One reoccurring symptom that I have noticed in people with ADHD is the frequency in which they REALLY get into something, like they can spend their entire day thinking or doing that thing. But after a while, completely drop it only to move on to the next thing.
I have noticed this in myself, and other who share their experience in this platform as well.
However, some of my friends think they might also have ADHD because they have other symptoms as well, mainly they can't focus as much as they would like. However, being friends with them for several years, I haven't noticed them really being hyperfixated at anything. I'm always the one spending my entire week focused on something.
I have a sudden urge to educated myself about history, the next thing you know my youtube and google history are full of history. Then I got interested into learning a language, and would watch and practice that langauge during my free time. If i got into a videogame, I would optimize my character the best way possible and watch every guide and tutorial. When they'd ask me to hangout or play a game, I'd rather just do that random thing I'm hyperfixated about.
I haven't noticed this in them. It seems like they don't get invested into something as much as me as long as me.
I myself am diagnosed, more specifically ADD. I know the best way to find out is to be diagnosed. However, since we're broke ass college students living in a "developing" country, the means to seek a medical professional isn't on the priority list.
But I myself want to form my own opinion if some of them have ADHD. Of course, you can't say if you do have ADHD if you're not diagnosed by a professional, and even then, it's not completely certain. But I can't form my own conclusion.
So, do all of you guys have hyperfixations? Or do you know someone who's diagnosed, but don't exactly have hyperfixations?

Why I want to host a rewatch
"A boy and his plane"
Battle Fairy Yukikaze has lived rent-free in my head for 20 years. It is a (partial) adaptation of the story collection Yukikaze (1984) and the sequel Good Luck, Yukikaze (1999). The novels have been described as excellent hard-sf exploring the relationship between man and machine. The anime is a quiet, introspective, contemplative....inscrutable mess?
The best comparison I can think of is Boogiepop Phantom, a gift to source readers but utterly opaque to anime-onlies. Which I loved, and I purchased, but I had to read the entire Boogiepop and Others wiki to understand. I never really understood anything about Yukikaze until I watched the video linked below. This is isn't an adaptation of the source. It's an animated companion piece, of portions of the story.
Even though the show makes no sense to me, I'd still love to share it with other sci-fi and mecha (mechanical) fans. And I really hope some source readers can come in and explain it all. Because people love explaining stuff.
Story
An inter-dimensional portal has opened over Antarctica. Invaders called JAM attacked without warning. They were forced back through the portal to their homeworld of Fairy. An expeditionary force was sent through the portal to establish a beachhead on Fairy, to secure the planet and guard against another invasion.
The main character is Lt. Rei Fukai (Masato Sakai), a member of the Special Air Force "Boomerang" Reconnaissance Squadron, who flies the AI-equipped FFR-31MD Super Sylph "Yukikaze". The squadron is commanded by Maj. James Bukhar (Joji Nakata) whose orders are "always return home".
The show, or at least, its source material, explores the relationship between man, machine, and alien.
Show Background
Sentou Yousei Yukikaze was a big deal for Gonzo and Bandai Visual: It was the 20th Anniversary Production of Bandia Visual. If you've been in other sci-fi rewatches, then you've seen Gonzo's own anniversary productions, and similar marquee efforts:

• Blue Submarine No. 6 (Gonzo 5th anniversary) (1998)
• Full Metal Panic (2002)
• Last Exile (Gonzo 10th anniversary) (2003)
• Sentou Yousei Yukikaze (Bandai Visual 20th Anniversary) (2002-2005)
• Gankutsuou (2005)

Yes, there will be CGI. We're slowly chronically Gonzo's evolving love of CGI, for better or for worse.
At only 5 episodes, Yukikaze was released at the almost ludicrous pace of one episode 1 year (except for episode 2). This didn't make it any easier to understand.
There were additional sequels written in the later 2000s, so I don't know if the anime ending is anime original, or if these sequels need to be considered to understand the older content.
This show was clearly made by people who love modern jet fighter craft, and lovingly crafted new fictitious as detailed as any Kawamori design. From the video below, here we have the crew visiting a JASDF base to collect sound effect, get up close to the equipment and avionics, and experience take-off and landing forces, first hand.

This beef has, for me and I believe many of us, made me want to listen to Kendrick's previous works with the context of what we know post-Aubrey-cide. If you haven't yet, I'd definitely recommend going back to songs like DNA., ELEMENT., The Heart Part IV, N95, Rich Spirit... The list goes on, and I'm having a lot of fun discovering new layers of songs I've known well for years. The consistency of Kenny's artistry and values have really held up over time.
I did want to come back to the song "For Free??" though, because I feel like the Lucien reading for the character "Lucy" could have some more credibility now, and may even help us understand some of the things going on in the aftermath of Kendrick's four tracks.
Now obviously, in "For Free??", Lucy is Satan/Lucifer and serves to continue the characterization of the temptations of fame and wealth coming for Kendrick (or the character, whatever) throughout his journey through the rap industry. However, people have pointed out for years that "Lucy" could also be personifying Lucian Grange, the CEO of Universal Music Group.
I think when you consider the specific subject matter of Kendrick's initial parlay into the rap industry, it's a pretty good working theory, and frankly, an insanely clever way of working in some larger truths about the music industry while perfectly sticking to the themes of TPAB. But after seeing some of the preliminary fallout from this beef (which I think we can all agree goes a bit beyond music at this point), let's look at two lines in particular that stood out to me in the context of Lucien, Drake, and Kendrick:
"Lucy got million stories About these rappers that I came after when they was boring"

• This was the line that really got me thinking - the stories thing is hitting differently after the past two weeks. Considering Lucien and read in a darker way, "stories" could allude to Lucien/UMG using illicit temptations to their stars to get "stories" of them, thereby allowing them to more easily extort them and control their behavioreleases. Why DOES Drake drop underwhelming projects every year??

"Lucy just want your trust and loyalty, avoiding me? It's not so easy, I'm at these functions accordingly"

• Kendrick has clearly tried to resist Lucien thus far "avoiding me?", but UMG's power, and perhaps some compromised artists, are at all of these functions. Probably the same "(No More) Parties in LA" that Kendrick/Kanye talk about in that song (coincidence that that is their last collaboration before the "Like That (Remix)" ?? (I know Ye getting clowned for that but him spewing shit about Lucien is kind of what made me want to dig into this in the first place))

"Lucy gon' call you even when Lucy know you love your Father"

• "love your Father" could honestly be read a bit differently here than simply God, especially considering DUCKWORTH. and some of the father-themes throughout MM&TBS. Was Kendrick less susceptible to the dark side of the music industry's temptations because of his father's influence? I think you could make a good case. Drake had Dennis lmao

Anyways, sorry for the long post, but wanted to de-compress from the PE drama by listening to TPAB and couldn't help be fascinated by this angle of interpretation. I think Kendrick has really been making allusions to some of the nastier problems in the industry for a while. Have you found any similar bits of old songs that could be re-contextualized now?

The first takes place mainly in Korea when the world gets turned into a game and the main character was a fire mage that ended his life trying to reset his stats by jumping off a cliff. He then wakes up before the game starts and becomes super OP. At the end, he uses his pet to gather all the gold in the world into a ball and gives it to the big boss of some company after he resets the world to normal.
The second one also takes place in Korea (or China maybe) and the main character is a regular guy who dies and is sent to a white room with an angel that gives him a choice between passing on or continue to struggle by doing tasks in another world. He passes the first test which is to hunt a lizard (I think) with an almost perfect score and later becomes super OP because he is the only one able to bring things from that world back into the real world, and from the real world back into the fantasy world (like an electric car). This ability also works with electronics, which is important because for some reason when everyone else tries to bring electronics, or even build it from scratch in the fantasy world, it doesn't work. Oh, and if you couldn't tell by now, he isn't the only person being tested, whenever someone dies in the real world, an angel will give them the very same choice, and he definitely wasn't the first one to be asked this.
I'm really into super OP mcs, so if you got suggestions, pls feel free to add those too, though I might have already read them, seeing as how popular they are in webtoons.

What a DLC. Fantastic. I finished it today and I just can’t stop thinking about it. I perused the web, and here, a short while after playing to pick the minds of fellow players and a lot of support seemed to fall on the decision of saving So Mi and betraying Reed. Even some google screen rant articles seemed more in favor of it for a happier ending. I did not agree though. Ultimately, it felt siding with Reed and killing So Mi, was the best outcome.
I did initially side with So Mi when I started the mission but I found myself re-loading my save to restart the mission just before escaping the stadium. It just didn’t feel RIGHT. Yes, So Mi seemed to really confide and trust V. Yea, she could have been more honest from the beginning. I did feel she would do what she could to save V’s life. I know Reed and Alex are just government pawns who’ve struggled due to their loyal devotion. However, So Mi is technically the same, albeit with some heavy push from Reed in her joining the FIA. In the end, everyone wanted to improve their path in life. So Mi however, tampered with the black wall. Even if at the push of Myers, and she continued to do so. There were notes early in game about how negatively impacted her psychological state seemed to be. She herself made comments about feeling like someone was controlling her. Upon deciding whether to betray her or not, she seemed hell bent on murdering everyone in her path, including the civilians working shops at the stadium just to save her own skin, and maybe help V (which we then learn the cure is effective for 1 use only, so who really knows.) I don’t know how you guys played your character, but that didn’t seem like something the V I played would do. I also do feel the game rewarded that decision with more gameplay opportunity. Killing Hansen myself was awesome, and although the Cerberus mission had me shitting bricks. It was fun.
Killing So Mi, felt like the best decision because it was honorable. NightCity, the corps, NUSA; they all have ulterior motives. Even when the good things can be seen in characters like Reed, Alex, Myers, they are a part of that system and its world. Less can be said for So Mi, and even less for V, who have been placed in a position of desperation to grasp survival. Even though siding with Reed saved his life and the weight of all the innocent deaths at the stadium were not on V’s shoulders to bear. Even though So Mi, showed increasing signs of corruption from the black wall, they still shared a bond unlike the others and killing So Mi honored her. It was the best act to free her from the clutches of NUSA and the black wall.
The ending offered by Phantom Liberty was one of cowardice. Betraying So Mi, turning her into NUSA to save your skin. Johnny dies and V lives a shell of the life he had. Even his friends aren’t so friendly. He just fades away. It’s funny, even after the mission was over and I went to finish off the game with meeting Hanako at Embers, I actually felt ready to die. Like I put So Mi out of her misery, freed her, a consequence of the choices she had made, for tampering with the wall, and like her I was also waiting to be freed, a consequence of the climb to NightCity legend, of messing with the biochip. Jackie paid a price and the whole game it seemed to feel like V was waiting to pay his.

Does anyone have the archive download of this? It got me through a tough time a while ago, and I’d love to listen to it again. There are some episodes on Spotify, but I would like to hear the crazy canon they have with the lives of the characters.

I am not a gamer, but I got the urge to try GTA v as my first actual game and first mouse and keyboard game. But, I have a MacBook Pro. From 2016. I know it’s a bad setup and will be an uphill battle to play. Idc.
Ofc gaming is catered heavily to PCs, so steam wouldn’t even let me open it. And then I can’t buy the game off epic games just on a Mac.
So far: I downloaded crossover, downloaded Heroic, and made an account with epic games and bought gta. But when I try to download it it says I don’t have enough space.
I’m on Monterey, my flash storage says I have 114.33GB available of 250.69 GB
My original plan was to go buy an external hard drive and move my photos, texts, etc onto it to free up space. But: GTA says - Download size 109.43 GB - Install size 111.47GB Does that mean it would take up 220.9GB?? Or do they not add together.
Either way that’s almost my full computer storage space for one game. Does that seem correct to you?
So now my question is, can I get an external hard drive that I download GTA onto and then can just plug in when I want to play? Would that work w the fact that I have to go through Crossover and Heroic. Would it still save my progress and stuff?
And if anyone is knowledgeable about this can u give me a step by step for anything that can help. Thank u!!!

I purchased my macbook in 2020 at the beginning of my undergraduate degree and have used it almost everyday since. It has worked great, but in the last month or two I have noticed some problemos.
I used to close my macbook lid and it would sleep, and hold charge (unplugged). Now when I close the lid, it does not sleep (my screen time shows that I am on my laptop when im not). I wake up and go to work to find my laptop battery is drained to 0… it could be at 100% the night prior.
Weirder, now when I close the lid of my laptop, the clock stops. And when reopened, it displays the time at which it was last opened.
I have limited applications and downloads. Lots of files from my university studies, I had tried downloading a free version (bootlegged) of graph pad to help with new job. But soon deleted because it did not function.
I have tried trouble shooting using advice from reddit and such to no resolve. If any advice as to what this could be?? Malware? Virus? Please comment. I do not have money to buy a new mac and this one has been so reliable for me over the past 4 years of constant usage!! Thanks.

Genre: 2D Exploration with a focus on 2D Point and Click Puzzle (with a tone of horror)
Estimated year of release: 2012-2019
Graphics/art style: Dark and mysterious. Art style wasn't pixelated. It was fairly detailed to where I could clearly make out the character's facial expression and approximate age.
Notable characters: You control a teenage girl with orange hair wearing a white robe with modern shoes (she has a nonplussed look on her face). She was the only character featured in the demo.
Notable gameplay mechanics: Story is you are taking part in a type of trial imposed on you by your religious community (most likely a cult). If you can't complete it, its implied you'll die.
During gameplay, you are confined to a small room with a door (elevator maybe) leading up, a puzzle in the center, and a dooelevator leading down to the next level. When near the puzzle, you would interact with it and the screen would change to zoom in on it; from there, you used the mouse. I believe the puzzles were a type of sliding puzzle, where there were crisscrossing tracks (think train tracks, but indented) you could move the circular pieces with a symbol on them along the tracks and match them up with other symbols. I feel like I'm missing a crucial detail with the mechanics as the puzzles could be fairly difficult. The puzzles had a gold hue to them.
On the ground, you can find documents talking about various things, like letters of support addressed to previous trial takers and notes from trial takers (it's implied that the trial might be rigged to silence some people). There would be collectables on the ground and laying on top of the puzzles that you can just click to collect (it hints that these can lead to an escape from the cult). One of the collectibles you'd often find was red, maybe a gem or feather?
At one point, one of the puzzles has a piece of paper on it saying the puzzle is broken and you can go to the next floor. If you tear off the paper, it reveals the puzzle can be completed and doing this can aid you in escaping the cult.
Other details:
The game was a free demo for a full game that was either already out or would be out soon (I can't remember where it was going to be sold though). I believe I played the demo on a game site like Newgrounds, Kongregate, etc, though I tried looking on Newgrounds and couldn't find it.

Everyone has flaws and imperfections, either physically or personality wise.
Don’t get hung up on things about yourself which may be unalterable.
Don’t always be trying to overtly hide such flaws. The insecurity shown when trying to hide a fault often comes off as being way less attractive than the actual fault itself.
Obsessively trying to hide a fault highlights a person’s insecurity and shows low self-confidence.
In the cases where the fault could potentially have an impact on your performance, it’s often much more effective to directly address the issue upfront, and call out the elephant in the room as it were.
But for the scenarios where the fault is inconsequential, you could choose to address it instead in a more nonchalant manner. If the fault does not matter to you, why should it matter to other people?
You can joke about your flaws, but do not do so in a self-deprecating kind of way. If you joke about yourself in a self-deprecating kind of way, then you are probably hoping that people will laugh with you instead of just at you. And while perhaps funny, this does not make you look attractive.
However, being able to openly joke about yourself in such a way that you are not simply searching for approval from others, shows that you are truly comfortable with who you are.
You can also re-frame a fault as a positive.
Being overly defensive or qualifying oneself let’s someone know that they have successfully accomplished getting under your skin, which may have been their very intention. Completely ignoring such remarks or either responding nonchalantly or with a joke is often a much better response.
There are actually many benefits to having flaws:
When you accept a flaw and remain confident despite it, more attraction and/or respect can be generated than if you lacked the so called flaw altogether.
Especially if the flaw is physical. Internal confidence is a way more attractive than some external superficial flaw.
If the flaw is blatantly obvious, and yet you conduct yourself as if it has no drastic effect on your self-worth, it shows great self-confidence.
Similarly, if others try to actively attack you over a flaw, but you remain nonreactive, confident and well-grounded despite their provocations, you can come off looking even better than before.
Faults can also allow other people to find you more accessible and relatable. People can’t identify and connect well with others who appear perfect.
And finally, learning to overcome certain shortcoming in life is what allows you to build resourcefulness, character and work ethic.

Hi everyone, has anyone recently tried to download historical price data from yahoo finance recently? In prior times I'd be able to select the time period of the data i wanted to see then I'd be able to copy/paste this data into an excel file. However, it looks like yahoo finance has had a recent user interface update on it's pages and they don't allow the price data to be directly downloaded anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions to work around this? I use this free data for my finance data learning.
