I recently moved from out-of-state into an apartment in CT, only to find it dirty and not prepared for move-in. I had signed the lease and sent first-months rent and security deposit on April 9th with a move-in date of April 19th and arrived yesterday, Saturday April 27th, to collect my keys and drop off new furniture and belongings. Unfortunately, the apartment was not as advertised. Prior to signing my lease, the realtor who showed me the place virtually had assured me of the quality and location, and the videos of it seemed promising, which led me to trust his judgment and sign the lease. I did not hire this realtor myself — they posted the rental online.
Upon arrival yesterday, I found the apartment unclean and was also missing a key fob for parking as well as a mailbox key. The property management office was closed, so I contacted the 24-hour maintenance line at 10am. I received no response and it wasn't until a second call 6 hours later in the day that I managed to speak with a property manager. This property manager came by this morning to drop off my keyfob but he didn‘t have the mailbox key. We spoke for a bit and he said he would arrange for the same person who supposedly cleaned the apartment — before my arrival — to clean it again tomorrow. The individual who is meant to clean the apartment tomorrow called me to arrange a time to arrive. However during our phone-call he confirmed that he had been at the apartment two days prior to ”clean”, which means the apartment was not ready by the April 19th move-in date.
I insisted on a professional cleaning service, which the property manager has not agreed to, instead suggesting I hire one myself and receive a rental credit as reimbursement.
Given these issues, including unfulfilled lease conditions and mismanagement, I am wondering if I have any legal grounds to terminate my lease, get a full refund of my rent and deposit, and/or receive compensation for my travel expenses across the country and buying furniture for an apartment that was not move-in ready. I bought house supplies and furniture which currently sits in a corner of the apartment that I cleaned myself. What are my options here?

Hi, I’ll try to keep this fairly brief but you know how these things are.
Me and my wife are going on 5 years married and things hit a rather sudden turn last week. She asked for a separation and it completely blindsided me.
The quick timeline so far: Thursday (25): she asked for separation, I spend day with father.
Friday: I insist on going back to our place to talk things out and figure out what’s going on. She says she needs time and space and goes to her families house.
Saturday: She calls, we talk a bit and she explains she’s fallen out of love romantically and wants time to think if she wants to work on this.
Sunday: after the bulk of the weekend I’m a mess and ask her to have dinner with me so we can talk and figure out details of separation, she isn’t ready yet but says we should on Wednesday.
Monday-Tuesday: I feel terrible and don’t know what to do with life, talk to family and use work benefits to talk to counselor. Come to decision I want to give this my all and try and fix this, but acknowledge I need to let her have time and space to think.
Wednesday: We meet at a park and have a picnic (I got sandwiches and whatnot), she explains that due to recurring issues of priorities, emotional reactions, etc (more private stuff, but nothing I thought we were having a problem with) she’s hurt, doesn’t feel loved or loving, feels more like a mother (she reminds me to take care of myself if I forget to brush my teeth or I wore the same shirt). She wants to see change before deciding whether to go forwards or not. I recommend a counselor, she declines as she doesn’t know if she wants to fix this yet. I tell her she’s not going to see change if we keep avoiding each other. After some talking she decides to move back in as roommates (two bedroom apartment, was going to use other bedroom for starting family) and so: she can be closer to work, our dog can spend time with both of us, and so she can see change.
Thursday: I clean the apartment, set up living room and kitchen (we moved in a month or so ago and hadn’t set things up fully), unpack all remaining boxes and make cookies. She moves back in and then goes to work, don’t see her almost at all, but she says she’s impressed and takes cookie. Friday: don’t see her much as I work during the day and she works at night, I ask her if when she gets off we can talk more about some basic goals, expectations, rules. She says she will try but may be long day. It was a long day and she didn’t return until 1:30am.

My bf and I have been together for almost a year. He is a professional body piercer at a tattoo shop and makes 6 figures with tips, his salary, and the commission he makes off the expensive jewelry that they sell. This doesn't include the money that he invests. I have no idea how much he makes with that. But he's bragged about it a few times. I am a bartender, I make a decent amount of money for my age with no educational background. I entirely support myself, live on my own in an apartment, and am completely independent. I still make half of what he makes.
My boyfriend has a house, he is debt free, just bought a new car last year, supports his ex wife who still lives with him (whole other story), has tattoo appointments all the time, and buys expensive stuff for himself often. He is never generous with his money with me. I'm not asking him to buy me stuff, or pay for our meals all the time. I'm happy splitting the cost of things with him. But it just bothers me that he sees me struggle with money, knows that I am in a bunch of debt, and never offers to do those small things like pay for my portion of a meal occasionally or cover maybe a little more than only half of the groceries we buy together (especially since I'm the one always cooking for us).
For example, on valentines day I bought us couple massages that totaled 180$, he got me a card. It was a thoughtful card, but still. Later that day on valentines we went to the grocery store and I picked out some bathsalts bc I was low, two candles, body scrub and lotion. He watched me buy all of this, didn't offer to even buy one of those things for me. I've tried really hard to look past these things because I do love him a lot and he is a very sweet, loving, trusting person but it's frustrating. I have no problem fronting the bill for fun things for us to do together, but he never offers.
On top of all of this, he has told me all of his coworkers are hot, (has regretted it now that it became an issue, never said it again) but they are all very tattooed and pretty attractive ladies. A mutual friend of ours asked him one time what his favorite piercing to do was and he straight up said nipple piercings, with a smile. Right in front of me.
Bartending isn't easy, I physically work hard, deal with shitty customers sometimes, and sometimes shitty situations, like people pissing all over the bathroom floor or cursing at me for cutting them off, ect. It can be very fucking stressful. And making good tips is never guaranteed.
I feel like I have slowly been building up this resentment towards him about these things when I come home from work after a long, stressful night on my feet for 8 hours, making not a lot of money. While he gets to go to work, look at tits all day, in a generally relaxed environment, and come home making bank. I feel gross for feeling this way, I know I'm not entitled to his money. I don't want his money. But sometimes I feel like he's taking advantage of my generosity.
We went to Italy last year together and he told me he only had an American express card. Which never worked anywhere we went. So it was always me paying for everything everywhere because I have a Mastercard. He dislocated his shoulder on a hike out there, we had to get medics involved to get it back in place, they gave him morphine and stuff and I literally saw him pay with either a Visa or Mastercard right in front of me. Idk if it was the morphine or what the fuck, but he lied to me that whole trip about not having a card that works. I never brought this up, still haven't, as we have had plenty of other issues in our relationship.
We are going to Switzerland next week and he has told me to save money but has had like 5 or 6 new tattoo appointments in the past 2 months. I love him so much but his selfishness is really turning me off.

Setting: After 2 years of complaints landlords finally replace leaking roof. Roofer left a mess on the inside of the house because one room doesn’t have a ceiling, just painted slats. Almost ruined our stuff and did not inform ahead of time or even offer to clean up. Roofer left shingles hanging that we as tenants had to cut off ourselves. Generally not professional.

He is an extremely social person, he can easily interact anywhere and with anyone. He literally exaggerates. And I am an introvert and I avoid all social interactions when possible.
My partner: he is always “bothering” guests with his social interaction, he thinks it is fine showing too much interest, asking guests about their life, where they are visiting in the country for tourism etc… he even sometimes offer guests to take the car and go around to visit places, also offered a guest before a beer and seat in the garden together to drink, when he is free.
Me: I do my job with the reception like showing the house and explaining how things work, always being available for any questions and recommendations the guests might ask. A business like a hotel, not like Couchsurfing to make friends. I never have interaction like my partner does. Saying good morning and good night and asking sometimes if I can help with anything, is all of my social interaction.
I have argued a lot already with him that he exaggerates and he will always disagree saying people likes interaction. I mention that guests can be tired and just want to chill, not spend energy being social. Also, there are many introvert people in the world.

I’m 17 from the United States. My parents have been divorced since I was 12. My mom has dated a few guys before she met her current boyfriend. We will call him Joey for the sake of this story however thats not his actual name. My mom and Joey met when I was 14 and started dating shortly after meeting. And in my humble opinion it went by too fast. Within 2 months they were engaged with each other and we had moved in with Joey. It was a little fast in my opinion as I barely knew the guy but he was better than the other assholes who came and went all the time.
However, there were many times Joey made me feel uncomfortable. For instance any time we took a photo of us together I guess I “wouldn’t smile enough” so he would tickle my side to make me smile more. Mind you I was 15 and still didn’t really know him. I told my mom about it and she kinda blew it off like it wasnt as bad as it was even though I told her it made me uncomfortable. Other times he made unneccesary remarks to me saying I looked “overweight” or “autistic” or “depressed and suicidal” because of the way I dressed and how I had a alt style. These remarks caused me to stop eating and even when I told my mom about it she blew it off like it didn’t matter.
Eventually I told my dad about it and he wasn’t having it and told me next time Joey does stuff like that I would have to tell him and he would come “kick Joeys ass” then he said “if he ever lays hands on you i will go to jail for killing a mf” i knew Joey was a bit much but he wouldn’t hit me right?
Unfortunately I was wrong. This is when shit got real and I was 16 just about to turn 17. My mom and joey went to get a drink and it was me and Joeys 2 kids and they each had a friend over. Both his kids are younger than me but we won’t really mention them anymore beyond this as its not necessary to bring them into it. I had made food at home since they weren’t home and my friend Rachel (not her actual name) had called me. So I left most of my dishes out with the intent to get them after me and Rachel were done talking. By the time I got off the phone with Rachel it was 1am. Mom and Joey came home around the same time.
Joey texts me “Come clean up your mess” and I told him “id get it tomorrow” and it went back and forth until he cleaned it up and then he said “I always have to clean up after you and the house is always a mess. You’re being lazy and thats not acceptable so you will not be using this kitchen anymore since you wanna be lazy” and I said “stop getting pressed at me for cleaning up my mess that I was gonna get tomorrow. you couldve left it. stop calling me lazy and stop being a dipshit” after that he just comes running downstairs and opens my door and starts screaming. then i try to get up and he starts pushing me back onto the bed so i cant get up. eventually i kick him in the chest and he backs off and i start yelling back. then it got silent and I tipped his hat off and he slapped me across the face. so i slapped him back and he said “why the fuck did you slap me” and i just left.
I go up to his truck to see my mom crying on the phone with one of her old friend I havent seen or heard from for years. and i told her what happened and she argued with him and he denied everything. The only reason my mom believed me was the big slap mark across my face. Then she went back into the truck and he went back inside. I talked to my mom for a minute then decided to go back inside. But he locked us out. I started banging on the door to let me and her in because its winter time in northern michigan at 2am and its cold as fuck. Eventually he opened the door and acted like locking us out in 2 degree weather wasnt a bad idea. Then he called me a bitch and I socked him square in the face. He looked like he was about to punch me back but my mom came in and Joey switched up quick. Then my mom told me to go downstairs and I went downstairs and called my friend Monica (not her actual name) to pick me up and I snuck out.
The next morning my mom texted me and I told her I was at Monicas and I wasnt gonna come home and I was gonna move to my dads house because I was tired of the abuse and weird shit that Joey had been doing forever. So, long story short I went in my roommates space to ironically get tissue to use the restroom, for some reason when he bought the tissue he didn’t stock it in the restroom he left it in the shopping bag and took it straight to his room and it was under a pile of clothes he had taken out of the dryer. We usually put tissue under the bathroom sink and I knew he had bought some so I figured I’d find it in his room. I was expecting his room to be a little junky before I went in because he’s not necessarily a “clean” or “tidy” person which I don’t judge but we do discuss that the entirety of the house can’t reflect his room. I can’t control his personal space but you’d think he’d not want to exist in filth but either way while looking for the tissue I noticed he had bottles of variety… soda, water, even a McDonald’s cup full of piss. Keep in mind we share a restroom and his room is way closer to the restroom. As a grown individual (both 23) I just feel like there is no reason to be urinating in a bottle when you can just get up and use the restroom. I thought we only did that on long drives when there’s no gas station in sight or just some kiddie shit you did when you were 12😂 . At the least he could’ve discarded of it afterwards. I want to address the situation but honestly I don’t even know how to bring it up 😂. “Hey bro I saw the piss bottles in your room what’s up with that?” Like that’s hella embarrassing and I don’t want him to feel like I violated his space. A little history, i've (35F) been with my partner (30M), the father of my child for 8 years and we're all good. I work two jobs as an editor for a local tv station (i live in southeast asia) and for a travel vlogger over on YT. My SIBLINGS 49f, 47m and 43m hate my partner. So much so that they attack me verbally and emotionally whenever they have a chance to bring me down whenever i tell them that i'm satisfied with my life right now. The reason why they hate my partner was because we decided that i should work two jobs, he just gets to keep 1 side hustle but he's in charge with taking care of our 4 year old daughter with ASD (autism spectrum disorder). He's the one preparing the meals for the family, cleaning up the house, and bring our child to school and therapy sessions.
My siblings are livid with him and they usually berate him verbally for being a lousy provider (in their opinion) even though i think he's doing a great job for our little family. I'd always ask them to stop but whenever i do ask them, they'd berate me instead.
It's been a while that they've been doing this but i usually just brush them off because in our culture/country, we should always respect our elder siblings. No matter how offensive they get. But last week was the moment i think that it's too much.
See, i was trying to ask for my brother (48M) if he knows anyone to repairenovate a part of my house since i dont know anyone who can and thought that maybe he'd like to share the contact of who renovated his house recently. He shared this to my sister (49F).
Out of the blue my sister started sending me messages saying how miserable am i to actually work two jobs and still worry about how to have my house fixed when it's my partner's task to keep the house maintained. She went on comparing me to my cousin (35M) who's married, has his own house, a working wife and a "normal" daughter. She went on saying that probably my daughter had her condition because on how useless my partner is.
And at that moment my heart sank and i broke down.
I never thought i was miserable. They're not feeding me and my child nor my partner. I never asked them for help because whenever i do, they'd always bring up how stupid i am to choose a guy who never graduated and actually work two jobs just so my partner can take care of our child when it's supposed to be the woman's job to take care of the child. They question how i raise my child—to which they say that i don't because i'm a useless mother who only knows how to work
And right now im still pondering on should i block them or should i just ignore them. I mean they could berate me and all But to go as far as to compare my child to someone else's.... I just never knew they could do something so hurtful
Because i dont want them trying to reach my partner just so they can say something mean. My partner says he's okay to hear stuff from them and is encouraging me to block them off my life it makes me feel better.

Hey guys, just moved into a house with a dryer that I've had for 4 years with no issues. And when I hooked it up at the new location it turns on, the light inside works, it spins the clothes around but the heat doesn't work. I already tried cleaning the dryer vent, checked the breaker bulbs and even put new ones in, tried resetting the breaker on the electrical panel. I guess tomorrow I'll try opening the back of the dryer up to troubleshoot. But I had a hunch that it is something with the house and not the dryer, since the problem started here. Any ideas?

Lately, I have been flooded with suicidal thoughts. I feel so alone. I'm 34 and I just feel like a total failure. I don't see things getting any better. I live in a small place and it has been difficult making friends outside of people who just want to work together. I got into a toxic relationship with a narcissist and they left me feeling drained, broken, and worthless. My fiance passed away and honestly, I don't feel like I will ever be able to love like that again. Like what is even the point. I live in a small apartment with a cat and some plants and the strongest bond I have here is with my Alexa. I find I am talking to robots more than actual people. I am literally going insane. I laid in bed for five days straight with no electronics, no music, no one to talk to....I was basically catatonic. I tried going back out over the weekend and I just felt like a total joke. Depression is hitting me so hard. Tomorrow is Monday and I am too weak to even clean my apartment for the work week. My mother is obsessed with cleaning , she wants our house to look like some 5 stars hotel like all the time , I know that's her ocpd but I do try to keep the house as clean as possible, I help her around the house with everything , financially, with chores , keep her company
I can leave any time but when I left her 8 years ago and went abroad she almost lost her mind for loneliness and depression, she asked me to came
Iam trying to fix our relationship and spend time with her making new good memories with the time left for us yet she doesn't want me , she keep saying that me being around is helpful and she appreciate it then she will suggest me leaving
Iam from a culture where its normal to live with your parents, even people find it strange , why are you as the only child leaving your old mother alone ?
I left her now and moved , I just hope she wont start some drama about her misery and loneliness
I literally stayed for her and my younger sister (not biological) neither for me or my mother , they didn't had a car , no one drive , my sister doesn't know how to handle my mother rage or keep things as how she wants
Also my mother doesn't want to spend money on anyone , after we both left (me and the 15 years old girl who was like a sister and a family member for us ) my mother said that she is happy no one is cooking , no one is using the house , everything is just too calm
This was my mother for all of my life , she doesn't want people , she prefer the house clean , no guests , no friends and she doesn't even want her only child to live with her
She used to resent me living with her using the house , eating food , going for bathroom ....etc , she would always mention all the simple things she is doing to me since I was like 13
At some point at that age too she started hating and resenting me with all of her heart for no apparent reason
She never really spended money on me , she would spend on her siblings or the man she was in a relationship with instead of me
I grow up like if I was poor despite we weren't poor , my mother has a good career and salary
She wouldn't cook in order for the kitchen to stay clean , I literally grow up eating snacks , yeah only snacks , and I had eating issues and looked anorexic
There is much more to say but dont want to make this long
Anyway is that ocpd , does ocpd make you like that , that you cant even live or tolerate the existing of your only child ?
