2024.05.15 12:00 ZealousidealLoad4080 Parent hate it when you stand up for yourself both outside and inside the family?

I am sorry about this, but I am wondering why our parents want to raise us to be doormats both at home and in society? We are taught that we are problematic when we stand up for ourselves. For example, when we are bullied at school, they teach us to stay silent and not respond when the bullies hurl insults at us. Similarly, when we are wronged at work or accused of something we didn't do, we are taught to stay silent and accept it rather than stand up for ourselves.
As a kid, I was stubborn. When anyone insulted me or accused me of something I didn't do, I would always stand up for myself and explain my situation. My parents, on the other hand, would scold me, telling me how terrible and problematic I was. They would say that I was only young and that when I got older, no one would want to be around me. They called me problematic for standing up for myself, even though the other person was the perpetrator. I was wrong for standing up and responding to them.
The same thing happened at home. My mum would accuse me of terrible things that were untrue, like being arrogant, thinking I was better than everyone else, or trying to flirt with men and being desperate for male attention. I would argue with her, insisting that it was not the case, but it would go around in circles for hours, with her saying I was problematic and putting pressure on her. She was the one accusing me of something I was not, yet she expected me to accept it.
The situation that prompt her to say I was trying to flirt with men is because I have social anxiety especially around the opposite gender and tend to be very akward and stiff and my body language is abnormal and I tend to blush alot around she accuse me of this as being flirty. Even though those men would always tell this is not the case and one of them instantly picked up on the fact I had Social anxiety and even ask me about it. None of them ever thought once I was flirting with them. the same is when I am around friend and they have partner I am worried that their partner might misunderstand because of my body language or I might do or say something that them misunderstand that I am trying to flirt with them. I would tell this to my friend about this problem and my friend would tell me it is just my anxiety causing me to fear this thing and it is in my mind. My friend understand me yet when I tell my mum this she would accuse me as being deperate and angry that I did"nt have a partner which is why I am having these thoughr and worries and deep down I want to steal my friend's boyfriend which is not true. I also have ocd and deal with intrusive thoughts as well which I told my friend about me fearing saying inapproiate things and my compulsipn when I have these thoughts. my friend are more understanding yet when I tell my mum about these thing she would blame me saying I am a bad person and deep down I have these desire which is why I have these thought which are not true. This cause argument that goes round and round with her accusing me of something I am not and when I try to explain she call me problematic and putting pressure onto her. It is like she feel like she and other people can insult me and are terrible people yet when I stand up for myself I am the one who is wrong instead I should allow those people to throw insult at me and take it. She told by doing this I am not the person creating problem and stress for other people.
Being raised in a western world we are taught to speak up and encouraged to when something is not right both from school with teachers and mentor yet at home I am force to do things diffrently. not the mention my parent are buddhist and even though people expect Buddhist to be nice and kind they are the opposite they treat their siblings the same ways as well especially my mum she and her sister would insult their sibling and when their sibling stand up for themself they would attack them with Buddhist phrase accusing that sibling as the bad person for reacting. It is so sick and not what Buddhism is. This the part that upset me the most because no one can relate most people who have toxic religious parent are Christian,Catholic or Muslim not have once have I heard someone raise as buddhism household come from a toxic background as me. Sorry I feel I need to vent about this since I gotten into an argument just now about me standing up for myself so I feel I need to vent to someone.

2024.05.15 11:27 Howling-wolf-7198 What I know about Xinjiang/Uyghur

Disclaimer: I am Chinese and cannot speak or read Uyghur. Xinjiang is a vast land, and the online communication of residents is strictly controlled, so even people from different regions are unaware of the specific situation in other regions, and there are significant differences between different regions. I tried to cross validate using sources from different ethnic groups as much as possible, but my language definitely caused some bias in my sampling.
There is a long-term tense relation between local ethnic groups, especially between the Han and Uyghur ethnic groups. A local Han who sympathized with the Uyghur told me that his American friend who visited described it as "racial segregation, and it was spontaneous among people.".
Other ethnic minorities also have resentment towards Uyghur people due to Uyghur nationalism. They also suffered from repression, although not as severe as the Uyghurs. Some blame the government, while others blame the Uyghurs.
Local Han generally believe this is what Uyghurs deserve. Mainland Chinese are generally unaware of this matter due to censorship, but no hostility towards Uyghurs.
Not all, but there are definitely some events that meet the criteria for terrorist attacks. It also involves indiscriminate attacks on other ethnic minorities and Uyghur who do not agree with them.
CPC actually tries to conceal these events as much as possible. If it is really impossible to conceal, their public deaths are much less than what actually happened, whether the deceased were Han Chinese, attacked Uyghurs, or attackers. The public parts are due to the controversy caused by the discovery of large-scale detention.
What other separatists did was also concealed as much as possible. CPC seems to primarily aim to avoid resentment towards the Uyghurs as a whole among the majority of people in China, and pretend its rule is prosperous and unshakable.
A local Hui who have been hacked by terrorists before:
If officials claim nothing happened, means manything happened. If officials claim one or two people died, means a group of people have died. If officials claim thirty people died, means a village has disappeared.
Separatists and CCP went to war, and the people suffered.
Uyghurs mainly reside in the southern Xinjiang region and are mainly poor farmers. Most areas in southern Xinjiang are mainly Uyghur, although Han immigrants have appeared in urban areas in the past two decades. Before the crackdown, a rural Uyghur may have never seen any native Chinese speakers in their lifetime. When I visited there last year, most adult Uyghurs can't speak Chinese at all, and most who speak fluent Chinese are businessperson. I visited there with the company of a local Uyghur friend(abbreviated as T). Most of the repression was lifted in 2021, and what I saw was a mild version:
Small mosques are demolished or sealed off. The landmark mosques has been preserved, but locals dare not enter because it poses a risk of getting them into trouble. Inside are mainly tourists. All Arabic slogans have been covered or replaced with Uyghur versions. Halal symbols are prohibited. Some tourists are Uyghurs from northern Xinjiang. They have greater freedom. Locals are not allowed to wear Ḥijāb or grow large beards. Uyghur ethnic clothing without religious significance is also taboo. The stores sell them, but only for tourists. All cutting tools on the street are restricted to fixed objects with iron chains. Economic decline. Not many locals consume. During the period of severe repression, people had no income. Even civil servants are owed wages by the government due to financial constraints. Before 2017, schools almost exclusively taught Uyghur language, and local teachers were also Uyghurs who did not speak Chinese. Now it's almost pure Chinese. T is worried about the hidden camera when speaking. All taxis have prominent cameras. All polices are Uyghur. T claims that after 2021, who is visible on the streets is not police, but just security guard disguised. The real police are either undercover or hiding. All signs are bilingual or in Chinese. Simple Uyghur language signs are prohibited. Ethnicity can be distinguished by appearance. When others notice that we are a mixed ethnic team, they will be surprised.
The riots were mainly initiated by Uyghurs from rural areas in southern Xinjiang. This place has been subjected to the most severe repression.
The total population of Uyghurs is over 10 million. No one can be certain how many had entered the camp. They don't have an interconnected database for this. I read a local official privately claiming that perhaps 500,000 are a close number. When I mentioned that Western media claimed the number was one million, and T felt it was an underestimate. Another Uyghur from a northern city think this is an exaggeration.
As of now, Uyghurs, even if living in mainland China, dare not post too many opinions on these matters through online. Others lives Xinjiang cannot either. When they post content that the local government deems inappropriate, they may be knocked on and asked to delete their posts. This is highly unlikely to happen in other regions.
A local programmer told me, if the photos you take accidentally include any part of camps, when it is post online, it would disappear directly.
In the past few years, the density of Uyghur people visible in the inland has significantly increased. Young people from various ethnic groups in Xinjiang seem to be generally trying to leave Xinjiang due to limited freedom and insufficient income. Riots and repression have both led to loss of the Han population. A resident of Urumqi told me that the actual population here may only be half of what is recorded on paper. Xinjiang government is attempting to recruit Han Chinese from mainland China to settle down.
In mainland, when reside in hotels, Uyghurs will be registered by the police. Only specific qualified hotels are allowed to accept them. Several male Uyghurs said they may have been raided and inspected by the police at night.
Uyghurs have different opinions. I do know three Uyghurs clearly express that CPC's suppression is generally good, although they still complain. This includes T, whose father was once detained in a camp. I don't know the proportion of different opinions. The random Uyghurs themselves seem unclear about this too.
The camp seems to have different levels. My data point from Uyghur in rural area of southern Xinjiang and specifically, there was indeed a terrorist attack carried out by the residents from this town, so this is the most extreme situation. By T, camp and repression were described as:
In 2017, if you are an adult male and not in school or college, likely to enter a camp. This is about 80% of men. It almost came to an end after September 2019. Two thirds of them had returned. (The rest are mainly sentenced, with a few deaths) Pure torment. Later, the government was afraid of the West, and people gained meat in their diet and skill training. (about diet, I explain as the financial difficulties faced by the Xinjiang government. After the camps attracted international attention, they received more funding from the central government.)
Government know they just need to persuade the househead. Women and children will obey him. Many excuses be used to get you into the camp. Sometimes it's intentional to provoke you, and when conflicts occur, they tell you that your viewpoint is flawed (needs to be modified). They will inquire and analyze from neighbors what you have done before and recently. If you lie, they will find out. TBH, Han cadres are most rational. The main ones bullying us are Uyghur cadres.
Submissive people were released after one or two years. Disobedient people were sentenced to prison. Who completely disobeys had died. There are an average of 400 families in the village. They would receive seven or eight corpses from the camp. Those sentenced families have had difficult times. Only women and two children in the family, difficult to survive. Women are easily bullied, children do not obey her, wander around and do not help her with work. The villagers did nothing wrong. My father is not interested in religion. When he returned from the camp, he spoke Chinese more fluently than me. Outsiders recruiting locals for terrorist attacks, then they fled, and locals were retaliated against. Many people here are uneducated. They are easily deceived by outsiders (to create a terrorist attack/riot). This is brainwashing to prevent them from being deceived by outsiders. I hate those outsiders. They have caused many families to break down, and give us Uyghurs a bad reputation. Islam is good, distorted by these people. I dislike the local extremist religion before. I was not even allowed to sing.
He described the welfare policy:
The government has established new villages. You only need to pay a small fee to move over. Most of the expenses are subsidized by the government. They have carried out infrastructure construction. Our living environment has improved a lot. But the economy has not been developed, and our income has not increased. If your family is considered trustworthy, you may be helped to start a business in mainland. If someone is sentenced, their family will receive financial assistance.
He is a firsthand witness to the terrorist attack that occurred locally:
This has been reported as the death of thirty Hans. It's completely different. Terrorists intercepted the road and killed all Han trapped in the convoy. The Uyghur who resisted them were also killed. The actual number of deaths is over a thousand. I can't believe my childhood friends would kill people. The next day, the tank arrived at our village. All participants had been captured. The rest of us were frequently visited by cadres. Terrorists intercept convoys by chopping down trees. So the government forced the people to cut down the trees next to the road a few years ago.

2024.05.15 11:25 Anteatereatingant The Obsession With "MiNDSeTt"

As someone who teaches concrete skills (I'm a language teacher, in case anyone wondered), the coaching industry's obsession with "mIndSeTt" weirded me out from the get-go.
I thought "what IS it with those people and their constant rambling about MindSEt, when most of them don't even have psych degrees?! Hell, the psychologists I know don't talk about it half as much as the 'coaches.'"
Eventually, it dawned on me: it's the perfect grift. Think about it:
1. they don't have to provide anything concrete.
People like me need to, you know...be fluent in the languages we teach, and competent teachers. We need a CV that demonstrates a track record of getting students from A to B2. If you're a personal trainer, you need to demonstrate you can get, and have gotten, people to lose X weight, improve Y metric of their fitness.
And so on; most professions need real skills and potentially even real qualifications beyond "shameless self-promotion" and "the ability to memorize and regurgitate feelgoodsy fortune-cookie platitudes". Pretty much only in "coaching" can any rando with zero proof of concept saunter in and decide to call themselves a pro or "expert". So it makes sense that it attracts people with that magical thinking / get-rich-quick personality style, who think they've discovered the magic loophole to print free money. You know...
1. call yourself "coach" or "expert"
2. charge a buttload for a bit of fortune-cookie platitudes and glorified motivational speaking
3. blame the clients' "miNDsETt" when they don't get the promised results
4. PROFIT!
2. it builds in a failsafe.
You didn't get the results they promised? Well, that must be your MiiinDSSeTt. After all, you 'know' it's 99% MIndSet - they groomed you to believe this, well before you even bought. And since MiNdSeYuTT is an unfalsifiable claim, it gives them a convenient way out; after all, it's pretty hard to conclusively prove it wasn't your MUyYIndSYEt that got in the way of your success. There is no Mindset-O-Meter we can use to conclusively prove what they did or didn't upgrade or shift.
It's about as hard as conclusively proving it wasn't the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or Karma, or any other invisible boogeyman. So, party time for the "coaches"! They get to keep selling abstract fluff, blame the customer when it doesn't work, and laugh all the way to the bank.
...That's the dream, at least. If you've been around those people you know that it's mostly wishful thinking because most of them are broke and just desperately hoping they can fake it 'till they make it. Another reason to keep pushing the "mindset" angle: they want to feel like they've got a fighting chance despite their lack of real skills, or qualifications, or proof of concept.
That's my armchair diagnosis. What's your experience with that obsession?

Pros:
Cons:

Relative Care

When I decided to learn Swedish, I knew it would be challenging yet rewarding. After two years, I'm thrilled to share how I went from a beginner to a B1 proficiency level using italki. My journey began with a fascination for Sweden's culture, starting with only basic phrases like "hej" (hello) and "tack" (thank you). I chose Italki because they have a huge bunch of teachers who fit you personalized needs. I work with one teacher focusing on speaking; learning grammar or writing with another teacher
So far, I've visited sewden 3 times and also I went to Finland, Norway, Denmark, somehow I can understand easy ones in Norway. Language is more than language itself, keep doing one thing for many years, it's not gonna be easy

2024.05.15 08:31 yipreal Where are those AI tools most effective?

Teachers of Reddit, where do you believe these AI tools (ChatGPT and others) can make the most difference? I am asking in terms of education levels (elementary, middle school, high school, college/uni) and subjects (English/language, art/literature, STEM, social studies, others).

USC isn't a target for me, but I want to know what you guys think. I've cemented CS as my major. Also, if there are any ideas for what schools I should target please tell me. I'd appreciate recommendations of any kind relating to how I can strengthen my profile in the coming months.

As a final and hopefully humble note, I have been told by many people that I am a very good writer, including past English teachers, friends, family, and random classmates. I'm hoping that my essays can carry me to victory.

2024.05.15 07:31 Ok-Taste-9688 Looking for a travel destination for 3 to 6 weeks for a guy with an injured knee and that is revovering from a breakup

Hey
I got a knee injury (ACL) about a year ago and I had an operation on february 14th. The doctor told me no change of direction or running for another 3 months. But I can walk well and hike as long as it's not risky for my knee. I can walk around 10-15km without a problem right now, but nothing with high altitude and risky ground.
Since I am a gym teacher, I can't go back to work for another 2 months. Also, me and my girlfriend just broke up about a montg ago so I was thinking it would be a great time to travel😅 Let's say I am not at my best right now. Injured, no job, no girlfriend and no social since my social is mostly at work or in sports and I can't work or play sport right now.
So I am looking for a place to travel to have fun. I would love a country that is safe and cheap. I don't really have a budget, but 1500-2000$ a month would be my maximum. I speak only french and english. I would love to learn a little bit of the language of the destination, but it is a bit late for that. Ideally, not a destination with high mountains with a lot of hikings. That could be for another trip!
So here is a recap :
Thanks for the help!

2024.05.15 06:51 AsukaNGE02 Trying to figure out a career path

Hey everyone! So I'm in a bit of a situation where it feels like I have completely missed the bus on ever going to school. I never figured out what I wanted to be after highschool. I was a terrible student and didn't care to do any work. There were a few teachers that made learning fun, the rest were just there to collect a paycheck. It wasn't until last spring where I was so close to going to school. I was going to take programming and maybe go into cyber security for a few reasons. Working remote means I could move any where I want, I enjoy working with computers and it being in demand. However once the tech layoffs started to happen I completely gave up and withdrew my application.
So now here we are, I'm about to turn 30 and I fear I am stuck in a dead end job. I started this job last summer because it had the perfect hours for me to balance with school. Within a year I have been promoted to both an Administrator and Manager, the highest it can get within the company. This is not what I want my end goal to be. I've taken so many of the myers briggs or career tests and I've hated every result that it gave me. I've also tried a few different trades and hated that too.
The only other thing I would consider going to school for would be an English teacher in a foreign country. It checks off all the boxes that I have. I love learning new languages and getting to know the culture, I want to move out of my current country and I love teaching/training people new concepts. I've talked to a lot of people around the world through language exchange and a lot have talked about how the English teachers are awful in their country, so I've had it in the back of my mind, maybe I could make a difference? The major issue with this is that I don't think I have 4 years to sink into getting a Bachelor's degree. I know there's those courses that you can take where it's like, you pay $2000 for so many weeks of training and then you get a certificate, but don't most schools want a Bachelor's degree?
I hated highschool with a passion and never studied. Once I started learning a new language, I had so much motivation to keep studying and working hard to memorize the language. Which is exactly why I think I would crush it if I ever went back to school. I had a 54% average in high school, but I have no doubt in my mind I could break 90% in college.
Lastly, one final reason that's holding me back from going to school, is wasting money on one semester and then moving anyway. My parents are also looking to move as soon as next year and since this job doesn't have enough hours, I can't afford to live on my own, so I'd probably move with them. What should I do?

2024.05.15 06:38 iWantFUmoney Forgive me for I have signed a new contract

I have been teaching since 2005, and was a tutor (I helped other students in Japanese studies) for an additional 2.5 years. Teaching is all that I know for the most part, and I have never really put thought into signing a new contract for the next 2 years. However, just before the annoying beer named virus took over, I had started to feel like the place I am in was no bueno. There was as noticeable change in the "quality" of the students. They started to show more open hostility, disrespect, and defiance towards the teachers.
In my school in particular I am a foreign language and ESL teacher on top of being a gen ed teacher, and as much as I don't like it I have classes over multiple grades at the same time. Post beer, the school really changed. It was like admin and education department used that down time to mess up everything, the class times changed, the schedules changed, the school rules changed, it got worse and worse.
Also during this time a lot of the parents too stock in how well their children were actually doing in school versus what the teachers were saying (this is a semi-private schools so there is a higher incentive to smudge how well the children are doing). This led to a lot of the good children being removed from the school for better places, or for cheaper places (why pay so much if the quality isn't there), or they just moved away to a different city.
So to fill those spots the school did massive open enrollment drives and stalked the school with children who ... honestly they need special education to help them. Don't take this the wrong way, we had a lot of children who have ADD ADHD or were autistic, I am neurodiverse myself so I never really had issues with those kids after we learned a pattern that worked for them. These days, we have more neurodivergent children who have behavioral issues, who have a hard time maintaining themselves in the classrooms, but they can be managed with the right efforts (most of them).
The real problem are the children who come from real money families that zero respect, zero manners, zero self control, and zero drive to learn. At the beginning of this year I signed a new one year contract because, I can no longer see myself working in this school. Daily I am met with the hours of effort I put in the design of my lessons being turned to waste, the daily barrage of students screaming at me because they can't for the life of them talk with a normal voice volume, the daily frustrations of having to repeat everything in two languages 10 times because in neither language do they pay attention, I am tired of not being able to reuse lessons that were massive hits with the children in previous years because the child now don't have the language abilities or the practical abilities to do the work and the amount of time it takes to reduce, simplify, and remake the lesson is wasted because it no longer has the original meaning behind why they were doing it.
I am so tired of weak management, unhelpful administration, out of touch parents, and openly hostile or dismissive coworkers. Why did I sign a new contract, because I wasn't prepared to leave yet, I wasn't prepared for the move, and I have no idea what to do other than teaching and this school has made me hate being a teacher. Forgive me for I have signed a new contract when I am mentally checked out now. I will continue to do my work to standard, but I am tired of burning myself out to make stellar lessons to have them shat on.
Thank you for letting me rant.

2024.05.15 06:13 Im_just_a_petty_gurl AITA for dumping all of my friends for my boyfriend?

Hi I'm 20F and this happened around 3 years ago. For proper context I will be explaining about my "friends" first. I'm sorry that this is a very longgghg one but I needed to get it out of my chest. Also forgive me for any grammatical mistakes as English is not my first language. I'll start with my 6 year long ex bestie Bee, in short she was a huge pick me. Since the beginning she used to insult me infront of boys to make herself look good. I didn't really realise it back then because I thought that's what friends do. She literally used to drag me around a bunch of boys and would call me fat, crooked legged and eagle nosed. Even my mom and my brother kept asking me to break the friendship but I was too afraid thinking I'll be alone. I always had her back though, she used to come to me crying if she's facing any issues in her life and I was there for her. I started my college around COVID time so the friends I made were through online meetings. Once we all met, we hit it off. It was really great!. My best friend in college was a guy named Shawn. We were really close and one day he came up to me and said "I like someone", me being me started investing who it could be. Then a girl named Penny from our friend group told me that Shawn had told her "someone likes you". I was like YESS I found it! And I did my part and now they are a couple. I was soo happy. After a month or so he came to me and said he wants to break up cuz she's too controlling and jealous and I took her side because I kinda understood her since he was still talking to his ex. It became too frequent though and I just told him do as you please. And one more important thing is her family is extremely strict like she can't even talk to a guy. So in college I used to sit in between them like they asked me to do that teachers don't doubt anything and complain to her parents. But the issue was I had to be around them the entire day and be ignored by them. I didn't mind at first but it got frustrating as time passed. I would try talking to them and they would just ignore me but they didn't want me to sit away from them either. The moment we walked out of college they would walk away from me leaving me alone. Next Anne and Chris. Mann are they messy. Anne had lots of boyfriends but we did not know it back then when we used to talk to her. Chris is a senior who proposed to Anne and she accepted it. One day a random guy texted me and asked me Anne's contact details and I refused to give it. He then sent me the photos of her kissing another guy. I blocked him and texted Anne about this and she accepted she was cheating on Chris. But Chris, Penny, Shawn and me were really close at this point. I told Chris about this and he confronted her, he said when she went to visit her hometown, she asked for a break and that's when the cheating happened and when she came back to City she dumped that guy from village and got back with Chris. Guess what, Anne went to Village again and she ghosted Chris. Chris started texting my then bestie Bee. I told both of them not to grow feelings towards eachother or to talk that much because I knew Chris only wanted to get back at Anne and whereas Bee would use Chris as timepass. I mean yeah it's their life but only I knew this about both of them. They were acting serious and both of them were my friends, i couldn't let them do this to eachother. Well they ignored me. They did complain about eachother a lottttt though and I gave the same advice to stop talking so much. Anne returned from her village and she got to know Chris is talking to Bee. She simply asked him to stop talking to Bee and he DID. He told Bee he doesn't want to talk to her and he texted me "I got my everything (Anne) so I don't need Bee anymore" Bee felt bad and I told her well atleast don't repeat it again because I know he will text you again and Anne will cheat on him again. In between all of this drama I met my boyfriend through a online game. I used to talk to him whenever Shawn and Penny were ignoring me and I stopped caring about them. And yes I had told them I felt very bad many times that they ignore me and for like 2 days when I was around them Penny would say "oh we should talk to her or she will feel bad" and then talk to me. It was embarrassing really. In short my boyfriend is a great guy who moved to my city. Mind you he was just 17 when he moved. He convinced his parents he needed to study in my City for ME. He made me realise how much more i deserved so I just stopped being bothered by my friends. I introduced all of them to eachother so they used to hang out without me as well. Penny asked Shawn to not to talk to me. Chris and Bee started talking again and Anne left Chris again. But both of them would constantly complain about eachother about how much they hate eachother. Another thing about Bee is the guys she was dating were usually my friends. Like I would introduce my friends to her and she would go snatch the boys up and would ask them not to talk to me. I didn't care because I wasn't attracted to those guys anyway. Once I told about my crush and she literally asked me "ask him to follow me hehe". I was like wtf no I can't ask him to do that. She followed him. He asked me "why is your friend following me and sent a message request" I told him the truth cuz I was just fed up with her. He blocked her lol. He told me not to have friends like her. Anyway she started texting my boyfriend as well. She used to say "when you come to City let's go out to eat, buy me that, buy me this blah blah blah". Little did she know I had his account and I knew she wasn't "busy" so she couldn't reply to me. She needed 2k because she borrowed it from her mom to give a random guy lol. He never returned it but she was crying so I asked my bf to lend her 1k for now. He told her "return to my gf in cash since my mom can see my transactions". She ghosted me after he gave her the money. I confronted Shawn and Penny. I told them I don't want to be their friend anymore because I was there for them always and whenever I texted them they would straight up ignore me. There were some rough words. I told Bee about this and I cried because I did share good moments with them. I also told her they are planning an outing for which they will invite Bee just to spite me and told her I'll feel very bad if u go. She went :). I just asked her to return the money asap and wanted to end it all. The thing is they hated eachother so why go and meet them when I am the one who is helping you when you are in need? Not just the money, I was standing up for her in so many occasions.
She said she can send the money online because she knew I can't say ok to that. I asked her cash she ignored me. I kept asking her decently. I got fed up and texted her mom asking the money and then Bee replied saying "don't act so cheap and text my mom" I'm like huh? If I'm cheap then what are you for taking the money and ghosting me? I told her I'm just asking what u owe me so give it. She said ik y you are asking, it's because I went out with them right, i didn't even know u would feel bad. I told her consider the money as charity and get lost. Blocked. Whereas Chris talked shit about my friend group so I fought with him and he said "you are a b'tch and you don't deserve anything". This happened before I broke friendship with Shawn and Penny and they never stood up for me. Shawn and Penny were beside me standing and seeing me arguing with Chris and said nothing. While the only reason I fought was for them. Funny because what happened later proved who deserves what. My boyfriend moved to City (nobody believed he would come). I topped my last 3 semesters(I was tutoring them during exams and wasted my time before. Now both of them were scoring Avg marks and Penny even cried in class after seeing her marks and mine). I got placed in a huge MNC Company (Chris being my senior was working as a janitor in a clinic, not to shame but just saying). Shawn and Penny apologised to me later on for talking to Bee after we broke out friendship because they realised the kind of person she is. Shawn also mentioned that she had asked him for money but he said no even though he had it lol. Chris and Bee were in a short toxic relationship until he dumped her again for Anne. Bee is also now with no real friends or no real boyfriend and was seeing hanging out with her sister on her bday(I used to take her to Cafes). I would have been with them if I hadn't met my Boyfriend. I don't regret the friendship because I did my part as much as I could. So AITA?

  7. Bee is also now with no real friends or no real boyfriend and was seeing hanging out with her sister on her bday(I used to take her to Cafes and she's the type of person who loves lavish parties, not hanging out with her sister). I would have been with them if I hadn't met my Boyfriend. I don't regret the friendship because I did my part as much as I could.
So AITA?
EDIT: The reason I am asking if AITA is because all of them and few mutuals told me it was wrong of me to dump them just because I had a boyfriend now and should have kept working on the friendship like I used to do before
