel quite bored in most because most people do not satisfy my need for excitement, I’ll still stay friends because even a lack luster friend can still be more fun than no friend, but like I often say “I have no friends” or “nobody loves me” even when both are false because I do not have the friends I want and am not loved by who I want to love me
as I said, I want friends I can be deeply intimate with, fiery passion, unfiltered chaos, a complete lack of care of what others think of us, bold, confrontational, erotic

Talking about fiction here. I wish writing wasn't so commercial. Being commerical ia good. It allows the amazing ones to live off their writing and those who don't get traction can still get good side income. It's great, but there's this money-making aspect of it. Writing stories (film, TV, novels) earn good money and turns into a tool to get money. Call me old school, or a romantic or "set in my ways" when I say that writing stories is about self expression because it is to me. When I am going through tough times, all my stories are misery fest. When I am excited they turn grand, like a collection ten novels plotted out. I love stories because of the emotions they evoke in me. Not only deep emotions.
The thrill of Breaking Bad. The "that's so cool" moments of Spiderverse. The wtf of Attack on Titan. The tears that Gaurdians of the galaxy 3 got out of me. The excitement of Endgame. The intrigue of Agatha Christie. The amazing world of Heroes of Olympus.
I could go on, but what I mean is I love to read and write stories because I am having a great time doing it. And that is why it's hard to see how truly bad stories exist out there. There is a difference between a story made to make money and a flawed stories. It's really hard to see though because of the story was bad, it would be hard to see that it was a cash-grab. I guess what I can think of is The Nun. It's just not scary, and that's coming from me, a scaredy cat. I watched it when my response to any scary scene was to hide behind my hand, and I managed to watch it without any problem. But it was profitable and the sequel was too. And I am not talking about stories that didn't land. The Glass Onion didn't land for me, but it doesn't feel like it was made to make money. I guess what I am saying is if you want to make money, at least try. Objectively most stories out there are flawed. A lot of stories I listed above are flawed. All creations are imperfect. It's just sad to see those creations limp around with their deformities because they were not made to live, they were made to sell.

Is there a generally agreed procedure – or at least a handful of useful techniques?
Background:
I'm learning about concavity in curves of functions, specifically identifying the turning points and inflections in such curves.
To do this I'm building sign diagrams of f(x), f'(x) (first derivative) and f''(x) (second derivative).
For example:
So far my "technique" is pretty scrappy.
First I determine zero points (by inspection, completing the square or applying the quadratic formula).
Then I just punch tiny permutations into my calculator, e.g. `1.0001^2 - 1.0001^4`, etc, randomly to see whether they're negative or positive, and scrawl down the results. Then I try to throw together a sign diagram that seems right.
I would prefer to follow a consistent method that can generally get me accurate results.
So far I've got this short list:
A) Inspecting for obvious forcing of the whole result.
E.g. in an expression like: 2x^2 - x^2, the result can only be positive, because both sides square x and the left side only doubles that value, so will always be larger than the right.
B) Factoring/grouping.
Factor the polynomial into groups of multiplications if possible, then solve the sign of each group separately, then combined them in the end.
For example:
Drawing up a table of values of x (columns) and groups of the polynomial (from the Factoring/grouping above).

This can then easily be converted to a sign diagram.
D) Applying values of powers of fractions.
I noticed it's common that a fraction raised to a power will give a radically (no pun) different result to the whole polynomial.

It's not because these tools are inherently bad—actually, they're pretty good. I've used them myself and had a decent time. But the thing is, if you're not super careful, things can go messy very fast. These tools give you a lot of freedom, which is cool, but not everyone handles it well.

Advocating for Abortion Care in Canada:
- There is a serious lack of Abortion Care options in Canada, particularly in the rural areas, and for those living on reserves, they have almost no access to Abortion care. People may have to travel more than 100km and across provincial lines to access abortion. Some have to travel by plane from their rural community to one with an abortion clinic or hospital. This puts an unfair financial and logistical burden on those that need to access abortion care. Provincial Health Insurance Plans do not cover travel costs related to receiving medical care.
- Because many provinces have few facilities that provide Abortion care, this places an unreasonable load on the clinics that do exist, forcing clients to look elsewhere for facilities with capacity to help them. In Alberta, there is one clinic for every 209,077 people who can become pregnant (number of assigned-at-birth females between the ages of 15-29). PEI, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory each only have 1 Abortion care provider. Nunavut only has 2 abortion providers, and of those, only one offers medical abortion covered by the provincial health insurance plan. In fact, 9 (out of a total of 13) Canadian provinces and territories have five or fewer facililities offering abortion care in their entire province. And 10 Canadian provinces and territories have one or fewer (0) rural facililities offering abortion care.
- Some provinces, like PEI, have more restrictive guidelines regarding abortion, limiting access to abortion care to those with a gestational period of less than 12 weeks (meaning, 12 weeks since the first day of your last period, not 12 weeks since you discovered you were pregnant). Many people who menstruate have irregular periods. Some people might only menstruate every 2 or 3 months, and might only discover that they are pregnant near the gestation limit of 12 weeks.
- Insurance coverage also limits access to abortions. Provinces such as Nunavut do not offer coverage for medical abortions unless they are prescribed and performed in a hospital. And being a rural province, there also happens to be only 1 hospital in Nunavut - Qikiqtani General Hospital in Iqualuit. New Brunswick will only cover abortion services in a hospital setting, which means that abortion medical care provided in clinics are not covered by their Provincial Health Insurance Plan.
- Sexual and reproductive health services are among the services that physicians, pharmacists and nurse practitioners are most frequently unwilling to provide on moral or religious grounds. People may be harassed and attacked while visiting an Abortion clinic may experience stigma and/or discrimination from their peers, especially in smaller, rural communities where everyone knows one another. People refused care by health care professionals because of personal beliefs may experience stigma and/or discrimination, forcing them to travel outside of their community to receive the care they need. This can all be particularly daunting for young people or those with limited resources.
- Everyone in Canada is supposed to have equal rights to access health care, regardless of race, age, class, immigration status, gender expression, sexuality and ability. Nevertheless, anyone's right to seek abortion care can be be impacted by discrimination and bigotry, both systemic and as a result of individual prejudice on the part of service providers. Racism, xenophobia, classism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and ageism in Canada are all direct and intersecting barriers to accessing abortion. It is much more difficult for a person who doesn’t speak English to access abortion services, despite the presence of a translator. Transpeople also experience discrimination at higher rates in reproductive health care settings. Providers may also lack the knowledge or training to provide trans-affirming abortion care and abortion services are typically housed within *women’s* health care departments.
- Further compounding the issue of inequitable abortion access are unregulated crisis pregnancy centres (CPCs), which are anti-choice pregnancy centres that advertise in hospitals, doctor's offices, churches, schools and community centre. They deceive people coming to them for options and advice by giving misinformation about abortion or by insisting on options that may delay or interfere with the clients ability to access the care they need. CPCs far outnumber abortion care providers in Canada. In Ontario alone, there are 77 active CPCs but only 38 abortion care providers. Overall, in Canada, there are 165 known CPCs compared to 147 abortion care providers (as of August 2022).
What can you do to improve access to abortion care in Canada?
- Listen, research and learn. This is always the first step to understand any problem.
- Send a letter to your MP and MPP. Tell them that access to abortion care is important and how difficult it can be to access it in your province. Urge them to prevent anti-choice groups and CPCs from receiving charitable status, and to revoke the charitable status from CPCs that already have it. Encourage them to include reasonable reimbursement for travel costs related to receiving medical care when it is not available in your community. And push them to pass Safe Access Zone Legislation to protect patients, practitioners and their staff from anti-choice harassment and intimidation.
- Give a donation to a pro-choice charitable organization of your choice. Remember, if you give a total of $201 CDN or more to Canadian charitable organizations, you'll get a credit of 29% of your total annual donations on your income taxes (for those that file Canadian Income Taxes, only).
- Sign up for the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada Newsletter. https://www.arcc-cdac.ca/
- Participate in local marches and rallys in support of access to abortion care.
- Spread the Word. Tell your friends and family. Encourage them to research, listen and learn. Encourage them to contact their MPP and MPs.

- If you are a journalist or work in media, consider preparing pieces sharing the difficulty Canadians can have accessing medical care such as abortions.
- If you work in the area of Not For Profit/Advocacy, consider partnering with a Pro-choice organization and helping them spread information and lobby for improving access to abortion care for Canadians.
