2024.05.14 06:27 edm-princess advice plz

My mom and i were in her car (my mom driving) and someone rear ended her. the lady followed us to a parking lot where they exchanged info, the lady admitted fault and said her brakes failed. She texted my mom a pic of her insurance card and she agreed to pay for it through her insurance. we were in a rush and didn’t call a cop cause the damage was so minor. Now the lady wont answer her insurance company or any of their emails. they even sent a letter?? what happens when this happens?? is this just a lesson in the end to always get a police report? i feel really bad for my mom cause she’s struggling financially right now and doesn’t wanna pay her deductible.

2024.05.14 06:19 FishbedFive Same baseline really

There's not a car auction subreddit from what I've seen so i'm going to go here because it's basically gambling for piles of metal
I found a truly, chefs kiss, exquisitely clean 2017 Ford Explorer on a car auction not far from me with hail-caused paint damage. There's no minimum price and the website will let you ball with whatever so long as you're the highest bidder. As of current, no bids. Should I take the losing game that is gambling?

2019 Nissan Altima
I was hit the other day by a pickup with a huge trailer hitch on it. I’m talking it to the shop in a few days to get an estimate of the damage. I know my doors are toast but I’m concerned about my B pillar being dented and scratched. Will they total my car since it’s dented?

2024.05.14 05:46 humxoxo Need some guidance….

I have been working with a public defender for the last 8 months now and he is trying to get me into this program since it is my first offense. My blood bac was double over the limit and i rear ended a car but luckily my insurance covered for all of the damages. My court date has been reset multiple times now and i am still under pretrial supervision. Im wondering if i should just hire a lawyer or stick to my PD since i feel like something may be wrong if my court date keeps getting reset and pushed back. My PD doesn’t tell me much nor answers my calls at times. I’ve found some good local dui lawyers but they seem to be a bit pricey for me. I dont mind paying but i am afraid that the outcome will be same as what my PD can get for me. Is it worth hiring a lawyer ?

2024.05.14 05:37 Acceptable_Path2868 Toxic Victims

Nothing much here just playing victims and two decide to hold the game hostage. Me and my friend get out of car battery and just leave the other two dick around and bully leatherface just so the Leland can get a barge off. Since we tryna fix the game so much for people’s experience, how could the devs fix these situations or what could they implement for situations like this? Maybe increase in damage as more victims leave, or increased health drop when a Victim leaves or dies.

2024.05.14 05:09 roommietroubles Am I wrong for considering quitting on the spot over a controversy with my boss?

I’m going to try to keep this short, but basically a couple weeks ago I (25m) got into a very minor car accident in my company’s work vehicle on the way back to our warehouse. It’s a small, family owned business (I’m one of maybe 5 people who work regularly. Also I am not part of their family) although considering previous conversations with my boss (63m), I know he is not hurting for money and this year has been a wild success for him thus far.
Our work vehicle is insured, but my boss didn’t want to tell his insurance about the accident because he just recently changed policies on our work vehicles and was dodging messages from me when the other guy was harassing me over the accident & boss still wouldn’t give anyone his insurance info.
A few days ago I got a message from him saying the other guys’ repair was going to be $1700, which I’m still not sure is accurate considering the damage was only on the other guy’s blind spot mirror, and my boss expected me to pay him that amount out of my own pocket to give to the other guy.
I told him no, he needs to go through his insurance because that is what it’s there for and I don’t have $1700 to give away right now. I have also been making arrangements to move cross country for the past 6 or so months and everyone knows I’m leaving on June 1st. My own car died and I had to spend a lot more than I would have liked to to fix that as well recently. He told me not to worry about it anymore. I asked if that day would be the end of our professional relationship and he responded, “I hope not. You’re scheduled this Thursday.”
The real trouble I’m facing is that my boss has a history of gossiping, specifically, to his son (20m) that also works with us. I just got a text a few minutes ago from one of my other coworkers saying that our Boss’ son explained to him today that I’m a bad person for not giving my boss the money because the whole point of him expecting money from me is so he can save money on his company insurance policy instead of filing a claim and a few people I work with, including that guy who texted me, agree with that sentiment and are disappointed in me over it.
Which brings us to the question: Knowing my coworkers are kinda villainizing me for this, Would I be wrong if I told my boss I will not be showing up for my final 2 shifts? The years I’ve worked for this job, it just feels like I’ve had my time and hard work taken advantage of and right now, the gossiping about me might be the final straw, but on the other hand the extra money would be helpful and awkwardness being around these people is very temporary. Those final two work days will probably be over 12 hours a piece because it’s the nature of our industry. Is it worth it to even spend another minute with people who are talking shit about me over this?

2024.05.14 04:57 ionlyredditcasually Got rear ended and the guy behind me is claiming it is my fault...how should i proceed?

So i got rear ended on the highway the other day and I've never been in an accident before so apologies for the questions.
The accident happened in stop and go traffic when it was wet from raining a few hours earlier. I changed lanes into a new lane and was fully in my new lane for a good 30-40 seconds. As i braked when the guys in front of me braked, I saw in my rear view mirror the guy behind me coming at speed and rear ends me....now we pull over and 911 says cops arent going to come.
We both file claims and I get a call from his insurance company basically saying that guy claims I cut him off....which is bs. Now the damage to my car is on the bar right side (impact dents and what not) and his damage is on the front left side. The reason the damage is only on one half of the rear of my car is because the guy behind me tried to swerve to the right at the last second to avoid the collision.
Now does this guy actually have grounds to put some of the fault on me? I mean its a "he said she said" situation i guess. I am worried the photo evidence (since damage is only on one side) could actually give him an edge. Should i be concerned and how should i proceed when talking to insurance? Are mediators able to judge from the photos of damage whether his claims are true or not?

2024.05.14 04:48 Saix150894 Landlords/ REA's making frivolous claims on Bond

I'm genuinely curious about this, I'm not intimately familiar with the law and how it works but I've never really heard of there being any real consequences for the highly unethical actions of some Landlords and REA'S.
Example A: I buy a ca house and insure it. I proceed to light it on fire myself, claim that it was troubled youths that did it and attempt to make a claim on my insurance. That's insurance fraud and I can face up to 10 years in prison for doing so.
Example B: Landlord/ REA of a property makes a claim on a renters bond for damage to the property, let's say its damaged flooring for simplicity. The tenant has been in the property for many years, however the damage to the floor was clearly laid out in the entry inspection report submitted by the tenant.
In both situations, a party is making a bogus claim in attempt to defraud another party of money.
Can anyone explain to me how this isn't considered fraud? They're literally attempting to defraud a tenant of their security bond over an issue that the REA/landlord knows full well isn't the fault of the tenant.
Why is the REA not facing an immediate loss of licence for clearly bringing a frivolous claim against a tenant? Why is the landlord not facing fraud charges? I imagine there might be some kind of $ threshold for considering it as fraud but with the kind of power imbalance that exists between Landlords/ REA's vs Tenants, isn't it kind of insane that nothing really happens?
If there are any; what deterrents actually exist to prevent this from happening? Because I'm seeing posts about this kind of behaviour on a daily basis.
What authority exists (in any state) that overseas REA ethics? What are the chances that dobbing them in actually nets some kind of result?

2024.05.14 04:45 ThisisNotAnExit90 Trying to figure out my life professionally and personally after a crash almost killed me

I can walk around just fine, but I got hit by a car as a pedestrian a few years back and can't really use my right arm/hand. I moved to LA recently ... and while I have a car, I'm afraid to use it. Every time I get on one of the highways I see damaged cars, speeding drivers, all sorts of stuff that scares me.
(In full disclosure, it took me until a few months ago to realize I will have to apply for partial disability. There are mental health issues as well -- serious depression, PTSD, etc.)
It's a vicious cycle because the type of therapy/driving lessons I need aren't covered by insurance. And I'm on my own for the first time in life -- sterling resume, but my career was interrupted by the crash (2017), my mom's cancedeath (2019-2021), and the pandemic (and the inflation it's caused).
I have a temp gig back home from July through August, but I need to make some money now. I also have been away from people for so long, my mental health is seriously declining ... the strikes in LA still reverberate.
The internet seems to have become especially toxic in the last two or three years. There's so much spam, fake listings, fake recruiters, etc.
Any advice? I'm stuck in this apartment most days and feel like I'm kind of losing it.

2024.05.14 04:45 Sparrowflop Best weapons to watch for?

I just did the car random encounter, got myself a couple pps, a skorpion, a couple of those c9 Mauser things.
So far it seems like using a TT for trash and a skorpion for serious work on Fidel is good.
My main is currently rifles, but I think I'll respec to automatics. I think my luck score plus unlucky optimist aren't really going to play well with sniper, seems like you want to crit a lot with that.
Shotguns seem fun but does each pellet suffer against armor and damage threshold
The gun store is selling the rpk, but how does one get enough ammo?
Now that I'm mostly using store made guns, there's no reason to keep any points in tinkering right? It was a cool idea to do my own crafting but the jam percentage is hard.

2024.05.14 04:44 Spirited-Example1717 Cop charged a Jane doe in my name. Help!

So this is a story too crazy to believe. My car was parked at my sisters house and while we were in her car out to lunch a drunk girl who was being mentally unwell got the cops called on her.
She said she wasn’t trespassing went up to my car claiming it to be hers. She gave the cop a few fake names but he ran my plates and going off my license in the system charged ME for resisting arrest and trespassing.
I only found out because later that Night my family got a call that I was in the ER. The girl had come in to the hospital with only her court and arrest paperwork that had my name on it.
The cop claims she had similar facial features to my drivers license photo..
I’ve read anyone without id in a drunken state would be taken in as a JANE DOE. Ive gotten the report and there’s barely any information from the arrest
I am now charged with 2 misdemeanors the DA won’t talk to me until my court date in over a month and the magistrate won’t do anything until court in June.
There was damage to my car but without them having her name or bringing her in as a jane doe and figuring it out I can’t seek reimbursement. I’m also afraid to apply for a job get it only to be turned away for charges that aren’t mine. Luckily they fingerprinted her so I can do fingerprints to prove she’s not me.
Do I have a right to file a complaint after court for money or reimbursement of inability to gain employment and distress? Im going through a nasty divorce and don’t want my ex to try and take my kids from me submitting these charges under my name.
I’m not looking for a lot but I have to think such poor work from the police department & failure to do a proper investigation. What would you do?

2024.05.14 04:43 Rorschach_81 How to deal with (jerk) neighbour?

Some preliminary info:
My mum and I have lived in our townhouse for over 10 years. During that time, we have constructed planter boxes that are set on our driveway (we don't own a car, so we use the space for that). For many years my mother has carried out her hobby of gardening there. We received new neighbors approximately 1.5 years ago. For the longest time, they would be throwing parties that would leak over to the AMs of the next day, as well as do renovations. While being understanding, it got to a point where my mum couldn't take the noise anymore at night. After numerous attempts to contact our new neighbours to decrease the noise of their parties, she finally made a noise complaint to a city. Parties started to occur less frequently.
THEN came the REALLY noisy stuff. The majority of my neighbors' renovation was to finish the basement. It was during this time when OUR house would start to shake at times. Aside from the fact that this distracted my mum from doing her (remote) job, it drew a concern as to what could possibly be happening in their basement that would cause OUR house to shake. Again, she reached out to them numerous times, with vague answers. And again my mother filed an anonymous complaint.
Turned out, they did not have the permits for the type of construction they were doing in the basement. They got super-peeved at us, as they now were delayed and had to spend a bit more money.
Anyways, fast forward to 1.5 months ago, I'm helping mum with gardening stuff. The male neighbor (of the couple) decides to approach us. He decides to "apologize" and be the "bettebigger person". Following his apology though, he makes a complaint about one of our planter boxes, the one that borders the property line between us. He says that some of the wood pieces are falling off/poking out onto his property (fair, though my mum reckons he purposely took some of the pieces of, but that's speculation). He decides to give us an ultimatum: either move the planter box more onto our property (an inch our two, but with soil and wood, probably weighs a ton, so not happening), repair the boards, or destroy it. Otherwise he will complain to the city that the planter box is on his property. So.... he's still a little butthurt that we complained to the city of his actions, and wants to have something over us.
But my mum remained positive. Understanding that the outer pieces of the planter box ARE weathered (some scrap 2x4s, some decent pieces of wood), she set out to buy sheets of new plywood that would be weather-proofed, and would replace those pieces after I took them out and drilled the sheets in.
This evening we were measuring the dimensions of the planter box to figure out what lengths I would need to cut the plywood. To make one of these measurements, we had to step into our neighbors' driveway. He saw what we were doing, and asked us to get of his property. We explained what we were doing, to which he responded "unless YOU have a permit to do this, the only thing you can do is destroy it, otherwise I'll be filing my own complaints" (not verbatim, but that was the gist of it). My mum and him at a little tiff, but I got the last of the measurements for us to then leave his driveway.
I am not a confrontational person; I'm not good at aggression or telling strangers to fuck off. But I do not like the fact that I have this intimidating dude trying to scare my old mum and threatening her to destroy something she's worked years on. Furthermore, I have the following contentions:
Anyways, I think we'll try our best to fix up the box as efficiently as we can. We won't be covert about it, but to avoid the neighbors yelling at us again, not gonna loudly advertise it. Just drill out screws, take pieces out, and drill in a big sheet. But does anyone want to chime in on what rights I have if this guy calls the cops on us or makes a scene? Again, we're doing this at HIS request, and he's making it difficult to do. Or if you believe there is bias on my part, feel free to point it out! Free to answer questions as well. Hope I was able to get my points across. Any law stuff would help also!

2024.05.14 04:40 ChaseyPorter My husband didn’t acknowledge me at all on (my 1st) Mother’s Day

Yesterday was Mother’s Day, and I’m feeling so overlooked/unappreciated because my husband didn’t do, or even say anything: not even “Happy Mother’s Day Babe”
We just had our first baby four months ago, and I am now a SAHM. I do my best to be the one to get up with the baby at night because I want my husband to get some sleep so he can be ready for his day at work. I never get a break, not on weekends or anything. I don’t complain, and I don’t need any gifts. I try to make sure everything at home is buttoned down so that he doesn’t have to worry about anything when he comes home. I even mow the lawn and weed whack the yard every week all while juggling a baby and breastfeeding. I don’t want anything except a card with some words written in it, a hug and “you’re doing great/you try your best/I appreciate what you do” would have meant the world. When my husband saw that my sister had gotten me a gift, and my parents had written me a card; I think he panicked and started searching Amazon. We were visiting my mom and staying at her house at the time so I never said anything to him until at night he asked if I was ok and I said “no I’m not, you didn’t even say happy Mother’s Day to me today.” He said “let’s celebrate Mother’s Day privately when we get home. Your gift is at home.” He didn’t call his mom that day, instead he sat in the guest room of my mom’s house for hours and I covered for him saying he was taking a much needed nap while I FaceTimed his mom with our son. When we got home there was an Amazon package in the driveway and after unloading the car, starting laundry, unpacking, etc I found a card on my side of the bed and a package of some sort. I have not opened the card or the gift because I feel like this is the most half assed chicken shit damage control I have ever seen and I’m bitter about it now. Is this his idea of celebrating privately is?
I feel like shit, very overlooked, unappreciated, and as though I’m a burden or something. I’ll get over it eventually, but wow, my heart is shattered.

2024.05.14 04:36 Fio1337 I crashed, now what?

I'm in Colorado can anyone tell me how much I can expect to be covered?
I had accepted a ride and was pulling in to pick them up. I swang into a parking space and I caught the side of my car on a parked car's bumper, causing damage to their bumper and the side of my car.
Is my car covered at all? I presume theirs is but what kind of deductible can I expect?

2024.05.14 04:35 PrestigiousFennel857 Grinding noise after flat change

I changed my driver's side front tire recently with a spare, and when removing the original flat I had to move the car back and forth lightly because it wasn't coming off. It ended up slanting, so the car went down on that side quite a bit (nothing visibly touching the ground, though.)
I put on the spare, and heard major grinding noises. The next day I had all four tires replaced, and immediately after heard a lot of grinding. The guys sanded down a barrier (I honestly forget the name they used) on that side, and ever since it's been fine unless I make a right turn, then I can lightly hear grinding.
Based on what I've described, is this something I should be having a mechanic look at? The noises really are no longer there in any meaningful sense, but I'm concerned I might have damaged the axles or something larger when the flat was removed.

2024.05.14 04:32 leathur_records Do you think flying cars would be a blessing or a burden?

I think it would be both. We would obviously be able to get to our destinations much faster but on the other hand, every car accident would most likely be fatal, unless every car had a mandatory safety parachute in case of that. Then again, if the crash damaged the parachute…
well thats not good. ☠️
Also, if flying cars were a possibility in the future, do you think a pilots license would be required to fly your car?

2024.05.14 04:32 icyteardrop Is anyone else in genuine danger when going out alone?

I can not get out on my own. I get lost after like 2 minutes of walking, I will genuinely not know where to go. I cross the street without looking, because I just forget. I think my maladaptive daydreaming and dissociation contributes to this a lot. When I was younger I still went out walking and cycling sometimes and this often went wrong. However my caregivers wanted me to get to places myself. I had pretty low self awareness and unfortunately back then I also struggled to realise how dangerous it was, until 2018 when I was hit by a car because I forgot to look and broke my back and leg. I have a lot of permenant damage from this. Nowadays the people who care for me still encourage me to go out on my own and I feel like people don't believe me when I say it's genuinely dangerous for me to go out on my own, they think I am just anxious and avoiding it but I am very serious about it.

2024.05.14 04:32 D_creeper0 Mirrorwatch Wreaking ball idea

So basically imagine that mirrorwatch Hammond is with overwatch at first, and then starts developing mechs for the MEKA squad (I don't really know a lot about d.va's story so let's just say it's the same in the original universe and in the mirror universe). He then decides to try to make a mech for himself and and up joining as.... D.straction (yes I know the name isn't great)
So here are the actual reworks:
Instead of Wreaking ball, his mech is more like D.va's mech, but it can turn into a levitating yellow car (like a transformer basically)
Quad cannons now deal a bit more critical damage (in order to increase his kill potential)
Ball form Car form : he turn into a car, when he accelerate/decelerate quickly it charge electrostatic which deals AOE electric damage. Car for also allows him to drift because why not.
Grapple boost : charge for a short distance forward, more Boop in combat form, more damage in Car form, quick cooldown that can be channeled to send yourself flying (the longer you channel, the longer the cooldown)(consumes static)
Slam Skyward thunder : sends him and ennemies flying, only usable when a certain quantity of static is charged.
Minefield Plasma doubles : summons 3 temporary afterimages near him that doesn't shoot, but explode upon contact and move unpredictably. To add to the chaos, D.straction becomes invisible and the afterimages will copy the original's ability (so if you boost, they will all boost in random directions) (charging enough static and then boosting or Skyward Thundering will summon used up doubles) (They each deal 175 damage)
What do you think of it?

2024.05.14 04:31 passwordstolen “I’m obligated to go to the board and tell them what I saw”

Cliff tells Howard he is obligated to go to the board, after Howard appears to be on drugs and blew the arbitration hearing.
But wouldn’t he have been obligated to tell the board back when he saw “cocaine” fall out of his locker, tossed a prostitute out of his car and maybe even tell them about the hookers at lunch? There was a judge sitting right there watching at lunch, so people definitely hear about that and word would get back to the board and possibly blow back on Cliff.
Cliff’s character seems unimpeachable and I don’t see him covering for Howard for felonies or any behaviors that could damage the firms reputation. Owners have been fired for much less than that. Take John Scully and Steve Jobs for example, and that was a tech company, not even a high profile law firm.

2024.05.14 04:27 Voltinus87 Who is liable for gunshot repairs?

Alabama neighbor has a mid-20s girl still living at home who negligently fired a gun that damaged my car. She admitted to it and originally offered to pay, but now can't find the money to do so. Do the parents have civil liability/responsibility to cover the cost of repairs since the gun was fired on their property and it was their daughter who did so while living in their house? The parents also originally offered to cover damages but now are saying it has to come from the daughter (who likely can't pay). Can they be required to pay through small claims court?

2024.05.14 04:25 Dismal-Vegetable-792 I’m 13 hours into a 16 hour walkthrough on Youtube and I have a lot of questions

I have never played GTA in my life. I didn’t know really anything about the game until I watched danny gonzalez play some on a twitch stream in 2021. I enjoyed it, mostly because I find games where you can be really bad at driving, super hilarious (I once watched a family friend play a game where the goal was to cause a certain $ amount worth of damage to a city. If anyone knows that game I would love to hear it bc I’ve been looking for that game for some time). But I never watched anything more about the game.
Some time in the last 3-5 months I would get all kinds of GTAv lore in my Youtube. I am a sucker for lore, and if it helps me understand a game I don’t know, that millions of people love, maybe I’ll understand more memes. So I watched it and enjoyed myself. GTAv graphics kinda remind me of the sims 3 and I’ve always been a huge fan of the sims. It was Fizhy’s YouTube video that introduced me to GTA. I watched videos about the murder in the mineshaft, ghost dog, infinity killer, Jolene Cranley-Evans, etc. I really enjoyed WallJump’s video on the infinity killer. I also watched plenty of videos from the game of characters interacting and cool car tricks, how to play without breaking any laws, can you beat the game with only a pistol ETC.
All that to say, I had some scenes from the game that I knew to expect in this 16 hour playthrough. But some of it’s not there at all? I know I have three hours left but how would they complete the missions for Leonora Johnson? And Epsilon? And the infinity killer etc etc. Am I missing something? I feel like a 16 hour playthrough should cover this?
And I’m not a gamer so I don’t know how most games work, is this the main story and there are more storylines to be discovered? I’ve taken a real liking to this game and don’t know if I’d be good at playing it, so why waste money on the game + an Xbox just to find out I suck at it.
TLDR; Scenes are missing from the playthrough that I’ve seen other people play on youtube
