2024.05.14 05:19 Mahadhirmahi PAN Card Initials Mess Up

PAN Card Initials Mess Up
Hi community,
Before asking me to read previous posts, I have gone through this sub several times and finally think it's time to ask for help.
My brother recently turned 18 on May 6. So, on the same day, I attempted to fill a PAN application via NSDL which was going through without issues until the E-Sign part where the application was returned due to 'mismatch'.
Name as in Aadhaar is : FIRSTNAME LASTNAME A Name in PAN application: FIRSTNAME LASTNAME obviously because the application doesn't accept single letter Initials.
After referring some posts in this subreddit, understood that a few people with the same issue got their PAN via Instant E-Pan feature in Income Tax E-Filing site and got the PAN allotted within hours, with the name as in Aadhaar including initials.
But for some weird reasons, the digital signature in the E-Pan is not getting validated as Adobe Reader says the signature may be 'corrupted'. Not sure why this would happen. Without a valid digital signature, I can't use this to switch his bank account to a major individual account.
Went to UTIITSL and NSDL (Protean)to request a physical PAN, and UTI says 'PAN not available in Master Record' - even when they checked manually after I asked this question to their customer support, and Protean application portal simply says 'unexpected error'. Tried getting another ePan copy for the same PAN from UTI and that doesn't work too.
Two questions now.
  1. As I only have a epan which doesn't have valid sign, what can I do to get a valid EPan and Physical card?
  2. Digilocker is able to provide signed copy of ePan but it doesn't have a photo on it. Will this be accepted as a valid KYC document by banks?
TLDR: Initials in Aadhaar preventing PAN application and reprint process.

2024.05.14 05:06 ishh_16 Need advice on obtaining Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) for immigration process

Hey everyone,
I'm currently on a student visa in the USA, and my immigration file has just been opened. As part of the process, I need to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). However, I'm facing a hurdle in acquiring it due to the lack of a solid address proof.
I'm living with my paternal aunt, and the only address proof I have is a university letter and a bank statement. Unfortunately, these documents aren't accepted for PCC application purposes.
I'm considering going back to India to get the PCC, but I'm not sure if this is possible or if I'm required to obtain it here in the USA.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice on how I can proceed? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.14 05:05 MichaelfromKroger Writing Development Website/Program

Good evening y'all (it's 11 pm EST)
I'm currently a college student pursuing an IT degree and I was speaking with my father in law about an idea for a writing skills development program. The basis of the program/website is to teach students from Elementary school to the highschool and collegiate level on how to write essays. He posits that his students he has worked with do not have a good grasp on how to format their essays and papers, which then falls short in their future academic courses and he wants to make a program that will help them step by step.
My general layout right now is that it will be split into different levels of writing. From Levels 1 through 5: Elementary, Middle School, High School, College Prep, and Collegiate level writing skills. Within each level, I'll have writing tips and exercises to help the students learn the proper way to write their essays, with the Five Paragraph Essay as the format they will be learning.
Level 1: Sentence Structure, Formatting, and Composition. This includes things like spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc.
Level 2: Adding in proper grammar, sentence continuation, paragraph structure, readability and comprehension, editing skills (rereading to make sure it is grammatically correct, has proper punctuation, sounds academically thought out, etc). We'll introduce how to write and connect multiple paragraphs as well as intro, body, and conclusion.
Level 3: Here we'll reinforce sentence structure for Intro, body, and conclusion paragraphs as well as citation and source material research. We'll start on how to properly write a Five paragraph essay with the hourglass/pyramid format (Broad introduction that gets more specific when it gets to the thesis sentence, body paragraphs with point evidence and example sentences, and then specific reintroduction of main points to a broad conclusion of the thesis). [I may have this in the Middle school Level 2 section as this is something I learned in middle school] We will also introduce different types of essays such as Argumentative, Systhesis, Compare and Contrast, Narrative, Persuasive, etc.
Level 4: In this level we will introduce the importance of rough draft, revise and polish, editing and formatting, and college entrance essays and college application questions. This section will mostly be open to Junior (11th) and Senior (12th) grade students who are preparing for their academic life outside of Highschool. We will also be introducing how to write cover letters, resumes, and exploring the other side of life outside of High school.
Level 5: Collegiate level writing will focus on precision writing, using the fewest words necessary to accurately convey an idea. Objectivity, using accurate, clear and relevant information. Logical Structure, using precise word choice and structure. Researching, Formatting, time management, and consistence and conciseness. We will also go back to resume and cover letter writing for those who are looking for a career after a degree. We will be adding a section to help students with term paper writing as well as advancement (Masters and Doctorate level) writing.
I wanted to reach out to former, current, and aspiring English Teachers to ask for feedback on this idea. Is this something that you would use in your class as a teaching tool for your students? What can be done for this to be implemented in your classes if this website/program gets published? What things should be added, removed, improved, or changed in the current idea to make it go alongside the current English course curriculum in your school district? What else should be included to facilitate user interaction with this website?
Please give me as much feedback as you can think of, whether that is directly on this post or in a direct message. My hope and goal is to be able to develop the future generation and to move away from using AI as a writing tool because it takes away the practical skills that is severely lacking in some, if not most, of the students today.

2024.05.14 05:04 malpacca90 Is letter of recommendation from gap year experience necessary?

Hi all! I took a gap year in the middle of college due to the pandemic and ended up doing full-time research for a year with a lab and was an author on a publication with them. However, I was wondering if it would be necessary to get a recommendation letter from that PI if I have other, more recent research experiences which I have done for longer (i.e. I've been working at my current lab for 2 years) and are more relevant to the narrative of my application?
Additionally, I don't think the PI who I worked with on my gap year really knows me that well and is not a strong writer in general, so I was wondering if it would be better to get a recommendation letter from a professor who knows me better?
(BTW I am only applying to MD programs, not MD-PhD)

Additional Information:
i go to a pretty competitive high school in a relatively wealthy area and learned about the process, got high hopes, and honestly got a little prestige obsessed around my junior year. I had five dream schools (brown, ucla, washu, northwestern, and georgetown) and ended up getting rejected from all of them which was both a total punch in the gut and a much needed wake up call. the decision for me based on fit and financials came down to maryland, washington, and davis, and as a result of the really generous merit aid i recieved at umd as well as the university's perfect location near washington DC, it was just the perfect fit. After visiting the school, I totally fell in love with the campus, the culture, and having a big 10 sports program definitely didn't hurt it. looking back on everything, i was totally naïve and applied to a ton of schools, which thankfully worked out for my targets, but i was at one point certain that i would get into at least one of my reaches. in the end, im really glad that i didnt get into any of them because i would have never considered maryland, a school i almost didnt even apply to. also, as a jewish student, the thriving jewish community on maryland's campus is really comforting, especially with everything going on right now at colleges. congrats to all of this years seniors and good luck to all the incoming seniors with their apps! and if youre going to maryland next year, hmu!!!

2024.05.14 04:54 Wowzaitstorii Is this a normal apartment application process?

I (22) applied for my first apartment May 1st, my roommate applied May 2nd. The desired move in date is for July 1st. I used my offer letter as my proof of income to which they asked for a signed version of it from my manager. I couldn't get it signed by my job because it's a large company and my offer was done digitally over a year ago (I interned there last summer and received a full time offer then).
After 2 days going back and forth with the LC, ultimately they wouldn't take my offer letter and when I asked if I could put my parents as a cosigner they said they'll just use my roommates current income/co-signer as my proof since my credit is in "good standing".
My roommate and I were told that we would hear the news of the application either "today or tomorrow" on may 6th (monday). On wednesday we didn't hear anything so my roommate calls. The LC was out of office so whoever answered the phone told us we were approved and we would get more information later in the week. Today's saturday and we didn't hear anything.
I reach out first by calling to which I got no answer. Afterwards I text in the portal and an hour or so later the LC apologies because she was off and would "send us a link to pay our deposit with in 48 hours." I assumed she meant within 48 hours we would need to pay, but now rereading I think she meant in 48 hours it will be posted to pay.
She then follows up and says when we're in the portal we won't see a charge for the deposit but we can make a payment that will show as a credit until the charge is posted. She also says the lease and welcome email will be sent closer to, however july 1st is in 2 months, so I would prefer to sign the lease sooner because I am coming from out of state.
Update: it's been past 48 hours and still no deposit charge. I asked ad the LC said leases are typically sent out 2-3 weeks before the move in date. My older sister's experiece has always been to recieve the lease asap after applying. Is this normal?

2024.05.14 04:45 DirtyLawyer Consolidation pending, Navient Forbearance?

I posted 2 weeks ago, here is the current situation:
I have about $22k in FFELP loans with Navient (not held by US Dept of Ed). 2004 - 2018 I was with a PSLF eligible employer. So, I already have the 120+ payments from 2007-2018. However, I haven't been employed FT with a PSLF eligible employer since early 2018. I am now taking FT position with a different PSLF eligible employer.
I applied for direct loan consolidation on 4/29/2024, so I will get the one-time payment count adjustment back to 2007.
5/13/2024 I got aidVantage letter acknowledging consolidation application and my interest in PSLF.
QUESTION: my Navient payment is due on 5/16/2024. Do you recommend I call Navient and get into some sort of admin forbearance? I do not want to pay them anything more while my consolidation in processing as I intend to get PSLF immediately once they begin processing in July.
Any suggestions on how to handle this? Thanks!

2024.05.14 04:43 HypemanFN The job market is absolutely ridiculous right now

The job market is absolutely ridiculous right now
Usually I just take rejections on the chin, go to the next application and keep trying my best, but this is crazy. I am currently in college, I have a strong gpa with experience in mostly retail when it comes to the professional world. Being a comp sci major, I want to get some experience in my field so I can set myself up for the future and get my career going. But this right here? Depressing. Infuriating. Demoralizing even. Like, how? How hard is it to answer a phone and provide help to a customer, I’ve done it since I was 16 years old, how do I NOT meet the requirements? Companies say people don’t want to work hard anymore and I think I know why. I don’t mean to be insufferable or entitled, like I said i usually just take this on the chin but this is around my 50th rejection letter for a basic entry level position paying less than $25,000 a year.

2024.05.14 04:36 XAP2020 Rejected: What Went Wrong?

The visa application for my wife got rejected this morning. Needless to say I'm devasted since I was hoping she would be able to go with me to spend time with my grandfather who is terminally ill with cancer. I keep re-reading the rejection reasons but I cannot make heads or tails of them.
  1. "In support of your application you have submitted a Metrobank statement. Whilst I do acknowledge that this account shows regular deposits being made throughout, it is not demonstrated that these deposits are from family members as you have declared this is your source of income. I am therefore not satisfied your financial circumstances are as declared."
As her sponsor these deposits are made by me. I presume the complaint is that on her bank statement the transactions are shortened so you can't actually see my full name. However I also submitted my own bank statement that shows the outgoing transfers being made to her account so I don't get why they can't be cross referenced.
  1. "Furthermore, you have submitted an affidavit signed by your spouse, however this document is a self-declaration which has been obtained for the purpose of your application. I am not satisfied your financial circumstances are as stated."
I'm confused by this because the application required a letter of support to written by the sponsor aka me so I don't get how this would be done without a 'self-declaration obtained for the purpose of the application'. The officer also once again doesn't seem to like the "financial circumstances" despite showing over £200k in available funds.
  1. "In addition, in consideration of your family ties I note the statements made by you in your visa application and supporting information which indicate that your relatives will remain in your home country. Whilst I accept that this is a positive indicator of the family ties you hold to your home country, given my significant concerns regarding your economic ties listed above, I am not satisfied that the presence of your relatives in your home country acts to sufficiently tip the balance of probabilities to satisfy me that you intend to depart the UK at the end of the period stated by you, nor that you seek entry for a purpose that is permitted under the visitor rules."
We submitted evidence showing that we've been on about eight holidays in the past 1.5 years, including one that required a visa and that they were all kind of lavish. I just don't understand how in his mind he is thinking that my wife is trying to surreptiously gain entry into the UK to work some minimum wage job illegally.
Any advice would be appreciated.

2024.05.14 04:33 ResidentEngineer314 Transferring NYS license to VA

I moved from NY to VA last May but hadn't changed my DMV record. Anyway, now I am going to switch my license and registration to VA. Can I still get VA license with history of license suspension on NYS 10 years or more ago? The license suspension was due to failier of traffic ticket. Once I got the suspension letter, I paid the fine and additional charges in full and restored NYS my license and have been driving with valid NYS lisnece. I am asking this because, VA DL application form has a question "Has your license or privilege to drive ever been suspended, revoked, or disqualified in this state or elsewhere?" and wondering how previous suspension would impact transferring to VA. Thanks.

2024.05.14 04:16 Throwaway-9726 Emergency Department Falsified Records

I posted this earlier under my normal account, but I decided I wanted a bit of anonymity.
I had a very traumatic emergency department visit last year. I wrote a complaint, and it was pages long. Most of the issues were resolved in some way, maybe not to my full satisfaction but enough. I won't go into those.
The part that they lied about were times medications were given and times when they checked in to take my vitals.
The vitals weren't taken... I was left in the isolation cell for over 9 hours without any in-person contact with any human being. There is no way I could have slept through them coming in because a) I couldn't sleep and b) The door opening is super loud because it is like a jail door. They claimed they took them throughout the night.
I wasn't given my medication in the morning until about 2.5 hours late, which I get happens. But they claimed I got it on time which was not true.
Basically they said that I was so emotional that I wasn't remembering things correctly. I WAS emotional, for sure, but I was very, very aware of what was going on during that period of time. Plus, I was allowed to have my phone with me, so I have multiple text messages throughout the night to a couple of loved ones with comments about waiting for a nurse to come in to check my vitals, and eventually of me asking my loved ones to call the hospital to push for more urgency regarding my medications.
I even requested the camera footage. Initially, the department that deals with the footage was like, "Yup, no problem. Should have to you within 24 hours because there were no other patients in the footage (because it was only me in the isolation room obviously)." Then I get an e-mail the next day saying that it was too late to get the footage. So they allowed the footage to get taped over even though there was an open complaint regarding the above issues along with a nurse threatening me with restraint twice for no legitimate reason. One would think that they would want the footage to help provide professional education to that nurse for future issues.
One Doctor also put another lie in my file which I won't even get into. I did get them to write a letter to somewhat resolve that issue, but the letter won't show up on my main health record, it would only be accessible to someone who was digging deep.
I don't normally care what people think about me, but to have inaccuracies on my record with no recourse, no opportunity to have my rebuttal officially on record, it just kills me. It is one thing if people dislike me because they don't like my personality. It is one thing if people are gossiping about me. It is one thing of some rando makes up lies and spreads them around. Those things would not be an issue for me. But for lies to be on my official record, and for them to only really be included to cover their butt once I made a complaint - well, that hurts and it scares me. Plus, my complaint was very specific that I did not want ANYONE to get into trouble, even the nurse who threatened restraints. I just wanted policies to be updates and professional development to occur. These are the people I am supposed to trust when I am at my absolute worst. Guess I was a little too idealistic.

"Tell us more about what you'll do in Canada. Include dates."
I am intending to write that she will be travelling with me during my holidays throughout the year. Visiting tourist attractions and exploring different cities of Canada whilst taking care of her. I want her to meet my girlfriend also and spend time with her that I am planning to marry soon.
Is that a good response?
Also, please suggest or share your experience on how can I prove her strong ties with home country. She has no assets or properties. Just a living husband and a married daughter who got married recently.
I want to ensure that my responses are the safest with minimal chances of rejection; adhering to the requirements of Super Visa.
Thank you so much!

2024.05.14 03:33 silentstone7 Denied Before Submitting Online Application

I started my online application a month ago. I put in all my personal information, but when I got to the doctors information, I realized I didn't have a recent test result that I needed, so I saved my application for later. I received a letter in the mail from SSA saying I had 6 months to finish my application. Today, I received a copy of the test results in the mail from my doctor along with a denial letter from the SSA.
I never submitted my application! The information I had entered was very incomplete, I had only entered 2 of my 12 doctors and none of my test results. I never even got to the RFC forms and other documentation I had ready to submit.
Do I need to appeal this decision in the next 30 days with all my information?
Or do I need to start a new application?
Or do I need to call the SSA?
I'm really not sure what to do now, and appreciate any advice.

2024.05.14 03:15 ClueFunny4422 BOWP Insight & Clarification

Hello all,
I am currently planning on submitting my express entry profile I did TEF test and booked IELTS test this upcoming Sunday May 19, I plan on applying as soon as I get my IELTS results to complete my profile.
My current PGWP expires mid-October but I plan to apply latest by begining June. My question regarding BOWP is I need clarification on when you can apply which states that it is after receiving AOR.
• After submitting your EE profile in the pool how long does it roughly take to get AOR?
• Is it automatic to receive AOR after submitting your EE profile since its technically "an Acknowledgement letter that confirms IRCC has received your application"
• Would you guys suggest to apply BOWP (if I have received AOR) when my PGWP is about to expire so as to take advantage of long processing times to remain on implied status for abit longer?
• Lastly what is the typical length/duration of a BOWP once its issued? Is it extendable? If so typically for how long or how many times?
I am stressing out abit about running out of status because not only would I have to go back home to wait for an ITA but I currently live with my younger sister who doesn't work because she's at school full time and I basically take care of everything. Any answers or suggestions are highly appreciated!

2024.05.14 03:01 Efficient-Stress9462 Employer Docking Sick Time As Pay from Final Paycheck

Question: has anyone ever heard of a case where an employer claimed an employee used more paid sick time than they earned and then docked the sick time from their final paycheck?
This is not my personal issue but I'm helping a friend. My friend recently resigned from his job. He has kept all of his paystubs, in which he accrued paid sick time at each pay period. As of approximately when he quit his job, he had accrued about 35 sick hours and used 30, leaving a balance of 5 paid sick hours. his boss sent him a message saying that he had taken more paid sick time than what he had earned for the year. His boss cited Massachusetts sick time law. my friend said that he had not used any paid sick time and had the pay stubs to prove it.
My friend got the boss's wife on the phone and said that although he had extra hours from last year, they would still be docking him nearly 18 hours of sick time from his final paycheck. The boss's wife said that they give a certain amount of paid sick time at the beginning of the year to use, and the employees accrue it as they go. She said if he had waited one more week before quitting, this would not have happened. She said that she had forgotten to warn him about using his sick time so fast and it was her fault. my friend once again insisted the sick time he took was unpaid and he had the pay stubs to prove it. the boss's wife cited the Massachusetts sick time law and told them to look it up.
My friend got a letter in the mail now from his former employer indicating they had docked his final paycheck because he owed them 17.5 paid sick hours. They cited the Attorney General Fair Labor Division, and indicated it would be enclosed in the envelope, but the applicable law was not included. According to the letter, he had worked 640 hours and only was eligible for 12.90 hours of paid sick time.
Can anyone help me here? There's plenty of law about not being compensated for unused sick time, but nothing about being docked for overused sick time. I've read the MA sick time law many times and I have no idea where they are getting this conclusion from.

2024.05.14 02:52 SloaneWulfandKrennic [Event] A Tale of Two Interviews

MONTERREY ENQUIRER - INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH EDITION A Tale of Two Interviews
Just recently the Monterrey Enquirer received the interview notes from two of our correspondents, Enrique Krauze and Lucas Hernandez, who were able to interview Canadian Prime Minister Leoanrd Damphousse and President La Follette of Wisconsin. We have provided a summary and comparison of the interviews for our readers.
The Cause of the Canadian-Wisconsin Disputes
Our correspondents asked both leaders about the tensions between Wisconsin and Canada.
The president blamed the tensions on Canada patrolling ‘Lake Wisconsin’ which, rather than reducing piracy and trade interdiction, played a part in spreading it to the lakes. Additionally, he accused Canada of imperialism, refused to attend a conference with Wisconsin, and said that “ [Canada]…are however, obviously insecure in their own nationhood. This is largely due to its status as a joke nation, a barely functional patchwork of disparate provinces."
The prime minister said told us that he didn’t understand Wisconsin’s concerns, saying that although their ties with DC were understandably taken issue with, their lake patrols have done nothing to “actively impede them or restrict their trade”.
The Way Forward
We asked both leaders how they would resolve the tensions.
The prime minister said that “should the door for cooperation be opened by Leader Phil we’d happily reopen trade and negotiate for friendly trade terms.”
While the president said, “If Canada is serious about peace as they claim, then they will accept our longstanding invitation to them to a conference in Madison between two sovereign nations.” Although he said that Canada has refused to consider them a sovereign and legitimate nation.
In 20 Years
We asked both leaders where they wished to see their respective groups in 20 years.
La Follette said that although Wisconsin is a People’s Democracy and, should the people desire to join the United States or any other group it would be done, there is “no desire amongst the people of Wisconsin at present to join any organization which might be a concession of our natural right of sovereignty.”
Damphousse simply answered, “United and prosperous”
Additional Canadian Thoughts on Cascadia
In a question unrelated to Wisconsin, our correspondent asked about Canadian negotiations with the Cascadians. The Prime Minister expressed that progress was slow and difficult because, “their government structure is simply not applicable to ours”.

2024.05.14 02:41 Caassaannoovvaa PASSPORT ADVICE

To preface, I know I was very dumb and am beating myself up already. I just need advice. I delivered a baby in December on Xmas morning. During my maternity leave I decided to do much needed paperwork / clean up. I decided to renew my husbands passport which was expiring June 2024 and change my last name on my passport to my married name. I submitted these docs in February - 02/05 I get a letter in the mail on 03/28 stating they need additional information (I knew I filled everything out so I truly believe it was an honest mistake and I might’ve filled out my application with navy blue ink instead of black because my favorite office pen is navy blue). I submit the docs immediately back. We decide to book a vacation impromptu as my husband and I haven’t traveled together ever due to his business. We book for 05/20 thinking it’ll be 2 Months and we’ll definitely receive our passports by then. WE HAVE NOT. I have done everything and called everyone. I got through to our state reps office and they were very helpful and were expediting it. Our childcare for the vacation fell through and I don’t feel comfortable leaving my baby with anyone else so now he needs to come with us. He’s 5 months old now so it’s fine. He does not have a passport. I have tried to make an urgent appt online and there are none available. My flight, car rental, hotel, parking etc nothing is refundable. I will lose a lot of money if I cannot get my baby a passport. I’ve emailed our state rep again to see if they could help. I call the customer service for the passport agency and they say to call within 72 hours. Has anyone been in this situation and been okay? Has anyone truly not been able to get a passport on time and forfeit their trip. I’m so upset with myself. I’m not sure why I didn’t think this through and get a passport for him just in case. I’m usually very plan A, B and C and I really just am so freaking upset. My husband is so looking forward to this trip as am I. Any advice?

2024.05.14 02:35 Fit_Foundation_6661 Recent Business Grad struggling to secure a job

Hey guys, I’m a recent business-finance graduate from the U of M & I’m having a very difficult time finding entry level finance/accounting positions to hire me. Many positions ask for not only a bachelors, but years of experience I don’t have yet. Despite that requirement, I’ve still applied to many of those positions, but I’ve either been rejected or ghosted. I feel as though I’ve put in an application to every company in Memphis at this point lol. I’ve reached out to hiring managers and recruiters & even include cover letters acknowledging my limited professional experience. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could secure a role? Or any companies who hire recent grads looking for entry level roles with decent pay ?

2024.05.14 02:30 Tiffanydolma I-130 and I-485 pending

Hello, I’m having a hard time waiting for the pending paperwork. I was on student visa when I came to USA on december 2019 due to Covid I was unable to fund my schooling so I didn’t go to the school. I moved with a friend in Portland OR and met my current husband through mutual friend. We got married on late 2020 and filed for I-130 in early 2021 and filed i-1485 in mid of 2021. I got my work permit on June 2022 and later had my interview around August 2022. Later they send a I-601 waiver for more proof of evidence for the marriage and we did send it on January 2023. Since then there is no new about the process. I filed for out of processing time for I-130 and they gave me 6 month wait and it had been more than 8 months I called them again and they issued a ) more month wait. It’s been more than 3 years for the I-130 approval. And my I-485 is also outside processing time and the 3 month wait for that will be over on may. I’m currently studying for nursing school I’m done with my pre requisite and I have offer letter from one of the best nursing school from the state but I’m afraid the opportunity might be missed since I’m not eligible for many scholarships. Is there anyone who can help me or guide through.
I filed for expedite as my case has been pending for so long with any answers.
Can anyone please leave a message or share their struggle. I don’t know why it is taking so long.
