2024.05.13 21:08 Dear-Ad-8289 What is Echinacea?

In the realm of natural remedies, few herbs stand out quite like echinacea. With a rich history dating back centuries, echinacea has earned a reputation as a powerful immune booster and wellness ally. Let's delve into the world of echinacea, exploring its origins, benefits, and how it can support your overall health and well-being.

Unveiling Echinacea: Nature's Defender

Echinacea, also known as the purple coneflower, is a flowering plant native to North America. Historically, indigenous peoples, including the Plains Indians, used echinacea for various medicinal purposes, ranging from treating infections to relieving pain. Today, echinacea is widely recognized for its immune-stimulating properties and is commonly used to prevent and shorten the duration of the common cold and other respiratory infections.

The Immune-Boosting Benefits of Echinacea

At the heart of echinacea's popularity lies its ability to strengthen the body's natural defenses. Echinacea contains a diverse array of active compounds, including flavonoids, polysaccharides, and alkamides, which work together to modulate the immune system and enhance its ability to combat pathogens. By stimulating the production of white blood cells and increasing the activity of immune cells like macrophages and T-cells, echinacea helps fortify the body's defenses against infections.

Supporting Overall Wellness

Beyond its immune-boosting properties, echinacea offers a range of additional health benefits. Studies have suggested that echinacea may possess anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and analgesic properties, making it a versatile herb for promoting overall health and well-being. From relieving symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections to supporting wound healing and reducing inflammation, echinacea is a valuable ally in maintaining optimal health.

Choosing the Right Form of Echinacea

Echinacea is available in various forms, including capsules, tinctures, teas, and topical creams. Each form offers unique advantages, allowing individuals to choose the option that best suits their preferences and needs. For those seeking convenient immune support, echinacea capsules or tinctures may be the preferred choice, while echinacea tea provides a soothing and aromatic way to enjoy its benefits.

Incorporating Echinacea into Your Wellness Routine

Whether you're looking to bolster your immune system, alleviate symptoms of cold and flu, or simply promote overall wellness, incorporating echinacea into your daily routine is a simple and effective strategy. By choosing high-quality echinacea supplements or herbal preparations from reputable sources, you can harness the power of this remarkable herb to support your health goals.

Final Thoughts: Embracing the Healing Power of Echinacea

As nature's immune booster, echinacea offers a natural and effective way to enhance your body's defenses and promote overall well-being. With its rich history, diverse benefits, and wide availability, echinacea remains a staple in the world of herbal medicine, providing a beacon of hope and healing for generations to come. Embrace the power of echinacea and embark on a journey towards vibrant health and vitality.
In conclusion, echinacea stands as a testament to the remarkable healing potential of nature, offering a beacon of hope and wellness in an increasingly complex world. By incorporating echinacea into your daily routine, you can harness the power of this extraordinary herb to support your immune system, promote overall health, and embrace a life of vitality and well-being.

2024.05.08 16:38 gossamersilk Echinacea

Any recommendations for good brands for Echinacea? I don't have access to ConsumerLabs...
Also, how much should I actually be taking? According to the MSKCC database (https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/integrative-medicine/herbs/echinacea), it sounds like it might only be beneficial at very high doses. They reference this paper: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37138742/
I've been using Nature's Bounty which suggests taking 7 pills a day. Any thoughts on the brand and dosing?

2024.05.07 05:45 Skulgafoss Native Flowers: Proper Mixes for Seed Starting and Potting Up

I'm starting native wildflowers (Midwest genotypes) indoors from seed. I need advice regarding 1) how to create seed starting mix and 2) how to create a good "growing" mix for potting up the plants into 4' or 5' pots for continued growth before planting in the ground. I want to make the mix myself because I intend to start doing this at scale and am not going to pay $20 or $30 per bag for mixes that have unnecessary ingredients and in some cases are not proper for their advertised use. For the purposes of this discussion, these are species that prefer full sun and tolerate dry soils well.
Some example species:
Asclepias syriaca (Common Milkweed)
Echinacea purpurea (Purple Coneflower)
Coreopsis lanceolata (Lanceleaf Coreopsis)
Liatris pycnostachya (Prairie Blazing Star)
I've looked through the subreddit, done a lot of reading, and watched videos all over the web regarding how to mix your own seed starter medium; I realize there are lots of variations that will work. There seems to be consensus for my use case that you want a soil-less, sterile medium that drains well. Young seedlings don't really need nutrients/organic matter, so go with something like this:
70% coco coir / 15% vermiculite / 15% perlite
Some people say throw in some worm castings, some mix the above with sifted potting soil, etc. I don't understand why that is necessary for seed starting mix. (Just FYI, I plan to use coco coir instead of peat, and I realize a lot of people use sand instead of perlite and/or vermiculite for drainage and to save money I assume.)
My planning factor is that seedlings will spend approx. 4 weeks in the seed starter mix (where they germinated), then be potted up and spend approx. 4 more weeks growing in my "growing" mix before transplanting into "the wild."
Questions:
  1. Approximately how long will the seedlings do OK growing in this starter mix without nutrients? For example, I have common milkweed seedlings that germinated 3-4 weeks ago and are just now developing their second set of true leaves. I want to wait until that second set of true leaves are out before potting up, but don't know if they'll make it without some nutrients being added.
  2. Assuming these seedlings are potted up into individual 4" or 5" pots to grow another 4 weeks or so before being put in the ground, what would you use as a mix in these larger pots? (I'm basically wondering what nurseries use in the pots that your small wildflowers are usually in when you buy first year plants, typically some kind of 4" or 5" pots.) I've seen recommendations like this: 4 parts coco coir / 2 parts organic compost / 1 part vermiculite / 1 part perlite / handful of worm castings.

2024.04.27 14:16 Herbal_Mind Enhancing Chemokine Signaling and Natural Killer Cell Coordination Through Advanced Herbal Strategies

In the vast and intricately connected world of our immune system, the discovery and understanding of how immune cells communicate to combat viral threats stand as a testament to the marvels of biological research. Recent advancements have shed light on the complex choreography of immune cell interactions, particularly highlighting the role of chemokines and natural killer (NK) cells in orchestrating the body's defense against viruses. This exploration into the immune system's communication mechanisms not only enhances our comprehension of immunology but also paves the way for novel therapeutic strategies.
The Critical Role of Chemokines
Chemokines, a family of signaling proteins, are at the heart of immune cell communication. They are the conductors of the immune response, guiding the movement and interaction of immune cells towards the sites of infection or tumor growth. The precise coordination of immune cells, facilitated by chemokines, is crucial for the effective clearance of pathogens and tumorous cells from the body. This complex network of signals ensures that the immune system can mount a rapid and targeted response to threats, minimizing damage to healthy tissues.
Unveiling the Significance of NK Cells
Among the various players in the immune system, NK cells have emerged as pivotal figures in the fight against viral infections. Traditionally, certain macrophages were believed to be the primary producers of the chemokine Ccl3, which plays a significant role in attracting antiviral immune cells. However, groundbreaking research has revealed that NK cells are, in fact, the most crucial Ccl3 producers during cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. This finding underscores the versatility and importance of NK cells in immune defense mechanisms.
NK cells possess the unique ability to directly destroy virus-infected cells, acting as both the producers and sensors of Ccl3. This dual role enables NK cells to rapidly respond to viral infections by producing Ccl3 in response to type I interferon signals, which act as an alarm to the immune system. Furthermore, Ccl3 serves as an auto/paracrine signal, allowing NK cells to communicate directly with each other and coordinate their antiviral responses efficiently. This level of intercellular coordination is vital for the effective elimination of viral pathogens and underscores the adaptive capabilities of the immune system.
Beyond Ccl3: A New Frontier in Immunology
The innovative experimental strategies employed in recent research, particularly the development of genetically modified mice models, have opened new avenues for exploring the communication between immune cells. This methodology can be extended to study other messenger substances beyond Ccl3, which are released during various infections, inflammations, or even in cancer. Such research is essential for deciphering the complex interactions within the immune system and could lead to the development of targeted therapies for a wide range of diseases.
Implications for Future Therapeutics
Understanding the intricate communication networks of immune cells, especially the role of chemokines and NK cells, has profound implications for the development of new therapeutic approaches. By manipulating these signaling pathways, it may be possible to enhance the immune system's ability to fight infections, reduce inflammation, and even prevent tumor growth. This knowledge also holds promise for improving cancer diagnosis and therapy, particularly through the modulation of the tumor microenvironment by extracellular vesicles.
Herbal Formula
Given the pivotal role of chemokines and natural killer (NK) cells in the immune system's defense against viruses, as well as the importance of maintaining a balanced and responsive immune environment, a herbal formula aimed at supporting these immune functions should focus on herbs known for their antiviral properties, immune modulation capacity, and ability to support healthy inflammation responses. Based on my understanding of phytochemistry and the specific requirements outlined by the latest research findings, I recommend a carefully crafted herbal formula that includes the following components:
  1. **Echinacea spp.** (Echinacea): Echinacea is widely recognized for its immune-enhancing properties, particularly its ability to support NK cell activity and promote a healthy immune response. Phytochemicals in Echinacea, such as alkamides, have been shown to modulate immune system activity and may enhance the body's ability to respond to viral infections.
  2. **Astragalus membranaceus** (Astragalus): Astragalus is a cornerstone herb in traditional Chinese medicine for its immune-boosting and antiviral effects. It contains compounds like polysaccharides and saponins that have been demonstrated to enhance the body's production of interferon, a key signaling protein in the immune response to viruses, and to improve the activity of NK cells.
  3. **Sambucus nigra** (Elderberry): Elderberry is well-regarded for its antiviral properties, especially against respiratory viruses. Its bioactive components, including flavonoids and anthocyanins, can help inhibit viral replication and improve immune response. Elderberry has been observed to facilitate the production of cytokines, including chemokines, which are critical for the communication between immune cells.
  4. **Andrographis paniculata** (Andrographis): Known as the "King of Bitters," Andrographis has potent antiviral and immune-stimulating properties. The active constituent andrographolide has been shown to modulate immune function, potentially enhancing the efficacy of NK cells and supporting the overall immune response to viral infections.
  5. **Glycyrrhiza glabra** (Licorice root): Licorice root has a long history of use in both Western and Eastern traditions for its antiviral and immunomodulatory effects. Glycyrrhizin, a key compound in licorice, has been found to inhibit viral replication and support the immune system's antiviral activities. It's important to use licorice judiciously, especially in individuals with hypertension.
  6. **Camellia sinensis** (Green Tea): Rich in catechins, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), green tea is renowned for its antioxidant and immune-supportive properties. EGCG has been shown to enhance NK cell activity and offers broad-spectrum antiviral effects against various viruses.
In conclusion, the study of immune cell communication, particularly the roles of chemokines and NK cells, represents a fascinating frontier in immunology. These discoveries not only deepen our understanding of the immune system's complexity but also offer hopeful prospects for innovative treatments. As we continue to unravel the mysteries of immune cell interactions, we move closer to harnessing the full potential of our body's defense mechanisms against an array of diseases.

2024.04.16 19:50 mercynova13 Can someone explain COVID spike proteins to me, and what NAC does and how it helps with immunity?

I guess I am hoping for someone to explain like I'm five haha. I had COVID (was really sick and miserable) in January 2024. It was my third time having covid (once in Dec 2021, once in May 2023 and then January 2024). Since I had it in January I have had two colds, one in feb and one in april. Last year I didn't get sick at all other than when I had Covid in may so this is definitely a change. I didn't test for covid during those colds because I felt very different than I did the three times I had covid and tested positive and also because my pharmacist told me that I wouldnt get covid for 3-4 months after having it in january. I'm concerned that having covid in january may have weakened my immune system. I see people talk about NAC for immunity, and I have seen posts talking about covid spike proteins and how some things that are supposed to be good for inflammation and the immune system (like tumeric/curcumin) are bad for covid spike proteins. Can someone please break down to me what that means or why? I usually take curcumin when I am feeling under the weather or am about to get sick, but now I'm worried that after having covid it could be making things worse. Are there other things I should be doing to protect my body and immune system after having covid? Because of my elevated thyroid antibodies I use caution with immune boosters and don't consume them too regularly so I will take chaga, echinacea, astralagus, curcumin with black pepper only when I feel like I am getting sick but not regularly.
Other info if it is relevent:

2024.03.31 08:51 IntelligentIce43 Here's what I have learnt so far

1.1 Fungal physiology: Candida is an opportunistic pathogen. It resides as a commensal in the host oral cavity, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, skin, and/or vagina. Immunocompromised health conditions, prolonged usage of antibiotics, dysbiosis of the microbiota, and/or environmental changes can lead to C. albicans overgrowth. Many fungal species possess the ability to change their physical shape. Fungi can undergo three types of morphological changes:
· round, budding yeast-form cells
· oval pseudohyphal cells
· elongated, cylindrical hyphal cells
In C. albicans the hyphal form is the virulent form because the hyphae can penetrate host tissues by damaging epithelial cells. Among Candida spp., only three species can form hyphae*: C. tropicalis, C. dubliniensis*, and C. albicans. [1] Cell-to-cell signalling or communication is done by Quorum Sensing (QS). C. albicans releases two quorum sensing molecules, farnesol and tyrosol. [2] Biofilm formation is divided into three stages: adhesion (to a living or non-living surface), cell proliferation and maturation.[3] The pathogenic strains are Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, Candida parapsilosis, and Candida krusei. About 90% of infections are caused by these five species.[4] Among these, C. albicans produces the most robust biofilms. What are Candida biofilms made of? C. albicans biofilms contain yeast, hyphae, and a complex extracellular matrix (ECM).[5] Candida biofilm matrix (a.k.a ECM) is composed of 25 % carbohydrate, 55 % protein, 15 % lipid, and 5 % nucleic acid. The carbohydrate component consists of two major polysaccharides: mannans and β-glucan. [6] Biofilms provide physical protection from antifungal drugs (e.g. via the production of the extracellular matrix). [7]
1.2 Testing for Invasive Candidiasis: D-arabinitol, a sugar alcohol, is produced by C. albicans, C. parapsilosis, and C. tropicalis but not by C. glabrata and C. krusei. D- and l-arabinitol are present in normal human urine and serum, but if DA/LA ratio in urine is elevated then it is a sign of invasive candidiasis. [8][9]. Most Organic Acid Tests (OATs) have a d-arabinitol component. This test requires a urine sample. Comprehensive Stool Testing/Gut Microbiome Test can also be done to detect Candida in GI tract. An antibody test (IgG) test can be used to detect past or ongoing infections. [10]
1.3 Symptoms: Oral thrush, tinnitus, insomnia, halitosis, joint pain, sinusitis, headache, indigestion, constipation, skin rash, toenail fungus, vaginal discharge, brain fog, fatigue.
1.4 Treatment: To treat Candidiasis, one must take both Biofilm Busters AND Antifungals.
1.4.1 Biofilm Busters**:** Enzymatic Breakdown Complex (Hemicellulase & Cellullase break down beta glucans in biofilms, Proteases break down proteins), N-acetyl Cysteine (NAC), Lactoferrin.
1.4.2 Herbal Antifungals: Oregano Oil, Garlic (Allicin), Ginger, Olive Leaf Extract (OLE), Caprylic Acid, Neem Leef Extract, Pau d’Arco, Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), Black seed oil, Grapeseed Extract (GSE), Turmeric (Curcumin), Cinnamon, Green tea, Pomegranate (bark and peel extracts), Basil, Coriander, HorseTail, Echinacea. [16]
1.4.3 Prescription Antifungals: Triazoles (Itraconazole, Fluconazole, Isavuconazole, Voriconazole and Posaconazole), Polyenes (Amphotericin B, Natamycin, and Nystatin), Echinocandins (Caspofungin, Micafungin, and Anidulafungin) and Pyrimidine analogues (5-Fluorocytosine and 5-Fluorouracil). [17]
1.4.3.1 Side Effects of Prescription Antifungals: The use of prescription antifungals is not recommended because of two reasons.
· Toxicity: AmpB is toxic to fungal cells because of its affinity to bind with ergosterol present in fungal cell membranes. AmpB is toxic to human cells because of its ability to bind loosely with cholesterol (the human counterpart of ergosterol) present in cells. Renal toxicity in the case of Amphotericin B is dose- dependent and cumulative. It is more likely when cumulative doses equal to or more than 6 mg/kg. [11]
· Antifungal resistance: Resistance can be intrinsic or acquired. Some species have intrinsic resistance to certain antifungals. For example, all Aspergillus spp., Candida krusei and most Candida auris isolates are intrinsically resistant to fluconazole, and many environmental moulds (for example, Mucoromycota, Lomentospora spp. and Fusarium spp.) are resistant to azoles. [23]
· Fungal Dysbiosis: Studies done in mice showed that a 3-week Fluconazole treatment decreased the population of some pathogenic fungi such as Penicillium brevicompactum and Candida tropicalis, but increased the population of other pathogenic fungi such as Aspergillus amstelodami, Epicoccum nigrum, and Wallemia sebi. Furthermore, fungal dybiosis caused increased inflammation in colitis-induced mice. [18]
1.4.4 Probiotics: Probiotic yeasts secrete certain metabolites which inhibit the adhesion and morphological transition of Candida species. S. bourlardii, for instance, secretes caproic acid, caprylic acid and capric acid. Out of these, capric acid is most toxic to C. albicans. It causes the cytoplasm of C. albicans to shrink and reduces its virulence. [13] Certain Bifidobacterium species, particularly B. adolescentis, inhibited C. albicans in vitro. [14] Four species of probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus reuteri, Lactobacillus casei GG, and Bifidobacterium animalis) reduced the severity of (but did not eradicate) systemic candidiasis in mice. [15]
1.5 Herx Reaction: Jarisch Herxheimer Reaction (JHR) is a transient clinical phenomenon that occurs when large amounts of pathogenic cells die releasing endotoxins. This flood of endotoxins can cause the kidneys and the liver to work overtime to remove them. It may lead to worsening of symptoms. [12] Inorganic toxin binders such as clays (Bentonite) and activated carbon/charcoal can be used to alleviate symptoms. Healing intestinal permeability (leaky gut) can prevent fungal metabolites from entering the bloodstream. Adding anti-inflammatory compounds such as turmeric (with black pepper) & Omega-3 to the diet can reduce the inflammation that is caused when the fungal metabolites enter the bloodstream.
1.6 Fungal Infection and Autoimmune Diseases
The first step in fungal pathogenesis is the adhesion of fungus. C. albicans Hyphal Wall Protein 1 (Hwp1p) is a key protein (adhesin) that facilitates the attachment of C. albicans to epithelial cells. The next step is invasion of host cells. Invasion can occur through two mechanisms: induced endocytosis and active penetration. Endocytosis is process by which a cell internalizes extracellular substances or materials on the cell membrane by engulfing them. For instance, C. parapsilosis induces endocytosis in host endothelial cells. Once it has been endocytosed, patrolling neutrophils can no longer detect them. The active penetration mechanism does not rely on the host's cellular machinery, but possibly on physical pressure applied by the advancing hyphal tip and the secretion of extracellular hydrolases. [19][20] I think that host cell penetration caused by hyphal tip expansion causes intestinal permeability. As pathogenic fungal and/or bacterial metabolites (especially those that mimic human proteins, a.k.a. molecular mimicry) enter bloodstream through these leaks, the immune system gets triggered, which may lead to autoimmune diseases.
Rheumatoid arthritis: Autoimmune diseases can be triggered by the molecular mimicry of bacterial and viral antigens. However, not much is known about fungal molecular mimicry. One study found that the molecular mimicry of human peptides by fungal pathogen peptides can lead to Rheumatoid Arthritis. [21]
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD): IBD comprises Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis. A study, comparing faecal microbiota of IBD patients with that of healthy volunteers, showed that fungal microbiota is skewed in IBD, with an increased Basidiomycota/Ascomycota ratio, a decreased proportion of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and an increased proportion of Candida albicans compared with healthy individuals.[22]

2024.03.27 19:10 chistescortos Herbal Infusions for Enhancing Your Health

Herbal infusions are a popular and beneficial choice for improving overall health and well-being. Throughout history, herbal infusions have been appreciated by various cultures for their medicinal properties and their ability to promote physical and emotional balance. From ancient China to Mesoamerican civilizations, herbal infusions have been used as natural remedies for a wide range of ailments and as tools for promoting health, relaxation, and well-being.
In contemporary society, where stress and anxiety are increasingly common, interest in self-care practices is on the rise. In this context, herbal infusions offer a natural and comforting alternative to calm the mind and body. The variety of herbs available for infusions allows people to choose those that best suit their individual needs and preferences, from the soothing properties of chamomile to the stimulating properties of ginger.
In addition to their ability to promote relaxation and reduce stress, herbal infusions are also valued for their physical health benefits. Many herbs used in infusions, such as green tea and rooibos, are rich in antioxidants that combat free radicals and promote cellular health. Other herbs, such as fennel and dandelion, are known for their digestive properties and can help relieve stomach discomfort and improve digestion.
From improving digestion to promoting relaxation, these beverages offer a wide range of benefits for the body and mind. In the following sections, we will explore the specific benefits of opting for herbal infusions, as well as some of the most popular herbs that can be incorporated into daily routines.📷

Health Benefits: Exploring the Positive Effects of Herbal Infusions

Herbal infusions are much more than just a comforting drink; they offer a wide range of health benefits ranging from improved digestion to strengthened immune system. These benefits make herbal infusions an attractive option for those looking to improve their well-being naturally and without unwanted side effects.

Improved Digestion

One of the most well-known benefits of herbal infusions is their ability to improve digestion. Herbs such as chamomile, mint, and ginger are especially effective at relieving stomach discomfort, reducing bloating, and calming intestinal spasms. Chamomile, in particular, has been used for centuries as a remedy for digestive problems such as indigestion and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties and muscle relaxant effects.

Promotes Relaxation and Reduces Stress

In a world where stress and worries are part of daily life, finding moments of calm and relaxation is essential to maintain physical, mental and emotional balance. Herbal infusions such as lavender, valerian, and St. John's wort are known for their sedative and anxiolytic properties, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and promote better sleep quality. A simple ritual of drinking a cup of hot infusion before bedtime can make a big difference in the quality of rest and overall well-being.

Strengthens the Immune System

Some herbs used in infusions, such as elderberry, echinacea, and astragalus, have immunomodulatory properties that stimulate the immune system function and help prevent diseases. These herbs are especially useful during the winter months when respiratory illnesses are more common, as they can help protect the body against colds, flu, and other viral infections.

Provides Antioxidants

Herbal infusions are also an excellent source of antioxidants, compounds that help fight free radicals and protect cells from oxidative damage associated with aging. Herbs like green tea, rooibos, and lemon balm are especially rich in antioxidants, making them excellent allies for maintaining cellular health and helping prevent dangerous health conditions such as heart disease and cancer.
Opting for herbal infusions as part of your daily beverages is a simple and delicious way to improve overall health and well-being. Whether you're looking to alleviate digestive issues, reduce stress, or strengthen your immune system, there's a herbal infusion suitable for you. Incorporating these healthy beverages into your daily routine can make a significant difference in your long-term physical and mental health.

2024.03.19 04:47 belugaleuca Hey Milestone Newborn Box

Hey Milestone Newborn Box
I haven’t seen too many recent reviews so I thought I’d share what was in the newborn box I just received!
Contents: - Hello Fresh coupon (17 free meals across 9 boxes and free breakfasts with subscription) - Dr. Browns anti-colic bottle - Nanobebe Baby’s First Pacifier - Boudreaux Butt Paste (50g) - Jack N Jill Strawberry Toothpaste (5g) - Eucerin Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen (10 mL) - Child Life Echinacea dietary supplement (30 mL) - Ready Set Food Organic Oatmeal with Allergens Inside (8 oz, 15 servings)
Samples: -2x baby Else plant powered almonds & buckwheat super cereal samples (0.5 oz ea) - Mini Bloom Fresh n Clean Hair + Body Wash sample (5 mL) - Mini Bloom Knots Be Gone Hair Detangling Treatment sample (5 mL) - Parasol clear+dry diaper sample size 1 (1x I think)
Overall it’s a pretty interesting box with more variety and unusual products than I got from Amazon/target. My one complaint is that all of the cereals (for 6+ months) were going to pass the best by date before or right when baby is 6 months old (Expiry in June and November, baby due next month at beginning of May so by November baby will be just about 6 months). I did send an email to Hey Milestone and they said I can contact them again after baby is born for a replacement with longer expiry dates.
If not for the expiring cereals I’d say the cost of shipping is worthwhile for the box. But since Hey Milestone has been known to give samples that are close to expiry (for products meant for 6month olds??) it can be a hassle to have to contact for replacement. I am grateful they said they can replace them, but I kind of wish they took into account how far along you said you were, but according to their chat staff, all their boxes are the same regardless of what you select.
It’s still a good selection of samples that probably will come in handy, especially the strawberry toothpaste and sunscreen! I also like having diaper samples to try out. The Hello Fresh coupon is virtually a throwaway since they offer that same promo (still very expensive) in many other places.
I don’t actually know what the echinacea drops are for so I have to read about it before I know if I’ll actually use it, but I was pretty impressed they gave a whole bottle.
Hope this helps!

2024.03.01 02:23 humanoidtyphoon88 Texas natural wildlife pond

Texas natural wildlife pond
I am 100% a pond n00b.
I'm located in North Texas/DFW, zone 7b/8a. I used a shovel and spade to dig 10'x6'x3'D oval pond on my rural property. A simple soil composition test (6" depth) showed relative porportions of 50% sand, 31% silt, and 19% clay. Based on the soil texture triangle, the soil is loamy (borderline sandy loamy). Though every muscle and joint would argue it was 100% clay.
The pond is on a slight slope with rain runoff directed into the pond via a dry creek bed style drain. I learned today that this is the incorrect way because rainwater (acid rain) will elevate pH levels killing plants and any fish (I have no fish). I will now be redirecting the drain around the pond before testing the pond pH, remediating, and adding plants.
I ordered native plants today, avoiding invasives. Since yarrow and milkweed are already growing wild on my property, I didn't purchase those. I do have my eyes on the Iris Louisiana 'Black Gamecock', 'Purple Joy' water lily, as well as adding Indian Blanket and a hibiscus in the future.
Below is a list of some North/Central Texas native wetland plant species (plants I ordered are marked with an asterisk):
Terrestrial Bog (crown above water line): *Cardinal flower Lobelia cardinalis Button bush Cephalanthus occidentalis Western yarrow (white and yellow) Achillea millefolium Butterfly Milkweed Asclepias tuberosa Texas Milkweed Asclepias texana Green milkweed Asclepias viridis Lizard's tail saururus cernuus Wild columbine Aquilegia canadensis Obedient plant Physostegia angustifolia Texas Spider Lily Hymenocallis liriosme

2024.02.22 20:30 detoxguide Vaccine and Spike Detox Guide VSDG

Greening Desert's founder has spent many years documenting important global and shared vital information. Since the end of 2023, he then came up with very few scientific articles, contributions as well as studies on detoxification and healing methods in relation to massive and / or protracted poisoning by too much spikes and /or lipid nanoparticles (LNP). The following are important treatments, detox methods, remedies and therapies are briefly explained below. Further information and links can be found in articles, posts, documentaries, posts or tweets. More updates can also be found in the community network. Nitter.net/djogc, /trilliontreesin,...
All doctors who really care about the health of their patients should inform themselves and pass on the latest data and findings. They should inform their patients as soon as possible, especially those who have been vaccinated a lot with critical vaccines. All those who have fallen ill and been poisoned by the vaccines should think about a health sleep, recovery vacation, a cure and therapy. Exercise, running, cycling, sunbathing, healthy sports and sweating also help with detoxification, as does a hot salt bath.
The following is very important information on mRNA vaccine damage, side effects and long-term after-effects. Detoxification, healing and mitigation of the damage or damage limitation through a healthy lifestyle and curative treatments are almost always possible. Ask and inform yourself if necessary. The data is freely available and may also be copied and shared.
FLCCC Alliance has already published many successful and good treatments and therapies in case of Covid disease, side effects and since 2023 also for long-term side effects since 2020. FLCCC.net/protocols Unfortunately, this was not seen in many earlier searches and, judging by the number of hits on the articles, apparently not read by many others. It was probably also due to all the suppression, suppression and censorship since 2020. There are still almost no articles or contributions in German to this day - that is highly alarming!
Here are some useful foods, plant parts and substances that can help to resolve or reduce side effects and damage caused by the vaccines - especially in cases of poisoning and excessive numbers of spikes and toxins. Everyone should inform themselves about the correct application and, depending on the case, possibly visit or ask a doctor. Some good examples: Astaxanthin, blood oranges, organic eggs, nettle, cistus tea, echinacea, fennel tea, goldenrod, pomegranate, grapefruit, oat bran?, hemp oil, ginger, currants, carrots, turmeric, linseed oil, dandelion, milk thistle seeds, nutmeg, garlic, magnesium, maca, mallow, omega 3 EPA & DHA, Olives, oregano, parsley, peppermint, pine needle tea, prebiotics, probiotics such as kefir, burdock root, cress, sage, sauerkraut, selenium, celery, sesame seeds, foods rich in shikimate and quercetin, spermidine, star anise, licorice, vitamin A-E+K2, zeolites, cinnamon, zinc, ... .. You don't need everything, just a few of the remedies can help. Some of the foods are also antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, immunizing and good for inflammation, parasites, fungal infections, ...
The body's own defense substances, antibodies or immune bodies and immune messengers can help with many diseases and recovery. Good and very strong health protection and strengthening of the immune system is possible through a varied, balanced and healthy diet. Balanced, healthy and daily exercise is also very healthy. Purification, fasting, healing cold and heat treatments, Kneipp cures, saunas, sweating, swimming and forest bathing also help with detoxification and body cleansing as well as with many known illnesses - can also be preventative or precautionary. Rain, fresh air, ventilation and clean water can also detoxify. The dose makes a poison or a good medicine. A good and healthy environment promotes healing.
For more vital advice on vaccine damage, long-term side effects, remedies, detox methods and therapies, see Dr. Peter McCullough and Dr. William Makis and many other good doctors and medical professionals. They have shared thousands of cases and hugely important contributions to health and science since 2020. Many people have been successfully treated! They are the real heroes of the "pandemic".
After much practical experience, evidence, proof and more clear or big data about the spike problem as well as other toxic elements and problematic reactions after vaccination with critical or harmful mRNA vaccines,... ...it is definitely the responsibility of science, politics and media from January 2024 to share all important public and scientific data to prevent / avoid further harm, severe and long disease courses and deaths. Further detoxification, health protection programs, methods and therapies should be developed and adequately promoted. As well as the accelerated education, pacification and detoxification of the minds and mental states of so many should be much more of an issue - such as freedom rights, women's rights, fundamental rights, children's rights, human rights and mental health.
As a reminder, this informative and scientific article is not a specific guide or a request to use the indicated remedies and foods. These are simply recommendations with important tips and information. Some remedies or substances can of course be overdosed and consumed too much, but who eats kilos or spoons of turmeric a day? Some people do not tolerate certain foods, which should then be avoided or used in tolerated variants. Everyone can first inform themselves well, ask medical experts and / or doctors. In the case of strong remedies and good medicines such as astaxanthin, bentonite, bromelain, glutation, ivermecetin, NAC, nattokinase, quercetin, resveratrol, sulforaphane and similar products, a compatible treatment should be discussed with a doctor and / or medical professional. This also applies to very strong antibacterial products and prolonged use, as there are also good bacteria and fungi in the body. Any sensible person who knows the foods and detoxification cures or therapies can decide for themselves. Alfalfa, artichokes, Ayuveda, wild garlic, bladderwrack or fucus?, watercress, chili, cayenne, chlorella, hops, chervil, coriander, roseroot and mustard can promote detoxification.
Optimism and realism would certainly do many people a lot of good after the last few years - as would more courage, motivation, logical, sensible and forward-looking thinking. This also includes mindfulness, insight, more commitment to others, solidarity and consideration. You can find out more about the important basics and topics in the many articles and contributions by Greening Deserts on the Internet and in some libraries.

Optional applications to the detox programs and other healing information are briefly summarized here. Whether these are primary, secondary or irrelevant depends on each individual case, context and also on each person themselves. Not all treatments, remedies, therapies and other suggestions are equally effective for everyone. It is best to consult or otherwise communicate with friends and relatives as well as good people and people you trust, including those who also have experience or knowledge of the issues. Anyone who is unsure or uncertain should do their own research, ask questions and simply inform themselves. Nowadays, many people have the opportunity to use libraries, books, documentaries and the internet with many alternative sources of information as well as various media. This should also be a topic in many of the educational institutions, schools, universities, well-known and independent media.
Pine or pine needle tea and other good medicinal teas can help against the Covid virus and alleviate symptoms and severe courses of the disease. Who would have thought it? The above-mentioned foods, remedies and medicines can also be used as teas with honey and / or good salts - this further increases the positive effect, added value and benefits. This useful advice is free but not for nothing, because it does a lot of good, improves health, our situation, the state of society and understanding - also for a better and greener future with more hemp and green teas. In addition to the material remedies and methods, here are a few good applications / tips from the author. Color, light and music therapy can also help a lot in the healing of various diseases - as well as hand and foot reflexology.
Lateral thinking and lateral thinkers used to be good words, but they were unfortunately devalued by framing, propaganda and language manipulation. People who think differently were defamed, discriminated against or declared crazy. Wasn't Germany known as a country of inventors, poets and thinkers? What has become of this spirit and society? Save lives every day and pass on the information about spike detoxification, dangerous vaccines and spike proteins that we have often shared in recent years. Check more here and on our social community pages. Read especially the contributions of the doctors and physicians who regularly share / have shared data and important information about successful applications, healing methods, vaccination damage, side effects and therapies. Some of the therapies have been used successfully with many patients and can be used at home.
The essential tips and vital advice are not a guide or invitation to detoxify or initiate a detoxification of toxins and heavy metals. The article and other writings on the topics mentioned are purely informal. The provisions / explanations described on the pages apply. Everyone is responsible for how they use the information and every sensible person can decide for themselves. Important principles of ethics, medical ethics and humanitarian principles must be observed by medical professionals, especially in order to make a real contribution to improving human medicine. The future will show who has really learned from crises such as the pandemic and has done something for their fellow human beings or society and perhaps even for humanity as a whole. It is also similar with courage, morality, humanity and solidarity in the long term.
Many physicians and doctors were not or only very little informed about the vaccines or had no proper education or training in this regard. This also applies to important doctrines and principles of bioethics, ethics, social and international laws, medical ethics, human rights, moral and ethical principles - regulations, declarations and guidelines in this regard. Good doctors, physicians and scientists educate themselves more often in these areas - thus contributing to human medicine and medical science. They also improve good medical developments in general. A good understanding of right and wrong, assessments of risks, techniques and technologies are also important for responsible and future developments and actions in these areas. Declarations of principle such as the Declaration of Helsinki are regarded as the standard of medical ethics and are sometimes applied in different versions - in Germany also by some doctors, medical institutes, universities and university ethics committees. Unfortunately, however, such important declarations are not or almost not enshrined in law, such as the Nuremberg Code. This can have fatal consequences for countries, people and societies, especially when it comes to important basic social principles and rights - such as civil liberties, fundamental rights and human rights. There are also drafts for info letters (2-Pager), mid-sized with up to eight pages and very detailed version with ten pages and more for scientific purposes.
The information is not an instruction or invitation to carry out a detox cure or treatment. 2024.02.22 19:34 detoxguide Vaccine and Spike Detox Guide VSDG - Short Version

Any resources for someone start their journey to Shamanism? (Pic of my 1st smudge set up)
I've asked so many friends if they knew any reliable shamans, but none of them can ever direct me to one. Something in me today said "fuck it bro, if you can't find a shaman, become one." So I'd like to begin my journey, and idc how long it takes. I'm 21 and Imma tell you a couple anecdotes about myself.
The first time I did shrooms, I did 2.8 gs after a Good Friday service and Jesus spoke to me and comforted me on me struggling with acceptence of my bisexuality.
My freshman year of college I was a political science major on a fast track to being a lawyer. Humanities just didn't feel like education because they are subjective; I didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth. My friend told me that my college offered a degree called "Medicinal Plant Science, which is in the School of Plant, Environment, and Soil Sciences. Honestly I just wanted to do it for weed (lmao.) But then I discovered the herb mullien and started putting it in my blunts. To my surprise, my smoker's cough went away. At first I thought it would be easy and straightforward, but, as I went on in my college career, the classes started getting way more in depth and most agriculture classes have labs, in which we propagate plants or make plant products.
Last year (sophomore year) I almost died in a car crash when a semi truck clipped me. I was sleep deprived, so my reaction time just wasn't there and I ended up spinning out. I spun around 720° and had to counter steer to not die. I was driving around 40-50 mph and the whole world went into slow motion around me. I entered a flow state that I imagine F1 drivers feel (lmao.) Anyway, I should have died, but I didn't; I walked away with only some whiplash. After that I knew I had a purpose.
This is my junior year and so far I've fully converted to plant medicine. Don't get me wrong, I love cannabis, but my favorite medicinal plant is mullien. I've learned about many medicinal plants (100s in fact,) but I don't remember all of them ofc. I also started using insence and the first time I did, I felt connected to a spiritual force of some sort; I was also wearing my mala with the tree of life on it.
Today I made a smudge stick with rosemary and juniper. I watched a couple tutorials on smudging and read some things and tried it with my new smudge stick. I have a big ass sea shell and a cool hawk feather I found on the ground one day. With these items I smudged my friend's house and then smudged her and her boyfriend. They said they felt better (all of use got the flu at Mardi Gras lmao,) and had the energy to get out of bed. I kinda freestyled it and just said the words that came to me. After I smudged myself, I felt my mind cleansed and felt a sense of comfort. I can really sense auras yet, but, oddly enough, I felt good auras in every room I smudged.
I know my next step is to make my own drum because I feel my future drum calling me, waiting to sync to my heartbeat.
I grew up Baptist, but now I consider myself a spiritual pantheist (pantheism means God = Science, Nature, Laws of the universe, etc.) My enlightenment began when I started taking psychedelics (somewhat of a psychonaut.) I view religion as a pie, every religion gets a piece of the pie, but none of them get the full pie; the only way to get the full pie is to have an understanding of all religions (specifically the traditional ones like Druidism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Indigenous religions, Nordic religions, and ofc Shamanism.) Basically I think everyone should have their own religion cocktail.
Lastly, as someone who is 3 semesters away from being a full fledged plant scientist, I can say with confidence that herbal medicine works (not saying it's a cure, since everyone reacts differently to substances.) I used herbs like mint, licorice, star anise, rosemary, echinacea, lemon grass, ginger, tumeric, and manglier to treat my throat, cough, and my general flu symptoms (not recommending these to treat ailments, but I am recommending doing research yourself before you ingest any herbal substance.) If you ever wanna know if a plant is medicinal, go to a search engine and type "___ medicinal uses." Anything from NCBI or any other biomedical databases is gonna be reliable. Plants, in general, produce secondary metabolites, which are compound that can be used as medicine (super simplified explanation.) Ever since I've experienced what nature's pharmacy offers, I've just felt reverence for nature and felt connected to it. BUT THEN AGAIN, WHAT DO I KNOW? I AIN'T A DOCTOR, AND I STILL GO TO MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS WHEN I NEED TO.
I also have like 20-30 houseplants, which makes my living room have a great aura and nice air quality. Ight Imma stop yappin and let yall respond; shit's getting long and I hate to bore people.

2024.02.20 20:25 thehighroller23 What happened to Cannabliss tinctures?

I used to work in the medicinal marijuana business around 2007 to 2009. There was a really good cannabis tincture that was called canna bliss. They had small colored, eyedropper bottles with a cherry cordial for pain and a echinacea type flavor for colds. And I think they also did honey if I’m not mistaken. (?) these were the best products and brand for my elder patients.
Picture of the tincture and salve tubes I found.
I could not really find this brand outside of Santa Cruz during that time. when I have tried looking for it again, I could not find it anywhere.
Does anyone know anything about the Brand, the owners, etc. i’m trying to see if they still make the product, or where I could find a similar one, or perhaps, if they’re educators who will teach how to make the tinctures. ???
Any help would be awesome.

2024.02.16 20:41 yoniyum 3WPO hysterectomy experience and tips (LONG!)

This sub was incredibly helpful for my surgery preparation, including mental and emotional prep, so I want to give back by sharing my story and answering questions that anyone might have. I hope everyone is having or will have an uneventful surgery and recovery process!
Surgery Details:
1/26/24 laparoscopic hysterectomy with robot assist, everything removed except left ovary (uterus, cervix, both tubes, right ovary), age 47 and was already post-menopausal. Diagnosis of atypical endometrial hyperplasia (AEH) was the reason for surgery. Had lots of bleeding and pain the past year due to the AEH - pretty much everyday for the last six months.
My surgery experience was – odd to say – nice. I’ll give more details on the actual surgery if anyone wants it. They gave me a dose of Versed after I met with the surgeon and anesthesia team, so I don’t remember anything after them starting to wheel me out of the room until I woke up post-op. That’s how I wanted it.
I watched YouTube videos of similar procedures and this calmed my anxiety more than anything else. Knowing exactly what would happen and why during the procedure took away my fear of the unknown. I also watched Michelle Kenway’s YouTube videos about hysterectomy recovery and recommend them, especially the one about getting out of bed. I also recommend doing leg exercises everyday post-op for the first few days to prevent blood clots.
Recovery:
My recovery thus far has been uneventful and much easier than I anticipated. I feel lucky and grateful. I am not particularly healthy or unhealthy other than the AEH that led to the surgery, although I am very overweight. I expected to be mostly useless physically and mentally post-op and neither was the case, even the first night. I was home by 5:45 p.m. and napped for a couple of hours, then I was up and walking around (very carefully). I have only been in bed to sleep at night and have spent my days on my reclining sofa or in my desk chair.
Things I credit with my easy recovery: bowel prep and sheer freaking luck. I think you can do everything right and your body will still rebel.
Some tidbits from the notes I took on my recovery notepad:
Bowel prep info:
(Please discuss bowel prep with your surgeon and don’t just follow the advice of some stranger on Reddit but here is my experience.) I was not required to do bowel prep but choose to do so anyway, with approval from my surgery team. I decided to do it to help avoid accidental nicks or other damage and because I suspected that I had adhesions to my colon, etc. It turned out that I did, and the surgeon was able to remove them.
I absolutely credit bowel prep with some of the ease of my recovery. I had no constipation and no gas pains. None. I pooped 1DPO with no issues or pain.
I used this method: https://pacificendometriosis.com/bowel-prep/ but I also started a daily laxative about 5 days pre-op.
For my clear liquids, I drank bone broth, apple juice, coconut water, and Ensure Clear Nutrition drink in addition to the Powerades that I drank my Miralax in. I kept my laxative Powerades at room temperature rather than refrigerated because it was easier to chug down. At one point during the prep day, I did feel dizzy, lightheaded and weird but I was mostly fine by the next morning for surgery. I absolutely was pooping out everything until it was literally just clear water coming out. I used a peri bottle which helped with soreness. I had Vaseline in case I needed it but I didn't. The Vaseline was a suggestion from a friend who had recently done bowel prep for a colonoscopy. I also used wet wipes which helped with soreness.
