Female making a day trip to NOLA this Saturday (I'm in Baton Rouge and do so periodically). Coming solo and looking for a fun area to explore/something fun to do/happiest places to eat (not looking for Cajun/Creole, sorry). I've been to the French quarteJackson square plenty. Already been to the aquarium, WWII museum, art museum, zoo. Not looking for bars or cheesy tourist exhibits. Give me a pretty place to walk/chill for a while? Pretty certain it's going to be Shaya or Mas Arepas for dinner but tell me where else I need to go. Thank you!

29yo M from Baton Rouge here looking to visit LA next week. I really only have May 24 to try to get an LA experience then have to go to Temecula for a wedding. I'll be travelling alone so a bit nervous about going to my first rave in an unknown city alone. But I'm staying in a hostel in Santa Monica so fingers crossed I meet someone who likes to party there.
All I see is how unsafe certain parts of LA are and with me not knowing the city I'd like to save me getting robbed for another day. (Thanks reddit for the skid row heads up). I've looked on DICE, RA, 6AM, and LA Raver for some events popping up and may try to go to one of those. The underground/ afters scene looks like a fun place to take a little trip, dance, and vibe, just wanna make sure I'm in a good place to do so. Any advice on finding these or going alone to them? Definitely planning to Uber

We'll be on the Blues Trail this summer, starting in Baton Rouge and heading north to Memphis. My son (14 and 12) will hit as many sites as we can. I'm wondering if there are any kid friendly live music venues? I imagine I won't be visiting any juke joints, lol. I see that Ground Zero has kids leave at 9 pm and their music starts at 8 pm. Even if it's touristy, I'm wondering if there are any live music venues that are family friendly. Thanks!

Planning a trip with my cousin for 3 weeks getting a Rental van and driving and exploring any recommendation
30 June -8 July fly to Dallas, take a rental van and stay in Dallas for 3 nights exploring nearby places
3-5 July Dallas to Baton Rouge explore New Orleans and nearby places then drive to San Antonio and be there for 3 nights 5-8 July on 8 go to Dallas and fly to sfo
10 July take a rental car to redwoods, yachats, Seattle and back via Lake Tahoe to sfo on 18 July
Can anyone suggest what not to miss and do
We would prefer a mix of city and national parks

Sorry if this story is everywhere I’m not the best at story telling😭
So this happened a little over a year ago in January of 2023. So my (f23) bf’s (m24) mom passed suddenly in January of 2023, completely unexpected, it took everyone by a whirlwind. So I’m a college student and my bf is not, also note that we live in San Antonio, Tx and the funeral was in Baton Rouge, LA (an 8 hour drive from each other). So when his mom passed he was in the BR and I stayed in SA and he and his brothers had to do funeral planning and everything and my dad called and told me “if the funeral is this day or this day we can go down there but I don’t want you going to that city alone (it’s not a safe city if you don’t know” so I told my bf “if it’s this day or this day I can come to the funeral” it ended up not being any of those days but I still tried to find a way to get down there but there was a freeze so at the time the greyhound busses weren’t running, I didn’t have a ride (I also didn’t have my car down there at the time), and I had no money for a plane ticket, also lost my credit card at the time so I couldn’t put tickets on my cc either, oh and also my dad was only able to take me those specific days because of his work schedule. So anyways I couldn’t go, even with the efforts I made I just genuinely couldn’t go because nothing worked out in my favor. So months after the funeral he tried making me feel bad for not going and I told him everything I tried (busses, plane tickets, rides) and that they all just wouldn’t work out and he said “if you wanted to be there you would’ve” but quite literally I had no way of getting there and I also told him that school was an issue because at the time I was taking labs and the way that makeup labs worked it wouldn’t have worked out for me either. But anyways over a year later he keeps trying to make me feel bad for missing the funeral and of course I would’ve loved to be there and support him but he’s acting like I didn’t try to get there at all so it’s at the point where I just don’t feel bad anymore because he keeps trying to make me feel bad. Aita??
Also sorry this is everywhere. I just started rambling at one point because it’s a lot easier to say this story in person than over text

Other than the oil industry, I would love to see more of the technology industry come to the state.
I know there is IBM in Baton Rouge and DXC technology in New Orleans, I wish there were a bunch more companies like that throughout the whole state
Maybe also the airlines industry. I know a lot of airline companies headquarters are either in Texas or Georgia. But I think it would be great if they came here also. I’m not sure if the state’s high tax rate is what keeps companies away.

I’ve played one game before at LACC Lafayette and it was really fun, even though i had to have some things explained to me. i understand the basics of dnd (like initiative rolls and charisma and different dice.) and listen to lots of dnd podcasts but the dnd groups at my school (im a senior nxt year) aren’t looking for new players. is there anywhere in baton rouge that’s looking for new players? or maybe any dnd events i could attend?
