2024.05.14 17:08 Trigger015 I'm tired of myself

CW suicidal ideation
Hey everyone,
I've been suffering with depression for most of my life and I always end up coming back to it. I've been in and out of work constantly for the last decade, missed out on my dream job because of my mental health, lost friendships and I'm losing the motivation to carry on. I tell everyone I'm getting better, but I'm getting less and less tolerant when things do go wrong.
My jobs usually end in me calling in sick repeatedly or getting tired and nauseous when I arrive. This is usually followed by sitting around feeling sorry for myself for a few weeks.
I recently started a decent job that I feel I can actually do, with really good hours and work-life balance, and I lost it because I forgot to attend a mandatory meeting. I'm sick of having to deal with my own mistakes, I can barely function as an adult and I manage to fuck up everything good in my life. Before I got this job I was actively suicidal; I had everything planned out and I was just waiting to have my application rejected. I got it, fit in well with everyone, felt like I was good at it.
Then I fucking ruined everything again.
It's been like 8 hours since I found out and I'm spiralling. This was genuinely the best job I've ever had and I'm worried I'll never get an opportunity like it again. I have medication I have to pay for (privately in the UK) than I'm on a 2 year waiting list for on the NHS and unemployment pay over here doesn't even cover that.
I'm at my wits end and I don't know what to do. I don't want to die. Things finally felt like they were getting better; I've made new friends, got plenty to keep me busy after work, I finally have a healthy social life. I'm just so fucking tired of ruining everything for myself again and again.
I'm stuck and I don't know what to do.

2024.05.14 17:05 DeezTDs After Semaglutide - food noise is so loud

I started on semaglutide in October of 2023 at my all time high weight of almost 170 lbs at 5’3. I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life, and in recent years decided to just eat what I felt like and not obsess over food. I was gaining around 5 lbs a year, but felt decent in my skin. Once my annual labs came back with elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, I decided I needed to get to a healthy BMI for health reasons.
I steadily but slowly lost over 30 pounds and just went off semaglutide last month. The biggest difference has been the food noise. The months on semaglutide were more freeing than I even realized. Not thinking about my next meal constantly freed up my mind to focus on so many other things. Now food is all I can think about. Before semaglutide, I could have ice cream, chips, and soda in the house (mostly for kid sleepovers, I’m not big on just keeping junk food around) and didn’t feel the urge to partake, and if I did feel the urge, I would indulge. Now I can’t stop pounding goldfish like they’re water.
It may be that while taking semaglutide, food was so unappealing, so now that it tastes good, I’m going overboard enjoying it. 4 pounds have crept back on in the last month, and I’m scared it’ll continue. Easy to say… just eat less! But I’m insatiable. I wake up starving and am hungry all day. I’m now debating going back on it, and in my mind was thinking - get the foods you love before your doc appointment this week because you won’t enjoy them again for a while. Since this mindset shift, from restricting to indulging, now I’m less obsessed. Which is telling me that it’s 90% mental. When I try to restrict, my brain fights me and obsesses over the restricted thing. When I accept that it’s not restricted and that I can free range on whatever I want, I lose interest. I realized I’ve always been this way… case in point - leading up to my wedding and trying to ensure I didn’t gain any weight so I could fit into my snug dress, I found myself at every burger drive thru on the way to dress fittings. On autopilot, knowing I’d pay for it but not able to stop the wheel from turning my car into the Shake Shack drive thru.
Has anyone else had this experience? What did you do and what helped? Thinking about finding a therapist that specializes in this. The 4 pounds don’t bother me much, as long as it stays at just 4, it’s more the constant distraction that feels intolerable.

2024.05.14 17:05 Neversummerdrew76 Help me! Having trouble liking the system.

Am I the only person in the 616 universe that thinks the math in this game is ridiculously bloated and unacceptable? I mean health in the 160 + range? Really? Thor rolls 18 on the dice and then multiplies that by 5???!!! to get a MINIMUM of 90 plus damage!?!? Oh, and let's not forget to add the +2 modifier because, you know, + 2 to that 90 really makes a difference! 🙄
I don't really mean to be rude and snarky, but it is just the way this system makes me feel. I am a huge fan of Prowlers and Paragons and I also like Mutants & Masterminds. I am just trying to figure out where this game fits in all of the other awesome superhero TTRPGs out there. I feel like there must be something I am missing because everyone seems to love this new TTRPG. The bloated math is just SUCH a huge turn off for me!
In fairness, there have been other things in life that I have initially disliked that eventually ended up growing on me. I am just trying to figure out if this game is going to be one of them. Any adivce?

2024.05.14 16:54 Commercial_Break360 Cat with cancer threw up now eats

My cat has cancer and had a lump removed but it wasn’t enough etc. Naturally, her health is degrading but she has been relatively normal. For a period of about 3 weeks her appetite GREATLY decreased. We were trying different foods, treats, human food, more gravy foods but I was at the point where it seemed like it was time to let go.
I brought her to the vet and they said she was mostly dehydrated (I kind of brought her in to talk about end of life stuff…). They gave her some fluids and then she did a little better for a day. After that she was almost worse than before.
About a week later, after a particularly bad day she had a pretty intense barfing fit in the middle of the night. She was left dazed and tired. I thought “this is it” but all of a sudden she heads to her dish and chows down on all the foods I had been trying her on. A dish of dry food, an entire pack of this hydration stuff and all her treats. Now days later her eating is pretty much back to normal and she seems much better.
What happened? How could one barf fix her ability to eat like that after weeks? Gas? Some muscle thing? I know her cancer isn’t going to go away but she’s so much better since that barf!

2024.05.14 16:32 No-Map-7688 WIBTA If I abandoned my children?

I 29F am I single parent to two children (10m & 4m). They have separate dad's. BD to 4m has 50/50 contact with me. 10m does not see his dad but has regular contact with my mum.
I'm recently re-training back at school, but for the next stage it means moving away for uni. I am retraining after a job 3 years ago, sent my mental health into a spiral and left me unable to work. I'm trying to recover to earn money by re-studying as I've come on all leaps with therapy that this is a happy medium to gradually return to employment.
The problem lies that I attempted to move and have been unsuccessful attempting to get a 2 bedroom property for me and my children ready for University in September for the last year.
A side note is that's been agreed by medical professionals is that going back to my old profession isn't an option for my mental health.
The problem... 4m's BD and my mum can't support the children to fulfil my plan... unless they have full custody so they can work the children into their lives effectively by living in their respective homes. There is no happy medium on this. (Rock and Hard Place problems).
I am limited for where I can attend university and move because of needing help with the children (childcare, babysitters, family & friends). These arent available to fit in around the university. My friends have offered to pitch in occasionally, but regrettably are unable to just help out each week.
So I'm left with 3 options:-
  1. Attempt to get back into university next year where I find a property. But I am worried that due to the gap in education, I will loose momentum and be unable to engage as effectively.
  2. Give up my children to BD and my mum for the next 3 years whilst I complete university. Then get a part time job on the side for income.
  3. Just give up on the idea altogether of easing gradually back into work and accept this is my fate.
I'm tempted to leave my children to fulfil my dream, but I know similarly that if I move away for 3 years there may be a lot of abandonment issues my children face as I'm their constant and consistent person for 4 and 10 years. Prior to recently (a few months) they never had much involvement with either my BD or my mum because of work.

2024.05.14 16:31 harrysuze2021 Nexplanon Insertion: What to Expect and How to Prepare

Nexplanon Insertion: What to Expect and How to Prepare
Are you considering Nexplanon as a birth control option? This small but mighty device offers long-term protection against pregnancy, and its insertion process is more straightforward than you might think. Let's dive into what you can expect during the Nexplanon insertion process, how to prepare for it, and how it compares to other options like the IUD.
https://preview.redd.it/ps0znfgtje0d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32b38d08ea7cbddfa4180a8ac904508c5fd68297

Understanding Nexplanon Birth Control

Nexplanon is a small, flexible rod inserted just under the skin of the upper arm. It releases a hormone called etonogestrel, which prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation and thickening cervical mucus to block sperm. One of the most significant advantages of Nexplanon is its duration—it provides up to three years of continuous birth control, making it a hassle-free choice for long-term contraception.

Preparing for Nexplanon Insertion

Initial Consultation

Your journey to getting Nexplanon starts with a consultation. During this visit, your healthcare provider will assess your medical history, discuss how Nexplanon works, and address any concerns. This is a crucial step to ensure that Nexplanon is the right fit for your health needs.

Scheduling Your Appointment

Timing your Nexplanon insertion is essential. The ideal time for the procedure is during the first five days of your menstrual cycle to guarantee immediate protection against pregnancy. If inserted at another time, using an additional form of birth control temporarily is recommended.

Mental and Physical Preparation

Understanding the insertion process can help reduce any anxiety. Since the procedure involves inserting Nexplanon through a needle, knowing that the area will be numbed with local anesthesia can provide reassurance.

The Nexplanon Insertion Process

Detailed Steps

  • Clean and Prep: The skin on your upper arm will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
  • Anesthetize: A local anaesthetic will be applied to numb the insertion area.
  • Insert: Nexplanon is inserted under the skin using a specially designed-applicator.
  • Verification: Your healthcare provider will feel the implant under your skin to confirm it’s in the right place.
The entire procedure is quick, generally lasting just a few minutes, with the insertion taking less than a minute.

Post-Insertion Experience

Immediate Aftercare

Minor bruising, swelling, or discomfort at the insertion site is normal. These symptoms typically resolve within a few days and can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

Monitoring and Maintenance

Routine check-ups with your healthcare provider are essential to ensure Nexplanon is functioning correctly. Monitor the insertion site and overall health and report any unusual changes.

Comparisons with Other Birth Control Methods

While Nexplanon birth control offers significant benefits, it’s beneficial to compare it with other methods like IUD birth control. Unlike IUDs, which are placed inside the uterus, Nexplanon is less invasive with its arm insertion. Both methods are highly effective, but the choice may depend on personal health considerations and lifestyle preferences.

Transitioning from Other Birth Control

If you’re switching from another method, such as an IUD, overlapping birth control methods during the transition period is essential to maintain continuous pregnancy prevention.

How IUD Clinic Can Assist

The IUD Clinic’s comprehensive care extends to other modern contraceptives, such as Nexplanon. They provide expert consultations, insertion services, and ongoing support, ensuring that you receive personalized and effective contraceptive care. Their team is dedicated to guiding you through each process step, from choosing the best option to managing it post-insertion.

Conclusion

Opting for Nexplanon insertion is a significant decision that offers reliable, long-term birth control. By understanding the process and preparing adequately, you can ensure a smooth experience and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with effective contraception. The IUD Clinic is there to support you with expert care, helping you navigate your options and maintain optimal reproductive health.

2024.05.14 16:26 AstroNoVa888 M18 just ready to look for love again

It’s been a while since my last relationship and I’m ready to search again, I’m looking for someone between 18-21. A big need for me relationship-wise is honesty, loyalty and respect and patience those are big green flags to me personally.
I’m heavily attracted to intelligence, it isn’t a need but I’m also attracted to many other things like being calm, understanding, being trusting and hella more tbh.
I love to call/ft whichever is most comfortable So distance isn’t a problem personally
For hobbies I enjoy listening to different genres of music, reading, watching horror or romance series or movies and I usually get interested in my partner’s interests too.
Also I’m hella deep into love. That influences my future goals for a relationship and some general life goals I have
This chat gpt quote I was sent basically sums up my Ideals somewhat but still some of that isn’t needed:
Your ideal partner is someone who possesses intelligence and a thirst for knowledge, particularly historical intelligence, which you find incredibly attractive. They may not need to be the smartest person in the room, but their intellectual curiosity and capacity to engage in meaningful conversations about history and other topics resonate deeply with you.
In terms of personality, you appreciate someone who is reserved yet also values independence. You admire individuals who can depend on you and confide in you, but at the same time, you respect their need for personal space and autonomy. A partner who strikes a balance between being emotionally connected and maintaining individuality is highly appealing to you.
Your ideal partner values health and fitness to some extent, demonstrating a commitment to self-care and well-being. While you have a preference for individuals who maintain a healthy lifestyle, you are also understanding and accepting of different body types, as long as your partner prioritizes their health and takes care of themselves.
Culturally, you are intrigued by someone from a different background who can speak another language fluently or nearly fluently. This trait adds a layer of richness to your relationship, fostering opportunities for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. You appreciate diversity and embrace the unique perspectives and traditions that come with it.
Emotionally, you are drawn to individuals who demonstrate emotional intelligence and self-control. You value loyalty, trustworthiness, and effective communication in a relationship, considering them to be fundamental traits for building a strong and enduring connection.
Your ideal partner shares some of your interests and values, but also brings their own unique perspectives and experiences to the relationship. They are intellectually stimulating, adventurous, and open-minded, willing to explore new experiences and embrace life's opportunities alongside you.
In summary, your ideal partner is someone who is intelligent, independent, culturally diverse, emotionally intelligent, and shares your values of loyalty, trustworthiness, and effective communication. They are a companion who not only complements your personality but also enriches your life through their unique qualities and experiences.
So if you’re still interested after all that It’ll be nice to see your dm, N if not ,then have a nice day

2024.05.14 16:17 CuriousAnachronism 24 [M4F] Germany/Europe/Online - For the Hatred of Life

Prologue
Hello and welcome to my post. I will subdivide this into two large parts. One will cover my thoughts, feelings, my hopes and dreams...While the other will tell you the specifics of how I pass the time, what topics interest me, what passions do I posses. I believe that at the end of this leap into my inner world, you dear reader, will have all the necessary information to judge whether we are compatible or not.

Part I
I am writing this in the hopes of finding something that I lack. Lately I have had this feeling, this tinge of melancholy within the dephts of my being, this yearning to find a kindred spirit, another Soul, much like mine, to form a bond with. Perhaps Loneliness is the right word for what is bothering me, but to use it seems to carry with it a connotation of ungratefulness. Ungratefulness for the people that I do have in my life, although none of them, of course, have the connection to me that I seek here.

I have found it increasingly necessary to seek in this Life a sort of purity of thought. What I mean is, I have began to undestand what ideas and concepts are ultimately compatible with my inner most Self, ergo what guidelines I have to follow to feel the most whole. Naturally I have likewise realised what I cannot add to my Self and what I will henceforth reject with all the power that I posses.

With this new context in mind, I now follow on the path of self improvement. I will now begin to mold my Self into my perfected idea of how the Self should be. This is certainly a significant undertaking, one that will not be easy to follow through on but one that I ultimately have to do. To me such context is essential. It is akin to a Guiding Star shining in the night. I will follow this Star for without it I am lost in the vast Darkness.

Looking back at my life, it was suboptimal, especially if one compares the way it molded me to how I will now mold myself. I suppose I must look on with a hint of regret at all that time which one might consider to be lost. Still... I try to stave off such decisively negative interpretations, after all, I have ultimately came to these conclusions. That means that somewhere along the line I had to have picked up on enough of such ideas for them to become so cemented in my consciousness. Well, either that or I was always like this, but in that case I can at least thank my life up to this point for not being able to supress such manifestations of my inner most Self.

To add to the topic of my life, I must admit that not all the battles have yet been won, not all the Demons vanquished, not every Mountain climbed. I want you to keep such things in mind when deciding whether or not to approach me. Many will shy away, I undestand that much, but the pursuit of true Companionship is just another such battle. Having said all that I do believe that being able to overcome hurdles together carries with it a certain appeal. That is to say, what's the fun in joining once the Game is already over?

I don't shy away from such challenges, perhaps to a fault. Certain troubles that I faced in the past carry with them a long shadow over my current health and well being. Still, I intend to change little in this regard other than the proficiency with which I will clash the current of my Will against the cliffs of Life.
Part II
In this part of my post I will tell you about my interests and hobbies, I will try to be thorough, commonality in this regard is rather important to build a relationship
History. I have had an interest in history for almost a decade now, it started back in school and developed from there. Well, now that I think about it one could argue that it started even earlier in my life as I liked watching the odd historic documentary or film aired on television but it wasn't regular back then, I never actively sought it out. I am mostly interested in European history in the period between the 18th-20th century but I sometimes branch out to other time periods and other parts of the world. I watch various channels related to history and read articles and sometimes books. I have recently got a few books on the German revolution of 1848/1849 and a historical magazine on the Thirty Years' War. Besides that I try to visit museums sometimes.
Literature. Especially old novels. I like to immerse myself in the Worlds of these books, I tend to read them while listening to thematically fitting music and take my time with them. One time you are following a troubled Youth in his quest for spiritual understanding of the world, another you see the aged and decrepit Doctor gambling his very Soul on the promises of abtaining satisfaction in earthy pleasures, then again your olfaction notices the most pleasant scent known to man even as the one eminating it has the appearance of a revolting Frog. These and many other stories open up to you once you decide to set foot into the literary World.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I am currently working intently on strengthening it. I believe that if I continue to apply myself in this regard then I should be able to finally conquer it. What language am I working on? Well, if you were to stack all the major works in it they would be as tall as a house... It is fun to go through different works in multiple languages, the same goes for film, games and such.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Well as recently as I played any major story centric game. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad. The main questline at least. Besides that I tried Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and I might give Deus Ex Manking Divided another spin (since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk when it comes to its aesthetics). Dark Souls is one of my favorite series, I still haven't beaten Elden Ring though. When it came out I wasn't in the right mindset to invest a hundred hours into it, with all those bosses and difficult locations. I think I'll only consider playing it if I am streaming it to someone. I am generally interested in either streaming games or having the person I am talking to stream them to me. To be specific I mean streaming to a single person while being on call. Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games, especially Europa Universalis IV and Heats of Iron IV, I tend to only play single player since I find multiplayer with many people to be rather stressful but on the other hand I have nothing against a co-op game. I'm not the best player though, despite the ammount of hours I have in them. Another great game I would mention would be Dragon's Dogma. A very underrated RPG. I recently beat it again and it was an atmospheric and interesting experience. It is one of those games that feel like they have an endless ammount of depth and constant new secrets to discover.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest in them has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good first season from the new arc of Bleach. Some of my favourite series include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass, Code Geass and Attack on Titan. I wouldn't mind if you were to introduce me to some new series, maybe based on the ones I mentioned. My favourite Manga is Berserk which I still follow, althought I am still not certain on the direction that the new author is taking. I suppose it really is a matter of contention whether a somewhat (or considerably warped) vision is better than an unfinished work. One could argue that a few novels remain unfinished and possess a macabre appeal to them as such.
Music. Classical music has a very special place in my heart. A few of my favourite pieces would be: Clair de Lune, Nocturne Op. 9 No.2, Devil's Trill Sonata, Danse Macabre, Valse Sentimentale, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92: II. Alegreto (by Beethoven) and Suite from Swan Lake, Op. 20a: I. Scene. Moderato. There are more but these ones always invoke something in me when I listen to them. Besides Classical I also enjoy listening to Synthwave, old Western pop and J-pop, both modern and from the 20th century.
Esotericism. I am interested in things spiritual, mystical, magical and esoteric. I have read religios texts, magical grimoires, introductions to various schools of thought. It is interesting to me.
Epilogue
Hopefully I was able to cast the spotlight upon my inner World in a clear and unequivocal manner. I feel the need to add to the aforementioned that I am rather introverted, which means that I tend to dislike large social gatherings. I managed to condition myself to be able to endure the presense of large groups of people but it isn't something that I would seek out in most cases. Besides that I am neurodivergent and suffer from certain issues with mental health. I have to take medication to keep myself under control. They work well enough but certain days are harder than others. I respect the struggle that others have with mental health but in the context of a relationship I have my limits, no one with BDP for instance. I am also not looking for anything casual. I understand than one cannot demand depth and meaning from a conversation with an absolute stranger, that is akin to trying to build a sand castle right before the waves strike but I ask at least that you enter with a mindset that this might become something of significance. I also do want to say that I am completely Monogamous. My preference? The sickly, pale, intellectual who watches rain droplets slide down the window in Autumn. Lastly, if I enjoy the company of a person I tend to not want to let them go.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a good day. I ask that you send a DM instead of a chat and that you give your thoughts on my title in the opening of your message.
Goodbye...Or perhaps untill we meet again

Here, we explore five essential qualities that every effective security guard in Vancouver should possess.

1. Vigilance and Awareness

Vigilance stands as the cornerstone of effective security operations. Security guards Vancouver must possess an exceptional level of alertness to detect abnormal activities or potential threats before they escalate. This quality is particularly crucial in bustling urban environments like Vancouver where the scope of oversight extends from monitoring large crowds to overseeing remote corners of a property. 2. Physical Fitness

Physical fitness is vital for several reasons. First, it ensures that a guard can respond swiftly in emergencies, whether it requires running to catch a perpetrator or moving quickly to assist in a crisis. In Vancouver, with its diverse terrain and occasionally extreme weather conditions, guards may also need to navigate different environments effectively. Regular fitness training and health check-ups are beneficial for guards to maintain their physical readiness.

3. Excellent Communication Skills

Communication is key in the roles of a security guard. They must be able to convey information clearly and calmly under pressure, both to the people they are protecting and to law enforcement officers during critical times. Effective communication also involves excellent listening skills, as guards need to process instructions and information accurately. For example, during large events in Vancouver like the Celebration of Light, security guards must coordinate closely with each other to manage the crowd efficiently and ensure public safety.

4. Good Judgment and Decision-Making Abilities

Security guards often face situations where they must make quick decisions that could have significant consequences. This requires good judgment and the ability to assess situations swiftly and effectively. Training in risk assessment and conflict resolution can enhance a guard's decision-making skills, equipping them to handle various scenarios they might encounter in Vancouver’s diverse settings—from corporate buildings to outdoor festivals.

5. Reliability and Integrity

Reliability and integrity are fundamental qualities for anyone in a security role. Security guards are trusted to protect assets and ensure the safety of others, often with minimal supervision. Thus, they must demonstrate a high degree of dependability and ethical standards. In Vancouver, where security guards may handle emergencies or protect valuable information and assets, their trustworthiness makes them invaluable. Moreover, their commitment to ethical behavior fosters a safe and secure atmosphere for everyone on the premises.
In conclusion, the effectiveness of security guards in Vancouver hinges on a combination of personal attributes and professional skills. These qualities not only help guards perform their duties efficiently but also enhance the overall security and safety of the environments they are tasked to protect. As crime dynamics and social interactions continue to evolve in urban settings like Vancouver, the role of a well-trained, vigilant, and reliable security guard has never been more important. These professionals are on the front lines of maintaining order and safety, proving indispensable in today’s ever-changing society.

2024.05.14 16:03 novaleenationstate Medical malpractice suit over miscarriage complications?

A little over a year ago, I was diagnosed with a molar pregnancy and told that the pregnancy was not viable. I was in between PCP providers (had relocated recently), but was referred to someone who diagnosed the molar pregnancy,l and then referred me to a different OBGYN who they claimed had more experience with molars, and who would be better able to perform the D&C. That specialist couldn’t fit me in for a couple of weeks, so I had to wait.
When they finally did perform the D&C, it was about 3 weeks after the initial molar diagnosis (and about a 5 weeks after I’d first seen the doctor; I was about 12 weeks along when the D&C was performed). The procedure seemed to go as normal; two weeks after it I had a post-op checkup where the specialist said everything looked good and like I was healing like normal. I felt better, everything seemed in the clear, and I was ready to move forward.
About 2.5 weeks after that post-op checkup for the D&C, I was just eating breakfast and stood up to put my bowl in the sink, and suddenly had a massive hemorrhage. I started to pass out within a few minutes, and my partner kept me conscious and called for an ambulance.
I ended up having two additional massive hemorrhages within 24 hours at the hospital and ended up hospitalized for five days. The team at this hospital (separate from the one I’d gone to for the first D&C) said that the first D&C had been incomplete and there was still a significant amount of tissue that had not been removed. It had started to spread, it had placed significant pressure on my right femoral artery, and that contributed to the massive hemorrhaging. Ended up needing an Angioseal on my right femoral artery, as well as a blood transfusion and a second D&C. Up until day 4 at the hospital, they were telling me there was a significant possibility that they would need to perform an emergency hysterectomy in order to save my life, and if the second D&C failed. Because it was a confirmed molar pregnancy via genetic testing and my HCG levels were abnormally high, they said there was a cancer risk attached and if those HCG levels did not drop after the second D&C, I would likely need to undergo chemotherapy.
Ultimately, the procedures they did seem to have worked; I did not undergo an emergency hysterectomy, did weekly blood tests after being discharged to monitor HCG levels (which dropped significantly after), and at my post-stay checkup a month later, they said I was looking good and they did not think chemotherapy would be necessary. I haven’t had any events/medical emergencies since.
However, I struggled with depression virtually all of last year. I have no pre-existing chronic health issues, never stayed in the hospital that long ever, and I’m in my mid 30s and have no kids (but partner and I do want them). I never had a miscarriage or anything before that. For the last year, I have struggled with general loss of energy and fatigue (which affected my job performance), intrusive thoughts and nightmares about hemorrhaging again, and with general sadness and anxiety about everything in that area. And I’m terrified about trying for another pregnancy even though I do want children because I’m terrified of having the experience happen again. Two different therapists last year believed I was experiencing PTSD from medical trauma related to the event, on top of depression.
Last year, I just did not have the strength or will to do much of anything and focused on just surviving/making it through the day. I did not speak to any lawyers and also was on the fence about whether I even should try to—never did a medical malpractice suit and not even sure if I’d have one, since technically I did not ultimately need an emergency hysterectomy. Also was hesitant because of the stigma around medical malpractice suits. It’s been a little over a year now, not sure if my time has run out there, but am wondering, would it be worthwhile to reach out to an attorney?

2024.05.14 16:01 catmeowcats do entry level jobs with livable wages exist in lawrence that are hiring now?

just tried working a 12-hour shift warehouse job that had 2 and 3 days in a row. the constant standing and repetitive motions really exacerbated my health and joint issues. i can definitely stand on my feet for 8 hours, just not 12 😅😅. i’m losing hope for finding a job that fits my life. i have five years food service experience and 2.5 years warehouse experience and i am very burnt out on both of those. would go back in to food service if i really had to but wages are awful. i’ve thought about being a bartender before but have 0 experience (unless hospitality and customer service count). apologies for the long-ish rant, life sucks rn and i don’t want to suffer for a paycheck 🥲

2024.05.14 15:59 needadviceplease8910 Shared Care referred on to a mental health unit, help?

So, I don't know if anyone else here has same experience, or if my area is weird?
I initially went to my GP to enquire about ASD assessment. The GP fobbed me off, I was in the room for 5 minutes, they told me "we don't do that." When I pressed, they told me to google. I was previously (I think wrongly) diagnosed with a mood disorder & a PD, so I felt it was weird the GP just instantly dismissed me.
After that I got a surprise phone appt with a nurse from the local mental health unit on the NHS as there was a "significant change in my mental state" (no follow up from the GP, just this call) I said again, no I'm looking for an ASD assessment, my mood is okay right now, but I want to make sure my medication & diagnosis is correct. I was told: "Oh okay, well we don't do that"
The private clinic I saw told me, to them, I obviously had both ASD & ADHD. I did two full separate assessments, as well as assessments for other mental health disorders (OCD and PDs) to rule those out. There are several, pages of reports provided from the clinic, as well as follow up letters by the care team about my meds. I definitely feel this team listened to and offered good care to me, it wasn't a quick "check list" it was really involved.
I didn't bother the GP or unit at the time I applied for the ADHD assessment as I thought it would be the same result, I didn't know ASD & ADHD were at all similar. I didn't really research, I was advised by others to get assessed after the current media around women with ASD, as they believed it "fit" me.
The GP said they won't offer shared care, at all. Only via the mental health unit. The people at the unit confirmed this and said that they only do shared care in specific circumstances and it's likely I'll be swapped back onto an NHS waiting list - that I didn't even know I could apply to be on!
She even said "well this is what happens when there are people trying to skip the queue" (I wasn't, I wanted genuine help and no-one would help me.) She did confirm they don't deal, whatsoever, with ASD assessments, which is really confusing.
Sorry for the ramble but if anyone has got this far: a) have you ever heard of this? the clinic I'm with has been so helpful but are also very confused by it. b) if you've been referred to the NHS queue, and done their assessment, after a private one, have you been refused care? c) is the NHS assessment as involved? my family had to be involved with a lot of the history provision which is really difficult in my circumstances.

2024.05.14 15:53 auttiev What are everyone’s motivations?

My motivation is looks. I feel like I love everything about me BUT my weight. I simply want the looks to match. My health is my other driver. I want to feel good and light. I am carrying so much on my body and it makes me very uncomfortable. I’m aware of every once and it drives me nuts lol. I look at myself and I think there is so much room for improvement and upgrade. I recently bought new clothes and they are all 2 sizes too small on purpose. I want to fit those by the end of summer. I want to know what everyone else is doing this for? Health, aesthetics, self care?

2024.05.14 15:10 flyfightandgrin Take charge of your life..............a guide to development

I posted a few days with steps for finding purpose at our age group. It had a LOT of great responses and follow up suggestions (plus a few batshit accusations/observations, that's Reddit for you).
I made a TikTok today about life design. I grew up with 90% of my family being drug addicts or in jail. I moved 16 times by the time I was 17, I failed out of high school and college. I moved out at 17 and moved out of state by 19. I had to figure it out on my own. Life is a challenging teacher.
Today I have a PhD, live in my dream apt with floor to ceiling windows, own two companies, and havent had a boss in 8 years. I wrote 12 books and have complete time freedom. I'm not Scrooge Mcduck rich, but comfortable.
Here is how to create the life you want:
Remember one core philosophy: You control your education, fitness level, relationship status, income, job, and where you live. ALL of these can be adjusted. At ANY age.
Most miserable people don't practice self leadership.
They get up and are reactive vs proactive. They have given up on a vision of who they could be.
Never stop dreaming (ex: Willy Wonka, tap into creativity)
Today I woke up at 430am, after I type this out, Ill be at the gym by 630am. Ill then go run, and start my work day at home by around 8:15am. Ill issue a press release for a Hollywood actor in Cobra Kai, create some PR content, and do some media pitches for clients. I'm going to sign up for a free PR cert online that will take 4 days, then Ill go to a business meetup tonight to catch up with friends.
Just by living like this, I tap into 5/6 of the areas above. This is how growth happens.
If you feel unfulfilled in life, here is how to design better: Health/Fitness
Eat more greens, exercise or walk 3x a week, journal or sketch for mental health, get outside more
Relationships
Reduce time on the dating apps, use Meetup.com to find events in your area, make a friend list and actively rotate and support your friend group
Education
Sign up for local classes or take free online courses at MIT/Harvard/Coursera
Income Create a course, write an Ebook, start a paid membership site, teach workshops, do consulting, write a paperback, create an event, develop a skill online and sell it. The internet gives you access to the world. Use it.
Job
I created my dream job. I had ZERO experience and none of my degrees are in my field. Once you nail down what you LOVE doing, you can create a business model around it. If you have a desired career and want to work for someone, Monster.com, placement agencies, and Linkedin is a great way to find it. Don't work for money, work for satisfaction.
I hope this resonates with many of you. Life design is not nearly as hard as people think. Doing the work takes effort, but over time you can live MUCH, MUCH better by simple planning.
Got tips for life improvement? Share below~! Got complaints or criticisms? Share them with your dog.

2024.05.14 14:41 fasterpastor2 Mother in Law fine with her husband working himself into an early grave.

I will say this at the start, I do understand being unsure of mixing business with family. Also, there is no guarantee everything will work out perfect. That said... yeah this is a perfect case of women not caring about how much us men sacrifice for their well being.
My mother in law is medically fragile, has been so for years. Father in law dotes on her every need and buys nice furniture she wants, getting her hair done so she can pretend she isn't going gray, and vacations and other things all the time for her. They live above their means because of her. A few years back he talked about seeing HIS family for a change with the stimulus (they had basically no money in the bank at this point) and she threw a fit.
This man has been providing for his family for years and sacrificing his desires and his dreams and even his well being. Despite his working two jobs for decades they don't even own a home (and he makes a reasonable salary) due to the expense of her medical care while she has no job or even seems willing to try.
All of that is all well and good. You say in sickness and in health and all that. She does have some mobility issues and such, though sometimes I wonder if she just likes the attention.
The one thing she HAS been doing is selling bakery goods. She is really good too. I mean, professional grade, no lie. Her husband has bought her all the stuff to do it, invested in getting her cards, etc. She's been selling her confectionaries around town and making some slight return, but not much.
A more well to do brother in law of hers just offered to invest half a million and help her get her business to the next level. Even when I suggested just sell your recipes, work for him a couple years training whoever he hires, and then get out she was like "but I just don't want to do that…you don't know him...he's all about money money money”. I said, with that kind of money you could get a house, "I like our house". I said then buy the house you're renting like you and your husband have been talking about. "Oh I just want to have a little business, I don't want some big thing”.
Idk, if I was my father in law who will never be able to retire and who has supported her all these years and everything, I might just be telling her she's on her own with the medical care from now on or something. This guy has serious health issues and she just doesn't feel like shouldering some of the financial burden. We really are just a meal ticket to women aren't we?
I’ll also add that 4 years ago I approached them with the idea of living in a duplex I owned for free if they just kept an eye on things for me a bit. By now they would have saved enough down payment to easily purchase their own home, even in this economy. Some people just don't want to be helped.

2024.05.14 14:35 Ok_Letterhead_4782 Can I get some opinions on a possible unfair situation I'm dealing with?

So I just graduated from my university with my bachelor's degree (in a health profession) and will be attending the same school this fall for my masters degree. While preparing for grad school, I applied for a scholarship offered by my school and applied for a GA position, but unfortunately, I'll be starting grad school with neither. I'm obviously upset because I wasn't considered, but I also feel frustrated because of the circumstances surrounding these situations. I could use opinions on whether I'm acting irrationally because of hurt feelings or if I'm involved in a potentially unfair situation.
When I was applying for my school's masters program, I only applied to one of the merit-based scholarships that they offered. While I did do this for financial reasons (the scholarship I applied to offered the biggest financial reward), I also did this because I believed I didn't fully qualify for the other scholarships (for example, one scholarship stated it would show preference to a student that had experience and wanted to work with clients of a specific age with a specific diagnosis, and I lack experience with this demographic). So I knew that I had a small chance of receiving any scholarship money from my school, given my own decison to only apply for one. It turns out that applying didn't even matter though, as I found out that more than one person was rewarded with one of these scholarships, even though they stated themselves that they never even applied for them. How is it fair for someone to be granted a scholarship they didn't apply to? Each scholarship required letters of rec and a personal statement outlining why they'd be a good fit, personal experience, and proof of commitment towards our field. How could they get these scholarships without putting in the necessary requirements? And, of course, this made me wonder that if an application didn't matter, why wasn't I considered?
I'm also frustrated with what's been happening with the GA position. Faculty gave us a vague idea of when the applications for this position would open, but never ACTUALLY announced it to us at large. It took me checking our school's career page every week to see if applications had opened. When I asked a professor for a letter of rec for my application, they accidentally revealed that some of my other classmates had already asked for a letter, and thus, had already applied. So not only did our program fail to inform all of us of when the applications opened, but some of my own classmates knew about it and kept it to themselves. During the last week of class, I found out that I had qualified for an interview. I heavily prepared for my interview and honestly thought I did really well, but I wasn't chosen. I don't know how many other people also got an interview (it definitely wasn't everyone who applied), but I do know of some other people who got an interview, and I have a gut feeling that they might've been chosen. And tbh, if it was just them and me who made it to the interview process, I never stood a chance. I have nothing against them; they're incredibly kind and considerate people who have also worked hard to succeed in our program and extracurriculars. We all get along well even if we have our different friend groups. However, there's definitely an ounce of preferential treatment that sometimes goes their way that has been felt by myself and others. This is obviously all speculation, because I don't actually know if they're the ones who were chosen, but I was taken aback that upon hearing that I wasn't considered, some of my other classmates came to the same idea/conclusion that I did: that they must've been chosen for the positions. I can't help but wonder if they really are the ones who were chosen, and I can't stop wondering what it is that I'm lacking in comparison.
It's not like I was an irresponsible student either. I graduated with honors and a 3.86 gpa. I was part of our program's club and also served on the executive board for it. I never had a missed or late assignment and I only missed class once due to an illness that was excused. I performed well during clinicals, being given full marks by my supervisors, and more than once, my professors referenced my work ethic and diligence in succeeding in the work/expectations they gave me. Rationally, I know that they were also qualified, but given past experiences, I can't help but think that part of the reason I wasn't chosen for any of the scholarships or the position may be due to preferential treatment.
Someone please tell me if i'm reacting like a butthurt child or if my concerns are warranted. I'm more upset than anything after finding out I wasn't considered for either of these opportunities (and not knowing why), and I need to know if i'm being irrational.

2024.05.14 14:23 micro-pc-tech-inc Oliver Rose - How to Overcome from anxiety

Oliver Rose is a blogger by profession and health lover by passion. Oliver Rose loves to share content related to health, fitness, etc. Anxiety is the most common thing nowadays due to work stress or any other related things. In this post, Oliver Rose is sharing tips to overcome from anxiety.
Overcoming anxiety can be a journey that involves various strategies and techniques. Here are some approaches that can help:
  1. Seek Professional Help: If you're struggling with anxiety, consider seeking support from a mental health professional such as a therapist or counselor. They can provide guidance, support, and evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or medication if needed.
  2. Practice Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: Mindfulness meditation, deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and other relaxation techniques can help reduce anxiety symptoms by promoting a sense of calm and relaxation. Regular practice can also improve resilience to stress over time.
  3. Challenge Negative Thoughts: Cognitive-behavioral techniques involve identifying and challenging negative thought patterns that contribute to anxiety. Replace irrational or exaggerated thoughts with more realistic and balanced ones.
  4. Stay Active: Regular physical activity has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety by releasing endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. Find activities you enjoy, whether it's walking, yoga, dancing, or sports, and aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week.
  5. Limit Caffeine and Alcohol: Caffeine and alcohol can exacerbate anxiety symptoms in some people. Limiting or avoiding these substances, especially in the evening, may help reduce anxiety levels.
  6. Establish a Healthy Routine: Maintain a consistent sleep schedule, eat balanced meals regularly, and prioritize self-care activities that promote relaxation and well-being. A structured routine can provide a sense of stability and predictability, which can help manage anxiety.
  7. Connect with Supportive Relationships: Reach out to friends, family members, or support groups for emotional support and encouragement. Sharing your feelings and experiences with trusted individuals can provide validation and perspective.
  8. Set Realistic Goals: Break tasks into smaller, manageable steps and set realistic goals for yourself. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and practice self-compassion when things don't go as planned.
  9. Limit Media Exposure: Limit exposure to news and social media, especially if certain topics or content trigger your anxiety. Set boundaries around your media consumption and prioritize activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
  10. Consider Self-Help Resources: Books, online resources, and mobile apps can provide valuable information and tools for managing anxiety. Explore self-help materials that resonate with you and incorporate strategies that work best for your individual needs.
Remember that overcoming anxiety is a gradual process, and it's okay to seek help and support along the way. Be patient with yourself and celebrate your progress, no matter how small it may seem.
