2024.05.15 01:48 _CyberRoses The Decline of Football Gaming: From PES to eFootball - A Rant on Lost Merit and Competition

Because football and the video games that aim to virtualize it have always been about competition, merit, tactics, outsmarting your opponent, accomplishment, and ultimately, the reward. The thrill of crafting the perfect strategy, the satisfaction of honing your skills, and the excitement of seeing your hard work pay off on the virtual pitch were what made the old PES series, especially PES 2013, so captivating. But today, with games like eFootball and FC24, it feels like these core principles have been pushed aside in favor of monetization schemes that allow players to bypass the essence of the game entirely.
In eFootball and FC24, you can receive rewards without even needing to play the game, simply by spending money. This undermines the entire concept of competition and merit. Legendary players, who should be rare and symbolize a player's dedication and skill, are now accessible to anyone willing to open their wallet. In the old PES days, having a legendary player in your squad was a badge of honor, a sign that you had achieved something remarkable through skill and perseverance.
Maybe it's because I'm an older player and my values are different, with higher standards (no offense meant) than what I see in this generation of video game players. I remember playing PES 2013 Master League for countless hours. Back in the golden age of PES, to keep and maintain a squad of the best players in the game, you needed to reach at least the quarterfinals of a competition regularly. Each match was a test of your abilities, and each victory felt earned. The grind was real, but it was also rewarding.
Today in eFootball, the experience is starkly different. Instead of fostering a community of players who respect each other and enjoy the competition, the game seems to breed toxicity. All too often, the messages I receive are offensive, sent by spoiled kids who can't handle a loss. They lack the sportsmanship to acknowledge a good game and often resort to insults whether they win or lose. In the past, most of the messages we PES players exchanged were to congratulate each other with a simple "GG" for the good match we played. There was a mutual respect that made the online community a much more pleasant place to be.
This decline in community spirit and the shift away from rewarding genuine skill is disheartening. The joy of outsmarting an opponent with a well-timed strategy or the thrill of scoring a goal after a meticulously built-up play has been overshadowed by the ease with which success can be bought. The games today feel more like a business transaction than a test of football acumen.
Furthermore, the move to mobile gaming and the focus on microtransactions have diluted the experience even more. I doubt this makes any sense to someone who plays on a mobile phone. The depth, the tactics, the thrill of a full 90-minute match – these are elements that are hard to replicate on a mobile device. The PC and console versions offered an immersive experience that mobile games just can't match.
Back in the days of PES 2013, the gameplay was rich and nuanced. Every decision on the field mattered, and every match felt like a new challenge. There was a sense of accomplishment when you finally managed to sign that elusive star player or led your team to victory in a hard-fought league. Today, it feels like the heart and soul of football gaming have been stripped away in favor of quick, easy, and purchasable gratification.
I could keep going, but I think I've made my point. The golden age of PES was about skill, strategy, and respect. Today's games, unfortunately, seem to have lost sight of these values. PC Master Race (I'm kidding, but also kind of not).

2024.05.15 01:45 simagus LPT: get the best deals on phone, internet and other services when switching provider or being convinced not to. ;)

LPT: Each level of CSA (customer service agents) has a cap and limitations on what they are allowed to help with, sometimes how often per shift or week, and what "special" offers they are allowed to let you know about.
I've been passed to Tier 2 a couple of times after just asking immediately, or after the Tier 1 CSA realises I'm not willing to accept their resolution or the offers they are approved to suggest, which sometimes they have to document offering before being allowed to pass you up a tier. That varies.
This is particularly beneficial if you are thinking about changing any service provider, like your cell phone or internet.
All of these places have retentions departments they will pass you to if nothing else works (and you are nice), so you can also straight up ask to be put through to retentions if you get bored turning down their only slightly cheaper packages and offers.
It's typically Tier 1, then Tier 2 and then retentions. Be polite and understanding at all times and you will get better service and a better resolution.
Can save a fair amount of money if you know this stuff btw....

2024.05.15 01:44 GEATS-IV How can i stop being afraid of cancer?

It's been days since i started to have a headache, sometimes it stops but it comes back again, i'm afraid that this might be cancer, my parents say it's because my glasses have increased, that it's just stress or because I'm on my cell phone a lot, but I'm not sure. A constant headache can be anything other than cancer. If yes, what?

2024.05.15 01:38 Sea-Thing-3725 AIO found condom wrapper in his car

Me (25f) and my bf (26m) live together. I am out of the military and he’s in. He’s currently in the field and said I could use his car. A few weeks went by and he’s gona be back soon so I cleaned it out and found a whole condom wrapper in the side door. He has his phone so I sent him a picture of it and told him I found this in the side door. He replied and told me it was just pocket trash and asked me how my day was. I began ignoring him and he kept going on and said it was in his sweatpants pocket with his wallet and he pulled it out, saw it, and threw it there before heading into the store. It’s the same condoms we used. We also recently found out I’m pregnant (very early on still). He’s never given me a reason to not trust him, he treats me well, and other than this there’s never been any signs of anything. Idk if I should believe him or not or what to do?

2024.05.15 01:35 Koink Strange MM Hack?

Hi. I wonder if anyone can help me figure out how my MM wallet was compromised?
I have MM on my Android phone and a scammer convinced me to sign a web form on my phone but I don't think that's how the scam happened.
After filling in the web form on my phone I was socially engineered into downloading and installing what I thought was an online game on my PC (DustFighters) and I executed the application. I later realised that the most valuable tokens were gone from MM but the low value tokens remained.
I removed the MM from Chrome extension a few weeks ago but forgot the extension was still on Edge.
I did not have my seed phrase or password saved on my PC.
I'm wondering if the fake game executable was a remote desktop type program that gave the scammer access to my PC but if so, how did they get my MM password / seed?
I know the crypto is gone for good but I just want to understand how it happened.
Thanks

2024.05.15 01:28 InternationalYam4461 AITAH for considering breaking up with my boyfriend?

Hey there...I need some advice about this. My boyfriend (35M) and I (30F) have been together for about 10 months. I started dating him a year after I got divorced from a very unfaithful man. Ex-husband cheated on me (online and physically) for the entire 7 years we'd been together (married for 2). Yes, I was stuck in a very unhealthy cycle with this man. I regret sticking it out past the first year and I've been in counseling since before the divorce. I know where I chose to ignore all the red flags by the time I found out he had cheated on me. I've been working hard to do what's right for me since. By the time we got divorced, I was so unattached, I really do believe I just stayed because it was what I knew for so long.
My counselor has been with me every step of the way during my dating journey after the divorce, and I'm brutally honest with her about everything because I don't want to make the same mistakes again. My nervous system is triggered by small things here and there still, and my boyfriend and I have been able to with through them and talk things out for the past 10 months. He knows my history and how badly I was hurt by my ex-husband (self- inflicted after the first time I caught him cheating with a girl from his hometown, I'll admit.)
My boyfriend, who has been nothing but warm, doting, patient, and consistent with me since the beginning, was also hurt pretty badly by his ex. He proposed and she took off with the expensive ring without telling him that she was leaving for good. She was in another relationship quickly after she dumped him over the phone a while later.
We agreed to be open about our cell phones, and we talked about all that a couple of months into the relationship. I'd never had a feeling in my gut that he was hiding something at all, and if I did have a question about something, he was quick to say that I could look through his phone if it made me feel more secure.
The other day, I reached for his phone to take a photo of us, and he grabbed it out of my hands, nervously saying that he'd just take the photo since I was laying down. My gut squirmed instantly. Then he told me I could look through his phone if I wanted to. So I did. I am always open with him about my phone, and he's always been open about his until this weird little interaction.
Initially, I saw he was just hiding some porn he was watching (I don't care about that, I watch a little porn sometimes, too. He gets embarrassed easily about that stuff, so I give him a hard time about it and joke with him. He is really shy when it comes to porn, but I like that about him. If anything, I've even mentioned we should watch it together just to see him blush.) So I didn't think too much of it.
Then, I saw in his Instagram messages that he had sent a few kissy face emojis along with a "Happy New Year!" to some lady. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, and figured maybe it was just an old friend. He has a lot of older ranch friends from the area he's from, so I chalked it up to that. Turns out, she had lightly been putting it out there to him the week before my birthday, saying he checked off a bunch of things on her wishlist, but she wanted to know if he could ride horses. He didn't respond right away, but he did respond a few days later with a photo of him on horseback. This back and forth went on for about a month, where they'd take a few days to respond to each other, and it seemed pretty harmless, but still a little flirtatious, talking about riding horses and how they both like air planes. She was obviously flirting from the get go. He wouldn't respond initially, and she'd send another message to try and get his attention again.
She gave him her number, and he gave her his number on my birthday. We were together that day. So that stung quite a bit. He called her cute as hell at one point, and they sent each other a selfie of just their faces. They fell off from talking right after that, except for when she wished him a merry Christmas, happy new year, which he responded to once each (the new years one had the kissy emojis), and that was it. The weird thing is, she's an older lady than me, like in her 50s (nothing against older ladies here at all), and she's not attractive. She tried to reach out again one more time for Valentines Day, and he didn't respond. He continued to interact with liking her photos on instagram every once in a while. Most of the time she's on horseback or hiking somewhere. He likes everyone's photos, though, except for Instagram models because he knows that I don't feel respected when that happens, so I'm not sure what to think of it.
I took screenshots, and showed them to one of our mutual friends to get some perspective. She said that it seemed pretty harmless, but it still crosses a line. She said she'd be hurt, too, if her husband did that. She also said that she doesn't think my boyfriend would ever physically do anything with anyone like my ex did. She said I need to decide if I can forgive him or not, and work on building trust with each other if I did forgive him and if I felt like he was trustworthy after a while.
I confronted him, and he said he didn't remember it (even though he deleted the thread at that point). I told him he was hiding something, and I had pictures of it all. He told me he didn't want me to think that there was anything going on between him and this old lady, and it wasn't carrying on at all (which I believe). I told him what's hurts me more is that he tried to hide it and he wasn't upfront about it. He told me he was just bantering and it was more of a joking back and forth than anything. Needless to say my nervous system is shot from this whole thing. It's May now, and these messages happened back in September (besides Christmas and New Years). I didn't see anything else that rang any alarms in me, but I'm still hurt that he'd hide something dumb like that.
I've contemplated just leaving, and he knows that. He was devistated to find out that I was thinking that, and he started to cry so hard it took me by surprise, but I told him this feels too familiar for me and scares the living sh*t out of me. He said he'd do anything he had to to build up that bit of trust he took, including couples counseling. He said I could just take his phone if I wanted to. But I don't want to do that. I don't see my counselor for another week, and I don't want to drag family into this. I know from other threads people will say to just leave, but I'm struggling with that. No excuses for hiding it, but it was harmless and she's not attractive, so I don't feel threatened that he'd try to go after her or something. I believe she lives in another country. It just seems so dumb to lie and hide something like this. Am I overreacting?

2024.05.15 01:24 ScratchOk3585 Update and could an answer to my question please- Detained for DUI but released with no citation or ticket. What happens next ? (PA)

(April 14th) Last night, the visibility conditions for driving were bad. I swerved into a wrong empty lane at a turn in a residential neighborhood by accident. A Pennsylvania state trooper pulled me over and thought I was dui. I was not under the influence of any alcohol or narcotics however. I have social anxiety and failed the sobriety test because I got too nervous. The state trooper then said I was under arrest and said I had to do blood test or lose driving privileges etc. He took down my personal info and He took me to a hospital to get tested. After the blood test he released me with no paperwork of any sort or citation or anything. Since I was not under the influence of anything I think most likely the dui is open and shut once case when the officer gets back my negative drug blood test however, would I be in the clear or should I expect a future ticket/citation over the bad turn on the road?
Update: May 14th. The state trooper called my cell today. During the blood sample examination, my prescription medications which I am legally prescribed came up as I expected. I am prescribed adhd medication and anxiety medication by my psychiatrist, who practices within the state of Pennsylvania.
During the call, he asked me about both those medications being found in the blood. I informed him that the morning of the day this stop took place, I had taken the prescribed daily amount of both medications in the morning. I apologized that I forgot to mention that I took prescription meds in the morning, and he acknowledged he forgot to ask me if I had taken any prescriptions that day. After that there was brief period of silence and i heard him murmur " within therapeutic treatment," or "below therapeutic treatment" (his phone audio wasnt that great at some points) followed by typing noises in the background. I assume he was typing into a report in relation to the medications. He said something along the lines of "alright. I'll look into it" and bye and then hang up.
I can easily prove that I am prescribed my adhd medication and my anxiety medication, and that morning, I took the appropriate dosage of each medication, so I am not concerned about the medications. He did not ask for any proof that I am prescribed these medications, but i can and will provide proof should he ask for it in the near future.
Does it appear this case is over or should I expect a citation in the mail for dui in the future?

2024.05.15 01:21 al_ka96 Lost one of my VIP tickets for OLN

So I bought two VIP tickets for the Covers Only Tour in Orlando, I lost one of them. I could have sworn I had them in an email but I don’t, I just have one saved to my phones wallet. I don’t know who to contact, since I got it off their official site and there’s no support email or number to call. Does anyone know who I could contact or what to do in this situation? Thanks again in advance! ( I mostly feel super bad about this because the ticket I lost is my husbands...)

I'm a service manager at a heavy truck dealership. I'm thinking about hiring another service advisor at the entry level. 3 years experience max.
Would any of you work 40hrs no OT for $23/hr no percentage of parts or labor?
There are benefits such as 401K matching up to 10%, a monthly bonus of $100, insurance, life insurance, dealership discounts including Ford and GM on brand new vehicles, company paid cell phone, education reimbursement.
There is really no salesmanship required most customers are going to fix it no matter what because their livelihoods depend on it.
Edit: I'm trying to see I'm in the ballpark competitively for the upper midwest.

Short review/thoughts:
This is the most adorable mini pink bag, and the color of the iridescence is chef's kiss! It fits an iPhone 14 Pro (not max) with a very bulky Otterbox + room for a small wallet, AirPods, keys. It's brand new and never worn and has been sitting in a box in my closet in a dust bag. I bought this from both God Factory and Xiao C and will be keeping the God Factory one. The Xiao C one is close to the God Factory one to be honest, and it's miles better than the S Factory one which has the wrong quilt pattern for the same price. There is no fu fu smell, and the leather is soft.

I cannot obtain the original negatives for my mother’s senior photo. Can this low resolution version be upscaled?
So. Backstory. My mother passed away when I was 7 and I have the framed version of this picture. I took a picture of it using my phone because it’s too large for a normal flatbed scanner.
I also have a wallet size version that I scanned in and it was even worse quality. I would like to digitally preserve this in as high quality and resolution as I can. Would be easier if I could find the negatives, but unfortunately the photographer has also passed away.

2024.05.15 00:48 user1398 Phone and Internet

An AT&T technician told me that bundling our phone and internet services will result in lowering our costs. He said this would cause our phone to work through the internet. I've heard that before, and based on my previous understanding, if one goes out, the other won't work. We don't have a cell phone - just a landline. Speaking of landlines, he also told me that our area is one of the ones that will be phasing them out. They've been busy working on burying the fiber. Also, people have been stealing the copper lines.
The tech also told me that at a certain point AT&T will no longer repair the copper lines, so we won't have much of a choice in going to fiber. My understanding is that if we go to fiber, we won't have a choice when it comes to bundling (meaning that if we go to fiber, our services will be bundled). We should also be able to keep using the handsets we currently use for our phone service as well as our current gateway/routewhatever you want to call it.
Does all of this sound about right?

2024.05.15 00:44 FitWitness3330 My girlfriend "accidentally" got me arrested

Apologies as this is probably going to be a long entry.
Earlier this year I started a new job in the police, to do this I left another job in the prison service where I was doing well. This was a position which my girlfriend told me to apply for as it was where she worked and was more money. I accepted, applied and got the job. She appeared really happy that I got the job and it was supposed to be our way out of my mum's house where we both lived.
On the evening of my second shift I had to stay up to the early hours of the morning to pick up my girlfriend. She had to stay late as she was having some serious issues with her mental health including self harm and suicidal thoughts. I have been supportive of this taking up extra duties in the house and doing my lions share to sort her as I always have. She told me that she stayed late to talk about previous traumas. She told me about them when I picked her up and I stayed up to talk to her to make sure she was ok. We had a really good talk where I was supportive and said we would get through it together and I'll do what I can to make life easier. I woke up and went to work and when I finished I was walking to the gate and 3 detectives asked me to follow them and took me to the gate where everyone was leaving took my eppilettes and badge and informed me that I was under arrest for an alleged assault on my girlfriend.
Just for context I would never lay a hand on a woman especially not in anger or frustration, I know the second you lose your temper you lose the argument so if anything ever started feeling heated I would leave so we both had time to cool down and have a proper conversation.
I was very confused however pressumed they had mistaken me with an ex-boyfriend who I know had assaulted her and she was talking to her manager about it. Because of this I wasnt to worried as I knew I had never done anything that was even close to assault, I'm not saying we were perfect , we argued but it was always verbal (at least from my end) and always came to a reasonable end. We never lost our temper with each other.
When I got to the station they said that she had said that I slapped her once outside a bar, I was shocked by this and when they said it was 9 months ago I knew they hadn't mistaken me for her ex as we were together for four years by this point. I was placed in prison Grey's and put in a cell then interviewed. They released me on bail with conditions not to contact her and they took my phone for evidence incase I had messaged anyone admitting that I slapped her. I need to stress at this point that THIS NEVER HAPPENED.
The case was classed as a no further action after a month of pointless attempts to crack my phone and trying to persuade myself and my girlfriend to give them the pin which I refused to do without being told by the court that I had to. As a result of this whole incident I lost my job in the police and cannot reapply as now I have an arrest on my record. My life fell apart as a result of this whole thing and now my degree in policing and criminal investigation seams like a complete waste. Any jobs I want and suit are in public service or military and this throws a massive spanner in the works.
When I first saw her we went through everything that had happend and why she said it. She said that we were playing about and that I had tapped her face which she found disrespectfu but that she never meant that she wanted police involvement as she had kicked me first. Again this had never happend. I have spoken to many police officers and staff that I know who have said that it sounds suspicious and that they had absolutely no reason to arrest me if what my girlfriend had told me was true. When I said this and said would she get the transcript of what was said as it was a recorded session she said "what if I have remembered wrong" this shook me to my core as it strikes me as she has said more than what she told me. She had also changed her story about when and what happened.
As a result of this whole thing I have lost loads of trust, money, motivation and I'd be lying if I hadnt suffered some darker thoughts such as driving my car into a wall at 100mph. I was looked at by people I didn't know as a wife bearer and it made me sick. To top it off she got everything she wanted as she wanted to move out but financially we couldn't save money for a house and we would also be leaving my mum in the shit if we left as we payed all the bills. To avoid this I let her stay at my mum's and I slept in my car so she was close to work and could continue her way of life. However she decided she knew best and got an appartment which we now both live in and I can't afford. She's also saying that she's more confident now and showed me messages of guys who are trying to get in her pants. Meanwhile I have gone from being confident and strong to being a complete shell of my former self. And she didn't want to take any responsibility for any of it. She also told me that she had my back and told the manager that reported me to the police that she was upset with her however looking at the messages to her manager she was nothing but friendly with her.
My head's fucked, I feel betrayed, small, insignificant and like everything that happend to me just didn't matter to her. I don't know what to do, I'm trying to get my head right by going back to the gym but my motivation is shot. I don't know if I can trust her anymore and I feel bitter and resentful. What do I do to start feeling better and should I confront her about what I've gone through because of her bullshit story or should I just leave. I want to make it work as this is the only bad thing in our relationship. But it's fucking written me off and I don't know how I can get past it. I appreciate any advice or guidance to help me get past this portion of my life.

2024.05.15 00:36 Pseudoname17 Protecting against theft on the beach

I’ll be in St. Martin in the first week of June, and my plan is frankly to hit up as many nude beaches as I can. I like to walk the beach now and then, so wondering what the general consensus is regarding your possessions; obviously, I will lack pockets for phone/wallet/keys and I feel like a fanny pack while nude would be a bit silly. Is theft from unattended beach loungers an issue? Any deterrent strategies?

Kurt Geiger Kensington bag from ladybags2020
https://m.dhgate.com/product/kurt-geiger-bag-women-leather-small-clamshell/858897597.html
Price: 56,22 +13(Germany)
Okay, this is definitely a low-key retail brand, not your usual four-digit price range. Nevertheless, the look is worth it. Compared to retail pictures, I couldn't spot any differences, except that there should be another brand print inside the bag, which is missing.
The size is perfect for a normal-sized wallet, phone, keys, and there's still room for some small items, like a diaper and a kid's water bottle in my case. 😂
Jokes aside, this is far from *walk in a park kind of bag, it has a shine to it, the crystals in the eagle head, the chain, the soft material, it all gives rich feels.
I don’t think it is leather for the price, although it feels soft& fluffy. There's some kind of material inside the bag that keeps it sturdy, like thin metal or thick cardboard, but I'm not sure. However, in one place where it was slightly bent, I could easily straighten the bag in a second to get it back in good shape.
And just for your attention, I wanna remind you of ALWAYS selecting the shipment to be sent in a box. Somehow I missed it this time, as I was ordering in a bit of a rush (due to *life happens) and it came in a bubble wrap, dust bag and plastic bag. Luckily, this bag has a thick layer inside, so it still arrived in good condition.
Of course I had to zoom in the eagle head and have to say, it is perfect, from diamond count to shape, to colour, they’ve nailed it.
