2024.05.14 08:28 caltexlubricants THE BEST LUBRICANT FOR CVT - EQUIPPED CARS
| The shifting regulatory environment and consumer preferences are forcing automobile manufacturers to reduce vehicular emissions and improve fuel economy. The UAEstandard for fuel efficiency set by the Ecological Footprint Initiative (EFI) has an objective to enhance UAE fleet's fuel efficiency from the current average of 12.1 km/l to 20.8 km/l by 2028, resulting in a reduction of carbon emissions. Therefore, automakers in the UAE are building smaller, lighter, more powerful and fuel-efficient engines to meet EFI's requirements. To achieve the target fuel efficiency number, automakers recommend using durable, lower viscosity lubricants. These fluids are mostly made from synthetic base oils. Lubricant manufacturers, for their part, are formulating advanced lubricating fluids that improve fuel efficiency, protect the engine better and extend drain intervals. Cars equipped with the Continuously variable transmission (CVT), also known as a shiftless transmission, have a better fuel economy than conventional automatic transmissions. https://preview.redd.it/dgajsfe66c0d1.jpg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6634736b846ac8a881cee3c9804ffbef71d75288 Currently, CVTs are only used alongside smaller capacity engines because of their limited torque handling capacity. But the technology is evolving. Japanese and Korean car manufacturers are increasingly using CVTs in bigger cars. CVTs mechanically differentiate themselves from standard automatics by having a belt on a chain riding between two pulleys to increase fuel efficiency. But this arrangement gives rise to high steel-on-steel friction. So, they require lubricants different from automatic transmission fluids. As the transmission technology becomes widely used and more cars with CVTs come out of warranty, there is a need for aftermarket CVT fluids. Car mechanics service a variety of automatic transmissions, including a broad array of CVTs. Additionally, there are a number of fluid specifications dedicated to CVT service-fill applications. This complexity is what drove demand by car owners, professional mechanics, and garages for multi-vehicle ATFs and similar aftermarket CVT fluids. To address this demand, Caltex is proud to announce Havoline ® for the Middle East. It is a new and advanced service-fill CVT product for better performance and increased fuel economy. The lubricant has been developed over years and has undergone field testing and performance testing to meet the broadest possible range of critical CVT applications. Based on transmission tear-downs, Caltex Havoline has shown excellent performance, in some cases better than OEM factory-fill CVT fluids. 2024.05.14 08:27 MisterFyre How do I unlock the painted styles for vehicles?
All of them show up as locked.
I assume the Scorpion car had them unlockable in Rocket Racing Challenges (wasn't aware of that if so), but for cars like the Octane how do I unlock them?

2024.05.14 08:17 90nissan300zx First Ceramic Coat
| TLDR: Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic Coating. Car shiny. Car protected. Not sponsored. I'm an asshole. I am my own worst enemy. I hate being as meticulous as I am. I know that eventually I'll stop caring as much since this is my DD. Anyway, I picked up the Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic Coating kit on Amazon. Luckily, it was on sale for $107.97. Now it looks like it's back over $150. Picked up my new TR last month. Polished her up with Sonax Perfect Finish since there were the typical micro scratches here and there. Applied Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. Smacked some bugs on the way to work and by the time I got home to wipe them off, I noticed some of the bug guts had penetrated through the sealant and clearcoat, leaving etching. The next day we had heavy rain. Came out of work to see the sealant had all come up and was a dark yellowy, gooey mess. It then it dawned on me that the bottle I used was about 5 years old and the product was likely no good anymore, despite me storing it inside the house. Should've took a Mississippi second to think about this before using it. Time flies and I'm only human; I make mistakes. The etching was definitely embedded into the clearcoat of the front bumper. Polishing didn't work. Stepped up to Sonax CutMax with a Lake Country orange pad. Didn't work. Broke out the 5000 grit sandpaper, wetsanded, CutMax/orange and then Perfect Finish/white. Etching gone. These bugs must've eaten straight battery acid; they weren't even on the paint long. Next was a strip wash. For 2 hours. Prepped the car with Adam's Prep and went to town on the application. I had never done a ceramic coating prior to this. I figure if I mess it up, I have all of the equipment to start over. It wasn't difficult but to ensure it was done right took me some time. I went slow at first until I got a feel for how long the product took to flash/set. Application was about 2 hours. Gloss/shine is similar to most other high quality waxes/sealants I've used in the past on my other cars. The benefits being the extreme hydrophobicity, protection and longevity. I'm happy with the results. I do have a small high spot on the hood that I must've missed. Near impossible to see unless lighting is right and I turn/tilt my head like an owl. I'll polish it down next weekend and reapply some ceramic. Also, I didn't get around to applying it to the cladding yet. Not too bad for my first ceramic coat. Snapped a few photos before work. Anxious to break out the DSLR to get better shots. submitted by 90nissan300zx to wrx_vb [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 08:06 skeddadle_123 used ev clarification help!!
Hi! I'm looking into buying my first car straight out of college since I have to commute 3 days a week into my office.
I've been heavily considering a 2021 m3 since I'll be working in a state that has no sales tax for ev + other incentives and there are a lot of used m3s out there under 25k.
I was looking at the requirements for the credit and it's for individuals who earned less than 75k in either 2024/2023. The only job I had last year was from my summer internship, where I earned around 20k for the entire 2023 year. My full time job starting this summer 2024 will be well above that income threshold, but would I still qualify for the ev tax credit since I only earned 20k from my internship last year? Thanks!

2024.05.14 08:00 Grade-Long Invited to post this here Re: Social Media marketing (mainly IG)
Gday team. I have a note I add to when I learn things about SM. I got sick of seeing the same questions so I every time I answered I added to the note and just pasted a generic reply. I’ve been invited to post it here, so here you are!
Here’s my ever-growing, non-specific copy-paste reply, built from my own notes:
- Remember, followers are only for your ego. If you’re a business, Would you rather have a million followers who never buy anything or 1000 followers who purchase everything? (Read Kevin Kelly’s 1000 true fans article). However, if you’re trying to build an account for a brand or human deals, you need as many as possible. I.e. athletes wanting future deals/contracts, actresses wanting future roles, etc
- Dollars are the only score that matters in business. You can sell 1 million $1 items or 1x $1m item, it’s still a million dollars
- How do you get your first ten followers/sales? ASK. Start with your friends/family/personal socials. “Hey, I've started this thing; I'd love for you to follow”. Then contact everyone you've ever known (see cold outreach later, but this is warm haha). THEN ask them all for referrals: “who do you know that could use my help?”
- Re: cold contacting. Have a framework, but don't automate. Solve their problems. Say something personal (” [mutual person] told me to reach out to you” / “I really like your x” /”congratulations on y”). I noticed that [problem]. Fix their problem. Wish them a nice day. Have an offer in your email signature.
- Your profile description should be a hook/tagline / USP and link to your offer. Remember you’re building your house on rented land if you use socials as your client base. Algorithm changes, and they’re gone. Try sending them off socials to your email list, learn storytelling in email marketing (Russell Brunson has good advice), and you will own that contact for life.
- Choose a monetisable niche, find the most successful person in that niche, and put your spin on what they’re doing (ask AI)
- Make GOOD content that is visually appealing, entertaining, and has hooks (you have 3 seconds to get attention), but most importantly, ADDS VALUE to your target market (ask AI for suggestions - you can even ask AI to create a customer avatar for you and then ask it how to make good, relevant IG posts for that avatar)
- Keep your ears and eyes out for trends. Can you throw a trending song over a clip?
- Leverage pop culture. Search for what’s trending daily. Can you combine a movie or album release with your product? For example, if you’re in the auto niche, create an image of a car covered in green slime coinciding with the new Ghostbusters movie
- Document your process. Humans evolved on stories & we love to feel part of something and/or have front-row tickets to the show. For example, If you post art, film yourself making the art, not just the final product; talk about your decisions along the way. Also, it is easy content for you, and you’re just filming something you’re already doing
- Share as many success stories/testimonials as possible, preferably videos. Tag them. Make it easy for users to share themselves.
- In a similar vein, and with permission, share your audience questions in your stories (and tag them)
- Remember the rule of 100 (you need to do something 100x before you get “good” at it). Have you posted 100x and made changes as you’ve observed what worked and what didn’t?
- Every 5th or so post, add a Call To Action
- Always have something to invite people to, such as an event (e.g. Facebook live, face-to-face), a giveaway, a new product, etc. Ensure all your social media banners, popups, CTAs & email sig reflect this (read Book Yourself Solid by Michael Port)
- Use the right hashtags (be discoverable)
- Post at the correct times for your target market (I like 6-630am so when they wake up and scroll, it’s on their feed, their lunch break and a story at 8 pm in the relevant timezone). Steven Bartlett credits the daily 8pm personal thought post the most important part of his success.
- Follow the top 100 people in your niche with between 10k & 100k followers. Engage with them daily. Share their posts. Comment on Their work. As always, be sincere and say something meaningful
- Comment relevant things on important people pages (Gary Vees $1.80 strategy)
- Spend $10 a day on ads of targeted content to targeted people (don’t “but I want to grow organically” - Do you want to be seen or not?). Start ad sets at midnight.
- Russell Brunson recommends ads are only for offers; posts that aren't offers aren’t to be paid for ads—two separate things. Ads get your customers into the funnel and upsell makes you a profit. Say you sell a $10 ebook and a $300 course. Spend $10 per click for the ebook, so it’s a break-even cost, and everyone who buys the upsell is pure profit. Ad budget for testing is the price/profit of ONE upsell, so $300 in this example. Then, reassess, test and adjust. If it’s working, keep it going, but also test variations regardless. Brendan Kane suggests 50-100 variations from memory. Again, get AI to help. Start with your headline. Ask for ten variations. Then your pic. Get ten variations. Then your hook. Get ten variations etc.
- Pay relevant influencers to share your stuff
- Read all of Gary Vees and Brendan Kane’s books
- Do these things 30-50x a day (Gary Vees' advice for new accounts, search for his eight tips 2024 YT vid) across all your platforms for months, maybe years, and you’ll grow. Perhaps someone famous will share your stuff, and you’ll go viral. But remember, each platform has its nuances, so you need to rework content for it (again, use AI - create one piece and ask AI to brainstorm how to recreate for each platform - you can start with the longest form, say a YouTube vid or blog post and ask it how to make tweets or IG posts from it) however you can still “push”. For example, you can post native Facebook content, but you can also put your YouTube vids and IG posts there
- Make at least three posts a day for a month, that's 90 posts, and report back what you learned, what worked and didn’t for everyone else’s benefit. *I've had some pushback on this: A) I don’t make the rules; this seems to be current best practice; B) 1st post = a BTS post of you developing the post, 2nd post = the post, 3rd post = a story summing up your day. OR make all your content in one day and schedule it to post throughout the week. If you don’t have money, you have time; if you have money, outsource it.
- Good luck!

2024.05.14 07:53 Treebear_Hunter Michelin GR1 race
| I saw someone asking about this race. Here is my strategy. I'm a very average player. So if I can do it then you can do it. The easiest strategy is super formula 2019, lower power to accomodate racing softb and still under 950pp. 3 stops. toggle between fm1 and 2 to get 6 laps. You do not have to change tire at each refuel stop but you will be in so much lead it doesnt matter if you did. Alternatively change tire only at the second stop. After your third stop, use fm3 and 4 to make sure you have enough for 7 laps. average lap about 1:07. I finished with 25 laps and one full lap ahead of everyone else. My second strategy was two stops, same car. You need to run racing medium, FM5-6 to make sure you get eight laps for the first tank and the first refuel, and then nine laps after the second refuel. Average lap time is about 1:10. I finished with 25 laps. Half a lap ahead of everyone else. I briefly test the redbull 2019 I think it will work but I didn't finish it. My last run was with R92CP. soft, fm6, 2 stops. The sun was much harder to do. You have to time it to finish just after 30 minutes. If you finish earlier then you have to do another lap. If you do that, then you have to be even more conservative with fuel. You run the risk of being too slow. I did make a few mistakes so I could have been several seconds faster. I tried SRT ROAD CAR. At 950 pp I was too slow. I couldn't do faster than 1:13 per lap. I will try other gr1 cars next. submitted by Treebear_Hunter to granturismo [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 07:51 StatisticianGreat514 CMV: Now that Conservatives are trashing MLK after many years of supporting him, I think it's time for them to admit that they never really liked him the first place.
Caution: Long Post
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is without doubt and still is to this day one of the most influential, powerful, and iconic figures in American history due to his steadfast and nonviolent commitment in the fight for Civil Rights, Equality, and Justice during Jim Crow Segregation in the United States. The highlight of his career as an activist came in 1963 in which he delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech in front of Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in which he envisioned a nation in which his children will be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. This resulted in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to be passed. Even after his assassination in 1968, his legacy inspired many similar Civil Rights Movements around the world.
Today, Martin Luther King, Jr. is hailed by both sides of the American political sphere as a beacon of hope on how to fight for justice and equality for all during turbulent times. But it's the Conservatives who constantly claim that they truly support him and follow his dream, especially in modern times and they've expressed it in a rather whitewashed and partisan fashion. The most obvious being their use of his "I Have a Dream" speech by quoting the one line that has often been cherry-picked and misinterpreted quite a lot in which they judge people not by skin but by their character. The main reason they do this is to give them the appearance that they are colorblind as their way of opposing racism. And in doing so, they consistently criticize Liberals of trying to divide the country into special interest groups and promote favoritism. As a result, they always claim that Dr. King is a Republican, let alone would've been one in this era given his views, along with the fact that he was a Christian. His niece, Alveda King even emphasized it herself.
Some of the ways that Conservatives try to supposedly live up to Dr. King's "colorblind" dream is by opposing supposed "Wokeness", Critical Race Theory, and the practice of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion everywhere. They also express it by opposing Affirmative Action and the use of racial quotas when it comes to applying for schools, universities, and jobs because they believe it causes Reverse Discrimination. In terms of nonviolence, Conservatives express their disapproval of the Black Lives Matter movement. On the basis of Christianity, Conservatives believe that Dr. King supported a fixed moral code as indicated in his Letters from Birmingham Jail since he led with love and not racial hatred by changing the lives of people and not the laws itself, along with the notion of self-sufficiency. Seeing all this, it seems like Conservatives are really desperate to prove how much America has progressed in this post-racial world in order to debunk accusations that it isn't a racist country and that's why they always prop up Dr. King by claiming that they follow his dream and will continue to do so. Well.....up until now.
During this year's Martin Luther King Day, a string of prominent Conservative activists and organizations suddenly turned on him. Starting off with Charlie Kirk of the youth Conservative movement Turning Point USA, who launched a blistering anti-MLK campaign in which he supposedly dispelled the alleged myths surrounding his popularity. He accused Dr. King of being a "bad person" and that his "sainthood will cause Black voters to realize it's being used against them to suppress the individual." He even went further by stating that "we made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s" accusing it as "a way to get rid of the First Amendment". A while ago, the organization marketed the Conservative image of Dr. King when they sold $55 T-Shirts with his name as well as stickers of him with the words "Let Freedom Ring". Kirk was later joined by the Daily Wire's Matt Walsh who accused him of being a "communist". In fact, he railed against Dr. King a few years ago by accusing him of being a Womanizer, Adulterer, Plagiarizer, etc. Coming after Walsh was Human Events editor, conspiracy theorist, and fellow Turning Point USA alumna Jack Posobiec, who labeled Dr. King "a God of the Left" and stating that "the real legacy of the 1960s was enshrining Racial Discrimination and Race Consciousness into the Federal Bureaucracy." And finally, a popular Conservative Twitter account called "EndWokeness" called Dr. King "a Racial Marxist" because he "did not support a Colorblind Meritocracy" after it cited his quote on Wealth Distribution. What's even worse is that even non-White Conservatives hate him. Two examples include a commentator named Vince Everett Ellison and former football player and sports columnist, Jason Whitlock. The latest editions to the lineup of Black Guilt Conservatives, they railed against Dr. King and the passing of the Civil Rights by stating that they worsened the Black community by drifting them away from God into "Democratic Dependency". They even accused him of the same crimes as Walsh did.
With the sudden change in tone and emphasis from the Right against Dr. King, you have to ask yourself why they're doing this and what caused them to believe this way. And this is not an extremist fringe of the Right that some would expect to hear from. All of these are Mainstream Right-Wing Figures who have direct lineage to the GOP, including the current presidential nominee, Donald Trump. That's as Establishment you can get. Their remarks have been criticized by a lot of people from both sides and surprisingly by some Black Conservatives. One of them was Pastor Darrell Scott, a former faith advisor of Trump, who these days, is one of a few Black Conservatives who has been calling out other Black Conservatives for tearing down their own race in order to elevate their status among others, a very notorious habit of them. He criticized Kirk for inspiring a Hitler Youth. Another was Kimberly Klacik, who in 2020, gained viral for her campaign video stating that Black Lives don't matter to Democrats when she was running for Maryland's 7th Congressional District following the death of civil rights leader, Elijah Cummings, who was the incumbent. She criticized Kirk for his remarks stating that his rhetoric will prevent Blacks from voting Republican. Even with that said, there have been instances in which Conservatives themselves have questioned the Civil Rights Act and many of them have been pretty negative. If you check out other Conservative websites and especially here on Reddit, many of their criticisms echo the same sentiments as those Pundits stating that it was unconstitutional and that in infringed on the First Amendment, particularly the Notion of Freedom of Association.
That being said, there is some silver lining to this. Now, that they exposed themselves for what they really of think Dr. King, I think it's time for them to admit that they never really liked him in the first place, let alone understood who he really was and what he really stood for. In fact, they never really liked him at all. All they did was whitewash him and cherry-pick his ideas and speech for own Partisan Agenda. Dr. King constantly talked about the notion of Black Pride and campaigned about the need for Reparations. He also supported Affirmative Action stating in 1965 that "a Society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for the Negro. Dr. King realized that our society was created in a way that managed to disadvantage the many for the benefit the few, and that America's Racial Hierarchy was connected to its Class Hierarchy. He also had political beliefs that manifested through both Racial Reconciliation and Concrete Policy Changes that could help restructure and benefit a divided and unequal nation. This is the reason why he referred to himself as a Democratic Socialist as he wanted a "Radical Redistribution of Economic and Political Power". In fact, he argued that true Equality can only be achieved, not just through legal rights, but through an equal distribution of resources. This is evident when he said “Call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all God’s children.” This is the exact vision that Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders believed in. After all, he did participate in the March on Washington in 1963. In regards to Police Brutality, while Dr. King opposed violent protest, he did acknowledge that a riot is the language of the Unheard and that it came from a place of Desperation. In fact, in his "I Have a Dream" Speech, he stated that Blacks could "never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the Victim of the Unspeakable Horrors of Police Brutality." After all, he was hounded by the FBI, was called a Communist, broke the law in protest of race-based Segregation and Violence, was thrown in jail, advocated Protests and Sit-Ins, opposed White Rule of Society, and was assassinated for his Race and his views on Race. Regarding the quote about the Content of Character from said speech, Dr. King's daughter, Bernice King stated that using solely that quote diminishes the purpose of the entire speech because her father's dream and work included "eradicating Racism, not ignoring it."
If anything, this goes to show that is Dr. King were around today, he would be heavily criticized for being Woke, politically correct, a Communist, a Race Hustler, and a member of the Radical Left. And we all know that the Right hates those ideologies passionately. But here's the thing, he never considered himself a Democrat, let alone a Republican. He was an Independent as he felt that both parties are the same. And reducing his legacy to a single quote diminishes the gains that he fought for and believed in. This especially goes to a lot of Conservatives out there who claim to follow his lead using that quote because they interpret them in a way that benefits them today than how he meant them back then. For you to claim that he didn't care about Skin Color is like saying Susan B. Anthony didn't care about Gender. And to those Conservatives who now hate him, including Black, I hope you're OK with people getting treated unfairly, including your own. Who knew being seen as an Equal is a Negative in your eyes.

2024.05.14 07:44 MountStupendous How many Corolla Hatchbacks are sold compared to Sedans in the USA? Is it different in other regions?
| While performing a search on Cars dot com for new Corolla Hatchbacks within 150 miles of me (Florida), I noticed that the number of hatchbacks for sale were less than 2% of all Corollas available for sale. There are 18 within 150 miles. There are 9 GR Corollas in that same range. Is our market share really that small, or are the hatches less likely to be sold as inventory cars? How much less time do hatchbacks spend on dealer lots, if any? How much of the difference is due to the increased popularity of the Hatchback and the declining popularity of the Sedan? submitted by MountStupendous to CorollaHatchback [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 07:41 k_kkaleb AITAH for telling my friend I won’t put my name on their mortgage
AM I TAH?
So for starters my best friend from kindergarten is mad at me. 19 years of friendship.
They recently started “ghosting me” (ignoring my messages/phone calls) this isn’t nothing out of the usual as she does have a mental disorder (BPD) we call it their “going rouge” episodes so I didn’t think much of it. They usually snap out of it within a month or so. Well it was well over 6 months and they’ve been active on fb, snap, and everything else. Ignoring my meme tags. That’s never been like them before. So I messaged and asked if they were seriously ok, and if I did something to make them mad… well I got a long message…
They said there was 2 main reasons why they weren’t talking to me anymore.
They said I was “acting better” than them bc I told them my car was 30,000 dollars more than theirs… just wait here me out.. they got a car that was a fraction of the cost of mine (nothing wrong with that at all) but they were crying to me on the phone when it had broke down and said they thought maybe it was a bad decision. I tried to reassure them that just because it may break down it’s cheaper to fix than buying a new one. As they claim they don’t want a huge car payment.
A brief explanation my car was 30,000 and it has had almost 9,000 dollars of warranty work done. (Thank god for extended warranties) My car has been in the shop more than I had it.
As they was crying to me overthinking their decision I tried to reassure them that hey, all cars break down. “My car was 30,000 and broke down so many times at least you will have way less than that put into your car after you get it fixed. (Their car needed a new head gasket). They claim I was trying to make it seem like mine was more expensive than theirs
I’m not saying this to be mean at all because I truly have tried to work with them with their diagnosis. But All our lives they’ve always made everything a competition. They’ve lived with a narcissist and their parent was diagnosed with it.
Their second reason to “ghost me” was recently they and their partner were looking at buying a house. The house next to me became up for sale. We both thought it would be a perfect idea. (Not knowing the price) They wanted me to ask the realtor how much they wanted for it. Come to find out it’s over quarter of a million dollar house. With 40+ acres. They advised me both of their credit aren’t the greatest and asked if I could put my name on the loan with them as my credit is almost near perfect and If I could help them with a down payment. (They know I have a good chunck saved up for when I buy a home)
I told them I was not comfortable doing it as I don’t even have my own home yet, and when I do go to buy my home it will show I already own a home. (Their home) I advised them that getting a mortgage is harder than just going to a bank and getting approved for an absurd amount as the average houses in our area go for 60-90k (we live in a very small run down town) they are both just starting out, no kids and this house is a 4 bedroom 3 bath house. I told them I don’t know if the bank would even qualify all 3 of us combined.
I make 40,000 a year. 14 an hour. I work OVERTIME. Almost 70 hours a week. 66 hours regularly. More if I get called in on call.. I am single and asexual (a little tmi but it matters here) I do not plan on having a partner in the future. So I will be a one income person. So I need to save up as much as I can now so I will be able to afford my mortgage with a good down payment when time comes. Their significant other makes 15+ and they make 14+ an hour. More than double what I make, they both live with their parents with hardly any bills… (some but not to the point they shouldn’t be able to save) I have bills, car payment, drive a lot for work I spend a lot in gas and pay rent. Neither of them have major bills.
They’re seriously mad at me for telling them I can’t risk not being able to afford to live comfortably. I can’t take that risk. We grew up and still live in the 5th poorest county in our state. We all got lucky to get good jobs as most around here are minimum wage jobs. I seriously do not want to grow up in poverty like we did growing up. It may sound silly but my goal in life is to own my own home and be somewhat financially stable and not have to live off the government to survive as all 3 of us had to do growing up. That is my ONLY goal in life.
In my closing statement I really love them to death. We literally grew up together. Our families are so bonded we are all a family. It hurts me they are not talking to me because “I made my self look better than them” and “I made it seem like they won’t go anywhere in life” I’ve NEVER thought that at all in my life. I AM their biggest supporter. We see our selves siblings. I’m hoping this is just something we can get over.
So am I the asshole for trying to comfort them letting them know even if they fix their car it’s still the best route as all cars can have major break downs like mine, and for telling them no for putting my name on a mortgage that wouldn’t even be my home?

2024.05.14 07:28 Snoo24183 12 year slump
45f and 46m I’ve known my husband for 13 years. We were friends / coworkers the first year. We lived together for a year and were engaged for 2 years. We have been married 9 years this year. The first seven years of our relationship we owned a business together and were a power couple. Very very busy.
I had joint custody of my boys, and year five I got full custody and they moved in permanently. We closed our business down with COViD and moved from a large city to a small town in a new state. My husband (and oldest son) (kinda) started a car related painting business. The chemicals make me sick so I am not involved in anything business related anymore.
We live separate lives now, it feels. He’s off making his business grow and is really into cars and racing. I am not. I am an Environmental Scientist and burnouts just don’t do it for me.
Plus… He had not mentioned anything about cars while we were in the radio and club business for eight years.
Now suddenly it’s his life long dream. I claim midlife crisis.
I feel left out. I feel like we could have done another business together. Something we both liked.
I don’t resent him for being able to go do something cool with the money we saved, and I got a house. But. I’m a business woman. Not Betty Crocker homemaker. I mean, I am. I once was in my first marriage. And I do a fantastic job at household management and raising kids, dogs and husbands. But I don’t want to do it again. And the youngest is 16.5. He is planning on leaving for college in the big city in a few years. I’m almost an empty nester.
This is when we should be building decades together with no distractions but grandbabies.
But we don’t want to do the same things. We both changed, but not to the point that we don’t have common interests. But nothing seems fun.
He spends all his time at work or worrying about work. He hasn’t taken me on a date in over a year. I quit planning date night and told him it was his turn. He’s never been good at that stuff. But I’ve stopped caring. I’m tired of always “being the one” to do everything.
What’s with this slump? How do we get out.

2024.05.14 07:24 RinkyDink1629 How can I, as a team lead, make night shift more bearable for everyone/run more efficiently?
I would like to start off by saying I might become a team lead soon. Yes I know these are big goals for someone who is just a team lead, but I like to set my sights high. If that happens, or even if not, I would like to make my mark by making night shift run more smoothly/make it more bearable for the higher leads and team members as well.
What is the problem?
- I have noticed that day shift goes about as well as can be expected, considering everyone must be good at their jobs or else we’ll sink and metaphorically drown. However, my qualm with night shift’s inefficiency might lend a hand to improving the rest as well.
- The problem with night shift, or so I assume, is that the staff is mostly highschool kids who (probably) don’t have to pay rent & have been drained from school prior to clocking in. Most of the time, as our store’s location is located in a very busy area (made $12.4m last year) centered near many other businesses and schools— we get SLAMMED with no hopes of running the shift efficiently. There’s the school rush, dinner rush, and pre-close rush…and sometimes they all blend together too.
- Some resulting issues include:
- Dining room being a mess because there’s only one person and it gets crazy busy at night; but we get comparable rushes in the day and people often manage DR by themselves. This goes back to general cleanliness within the whole restaurant.
- People forgetting to stock their own areas/walking away without readying themselves/others for the next rush. This makes it far harder for the main stocker to handle their job, and they are already typically someone who is not acclimated to stocking since common stockers call out/have things come up that night. Must we train people on stocking more?
- Order accuracy, and again why is this a far more common issue at night rather than day? We have several replacement orders made at night so there is plenty to be fixed.
- I’m unsure if the main issue is pre-existing fatigue, supremely how busy we are, or just plain apathy by most of the staff. Would it be wrong to assume that? :0
Why is it my goal?
- Ultimately my goal is to lessen the mental/physical workload on the team as a whole, but hopefully for other leads too because that will result in better team treatment/management.
- If we’re talking results that look good for me/the store as a whole (I GUESS😹)— a generally smoother night shift could lead to shorter wait times which would equate to more sales since more customers would be inclined to stop by due to speedy service.
- If I had to consolidate my overall goals into three core values, Chick-Fil-A’s winning heart strategy says it best:
- Clean & Safe Environment
- Fast & Accurate Service
- Genuine Hospitality
Some Ideas
- I could assign a position where a particularly skilled person floats between dining room and a secondary stocking position.
- Assign leaders to specific parts of the restaurant each night.
- I.e. “Jeff” would be in charge of iPads, which means he’s having the other fellas sequence the cars correctly (we have a two lane DT which merges into one line, yes it’s difficult). So on and so forth for Front Counter and the Drive Thru interior.
What I’m asking of you guys is, how can I reach this goal? What are some things you do in your store to make things run more smoothly in general, not even just at night? Are there some things about my restaurant you’re curious about that could help you answer my request?

2024.05.14 07:24 ZeldaTheOuchMouse My idea for an open world crime based action adventure game:
Heres my idea for an open world crime based action adventure game:
I want a modern open world game with modern graphics, modern physics, driving and combat mechanics, the whole 9 yards, but it takes place in New Orleans LA in the Early 2000’s, the game would have hundreds and hundreds of licensed cars, licensed songs ALL period correct and as many licensed brands as i can get in the game to make the setting more resemble real life, we’ve seen so many fantasy brands and fake cities and companies based off real life companies and i want to change that, i want all electronics of the era to be 100% accessible and usable in the game, everything from Motorola Razr’s, PDA’s, Laptops and The Internet in FULL early 2000’s style, Alpine and Sony X-Plod Car Headunits etc
Im going to say this now: there would be ZERO references or mentions of Hurricane Katrina in this game, the timeline would be 2002 to Summer 2005 before Katrina, Katrina wouldn’t be mentioned as it wouldn’t exist
The story is about a young transgender woman in her 20’s who lives in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, she drives a beat up 80’s-Early 90’s Pontiac at the start of the game and lives with her sister, at the beginning of the game nobody respects her, misgenders her and deadnames her, the idea is to hit the nail on the head with how trans people are treated on a daily basis, she progresses through the underground hustling ranks of New Orleans after being offered a job and proves to be someone who will go to great lengths to get the job done, everything from street racing in a scene that fully captures Early 2000’s tuner culture, winning cars in pinkslip races, shootouts from deals gone bad in nightclubs, encounters with corrupt police officers etc, at the end of the game shes a wealthy kingpin in the city and has earned the respect of mostly everyone and everyone speaks highly of her, i also want to slip in alot of little references to games and franchises i love like Earthbound, Clock Tower, Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Bad Boys, Need For Speed etc and make the user interface and menus feel like its from the Early 2000’s but also pay homage and respect to New Orleans Mardi Gras and jazz culture and for the world to be crammed full of life with NPC’s, animals, weather, random events, random encounters and interactions and basically how it would be in real life
The map i want to be the most accurate virtual recreation of New Orleans ever done just circa 2002-2005, i want as many enterable interiors in the game as possible, i want to include everything from Jazzland Theme Park, the Bayou areas, Lake Pontchatrain, East New Orleans, The SuperDome, the then New Orleans Arena next door, Shopping Malls, Car Dealerships for each brand in the game, Upper class Neighborhoods, Trailer Parks, Nightclubs, bars and of course the French quarter and Canal Street
I also want to take customization to a whole new level, give a Sims like ability to customize, furnish and build your home and character however you like, and of course the Early 2000’s fashion will be in full swing here, i want the most in-depth car customization of any game ever, its the early 2000’s after all, i want body kits, bumpers, hoods, wings, headlights and tail lights, the ability to customize the headunit in your car, put subwoofers in the trunk, rims, spinners, donks, lambo doors, underglow and of course in depth performance upgrades ALL parts be name brand, like Bomex body kits, TYC tail lights, JL Audio Amps, Subwoofers, Lowenhart, Lexani, Asanti, DUB and TIS rims, APR aluminum wings etc, i basically want to make the customization in Need For Speed Underground 2 look like a mobile game
And the car list, i want to have over 600 fully licensed cars in the game minimum and be fully customizable down to every single part, since the plot of the game starts in 2002 and ends in 2005, i want NOTHING newer than 2006 in the game
Cadillac Escalade, Hummer H2 and Chrysler 300C are a must, but i also want to have the 99-04 Mustang, both V6 and GT, Ferrari 360 Modena, Spider and Challenge Stradale, Ferrari 550, Lamborghini Murcièlago and Gallardo, but also include more common lesser loved cars like the Chevy Cavalier, Pontiac Sunfire, Pontiac Grand Am, Geo Metro, Dodge Neon, Chrysler Concorde, Chevy Celebrity, Ford Taurus etc, and of course i’ll have bikes, boats, planes, helicopters and all other types of vehicles
Yeah its a GTA/Saints Row type game, but i want to raise the bar, push boundaries and do something different thats never been done before

2024.05.14 07:22 gerryomo1 car was listed at $28,888 but it was sold at $39,400 to me
my girlfriend wanted to buy herself a new(er) used car, 2020 Acura mdx. The dealership provided her with a CARFAX with all the information including the dealers price of $28,888… she figured that if she put down 19K as a downpayment, she would only pay roughly $220-$250 a month to pay the remaining balance… turns out the car was sold to her at $39,400 and after all the fees, sales tax etc, it came out to $43,056… after her downpayment of $19,000… the remaining balance was $24,056… she has amazing credit, but the apr given to her was 14.47% = $14,339… so she has to pay $457 for 84 months for a car that was sold to her not as advertised.
She signed the contract and there’s no trace of that $28,888 advertised price on there but I do have the CARFAX document that was given to her showing that price.. What should we do as I feel like she got played by this dealership?. This is highway robbery for a car that was used, 33K miles, and minor damages
