2024.05.14 03:55 Dapper-Ad4121 My birthday

Hi guys! This is my first time posting here and i need your opinions. Me and my MM have been together for a little over 2 years now and since then i’ve celebrated my birthdays with him (even if it was one week later). We don’t really date because it’s hard to find an opportunity(or so he says) only when it’s my birthday and one other time last year. My birthday is coming up in a week and i kept mentioning it to him for about a month now that i wanna celebrate it with him and it’s also the perfect opportunity because we both would be free that day… or so i thought. Today when i asked him again about it he told me that “he’s not sure” and that “he doesn’t think it’s possible “ because he has lots of meetings next week including that day and that he can’t just cancel because “it would seem weird if he would cancel meetings just to hang out with friends”(his excuse for when he’s meeting with me). The thing that bothers me is that the week after that one (on the day that we’re both free)he has another bday celebration and he can’t miss that one even though it’s 2h30min away(5 hrs driving in total) and the week after that one he planned meetings again on the same day we’re both free( he works 6 days a week so we can only meet on a particular day). But what bothers me is that i asked him what if he had meetings on the day with the other bday and he said he would cancel them even though “they’re really important and can’t really postpone them” so then why can’t he do that for my birthday or why did he even plan them when he knew it’s the only day we could actually go out together. It just hurts me that i’m not a priority to him … He told me when he can find an opportunity we will do smth and that’s all he can tell me…and that’s probably gonna be a month from now at least, but that’s not celebrating my birthday… Do you think it’s right for me to feel upset?
PS. I know it seems like i make a big fuss about my birthday and that I should’ve known what I signed up for but tbh i never cared about celebrating my birthday before him, but he’s special to me and i just wanna spend it with him and have fun together …it’s also the only times we actually went out on dates so i was expecting it. How would you guys feel?
Thank you for reading all of this

2024.05.14 03:31 Electronic_Cause682 Is going to the Pre-Hire List bad?

Last week I interviewed (971) off the street for an MM position for which I think there is only one vacancy and got an ‘Eligible’. My 955 score was 76ish so not great I feel, but still a pass. Anyway, I just had my status changed from Pre-Screening to Pre-Hire List. Am I correct in assuming that if I was actually in the running that I’d have gone to the Hire List or Selection List instead? I was really hopeful for this position because it’s something I think I’d excel at. I thought despite my low score I’d still have a fighting chance because of the difficultly of the exam (ie it’s not just a basic personality test) and the fact that at least 3 career people that I know of applied internally and couldn’t make it because of the exam or interview, which made it go to external hiring.

2024.05.14 03:02 FARTSNIFFER9051 Why Oogie Boogie vs Alastor still holds up 3: Shitty debunks never die

Why Oogie Boogie vs Alastor still holds up 3: Shitty debunks never die
Wow, thank you so much Dependent Ad for this completely pointless and repetitive debunk! I'm getting sick of this so let's get it over with. This is like the third one, sorry if my points are redundant but this debunk itself is redundant.
“Both are sadistic, power-hungry, charismatic and man-eating villains from animated media who have a 1930s aesthetic (Oogie Boogie is based on Cab Calloway. Who was at the height of his popularity in the 1930s; Alastor was alive around the time period and was a radio host).”
The first bit about their personalities is fine, it’s not particularly wrong, just a bit generic. That being said, the 1930s aesthetic is a pretty big stretch on Oogies end given it’s entirely based on inspiration and very little to do with Oogies character. Nothing to do with his looks, mannerism, or presentation screams 1930s. This is comparing someone loosely based on someone from the 1930s to someone dying in the 1930s. Granted, this isn’t a super important connection that keeps the MU afloat so it’s not a big deal but still not a great start.
-Fair enough then
“Both exist in magical alternate dimensions from ours filled with creepy creatures and people (Halloween Town; Hell).”
Firstly of all, what person is in hell? There’s not a single one and I only bring this up because you actually specified. Second, comparing Halloween Town to actual hell is kinda funny. Yes, both are dimensions with monsters, but that’s where the similarities end. Halloween town is a place that’s made to uphold Halloween and keep the holiday afloat. Hell on the other hand is a barely functioning society that was made by accident and is now used to punish sinners for all of eternity. Also halloween town isn’t an alternate version of our world, nothing about it is similar aside from having a community.
-Nitpick much? What do you fucking want me to say? “They live in creepy alternate dimensions with the citizens having contrasting behavior”. Oh wait, you complain about me pointing out the differences in the connections anyway. So I guess it's just a fucking lose-lose for me am I right?
“Both are animal-like creatures (Oogie Boogie is a talking sack of bugs; Alastor is a deer dude).”
Not entirely wrong. Oogie is an actual sack of bugs while Al is more demon then deer but the connection still stands, it’s just kinda boring and not entirely true.
-Fair enough
“While they are intimidating and powerful they still have minions to help them, whether they want to serve them or not (Lock, Shock and Barrel are known as "Oogie's Boys". They're incredibly loyal to Oogie Boogie; Husk and Niffty souls are both owned by Alastor. And because of that Husk genuinely despises Alastor).”
Ummmm, what? You’re comparing kids that follow oogie boogie around and do his dirty work, to what can be described as Alastors slaves. Ignoring that Alastor has actual summons that fit Oogies boys better, this isn’t a connection that goes further then “they have underlings” and even then that’s a stretch. It’s not even like it’s that good of a contrast given that, again, it’s kids who like oogie vs actual slaves.
-What summons apparently Oogie's Boys better? Also I don't see how they're not similar in concept.
“Both before the events of the main story they tried obtaining high social power, with one failing while the other succeeded (Oogie Boogie tried taking over Halloween Town and mix it with his own bug themed holiday, turning it into Crawloween, but failed; Alastor when he was sent to hell started killing off the Other Overlords until he reached the top and became the strongest Overlord in Hell).
Why is this framed as a connection when it’s a contrast? One that’s fine on paper, until you get into the finer details of their worlds. Oogie wanted to rule over halloween town, which would basically give him full control over the holiday of halloween. Alastor on the other hand wanted to be the strongest OVERLORD in hell. This is important cause in the grand scheme of things, an Overlord is not super powerful in hell. It’s the strongest a sinner can get but they’re like mid tiers. Alastor also isn’t the strongest overlord, with Zestial and Carmine being the strongest with it being implied him and vox are about even. It is never stated that Alastor is the strongest overlord, but that he got into a position of power very quickly. In political terms, it’s comparing Oogie wanting to be president to Alastor wanting to be a CEO, which isn’t a bad comparison but falls apart when you look at it just a little closer.
-Pretty nitpicky point to make since while the roles they're trying to get are different they're still doing the same fucking thing. Isn't that what fucking matters?
“Both became infamous in these dimensions because of this, but whether willingly or not they started to lie low (Oogie Boogie was banished from Halloween Town and so lives in the outskirts of it; Alastor after murdering every Overlord completely disappeared from the public scene for [as of now] unknown reasons).”
Ah yes, being run out of town and being banished vs basically taking a vacation. Now I’ll be nice here, lets assume that the popular theory that Alastor was lilith's lap dog for the 7 years he was gone, seeing that’s the most popular theory as of right now. It would now be Oogie being run out vs Alastor being a slave in a different dimension. Is it better? Kinda. Is it good? No not at all. And keep in mind, this is me being nice and going with the popular theory of where Al was, meaning even if it was spot on true it would STILL need to be taken with a grain of salt because it is a theory. At best, it’s a comparison thats relies on a theory to stay afloat. At worst, a shit comparison thats barely comparable.
-How? They're both leaving town and the public scene! It's the fucking same in concept.
“Both ended up showing back up when the kind hearted but naïve ruler protagonists of these worlds needed help with their plans (Jack Skellington when he got Oogie Boogie's minions Lock, Shot and Barrel to kidnap Santa Claus; Charlie Morningstar when she needed up to get the Happy Hotel up and running).”
Oogie doesn’t even show up, like at all. Not once does Oogie ever actually directly help Jack. The very first time they meet in the movie they try to kill each other. Meanwhile Alastor is one of Charlies closet friends, does everything for her, and is acting more like the cool step dad that tries to replace her real dad. Once again, that’s barely comparable.
-He controls Lock, Shock and Barrel and tells them what to do
“[IDK if I should or shouldn't remove this connection, but] Both ended up betraying the protagonists (Lock, Shot and Barrel sending Santa Claus to Oogie Boogie's lair even though they promised to not involve Oogie Boogie in Jack's plan; Hazbin Hotel hasn't gotten there yet but Viv has said that Alastor will betray Charlie).”
I’m not gonna bring up the fact that this uses something that hasn’t happened yet, my alastor MU does the same thing and it does say that it has not happened yet. No, what I’m going to bring up is that viv never said anything about Alastor eventually betraying Charlie. Yes anyone with the slightest bit of foresight knows he 100% will betray her but viv has never confirmed it.
-Fair enough
Ending Thoughts:
As you can tell, none of these connections work well and all of them have at least something wrong with them. They’re at best stretched and at worst flat out wrong. But Connections aren’t everything, so let’s move onto the fight potential.
-In conclusion literally everything I fucking said in the last rebunk applies here and I'm sick of this shit. What the fuck was even the point of this Debunk? Do you have a hate boner for Oogielastor so much you just had to create this?
Fight Potential: Lets look at Alastor's kit first:
Alastor has quite a bit, we haven’t seen everything he can do but we’ve seen that hes a very skilled fighter, being able to work from most ranges but generally likes to keep distance with this minions and tentacles. He also has portal creation, size changing, and fire manipulation. He has an overall fencer style of fighting, opting to bait and punish if he can’t simply just overpower who he’s fighting. Now lets look at what oogie has
Oogie has…fists. And can throw some pumpkins. He also has a shadow, that can also throw pumpkins. And ghosts that do nothing. And can grow big.
-I'll give you that
Ok so one thing I think people don’t understand is everything Oogie can do is very limited given how he’s far more of a trap character with his house having his more interesting shit. Only problem is that there is absolutely NO way the fight could realistically take place there. Alastor is stuck in hell, and has no way to get out. Yes there are ways to leave hell, Lucifer and I.M.P. have shown this but alastor has no way to do so. Oogie meanwhile can’t go to hell, and even if he does go to hell after he dies, well then he just doesn’t have his shit cause they’re in halloween town.
-You act like this issue doesn't apply to every fucking Alastor MU. Have you heard of this new concept DB totally hasn't done before called creative goddamn liberties?
So this would have to take place in a random place where oogie wouldn’t get his traps, so what are we left with? A sack of bugs that can punch, grow in size, and throw pumpkins. Riving I know. And that kaiju fight everyone talks about I doubt would even happen.
-If your big deal is that Oogie Boogie doesn't directly have reality warping magic I think you're surely mistaken https://youtu.be/p2aGTiIjFqk?si=U-Rw_MO7Q6M7TxLm I know it's a fucking commercial before you say anything but DB literally used GBA games for Scooby Doo so don't act like that. Idk how to describe it what I'm trying to say but you can bullshit up Oogie Boogie's abilities since FUCKING DB HAS DONE IT FOR THE SAKE OF ANIMATION POTENTIAL!!!!
Yes, they can grow in size, but Al almost never does. He did so to threaten vox, and against the loan sharks to prove a point. You want to know what he would do? Summon a fuck load of tenticals to just rip oogie apart. Which brings me to the next point.
-Oh yeah, Alastor totally wouldn't do that and want you said is true and accurate based off one fucking scene. And the debate totally reflects how the fight would go down. Omniman vs Homelander & SF Aquaman vs SpongeBob totally don't show that AP isn't affected by the debate.
Debate: So the numbers for alastor are very skewed but lets go ahead and use his lowest end, Town Level and Hypersonic. Keep in mind this is Alastors absolute lowest end. Oogie on the other hand is…Wall Level and Superhuman. No matter what, Alastor fucking SLAUGHTERS. Now I have heard that this includes Kingdom Hearts Oogie, so lets look at that. For this lets use Alastor's absolute highest end and say that it’s true. It’s not but lets say it is just this one time: Planet and 4000c (MFTL+). Anyway oogie is Multi and IMM in speed. No matter what, it’s a complete stomp with the only “““Debate””” being if oogie would get kingdom hearts scaling.
-Why are you even bringing this up? It's a matter of person if a stomp affects their enjoyment of a MU. This isn't some objective issue so what was the point other than you not having anything original to say?
In conclusion I hope someone will actually fucking read this shit instead of ignoring it and making another pointless Oogielastor debunk. Bye

2024.05.14 02:52 Maleficent-Elk-5104 I've got a question that probably seems silly to anyone experienced in the topic.

So i need new shocks because mine are very old and i want to restore my mountain bike. Does the stanchion diameter matter or have any bearing on the frame of the bycicle, or is it just personal taste?
the reason i ask, is i'm looking at the same brand shocks that were on the bike, but the offsets, mm distance travel and stanchion diameter are all different. From the diagram i've seen, none of these actually pertain to where the shocks make contact with the bike frame, is this a correct way of thinking, or am I going about it wrong?
Bike model is a Specialized RockHopper Comp 29" with Rockshox 100mm travel and 28mm Stanchion diameter. The ones i wanted to buy are beyond 100mm travel and 38mm stanchion diameter. Will they still fit my frame? (The shocks are still made by Rockshox)

So I played the Box Art dynasty, House Renart. Here is my playthrough so far, in the form of AAR Chronicle.
House Renart: \"As Clever as a Fox\"

Duke Otger 'the Brute' of Lausitz

It's him, John Crusader-Kings-3
Otger I Renart (6 March 1040 - 28 February 1101) was the count of Spreewall and the Duke of Lausitz, and the founder of the Renart dynasty. A dastardly count, he pursued any way to gain power in the lands of the Saxons.
Otger was known to be a stubborn and yet brave man, with a vengeful streak. This was due to the fact that his brother was killed by Jakob Barenburg of Lubsko when he was a mere infant. Otger grew up under the tutelage of his mother, becoming a well read warrior in his own right.
At the age of 16, he fell in love with Hersent Louve, a minor noble lady within his court, and they married. They would have a daughter who would eventually marry Edgar Wessex. For a while, peace remained in Lausitz, but Otger, the wily fox, would see to it that he would move things to get revenge on Jakob Barenburg.
15 September, 1066, Otger went to war with the County of Wittenberg, held by Count Thimo, to press a claim over the castle and lands there. He would defeat Count Thimo at the Battle of Wittenberg in 21 February of 1067, and in May became the ruler of Wittenburg.
On 28 July 1067, his eldest son Otger was born. In September, Count Jakob Barenburg would be poisoned on the 15th of December, 1067, and for many generations his death was seen as mysterious. Recent historical opinion, however, blames Otger I for the death.
The following year, Otger went to war with Jakob Barenburg’s daughter, Brigida, who was seeing instability in her realm following the untimely death with her father. Otger’s forces defeated Brigida at the Battle of Lubsko, but two years of siege meant minor skirmishes, and Otger would only gain victory in August of 1070 AD.
Otger was a participant in defending the realm Duke Theoderic of Angria who was fighting off his own counts in 1076. Otger would lose the battle of Lüneburg against Countess Hedwig of Göttingen that year, but Duke Theoderic successfully put down his vassals. It was around that time that Otger was being called “the Brute” by many of his vassals for his heavy handed way of doing things, as well as his strong physique. The nickname would stick.
Another war for the Count of Gorlitz in 1077-1078 led Otger to acquiring another castle. Him and his knights would defeat the count outside of Gorlitz and overtook the fortress. With many of the castles and lands under his grasp, Otger began to plot to become the duke of Lausitz.
Duke Konrad of Lausitz was relatively young when he came to the throne. In a position of weakness, Otger declared himself the rightful duke of the land of Lausitz. The armies of Count Otger moved towards Juterborg in the winter of 1084. The young Duke Konrad did not give up his throne so easily. Otger commanded the armies, backed by the Duke of Carinthia and the Duke of Angria, whom he created alliance with.
Otger commanded and won the battle of Görlitz against Count Konrad of Jüterbog on the 31st of July, 1084. He was actually outnumbered during this fight in a battle of 1000 against 1500. He used the positioning of the hills outside of the city to his advantage. Konrad would be captured later by the Duke of Carinthia in August of 1085, and would surrender. Otger would be declared the Duke of Lausitz.
Not even a year later, Konrad rebelled against Otger, seeking to reclaim his power as Duke. The two had small engagements in 1086, most notably the Battle of Gommern in January of 1087. Otger pursued the fleeing Konrad into the spring and would capture him at the Battle of Gorlitz. There, Konrad would be imprisoned, and had his lands revoked.
On the 25th of October, 1090, Duke Otger came to the aid of his ally King William II ‘the Red’ of England after King Philippe of France went to reclaim Normandy. This would see a defeat for Otger and William the Red. Normandy fell back into French control.
In 1091, Otger became the ruler of the Duchy of Istria after it’s previous Duke was excommunicated. The title was given to him by Emperor Heinrich V. A similar situation happened in 1096 with the Duchy of Hesse, which was given to Otger as well.
13 March, 1098, Otger came to Duke Hendrik's defense against Duca Tribale Aleardo's dethronement war. Duke Hendrik would manage to fend of Aleardo’s forces by himself, however, so Otger’s participation was not needed.
The last three years of Otger’s reign was relatively peaceful. He hosted a grand wedding for his son Christopher who married into Austria’s Babenburg family. Otger would pass away on the 28th of February, 1101, from old age. His primary title of Lausitz would pass onto his son Otger, while the Duchy of Istria went to his son Ludwig and Hesse went to his son Christopher.

King Otger of Poland

Guy had a massive drinking problem and no sons.
King Otger (July 28, 1067 - July 6th, 1124) was Duke of Lausitz in 1101, and the King of Poland from 1116, until his death in 1124.
In life, Otger was a calm, humble, and zealous man whose only ambition in life was, at first, to rule the Duchy of Lausitz relatively peacefully. Unlike his vengeful father, Otger made a point to not make many enemies. In fact, he was quite good with making friends and even allies in clutch.
He was born on July 28th, 1067 to his father Count Otger and his mother Countess Hersent. He was their second child, and the oldest of his brothers. His upbringing was relatively quiet, with his father Otger having a hands-on approach to his education.
In 1083, he would marry a minor noble from Poland, named Olga. She would, however, die in childbirth with his firstborn daughter Geilana in 1087. This would lead Otger to grow distant with his eldest daughter, who he would eventually disinherit. This was also the point when Otger would begin his horrible habit of alcoholism to cope with his misery. The same year, he made a political alliance with Duchess Gertrude, another minor noble, from Austria.
In 1101, Otger would ascend to the throne of Lausitz (as Otger II) while his brothers became dukes of Istria and Hesse. He would ally with them to secure their places as the dukes over those lands. He would travel on pilgrimage in 1104 as a sign of his piety. He arrived in Colonge on the 25th of April where he dedicated his life to ruling in the Christian ways.
During this, King Casimir of Poland was excommunicated by the Pope for his life of sin. A massive civil war overtook the Polish countryside, dragging German dukes into the conflict. Polish soldiers would raid the Duchy of Lausitz while Otger II was on his pilgrimage. When he returned, he was furious to see what had happened to his lands. He appealed to Pope Urbanus II in hopes that he could get compensation to rebuild some of his lands.
Instead, Pope Urbanus II saw the pious character of Otger, and, knowing he was bordering the Polish lands, offered him the opportunity to step in during the civil war as an intercessor to bring peace and dispose of King Casimir. Otger at first refused this role, believing it was not his place. However, as the civil war dragged on, more and more of Poland grew into turmoil. According to The Renalt Chronicle Otger “prayed to God for resolution” in Poland in 1114, but nothing came.
In the same year, Queen Gertrude would die in her sleep. Otger had been struggling to get a male heir all of his life. Stricken with the grief of his wife dying, and the continuous raids in his lands, Otger became flagellant in order to cope with the stress. Otger believed he was punished by God for his reluctance to act in Poland. Thus, in his zealous nature, he finally rallied his small forces and rode into the southern mountains of Silesia in Janary of 1115, to do the “right” thing.
Quick, while he's distracted, invade him!
King Casimir was far too distracted by an invasion to the east of him by the Russians to bother with the small forces of Duke Otger that was reported to him. He was busy fighting his brother Witosz Piast for the throne as well. Otger joined Richard Babenburg, Duke of Austria, in Silesia and then marched north into Greater Poland. Many of the castles were occupied by Czibor Piast’s soldiers and they quickly fell to Otger and Richard’s forces as they besieged them.
The armies of Witosz were defeated by Casimir in the spring of 1116, where he was imprisoned by his brother. Casimir marched back west towards the armies of Otger and Richard who were driving way the rest of the rebel forces. The rebels disbanded, which gave Otger the opportunity to take further Silesian castles. Eventually, come the late summer of 1116, Duke Otger and King Casimir met each other at Katowice.
The Battle of Katowice was a long engagement, taking several weeks in the early fall of the year. Otger was reported to have an army of 1500 men, while Casimir had an army of 1700 men. It was believed that, at first, Casimir with his slight numerical advantage would win. However, the Duke of Austria came from the south later into the engagement and swayed the tide. Casimir would flee the battle, defeated.
Duke Austria followed him further east to Krakow and laid siege to the city. The Saxon forces of Otger would break through the city gates, storm it, and captured King Casimir. The bishop of the city oversaw the transfer of the crown to Duke Otger.
Thus, on the 16th of December, 1116, Duke Otger Renart would be crowned King of Poland. During the coronation ceremony, he would meet the beautiful Weslikan of Livonia, to become his third wife.
It would not be long, however, until the peace would be abrupt. The nobles of Poland were not fond of a new Saxon king over their lands. They rebelled against King Otger in November of 1117, trying to place Duke Witosz Piast onto the throne. The irony was that Witosz was not in favor of this, as he became good friends with Otger and supported his kingship.
Two years of rebellion would eventually see the rebels imprisoned by King Otger in December of 1119, who had eventually begun to be led by the former King Casimir again. Casimir and the disloyal vassals had their lands stripped from them and were executed for their rebellion.
Duchess Bożena of Mazovia began a war of liberation in 1121, during the beginning of the First Crusade. This would only lead to a white peace two years later in 1123, however.
Unfortunately for Otger, his life of drinking would eventually catch up to him. In 1124, as his forces were mustering in preparation for the First Crusade, he died of liver failure in his tent. Otger had failed to have a son with Queen Weslikan, and therefore, the realm and his duchies were split between his four daughters: Imma, Bia, Beatrix, and Wienke.
Imma Renalt would succeed him to the throne in 1124, though her reign would not prove a long one…

Queen Imma of Poland

Imma and her ragtag younger sisters got all their dad's lands. Wouldn't fare as they, nor I, expected it.
Imma Renart (August 17, 1090 - August 7, 1124) was Queen of Poland from July 6th of 1124 to August 7th of 1124. She would be queen only for 32 days. Her reign is often forgotten in many histories, as it was overshadowed by her son Oldrik.
Imma Renart was an ambitious and just woman, with much compassion. She was also known for her natural beauty thanks to her mother Gertrude. She inherited much of her father’s attitude on ruling, and desired to bring peace to Poland when she became queen. With the partitioning of her father’s many duchies, she received Greater Poland while her sisters gained Lausitz and the Silesian lands.
When she ascended the throne, her younger sister Bia was staging a rebellion to become Queen of Poland herself. Imma at the time was pregnant and was in a period of great stress. According to the Renartnomicron, she was heart-stricken when her spymaster suggested killing her sister. From the stress of the rising rebellion, her pregnancy, her weakened heart (due to her drinking habits), and the spymaster’s suggestion, she suddenly died from a heart attack on August 7th, 1124. The death was completely unexpected.
Her only son, Oldrik, who was 14 at the time, was off hunting when the news of his mother’s death came. He was stricken with grief. But little time was left for him, as he would now have to be king…

King Oldrik 'the Worthy' of Poland and Pomerania

I didn't expect to play YOU so early!
Oldrik Renart (June 21, 1110 - July 23 1177) became King of Poland on August 7th, 1124 after the sudden death of his mother. An intelligent and handsome man, he is looked back as a good king to the Polish people to this day, and the people of Poland were happy during his rule. He was also known for being a pious king, converting the pagans of Pomerania to the Christian faith. This was commemorated with the building of a great cathedral in Garwolin, which was dedicated in his honor. Another part of his reign was the Conversion of Pomerania, in which he crusaded against the northern pagans.
Oldrick was also known for many of his building projects, particularly within Krakow and Warsaw. Before his rule, Poland was seen as a backwards land to the western Europeans, as it was incredibly undeveloped, its people lived in poverty, and sickness would avail across it. Thanks to Oldrik, many hospices, churches, and castles were built which brought great wealth and prosperity to the realm.
In particular, Oldrik noticed how strategic the lands of Warsaw were. At first it was merely a small village. However, during his reign, he built a mighty castle there and it would soon develop into a strategic city.
On the 7th of August of 1124, Oldrick, then 14 years old, was off hunting when his pregnant mother died of a sudden heart attack, to the shock of everyone in the court. The physicians tried to revive her, but to no avail. The young boy was crowned the King of Poland when he returned to Krakow the same week, though he was frightened of what had just happened. Talks of rebellion stirred within the nobles, particularly his aunt Bia, who was seeking to claim the throne of Poland for herself.
Which is why Oldrik took a strategic gamble and married his aunt Bia, the duchess of Lausitz, in 1126 when he became a man. She would bear a majority of his children, and the marriage was seen as happy, though they were about 6 years apart in age. However, this would prove an important alliance, as the former friend of King Otger, Prince Witosz Piast, would betray the family and sought to take the throne of Poland for himself.
November 8th of that year Prince Witosz staged his rebellion against the young Oldrik Renart. Historians view this as the “last hurrah” for the House of Piast. Witosz had the support of the remaining Polish nobility while Oldrik was supported by the loyal German counts under his rule in northern Germany.
Witosz was reported to have claimed the former King Otger was a “temporary” monarch set by the Pope, but that it was proper time for the Piasts to take over the throne. King Oldrik disputed this, asserting that it was the will of God, and his divine task, to rule the Polish people. Oldrik took to learning the Polish tongue and dressing himself in traditional Polish noble clothing to assert his place to the people of his realm.
The civil war started by Witosz Piast lasted two years, but he saw his end at the fields outside of Warsaw when he would be captured on the 12th of February, 1128, by Oldrik’s army. The Treaty of Warsaw had Witosz give up his claims to the throne of Poland. Oldrik traveled to meet the prince a few days later. Oldrik, who had heard Witosz slander the name of his grandfather and murder one of his kinsmen, reportedly spoke only a few words to his grandfather’s former “friend.” Witosz would be executed by beheading for his treachery, thus ending the Piast dynasty’s rule over Poland for good.
When he rode toward the village of Warsaw with his host, he was greeted by the peasantry who declared him “worthy of the crown of Poland” and applauded him. Thus he gained his historical moniker. King Oldrik from then on took interest in the village, and ordered a castle built on the field of which Witosz was defeated.
In the following years, Oldrik would fall in love with his step-grandmother Weslikan, and would find himself having a bastard son named Ulinniks with her in 1131. He hid the existence of this boy for years until he became a court chronicler. He was responsible for the additions of the reign of Oldrik in the Renaltnomicron. He would have another son, Glande, with her, to which he also hid his existence.
He also began to love Queen Bia, his wife, and had many children with her during this time. Bia would also seduce her husband and would often control how he ruled, gaining her the moniker “the Enchantress” for her beauty and cunning.
In 1137, the duke of Moravia, Wlost Dunin, murdered Oldrik’s daughter Bia. He would be excommunicated for this act, and then was imprisoned. His titles were taken and he was sent into exile, never to be seen again. King Oldrik would take special care of the town of Warsaw, which he continued to develop. In the same year, Oldrik went to war with Duke Kasper II of Nordmark (a notable pagan prince in Pomerania) to reclaim the duchy of Greater Poland. The war went on until 1140, where Duke Kasper would be defeated, and his lands taken.
Now King Oldrik, though he was not righteous in his acts of adultery, he still believed himself to be a “King David” of his day. He believed he was a man after God’s own heart. He sought to destroy the pagans to his north, who had a great idol in Arkona and worshiped there. This would begin what was known as the Christianization of Pomerania, who allied with the Teutonic Knights who were gifted land in Prussia.
29 November, 1149 was the day that King Oldrik moved against Duke Kasper II of Nordmark once again, this time with the backing of the Teutonic Knights. The war would end on the 5th of May, 1153 with Kasper seeing defeat and dethronement, losing the Duchy of Veletia and being forced to convert, and then was exiled. King Oldrik declared himself King of the Pomeranians, and in an act of change, he traveled to Arkona, to the island of Rana, and ordered the idol to Svetovit torn down.
Based.
In the spring of the next year, 1154, Countess Marketa of Pomerania was invaded by the Teutonic knights and King Oldrik, and was forced to convert and submit herself to the rule of King Oldrik.
Not every pagan ruler took kindly to the destruction of the idol at Rana. Count Zbigniew of Pomerania had Queen Bia murdered in October of 1155 as an act of defiance, and declared it was for the glory of Svetovit. He then openly rebelled with the other pagan counts in November, seeking to dethrone Oldrik as King of Pomerania. Once again the Teutonic Knights came to the aid of Oldrik, and together the Polish forces and Teutons were enamored in a religious war for the fate of the pagans.
King Oldrik riding in battle against the remaining pagan counts.
The war lasted until January of 1158. Zbigniew would be captured for his treachery against the queen in the county of Radom by the Teutonic knights. Zbigniew would be executed for the murder of Queen Bia, and his lands revoked. The Pomeranian lands were granted to Oldrik’s eldest son, Miesko, who was thought to be in line for being king.
In 1159, King Oldrik joined the crusade against Zaphoriza against the Tengrist pagans. He would lose the Battle of Tor, (which saw him critically injured and nearly die, though he pulled through), though it would ultimately be a victory for the crusaders, and Oldrik’s son in law, Pawel Renalt, would be made the crusader king over the lands.
The 9th May, 1166, marked the last of the pagans of Pomerania defeated, Count Bedrich, of Santok. The polish armies raided Santok and would capture Count Bedrich, who would be converted to Christianity and forced to submit to the authority of King Oldrik that following August. Legend has it that the Cathedral of Garwolin’s final stone was laid on the day Count Bedrich converted, leading to the end of Slavic paganism in the Baltics and Poland.
Legends arose about the cathedral, and Oldrik’s apparent nature in being a holy warrior against the northern pagans. Stories arose about him committing miracles against the pagans. As the chronicler Ulliniks wrote of the legend: “Oldrik devoted himself to God and acted entirely in his will. Every Christian wandered the land with the name ‘Oldrik’ on their lips, telling tales of constant holy happenings in his name. Here it is written in Krakow, on the 20th of August in the Year of our Lord 1173.”
He continued. “The roads of the faithful were accosted by the godless, and with a blessed blade Oldrik did chase them away. But yet wild beasts and serpents would still wander onto the path and do injury to the faithful, so Oldrik did pull out his trumpet and charm God’s creations out the lands.”
“King Oldrik was visited by God who directly spoke to him about the nature of Creation and the beauty of finite life. He emerged from this legendary confrontation a changed man, at peace with the fleeting nature of life and the peace of heaven.”
In some sense, this was true. Oldrik would seize his adulterous ways after the defeat of the pagans, seeking a pious life. In his elder years, he commissioned the building of a palace in Krakow and continued to develop Warsaw, eventually seeing it become an important, strategic city in the wake of further wars to come. It would also mark the end of the Piasts, and cement the rule of the Renart dynasty as the rulers of Poland.
On the 23rd of July, 1177, King Oldrik would die in his sleep, his old age finally getting to him. In his will, he marked his third eldest son, Wielslaw, to be his heir, instead of his oldest son Miesko. To Miesko instead he was given the Kingdom of Pomerania to rule. Thus the lands would be partitioned.
Thus far, House Renart has control over the Kingdoms of Poland, Pomerania, and Zaphoriza.
Should we continue this save and see what other shenanigans I get into as Poland? Didn't expect to get into Poland but here I am...

2024.05.14 01:00 hereliesLydia Why Firefly ≠ Titania (Spoilers for 2.3 relic lore descriptions)

DISCLAIMER: This theory uses text from the leaked 2.3 relics, Firefly's signature light cone, the current Glamoth planar relics, and relevant lines from dialogue in the story. I'll do my best to cite my sources for everything!
Let's get down to business! Who, or what, is Titania exactly?
According to both planar relics, she's the "Empress". That's about the only thing they agree on though, because the sphere describes her as a benevolent ruler who brought civilization to Glamoth's outer colonies, while the rope actually tells us that she's got no power (but I think they mean political power, since it also claims she telepathically commanded the Iron Cavalry and that seems kinda powerful), and that the ruling council created her in response to the Swarm's attack. Here's a longer excerpt from the rope's description:
"In the dreams that these warriors are woven into, the sole meaning of their existence is to guard Titania and her 'empire'. In their short lives, they studied, fought, received the Empress' commands, faced the enemy fearlessly, and died with honor."
It's pretty damning evidence that "empire" is written in quotation marks like this in most of these relics, and I've got theories about what kind of state Glamoth was (cough cough. Interstellar colonizers, cough), but that's another discussion. What matters here is that Titania definitely isn't a real Empress. Maybe she's a puppet ruler, or a symbol but not a person, or even some kind of war tactic AI skynet situation to direct troops, or whatever floats your boat.
I don't think she's Firefly, though. IMO it'd be a little tacky to get another identity reveal after Sam, but I wouldn't be making this post if I didn't have a stronger argument than that. Before 2.2, there were a lot of theories about her identity as Sam, the Stellaron Hunter... specifically theories that wanted to separate that identity from "Firefly", either by claiming Sam might be an AI or a second personality, or by claiming that Firefly is an ordinary girl (or Titania) who found the armor and decided to wear it. Lemme go over my counterarguments for both these points, and then I'll get to my own theory.
After her first "death" to the meme, Black Swan helps us investigate what Firefly was doing in the hotel, and a certain line of dialogue raised many questions. To quote:
Firefly: "Let's get going..."
(Here Black Swan proposes that she's with another person)
Firefly: "Why did you...!? This isn't what we agreed on..."
(Here Black Swan proposes that somebody betrayed her)
Firefly: "Mecha...!? Why..."
(Here Black Swan points out it's weird of her to say 'mecha')
Thing is, Black Swan's memory magic never shows us this second person, so we can only assume she's talking to the armor, right? Except... we've never seen her and Sam in the same place together. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's actually pretty big proof here. When she transforms into Sam, or back out of Firefly, the armor just appears and disappears in a bunch of flames. Of course it's probably that her transforming device is the reason why, but even without it there's a line in Genshin that could explain this too. In one of the Traveler's profile voicelines, Paimon confirms that weapons and personal items simply appearing out of nowhere is a regular thing that happens in-universe, and it's likely HSR uses this same rule. I don't think there's any hard evidence to suggest the armor even exists physically until she uses her transforming device, so we can rule out this mystery person being Sam.
IMO, it was probably more like an upset reaction to somebody else who brought up the 'mecha' thing first. Maybe something like this:
???: "Sorry Firefly, you can't go off-script. You have to activate your mecha."
Firefly: "Mecha...!? Why..."
It could've been Silver Wolf on the phone, or maybe even Elio, but it doesn't really matter.
Another thing I've seen people argue is that her personality when we first meet Firefly in Golden Hour just doesn't match up with Sam. Voicelines from the Stellaron Hunters, dialogue from SW visiting the Express, and one of Blade's story chapters all describe him as the ruthless and cold-blooded muscle of the group, which is very different from the sweetheart tour guide we met. I think people can't understand how these two versions of her coexist, but they're not mutually exclusive at all. What if Sam's efficiency is because she dislikes being a weapon, and wants to get her jobs over with quickly? What if her mission in Penacony is Firefly's first chance to actually explore herself as "Firefly", without her scripts asking her to cause destruction? It's not like she's living a double life, more like she's still in the process of growing into her actual self. Maybe texting us stickers from Blade's phone was a baby step for her to experiment, since TB hadn't met Sam yet and she could be less serious, or maybe her armor's fingers have trouble typing, who even knows?? I think the "inconsistencies" in her behavior can be explained pretty easily once you realize she's still figuring herself out, y'know?
There's also tons of dialogue before and after her reveal that implies she's pretty familiar with combat, too. Her accurate description of Sampo is the obvious one (that man is NOT 5'9 though), but she also mentions that a baseball bat isn't an efficient weapon, and later in the story if you picked the Hanu trial for the auditions thing, she complains about not having her armor, brings up that it'll be hard for her to let go of the bazooka, and compares Hanu's rocket launcher to something called the "Soaring Locust II" (some kind of weapon attachment for her armor maybe?), so it's pretty clear that she's not a stranger to fighting. I don't think she's just some ordinary girl who picked up the mecha.
Finally, there's an inconsistency between her and Sam when talking about dreams. On the balcony, Firefly describes her dream about the scorched earth and the sapling, while Sam outright says he was "born without the ability to 'dream'." Thanks to her upcoming light cone, we've got an answer to this problem:
"Dreams remained too distant for her, as she gazed into the infinite darkness. Even as she sensed her consciousness slipping away, her mind replayed the same lingering memories over and over again..."
I think the simplest solution is that Firefly's 'dream' was a metaphor to explain her wish to the Trailblazer, like a visualization to help her and others understand those feelings. The light cone kinda implies she doesn't dream at all, instead she relives her memories from being in the Glamoth military. The rest of that paragraph goes on to describe a Swarm attack and her fellow Cavalryman dying around her without anybody to honor their sacrifice, which is a memory she'd only have if she fought alongside them.
So dreaming isn't an issue anymore, and her two personalities aren't mutually exclusive, and she wasn't talking to her armor in the hotel. But I hear you, none of that really proves she isn't Titania, right? Because at least the Empress has the same origin as the Iron Cavalry pilots... And that's a good point, but I've got evidence against it too.
According to Firefly's drip marketing, she was "Born as a weapon", and is "afflicted with the agony of Entropy Loss Syndrome due to genetic modification.", both of which line up perfectly with our understanding of the Cavalry pilots so far. One leaked relic says "Identical-looking warriors were birthed from the incubators", the rope says "the ruling council threw down the gauntlet and resolved to alter the essence of humanity", and even Firefly herself says "[Sam] is the cradle of my vitality, and the meaning of my birth." when asked about it in Dreamflux Reef. These statements only make sense if Firefly is one of these lab-grown humans, and literally born to pilot her armor.
If you're still not convinced, that line about Entropy Loss gives us another clue: since it's due to genetic modification, that means her "altered essence" is what causes it, so how exactly is she different from a regular human? Another leaked relic says "The armor deeply synchronized its sensory organs with that of the pilot", which is very weird phrasing until you remember that Welt told us Sam has superhuman perception after we got SW's message. That ability kinda contradicts everything Firefly said about her condition, so what if her genetic modifications are meant for that "synchronization"? Maybe it's supposed to increase combat effectiveness with some kind of symbiotic relationship between her and the armor? It definitely plays into more mecha anime tropes (NGE comes to mind), which she's already got a crazy amount of, and might even explain why she's naked while wearing her armor.
When she calls Sam the "cradle of [her] vitality", she means it's literally the only way she can guarantee her Entropy Loss won't flare up and cause her to dissociate. The armor keeps her grounded and conscious, even though it might be extremely painful to use it, given how Adin Rudd in the English dub almost seems to grunt out his lines, and how her kit and the boss' kit both include HP-draining mechanics. This is also why she appreciates the Dreamscape so much, as she told us in her secret balcony spot that she's able to "listen, and see, and touch, and think, and understand whatever I want with my body", as opposed to doing these things with Sam instead. Her cutscene with Blade suggests that it's not impossible for her to exit the armor, but I'm guessing she can't do this for long stretches of time, or that it comes with a risk of having her Entropy Loss worsen. The "icy medical cabin" she mentioned turned out to be Sam, after all.
This one's a bit more subjective, but I'll die on this hill so I might as well include it as a final argument. I honestly think her narrative themes benefit more if she's a regular Iron Cavalryman than if she's Titania. Her story is about an experimental soldier born to be a weapon, living only to kill bugs by the orders of a fake Empress she swore loyalty to, and never having a chance to experience life as a regular young girl. It's about recovering from war trauma, overcoming a medical condition and physical disability, and finally discovering an identity for herself instead of being defined by her use to other people. I'm so in love with this character concept, and while I plan to bankrupt myself over this girl no matter what direction Hoyo picks, I've got my fingers crossed that I'm right about her because it would be so amazing to see that story come to life about a character who stole my heart like this. ^w^
In conclusion? Firefly ≠ Titania, and I believe it's a more cohesive, impactful, and beautiful story if she's a soldier instead of an Empress.
Thank you for reading!
P.S. I'd love to hear anybody's thoughts in the comments, whether they agree with some of my points, or if they've got arguments of their own! Just remember to be civil, because at the end of the day we're all Firefly enjoyers and everybody's ideas are valid until we get more official information about her! :D

2024.05.14 00:58 Maall2390 1989 part 2-reviewed by a man who is starting to warm to Taylor

Part 1 available here: https://www.reddit.com/TaylorSwift/comments/1cqk2h7/1989_part_1reviewed_by_a_man_who_isnt_really_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=post_embed&utm_term=1&utm_content=1
As promised guys, I will restart my listen along as well as delivering my unbiased views towards the album 1989 once again. I really appreciated the insight that all of you gave me into the first three songs (especially u/morgangrimestho in Blank Space). Here we go, Out Of The Woods.
  1. Out Of The Woods
This song opens with a looped 'oh-oh-oh', which once again gives an abrupt feel to the start, and therefore an instant hook (to be honest though, it kind of put me off at the start). Now I don't use this word a lot, but the only way I can define this song, is as 'funky'. The backing track and what I think is an 808 (for those who aren't music nerds like me, that's a drum machine) makes the most 80s sound yet, Taylor's voice also adds to this throughout the first verse. The chorus is obviously very catchy, and something I have noticed throughout the previous songs is that I am really entranced by the points where she almost raises her voice, gets louder and higher, moves into head voice. Verse 2 is similar. However, there is a very nice high note on 'you were looking at me'. Last chorus is amazing. Overall, a good, good song.
Backing:8/10(would have been 9 if not for the start)
Vocals:8/10
Lyrics:6/10
  1. All You Had To Do Was Stay
When I saw the song title, I was NOT expecting a major key song. I was expecting melancholy, much like All Too Well. However, I was greeted by an upbeat track which made me want to find out more. The 'Stay' which is floated over the top is a nice addition. However, in contrast with all of the previous songs, it does not sound like something out of the 80s, and much more like a stadium filler from the 2010s, which is not necessarily a good thing. However, the unexpected happiness of the song is, well, unexpected. Mixed review here, first song on the album which is only 'average'. This is not going on my playlist.
Backing:5/10(not an 80s sound)
Vocals:6/10
Lyrics:5/10
  1. Shake It Off
A classic that, literally, everyone knows. (Sidenote: it appears everyone but Taylor knows it, as shown on the Tonight Show). Very catchy opening drum sequence. You can certainly make comparisons here between Blank Space and this, as both attack the press for contradicting each other and creating false rumors (That's what people say mm mm). Something that is also different to the other songs is the introduction of brass, which is, almost, Bruce Springsteen-esque. This and Blank Space completely change Taylor's focus over to the pop world. This track has definitely made me 'shake off' All You Had To Do Was Stay, and I am 'getting down to this sick beat'. That was quite literally the worst joke I have ever made but oh well. (Also, does she ever introduce her songs with 'you could be getting down to this sick beat'? I feel like that would be a Taylor thing to do, and pretty cool as well). Anyway, brilliant descant, similar to Style, and it brings a great song to an end. Well recovered, Taylor.
Backing:9/10(extra credit for the Bruce Springsteen 80s style)
Vocals:8.5/10(almost 9)
Lyrics:7/10
Anyway, there it is, although a bit late, and I will be back again tomorrow for part 3.
I am going to the WONDERLAND of sleep now.
I actually can't stop with the taylor references please help.

2024.05.13 23:34 In_Yellow_Clad Stubbornness and Spite

I remember that day as though it were only yesterday. My species, the rulers of a vast and mighty interstellar empire, had discovered a primitive species tucked away in a remote corner of our galaxy. Naturally, we were excited to discover them, for a new species on the galactic stage could potentially bring with them many exciting new developments to keep us all entertained for a few millennia.
Our survey ships, vessels of unparalleled stealth and subtlety, flocked to the single star system with its four gas giants, a boon for any developing species, and set up shop in orbit of their homeworld. We were all so eager to see what works of wondrous art and civility they had created, and instead we watched as a planet spanning war erupted. Entire nations were consumed, millions died within the first few weeks and we were left horrified by what we saw.
Yet by our own rules we were powerless to intervene, if it was their destiny to eradicate themselves, then that is what would happen. We expected this war to end in nuclear annihilation, for we had detected vast nuclear arsenals the moment we entered orbit of that glittering blue jewel in the dark.
Yet no such cataclysm came, instead, one by one tensions cooled, warriors dropped their primitive slug throwers and went home, seeking the comfort and peace of familiar and safe surroundings. A new government was formed, a unifying body that kept the peace for the next five hundred years to the best of its ability. Yet even then conflict still raged in the far flung places of the world, and we were left to wonder…
What would happen when they leave their world?
The question terrified us to such a degree that when it became clear they were making concerted efforts to leave their world and venture out into the stars, we panicked. A species as violent towards itself as they are would surely take one look at the galaxy and its many peoples and attempt to see them struck down. Some amongst the ruling body were of the mind that such a primitive and savage species was little more than animals that deserved to be put down.
Unfortunately, they were the most influential faction of our esteemed government. So when the vote was passed for the extermination of the species, the most the rest of us could try was to make it as quick and painless a death as possible. To be kind. But yet again, the most powerful of us decided that wasn’t good enough. They said that such savagery be met in kind, and so a terrible weapon was developed.
Fear and an overinflated sense of superiority drove us towards our ultimate shame.
The Affliction was released upon their homeworld, and any intrasolar outposts that we found were subsequently wiped from existence with lightning fast attacks from weapons of mass destruction. The affliction targeted everything from birth rates to skin growth, causing patches of necrosis to form externally and internally, all while heightening nerve responses. Our leaders wanted them to suffer for their savagery. While the powerful patted themselves on the back for their valiant defense of the galaxy from a potential threat, the rest of us were left to worry, to ponder our failings and hope against hope that we could be forgiven for our ineffectual protests against this course of action.
Another five hundred years passed and the galaxy forgot all about the now extinct species, focusing instead on their own problems and several other primitive races we had discovered. But something had not forgotten us, something had lurked in the darkness and waited till the perfect moment to strike.
At first the only knowledge we had of this entity was the brief contacts our sensor nets had with some strange anomaly. We shrugged it off as little more than a mere glitch, yet over time some of us began to see a pattern as the contacts began to linger for longer periods of time before vanishing.
It was far too late to do anything, as we would soon discover, as our outer colonies came under sudden attack from an unknown enemy. An unstoppable force that seemed to sweep over our defenses with ease. Yet we received no reports of the world being razed, instead the enemy was content to occupy the world and move on, keeping the civilian populace calm and cooperative.
Of course that didn’t mean we wouldn’t fight them, just because they were being civil towards our civilians didn’t make them any less our enemy. And so we mobilized, preparing our defenses as best we could and attempting to deny the enemy strategic resources as well. But as we soon learned, our forces were outmatched even in space.
I remember when I first saw them, having been assigned to a defense post on the planet Dingalea. A tropical resort world, with vast oceans and many pristine beaches. It was a tactically unsound planet to invade, yet this foe was clearly interested in all our worlds, not just the strategically important ones. We figured it was meant to force us to commit the bulk of our forces to liberation efforts, spreading our armies and fleets thin in an attempt to reclaim every planet.
I had taken position in a bunker on a cliff overlooking one of the more popular beaches when we heard a booming sound from the sky. Our eyes turned heavensward, and I beheld what appeared to be spears of metal rain from above. They crashed down into the oceans many yektra (miles) away, yet so massive they were that we all could easily see the detailing upon their exteriors.
From where I was stationed I could only see four of them, but as I would learn later, four was all they would need for the coming battle upon our beach. Granted we had set up defensive positions further inland, but the enemy seemed content to land out at sea which led us to assume that they were mostly aquatic based. How wrong we were.
An aperture opened wide upon each of the spears and from them water based vehicles emerged, elongated and rectangular in form, bouncing over the waves as they fanned out and made for shore. We watched and waited, my gripping hands clutching all the more firmly at my plasma pulse rifle. Heavy emplacements warmed up with a whine of charging power packs, the large turrets turning to face our foe. New vehicles joined the first models, these ones clearly armored assault vehicles of a type that was unfamiliar to us, as so much about our enemy was at the time. They kept a staggered and wide formation with the other vehicles, even as air superiority fighter craft started to fill the sky. I felt something twist in my thorax, a pit of fear threatening to swallow me whole.
As I lowered my eye to the scope of my rifle, I watched as the ring around its edge shifted from red to purple, indicating my target was in firing range. The call to open fire rang out from the fortifications around me and all twelve of the hells was visited upon our foe. Plasma and beams of energy lanced out from our lines, boiling the waters and leaving burn marks upon the metal hulls that approached. Artillery began to pound, hoping to inflict more destructive results upon the invaders.
They succeeded in scoring direct hits on a few of the craft, sending burning wreckage to the bottom of the sea, but the rest simply continued on, unfazed by the death and destruction around them.
The craft reached the beach and ramps descended and what we saw made us shiver in instinctual fear. They were tall, bipedal and heavily armored. What flesh we could spot from this distance was unnaturally white, they had no hair and no features upon their heads either. Yet they sported different body shapes, perhaps indicative of sex? It didn’t mattered, they were the enemy and they needed to be destroyed. Our weapons seemed to do very little to their armor, but any hits to exposed flesh did massive amounts of damage, sending the beings falling or flying into the water and sand, pale blue blood pouring from their wounds.
Then they started to fire back, their rounds weren’t energy based, purely kinetic and yet with the speeds they were flying they were clearly being launched by some sort of rail system. The rounds would strike and bury deep before exploding, heat and shrapnel working their deadly trade. Yet the enemy seemed more intent on forcing us to take cover than actually killing us, as became clear as they took cover in craters and behind resort walls. Then the armored vehicles made it to shore and they became the focus of our efforts. Their booming cannons and spitting rotary guns threatened to destroy bunkers and crew weapons alike. Even the aircraft swooped down to strike at us, dropping bombs and firing their dogfighting weapons as well before climbing back into the sky.
For every ten of the infantry or vehicles we destroyed, another thirty was soon behind them. So focused on simply surviving were we that we almost didn’t notice the newest threat. This one walked out of the sea itself, hulking armored forms that were bipedal like the infantry but not showing a single kepti (centimeters) of flesh. These behemoths strode slowly, ponderously across the beach, waving hands at the entrenched beings who would stand and form up with their larger kin. Almost immediately the incoming fire became more intense and precise, causing us to take cover far too often.
The order to pull back to the next line was given and we did so, just as the first of the behemoths burst through a barricade, the angular helmet it wore turning back and forth quickly. It did moved unnervingly fast, but not fast enough to dodge a shot from an anti-vehicle weapon. It staggered backwards, the shot burning through metal and flesh along one side of the helmet. Yet it did not go down, instead a clawed hand rose and grasped what remained of the melting armor and tore it free, revealing a face that’ll haunt me till my dying day.
It was a face of pale flesh, black fur atop their head and around their mouth and jaw. That mouth was twisted into an angry snarl, the one remaining eye burning a cold blue. Yet it was what was on the other side of their face that haunts me. Flesh had burned down to bone, yet there was no bone to be seen, just gleaming chrome. It leered at me, silver teeth clicking as it worked that jaw and began to advance.
Hours later, the planet was theirs. I suppose they wanted to show us that even in a fair fight we were horribly outclassed. That was a few weeks ago now I believe, they’ve just taken the homeworld and are preparing some sort of galaxy wide broadcast. I wonder what they’ll have to say about all this, will they condemn us all to death for one reason or another?
The screen flickers, the normal view of our governmental building coming into focus as one of these horrible monsters steps up to a podium, our leaders cowering behind them.
“People of the Milky Way. We are humanity, a species that knew not what awaited them outside the bounds of their home system. We were hopeful that when we ventured out into the black that we could have found friendship, instead we were nearly murdered in our cradle. Your leaders sentenced us to death out of fear, sentenced millions of children, both born and unborn to agonizing deaths. Your fear led you down a path of atrocities you were all too eager to visit upon a people that couldn’t defend themselves.” The human spoke, their voice rich and booming, met with a deafening silence by audiences on every planet.
“You thought us eradicated, all traces of our existence mere dust on the wind. But you failed. For you see we are a stubborn species and we are also spiteful, spite encourages adaptation. And adapt we did, for five hundred years we suffered your manufactured plague, till it became little more than a reminder of who we were to hate. Yet while many amongst us do hate you and with good reason, we are not here today to visit the same horrors upon your peoples. Instead, you will suffer the authority of another. Our authority. For the next five hundred years you will work to make amends for all you have done and when that time is up, we shall leave you be. For we are not the monsters you thought we were, nor are we the monsters you inadvertently tried to make us. We are humanity, and we will show your people a new and better way.”
The feed shut off and I could only sit back and sigh, resting my head upon the pillow of my hospital bed, as more of these humans surrounded me and began to treat my wounds. I was left to wonder about the future. I wondered at what humanity could show us over the next five hundred years.
And so I closed my eyes, and dreamt of the future.

2024.05.13 23:16 Koala_Guru We need to talk about the debate on "faction favoritism" and why the whole truth is more complex. (Long post)

The abundance of dwarves, humans, and elves in The War Within thus far has ignited a whole new wave of debate across WoW social media on the supposed faction favoritism of the devs. This is a tale as old as time. Whether it was BfA showing "Horde favoritism" by repeating the Horde-centric story of MoP where the Alliance are just sort of along for the ride of a Horde rebellion, Legion showing "Alliance favoritism" for the prevalence of humans, elves, and draenei throughout its core themes, or hell, how BfA's "Horde favoritism" wasn't the "favoritism" the Horde needs because it makes them out to be irredeemable monsters regardless of player input, so BfA was actually "Alliance favoritism" and round and round it goes.
So now we come to TWW and the arguments have started up all over again. But both sides of this debate tend to overlook what exactly is going on with the story, and in the process being vocal about the wrong kind of problems with the storytelling that need to be addressed. What's been happening isn't any kind of faction favoritism. It's race favoritism.
The only playable races that get consistent advancements in story from expansion to expansion are humans, orcs, and elves. Anyone else typically spends their time waiting around for the devs and writers to glance in their general direction and hopefully toss them a crumb of content. A patch that uses their race's aesthetic. Possibly even an expansion that puts them at the forefront. And they just have to pray that whatever story they are given is good, because they won't be getting any more for years after. Otherwise we get something like the retaking of Gilneas: A story Worgen players had been begging for since Cataclysm that ultimately ended up being incredibly short and barely focusing on the Gilneans at all.
Generally what this means is that a race will suddenly get that aforementioned crumb of story, only to be surrounded by people of the opposing faction calling out faction favoritism, when the race in question has not had any story in years. It's happening currently with dwarves. TWW is finally doing something with story threads that were sewn and then left to dangle all the way back in Cataclysm. Dagran is no longer an infant. Dwarven politics are being explored. And a new tribe related to the dwarves is at the forefront of marketing. Again, this is the first time since Cataclysm that dwarves have been given anything to work with, but their role here is being decried as "Alliance favoritism" as if the dwarves had been getting story all along.
Often even when the story would theoretically be most suited to a certain non-human/orc/elf race, we will get new lore making them fit in, or otherwise attach a main character of those races to the story so that players don't get too "lost." The return to Argus, the home of the Draenei, should have been a huge deal for Draenei everywhere. And Velen himself was prominent. But we didn't really get any other Draenei stepping up to play major roles in this Argus storyline. Instead, we reintroduced Turalyon and Alleria. Turalyon is now the leader of the otherwise-Draenei group known as the Army of the Light. He actually is the one who introduced Elekks to their army. Meanwhile Alleria's connections to the void take center stage in Eredath: The zone that is the former main hub of Draenei civilization. Or look at TWW. An expansion entirely underground calls to mind none of the three "main" races WoW likes to focus on. Instead, it makes sense to shift the focus to dwarves, goblins, gnomes, and also other non-playable races. But a whole expansion not focusing on the faves of the writers is unthinkable, so we have to introduce Hallowfall: An underground civilization of humans, elves, and half-elves who have immediate ties to the main plot and quickly take over the focus of the story from the Earthen and Kobolds of the first two zones. Notably, every press release on TWW has said Anduin and Alleria are the main characters of the expansion, not Moira, Dagran, Magni, Gazlowe, or others.
It's also worth noting how the only allied race leaders who have consistently gone on to appear in important story roles after their introduction are the humans and elves. Turalyon and Alleria continue to be important, while Captain Fareeya (I'm sure you're asking "Who?") still has yet to get a defined personality. Thalyssra of the Nightborne immediately went on to play a major role in the Naz'jatar zone of BfA, and has since married Lor'themar, while Mayla occasionally shows up with glazed over eyes to say "Hey, Baine is pretty cool, right?" Talanji actually got a book after BfA, but then disappeared in the actual game in the following expansions. Her appearance in the background of the first TWW trailer turned some heads, only for it to be revealed that she was a placeholder for a new race that seem to be more tied to the Night Elves than anyone else.
There are a few different ways in which an underutilized race can get a story boost:
1) Human/Elf/Orc ties:
Often times we'll start to see a race appear more if they are given explicit ties to one of the three races I talked about. Genn Greymane did appear in many stories beginning with the Legion expansion, though none were really about the Worgen people or Gilneas. Genn himself prefers to stay in his human form, and he is far more invested in Anduin's story than the plight of his people for most of his run as a recurring character. The retaking of Gilneas saw Genn even abdicate the throne to his daughter, Tess, who does not even have a Worgen form. I would not be surprised if Gilneas became a much more prominent part of the story moving forward now that their figurehead is more human. Notably Darius Crowley, someone who is very important to Worgen lore, consistently stays in his Worgen form, and is canonically the leader of the effort to retake Gilneas from Cataclysm to Dragonflight, has been on the bench since his debut and was not even included in the ultimate culmination of his work.
Or how about the Forsaken? Most Forsaken story was not about them, but about Sylvanas Windrunner: An undead High Elf who by virtue of plot is able to not have any visible rotting or traditional Forsaken traits on her body. When BfA and Shadowlands happened, there was some hope among Forsaken players that future Forsaken story could actually be about the average undead, only for them to immediately be tethered to Calia Menethil, another undead who by virtue of plot is able to not have any rotting or traditional Forsaken traits on her body. And we all know how much people love Calia.
2) Complete separation from their race:
Sometimes a character from a race not usually focused on will rise to main story prominence, but only because they no longer have strong ties to their race. Therefore, they can get some story without having to also advance the story of their race. We've already talked about Genn staying in human form most of the time and acting as Anduin's advisor, but he's not the only example. When Magni returned as the "Speaker of Azeroth," there was no shakeup in dwarven society to address. The only place we actually saw some acknowledgement of the shakeups this could cause was in a short promotional comic for Legion where he wakes up, tells Moira he won't want the throne back, and leaves. From Legion to now, Magni has not had a hint of a connection to his people, and we're only now addressing that in TWW.
Baine's biggest roles in the story never have anything to do with him being a leader to his people. Instead, it's when he needs to play the diplomat to Jaina and Anduin. The uncertain foil to Sylvanas or Garrosh. Baine, and the Tauren as a whole, exist as supporting characters in stories not their own. In fact, there's a long history of races only existing to prop up the story favorites. They had to write into the lore that Gelbin Mekkatorque specifically chose to ignore his own people's plight and support the wider Alliance in the hopes they'd one day return the favor. They never have.
3) The story of their debut expansion is focused on them:
Finally you sometimes get an expansion that is dead set on tying its new playable race to the story of its expansion. I speak primarily of the Pandaren and the Dracthyr. Two races introduced in expansions focused on the introduction of their people to the Alliance and Horde, and the problems erupting in their homes. Unfortunately, as we saw with the Pandaren, the buck stops there. Once Mists of Pandaria ended, so did any drive to tell the Pandaren's story. They have remained playable. They remain able to occasionally appear as a background NPC who is drunk or something because that is the one characteristic they're now known for. But any focus on them as a people is gone. Time will tell if the Dracthyr will see the same fate once Dragonflight officially ends, but I don't like their odds.
Conclusion:
All of this is to say, I hesitate to paint with a broad brush and declare something like "Alliance favoritism" or "Horde favoritism." Because that would be to ignore how stagnant the stories of so many of the races in those factions have been for so long. To ignore that Dagran, the supposed next ruler of a united Dwarven people has only just now graduated from a generic baby dwarf model despite being introduced in 2010. To ignore that Gazlowe was casually handed leadership of the Bilgewater Cartel with one line of dialogue while humans and orcs get whole expansions dedicated to a transfer in power. To ignore that "For Gnomeregan" has been the battle cry of a still homeless Gnome population since Vanilla WoW. To ignore that the Draenei, introduced in 2007, are finally confirmed to be thinking about building a new home in our current year of 2024.
I'd like to believe things have changed. I'd like to be excited that Dwarf storylines are being told at the start of Khaz Algar, and there is seemingly setup for a Goblin-centric patch in our future. But I know this franchise's history.

2024.05.13 23:10 blazblu82 A bit of a PSA in regard to Lampray MM for BG3

So, I've been on a hot journey to get mods to work with BG3. I initially started trying to get BG3MM to work with Lutris, but the best I could do was get the MM to run, but not load or export mods. Then, I discovered Lampray with some help from this sub. After several hours worth of work and getting most of my mods redownloaded, I finally figured out how to get them to load successfully.
So, here's the PSA part:
When you run Lampray and set the folder locations, you might think you need to start at /home/.steam/etc... Even though this does get you to the appropriate folders, they're actually not the correct folders. I discovered the folders Lampray needs are the same folders Steam uses when you right-click > Manage > Browse Local Files from within Steam. These locations have you start from /home/.local/share/steam/etc.
I only discovered this by trial and error. The other location does work, but not 100%. Lampray would show all the mods getting loaded, but BG3 wouldn't use them all. Not until I pointed Lampray to the same folder locations accessed via Steam.
So, you want: home/.local/share/steam/steamapps/...
Not: home/.steam/steam/steamspp/...
I hope this helps clarify things for others who are wanting to mod the heck out of BG3, too!

2024.05.13 23:02 The_Forgotten_King For sale: Fully assembled V-Core 3.1 500 mm frame - $500

I'm converting my 500 mm³ Rat Rig V-Core 3.1 to a 4 and have the frame left over, so I'm looking to sell it. By default it comes with:
By default, it has no motors, electronics, extruder, hot end, bed assembly, or enclosure panel. The printed parts are ASA, so this is ready to be enclosed. I'd be willing to include the other parts I have for exactly the replacement cost.
The frame is actually brand new, I didn't complete it before the VC4 came out.
I'm local to Chicago, but am happy to drive a bit or ship wherever. It'd be about $50-$80 in the US depending on how far you are. I'd have to collapse the frame vertically, but the top part with the belt and hot end would stay assembled, as would the electronics panel frame and bottom section. All you'd have to do mechanically is install the four vertical extrusions and three lead screws.
I'm looking for $500+shipping/fees/etc.
Picture of what's included.

2024.05.13 22:09 speednskillz 3.23 is good, Master Modes and the new flight models are not.

So this is what i think of master modes, i posted it as comment on another post and wanted to make it a post rq. And keep in my mind master modes as a concept is okay, however im am totally against limiting ship mobility in any mode, at least a mandatory mobility limit.
  1. Master modes locks combat into a tiny speed envelope, forcing face hug fights and reducing the skill ceiling by an insane margin. It is now a DPS race. "Its to fix jousting!!!!" no sweet child, good pilots dont joust, they glue themselves to their enemies blind spots, or try to. Watch avenger ones videos, hes rarely jousting. Jousting is a mid tier tactic. High level pilots wont joust unless they want to force one to recharge shields or get missiles off. So no, if you were jousting pre 3.23 thats a skill issue. Now there are no skill issues. Its who has better DPS. noice. guess thats good for low skill pilots. Huh guess that explains the vote a bit?
for example pre 3.22 i would always watch my closure speed on the bandit, if its more than 300 m/s ive fucked up. Now thats not an issue because you cant even go fast enough to get closures of 400+ m/s. No need to manage speed when there is no speed. sigh. On top of the speed nerf, all maneuvering thrusters have been nerfed, so actually flying evasive and weaving shots is impossible. That was 3.22s actual high skill meta. Literally dodging laser bolts in my flipping space ship. SO COOL :))) now what is it. BRRRRR my guns bigger my ships hull is heavier...
I was nearly unkillable in my old m50, as long as i didnt make a mistake -talkin PvP here-. Its not like i could kill much but they couldnt kill me, unless with a lucky missile hit. Now nope. M50 is just as weak as a noob would expect :(( sad day man.
  1. Master modes makes ganking far easier. QT jamming is insane right now and the fact that higher speed is locked to a spooled drive, (which makes ZERO sense, but well get to that) means that you cant even move and youll have no shields cuz you spammed into Nav mode. Get wrekt literally ANYONE who isnt the very best pilot, and even then you stand little chance as the ganker is likely in a squad. For those that play{ed} Elite dangerous, think FDL gank squads chain interdicting you. That is now in Star Citizen. Thank you master modes.
Why this sub supports this i have NO idea as you folks seem to hate gankers and "griefing" yet this is OBVIOUSLY going to make that problem SO much worse. Everyones talking about "youre not supposed to play solo" disregarding how much of a time sink this game is... and how getting people together consistently is not easy. And beyond that, thats also encouraging gankers to group up as well, how do you not realize that? And AND ontop of that they say work together, for what? the pultry rewards you get, and then have to split?? at least give us mission stacking amongst party, like Elite dangerous has, if youre gonna mutter about wing men and the like...
  1. MM makes flying less realistic than it was in 3.22. And dont go on about how 3.22 was realistic either. That's not relevant. What is relevant is that 3.23 is LESS realistic than 3.22. For one the shift to nav mode to combat can force a mach 5 to mach .08 deceleration in 1.5 seconds... guess what buddy, youre dead, your neck snapped... this game has g forces and g out modeled soooo why tf am i still awake after that? less immersive right there. and yes i know the elevators have insane acceleration as well and im willing to suspend my disbelief for that as it would be sucky to have long ass elevator rides where youre getting thrown around. IM not willing to suspend my disbelief for some asinine feature that violates the laws of physics on several points. or at the very least the laws of this game. Like how the hell am i even slowing down. Considering they nerfed retro thrusters and even before they couldnt get close to that kind of deceleration. Its literally the GAME just saying "OPE YOURE IN COMBAT MODE YOU GOTTA GO SLOW NOWWWWWW" that legitimately makes me angry. its an insult. And then it forces you to stay at that speed. hey, buddy? im slamming thrust, im in space, that means im accelerating. thats how physics works. It doesnt matter what freaking mode my ship is in. If im hitting thrust im going faster and faster. If im hitting no thrust then i continue at current speed. meaning the game is LITERALLY FIRING YOUR RETRO THRUSTERS TO PREVENT YOU FROM MOVING. guys this makes me unresoanbly angry. theyre using my ships thrusters to prevent me from going to the speed I fucking want. GET YOUR GRUBBY FUCKIN PAWS OFF MY FUCKIN CONTROLS. I DECIDE WHEN MY THRUSTERS FIRE. ITS MY FUCKING SPACE SHIP DAMMIT.
okay im sorry turned into a rant there. it just makes me super angry, and they do shit like this IRL too, they being car companies. Forcing my damn car to break and shit, with no way to disable it. Treating us like children, really irks me. This is a god damn game man, let me move freely.
  1. Where in sci fi does a ship need to disable its sub light maneuverability for any mode. Ill wait. Not Star trek ships. Not star wars ships. Not any popular sci fi i can think of that has a dumb ass mobility limiter. Why is that? cuz it literally makes no sense. You always need energy to slow down in space always. the only way i could think of them justifying the slow down is if they said something like the quantum drive distorts space around the ship and you cant go faster safely, or something. which is to say that in QT mode youd be slow Not in combat mode. lol.
All in all this update took alot away from combat to add a cheap Arcady gimmick. Combat pilots arent satisfied and arent having fun. Folks talking about relearn combat. Why would i relearn something thats less fun? answer, i shouldnt and i wont. This ggs for me and Star Citizen until this is cleaned up. It doesnt need to go back to 3.22, but it does need to change drastically, and in the direction of 3.22. Many combat pilots feel the same as me.

2024.05.13 22:00 SpicySparkM400 Chassis handling upgrades done

I'll post pictures when I'll get access to ramps or jack or even better a car lift.
All Ultraracing's chassis bars are installed!
Last two 4 point crossmembers were definitely worth the money, you can feel it immediately when holding the steering wheel as you drive through corners.
Also, it eliminates so much flex in the stock Spark chassis.
Insane, I was so thrilled when driving it earlier today.
I definitely recommend all braces and crossmembers for this car. Absolute blast to drive and yet I don't even have the Yokohama Advan Fleva 701 which are 10 mm wider than my actual all seasons Continental ContiPRO Contact tires.
I know the car ain't a powerhouse but you can make it more enjoyable to drive and so much more planted.
Lowering Springs are a thought in my head... for the final handling touch. Coilovers that I had in July of last year were too radical for me. On stock suspension and with 0.5 inches wider alloy wheels, it's so fun to drive. I wouldn't come back to a stock Spark without all the handling upgrades.

2024.05.13 21:08 mmolesky Lifetime flight miles - former 1K moving back to MP from SAS EuroBonus

SFO-based traveler here. I've been a longtime United flier and was a multi-year 1K member until 2018, when I moved over to SAS EuroBonus due to some changes in my geography. With SAS leaving Star Alliance on August 31st, 2024 I'm considering moving back to MileagePlus as my frequent flyer program. However, since my flights on United metal over the past 6 years (~90k) haven't credited to my lifetime flight miles for Million Miler status, I'd be restarting that track from behind (and it would be much easier for me to qualify ongoing for Gold or higher status on another *A FF program like Aegean).
Has anyone requested a recalculation of their lifetime miles to credit previous flights on United metal that were associated with a different frequent flyer program? NOT asking for redeemable miles, PQPs, or anything like that, simply progress toward MM status based on actual United flights I took. It would make a big difference in deciding which FF program I move to, and the SAS alliance change is pretty unprecedented.
Any US-based EuroBonus elites out there facing a similar situation? Or does anyone have advice on the best contact at United to try and reach out to for this request?

Harry (finally) gets critiqued for his bad clothing choices on Twitter
A pretty popular menswear writer on Twitter (derek guy, @ dieworkwear) critiqued Harry's choice of clothing, basically saying he's buying/wearing relatively cheap stuff for someone with his upbringing/background and resources. The first post has over 6K likes at the moment. Comments range from being supportive to Harry, agreeing with derek guy, blaming MM (her spending leaves little money for him) and claiming it's a strategy to make him come across as more 'accessible'.
The poster, derek guy, often does great threads about menswear. Last week he compared Piers Morgan's 'style' to Kermit the Frog's side by side (and Piers made a sad little vid about it, clearly couldn't take the joke) and he often gives great advice about menswear, including how to dress well for less money and how/where clothing is supposed to fit and why. It's a shame there isn't a female equivalent of him (an actual expert who makes similar well-argued posts about womenswear, not just a random fashion blogger) to critique MM's clothing choices.
Twitter post: \"Prince Harry seemingly has no interest in clothes and (reasonably) dislikes the trappings of monarchy. IMO, this shows through his clothing choices (machine-made pick stitching along the lapel reveals this is a mid-tier ready-to-wear jacket).\"
Twitter post: \"But I wish he would wear a different silhouette. Many of his outfits would be improved by a wider lapel, a higher rise, and better shaping. Compare these two linen suits. Heavier fabric, better shaping and more classic proportions make the one on the right better, IMO\"
Twitter post: \"To me, he seemingly has no interest in clothes. my guess is that this is a j crew suit. which is fine, but surprising for someone with his resources.\"

2024.05.13 19:53 PepoG5 Europlasma?

Hey guys, there's a lot of talk about Europlasma on the German market. Do you have any more information? There were crazy fluctuations today. I got in myself just under a month ago. I personally believe in the company - the French state is subsidising the company and Dubai has also got on board. Just over a week ago the market capitalisation was €300k - last week it jumped from €300k to €900k and on the same day to €2.4m.
I actually see europlasma as an interesting investment. The last few weeks have seen a few political moves that could indicate the company's indispensability for France. Subsidies + investments from Dubai + the only company that produces 155 mm shells for the Cesar. In the past, a takeover for political reasons has quickly materialised in such circumstances, and that's exactly what I'm speculating on.
What do you think?

2024.05.13 19:03 that_dogs_wilin am I crazy? is the size chart just wrong?

I recently bought some Bomb Dungarees in size 32. I have several other Outlier pants and shorts I bought a while ago that fit me well (still), in size 30 and 31. I got the new ones in 32 because I'm lifting a bit more now and I wanted to err on the side of larger.
So when I got them I was surprised to find that they were way too small. To be clear, I'm not complaining about them being too tight. My issue is that before ordering, I looked at the size chart, used that as a reference with other pants I have, and measured the ones I got, and they're pretty different from what the chart says.
Here are a few pics and numbers for comparison:
the size chart for Bomb Dungarees on the website
if I understand that right, size 32 should be 12.5 inches, measured at the upper thigh, from the crotch, horizontally to the edge, when the pants are laid flat.
Here's what they look like with a ruler:
pic 1
pic 2
I'm pressing the ruler down to make them lie flat and I lifted the other leg up so I could be as generous as possible (counting additional distance under the pants crotch, which I probably shouldn't), to make it as close to what it should be.
You can see that it's at most 11 inches, and probably even a bit smaller. Since they're lying flat, that means they're actually about 3 inches smaller in circumference. I don't want to sound like I'm nitpicking about fractions of an inch, so note that the smallest size on that chart (size 28) has a measurement (11.5") that's bigger than this. So it seems like the error covers the whole range of sizes.
I don't understand: is there something I'm missing about how we're supposed to measure that? I really like all the other Outlier clothes I've bought but it's strange that a company that's supposedly all about ~technical details~ seems to have one of the main things I need to know to wear the pants wrong. Is this chart just wrong? it's not encouraging that both the top opening and leg opening are labeled "top opening".
