Med surg mixed test questions

Hi everyone!
I hope you are all doing well today.I wanted to ask a question re pain intervention.I have stage 4 cancer in a delicate area of my body and my oncologist sent me to an anesthesiologist whom I met with this morning.It was about a proposed nerve block procedure to help with my considerable pain that currently is not controlled properly with prescription pain meds.
Me: "What percentage of patients have no beneficial effects from this nerve block procedure?"Doctor:
"Oh. Minimal"
Me: "Do you know what percentage of patients find this procedure doesn't work at all?"
Doctor: "Yes about 33% get no beneficial help"
Me: "To me that percentage is significant, not minimal"
Doctor: (laughs) "Yes I understand. It's all to do with perception, isn't it?"
Thoughts? Do you think a third of patients getting no benefit from a surgical procedure is a significant number and would it sway you from having the surgery?

I currently have an Acorns account with about $4,000 invested total. Around $3k of that is in stocks and bonds and the rest is in an Acorns traditional IRA. I put around $180/month into the stocks and bonds and $60/month into the IRA. I will continue doing this for the foreseeable future. I plan on not touching any of this money until retirement. My question is not whether I should be using Acorns or not because I know there are mixed reviews about it. I should also say I don’t really know much about investing and such, obviously.
I also put around $220/month into the 401k at my work. It comes out to about 10% of my monthly income that goes into this account.
So clearly I put more money into the Acorns accounts. Like I said, I plan on not touching any of this until retirement. I want this money to grow with compound interest over many years. At least I think that’s what I should do. I suppose what I’m asking is there a general clear answer to this? Like is there an answer to this that it widely known? Something all financial experts would say?

So about a month ago my 9 year old dachshund/feist mix started having explosive diarrhea, it was pure liquid. After trying the white rice/chicken/pumpkin diet for a week and reintroducing her food without it getting better we took her to the vet. It wasn't parasites or an infection so our vet gave us some probiotics and pectin with the wc/p diet and then weening back to her regular food nothing was getting better so we went back. Turns out her albumin was low so he threw in another test for Addisons (it came back negative) and suggested an ultrasound. Unfortunately she didn't make it to that ultrasound appointment, that night she was vomiting/ had diarrhea, she wasn't getting up to use the bathroom and was very disoriented. I ended up having to take her to the ER. The vet was saying she has protein losing enteropathy but to find out more an ultrasound was needed. So she had to stay for the day, do the ultrasound, X-ray, and vitals, etc. Which cost us $2,300. After the ultrasound didn't show cancer but there was thickening of her intentestines, she suggested putting her under and doing a biopsy which we couldn't afford. It would have ran us $4-$6k, so we decided to do maintenance at home with meds and a new diet. She was put on dex injection for 4 days then move to Prednisone pills, atopica, paxil, and cerenia for nausea. The new food was hills low fat wet food (which for a month would have ran us $225 a month). We were also given an appointment with an internist for the following Monday.
Unfortunately, she did not do well on this new food with the meds. She was having diarrhea hourly and it was almost completely blood. We took her home last Wednesday and by Sunday she was back at the ER it got so bad (all they did was give her fluids and antibiotics and told us to wait until her internist appt). And on Sunday I started her back on the chicken and rice too curb the diarrhea a little bit which didn't really help. After seeing the internist on Monday she did bloodwork again and suggested a couple of tweaks to the meds (lowered the atopica, and went back to shots of dex for a bit instead of the Prednisone pills). This vet appt cost $500 including the cost of the meds and she said I'm supposed to see heget new meds weekly. It is now Wednesday and she is still having diarrhea multiple times a day that are almost completely blood even on the chicken and rice. She is also losing weight fast, she went from 29.5 when we first went to the vet for this to 23.8 as of Monday.
I love my dog so much, she is the first pet of my own but I realistically cannot afford this treatment. We are already $5k in the hole from this and I don't see an end in sight (besides her albumin going up a little bit from last Wednesday). I'm not sure what to do and I'm very upset I'm forced to make this decision. From looking online and asking the vet, dogs with PLE have a life expectancy of 6-12 months. Do I go into debt over this? What would you do in this situation? I feel like a horrible owner for not being able to afford this. Any advice/experience/help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you guys ever feel like your lymph nodes are being attacked? It feels like my muscles, nerves and bones are weakening rapidly. I’m experience neurological and kidney stuff stuff too. I got a 4 on my AP music theory test last year. I would like to share my experience, and how bad it was, to give yall hope. 💕
Aural MCQ - I was a slacker in class. These questions were WAYYY too fast for me. It was a LOT. I barely had time to bubble. Most of my answers were educated guesses after marking off 2/3 answer choices. Absolutely terrible
Non-Aural MCQ - Somehow worse?? Well, I was better at answering the questions because I could spend time on them. But, since it was my first AP, I didn’t know they wouldn’t give us 5 or 1 minute timestamps. And I was waiting on that to start bubbling C for the ones I haven’t gotten to. Come to my horror, time was called, and 13 questions were left blank. Completely unanswered.

Melodic Dictations - Not bad. I always screw up or flip the rhythms though, so I def did that. I’m in choir, so I’m good with pitches, but not the best. So if I mess up a note, I’ll mess up the rest of the measure, but then get back on it.
Harmonic Dictations - I could actually hear the bass during the test, cause normally I couldn’t pick it out at all cause I’m a soprano 1 and I play violin, so I’m always top. Kinda crazy. This wasn’t the best, and I def wrote in some random notes that I couldn’t hear in the bass, but overall not bad.
Part Writing Roman Numerals/Figured Bass - this is exclusively the only thing I studied because it was fun. I was goated. Too good.
Composition: LOL I still don’t know how to do that. I just made sure if one part had a quarter, the other would have eighth notes. Wrote in random notes in steps or thirds and then ended in authentic cadences for every phrase. Then I added in the chords.
Sightsinging - first was major simple, I slayed. Was very shaky and sharp, but pitch accuracy was 100%, just not my intonation. Second one was fine. I screwed up a dotted eighth sixteenth eighth, and just choked for that part, but I ended on the last note. Still shaky and sharp.

A different discussion than typical here I suspect:
I’ve done my marathon. Second one ever and last was 26 years earlier. I may do another one someday but no plan and not soon. I know I could have had a better time if I didn’t fall for the stupidity of running faster than I had planned but satisfied. I’ve no need to achieve a new PB (although it would have been nice!) Maybe make it a 26 year anniversary thing! A marathon at 91 would be a great goal! 😀
But I do enjoy distance running as part of my basic varied fitness mix!
Those of us who have completed your marathons - how have you integrated continued distance running into your broader fitness plans on the other side? Do you stick with very run focused work but aiming at half marathons or less? Work on runs of higher intensity but shorter duration? More hills and intervals for example. Go to a much less run centric plan with runs no more than three times a week and more strength and various cross training work be it bike swim erg elliptical stairs rucking other or all? Any preferences and why?
Keeping an endurance base to leave the option of another marathon with a 16 week plan would be nice, but personally I find variety to be be more fun and to leave me feeling more fit in a balanced way.
I hope this question isn’t considered heresy here!! Seriously not sure if many here do come out the other side …

I have a 60g tank and am wanting to buy and house 2 female Plakats. (One for me and one for my girl.) For optimal health and enrichment do they need the usual 4 for a "Sorority"? The tank would be heavily planted with lots of hiding places. Main question is, would their interactions be bad due to the lack of numbers or would the space make it doable? Although i have kept other fish in good health, I havent kept bettas before and deeply value proper care. Any tips or tricks would be welcome. I am inclined to get females due to their longer lifespan but could settle for a healthy male.

I had a Watson Fundoplication on May 7th. Here’s what the pre-op, day of operation, and first week looked like.
Pre-op: My surgeon is big on taking things from other specialties and applying them to this procedure. Due to this he has all patients do a liver shrinking diet. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t think I was going to do it at first until I watched a video showing how impactful it can be. It’s a super restrictive diet, I lost 10 lbs in 7 days, but it paid off.
Day of operation: I had the Watson Fundoplication due to a previously known swallowing issue. It was done robotically. I have 6 incisions; one right below my sternum and five straight across my stomach. I was also enrolled in a study for a new mesh. The results so far sound promising.
I woke up in a lot of pain, but they gave me medication and within an hour I was eating pudding without issue or pain. By hour 2 I was walking and shortly after I was sent home. At home I had no issue with pain and honestly felt great. I couldn’t explain it, but everything finally felt like it was in the right spot. In fact as soon as the pain was managed, this was the first thing I said.
Days 1-2: my pain was managed well and things were going great. Had some diaphragm pain, but nothing major. I was off all pain meds, with the exception of ibuprofen within 36 hours. I was bloated, but walking, gas-x, and peppermint tea was a lifesaver. Another note, get an airplane pillow… another lifesaver.
Day 3: everything was going great until out of nowhere the infamous laparoscopic pain hit. It came out of no where and I could not seem to get away from it. It really only lasted about 24 hours, but it was by far the worst day. I still have some shoulder pain, but that is mainly due to the stitches in my diaphragm.
Day 4 to present: things have gotten better each day. I am able to move more each day. I am beyond tired of the liquid diet, but it is what it is.
Things I have learned. Thicker liquids are easier than water type liquids. Warmer is easier than colder. If you are gonna have soup, make sure it is well blended. East very slow. This was the hardest one for me, but it’s getting better.

so i (21f) recently moved to a new city in march and have been relying on ubers and such to get me around. i have my learner’s permit but i don’t have a vehicle. i am currently in the US (NY to be exact) i also don’t know anyone around here that can help me with learning more on how to drive or to take me to take my driver’s test. my boyfriend (m21) is an hour away and can teach me. but he doesn’t want me to drive his car at all because he doesn’t like it when others drive his car. i’m not entirely sure what i can do. i am a college student with not a lot of money so driving school is out of the question. does anyone have an advice?

Hi, I’ve been using Hydroxyzine for the past couple months to deal with attacks and go about my day and it’s a lifesaver. However, I am aware of its anticholinergic nature and that it can create memory issues and dementia risk when taken long term, and it does tend to make me drowsier and feel my heart a lot more, so I’m really looking forward for an alternative.
Are there any medications that work similarly to it in the short term? Or is there anything that works for long-term? Buspar is out of the question, I already tried it and it doesn’t help. I’ve also tried an SSRI but I had terrible side effects, I absolutely do not want any emotional blunting.
I’m honestly debating on going at it med-free but it’s scary and too challenging to keep up my responsibilities at the same time. Any generalized advice is appreciated as well, thank you.

I don’t know when it started. But I think it’s when I had a bad addiction for “bad” things on my phone. I started to always be doubtful. If anyone says something that’s even true I always doubt and seek evidence for it. It became extra that I start questioning stuff about Islam. I always say zhikr and try to avoid my doubtfulness but I’m struggling. It even impacted me whenever I take tests where I take such a long time analyzing a question even when the answer is easy I doubt myself and think “no way it’s this easy”. Idk what this is or how it happened/persists. But I need guidance!

Hi! So basically I found two kittens abandoned in the middle of the road. I decided to at least temporarily take care of them, and I’m having problems with feeding.
I took them to the vet and they’re about 1 pound each and the vet suggested that they’re also about 4 to 5 weeks and should be able to eat wet food. However, she said I could always mix the wet food with kitten’s milk formula to try to ween them off if they’re having problems eating the wet food.
I was able to finally get them to eat the wet food by itself by feeding them with my fingers but they suck pretty hard and this isn’t a liable option for me to do in the long run.
Essentially my question is should I mix the wet food with kitten’s milk? Or just have them eat wet food? And what’s better for me to use with the consistency. A nursing bottle or a syringe? Or something else entirely like a plastic spoon?

Rulers of the Outer World was stumping me to no end and while I am by no means an expert gamer, I prefer completing difficult challenges with my own strategies before taking to YouTube and seeing what the pros do. After a particularly harrowing night staying up until 4:30am and getting wrecked by Virtual Sephiroth, I decided to take a break and switch to the Legendary Challenges. Cait Sith was the most annoying but still, I managed to clear it which opened up the Zack and Sephiroth fights…
Nevertheless, I decided to give them a whirl because I had gotten sick of Rulers at that point.
Enter To be a Hero.
Cleared it on my first attempt via a casual “mess-around” run where I just wanted to play with Sephiroth (our time with him in the first chapter was way too short) and take virtual photos. You can see in the video that I was practically re-learning to play Sephiroth on the fly and was amazed that I was getting through each round in spite of the rocky start, not to mention Cloud is running a Buster Sword build purely for aesthetics.
Now it’s time for the big one, Bonds of Friendship.
Okay. From everything I was reading, the Sephiroth Challenge is more fun than anything else considering how OP he is so it is perfectly reasonable to clear it even on a blind run with enough luck on your side. Zack? Different story and oooof, did this challenge throw me through the wringer. Still, I managed to clear it after two days and was absolutely flabbergasted watching speed run videos afterwards with the vaunted “Wind Killer” build. Suffice it to say, I probably should have sucked it up and watched a guide or two beforehand as that would have saved me a lot of headache but still, it was a nice feeling of accomplishment knowing that I was able to clear this bout my way.
Finally, I came back to my most hated enemy — Rulers of the Outer World.
After some more failed attempts, I cracked and looked up a few guides. The “Yuffie Dance Attack” seemed perfectly viable and I was this close to implementing it until I stumbled upon a video that showed how to perfect parry Shadowy Chains for those of us (mostly old guys like me) who have lost the lightning fast reflexes from the days of their youth. It’s an infinitely sound strategy that I had never thought of and upon utilizing it, I finally managed to take out Virtual Sephiroth and earn the Götterdämmerung. My run through Rulers was a protracted battle of attrition that required two parts to encompass but still, I am proud of this achievement and will be happily spamming Brumal Form or any other meta setup the next time I give this challenge a whirl.

I am curious to know if anyone else here has had a similar experience to my own. From everything I have gathered, it would appear that the majority of the player base cleared Rulers first and then used the Götterdämmerung to make life easier with Zack and Sephiroth. After seeing so many rage about Bonds of Friendship, I am somewhat shocked that I managed to clear that before the Outer World.
To conclude, I have always been intimidated by FromSoft games due to their high difficulty spike and the fact that I would have an extremely difficult time fitting it into my busy schedule. I was this close to purchasing Sekiro back in the summer of 2020 but work finally picked up again so of course, I had to put gaming on the back burner. A lot of my friends have tried to convince me to give Elden Ring a shot but again, the learning curve dissuaded me. I enjoy platinuming games but usually prefer simple affairs as I am far from being an expert gamer. Remake was definitely challenging but fair as there were only a couple trophies that truly tested me. With Rebirth, I was tested over and over again to the point that I got numb to it. Hell, I spent an entire weekend on the Chocobo Races alone as I am basically crap at the racing genre.
Now having earned the Platinum, I have a question for all the FromSoft players on this forum. How would you rank Rebirth’s platinum compared to Elden and Sekiro? If I was able to survive the Brutal and Legendary Challenges here, would I stand a chance against Malenia even without elite players carrying me? What about the Sword Saint?
