2024.05.14 14:18 Cupidz_Snakes Scared myself, wanted to talk about it!

Sorry for the long post I didn’t want to exclude the important bits As someone who can disassociate I try to stay away from it but it slowly creeped into a storyline I’ve been barely putting together. This is an ability I came up with long ago for a different narrative and later tried to remove it from the lore as much as possible for my own mental health.
Tbf this brainstorm sesh was already way too cruel. It was about a power vamped revenge fight. It was super cool! The Mac wins by trapping our villain and using the skill ‘stillborn’ which kills an enemy within an ‘egg’ thru the pain of having their existence(s) unbirthed.
This leaves the villain who I’ll now call Tess with claustrophobia and ptsd when she respawns.
Eventually our Mc who I’ll call Elle sees Tess obviously still shaken and decides to do something about Tess’ backing. Elle then uses an illusion to make it seem like the world is closing in on Tess. When her mental state drops enough Elle’s familiar posses Tess. Elle shows her a nightmare asking about who is behind her. Tess says she won’t tell and Elle explains that no one can truly escape her grasp.
This is where things get disturbing so be warned
Tess goes back to her old life but something seems off. Everywhere she goes she hears small snippets where other people sound like Elle. When she gets to her bosses hq. She explains the fight and everything they need to worry about but their voices keeps switching to one that sounds just like Tess.
Within the story Tess has a good time and this is where a new chapter would start. We follow Tess who scared of the world of power and strength ruling over all, decides to take a brake and even meets and overcomes a fearful person from her past who she hurts and feels guilty for. And then the chapter ends except the page number goes back to just before this rather short chapter.
Tess goes back home to her mom holding a video of all the crimes she committed. Dropping to her knees crying over what
She runs back to the guild backing her but The boss breaks the ‘fourth wall’ by berating her and saying she can’t escape her which would then place them both in a white space. here elle explains that all of this was fake. We then go thru the experience of Tess running away into illusions and then waking up repeatedly. And then Tess chooses to go back home and her mom is there holding a video and her nightmare flashes before her eyes. However it is a video of a pretty field delivered by her ‘friend’. A few more flashbacks to the nightmare later and she runs to the guild but no one is there. And then someone says that this building has been empty for a few months. She goes to other guild members’ families and all her friends are missing complete with crying siblings from the affected families. The next page is the correct number and the rest of the chapter shows Elle using the memories to put the pieces together. The chapter ends with Elle doing a final snap and Tess waking up one more time before slumping over into a wall and bawling. And never trying to compete in that cruel world again. Happily never after.

2024.05.14 14:18 ChronoSpammer A Picture With Our Crew

I think it would be really cool if, at the end of the whole story, we took a big group photo with all of our "canon" crew members. Reminiscent of the Marco Pollo picture.
Our starter comp, Bonnie Ann, our tavern comp, Old Scratch, the Presidio comp, Ratbeard, El Toro, Monkey King, Gracie Conrad, Catbeard, Hawkules, Contessa Argento, Sinbad, Albano, and others we'd get later on.
If they didnt wanna deal with figuring out a way to fit the pirate into the group picture, they could have the pirate be the one taking the picture. Like how Gaspacho was for the original.
I think it would really bring everything full circle, and would be a really emotional and powerful way to end the story. Getting to see our crew, our family, all together one last time.

2024.05.14 14:17 andybogdanbindea The Myth Of The “Serial Entrepreneur”

In an era that values hustling culture and the entrepreneurial spirit, the idea of the "serial entrepreneur" remains a beacon of success. However, below the polished façade is a reality that is sometimes ignored. While stories of several successful companies may inspire awe, they rarely provide the complete picture. The phrase "serial entrepreneur" implies a smooth transition from one accomplishment to the next, but the reality is significantly more complex. Many of those who wear this badge have experienced failures, disappointments, and personal sacrifices along the road. The persistent chase of new opportunities can result in exhaustion, damaged relationships, and a lack of purpose.
Furthermore, the promotion of serial entrepreneurship may obscure the importance of dedication, depth, and long-term influence. True success is evaluated not by the quantity of firms launched, but by the substantial contributions made to society and the long-term legacy left behind. So let us redefine the narrative to honor not only serial entrepreneurs, but also individuals who choose depth over breadth, devoting themselves entirely to a single cause or business, leaving a lasting influence that goes beyond the transitory attraction of startup celebrity.

2024.05.14 14:15 Efm101 DON'T BE LEFT HOLDING THE BAG

Seen some people with the HODL narrative again and in an imaginary war against The Big Boys/ Wallstreet.
You buy, hold through good profits, then it starts to drop, you continue holding into the negative. When the dust settles you have nothing to show for it, only stories how you held against the Big Boys.
IMO current trending pumps is a retracement of previous highs and will go down to the very bottom. the big boys never loose. they have the time, the patience the money and power not to loose.
take profits. don't be a muppet.

2024.05.14 13:58 What_iffffff To those opposed to trying to keep an open mind until the end of trial, or at least until evidence is presented, I'm genuinely curious about why, especially considering the following:

I'm obviously the minority here, but even if Albert was being evasive, even if they literally destroyed their phones for reasons we may not understand, and even if McLaughlin were friends with Caitlyn, since none of that takes away from the evidence yet to come out that will implicate KR, how are people so convinced she's not guilty, when the following hasn't even been presented yet: - The phone GPS data- never moved a few minutes after they showed up, and the only time his phone could've possibly been in that house was so quick, it wasn't long enough for anyone to beat him up, then drag him out. - If any of us found our partner lying on the ground unresponsive in the yard where we left him, wouldn't we be demanding answers from the people inside at some point? She never asked one question! - If alllllll those people were in on it(mostly LE), do we really think they'd leave him in their front yard, while still breathing, AND with his phone? And when did they all decide this was the plan? - She told her dad she "hit something" - Even her attys at first said it was an accident, then they changed their story to follow suit with the narrative painted by so-called journalists - The voicemails she left him don't sound like doting, proud girlfriend at all

2024.05.14 13:43 Heavy-State1115 Business newbie here looking for some business tips and wanting to hear your stories !

Hi guys, I'm 26, currently working as a civil engineer in Australia, and last year I started a business with a mate who is currently working as a commercial pilot. So, we've been working full time for around 2 years now, and quickly found out we wanted more freedom. Since we are both interested in entrepreneurship, we decided to "give this thing a go".
According to some YouTubers out there, the best way to start a business is to think about the problems you've solved in your past and make a business solving that problem for other people going through the same struggles. So, the idea we had was to help international graduates land full-time employment through our coaching program. I was an international student my whole life, and I also struggled to land a role (due to visa issues, lack of work experience, etc.), so I thought there were definitely people out there who needed help. After doing a bunch of research and looking at similar businesses that are already operating, we built a program similar, better, and cheaper. Since then, we've worked on it for a year now, until last month when we decided to quit.
So Here's why:
We've had around 10 students so far. And the results were great, we got good testimonials and we actually felt fulfilled helping these people out. One of our students couldn’t find employment even after 5 years from graduation and we helped him land his first engineering role. But despite all of these we found out two things.
  1. Most of our prospects couldn’t afford our service.
The people we were targeting mostly worked in restaurants, retail, petrol stations, and drove for Uber. I don’t want to sound rude, but we were trying to sell a costly product ($1500 for our program) to people at the lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum. We learned sales along the way. We reached out to hundreds, or even thousands, of people on LinkedIn. We offered them a free first lesson or tried webinars, and we had people attending those.
However, all the responses we received were, "I can’t afford it now." We really did blame ourselves for a long time, saying "we suck at sales." But to be absolutely honest, we accepted that these people could not afford it. We even offered installment payments (payment divided into 4). But thinking now, since a lot of them earn around $1000 per week, and with paying rent and other expenses, we found out that most of these people did not have the money to join. Many of the students who joined us were either married or living with their families, which helped them to afford our program.
  1. We weren't enjoying the business.
We learned an important lesson. That your personal purpose needs to align with your business's mission for you to work through all obstacles. We learned that a business is not easy, it requires a lot of thinking, problem-solving, and hustle. And we are fine with those, but the issue was that coaching international students to help them with employment wasn't the right vehicle for us. To be honest, we didn’t really care, and it seemed like we just wanted money. I think this was the biggest reason why we failed. We weren't getting clients, so we had to figure something out, but since we weren't enjoying the process, we burnt ourselves out, and it just became a chore we had to work on after our full-time job to finish off the day.
So Now:
We now want to start something new, something we are passionate about, something we enjoy even when we're eating shit. And we figured out that it was going to be something related to entrepreneurship. This guy on YouTube, "The Starter Story" Pat Walls, is our big inspiration. So we are thinking of starting a YouTube channel similar to his, sharing stories of different entrepreneurs out there.
But to be honest, we are so stuck. We don’t really know if we are going in the right path. Whether this is all a pipe dream? So I just want to know, or get some tips. How did you guys get started? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks !

Dante and Tommy welcome an old friend (or enemy, we'll see) back into the narrative, and once and for all settle the location debate! We are finishing off Arc 3: Lips Sealed.

Discussion question: Let's assume the already named Lambs got to rename their project to align with how they'd like to develop rather than how they're being developed. What would each pick?

2024.05.14 13:34 Virtual_Anteater_316 Sorry not sorry

If you think ultimate Spider-Man comics are bad because of his death and miles taking up the mantle, you’re immature and just wrong. I see so many people hate on that comic run these days simply because of something bad happening to Spider-Man, and it’s honestly so frustrating because fans of all superheros are running with a narrative of “no dark/grittiness only sunshine and rainbows and stories where only the good guys win”

2024.05.14 13:24 adulting4kids Befriend The Blank Page Part Three

Writer's Block? Befriend the Beast: Pro Tips to Turn Blockades into Bestsellers (With Prompts So Crazy They Might Work)

Ah, writer's block. That ever-present nemesis, the blank page's evil twin, the creativity-sucking gremlin that haunts every writer's dreams (or lack thereof). But what if I told you writer's block isn't your enemy, but a misunderstood ally? A twisted muse, a forced sabbatical from the mundane, a chance to shake things up and unleash your inner writing gremlin in the most productive way possible?
Befriending the Block:
Professional authors know the struggle is real. Here's what they say about turning blockades into stepping stones:
Now, let's get insane with prompts that will have your muse doing a double take:
1. Genre Blender: Combine two wildly different genres. Write a historical romance with zombies, a cyberpunk detective novel set in ancient Rome, or a space opera with a grumpy cat detective as the protagonist.
2. Alternate Reality: Imagine your story taking place in a world obsessed with something ridiculous. Think "everyone communicates only through emojis" or "unicorns are the primary mode of transportation."
3. Flash Forward, Way Forward: Skip to the very end of your story. Write the final scene, then work your way back, filling in the gaps with the most outrageous plot twists imaginable.
4. Dream Weaver: Describe a bizarre dream in excruciating detail. Then, analyze it like a cryptic message from your subconscious, using it as the foundation for your story.
5. Character Chaos: Write a scene where your characters are forced to switch bodies (think Freaky Friday, but with your characters). How does it change their perspectives? What hilarious misunderstandings ensue?
6. Found Object Frenzy: Grab the weirdest thing you can find (rusty spork, deflated balloon animal, taxidermied squirrel) and write a story centered around it. Bonus points for incorporating its bizarre history.
7. Unsolved Mystery: Choose a real-life unsolved mystery (Jack the Ripper, the Bermuda Triangle) and write a fictional account from the perspective of the perpetrator or a hidden witness.
8. Headline Hijinks: Rip a random headline from the news and turn it into the most outlandish story you can imagine. Aliens behind the stock market crash? Sentient self-driving cars waging war on pigeons? Go wild!
9. Animal Antics: Write your story entirely from the perspective of an animal character. A grumpy cat narrates a love triangle, a wise old owl dispenses philosophical advice, a hyperactive squirrel chronicles a daring heist.
10. Time Travel Tango: Send your characters on a time travel adventure with a twist. They can't change the past, but their actions have unforeseen consequences in the present. Think butterfly effect on steroids.
Remember, these prompts are just springboards. Let your imagination run wild, embrace the absurd, and don't be afraid to delve into the depths of your weirdness. You never know what hidden gem you might unearth from the rubble of writer's block. So, unleash your inner gremlin, write with abandon, and remember: sometimes, the best stories are born from the most unexpected places. Now get writing, you beautiful block-busting wordsmiths!

2024.05.14 13:14 adulting4kids Blocked?

Writer's Block? More Like Writer's Mock! Let's Outsmart That Blank Page:

Tired of staring at a cursor that blinks like a judgmental disco ball? Fear not, fellow wordslinger, for we shall vanquish this block with unorthodox weaponry! Forget boring brainstorming – let's get weird, wild, and ridiculously effective.
Step 1: Embrace the Chaos of Your Procrastinating Soul:
Step 2: Befriend the Uncomfortable:
Step 3: Befriend the Outside World (But Not Too Much):
Remember: Perfection is the enemy of progress. Embrace the weird, the silly, the downright nonsensical. You might just surprise yourself with a spark of genius hiding in the unexpected. Now go forth, conquer that blank page, and unleash your inner writing warrior (even if they wear mismatched socks and wield a spork)!

2024.05.14 13:10 s1rlight History and Characters so bad for Campaign players only

I tried to get it into the title, simply as that: The game campaign is bad, the history does resolves around a single person instead of a whole civilization. I want to refund after the first two missions. What’s wrong with Imogen? She starts crying from the beginning, “oh so many losses” “where am I”, the cutscenes between jumps, where is her training? Why everything has to be centered around individuals and not the collectivity?
As many of you already said, the history diverted already in Hw2, but still I could see the importance of the cores, of a single mothership, now what? The cutscene are so badly “cut” we are keep apart from intel for the sake of plot twist, this has no sense, every scene is dramatically cut before you have the time to read or understand for “dramacity”. I hate everything about the lore, the people, the narrative as it’s shown and story behind.
Everything is underwhelming and this game fails in the very core of the franchise: what’s at stakes and the will of a whole civilization in order to survive.
The personalization of the franchise around those super girls wanna do everything (super Ai vs feels) is very woke to me.
If someone who ended campaign would like to tell me if refund or not, based upon the fact that I play only campaign, please feel free to tell me if I have to endure or it gets worst later on.

2024.05.14 13:08 Boomer00002 Archewell 2024 donation, grant and publicity master thread

Archewell 2024 donation, grant and publicity master thread
I've left this comment on a couple of posts and someone suggested I make a post about it. I'm happy to do so in order to keep it all together in one place. I've even added a couple of new items.
These are results I got in Google after restricting the search from January 1, 2024 - May 10, 2024. According to the Daily Mail, "Records show it was declared delinquent in January for not filing its annual registration renewal fee reports or renewal fee since February 2023". [Archive link - https://archive.is/wgrzc] This would mean any publicity or donations / grants that were announced would have happened AFTER it was declared delinquent.
I did not even go into activities from Feb - Dec of 2023. The following items are just since Jan 2024. (Meaning the new 'check is in the mail' cover story is as legitimate as their foundation. [Archive link - https://archive.is/wip/fjOM8]) They are not necessarily in chronological order.

The Archewell / NAACP award for $100K was announced in March 2024:
"Prince Harry and Megan's [sic] Archewell Foundation has announced the new winner of an annual award meant for figures who have overcome racist and sexist biases in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
Each year, the winner of The NAACP - Archewell Foundation Digital Civil Rights Award is awarded $100,000 to advance their work in civil and human rights."
March 14, 2024: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13199041/Archewell-Foundation-announces-NAACP-foundation-award-harry-meghan.html [Archive link - https://archive.is/FKRzS]
Question: Did Archewell give the $100K themselves?

In March it was also reported that Archewell had been funding a San Antonio Afghan refugee women's charity "since last July".
"San Antonio is one of the foundation’s 11 active Welcome Projects across the U.S." [Archewell archive link - https://archive.is/JWErN]
March 12, 2024: https://sanantonioreport.org/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-visit-afghan-refugee-women-in-san-antonio/ [Archive link - https://archive.is/tRgsS]

Also from March 7, 2024 in Vanity Fair [Archive link - https://archive.is/7A8bS]:
"On Thursday, the Duchess of Sussex and the nonprofit Moms First are announcing the results of a study on television moms with the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media...
...The duchess is teaming up with actor Geena Davis and Moms First, a longtime charity partner of the Archewell Foundation, to raise awareness about the ways television depicts characters who are mothers, backed up by data gathered from programming across 2022."
https://momsfirst.us/news/gdi-motherhood/ [Archive link - https://archive.is/wip/yJeFD]

April 2024: "African-American art earned a royal endorsement when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — hosted “An Evening of Art” on Thursday, March 21, honoring The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California, where the exhibit debuted during Super Bowl LVI 2022. Last month’s event was the result of a partnership between the Sussexes’ Archewell Foundation and The Bernard and Shirley Kinsey Foundation for Art and Education." May 10, 2024 announcement:
"What a joy to welcome to Nigeria our dear partners Prince Harry & Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and their Archewell Foundation team to celebrate our new partnership to provide mental and menstrual health workshops to teens and youth on an ongoing basis!!"

As for publicity / PR in this timeframe (not including additional tie-ins with Invictus, Sentebale and BetterUp-related events), I found the following...

The Daily Express reported the following on January 14, 2024 regarding Harry being named a "Legend of Aviation":
"The Archewell Foundation, founded by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, says it is 'categorically untrue' that any money exchanged hands concerning the 'Living Legends of Aviation' title."
https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1855510/prince-harry-publicity-stunt-living-legend-aviation [Archive link - https://archive.is/bGxVa]

Archewell sought publicity in February by announcing:
"Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Archewell Foundation honored Black History Month with a group outing.
A new post on the Archewell Foundation website marked Black History, sharing that the team visited a photo exhibit chronicling the Civil Rights movement in Los Angeles."
February 27, 2024: https://malaysia.news.yahoo.com/meghan-markle-prince-harrys-archewell-163043509.html [Archive link - https://archive.is/rrHHZ]

Archewell was also name-dropped on April 2, 2024 when Meghan made an appearance to read at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as part of the "Make March Matter Campaign", but I cannot find anything that mentions an Archewell donation or grant.
https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/meghan-markle-reads-to-patients-at-childrens-hospital-los-angeles/ [Archive link - https://archive.is/wip/0FG27]

Then on April 12, 2024 the Daily Mail reported:
"The Duke of Sussex is thought to be working with his PR advisers at Archewell to do all he can to manage photographs and videos from his public appearances - with any output being edited by Archewell or event organisers before being released."
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13300557/Prince-Harry-royal-experts-Archewell-Netflix-Meghan-Markle.html [Archive link - https://archive.is/GmilF]

New addition from the Archewell website [Archive link - https://archive.is/2kNu1]:
"On International Women’s Day, The Archewell Foundation co-hosted a keynote panel “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen” at South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.
Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, and Co-founder of The Archewell Foundation, spoke at the festival’s keynote panel alongside fellow female visionary leaders Katie Couric, Brooke Shields, and Nancy Wang Yuen in a conversation moderated by The 19th’s Errin Haines."
"This session is presented by The Archewell Foundation and The 19th, the national nonprofit newsroom reporting on gender, politics and policy."
March 8, 2024: https://schedule.sxsw.com/2024/events/PP1145814 [Archive link - https://archive.is/4WMsU]

New addition from Mayhew Animal Home:
"In an event hosted at animal welfare charity Mayhew in North West London, family and friends of the late dog behaviourist and trainer, Oli Juste, as well as celebrities and Mayhew supporters gathered to unveil the Oli Juste Wing; refurbished kennels providing warmth, safety and shelter for the dogs that come into Mayhew’s care.
The wing was made possible by a generous donation from Mayhew’s former Patron and Oli’s dear friend, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex. Oli first introduced The Duchess to Mayhew in 2019. They shared many things throughout their friendship, among which was a deep commitment to animal welfare and a love of rescue dogs. When he tragically passed in January 2022, The Duchess, through The Archewell Foundation, made a contribution to Mayhew in Oli’s honour to continue his legacy. The donation has also enabled the charity to make significant improvements to their dog run and garden which provide an enriching experience for rescued dogs while they are waiting to be rehomed.
The Duchess delivered a personal video message in Oli’s memory, and in support of Mayhew, which was shown at the event."

Posted to Archewell [Archive link - https://archive.is/wMsaM] on February 21, 2024.

New addition regarding the "check is in the mail" excuse for the state of California [see comments below] - "Charitable organizations with Registry status of Current or Current - Awaiting Reporting may file annual reports and pay renewal fees electronically after establishing an online account." I would assume that Archewell can no longer pay online because they have been declared as 'delinquent'.

I'm sure there is more that I've missed so please feel free to add in the comments. I will try to keep this updated with any new information as I can.
Needless to say, for a foundation that has failed to file its reports and pay its renewal fee dating back to February 2023, they have certainly found the time in 2024 to seek publicity, put out public relations announcements, and solicit / spend.

2024.05.14 12:53 SexxxMelaneexxx Sonnet

A sonnet is a 14-line poem with a specific rhyme scheme and meter. The two most common types of sonnets are the Shakespearean (or English) sonnet and the Petrarchan (or Italian) sonnet.
  1. Shakespearean Sonnet (or English Sonnet):
    • Consists of three quatrains (four-line stanzas) followed by a rhymed couplet (two-line stanza).
    • Rhyme scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG.
    • Typically written in iambic pentameter (ten syllables per line with emphasis on every second syllable).
  2. Petrarchan Sonnet (or Italian Sonnet):
    • Comprises an octave (eight-line stanza) followed by a sestet (six-line stanza).
    • Rhyme scheme for the octave: ABBAABBAA.
    • Rhyme scheme for the sestet: Various patterns, such as CDCDCD or CDECDE.
    • Often written in iambic pentameter.
Sonnets are known for their structured and intricate form, and they are commonly used to express themes of love, beauty, nature, and the complexities of human emotions. Notable poets who wrote sonnets include William Shakespeare, Petrarch, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Title: "Assembling Archetypes for the Visual Storytelling Through Video Game Environments"
Author: Makar Ulitin
Survey Link: https://forms.gle/VtmBqVE9w8zGrtsp6
Absctract: The study exploresthe tactics of narrating story visually from the times of cave art up to present day video games. Connections between ludology and narratology is explored deeply. Strategies of building a setting are evaluated from communicating personality to manipulating gestalt principles. The traditional monomyth structure is extended with the archetypoes of locations. Survey explored the habits of players, their view on the archetypical spaces. Research questions of the present study are:
RQ1: Which visual storytelling techniques and principles are used in the process of videogame environmental design?
RQ2: How can properties of the space be divided into groups, according to which qualities, in order to allow for labor division and successful teamwork?
RQ3: Which archetypes can be seen in locations of modern videogames and what are their defining characteristics and impact on the viewer?
RQ4: Which spheres of modern life will benefit from the effective and persuasive digital environmental storytelling? What are the rules of persuasive spatial storytelling?
Hypothesis is coined from the presumption that the traditional monomyth structure can serve as a basis for the construction of universal location archetypes. Author hopes to expand the Campbell's and Vogler's classical framework and provide tools for deep visual content research.
Intended demographic is people interested in digital gaming, despite their age, country etc.
I am looking for the participants to answer my survey. Everyone is welcomed. I hope it will be insightful and entertaining. And I thank you for your help.

In today’s digital world, readers crave engaging experiences. Static text on a screen just doesn’t cut it anymore. Enter the realm of interactive eBooks — a dynamic and immersive way to share your stories, knowledge, and ideas.
Interactive eBooks go beyond the limitations of traditional formats. Imagine embedding quizzes to test reader comprehension, adding video demonstrations to complex topics, or incorporating clickable hotspots that reveal hidden information. These elements not only enhance understanding but also transform reading into an active and enjoyable journey.
So, how can you create these captivating interactive eBooks? Let’s delve into the exciting world of crafting engaging digital experiences for your readers.
1. Concept and Planning: Charting Your Course
The first step is to solidify your concept. What kind of interactive eBook are you creating? Is it a children’s story with touch-activated animations, a non-fiction guide with embedded infographics, or a language learning tool with interactive exercises? Having a clear purpose will guide your design and content decisions.
Next, plan the interactive elements. Will you incorporate quizzes, games, simulations, or multimedia content like audio and video? Sketching out your ideas with storyboards or mind maps can help visualize the flow of your eBook and ensure a seamless reading experience.
2. Content Creation: Crafting Compelling Narratives
Here’s where your storytelling prowess comes in. Craft compelling text that draws readers in and keeps them engaged. Remember, your content should be optimized for the interactive format. Keep the text concise and focus on delivering key information.
Consider incorporating different content types. Break up text with bulleted lists, tables, and images. Interactive elements like clickable definitions or pop-up explanations can add depth without overwhelming readers.
3. Choosing the Right Tools: Building Your Interactive World
Several tools can help you create interactive eBooks. Some popular options include:
  • Authoring tools: These platforms offer drag-and-drop functionalities to embed multimedia content, quizzes, and other interactive features.
  • ePub3 editors: This format allows for advanced interactivity and is compatible with most eBook readers.
  • Coding languages: For ultimate customization, consider using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. While this requires coding knowledge, it offers complete control over the interactive experience.
4. Design and User Experience: Making it Look and Feel Great
A well-designed eBook is visually appealing and easy to navigate. Use high-quality images, consistent fonts, and a clean layout to enhance readability.
Consider the user experience on different devices like tablets and smartphones. Ensure the interactive elements are optimized for touchscreens and offer clear instructions for user interaction.
5. Testing and Publishing: Getting Your Masterpiece Out There
Once you’ve built your interactive masterpiece, it’s time for testing. Use various devices and platforms to ensure responsiveness and functionality. Get feedback from beta readers to identify any issues and refine the user experience.
Finally, publish your eBook on a platform that supports interactive features. Popular options include Apple iBooks, Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), and Kobo.
Kitaboo: Your Gateway to Interactive eBooks
Creating interactive eBooks can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Kitaboo, a leading eBook creation platform, empowers authors and publishers to craft immersive and engaging reading experiences.
With Kitaboo’s user-friendly interface, you can easily embed multimedia content, quizzes, and other interactive elements without needing coding expertise. Their platform ensures seamless reading across various devices and offers advanced analytics to track reader engagement.

2024.05.14 12:40 oTalAmigoBi Wrapped up Superhot and Superhot: Mind Control Delete. The first one is a must-play, the second one not so much, but still pretty fun

Obviously skipping the VR one here as I do not have a VR set, nor am I planning in getting one.
SUPERHOT
At risk of hyping up a game that's already hyped up as a modern classic by a fair share of people, I have to say that Superhot is absolutely fantastic. Plays out like a really good mix of basic FPS gameplay and puzzles, in the sense that you actively have to figure out what's the next best move for you to do, as you clear out a room that would usually result in your death if played in real time. It's a great twist on the concept of shooters, and the result is an amazing game that is only held back by annoying button prompts and sections that are required to advance through the story.
The game was already great by itself, but it absolutely shines with the post-game challenges. No story segments to push through, just straight up gameplay, one level after the other, with different challenges that force you to see and replay the levels in a different style, to a point where you just zone out and fully focus on clearing level after level after level... at that point you're entranced, thus mimicking something the game talks about during the story.
It's simple. It's short. But you can get a lot out of it.
As for Mind Control Delete... there are ups and downs.
SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE (MCD)
The best thing about this sequel is how they improved enemy AI. Katana wielders now deflect bullets as well, and if you throw something at a guy using a bat he will use it to cancel it out. They have more erratic movement, which can be either a plus or a negative to you. Personally I like it, makes it more challenging to kill the dudes.
On top of that, you now have several power ups that you can use to spice up your gameplay. You can spawn with a katana, or a random gun. You can be faster. You can have more bullets. You can become temporarily invincible by engaging in melee combat, skip your reload if your shot kills, accumulate HP as you kill more and more enemies, slow down bullets near you even further, increase your throwing strength so now shurikens come back to you if they hit an opponent... in short the powers are a great addition!
But to me... it lost a bit of the charm. This sequel plays like an entire game was made based around one of the alternative modes in the original Superhot (and not even my favourite), so it feels like a sort of spin off, rather than a true sequel. To me, the joy of Superhot was in figuring a carefully built level out (solving the puzzle) and then tackling it in different ways without getting hit, not even once!
MCD simply throws you into a gauntlet of levels (and give you at least 2 hearts, so you can get hit at least once) and while that is certainly fun... it feels a lot like a separate mode, rather than the Superhot experience I've had with the original. Which results in a game that feels more like a shooter employing Superhot mechanics, and is still technically Superhot, but it's just not the same. It's too random. Too reliant on killing X dudes in this well-designed room. At least the original could tell a very small, self-contained story with each level. In this one you're just there.
By no means do I consider the latest entry a bad game! Far from it. It just doesn't scratch the same itch.
CONCEPT
I'm using concept here instead of plot since it fits Superhot better. I mean... there is a plot and some lore, sure, but I feel this game is more concept-driven than the other way around. Meaning that there is a theme, and there is a narrative going on, but it all circles around this idea of the game being very addicting and spreading like a virus. Both the original and the sequel play off these tones, but in different ways.
SOUND
Other than certain sections, there is no music. Just straight up beautiful, satisfying, eargasmic sound design. I also enjoyed how in certain levels you can actually hear the background if you don't stop, especially in the Disco level in MCD where the music gets less muted if you keep moving, thus sort of influencing you to play it as close to real-time as possible.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Absolutely a modern classic for sure with an idea that just works in both gameplay and in a conceptual sense. MCD is also pretty fun, but if the puzzle aspect is what captivated you the most in the first game, curb your expectations a little before playing it.

2024.05.14 12:34 Adorable_Vehicle_945 Was Lizzie attracted to Darcy from the beginning ?

A lot of people i ask think so, but they explained this interpretation based on the adaptations rather than the book . I read that Joe Wright thought so as well but he seemed to misunderstand a lot of things in the story. I don't even think he read it that carefully. I guess that's because she talks about him a lot but JA only gives us conversations or observations important to the pilot or so we could laugh at how absurd her characters are acting at times, considering how important Darcy is to Lizzie's arc, JA had no choice but make Lizzie tell us what going on with him.
So, i tried to look for a hint for this in the source materiel and i did not find any. I don't think that she was attracted to him in the assembly at first sight, and when he insulted her she supressed her feelings out of disappointment and denial when she had just met the guy an hour ago, or that she called Ann sickly and cross out of jealousy ; because there is no indication in the text for this, what the narrator says she was simply offended. It's not like she spent hours crying and thinking about it, if anything Mrs Bennet talked more about the insult than Lizzie did. The only thing that "not handsome enough to tempt me" thing changed is her behaviour towards him. I mean we have no proof that if another man made that comment, she would not be just as offended. There is a bunch of other interpretations like maybe she was always sensitive when it comes to looks because of her sister Jane and their mother constantly calling her inferior in beauty, or maybe she was insulted by the fact that the richest and most important man in the room who moved in cercles much higher than hers insulted her appearance, it would make her feel that her beauty is inferior to what he usually sees. Or she was acting like her mother did when Darcy first visited Longbourn at the end of the Book, and was trying to offend Darcy out of resentment and dislike. To add to that, we have no reason to suppose that if Wickham did not tell her the story, she would be that interested in Darcy.
There is even a passage where JA compares Lizzie's feelings for both Wickham and Darcy, we know that Lizzie was attracted to Wickham since their first meeting because he was charming and he flattered her vanity but it ended badly; but with Darcy, she began to like him in Pemberly because of the goodness within him, how he loved ardently despite all that happened between them, and because he is always trying to improve himself and it turned out to be a much more successful attachment. If WE make Lizzie attracted to Darcy from the start, we take away this point that JA was trying to make. Not all successful relationships are love at first sight. I mean Darcy was at his worst during that assembly, he offended everyone, the ladies thought him handsome but when they saw how he was acting all his looks and wealth seemed like nothing. I don't know why Lizzie would be attracted to him while he was acting like an jerk. This is what Wickham has over Darcy "the countenance", they are both equally handsome but Wickham's manners and air is much more charming than Darcy's.
