This car has been in my family since it was purchased, but not necessarily treated perfectly. Here are the specs:

It was in possession of a friend for a few months because I got a motorcycle. They fixed a couple things I'm not too aware of. Before they got it, I recently changed the spark plugs, coils, battery, starter, and alternator. However, it stalls sometimes and had to be towed to my parents house after my friend gave up on it. Before I got it, my dad replaced the head gasket, got the head milled, and I think some other gaskets that the kit came with. However, he's not extremely confident in the job he did, and as there is still an oil leak, it probably wasn't perfect. Unfortunately, this oil leak is getting onto the alternator which has forced me to replace it twice before realizing it. My dad also mentioned that one of the many bolts that fasten the head to the block snapped while he tightened it, so I'm not sure if that is extremely important or not.
I know that there will be other things down the road that must be fixed because it's so old and high-mileage, but my question is this: is it worth it to redo the head gasket, timing gasket, valve cover gasket, etc. and replace the belt tensioner, OR is there something deeper that I don't know that could ruin the engine? I don't know what makes an engine a loss, so I'm just checking to see if it's worth it to keep working on this, or to just give up and sell it for parts.

Background information: I (gay) am seeing a guy who still contacts his ex often even if I am not comfortable with. I started to see this guy a few months ago and we had good communication and often hangout and things go well. However, things started to get weird. There was one time he invited friends including me to his house for crawfish boil and he told me his ex will also be there. They have broke up for 6 months and he told me he would never go back to date his ex. I was okay with going there even if his ex is there. However, he wouldn’t want to admit we are seeing other or knowing each other from a dating app, so when his friend asked us how we met. He wanted me to say we know each other through a mutual friend and to avoid awkwardness, I agreed with that. Plus we just started to see each other at that time, but there was always something in the back of my head that I don’t want to lie about it and I don’t feel comfortable that he doesn’t want introduce me as we seeing each other. After that party, we got much closer and had more conversation and went to my friend wedding together (at the wedding I wanted to say hi to my ex, but he said i don’t feel comfortable if you do that, so I cared about his feelings and didn’t say hi to my ex) and things were going well.
One day, I was hanging out at his house and his ex drove by and saw my car there and started to text him and blocked him because his ex still has feelings about him. He told me “you should’ve parked your car in my garage” and he became panic and nervous and didn’t know what to do and try to explain he is just hanging out with a friend. His ex threatened him to come over to his place and to check who is he hanging out with. That made me really uncomfortable so I just left because I don’t want any drama before we date and I also think he didn’t handle this situation with his ex well. at that day I also find out they hang out every Wednesday night at his place. They also had sex after they broke up. But anyways, he came over to my place that night we had a conversation and he talked to his ex the second day and the situation get better. He promised me this will never happen again.
Then there was one weekend where we were supposed to go carting with some friends and include his ex and me. He told me if I don’t feel comfortable about his ex coming he would tell his ex not coming. So I told him I don’t think that’s a good idea for us to co-exist together because I have to hide that we are just friends. He also never told his friends that we’re seeing each other. And we already lied about how we know each other at the crawfish boil party at the beginning, so that’s why I don’t want his ex to come. He said yes, but he called me two days later that his ex already paid the ticket and that his ex partially planned this event with him so I was OK for him to go even if I don’t feel comfortable with. Btw, I always introduce him to my friends that we are seeing each other.
Recently he has been very busy about his work so we didn’t hang out too much and he told me he couldn’t even call me because his busy schedule which I don’t feel comfortable but I also know that week he has been very busy about his work, but I was also thinking you can’t even call me for like five minutes to share your day with me which also made me uncomfortable and annoyed.
This week his work is not that busy, but he wants to invite his ex and other friends to get together again to another event next weekend. I was very annoyed by him inviting his ex this over and over again, even if I don’t feel comfortable to be with his ex at the same event, and I have communicate with him many times. Last time his ex went there because his ex already paid the ticket but this time I think he shouldn’t invite his ex. He told me that he just want everyone to be happy and not to be left out and he’s also figuring out our situationship. I understand his concern because he is out of country for 10 days and his ex will take care of his dogs so he scared if his ex was left out he might not want to take care of his dogs anymore, but I offered I can do that for him too.
Now I have some concerns that should I continue with this guy or he is not ready to date someone or start a new relationship? I honestly think I made some many compromises and being very understandable, but I feel like he might not be ready to move on which I am fine with just being friends with him cuz I know my worth.
Please give me your honest opinion and advice for me and him.

Not sure if anyone can help me. The software update for my Tesla started downloading and immediately got stuck at 10%. It’s in my driveway (not in the garage), and I think it’s having issues connecting to the wifi. I can’t drive it or do anything, and I tried doing a restart by holding the buttons for 20 seconds but nothing happened. Idk what to do. I tried calling but only got ahold of Roadside Assistance, and they basically said they can’t stop an update and can only tow it.
I just got this car today lol. Very frustrating. If anyone knows how to fix this or how to just cancel the update so I can use my car, please let me know.

I'm sorry for posting this but I haven't been able to talk about what's really happening the last 12 months because no one cares to listen to people like me. I just really need to write this down so it isn't just inside me forever, I'm not expecting any replies or help, I just want someone to know my story because i dont know when or how it will end. I am 14, turning 15 in a few months.
I have been dealing with severe depression(?) for around 4 years now, but the issues started way before that. there is something seriously wrong with me, and i am not blaming anyone but myself. I'm diagnosed with adhd, severe social & general anxiety disorder, autism, and ptsd. I have an abundance of issues cleaning and taking care of myself which i am extremely embarrassed about.
I attempted to truly end my life first when i was 10 via od on a prescription. the second time i was 11, i tied a ribbon very tightly around my neck, and fell asleep crying from both sadness and relief. i remember waking up, and it was like my body automatically started desperately searching for anything sharp to get it off my neck. i had a red spot on the side for a while after that, i covered it with a fake tattoo so my mom wouldn't have to worry about my older brother as well as me.
I resorted to online learning for middle school after bullying and sexual harassment, plus issues with the school that lead to cps being called. skip forward to now, my only friends are online, and they make fun of me for being autistic, and say they forget im a real person regularly. I understand, i dont expect them to care that much about someone theyve never spoken to in person before, i just wish i could be someones first choice.
december last year i started smoking weed, and that made me forget about how much i wanted to die. unfortunately, that got me addicted immediately. i couldn't bare being sober, if i wasnt high off my mind i was sobbing and shaking. eventually my mom found out, and I (mostly) stopped. unfortunately, the inevitable happened. i started stealing liquor, drank almost a whole bottle of tequila by myself within ~6 days. mom found out about that too, and stopped buying alcohol as well as starting to lock up the medication in the house. this was the beginning of the end. i hate myself for what i did. my mom did everything right, i, however, did everything wrong. i started abusing gabapentin, which quickly lost its magic. i told myself i was never going to touch stimulants or amphetamines, but of course i did. I was desperate to feel something that i started abusing my adhd meds. i hate them, i cant eat or sleep on them, but they make me focus on something that isnt my thoughts.
I've done everything i wanted to do before i go. today was my friends 16th birthday, yesterday was mothers day, and a few days before that was my one year on HRT. (not getting into that right now lol) i didnt think id make it to 13, I truly dont know why I'm still here. I can't remember a day i havent wanted to just leave and be free from emotion and people. I'll probably delete this when i see it in the morning, but i desperately needed to get this off my chest. I had potential, I was smart and kind and bright, and then the people around me grew up, while i was still waiting for my turn.
Maybe if I was born into a different family i could've been a psychologist like ive always wanted to. In another lifetime.

Hey guys. Mihile main on Hyperion here. Recently hit 8k legion and I'm in lib waiting room now. I'd like to make a second main in dreamer hyper burn. I lack hands (reason why I main Mihile) so I'm looking for a class that makes bosses up to ctene trivial but actually does damage solo, so no Paladin. I was thinking Drk, Bucc or BM. Did I miss any? I'll be getting this char to 260 with maxed nodes, full 17-21s and low hexa for reference, so level 1 origin and ~10 mastery.

I have recently moved in my city and have started bike commuting. The total distance is 20km on my hybrid bike, but it is old/rusted and is a frame small for me (had since I was a teen.) That being said my partner and I have been enjoying biking and want to start cycling everywhere and bikecamping/touring.
Larry vs harry Bullit bikes have caught my eye the most, as a two wheeled front loader with versatility is on the menu. However I am unsure if even buying one second-hand would be too ambitious. Should I wait? Or are there different models/bikes that could work?

The amount of people I, personally, see doing dumb things on road is astounding. Texting and driving, going 100mph, cutting across whole lanes of traffic, swerving back and forth between lanes, and of course you can’t forget the idiots that weave between dozens of cars in traffic on the highway and then end up barely any distance from where they started, only to shave 5 seconds off their commute. For example, there’s a was a person I saw doing that, they started a couple cars behind me and then went passed me and cut me off, only for them to literally be right in front of me in the end.
Whether the price is being arrested, having a wrecked car, being injured or even dying; they deserved it based off how reckless and dumb they were being. Sorry but being late for something or someone you care about is in the hospital, etc, aren’t reasons to put everyone else in danger.
I wouldn’t feel sad seeing someone that does that feel the repercussions.

I really wanna see others perspectives, a bit confused.
For context, I'm M20, bi, and I can't date irl due to personal situations. My dating pool is very limited because of gender identity.
I've been using dating apps for about two years now. When I text matches I feel absolutely nothing and I don't know why. I've never had "fun" texting anyone and sometimes it almost feels like a task I don't want to do. Even texting someone who responds quickly, I just feel like it's an empty and burdensome task to do. Doesn't matter how attractive the person is or how receptive they are, my brain is just thinking, "this conversation with this random stranger is going nowhere".
Out of all the people I've talked to, I've gone on a 3 dates with just a single person. This person was even my second kiss of all time and my first time holding hands and having an arm around me at a movie theater. I feel like all the feelings I felt were manufactured by the dates (nervousness, shyness), and not actual "real" feelings like butterflies or infatuation for the person themselves, and they just weren't right for me. Eventually we just stopped texting.
But in "organic" situations elsewhere online, I feel different. I have an online BFF that I met on a game that I developed a crush on. Told them and was "rejected", but we became better friends after that, now we're very close platonic friends and I consider them my closest friend. I never became their friend with the intention to date, the crush was unprecedented and unwanted for me.
I had a short long distance relationship with a person that I had to end due to their behavior, but it was a real breakup 100% that effected me and I felt deeply for them. I recently was befriended by a new online person and now I have another crush on them (we are currently talking, we find each other attractive, etc).
So I keep feeling real butterflies and real connections for people I meet randomly online without the intention to date them, just by texting them as normal. But when I use apps specifically for dating, I feel tired and drained.
Do any of you have a similar experience? Do you believe my introvert personality has anything to do with this?
Can I change this somehow? I keep meeting good people in all the wrong places who live too far away. I just wanna feel the same way for someone on these apps that I do for randoms online.

I am on week two, took my second shot 4 days ago. Today my palms are very red and my hands are itchy. I havent been outside because I was fighting nausea in bed all weekend, so I know I didnt touch anything in the yard. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

So I had a second consultation today and decided to sign with them. I paid $500 down for my retainer. I thought they were answering my questions clearly and giving me good advice, I realized after I left they were just paralegals. It gives me uneasy vibes because I think the last consultation I had was with the attorney and she seemed to ask much more specific and pointed questions, so I stupidly assumed the next consultation I had would be with an attorney as well and didn’t ask anything until after i paid and read their titles on the cards they handed me on the way out.
To be clear one of their cards says paralegal and the other says director of operations. Neither says attorney; like the other cards in the lobby.
Is this normal for the paralegal to be doing the intake? Can they say if I qualify? Because I asked them a bunch of questions that seemed pretty specific and the answers they gave me led me to believe they knew what they were talking about but I’m worried I just wasted money I don’t have to waste.

I’m F18 and currently stuck in a very difficult relationship with my parents. The problem is mostly my mother, who tries to control everything I do. Some people I’ve talked to about this situation have said she’s a narcissist. My mother has never been physically abusive but regularly verbally abuses me (since I was 11) and my father. Once I started getting into my teenage years and becoming my own person, things got worse with me in my mom as she slowly lost more and more control over me.
The types of things she’s done to me include isolating me from all of my friends by taking my phone and I wasn’t even allowed to go to sleepovers, parties, or any of my friends homes. This has led me to develop problems with substance abuse and self harming as well as other mental health problems.
When I turned 18, I started to say no to her more and pushed for more freedom which let me have my phone in my room because I was not even allowed access to my phone on school days until this March.
But it’s not getting any better. I’m still constantly cursed out and verbally berated for literally no reason. My mother has tried opening credit card accounts in my name for her use only to “build my credit” only to call me a bitch when I told her to stop. She still has the password for my bank account which she took over $600 from for repairs on my car which my father had already paid for. She constantly violates my boundaries, using the ‘my house my rules’ logic even though she’s been unemployed since I was 10. I get yelled at whenever I buy something for myself with the money that I worked for. Not like crazy expensive things, I’m talking $40 on two Tshirts and toiletries from target (shampoo, acne care, deodorant)
I have had a stable job since I was 16 and have picked up a second job for the summer. I have never been in any major trouble at school or with the law. But there’s something so wrong about me that all my mother does when she sees me is yell.
My dad gets the same treatment too. As long as I can remember. He will not divorce her for religious reasons. I really liked my old job at a car plant. It was a part-time, I was studying, and still a dumb ignorant innocent kid. I was 21 when I started. Growing up is hell. Venezuela 🇻🇪 Anyways after the Mexico era I went on a family trip to Venezuela which I basically haven’t been there since my balls dropped. Wow. The natural beauty of Venezuelans is striking. Beautiful girls everywhere. The country itself is a mess. Everything is slow, expensive, and inconvenient. Had some fun there with a local girl but was not able to enjoy as much as I wanted to as I was with family the entire time. I don’t use tinder- all IRL into instagram as a funnel. Maybe I’ll explore more with dating apps as I get many matches especially overseas but the quality seems shitty and it can be a waste of time also a lame way to meet people. Never got to go out or party solo-dolo so that was a bummer. Will be back soon enough though so I’ll update you guys on Venezuela Nightlife experience. All I can say is it’s the second most beautiful place when it comes women I’ve been to. The country itself is by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Europe 🇪🇺 Ok here’s were it gets weird haha. So Europe is definitely a place with more nuance. With that said I went to both western and eastern locations. It’s much easier to have casual sex in Western Europe due to the culture. Many American and European solo traveling girls as well… they are rather promiscuous. Eastern Europe was by far a beauty haven. From Romania to Russia you will find some of the most beautiful women on earth just walking on the street. The culture shock is large though and dating becomes a bit more “serious” which for me doesn’t work. I would recommend Europe as a traveling destination if you think you’re up for it. I did well and met, partied with, and traveled with girls but I felt like it the more east I went it just wasn’t the right vibe for that. So when it comes to Europe results may vary on many things. Your relative attractiveness, your ability to adapt and be outgoing even in “colder” nations, and how you carry yourself + where you stay. Staying in good locations is key. As an American you either get a buff or a de-buff and “wealth” is the main factor. European girls are very direct. Which I found off putting. Latin culture can be hyper sexual but I find it more classy.

Everyone is there for a reason. Just don’t do it if the ratio is completely busted as it’s not good for meeting local girls and stay away from the girl guides- trust.

So today I wanted to move the Firebird into the driveway to start work on it. The guttedriveway has a deep slope, so there’s no way I pushing it in neutral. Due to work, life and weather, I wasn’t able to drive it for 3 weeks. I am the Nth owner and the previous owner got it running - it still needs a lot of work. I’ve made other posts in this forum and the transam before.
For the first time, today, again - after weeks of sitting - it wouldn’t start. I released the distributor cap and cleaned it, I put gas in the tank (5 gallons, and it was full after), I checked the fluids, and I used some starter spray. I also bought a Viking battery charger. The charger read 60% when charging, and didn’t change, but when I checked it later it read 90% (I had to first turn it off and turn it on again).
As shown in the video, after charging a bit and using the spray; no problem. I ran it for a couple minutes, but think I should have ran it longer. However, I had to close the hood and it stalled out (this has been a problem since before I bought it.) when I tried to start it a second time, the clicking sound occurred as shown in the second video.
With my Novice car experience, my guess is a bad battery. However, always ask for outside opinions. Any of you folks have some suggestions? I know it’s not much to see what I’ve written when it’s better to see in person. Thanks.

My husband and I got into a fight. I hit him once to get him to give me my phone back. Earlier in the day we were going to get our haircut and he started an argument. I was upset and needed a minute before I got out of the car. Im currently tending to a back injury. He started yelling at me to get out of the car, when I wouldnt he proceded to try to pull me out of the car. I ended up hitting my head and my face he yanked me so hard . I was bruises all up and down my arms and legs. He tried pushing my legs down really hard. I bit his arm to try to get him to let go cause he was pulling my arms I thought he would pull my shoulders out of my sockets. He finally stopped cause i screamed for help.
Later on that night we fought again. He ended up hitting me with his hand on the back of my head. He hit me so hard I got knocked out. I ended up falling and hitting the foot board on my side, then hitting my head on the ground. I have multiple bumps on my head. Since then I get super dizzy, I can't hardly walk straight. My head is killing me. I believe I have a concussion. He says I don't and to quit being a baby. He says I started it and acts insane. Screaming in my face. Says he's sorry and wants me to be ok with him. I'm scared about my head. I take blood thinners too. I told him I wanted to leave but anytime I try to call for help he takes my phone. I don't know what to do. I'm scared noone will believe me. Everyone loves him he's very charming. My family would think I'm more capable of beating him than he beating me. I'm getting to the point that I don't care what he does. I can't hardly walk cause of my back injury and he takes full advantage. He's a maniac when he gets mad. He says that I'm just as much at fault.

I’m going to try to keep this short, but basically a couple weeks ago I (25m) got into a very minor car accident in my company’s work vehicle on the way back to our warehouse. It’s a small, family owned business (I’m one of maybe 5 people who work regularly. Also I am not part of their family) although considering previous conversations with my boss (63m), I know he is not hurting for money and this year has been a wild success for him thus far.
Our work vehicle is insured, but my boss didn’t want to tell his insurance about the accident because he just recently changed policies on our work vehicles and was dodging messages from me when the other guy was harassing me over the accident & boss still wouldn’t give anyone his insurance info.
A few days ago I got a message from him saying the other guys’ repair was going to be $1700, which I’m still not sure is accurate considering the damage was only on the other guy’s blind spot mirror, and my boss expected me to pay him that amount out of my own pocket to give to the other guy.
I told him no, he needs to go through his insurance because that is what it’s there for and I don’t have $1700 to give away right now. I have also been making arrangements to move cross country for the past 6 or so months and everyone knows I’m leaving on June 1st. My own car died and I had to spend a lot more than I would have liked to to fix that as well recently. He told me not to worry about it anymore. I asked if that day would be the end of our professional relationship and he responded, “I hope not. You’re scheduled this Thursday.”
The real trouble I’m facing is that my boss has a history of gossiping, specifically, to his son (20m) that also works with us. I just got a text a few minutes ago from one of my other coworkers saying that our Boss’ son explained to him today that I’m a bad person for not giving my boss the money because the whole point of him expecting money from me is so he can save money on his company insurance policy instead of filing a claim and a few people I work with, including that guy who texted me, agree with that sentiment and are disappointed in me over it.
Which brings us to the question: Knowing my coworkers are kinda villainizing me for this, Would I be wrong if I told my boss I will not be showing up for my final 2 shifts? The years I’ve worked for this job, it just feels like I’ve had my time and hard work taken advantage of and right now, the gossiping about me might be the final straw, but on the other hand the extra money would be helpful and awkwardness being around these people is very temporary. Those final two work days will probably be over 12 hours a piece because it’s the nature of our industry. Is it worth it to even spend another minute with people who are talking shit about me over this?

I think I figured out how to do self-attention in NlogN computation steps rather than N^2, with a caveat. I'm not trying to be an academic, so I don't care to publish this formally, but I thought that some people might be interested. My construction is not efficient or practical, but the fact that it can be done at all might motivate further work to find efficient alternatives.
tl;dr Use the parallel scan technique to compute taylor series basis functions needed to compute the causal self-attention layer and sum these together weighted by the values vector and 1 to get the numerator and denominator of the softmax activation of the full causal self-attention layer. The basis functions that you have to compute are both the basis functions for the numerator of the self-attention layer, $\sum_{i=0}^{j-1} k(i)_a^n q(j)_b^m v(i)$ and the normalization $\sum_{i=0}^{j-1} k(i)_a^n q(j)_b^m$. k(i)_a^n is component-a of the ith key vector raised to the power of n multiplied by q(j)_b^m which is component-b of the jth query vector raised to the power of m, which is multiplied by the value vector at position i in the first equation and by 1 in the second, and all summed together. Once you can do this, you've computed a basis function for a Taylor series. Multiply each basis function by a coefficient and sum them together to create an arbitrary function of k(i) and q(j). Using this technique, we can compute the Taylor series approximation for the numerator and the denominator of the softmax activation each taking logN * {number of coefficients} parallel steps, or O(N) sequential steps by treating the accumulation as a type of RNN.

Background

I was inspired to think about this because I was implementing MAMBA and trying to understand what kind of non-linearities can be created using the parallel scan technique. If you don't know what parallel scan is, let me demonstrate with an example. The simplest example of the parallel scan technique is computing all partial sums of a sequence of numbers in log(N) time. Imagine you have a sequence [a_1, a_2, a_3, a_4, ...]. You can compute all partial sums by first adding a_i to a_{i -1}, where a_{-1} is zero, and generally a_{-n} is defined to be zero. Then take the result, call it r = [a_1, a_1+a_2, a_2 + a_3, ...], and compute r_i + r_{i-2}, which gives [a_1, a_1+a_2, a_1+a_2+a_3, ...]. The first 4 partial sums are already complete. The next step would be r_i + r_{i-2**2}, and the next step, just increase the power of 2 until i-2**power is negative for every i in the sequence. It basically sums groups, and then sums those groups together, and so on and so forth until the partial sum at each position is calculated. The scan technique is a way to parallelize an RNN. Essentially, you remove some nonlinearities in the RNN so that recurrence equation becomes associative. Once it is associative, you can compute the hidden state at each position of the sequence in log N parallel steps, where each parallel step has O(N) computations.

The Meat of It

In the background section, I explained how to compute a partial sum in O(log(N)) time and O(NlogN) computation steps (or O(N) time and O(N) computation steps by using RNNs) using the parallel scan technique. I'll use this now to construct the Taylor series for causal self-attention layer.
Let's assume we have a tensor x of shape (sequence_length, embedding_dim), and we can compute the query, key and value tensors from x using q=Qx, k=Kx and v=Vx, where Q, K and V are matrices. Compute y = (k[:,i]**n)*v. Now use the parallel scan technique to accumulate the partial sums of every vector in y, which will give ParallelPartialSum(y)=[y[0,:], y[0,:]+y[1,:], ...]. Now multiply the result by q[:,j]**m, and now we have a basis function for a Taylor series expansion. The full formula is q[:,j]**m * ParallelPartialSum((k[:,i]**n)*v). Next, we can add up these functions for different powers of n and m using coefficients to approximate any function. The final equation is \sum_{n, m} A_{n, m} q[:,j]**m * ParallelPartialSum((k[:,i]**n)*v).
What is left is to find the Taylor series coefficients A_{n, m} and to calculate the normalization for the softmax. I'm not actually going to give an equation for A_{n, m}, but I will show that it can be done. First, I'm just going to write $q \cdot k$ in place of $q[:,j,:] \cdot k[:,i,:]$ to make it easier to write and read. We want the Taylor series of $exp(q \cdot k) = 1 + (q \cdot k) + (q \cdot k)**2 / 2! + ... + (q \cdot k)**n / n! + ...$. To find the Taylor series coefficient for every component of q and component of k and every power of each, you'd have to expand out (q \cdot k)**n /n! for every n. It can be done but I'm not going to do it. Just assume that A_{n, m} is equal to these coefficients, and voila, we have the numerator of the softmax equation for self-attention. We still need the denominator. To compute the denominator of the softmax over attention scores, you compute the same sum replacing the value tensor with the number 1. $\sum_{n, m} A_{n, m} x[:,j]**m * ParallelPartialSum((x[:,i]**n))$, where again the value vector at the end of the equation is removed. The final equation for the causal self-attention layer is:

Where again, A_{n, m} are the Taylor series coefficients for exp( q \cdot k).

Take-Aways

One big take away from this work, is that since causal self-attention can be calculated using the parallel scan technique, and since a parallel scan can be computed with an RNN, it follows that full causal self-attention can be computed with RNNs. The caveat is that you need many RNNs, one for each Taylor series basis function, so to get a good enough approximation of the softmax activation, you'd probably need a lot of coefficients, more than would be practical. On the other hand, what if there is a related activation that does the job of the softmax, but can be constructed with far fewer parallel scans? Then full causal self-attention could be done using only a few RNNs. Also, there are other basis functions that can be computed with one parallel scan, for instance, basis functions for a Fourier series can be computed with one parallel scan.

Went on a quick shopping trip to pick up items for dinner. On the way home with a full backpack and holding another bag of items I came across a bad situation that I thought that I could assist with. Long story short, there was big traffic jam caused by a stray dog walking down the middle of one of lanes. There was a guy trying to chase it down in a truck, but this guy was clearly going to cause an accident so I took over the chase to try and guide the dog off of the road. I was able to get the dog into the parking lot of a hardware store. Once again, the guy came roaring in his truck and spooked the dog who headed back towards the busy street. I was able to intervene again and got the dog heading away from the busy road. The dog got a good jump on me and was about 50 yards ahead of me heading towards cars again. I mashed it and was going around 30-35 when I caught up with it. There was a inlet/court just ahead of where we were so i got in front of the dog and did a hard stop turning to the left to get the dog to head down the court. I was able to get the dog re-routed, but as I made the turn while braking my pedals dipped and the wheel over-leaned and dumped me off of the front of the wheel. I was able to run it out for a little bit, but with a full backpack and another bag of crap in hand I decided to take the fall before I hyperextended a knee/hip or twisted an ankle. Fortunately I fell in loose tanbark so no abrasions or major injuries to myself or the wheel.
I was riding a Begode EXn high speed. I think that I am going to buy the high torque frame from AR and go that route as I am no longer a fan of the high speed configuration. It was a eye opener having the wheel cut during evasive actions.
And of course, no thanks or recognition from the dog owner who was able to finally wrangle the dog after I got him routed to the court.
